I think the lack of a new living story is because of the megaservers. anet are focusing on how it works out before adding anything new. It’s mostly ok imo, but they need to do something about guild missions cos atm megaservers are messing those up something awful.
I agree with a lot of the things above. in addition
Playable Tengu / open dominion of winds.
New maps, maybe Maguma wastes, or the ruins of Deldrimore (would make a great spot for a new dungeon)
Some progress on getting ready for the next Elder dragon campagn. It’s been over a year since my main character defeated Zhaitan and he’s starting to wonder when the pact is going to get back to work!
Maybe involve guild halls in the rebuilding of Lion’s Arch? the guild missions to unlock it could involve helping with reconstruction.
More logical progression in Living world, a lot of season 1 felt rather disjointed as if it was only tied together retrospectively. I’d also be happy to have less frequent living world updates, but better implemented. More to do than simply zerging around killing this week’s flavour of guest mobs.
I’ve heard that npc and you can tell from her voice that she’s being ironic. She’s not seriously saying she wants to conquor the quaggans.
What Would Your Character Have Said to Jory?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

My Charr warrior:
It’s small satisfaction. Killing the wolf after it’s slaughtered your cattle doesn’t help keep your people fed.
You can’t have Lion’s Arch as a free city if it’s under the control of one of the major powers. I think the captain’s council really needs reforming, for starters Put Evon Gnashblade on it. Kiel may be kind hearted, but she’s an IDIOT.
Rebuild in a new style. Lion’s arch was made from the hulks of ships washed up by the rise of Orr. There are no new wrecked ships to use for spare parts now, so we’ll need to make the buildings from something else this time. The pact know Lion’s arch is a prime target for the dragons now, give them a bigger presence. Add in pact anti-air cannons to repel dragons and/or Aetherblade airships. How about docking the Spirit of Tyria (the big airship from the final Zhaitan battle) over the city? It’s got to be repaired somewhere and it still has enough guns to help defend the city while it’s being fixed.
Gender flip all player and npc characters for the day!
Given the humans can’t even defend their own people from centaurs, in Kryta, the idea of them being able to march an army to Ascalon is laughable. They’d never even make the shiverpeaks with a significant force cos they’d have no supply line left what with the centaurs roaming much of Kryta at will. As for would the Charr fight back. Well after they stopped laughing their tails off watching the human army’s logistics train fall apart, they would probably send in a few war machines for a little “Demonstation” raid into Kryta before offering terms for cease fire (which would not be cheap if the humans started the fight). While better than those of the humans, Charr logistics are not so elastic as to support a long term occupation of Kryta.

In general My Charr agree on the fact that we’ve already won the war with the humans. Since we have all that we set out to take back from them, there’s not a whole lot of point continuing an age old war just for spite. They’re a weak, frightend, besieged race. Given the advance of Charr technology they’re not even remotely a threat to the charr, they’ll be irrelivant in another generation.
Sign the treaty and move on, we’ve got a world to save here!
No idea how this happened, but very funny! Rollin’ rollin rollin!

I think Arenanet always intended Kiel to win, why else give her the waypoint discout? They had to know that’d be more popular than cheaper lock box keys with the bulk of players, and many I talked to at that time didn’t even consider the fractal choice. On top of that for those who like RP they Spelled out EXCEEDINGLY unsubtly that Evon was corrupt and Kiel was in it for the people and was the “right” choice for us to make.
They did it to burry the Abbadon fractal so they could do the easy option (thaumanover is just recycled elements of CoE, and an excuse to shoehorn Scarlet in, AGAIN).
Conspiracy theory? It may be, but to my eye it fits far too may of my observations of Arenanet’s past operating procedure for me to discount it as a high probability.
I can’t wait for Scarlet to be removed, I prefer an evil mastermind or a force of nature as a foe rather than just a flipping crazy. More Moriarty, less Joker please next time Anet!
I think the Junundu wyrms of the Desolation are the real Sand worms of Tyria, you could even ride them. That said I do still sometimes shout “SHAI HULUD!” when the Jungle Wyrm spawns!
Main thing I’d like in Living story is what was originally promissed. events that change the world. 90% of what we’ve had in year 1 of living story you’d never know had happened 24 hours after it ends, apart from a few players wearing event exclusive gear. And the few things that have stayed around, like scarlet’s invasions… does ANYONE ever do those any more? I know no one in my guild has.
lets please stop with the episodic 2 weeks and all change stuff, and have stuff that forms a continuous arc leading from where we are now, to some grand goal. Maybe the start of the next elder dragon campagn, over this coming year, THAT would be good.
