i find it hilarious that this thread has over 20.5k views, and still no results from Anet…. ’tis an easy fix to be sure.
Quite possible but it’s a manpower issue with likely everyone who could work on this are neck deep in HoT work.
I’m going to guess that the town clothes items were ported to skins based on previous sales to determine popularity. And the Gem Shop overseers don’t see it as a major new income stream, unlike a new outfit so they aren’t pushing it to be added to the schedule.

Try unlocking cores, set power management to full performance. Instal AMD thing for windows 7 (dunno its name).
Well I would argue that on a core performance basis that they are nearly the same.

No she said she doesn’t know either because they don’t tell her in advance.
Then they need to step up and give her something to communicate, which is her job. This is not a difficult thing for them to do. They’ve had an exceedingly long time to respond. The least they can do is give a straight answer.
We aren’t asking for something outrageous. We aren’t asking for something that will be a lot of work for them. We aren’t asking to be given it for free.
Yes but communicate only the official word from upon high. She has no knowledge of the schedule of those that need to be involved to add an item to the wardrobe as a skin and then adding it to the store for sale.
So all she can say is maybe someday since there is no “official” never or soon.

No, your (collective group) asking is getting old. It’s not in the wardrobe. It’s never been sold as anything but town clothes. It disappeared from the store with the rest of the town clothes well over a year ago. At what point does 16+ months of no word means no to you?

No this is a “my system is a tiny God so why am I not maxing at 60 Hz at all times, must be the game” rant thread. Well it is partially the game since in doesn’t really need more than four cores and it’s GPU needs are modest and partially the OP’s rig because the FX-8350 on a per core basis is weak.
AMD messed up and designed a CPU architecture that relied on lots of tiny cores with the assumption that hard core FPU needs would be met by the modern GPU. They guessed wrong about how software was going to be written 5 years in the future (about the time it takes to design a new CPU architecture). The new “Zen” CPU architecture is abandoning the FX architecture for something a lot closer to Intel’s current designs. Coming in late 2016, likely to slip to 2017.

From the screenshot he provided it looks like its GPU problem. GTX 960 clocks are about 1200mhz for either memory and core, but his only works at 30-35% power while running gw2. I`d try different/newer driver

Uhmm yeah it kinda doesn’t explain it all. Resolution? cpu clock? Difference between autodetect and screen shot fps, etc…etc….
Just my opinion but 47fps is not that bad…….certainly not bad enough for an “I quit” reaction.
I get the same fps reguardless of fullscreen or window mode. It 4.3 ghz Fx 8370
Which matters little since the game only needs a few cores to run and the FX-8350’s individual core performance is relatively poor in comparison to even AMD’s previous generation of cores and is sad when compared to Intel’s. Bet you could turn those graphic settings up to the high default and see only a slight loss in frame rate as the game doesn’t really stress the GPU.

Spidy’s chart. Everyone got off on gold>gems so I may have misinterpreted what they were saying as my interest is the gems to gold exchange at the moment.
If my understanding is correct then, spidy’s chart is way off on the gems to gold exchange and does not accurately reflect the in game exchange? If so then I apologize for wasting everyone’s time with my question as it seems it was based on bad information.
And yet again, GW2Spidy’s gem exchange numbers and chart are wrong and have been since Aug 2014. If out of the game and curious about the exact amount, use the API
Query for coin for selling 100 gems
https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/commerce/exchange/gems?quantity=100
Query for gems for selling 20 gold.
https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/commerce/exchange/coins?quantity=200000
Note that they are bass ackwards in terms of what’s used as input on the actual Gem Exchange where we now ask how many gems for selling X gold and the cost in coin to buy Y number of gems.
If you want a more accurate chart, GW2TP graphs the Gold to Gem rate sampling at 1/2 hour intervals.
The Gem to Gold rate is roughly 72.25% of that.
RIP City of Heroes
I always figured it was there way of stopping in game farmers from getting any real quantity of gems and buying all the BL store stuff for free. By separating them, Anet can increase the price of gems via gold as much as they want without causing people who buy gems and convert to gold suddenly becoming filthy rich overnight.
tl;dr- this way they can modify one without the other.
Except that’s not what sets the rates. ANet doesn’t directly set the rate, it’s entirely automatic and is based solely on player actions, selling either gold or gems to the exchange. If more players buy gems than sell them, both rates go up. If more players sell gems than buy them, both rates go down. The gems to gold rate is approximately 72.25% of the gold to gems rate as it appears the exchange sinks 15% of gold for each transaction.
ANet’s only means of affecting the exchange rate is by adding or announce they will soon remove a popular item or announcing a sale on a popular item. Players will then rush to the exchange to convert their gold and we see a spike in the rate. If ANet doesn’t have sales or interesting items being introduced, the rate decrease as those with cash decide to buy gems and convert to gold.
The gap the OP is seeing is not real but a problem with GW2Spidy.
RIP City of Heroes
Except spidy’s ratio between the two rates is currently at 56.4% and not relatively close to 72.25%. And it’s because the gold to gem is above and the gem to gold is below the actual API rates (as long as the input value to the API is large enough).
That decrease in the ratio started back last August and it’s rather obvious when because the two ratios should always track each other and suddenly one day they started to diverge (starting with one went up and the other down) and the ratio has been shrinking ever since.
RIP City of Heroes
(edited by Behellagh.1468)
Don’t look at GW2Spidy for the data on the exchange. It’s been wrong since last August when the API of the exchange was changed ahead of the new exchange interface.

