I honestly don’t understand these replies. No, you can’t play where you want and still get the same Daily AP. I’m not sure why that is difficult to understand.
But that was always true if you wanted 10 points. If I wanted 10 points from the old dailies, I could not play where I wanted either.
Yepp .. as a PvE only player you normally got your 5-6 AP per day without doing
tasks that also would have let you things you normally didn’t do.
So in the end its now not even a problem when you don’t complete a daily every 2-3 days. Just do it the days when you can do them quick, and skip it whenever it is
simply to annoying.
All those AP-hunters that did 12 before at least cannot tell me that they got them
just for “normal” play. And whoever did WvW before should also have no problem
with getting 3 tasks now.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Then we could also ask for ALL experience turned into consumeables.
Why should dungeons get a special treatment .. give us consumeables for hearts and
mobs and whatever .. or just a button to stop getting exp, and then everything will
be put into an exp counter, and a second button will create a consumeable for all
the exp you have collected.
But i don’t know if that would be really a good thing.

All MMOs are generic .. you log in .. create a character .. and “do stuff”
We can go even further and say : you just click your mousebuttons and type on your keyboards .. so even every software is generic.
In the end this whole discussion makes now sense if you just use “generic arguments” to make something look generic.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Wait, wait, wait.
Some of those patches I listed are part of the ‘original’ FF 14 game? Not this Reborn version? So there are actually less patches of content in the Reborn version?
It was more or less temporary content .. like LS1 .. you can never play it again, but
at least you had payed 15 bucks per week for it ..
LS1 however doesn’t count because it was temporary content and you can’t play it again now.

That’s it pretty much. Play one MMO, know them all. Including GW2.
The day we really got raids with “exclusive” stuff gated behind them .. then its too late for me. Until then its still the only fantasy MMO that is different.

Tentonhammer does still exist?
Well, what is their method of measuring this “best”?
Established MMO #1: Regained 4.000.000 subscribers with a single expansion this year. Looks like success to me.
Established MMO #2: Expanded to China with very limited success (being kind here) while just trying to keep the status quo in the West. Sounds not as successful as MMO #1 to me.
Logic? Tentonhammer is not good at it.
“Best” and. “Most Popular” are not synonyms.
Ahh .. everyone knows that McDonalds serves a much better meal than any 5 star restaurant .. at least everyone in MMO forums
For FFXbla .. i had a beta invite .. never seen such a mess of a beta .. the game was
at that time only playable in 800×600 pixel windowed mode, and still lagging
as hell .. uninstalled it after 10 minutes.
Later i saw gameplay videos where a ranger or whatever was fighting 5 minutes
against a rat .. and not a monster rat .. just a very small rat .. i think he even ran
out of arrows at that fight .. lol
That killed the last interest i ever had in that game.

Please tell us what other MMO adds as much content within a year that doesn’t add it all after two years with a $40.00 or more in an expansion you must wait a year or more to see?
Final Fantasy 14.
Now tell is also why you are here and not at FF14 ?
I can say that EQ2 for me was the game with the most content additions, however
i don’t play it anymore since i never liked raiding, and the difference between raiders
and non-raiders was getting bigger and bigger with the years, and it annoyed me
more and more over time.

Names are unique worldwide, so other server doesn’t change anything.
However you can take a first and lastname, and that makes it much easier to find
a name.
Personally i have 17 characters without a lastname .. just be a little creative.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
What I see here are a bunch of experienced players saying that other players who are just trying to play the game and get their dailies like they used to (just playing the game) should do a bunch of research so they know there are X events in one area of any particular map that respawn rapidly so you can go stand there (instead of playing the game) and wait with a ground-targeted AoE to hopefully just tag a mob (since every other experienced player will be there as well) so you can get a completion.
I’m not sure why just being able to play the game wasn’t a good way to do the dailies. This is sooo much better.
Tips :
- a ranged weapon is your friend
- look at the zone chat if somebody posts WPs for events.
However .. personally i also am not a friend of those events in specific zones. Felt like
i ran around nearly an hour in Brisban yesterday .. and in the end i even made the
Fire-Elemental.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
That’s actually quite easy to answer. Let’s say player Bob only has 45 minutes or so to play each day. Before the patch he could go anywhere in the world, have nodes to gather, mobs/players to put conditions on, mobs’/players’ attacks to dodge, events to complete etc. So Bob could do whatever he liked, Bob could have an enjoyable 45 minute gaming session.
Post patch, Bob has to use most of that time going to specific places if he’d like to complete the daily. After racing around metrica province hoping to score a hit on some mobs before the other 20 people kill the low level mobs, searching for gathering nodes in another zone.. and oh.. 2 fractal dailies!? Okay.. gotta find something else to fill in that last daily completion. Well, there’s the majority of Bob’s gaming session done and poor Bob didn’t get to do what he’d normally do (no dungeons or a few world bosses for example) and didn’t have that satisfying of a time in GW2 today.
Hypothetical but completely realistic situation for those gamers with less time to log in. (This isn’t my situation, but I’m able to have empathy for those who are in such a situation.)
You underestimate Bob.
Post patch, Bob happily collects some rewards just from logging in. He looks at the dailies and thinks, "Do I really care about the 10 AP today? I have an extremely limited play time
So before Bob could play as he wanted AND get 10 AP where now Bob has to choose whether he plays as he wants OR gets 10 AP. I suppose you don’t see a problem with this.
Normally i got 4-6 AP with play like i want .. for more i would also had to do stuff
that i normally wouldn’t do. So normally i got just my 5 AP per day.
For that reason i can more or less live with the fact that i can’t finish a daily every
few days. However it still leaves a bad feeling .. but thats not really rational.