I would not say Tequatl is impossible. server I’m on bands together on voice chat once a week and does it. The problem is for the most part the drops simply do not justify the fact it takes over an hour to organise 70+ players to actually have a decent chance of success. And one mob glitching and getting stuck on the mega laser or a noob camping on the turrets so they get destroyed by AOE attacks and ignoring the commanders can ruin it. Not a bad fight, just the old Arenanet problem of not scaling the rewards up enough for the more difficult content, so people just get lazy and only do the easy stuff.
To be honest, the charr LIKE to have plenty of enemies, if they didn’t have an external threat to fight they’d just be fighting each other for the title of Khan-Ur. You can tell Blood, Iron and Ash legion do not really like each other much, they just dislike Flame legion, Ghosts, branded and Ogres more than they dislike each other, at least at the moment!
I use a hybrid set of tactical and tier 2 cultural for the legs (tactical leg armour tail clips) also use the orrian light gloves. The new Wanderer mask skin looks great for necros too, provided you use a suitably dark colour.
Some great moments in Charr storyline. My favorite is in the “honorable soldier” father storyline when you get to fight ghost cows in Diessa plateau with a pair of scrap hunters!
I want to see a minigame where we get to race in charr steam waggons, there’s an npc in the black citadel who says there’s a steam racing stadium hidden in the black citadel somewhere, let us in!
I’m looking forward to going north after Jormag, one ot the areas up there besides the far shiverpeaks are the old Blood legion homelands. I expect charr up there probably will be much more tribal, (if any remain what with the icebrood of course). They’d probably be nomadic animal herders living in a sub-arctic tundra environment. After being cut off for centuries and not having had the chance to settle and civilise they’d probably be as freaked out by Ascalonian charr as they would by Humans or Norn.
The Charr have had an industrial revolution in the last hundred years, this is obviously going to make them less savage than when they were essentially a mongol style horde in GW1. That said the Charr still see nothing wrong in killing your superior in a duel as a means to get a promotion (at least in blood legion).
I think the charr have some of the best humor in the game, From Tybalt Leftpaw, to posing as a flame legion fanatic (very funny conversation ensues if your character is female) in one story mission. To Roj the rowdy butcher singing about meat all day long in Diessa plateau!
The dropped flame legion books at the abandoned camp in Iron marches “One hundred and one reasons why all humans should die, volume III”.
Oh and the ghost cows story mission of course!

plated armour would look good on a charr guardian I think. It’s one of the heavy skins you can buy in WvW for badges of honour
I’m not sure where you got that from, as far as I know Rytlock’s ancestry isn’t mentioned. Kala Scorchrazor was a grandcub of Pyre Fierceshot and she died in 1116, this argues against her being a sister of Rytlock who appears no more than middle aged in 1326 (current year in GW2)
Been playing GW2 for ages, suddenly today the game first lagged out so bad I couldn’t control my character, then the game crashed to desktop. Since this time I have been unable to play the game since it seems to crash almost every time it loads a new map. I have not installed any new software in the last week, and GW2 was working fine upto about an hour and a half ago. Now it’s impossible to log in without it either crashing during map loading or as soon as I select a character to play. Have run an anti-virus scan, nothing is showing up.
The odd thing with Charr is the cubs have horns too. Most animals with horns only grow them when they reach adulthood. so really charr cubs ought to be hornless, or at least have very small horns.
1) Living story that performs the task originally set for it. To be a slow and gradual evolution of the game, not a set of apparently random temporary events aimed purely at staving off player boredom. Quality over quantity please. I don’t mind waiting 2-4 months for new content instead of 2 weeks if the result is story that feels like it’s coherent and leads somewhere rather than star trek episodes where what happens one week has no bearing on the next. “We’ve invented a fantastic new device, but for some reason we will never use or mention it ever again after this one event.”
2)More feedback into the world based on your choices in the story. Having played the game on multiple characters I would say that after the second battle of claw island nothing you did in the first half of the story makes the slightest bit of difference to the second, which isn’t very personal is it?
3)New lands and races. I’ve explored the current world, I want to go off the map we’re on now and see more of those places I remember from GW1 but can’t go to any more. I’m aware of the difficulties with Cantha, but I’d at least like to see a move towards preparing for the next elder dragon campaign soon, whichever one it may be.