after i asked about alot guildies and friends
some with high internet speed have these lags
some with low internet speeds dont have these lagsand vice versa
so any ideas what causes it?
The CoherentUI TP runs at the same priority as the game and simply idling on the buy screen it’s pulling 15-20% of my total CPU Usage (I’m on a quad core). But it gets spawned only when you bring it up and shuts down when you close it. So I can see it being a strain on slower CPUs or ones with only two physical cores.

Hey guys.
I’m just trying to make enough money to craft my ascended armour at the moment and am currently on around 150g only. I made that by farming world bosses.
I was just wondering, out of the following which would you say is the best/quickest way to make decent money in game?
- Farming world bosses
– Dungeons (If so, any particular one?)
– Fractals
– Chest farming in Silverwastes
– Event farming in SilverwastesIf there’s a better way and it’s not listed there (except for playing the TP) then please let me know.
Thanks.
None of the above.
GW2Spidy says 1 gold costs about 11 cents. So 100 gold costs about 11 dollars.
If you have a real job and make more than 11 dollars an hour after taxes, you therefore can make more than 100 gold per hour by working.
If you are a kid with no work experience, you might make only $6.50 per hour after taxes at a minimum wage job, which translates to about 60 gold per hour.
GW2Spidy has been wrong on the exchange rate for since last August when the exchange API changed.
At this moment $10€ of gems will get you roughly 99.6 gold. Link will give you the current amount. Just remember the actual exchange will rook you since you only get the gold value and not the “change” you would get.

I have no idea what you expected a 144 Hz monitor would do for you. If you run with VSync on all that will change is your perception of smoothness.
For example if (big if but lets go with it) you have a steady 50 fps frame rate, that means every frame lasts 20 ms.
Now on a 60 Hz monitor with VSync on, 5 frames are displayed over 6 refreshes so 80% of the frames are displayed for 16.7 ms (3.3 ms fast) and 20% for 33.3 ms (16.7 ms slow). So a 20 ms difference between fastest to slowest with the fast frames occurring 80% of the time.
Now on a 144 Hz monitor with VSync on, 44 frames are displayed for 3 refreshes while six are displayed for 2 refreshes (four groups of seven at 3 and one at 2 and two groups of eight at 3 and one at 2). So 88% frames are displayed at 20.8ms (0.8 ms slow) with 12% at 13.9 ms (6.1ms fast). So 6.9ms between fastest and slowest with the fast frame only occurring 12% of the time.
That’s all a faster refresh rate monitor will buy you. A bit less perceivable jitter.
Now monitors with either the nVidia specific or AMD specific support synchronize each refresh of the monitor to a new frame coming from the video card (within certain extremes) rather than a fix rate. I don’t believe that monitor is one of those.

I can see how Diminishing Returns affects bots. I can’t imagine how it affects gold sellers sitting in cities selling gold.

And it shows him incorrect.
That link is from October 3rd, 2012. And it pretty much gives the philosophy behind every change that eliminated all of those rich farms over the years as well as the changes to dungeons and world bosses. They don’t want some activity so good in rewards that everyone feels like that need to do it to keep up.

The game is more often CPU bound than GPU. So OCing the CPU should make a discernible difference in your performance. As long as you take care of the extra heat OC generates both on the CPU and motherboard.

