R7 200 – since we can’t tell if it’s an R7 240 or an R7 265, it’s performance can range from poor to reasonable.

FX-8150 – is a slow performing processor and as this game doesn’t depend on driving a lot cores to the max, single core performance is more important than overall performance of the CPU with all cores engaged. That’s just the nature of how the game engine was designed.

The less gold someone has access to, the more likely they are to purchase germs to supplement that gold.

People who can realistically buy gem store stuff from ingame cash are not a majority. At all. This is not a common thing, especially not being able to do it repeatedly. Few players play remotely enough every day to generate that amount of cash.

Also, for most of us we could do 1 extra hour at work and gain a multitude of the amount of gems than we could from a day spent making money ingame. There’s no real motivation to even try use gold.

The only people I see spend gold on gems are on reddit, here, and a few in TxS. The others do the odd gold-to-gems trade to fill up the last 100 or so (I think that’s actually the intention of the weird numbers, try drain gold, otherwise the numbers would be different), but otherwise just spend € when they want something.

Working as intended. The gem store funds the game. If everyone could easily buy stuff, even playing only a bit here and there, no one would need to buy gems, and the game wouldn’t be funded.

The idea is time = money. If you put the time in you can farm enough to buy stuff you want. If you don’t put the time in, you can put cash in and buy gems (which you can sell if you want to someone who has put the time in).

I’m not sure why anyone thinks it shouldn’t be this way.

Because when you find a way to farm gold to get your gem store item, the farming spot gets nerfed.

The gold to gem price is ridiculous as well.

Farms get nerfed to keep the flow of new coin and items into the game within reason which keeps the in-game economy from destabilizing .

The exchange’s rates are driven entirely by players use of the exchange. If the difference in bought and sold gems is positive, the rate goes up, if it’s negative, the rate goes down. And to be fair, the cost of gems have been on a steady decline for the last month or so.

And as it’s been pointed out again and again, cash bought gems funds the game. Not campaigns and expansions like Guild Wars or subscriptions like Wildstar. So at no time did they ever consider that a large segment of players could buy anything and everything using in-game currency from the Gem Shop because that would be slashing their own throats, income wise.

So my suggestion is to either curb your desires to a reasonable level relative to the in-game currency you can generate or crack open your wallet and toss a few bucks their way. Because in this game TANSTAAFL.

I don’t think it’s sold anymore. It was only available on Directsong and I wouldn’t suggest anyone to buy from there. Unless taking the risk of wasting your money and time is something you enjoy.

Why? It’s the composer’s storefront. Sadly it’s not there anymore.

That said there are several sources on YouTube and since you can record from YouTube with certain utilities and then rip the audio with others.

~Snip~

I’m also wondering if the reason the requirements are so specific is to generate more revenue via waypoint usage.
~Snip~

Revenue for who, A.net?, you do realize that waypoints take Silver and Copper to use, those are in-game currency, not real life dollars, and if you don’t have a few Silver on you at any given time to use a couple of WP’s…that’s an entirely separate issue.

The less gold someone has access to, the more likely they are to purchase germs to supplement that gold.

Ha! I’m sure someone buys gems with cash, convert it to gold just because the nickle and dime cost of waypoints makes saving coin impossible. If it costs so much, get off the train. Or walk.

One does not just walk into Mordor.

A change to the reward mechanism for low prob drops has to be carefully analyzed, a plan developed and then getting the powers that be to schedule it. To be “fair” it’s likely that either account or character info needs to be stored about “misses” so when you miss enough, something happens. Which means you need to drag the database team in as well as the server and client teams. Which means you will need to coordinate implementation to a degree greater than if the change was just changing the color of the commander taco.

So yes it’s been two months but on an object in flight, you can’t just “drop something in”.

For MMOs I would imagine from sources like MMO charts. There’s normally an upsurge for 12-18 months followed by the decline. Also if you look at video games in general, there’s always the initial surge in players followed by a decline as they move on to another game. Name a PC or console game released two years ago with the same size or larger playerbase. Video games are marketed as a consumable, you get you 10-20 hours and move on.

WoW is it’s own beast but it simply took longer before the decay started although the recent expansion shored it up again.

Probably not as much as you would hope. The game becomes CPU bound when there are crowds of other players about. And while going from a GTX 660 to a GTX 970 is huge for other games (like 2x) that are GPU bound, I don’t think you are going to get anywhere near that.

Upside, you should be able to crank up the settings to get more pretty without impacting the performance you are currently seeing.

Hey but this is me SWAGing here, there’s bound to be someone with a 970 to chime in, but I’ll bet most have significantly overclocked newer CPUs than a non-K (you didn’t say it was a K or not) i7-2600.

Honestly BlueBoy, before they changed up traits you could unlock ALL of your adept traits on ALL tracks for 10s. Now it’s 10s and 2SP (I think) per adept trait. A character has what, 30 adept traits.

10s Vs 3g and 60SP. Of course you don’t need to get them all but before you could experiment, now if you don’t have the means you need to choose carefully. Or scour the world to do the events that unlock them. And it’s too bad if the one you want is tied up at a high level event, guess you have to pay to get it “early”.