Overall. GW2’s second halloween is looking like being far less enjoyable than the first. Not just the the insultingly overpriced items, but there’s less to do. And compared to year 1 the weapon skins suck. At least you can buy the things for tokens now rather than hope for the vanishingly slim chance of the thing actually dropping. But it’s a sad thing that the only item I wanted to buy this halloween was the costumed mini pets.
It is idiotic how rare candy corn nodes are this year given how many we need for the items. lets just work this out, 20 cobs for the bloody prince. 20,000 candycorn pieces! That’s 80 STACKS of the frikking things. Who has time to farm that much candy corn? You’d need at least 2-3 STACKS of it per day, and that’s assuming this event lasts a full month!
They have been somewhat less enjoyable than they were last year. Still the best place to do the door events is actually in the labyrinth cos they seem to be more stable in there.
The problem I have with the living story is it feels like the simpsons. What I mean by that is that what happens in one episode has no relevance to what happens in the next. The entire arc we had leading up to the jubilee felt like the people working on it were making it up as they went along and then trying to write the lore connecting it in as an after thought. There’s been some enjoyable content (my favorite was the Bazar) but it’s episodic in the worst way. It does not form a coherent whole when I look back at it over it’s first year. In addition I can’t help feeling is there is too much focus on living story and not enough on moving the core story forward, isn’t it about time we started getting back to the elder dragons here, you know, the reason we’re fighting this war?
I’d say it’s not a sure thing. it depends entirely on which Norn and which charr we are talking about. And which one is more drunk when the fight starts!
helmet still looks like kitten though.
Actually I think it’s a Riot of raptors.
While the rules of evolution in Tyria are not like those in our world. My guess would be that if the Charr evolved, it’d be from something similar to sabretooth cats like Smilodon.
http://ircamera.as.arizona.edu/NatSci102/NatSci102/images/smilodon.jpg
the main visible difference between the sexes on charr are their tails, their tails are completely uncovered so for a charr a long fluffy tail on display probably IS sexy
Absolutely agreed on the poor nature of recent living story content. And if I had to point mmy finger on a reason it’s rare drops. I’ve always hated it when mmos make all the decent items ludicrously hard to find. one of my favorite features of guild wars 2 was the token system whereby you could garantee being able to get what you wanted if you collected enough. lately though more and more rare drop skins have been showing up. I’ve still yet to see a single champion weapon skin drop, even with having farmed extensivly in both Queen’s jubilee and clockwork events. All in all, I’m getting sick of it. and to be honest the events now just make matters worse. the only reason anyone would WANT to do tequatl now is for the rare drops, the only reason for doing TA, would be for rare drops, and to be frank. I’m not going to play content I don’t like just for a 1% (or worse) chance that I MIGHT get something decent as a reward.
Two words, Pyre Fierceshot.
The greatest hero of the Charr revolution when they threw off the rule of the flame legion, Pyre was a ranger.
other than cultural, I still think the vigil helm is the best choice for a heavy armour helm that does not look terrible on charr. I think the roman Centurion look suits them. More than it does Asura at least, they look like Marvin the martian in Vigil heavy armour! LOL
Talia Bonebreaker (if you go blood instead of ash)
I have a female charr mesmer, tripple rare, one of the least played classes, in the least played race, and the less played gender for that race too! There is a lack of good charr friendly light armour. I recomend keeping the starter mesmer mask, and getting fanged dread. That actually fits char very well indeed.
Someone should do an all female charr guild and call it “Charrly’s Angels”
Brax Redreaver – Reaver warband, Blood legion, heavy infantry
Bathos the Bow – (originally Sureshot) Shot warband, Ash legion, sniper cohort
Ferrous Blackclaw – Black warband, Iron legion, engineering and sapping cohort.
Broccha Tailtwister – Twister warband, Ash legion, special opps
I have a Charr Mesmer, her warband name is “Tailtwister” because she’d use illusions to prank the other cubs in the fehrah! (which would include going invisible and giving their tails a canthan burn!)
The Charr do not mind water, if you go to the home instance in the black citadel you will find a shower room in the charr barracs building to the left of the entrance. Remember Charr live and breathe steam tech. Steam engines are oily and smokey things to be working around and no charr is going to want all that crud matting up their fur when they go to sleep.
This blasted event is boring me to death! Boss farming is ok for an hour or so, but good loot or not (usually not for me, I’ve yet to find anything decent in this event) I do not want to be doing zergs ALL THE FRIKKING TIME! Zerg farming is all this event is good for, I can’t do anything more interesting cos everyone’s been so starved of good gold farming over the past year that it’s next to impossible to find a decent dungeon party.