WoW set in motion a template for MMOs for the next 5 years. WoW was influenced by EQ. MMOs in development before WoW shipped were mostly unaffected by there was a flood of “WoW Killers” that weren’t. Partly because players quickly became too invested in WoW (sunken cost) to switch except between expansions. It was the MMO that “everyone” but “adults” were playing (adults were suppose to flock to Second Life if you believed the news/hype).
WoW helped the F2P market to florish as they were the next wave of MMOs. F2P was the solution not only to failing subscription game revenue on other AAA MMOs but as a cheap way for WoW players to keep busy when they were waiting on the next expansion. They didn’t cost a lot to try, a lot to play and they were relatively easy to walk away from.
So far no other late comer to the subscription based MMO market have survived without adapting their business model to F2P with a subscription like VIP system. And don’t mention EVE as it came out before WoW.

Warcraft 3 was a RTS game and WoW is a MMO. Now I can see the argument that GW wasn’t a true MMO due to it’s hub/instance design ala PSO, at least an MMO the way UO and EQ are. Then you can say GW2 was a true MMO.

Let’s turn it around
Why is it expected that males should/would play males and females females? Why is this the accepted norm, and why does it usually end in a question about sexual orientation if the opposite happens?
I think that’s because the assumption, when given a choice in an avatar (unlike say Diablo II), that the player will see the avatar as a projection of themselves but probably idealized (thinner, stronger, taller, prettier … with hair). And that might be true if RPing was a priority. But since most people don’t actually RP as their avatar it really isn’t a RP breaking issue (if using voice chat).
If you played games for as long as some of us, we’ve played female characters since we didn’t have much of a choice. Samus, Laura Croft, the sorceress in Diablo II, the gender of the avatar you are “driving” is immaterial. So when given a choice is your avatar’s gender any different than skin or hair color. It’s just one of the few choices you have to customize your avatar’s look (I came from CoH so yes, few choices).
Is choosing race any odder than gender? Are you a furry because you like Charr? What about skin tone or hair color? Have you always secretly wanted to be blond or a redhead?

But that doesn’t matter because we have no knowledge of the sequence before or the ability to use the knowledge of the sequence that follows. As long as the sequence is statistically random across a variety of tests, it’s good enough. The one they are likely using repeats every 4 × 10^6001 numbers.
We doesn’t need it to be truly random, as in completely unpredictable, simply provide a statistically valid emulation of randomness to be fair.

“If I have to stare at a backside for hours on end it may as well be a girl, right?”
Joking aside, I think the question is “why not”. In your case particularly, half and half sounds like a fair and faithful representation. I haven’t thought about it much, but my answer would probably espouse something along the lines of “variety and freedom”.
Edit: Okay. When I first heard this, bottoms weren’t really a thing. My bad.
Yep, the Francis Ottoman rule.
Anyways does it matter? It’s not like many of us go full RP. And it’s not like I feel unsure about my masculinity. My Ego isn’t that fragile.
So in the end it doesn’t matter but if you want to know.
I have a Human Thief, and when I thought thief my first thought was Parker on Leverage. Since she’s a woman, my thief’s female.
My Norn Mesmer was based on one of my old characters in CoH, an Illusionist. When I was creating the character in CoH their backstory was they were a Kitsune, a fox spirit or in their case half fox spirit The game at the time only allowed “cat” ears on females. So female. Illutionist in CoH created phantom beings to assist in the fight so Mesmer seemed the right pick in GW2.

The vista in the Eternal Battlegrounds was the one that I had the most trouble with. That vista took me ~ 35-40 minutes of trying. Fortunately they’ve removed WvW from map completion.
Which vista was it?
The one in the Green area of the eternal battlegrounds when you arrive. It’s at the top of a tower and there are a series of beams sticking out of the sides you have to jump to. I can’t do that one for nothing, :/
Makes me glad we don’t need that any more. Took forever with my Norm. Human I think took two tries.

There are Vistas at the end of some JPs. So going for a map clear is problematic for some.
Why is that “problematic”?
It takes 2 hours to clear the map instead of 1 hour?
Oh the horrors of spending time to explore the whole kitten game.
Not everyone grew up playing 3D platform games.
Or didn’t know better and rolled a Norn for their first character.
And an hour repeatedly trying a single JP just to finish the map? Even with a YouTube guide. Vizier’s Tower comes to mind.

Problem solved then.
So you are saying that you loaned out funds weekly that exceeded 500 gold to various players. And since they can’t get the gold in a lump sum or you can’t withdraw the gold they are paying back fast enough that they lost whatever motivation they had to play. Sounds like they were already tired over the game and it was your Sugar Daddying of them that let this entourage hang around you.
Now I can understand you not being able to replenish your loan supply which in turn diminishes your ability to loan it back out. But the solution of having you and them pay each other in goods that they want and you can sell quickly on the TP as one solution.