Let’s see…
Daily Shiverpeaks Miner – took me 2 minutes.
Daily Kryta Vista Viewer – took me 20 seconds (Queensdale Shaemoor Garrison vista – right next to a WP, you only climb a flight of stairs).
Craft an exotic – you can craft exotic essence of luck for 0 gold with Artificer level 0. I crafted a bolt of damask, sold it for PROFIT. Took me 1 minute.
Vista in Beetletun is maybe the fastest ( http://gw2.mmorpg-life.com/vista-191/40551/ )
For crafting, ascended also works, so you could just craft a bloodstone brick for example. Also you get 3 ectos for that one, so even crafting an exquiste jewel is no loss.
For the harvesting today i also got 2 T6 scales ..
All in all this was the best of the new dailys so far for me.

Best MMO of 2014 is, hands down, Warlords of Draenor. Over 4 million players returning to the game made the choice and brought the award.
And masses of them already left again because they are bored after 2 weeks or flame the forums about the worst expansion ever.
At least they had an expansion.
Yeah, but think about it. $60 + $15 for two weeks of entertainment….
I already see the flames if ANet would bring out an expansion like that for $60 :
ANet you are so gready .. you just want to milk the money out of us .. expansion sucks ..
and i can’t even imagine what would be happen if they then announce :

are able to beat.

I was thinking, maybe this would be a good time for some civil disobedience. If they want to make us play PvP, then let’s play PvP. Let’s join whatever matches are required to clear the daily, and then just /sit until the round is over. Win or loose, repeat as necessary until the daily gets cleared somehow, or you get too bored to continue. We don’t want to PvP, we don’t want to WvW, but if they force us to do it anyways, then the least we can do is not provide a fun experience for any of the other players until they give up on the idea of controlling how we play.
Must i do anything in PvP matches .. or is just logging in and try to be unvisible all that is needed ?
And lol to this thread :

Why do people keep shouting about there being no choice but to do Fractals?
WvW and PvP is open to everyone. You have however CHOSEN to not do them. That is not the games fault. It is yours. YOU decide to limit yourself.
If people have no problems to beeing forced to game modes they don’t like .. yeah,
but then they could also play directly fractals.
And of course its the games fault, since we didn’t had such problems under the old system .. because of : more choices for PvE.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Today you have to do fractals for the PvE daily. That’s the first time in the history of this game I won’t be completing my daily.
Even as a pure open-world PvE player, i could have live with the new dailys .. until now.
This however is really bad.
The other thing that was already nearly as bad was, when the 4th choice was to do
some “activities”, since those are also mostly more or less PvP modes.
The only thing that i can tell me to calm down is, that i don’t miss on laurels,
and that i before mostly just got 5-6 APs per day, and now i normally get 10
so its not really a loss if i miss one daily each 2-3 days.

Weapons have maybe 0.5% increase in stats and a full set of armor has 1%.
http://dulfy.net/2013/12/12/gw2-ascended-armor-stats/
5% to all according to dulfy
Its 1% better total stats for your character even if its maybe 5% better compared to
an exotic piece.
That was also very good visible when we had the old crit-damage stat, a whole set
of armor gave exactly +1% more crit-damage.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
From what I’ve read, ascended weapons are a 5% increase in stats. Not much but higher than armor. If you still want to do armor, heavy is cheaper than light because of the amount of silk used. You can either go by cost or how many you have you can switch a set between.
Weapons have maybe 0.5% increase in stats and a full set of armor has 1%.
Weapons have however 5% higher base-damage and armor has 5% more base defense, however only if you play on level 80. As soon as you are mentored down below 80 these values are the same than exotics.

It should be trivial to remove it from the site. I can understand why they may have reservations about doing that, but having a non-functioning search box is even worse than no search box at all.
Of course, they could also hire someone to fix it up. I wouldn’t be opposed to giving it a go..
Removing it would likely break a lot of stuff. If you think something is trivial about the coding, then it very likely isn’t trivial at all.
Its totally trivial .. just find in the code where this is generated and make the input type=hidden .. and thats it.

