Sorry, a slang word for an female sexual body part is more than suggestive, it’s against TOS. They already have said they don’t allow names that reference sexual body parts, slang or not. They aren’t going to let you change it back.
So in a game where I can commit animal cruelty for achievement points this is unacceptable? It wasn’t against the ToS when I created the account, ToS at the time pretty much only covered genuinely hateful names such as ethic-cleansing, racial slurs .Besides anyone can get offended over anything, someone somewhere is going to get offended. I’m pretty sure theres a number of homophobes(lot of those here in North America) out there that completely lost it when the main story featured a lesbian romance.
But hey these things do change, so I’ll made it squeaky clean if they give me the chance.
Sorry mate, being able to slaughter cute bunnies isn’t an excuse to allow you to use a crude and vulgar display name.
The fact that this wasn’t brought to their attention earlier is a miracle. Also they may have done a sweep due to a similar name that was reported and found yours.

Where are good spots for farming globs of ecto?
Better to ask for good spots for getting rares. And that’s world boss trains as long as you are high enough to get the 1 rare chest per boss per day.
What are some fast ways to farm karma?
None that I can think of. But it’s not something I would do so … ignorance.
Are there still champion and event trains, if so, where?
Low level champ trains were destroyed because some couldn’t play nicely with new players. There is still the world boss train and there are several places to get the timetable. I use the one from Dulfy.

Actually the link ends in .pw which is the country code domain of a small island nation in the Pacific, I think Survivor was there at least once, Palau (population 20,000). Since the Internet these small nations have leased out their code to questionable registers.

Another way of looking at it is that unlocking of a way point is the reward for getting there on foot as now you have a short cut. So what’s being asked here is a way to unlock a set of rewards.
The idea of using one of you gifts of exploration to perform the unlock is a good idea but with the caveat that using that now makes that character ineligible to get world complete and two more gifts of exploration.
Sorry, no bootstrapping rewards.

When Jarvis says rollbacks he means due to server crashes and not a formal rollback.
If the server crash rolls it back, doesn’t it lose the information? That would be why he says that support doesn’t have a record of him having that weapon, if it rolled back and was reset to a time they have their last “snapshot” of his account.
Exactly. Which is what I said in my previous post. This thread is about “got sweet reward from boss event, oops server crash everyone got booted, came back and sweet reward is no where to be found, whaat!”. No different than you last two hours of work on your term paper got eaten because autosave wasn’t on when the power dipped and rebooted your computer.
People are calling it a rollback which to me implies a deliberate action on ANet’s part which it wasn’t.

aswell the character model limit and model quality for other players is a good thing to change
Behellagh.1468 can you ad that to your suggestions in the future please its a huge benefit in pve since other players are not important
????
Did you not notice where I said character model limit? Model limit affects how many other players are displayed by your client, model quality determines how many of those player models are actual character models or generic models. Lowest in quality mean everyone but you are a generic model. Limit has a much higher impact than quality does.

0.175% of accounts would be affected at least one time per month.
98.228% of those accounts were RMT related.
Which means after the math, roughly 1 in 32,000 accounts impacted who weren’t involved in RMT. Across say 4 million accounts, that’s roughly 125 players caught by it.

If there was some sort of secure way…..
It took me Three. Days. (72 hours plus) to download the game the first time back at launch and it made me go over my limit so I had to pay an additional $60. I would have liked some sort of download like this.
I assume you are being smart and backing up the game after every major patch onto another device because a drive failure is never a party.
I backup everything and I use to have a script running on XP that would backup my gw2.dat file every time it changed but when I upgraded to 7 the script wouldn’t work anymore could no figure out why and the guildy that wrote it quite playing so I could not get intouch to see if he could fix it. Now I have to do it manually but that’s ok I do it after every update. But most don’t and end up needing to download all over again.
I use SyncToy from Microsoft to back up Steam and MMOs to an external drive.

You don’t expect donations yet you get over 500 g a week from donations. Nice work when you can get it.
And I didn’t suggest you should return it, I just said that I would since I don’t take donations from anyone. Been that way in all the MMOs I’ve played. Like I said in my original post, “But that’s me”.

The 500 gold a week was due to an RMT crackdown. According to their analysis of mailed gold, only a very few innocent people would be affected by this. I’m sorry if you are one of them but that’s the way it is.
Now when I encounter banners or food left out I’ve never seen anyone advertise that it was them who did so in hope for a tip. I drop them simply because it’s the neighborly thing to do in a co-op game. Even if someone saw my do it I wouldn’t expect coin in the mail and I would probably return it than take it. But that’s me.

