The Internet is designed to deliver data, there is nothing in the spec that guarantees latency or even packet order. I’m always marvel at the fact that real time game play runs as well as it does on the Internet.

This is a cart/horse issue. They first have to decide to release the game into other Asian markets. There isn’t a Korean language pack either. So until NCSOFT thinks it’s worth releasing the game into those markets, don’t expect them to work on a language pack. And if that comes to pass the likelihood of it being included for NA/EU is unlikely. Those game servers will likely be localized as well or maybe handled the same way as the EU region is with language specific servers since they have to be setup in groups of 3 for WvW. But Japan just got B&S so I wouldn’t think they would want multiple MMOs released near each other.

Over the past week I see bolt being sold for as little as 2800g and for as much as 3600g. In the last 24 hours I see sales at 3300 and 3350g. So yeah that 3100g isn’t that low of a bid.

Consumer psychology says that would be a bad move. JC Penney tried the radical notion of offering low prices all the time that matched their previous sale prices and their sales went into the toilet because consumers are trained to only buy on sales or limited time offers. That’s why the Sunday paper is full of circulars. BUY NOW! SAVE! HOT DEAL!

So rotating out merch until demand is pent up is for the best. And they would never raise prices without some kind of added benefit besides always there. That’s just dumb.

ANet isn’t Sony (Everquest) or Blizzard in terms of putting on an exclusive con for their players. But they do sometimes go to general fandom cons and announce it on the forums and social media. In the first season we had an evolving story that we got every 2 weeks that lasted about four before vanishing forever. So there was always something new to do and earn achievements for and sometimes an exclusive (not as much anymore) skin or title. It’s like going on vacation and when you returned home you missed some major event in your town. You weren’t there so you didn’t get to experience it. The world moves on.

For those players who took time off, they were disappointed that they missed sometimes map altering events as well as rewards. The remnants of those events are everywhere, the most obvious until recently was the destroyed Lion’s Arch although the devastation of Kessex Hills is still quite prominent. There was a believe by some that the work that went into this type of content doesn’t really count as content due to it’s transitory nature. Also because it didn’t last for long, a dedicated player could accomplish all of it in a matter of hours, most players a day or two and so the argument was also that it wasn’t much content.

That led to the 2nd season which takes place in two new zones with minimal if any changes to the rest of the Tyria maps. It was shorter with 8 instead of 20 chapters but those chapters don’t go away and can be replayed by every character current or future. This second season ties the first season to the expansion in terms of story.

Tip of the day: Sell to tradint post

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Behellagh.1468

Behellagh.1468

Why is this thread still going? The entire point was that I, probably like most noobs, sold everything in stores. If you rather sell things directly to the trading post, you’ll make a ton more money. That’s it. I don’t give a flying kitten about min/maxing things in the trading post, or anything like that. Sure, if we’re talking Exotic gear and higher, selling over time will pay off. But that’s not what I am talking about. I’m talking about being level 20 and never having money for anything, as I sold everything in stores. After playing for weeks, I had a total of 2.6 gold. After selling directly to the trading post, I made 3.5 gold in one day. THAT is what this thread was about. Sigh…

Believe me, we aren’t even close to min/maxing the TP. Most are simply pointing out that setting a sell price above the high bid but below the low ask can make you more with the trade off that it may take an hour/day to sell.

Most have congratulated you for making this step in earning but for a tiny amount of time and effort a player could earn a bit more. That’s all. Some people hate to see players sell immediate at 10 s while others are selling to the buy immediate crowd at 15 s and lose out.

1) It’s in the Options panel, look for “Show Skill Recharge”. I think you have to scroll down to find it.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Options#User_Interface

2) I use invisible bags so items I want to keep don’t show up on the sell panel. My other weapons for example. I haven’t tried any of the sorting bags. I flush mats to collections all the time and then salvage items below rare in the field and flush mats again. This leaves me with unsalvagable, rares and above and junk. I flush junk at the nearest NPC and keep going.

3) Either way is valid. Learning on your own could get you in a rut where you are actually playing poorly for the profession and simply not realize it because PvE is relatively easy.

4) That’s a question that launched a 1000 flame wars on the profession boards.

No but to NCSOFT and other Korean MMO companies, they see China as a large untapped source of income. Nexon for instance is currently getting 44% of it’s income from China which is more than their income from Korea 1Q15. NCSOFT wants some of that which is why over the last few years they were pushing their properties, including GW2, onto China in hopes to significantly increase their income. So be “generic” Asia in your fantasy game (re: China/Korea) not a mashup.