What would be the point of a hardmode if there were no unique rewards for beating the challenge?
Of course a hardmode should have tons of unique rewards. Else you’d get the same result as we see now when looking at the Aetherpath dungeon. Very few run it because it’s not worth the time investment. Casuals see no incentive at all to try it, work on becoming better… to risk getting killed over and over again… for what? Weaponskins with a droprate as rare as a precursor?
What is the point of hard mode without perma-death ? What is really “hard” if you
can die 10.000 times until you finally get through it ?
I really wonder how many people would still complain that all is too easy if we had
perma death.
Else you prove again that most people don’t really want a challenge but just better
loot, and if you getter better loot for easy content you would of cours play the
easy content instead of the annoying hard-mode that is more like a job than
having fun.

I was wondering which items and products I should buy from the gems store.
I was thinking an outfit and an extra crafting license?
I wouldn’t buy that crafting license. It just increases the number of professions you can
have active at the same time on one character. However you can always learn every
profession on one character and switch them for some money, or better just spread
them over your alts.
An outfit is always nice especially for leveling new characters, so you don’t need to
use transmutation charges every time you get new equipment
However you can’t mix and match outfits, you can only hide the headwear.

While experimentation is good, the gamer shouldn’t be the lab rat because it can easily create a toxic environment that is hard to undo. Experimentation for the large part should be done prior to release (or not in game) so that they can advertise and adhere to the product they’re marketing giving consumers the ability to choose whether they want to buy in or not.
Problem is the lack of goof prophets these days, so nobody really knows how
an experiment works when masses of player start to play it. So in the end there
are masses of ideas that may work great on the paper or even in beta with
only some dedicated players .. but it turns into a total mess when the masses
turn it into something else.
Who for example had seen all the problems of champtrains when they said that
we should finally get some loot from champs ?
So .. in the end either you go the Blizzard way and copy just the good parts from all
other games .. or if you want to try something new .. there is no other way then to
release it and see the reactions after that.

You should only post real bugs and not things that are as intended.
And seeing how many bug reports are daily made a response by a dev for each of them would be a waste of time they could otherwise spend fixing them.
There are also as far as I know no German developers so a response on the German forum is even more unlikely.Your message is pointless. What do you know about the bugs that I reported? And a german forum need a german team to read the bugs.
@ Turamarth.3248: respond to you was pure wasted time.
You reported non existing crafted aqua-breathers as a bug .. but they were never in

It’s all a bit of a hassle. Ever since luck salvaging was added, we’ve recognized minor sigils and minor runes as the anti-loot and the anti-salvage. Once you’ve acquired 60 of them (read 50+ inventory slots) you’ll make a grand total of 9 silver and some odd change.
The new runes and sigils that don’t even have an NPC price thake that to a totally new limit.

But it works already. Ok 2 Servers … one for US and one for EU ..
That’s not how it works… they still have a lot of servers. They just dynamically create and destroy map instances as players come and go, and don’t restrict players to any particular server.
But that is exactly how a megaserver works. Of course you can’t do that without dynamic creation of zone. Having just one of each zone is the old dedicated server model.
Without WvW we could simply remove all servernames and call the servers Megaserver US and EU .. because for PvE it simply doesnt matter at all on what server you create your characters.
Also it doesn’t matter if we have 1000 or 10.000.000 players .. beside that for bigger
numbers the hardware has to been upgraded.

That is assuming a diminishing userbase is something normal and expected.
Every single game ever released have a diminishing user base from the moment it is released.
Orly?
I would say its more like “every hyped MMO” .. and hyping new MMOs started
more or less after the success of WoW.Else … Server merges say nothing in a game where servernames in the end doesn’t
mean more than just grouping players for WvW.WoW itself got hyped plenty before it got released.
Every MMO has its peak and after reaching that peak the userbase will start to dwindle until it settles at a certain level, IF it settles at a certain level. It is therefor to be expected that at one point servers need to be merged. However that usually happens after 1 or more years after release. Merging servers after 6 months is not a good sign.
Now I wouldn’t say that GW2 in China is dying, a dying MMO usually losers players a lot faster (around the 3 month mark) but GW2 is not doing really well in China either. I think Anet/NCSoft will have to settle with a small niche position in China. That’s the most GW2 in China will be.
Without knowing numbers in China, it still can just mean that the chinese players
simply don’t like WvW.
Without WvW we could merge ALL servers into one in the end because Megaserver
is in the end one single server for all, no matter how many players we have. It’s not that simple. 1 mega server wouldn’t work for multiple reasons, unless the player base is super small, then it might perhaps work. Anet would never merge ALL servers into one not even in the worst-case scenario.
But it works already. Ok 2 Servers … one for US and one for EU ..
