Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Ok .. first don’t start the client directly from the download page else you will
install into your temp-folder. So use “save as” and save it for example under
c:\games\gw2\gw2.exe
then create a shortcut to gw2.exe on your desktop and start it.
You may use the search function if you find gw2.dat still in your temp folder.
If so move it to where the exe is.
Second download GPU-z and check if your GPU runs @16x, if not reseating
mostly helps against contact problems.

People won’t want to pay full price for stuff they can’t have and the promise there will be more later.
Are you just talking about HoT here ? In the end i payed for that expansion full price
just to play dragonhunter.

Except for one thing. People like the OP who came in late and missed it all or people who took time off and missed it and now they’ll never get to see these events and aren’t happy about missing all the previous story lines and being cut off from them. Those of us who didn’t miss can say, “Oh, well. That’s life.” but a company needs a continuous inflow of new people to replace those who are leaving. Sooner or later the new people outnumber the vets and having the majority of your customers unhappy with being unable to do previous story content means that they are likely to stop playing and go to an MMO that does allow them to do the story line.
It was a grand experiment and I’m glad I saw it but for an MMO it’s not sustainable to cut new people off from the core of your game.
But that is what a “living” world is .. LS2 has not even earned the name, it should be
TFW2 (time frozen world) or whatever. Its just like in the real world .. for example i saw the Grateful Dead 1982 .. but ofc
Jerry Garcia is dead, so people today can’t have that experience.
Oh .. or Frank Zappa .. also quite some time deadI added something after you posted so I’ll ask again.
Let’s say WoW has had the Living Story all these 10 years. If you were looking to buy an MMO would you buy WoW knowing you could not do any of the previous story lines from the old expansions for the last 10 years. That the only story line you could do was the current one and not even all of that, just what events were currently running when you started playing. Would you be happy with paying for an MMO and being cut off of all the previous content, never getting to see it or being able to learn the lore except by reading wiki or watching videos.
Its mostly maybe that i hate the instanced content in ANet. I just recently was sooo
surprised when i went to fight Dr. Doom on my second character in Marvel Heroes
and after his second phase the cutscene didn’t end .. and i thought kitten, now i
have to run the whole instance again.
But no … after i restarted the game i was directly before Dooms throne room and
the best, he was at also already in phase 3.
I have simply forgotten how instanced stuff is normally in other MMOs just because
its such a nightmare in GW2. Add to that features like no loot and unskippable
cutscenes … and thats why i haven’t got any single achievement point out of
LS2.
So personally i would at least also miss LS2 as a new player since i think it is not
worth the money to buy it.

The entire point of living world season 1 was to make a true living world. A world where timed moved on, instead of being in a perpetual frozen state. It achieved this gallantly. It made the PvE world come alive. You cannot redo it because… well, its in the past. Was it harsh that people missed it if they couldnt attend? Well yes. That’s how time works.
GW2 definetly lost something unique when they stopped doing this.
Absolutely .. i loved LS1 and LS2 is just boring for me. I wished they would have
continued with that concept, and i also wished we still would get new armor
sets in the gemshop, like we got in the time of LS1.
What has LS2 given to us beside Silverwastes ? Some boring instances that most
people never play twice even if ANet tries to force them via the achievements,
and even more boring outfits instead armor sets.
Only positive side of LS2 was, that because of the lack of content i had time to
farm a lot money and buy all armor sets and some legendarys .. but now there is
nothing left i want.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
ANet isn’t interested in armor skins .. all that counts are now ascended armors
with different stats .. so in the end it is now a gear based game even when there
is no power creep.
I mean .. the last armpr skins in the gemshop were from before we got the wardrobe
and after that we got only carapace / lumi ingame .. and thats it.
In the end thats the main reason why i no haven’t played since over 2 weeks and
i have no motivation to play anymore … i have nearly 8000 gold and 10.000 gems
but there is simply nothing to buy for it anymore. And 6 or 7 ascended sets are
enough .. especially if you don’t even really play fractals. Made them more or
less simply out of boredom.
Oh and the winter shoulders were the final nail .. even if i wanted to make them,
i’m simply too bad at jumping, but they force me now to play Mario for everything.