Well then you have to do your research to pick a price. Not terribly important at 55c levels but at 200 g for immediate? You go check out the history at gw2tp to see the trading range. What were the prices previous ones sold at (points in the history the ask goes up because an item was sold). Use those points to get an idea what players were willing to pay and price it in that range rather than knocking a copper or even a gold off the current low ask. And this topic is why I never bother running dungeons in GW2. I love running instances/dungeons in other mmorpgs. Dungeons ain’t even timed compared to other MMO where time ranking might determine loots. Yet people make it all competitive that extra few minutes to getting their gold. The design is forgiving, unfortunately GW2 players make playing it unforgiving with certain mindsets.

Actually every mmo has a best way of running instances and every group in any mmo will want to do instances as painless and quick as possible. There is simply no need to make something take longer – unless you are doing a fun 5-necro run in CoE just for the sake of it.

Except if you don’t want to swap out equipment, profession, runes, skills, traits, etc. I’m playing cause I enjoy playing. You make it seem like it’s a chore you want to get out of the way as fast as possible. “Ah geez, do I have to run AC1P.”

Then be clear in your LFG comment. Also if it take 50 minutes to run inefficiently when it takes 30 to run efficiently then spending more than 20 minutes vetting players is silly. It’s like cruising the parking lot for a close spot for your health club.

It is “silly” to play in a manner that is fun for you ?

That seems contrary to the whole concept of playing a game to me. I would counter that saving time by not putting in the effort to vet your team, if having an efficient team run is what you find fun, would be silly. “Yay I saved time but hated the experience as a result.”

That said, yes LFG descriptions should be specific if you want specific responses.

My point being that it’s often said that efficiency so more paths can be done in the same amount of time. If time is so important then why spend so much time getting the perfect “group” because I wager that at least one will leave after that path is done meaning you have to vet again with the delay possibly causing other teammates to leave.

As for hating the experience I would hate the mundane ridged running of path. No time to look around. So ridged that a single mistake means failure. It’s too fragile of a play style. If the devs ever randomize the location and composition of mobs and boss AI all you “efficient” players would be howling because skill and flexibility would be required rather than following steps by rote.

Except you aren’t a new player. It’s aggravating leveling up when you are use to your max level, twinked out character. Pre NPE it was annoying waiting to get your weapon swap. Or annoying unlocking a utility slot but having not enough skill points for a skill in that slot. At least now you don’t trap yourself because you were buying up skills as fast as possible.

NPE was a lot worse before this last pass.

The PS was changed because too many players were using it to level their character and became confused as what to do because the next link in the story is above their level. The PS wasn’t a tutorial or introductory series of quests that’s found in other MMOs. So they locked the whole chapter to whatever the max level was for that chapter so now the level gaps occur more naturally between chapters than within them. This does make sense.

“Efficiently” is just a pleasant way to “not stupidly” according to farmers. Not everyone measures enjoyment in gold/runs per hour.

Nobody is suggesting everyone must take everyone but if you aren’t specific about your LFG then don’t get ticked at who joins. If you get kicked because you couldn’t bother to read or be bothered to learn how to decipher the LFG comment that’s on you. If you kick someone whisper to them why so they understand what they did wrong and be polite. Don’t attempt to take over someone else’s group.

This should be obvious to players yet we have people who actively stated that players shouldn’t run dungeons if they aren’t following the meta exactly. That they are stupid if they don’t. That they shouldn’t even bother trying to form a group because no one will join them.

We also have those who believe pugs have always been random so learn to live with the chaos of a less than efficient run rather than telling everyone who doesn’t fit your ideal to take a hike. So you have a lot of players upset that nobody is letting them join a team. They don’t want to form a team because usually that means that they are the leader and some would rather follow an experienced person.

So if everyone can take a step back, take a deep breath and remember that not everyone is simply wants to run a dungeon.

While experienced players get annoyed and frustrated, new players get discouraged or outright turned off of dungeons because so few are willing to accept them in a pug. They would love someone to show them the ropes and be patient with them.

But there are those who believe and are quite vocal about it here that ONLY players spec a certain way, of certain classes who have memorized what to do from YouTube videos should be allowed to join their “Pick Up Group”. Pugs have traditionally a crap shoot yet there are players who assume that everyone is on the same page here simply by being at the dungeon. Find players of like mind, add them to your friends list or form a dungeon run guild (which is what most guilds are anyways) and stop being disappointed by who you pick up at the entrance.

I’m sure that except for a few, most have no idea that they are violating your, sometimes ridiculous, requirements.