New player, no outfit change while leveling?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

You should try to keep your armor within 5 levels of your actual level while leveling. If you want to keep the same look you can with the use of transmutation charges

Outfits simply hide your entire armor under a particular look rather than alter the look of a particular piece of armor permanently (until you transmute it again). Outfits are available at the Gem Store. There are also armor looks at the Gem Store but there is still a lot of armor available in-game.

This link should help you peruse what armor is available in game based on your race/gender and armor weight.

3. Traits: Previously you had to buy all of the traits in each section, and expend the gold to do so, even for traits you have no intention of using. There was no way around this. Now, you can choose each individual trait you want to get, and you can choose to buy it with currency and SP, or do the quest associated with it. More choices!

I’m going to call you on this point. Before we would pay all of 3g10s gold to unlock every trait your character could use. That is a whole lot cheaper than the current trait system.

Also lets say you are leveling up and now you can use traits. In the past it cost you all of 10s to unlock all Adept traits. It now costs 10s and 2SP to unlock per Adept trait. Sure respecing traits are free now but the costs of having a lot of options is expensive. Sure you can quest for traits but some of my Thief’s adept traits are locked up behind level 58 content. I get my 2nd trait point at level 36 so I’m being forced to unlock another trait line with that point or pay the price if I want to slot an adept trait ASAP because at level 36, I won’t be doing level 58 content.

So the new system eliminated by ability to experiment between traits freely on a line I’ve unlocked so yes, less choice than before or same choice but at a much higher cost.

That would be an argument for greater costs perhaps, but not for fewer choices. In fact, that’s a great argument for -more- choices! After all, rather than just a blanket purchasing of books, you now make a choice for each trait. How important is it to you now? Are you willing to pay for it, or would you rather quest for it?

Plus, let’s not look at this in a vacuum please. It’s not like every change A.Net has made has been to make gold harder to acquire and hold onto:

- No repair costs
- Dungeon Daily Chests
- World Boss Daily Chests
- Fractal Daily Chests
- Silverwaste Farming

I think as a whole, gold is a lot easier to acquire and hold onto now than it was back when the game came out.

Well here’s the problem, I don’t know, from experience what each of these traits do, how they work together. And with the cost being so high I’m certainly not going to be experimenting to figure out what works for me. I’m not a flavor of the month kind of player. I don’t use someone else’s published build when constructing a new character. And by restricting all of these traits behind higher level content or prices, Grandmaster costing 3g + 20SP discourages self experimentation and encourages cribbing off of someone’s published build to minimize costs. That’s sad because what this game needs is even more cookie cutter Zerk Warriors in our midst.

And it’s not the gold, it’s the SPs. Sure you get one every “level” after 80 and boss chests do drop skill scrolls fairly regularly but I can flip 20 SP into 30-50g rather easily and I’m being conservative and my “casual” play nets me about forty five SP (dang kitten filter) a month. But traits isn’t suppose to be some thing every player needs to grind, it’s as innate as our profession’s skills.

I’m an explorer and short of doing dungeons I’ve pretty much do all the content with each of my characters but the “play your way” mantra was all about not forcing players into one style of gameplay to achieve the reward. With traits your choices are exploring and doing all the trait missions or grinding out SP and gold.

Lol, there’s always that one person on the forums who makes baseless assumptions.

Then what’s the problem then? How can two people come up with the same name if they aren’t referencing some preexisting name from other games and mediums or humorous play on words. I’ve never had problems coming up with race appropriate names without resorting to accented vowels, first time, every time, in every MMO I played.

As others have suggested, if you are having problems there are numerous fantasy name generators or baby name sites to come up with something.

You all have to remember that KongZhong runs numerous games, if they think the hardware would make more money allocated to another game or another new game to handle the surge, then it’s what’s best for them.

It was pointed out in an article about China gaming that the individual player wants, needs to show off to others how much superior they are to the next player. So IMO a game like Guild Wars 2 where the basic design is for co-op gameplay isn’t the best environment for a gaming population where “keeping up with the Jones’” and flaunting you’re wealth is SOP.

Behellagh.1468

It all depends on your point of view.

For a player who is settled in their ways and activities, it’s less choice. The changes eliminated same things that I’ve been doing every night for the past year or more.

From ANet’s point of view, there is a much larger game world out there and types of play than the very focused, limited way some may be playing. To “encourage” those players to move out of their comfort zone, they may actually discover more of the game to have fun in than running paths, strip mining zones and boarding the boss train (toot-toot). They see it as showing players a greater range of options to play than so in their eyes it’s increasing choices a player is exposed too.

Problem with the second approach is that it assumes that players hadn’t tried those other activities and made an informed decision to do the ones they had been doing for the last year as the lesser of evils.

A lot of initiative there Hellswrath. This game does not run you on rails or push you out of a zone you are too low of a level. Open up your map and take a look. There are three exits out of that map, one to the Norn City where you can get a gate to Lion’s Arch and from there the other race’s cities and two exits into Level 15-25 maps.