Shadows on Ultra may be the limiting factor. That and reflections are more of CPU than GPU thing to a GPU upgrade wouldn’t impact that as much.
And you ran a GTX 550Ti with supersampling? Also Character Model Limit, the max number of other players that get rendered, does impact performance in player rich areas. That too more of a CPU issue than GPU.
RIP City of Heroes
The sensor tab of GPU-Z is showing the clocks up to speed and the temp within reason?
RIP City of Heroes
To be sure … that’s the closest x16 slot to the CPU.
run GPU-Z while the game is running and check the Bus Interface line, half way down in the right column. The 2nd set of numbers is the current bus configuration. If it’s not @ x16 V2.x (or V3.x) then there’s the issue.
Next would be the power supply being an issue. The GTX 970 draws a bit more power than a 550Ti.

because maybe some of us got the copper fed so we could salvage our blues and greens in the field and not have to vendor every 2 seconds?
Which was suppose to have been giving us 20% rune recovery rate. We knew when we bought the thing that it was suppose to give us 1 rune out of 5. The fact that we didn’t notice or care that it was is immaterial. It was broken, now it’s fixed. If it’s worthless to you then delete them.
You need to learn math, that’s not how the salvage rate works…it’s a 20% chance of getting a rune/sigil each time you salvage something…not one out of every 5, though if you want be simplistic about it that’s fine, since the majority of people don’t understand percentages anyways. Which means you can salvage 100 items and get anywhere from 0 – 100 items in return, because each item is subject to that 20% rate, though on average you’d expect 20 out of 100, that is not how percentages end up working.
You’re preaching to the guy who tries to teach prob & stats in those RNG threads every time someone says that their are lucky and unlucky accounts that are determined by something other than luck.
At 20% chance, salvaging 100 items with upgrades have a 2 sigma spread of 13 to 27 upgrade drops and a 3 sigma spread of 10 to 31 upgrade drops. 2 sigma is 95.45% of the players and 3 sigma is 99.73% of the players will fall within those ranges.
Not saying that they wouldn’t be cluttersome but so is junk yet players must manually flush them.

Can we throw in a portal that goes directly to the next scheduled event from the last scheduled event? It’s such a bother either finding it on my own on the map or clicking the link that is usually in chat.
Why not just have a floating chest with a rare or better weapon inside at every 15min interval you’re logged in for…
That’s getting close to AE Babies territory. City of Hero players know what I mean.
RIP City of Heroes
There was a time when I use to by minor runes and played the mystic forge.
However I only made around 50% profit on my investment cost.
1000 minor @ 17c (before the TP relaunch last Sept) was 1.7g so around 85s in profit after taxes. For 1500+ clicks. Forget the extra time stopping to sell off the rares and the few high price minor runes before starting again and the carpal tunnel. Took 1/2 an hour plus.
There is way faster ways to make money and that’s before the price went up to 19c each.
RIP City of Heroes
But tedium is always the price of alting in MMOs. Maybe an item that has a very long cooldown like an hour or even once a day, that unlocks all waypoints on a map. Just the waypoints, nothing else.
RIP City of Heroes
So Cyan leaning toward green or blue depending on the material attribute.
RIP City of Heroes
Well it was only free if you were around when they rolled it out. Until they added the upgrade that unlocked all missed chapters at a 20% discount over the cost of each in My Story page it could have costed $20€ in gems, now only $16€. So if you just picked up the game during one of the recent 75% off sales, you already had an “expansion” waiting for you, at least for story.
RIP City of Heroes
Sorry, you have to get off your butt and do something when creating a new alt.
RIP City of Heroes
Does not bother me either way, as a click and its its gone.
However, what I do find interesting is that the copper fed salvage kit from the TP, was originally sold on the premise that, wait for it, that it would eliminate the pesky minor sigil/rune drops (if you want to go back literally months of official game update statements to find that, be my guest).
Maybe the owners of the copper fed wanted those drops and got in touch with anet and that why they changed it? Until there is an official statement (not holding my breath on that) its anyone’s guess as to why the change.
I always remembered it being sold as a permanent basic salvage kit with all the same perks.
The Evon BLTP blog only says
New – Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic
Tired of chasing after merchants whenever your salvage kit runs out? The Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic will last forever and consumes only three copper per use –your ticket to independence!

There are 3 critters visible. One 30 degrees to the right of where I’m looking, hitting me. One 30 degrees to the right of where I’m looking, hitting me. One dead center of where I’m looking but out of range of everything but a megalaser. I tab and guess what I select? Yep the one that I can’t hit with anything that any profession has due to it’s range from me. Come on! Or I end up targeting some yellow critter minding it’s own business and not either of the critters hitting me and thus aggroing it so now I have three critters hitting me. Thanks.