Ouch .. i would sugguest then to download the 64-bit ISO and install your win
totally new. 32-Bit is totally outdated and Microsoft should have stopped it
already years ago.
Short explanation :
Under Win-32 a 32-Bit programm can use 2 GB of ram, it crashes at around 1.6
under Win-64 a 32-bit programm can use 4 GB of ram, it crashes at around 3.5
under Win-64 a 64-bit program can use 8 TB memory

Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
They can’t fix it because it runs under Cider and Cider is a 32-Bit Windows emulation
that, like 32-bit Win, can only use 2 GB memory.
Now Cider has been bought by NVidia because they just wanted some stuff for
Consoles or whatever, and will mostly never be further developed.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I don’t think so, since the programm would have to read the memory of the current
game to now what it should ping, since it wouldn’t really help you to see your ping
to google.com or whatever.
Or else you would at least configure profiles like for example in razer synapse.

Don’t worry, Anet will find ways to boost gossamer price but keep linen price the same.
Thanks to all the cloth wearer complaining, leather price have sky rocket, but cloth scrap price remain the same.
^ Mostly this.
Oh and btw. grinding for ascended is just so useless when there are actually no
new skins .. but thanks to people complaining about armor sets in the gemshop
we no longer get any new stuff.

Let’s all try to add some helpful suggestions to improve the game for as many different preferences and play styles as possible.
We need more “challenging group content” .. even the tutorial and Queensdale
should require a full group or even raid, and every mob there should be at least
like Lupicus.
Also the wardrobe should be gated behind raids, else you can only use starter gear.
Oh .. and that was sarcasm .. but i think thats more or less what some people here
want the game to be, just like in any other MMO, and sadly ANet is nor catering
for this people and made a 180 degree turn from what it was initially.
So personal i would say :
Go back to your ininitial vision and what we had in the first 1.5 years and add the
wardrobe while we still get new armor sets in the gemshop. The lack of new armor
simply drove me away from the game since only grinding for the next ascended
gear doesn’t cut it if you still have only the same visuals than 1.5 years ago.

All i can say is that after 7000 hours played the wintersday was the last nail in the coffin for me.
Its not that i have a problem with grinding, but i want to grind what i like and not
what they want me to do. And now there isn’t even anything to work towards only
grind to unlock the next grind .. but nothing like new armor skins.
And yes, i had no problems with farming gold, exchange to gems, and then buy the
newest armor skins .. but thanks to the “whiners” we haven’t gotten new skins since
1.5 years .. but yay .. 3 total new sets in a full priced expansion.
New legendary ? Oh .. thanks to the “whiners” i can no longer buy them and don’t
have the mastery points, so i need to grind masses of stuff i don’t like .. great fun.

I have no problems with grinding .. if i can choose what i grind and i have something
i can buy for that at the end.
However .. in HoT .. they force you to grind what they want you to grind and at the
end all you get is nothing or just an unlock for the next grind.
And really .. 3 total new armorsets in a fullprice expansion after a dev proudly
posted that we will get no more armorsets in the gemstore but instead ingame ?
Since we got only Carapace new in the last 1.5 years i really thought we will get
at least 15-20 new sets with HoT … but kittening whole THREE ????
At the moment i really prefer grinding in Marvel Heroes instead.

IMO the only thing good that came out of the expansion was the elite professions, the rest is poodle faking, time sinking busy work to keep you distracted from the fact they have run out of ideas on how to entertain you (us). Also why have the MP’s displayed? Is it so the elite can show us theirs is bigger than mine? Well good for you.
^^ +1 to this.
Its just grind for mastery points so you can grind more to fill the mastery exp
and all for nothing.
After there was said that we don’t get any more armor sets in the gemshop but
instead it should be earnable ingame, i was sceptical and thought already all
would be a big grind, and after we didn’t get anything than carapace and
luminous (same style, big grind) for 1.5 years i thought .. ok .. they hold it back
for the expansion and then we get 20+ new sets.
But we only got 3 … and now the big grind again for the wintersday shoulder
for me was maybe the last nail in the coffin
I rather play Marvel Heroes at the moment where we get at least a snow aura
item directly as login present at the 24th, and also free henchmen and other
stuff on other days without endless grinding.

What about giving us simply some real gifts where we don’t have to grind

Oh, and the gift we get there at the 24th is very similiar to the new shoulder
piece here.
Or at least go back to the format we had 2 years ago, where we could
complete the meta with dailys, so that people who are not good at
jumping or othere mini games at least also had a chance to finish it
and are not already unmotivated after the first look to even do anything.