Now since you are level 12, you can look for little telescopes on your map and go to them, they are scouts and can direct you to what passes as fixed quests in this game. But really this game sort of requires you to be motivated to explore the map and find things to do on your own.

But if you have never been to Iron Marches, so it’s not on the map so you don’t even know the what zone you’ve been to to start in to make your way there. First day was Queensdale which isn’t that big of a deal, gate to DR and exit into Queensdale. Easy Peasy to get to. Iron Marches, not so much. Go to BC, go to the far northeast side of Ashford and find the gate to the Iron Marches. Sure there’s a waypoint right there, if you had map cleared Ashford already.

So if you have never been there, waiting the full hour and 50 minutes to reset Maw max is probably quicker.

This ranks up with needing to do an event in a level 60 zone to unlock a novice trait that I could have put a point in at level 36.

You can still find it on the map. You can hover over the level ranges and the name of the map will pop up. And I’d imagine if you asked for where Iron Marches was because you didn’t have it, someone would post a waypoint for it in map chat. Or ask someone on your friends list or in your guild. Or in game go /wiki Iron Marches. That should give you an indication of where Iron Marches is.

And yes, depending on where Maw was on it’s timer it may be quicker. But don’t act like the fourth option is not there when complaining about being forced to do ONE of the other Dailies. No one, except maybe those below level 31, didn’t have a fourth PvE option to do instead of Maw. If they chose to wait for Maw after knowing he just spawned and was killed, then that is their choice and they get to reap the consequences.

As I really highly doubt it would take someone more than 50 minutes to find Iron Marches. And even if it did take them 50 minutes, Maw is on a 1 hour 30 minute timer so that would give them at most 40 minutes to do the events if they were unlucky enough to pop on right after Maw happened.

I’m looking at this from the PoV of a player who haven’t mapped the world yet. If you didn’t popup the wiki you may be under the impression you could get there from DP, you can’t. At the Queensdale players were calling up events using the WP link, that doesn’t help if you hadn’t unlocked that waypoint first, so for a new player in a new map, the 4 event daily could be rather time consuming.

Just saying with the broad region specific dailies were a lot easier to do than these specific map ones, if you don’t have those maps and their WPs revealed and unlocked.

And I was just going to ask about that. It’s a bit easier to tab between PvE, PvP and WvW with that daily interface than stare at the daily list in the AP area. Plus it would be nice to bring up the Login Reward Chart to see what is coming up soon.

Yes but there are players, like me, who never/rarely play PvP or WvW (or Fractals) and the new daily system can seem horrible compared to the old system in which you could get five in PvE without really trying.

So far the most annoying ones have been getting 4 events on a specific map. On a map I know like the back of my hand, not a problem really but on a map I haven’t played so much that I know what the mat will be at every location on the map simply seeing where they are (as in over there is a silver node, there a onion node, etc ) I don’t know where the DEs spring up or how often they are on repeat.

Cost-efficiency: promoting t5 or buying t6?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Most times, if your plan is to use the T6, it’s not cost effective. Fine mats more so than common.

Search the page for “5, 0c” to identify the T5 to T6 promotions and check if profit if used is positive. Note this varies as prices change.

Solution to the new dailies

Oh for the love of god stop whining so much you bunch of kitten.

The dailies before told you exactly what to do, it just so happens that you would complete them no matter what.

All you are doing is complaining that now you have to waste 2min of your life to complete them. Boo hoo, poor little thing.

A daily that’s 4 events in a zone you may not be familiar with as to where and how frequent they occur is a bit more than 2 minutes.

No more AP for individual dailies? Really?

The problem the OP is having is it will muddle the use of AP as a filter for speedruns and uberboss team formation.

Got to keep those unwashed masses out of elite AP club.

Dailies now exclude non 80s

But you can still level your character, since daily rewards often include account bound experience. You can do the daily on anyone and just put the experience in your chest for the character you’re leveling.

Anyway, two of the dailies your lowbie could do.

So if your lowbie did the vista, and the gathering, both of which he could do, he could then go into WvW and buy with badges pretty much anything to get the third daily, without PvPing at all.

In fact, I did today’s daily on a lowbie.

Your missing the point of the op there are people who have low level characters for instance the new players who dont have lvl 80 characters to run into those zones. Its not about the exp per se but the small daily pool for newbies in the pve environment they are now forced to go to pvp or wvw to try get their dailys

Lowbie characters get different dailies. I know this for a fact. I’m looking right now at a new account with a 41 level character as the max character. These are the dailies for PvE.

Daily Ascalon Vista Viewer
Daily Queensdale Event Completer
Daily Kryta Lumberer
Daily Great Jungle Wurm

Those where the post patch, before reset, daily PvE choices. Today included a 11-20 fractal and Silverwastes.

New monthlies - will they still reward AP's?

I don’t believe they award any APs. And it’s not really a monthly but a loop of 28 rewards you get for logging in.