Cosmetics, the ability to make us unique, was the primary item that ANet decided to monetize in the cash shop. There are tons of skins in the game, it’s just that a number are unique, tied to exotic items that cost a fair bit of coin just to salvage for the skin (assuming the level and stats makes it worthless otherwise). So players stick with the main skins that are dropped in the game, maybe a gem shop or something that caught their eye browsing skins in the wardrobe or seen on someone else.

If i remember correctly, they disbanded their dungeon team awhile back. That says it all.
This…hurts. I know GW2 isnt meant to be your traditional MMO but to leave the dungeons so untouched for 3 years is absolutely horrible. When I think about getting into GW2 again, which I currently am thinking about, I think about how stagnant the dungeons are. I like dungeons. I dont like them to be the only thing I do at endgame…I can only stomach so much forced group content. But dungeons need to be there and arenanet fails miserably at boss mechanics and frequency with adding new dungeons.
Anyone suppose that if this is true that the cause is the exclusionary and abusive behavior of dungeon speed riders. Remember the game especially PvE is suppose to be co-op friendly and not someplace where abusiveness and rudeness is the norm.
Just maybe if those zerk only, speed runners who kick others over the smallest things were nicer, we would have gotten more dungeons.
You might have misunderstood me.
My whole point was that in 3 years, they have done nothing to the dungeon/dungeon bosses. Most of them are meat sacks with one-shotting abilities. You also make a good point that the poor state in which dungeons are in is further compounded by zerker and speed runners
Actually it was more of a sarcastic response to nexxe’s comment about disbanding the dungeon team.
But lets look at dungeons.
First they have cut scenes that no party will let anyone watch without being kicked.
Then they have encounters that can be blown past due to the critter leash mechanism. It would make things so much more interesting if those bypassed mobs of critters catch up with the party in the middle of a boss fight but I digress.
Some minor bosses are “skippable” because they never drop any good loot.
Certain areas of the map aren’t traversed because a near suicidal shortcut got discovered that everyone now takes. Of course “fixing” the map so that shortcut can’t be taken will be looked on as a “nerf” since it’ll impact completion time.
Honestly it’s like the dungeon team builds a lovely challenging hedge maze and parties equip themselves with chainsaws and Cliff’s Notes their way to the chest. I can see why the dungeon team got disheartened. Who would want to spend their time designing something only to have the intended way to “win” ignored.

Asset loading bottle neck along side the 3GB or so memory limit for 32-bit apps means that assets get loaded and discarded all the time on sometimes it’s something basic like the sound that goes with your skill or your gathering tool. Sometimes the tool, sound and resulting animation only shows up on the last whack.

Guild Wars 2 is very unoptimized for AMD CPUs. Avoid them like the plague.
The build with the CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-4690 3.50 GHz is better, despite the very meh motherboard and the GTX 960, which is fine for 1080p, but it’s 128bits memory bus and 2GB memory are not take good for resolutions above of it. (Nvidia kitten it so that they can release an unkitten GTX960ti when AMD will release their new cards.)
… sigh …
Only because they are slow. Same can be said about older Core2 dual and quad cores or the first gen iX series.

And that’s due to the decision to support XP, 32-bit and Dx9. Dx9 is not thread safe, you can’t have two threads perform calls into the Dx9 API without stepping on each other’s context. Dx11 for all intensive purpose is thread safe. But Dx11 is Win 7 which isn’t Win XP.
But lets say in some alternate reality ANet adds Dx11 support, and lets for argument sake outline what the current rendering thread does.
A – Render static large scale objects, the ground and buildings
B – Render static small objects, bushes, trees, statues, lamp posts. Things that are reused on multiple maps
C- Critters from the inoffensive to the belligerent. This includes NPCs.
D – Players
Under Dx9 these will be done sequentially A – B – C – D for each frame.
Under Dx11 you could kick off a thread for each. So far fine and dandy, now instead of the sum of the times it’s now the longest of the four that dictate rendering speed. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be bottle necks like loading assets from the hard drive. We only have 3 GB to hold active assets (a reason for 64-bit support so to expand that). A reason why on occasion when turning you can get a major frame rate hit as new assets are loaded from your “slow” hard drive. No amount of multi-threading or multiple cores can get around this.
This all goes back to targeting 32-bit XP which at the time when GW2 started was still quite popular with gamers over Vista with it’s Dx10 (which still wasn’t thread safe but better). Quad cores were still a high end gamer option. So it was designed around two cores.
You may not like the way they made their design choices but at the time, and their preference to develop most tools in house including the game engine and renderer, we got what we got.
And players will still ignore the fact, if they’re someone holding onto the AMD fallacy of “if they only made it more multi-threaded”, that a change like I described helps Intel just as much. Intel will still run the game faster, just that now the GPU performance may hide more of that difference.