Start your own group, put the tagline “anyone welcome” the only people who will now join your group are those who genuinely do not care, because anyone who does care will see that tag and think “oh, i won’t join that group, probably some beginners/newbs in that group”.

It’s not “elitism” it’s the fact that most people playing this game have run these dungeons over and over again for hundreds of days, they’re sick to death of them, but they’re a good form of income, so naturally they just want to get them over and done with as quick as they possibly can.

Yet have have gotten, in the past before the change, two zerkers who joined and then booted me and anyone else who at joined before them with that exact comment in my LFG. Now you need three of course but that doesn’t preclude them from dropping out during the first boss leaving the rest of the team high and dry.

Anet just need to finally wake up and add a random queue system.

It’s 2015, for goodness sake…

Then, people will get what they get and if they don’t like that, they can make/join guilds with likeminded people and run their pedantic, uptight hearts out with them.

…and open the flood gates for people trolling, griefing, afking?

Like people don’t grief and troll now?

Anything is better than what we have now, frankly.

I prefer being able to choose what people to play with and being able to kick those who don’t want to play as a group, replacing this with a purely random system would be horrible.

I think the suggestion was for adding to and not replacing the current system. One of the causes is because players get impatient after waiting a ridiculously short amount of time and join whatever team is open. If we had a “don’t care get me on any team” button then those pugs can get on the way and while they can grouse that their teammates don’t know what the heck they are doing they can’t complain about the unfairness of it cause they know what they could get using such a team matching system.

Well, a fair enough alternative to me would be to add the functionality to all picks while at the same time allowing them to be re-skinned through a merchant for the purpose

This sounds like it’d be an excellent approach. I’ve gone with each of the Mad Scientist tools for theme, but would love to have the bonus present with the Watchwork. Plus, if it’d require buying both items in order to have the functionality of one and the appearance of the other, that’s more money in ArenaNet’s pocket. Surely THEY wouldn’t complain about it.

Yes they would because it would unbalance the economy. Not everything ANet does is to make more money. That is a lazy excuse used by unhappy players because something they liked got changed/shut down so it MUST be all about money.

It was rightfully pointed out at the time that the watchwork pick was bordering on Pay 2 Win, or at least Pay 2 Earn in game coin and ANet pulled back from doing that anymore. Heck even the slightly faster Consortium Sickle caused an uproar. And removing the sprocket drop would likely cause a call for gem rebates which they try to avoid at all costs.

XBone and PS4 are technically weak PCs that require a game engine to be coded to take advantage of the 8 weak cores. And by weak I mean each core has roughly 2/3rds the performance of the cores found in the original Core 2 Q6600 or 1/3rd the performance found in the i5-2500K.

Currently the GW2 game engine can keep two cores busy but beyond that not so much. And we know how the game’s performance is limited by the maximum performance of a single core.

So it’s not going to happen. They would either have to roll an engine for both consoles that can take advantage of all those cores or port the game to an already existing engine and either case port all the assets as well. And I’m not even talking about the logistics dealing with either console’s network.

Why do people irresponsibly post pictures of the phishing mail with the phishing link when they know it’s a phishing mail? Honestly you are helping the phishers.

For the very small percentage of players running 4K. I wouldn’t expect this but who knows? Could be something someone could knock out at lunch or after normal hours because it annoys them as well.

Do we really need taunt?

Personally don’t give a squat about issues with PvP but I would love a reliable way to grab aggro in PvE.

But in MMOs with taunt in PvP, it simply forces targeting and in this game I can’t image that for more than one or two attacks.

I believe there’s a redeem button on the TP screen in the Gem Store panel up where your gems are listed.

Tip of the day: Sell to tradint post

Well sell immediate is a step up from selling to NPC vendors, and in the case of rares and exotics the price price difference is major. Same can be said about most mats if you are selling those.

Of course the next step is placing sell orders above the current high bid which can be scary since you don’t get money immediately plus you notice the non-refundable bidding fee that is easily ignored when selling immediately. I nearly always place higher price sell orders and there’s maybe a half a dozen times that it took longer than a week to sell, most sell within hours or a day. I say I make 5 or 10% more than simply selling immediately to highest bidder. Some individual items, a lot more.

I also buy my equipment with bids rather than buy immediate, saving coin in that case.

But I congrat the OP for taking the first step to more wealth. They still might not be maximizing their income but I’m betting it’s a significant upswing. It’s a lot like upgrading to a $100 video card from an integrated GPU, sure it’s not best but compared to what they had it can seem to them a lot.