Nearly no new armor skins since over 1.5 years .. and a fantastic amount of 3 new

Just as a heads up, the Mastery Points for Personal Story are awarded on a per-chapter basis. So once you complete Chapter 1 and earn the Achievement for it, you’ve earned the Mastery Point for Chapter 1. This includes each different starting storyline: I believe the right names are: Graduation Day, For The Legion!, Crime and Punishment, Rising to the Challenge, and Waking from the Nightmare. Similarly, whichever Order you join, there’s just one Mastery Point there.
Hopefully this helps clarify the total number of Mastery Points you should be expecting from your previous accomplishments in Tyria. That said, the different stories really are fantastic, and should definitely be experienced, but for your own pleasure, and not for Mastery Points.
If any of you still think you are missing MPs from Achievements you’ve completed, let us know via the in-game Bug Report tool and we’ll try to identify if there’s a bigger issue happening.I think people are missing Joshua’s point that playing through the personal story with multiple races does NOT get you additional Mastery Points. If you look at the wiki page for the Hero section and count them, you find 20 listed, but the wiki says only 11 are available from that section. If you recount them while counting only 1 of the races’ set of story MPs, then you get 11.
I get that point .. and its either wrong or simply unfair for everyone that did NOT
played the story on all 5 races before HoT .. because we got mutiple points for
each race for all races we did before HoT Release.
I have counted all my points and i had 9 for level 10,20 and 30 story for Norn,
Human and Asura.
And after i wrote a ticket the first time Support told me its a known bug and i
should wait for a patch. And after the post from the Dev here suddenly they
say if i still believe its a bug i should write it in the forums and they can’t help
me.
Thats just a bad joke where one hand doesn’t know what the other does, and
i gues Joshua doesn’t know how the conversion of the points at HoT release
really worked .. because if he is right i should have even 6 points less.

No now seriously: whats the “living breathing world” part? the living story?!
Living Story 1 was … sadly the players couldn’t understand that a “living breathing
world” can’t be permantly the same because it means constant change, and so after
all the complaints how bad temporar content is, ANet has more or less abandoned
that concept
And yes … i liked the LS1 where we got new stuff every 2 weeks much more than
all the long pauses with nothing new we got after that.

Ok, so there is a gw2 folder in C:\program files (x86) \guildwars 2 and there is a gw2.dat file and bin folder, crash.dmp, gw2.tmp. should i remove those to a new folder under c>game>gw2? currently i just moved the gw2.dat and im downloading the game again. and after it finished downlaoding look for the gw2.exe and remove it to the new folder you told me to?
only thing im confused now is if the game after its downloaded and its not in temp where else do i look for it because it doesnt give me an option to save as it. it just downloads automatically. (i have a cd of the game)
Then just use the GW2.exe there and create a shortcut to it there.
The dat file is most of download, so no need to redownload it.The exe always just downloads everything to the directory where it is located.
So, i dont know where to locate the exe file, gw2.dat is here i can find it but the exe is the one missing. so thats why im waiting to download the whole game again and look for the exe file hopefully its still in temp>download folder. if its not than im screwed again haha.
How do you even download the game without the exe ? You need to start the exe
in fact to download the game.
You should really learn some Windows basics, at least how the file system works.

We paid a fair price for HoT.
As for very little content, New wvw map, new pvp game mode. new tournaments in pvp. 4 new pve maps and relevant content, guild halls, raids, new fractal design, new armor, new weapons, new legendaries, new events, new achievements. And not to mention the continuation of the living story when they get around to that, which was ALOT of content prior to HoT despite how you may feel personally about it. I’d say the price of HoT was fair.
I don’t have the energy to argue against this level of brainwashing. All I can say is I’m glad you’re happy and I congratulate ANet on job job well done.
I’m overall really happy about the expansion myself. At least they give us an expansion, a year ago people aren’t even sure there will be an expansion.
I always think most of the players complaining are usually “expecting” too much. That’s why when new games come out people get all hype up, and a few month later the forums are fill with complaint.
I usually complain before the game come out, and usually I have fun when the game is actually out.
Personally i was totally happy with LS1 where we got every 2 weeks something new
for free .. but sadly people complained and complained and with every change the
content we got was less and less in my eyes. And no .. i don’t care about LS2 instances
are not temporary, since i have no plan to ever play them more than once, and i
even dislike that they want me force to do that with the achievements.

TEMP means temporary files .. that is just a folder where files are temporary located
so you never should install something there.
Create a new folder like c:\games\gw2 and move the gw2.exe there and also the
GW2.dat if it still exists, else you need to redownload it all again.
And next time, don’t execute something you download directly but use “save as”
so you know where it is located, and don’t use the temp folder for stuff you want
