Actually Dx10 and beyond provides memory management for graphic assets between system and video memory where in Dx9 and before it’s left that in the hands of the game’s developer. That’s why in Vista (Dx10) and beyond can list the amount of video memory you have as greater than the amount your video card actually has.
But all of that has nothing to do with 64-bit code.
Also we talk about system RAM and not video memory.
And btw. since Vista and beyond Direct-X uses more RAM. That was very good
visible when AION was constantly crashing OOM after release because the
CrySystem.dll was not compiled with Large Memory Aware. People with XP
had very seldom crashes, mostly those with Vista or Win7 were affected.

Rich node gives you 1 or 2 ores per swing + bonus swings.
Same with normal nodes.
It’s random.
And Sprocket is a bonus just like Jewels.
Wrong ..
- Platimum, Gold and Silver rich nodes only give one per swing,
- Iron, Mithril and i guess also copper and Ori rich can give the bonus ore
- normal nodes never give more than one per swing
- all nodes can be harvested 3-6 time. 3 is normal, more is from WvW bonus
- WOOD only can have 1-2 on normal nodes.
And yes .. the sprockets are a bonus and you don’t get less Iron with the pick.

As an owner of a watchwork pick, I would support nerfing or removing the bonus, or make it so that all infinite picks grant something special.
If the Sprocket bonus would be nerfed or removed, then I want my 1k Gems back.
1k ? Haha how sweet .. for me it would be 14k
And no .. as an owner of 14 sprocket picks i would not support a nerf.
And also .. has this not already been discussed to dead years ago ?

99% of that outfits arent worth it because they’re whole pieces. Now that HoT is out they should work on breaking outfits into individual armor pieces. they have plenty of time and resources now. And it can’t be any more difficult than what they’ve done with the armors released with HoT.
All we get in the shop are outfits .. armor sets will be only available ingame, because
the community wanted it so .. and that means most of them will ofc. be those
“exclusive rewards” for raiders only i bet.
After no new sets in the Gem-Shop for 1.5 years now, i really expected that we get
at least 10-15+ sets maybe with HoT .. and also maybe some you don’t need to
grind stuff you don’t enjoy for .. so far i have got Revenant Boots and Gloves .. yay.

Pre-HoT and HoT has shown that Anet doesn’t seem to know where they want to take GW2.
+1 to this.
But maybe they saw the big success of Wildstar and thought : hey .. we must make
our game more hardcore because a MMO where casuals get stuff that only belongs
to hard working raiders, is doomed.
Or we blame it on NCSoft .. lol.
Absolute can’t say I agree. I liked the core game. I really don’t like HOT. I play it because my friends play it but honestly, I’d rather spend my time elsewhere and usually do. I’m in GW2 now probably 1 to 2 days a week.
I simply ignore HoT .. it only makes me a little bitter that i not even can play
the new specialisations really .. yeah my Dragon Hunter without grandmaster

Oh .. and actually i enjoy Might & Magic X .. finally again a good old fashiond

Nice one, i’ll be sure to keep my finger on print screen when gathering. But still, they are in the floor, you cant even see there names most of the time.
Mostly you can see their name only from farer away. I took 5-6 screenshots maybe
a half year ago and reportet them .. but its really hard to get them.

I love bots, they make stuff cheap on the TP for me to buy cause I’m too lazy to gather them myself :P
Do you also like people who steal cars or whatever, because then you can buy them
cheaper there ? Most bots run on stolen / hacked accounts, so if you like them you
support account stealing.
Personally i also hate these bots especially since its my primary source of earning gold
so low prices are bad for me.
ANet should finally found a receipe against the whole glitching under the map stuff.

Tried the 64bit client soon as it was up.
Didn’t really notice any performance improvement.
4 second screen freeze only during world boss fights and normally happens shortly after i get the message about server hiding pets and other players on screen. It will only happen once.
Went back to the 32bit client with no issues what so ever.
I’ll try any updated 64bit clients when they are available.
I might even do a clean 64bit client install.
64-Bit has nothing to do with performance improvemt, it can even be a little slower
since all the pointers now have twice the length than under 32-Bit.
The only reason is that it can address much more memory, 4 TB instead of the
4 GB max with 32-Bit programms. However this can also now lead to the fact
that Windows makes usage of the swap file if it runs out of physical RAM.

Still happening, crash pretty much once every world boss. It’s definitely not my rig, I spent over 2k on it, and ran GW2 on max settings with 0 crashes or any performance issues, until HoT came out.

Why are you assuming he’s on 32 bit OS?
Theres plenty of people that have been having the same crash on 64-Bit Operating Systems, myself one of them.
*Thankfully I haven’t crashed once on the 64 bit client since it was released *

Because if he has a 64 bit OS, he can now simply use the 64-bit client against

Set character modell limit and quality maybe to medium. Shadows to medium
also can help a little bit .. but at Worldboss events its mostly normal that the
frames go down.but then how does a worse build manage to get higher fps than mine? The guy at my store said that this build would easily get 60 fps with everything on Ultra. I spent over 2k on this build, and I’m getting worse fps than a cheap build.
You simply can’t believe everything that people said. The FPS in GW2 differs greatly
depending on where you are .. i can get up to 170 staring at a wall in a lonly cave
but at Karka Queen it gets down to below 20 with my I5 2500k.
However in normal open World Maps it mostly 60+

I hope you can understand I forgot about such silly thing like account sharing is forbidden after over 3 years of having this account and a 1,5 to 2 years of a break from this game. We are all human, we make mistakes. I did already make a mistake by sharing my account and now I got also punished by a permanent ban. Why don’t I get a chance to prove myself I am not wrong?
So you think its ok when players make a break and for that time share their account
to a china farmer that earns them some money, and after that when you want to
play again, ANet should say its all ok since YOU didn’t played personally ?
Do you also lend your car to people that need a car for a bank raid whenever

Overall the 64bit client seems to be the best option for me, but there’s a catch.
Although its quite more stable (haven’t had a crash since i started using it, as opposed to 1-2 daily after HoT launch), at random times it will stutter heavily, like almost like its about to crash, but then it goes back ok. According to windows resource monitor, there’s a peak on memory errors at those times… I don’t think its my ram that’s going haywire (its 3 months old and never had any issues with other games), is there any way i can pinpoint the issue (should help with the feedback)?
How many physical RAM do you have and how high is your load ? I guess its just
swapping memory to disk (virtuell memory) when you use too much of your
real memory.
And yes .. this can happen now .. the same as it could happen years ago when er
had less than 2 GB memory on 32-bit systems.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
oh.. and btw for those of you on the 64 bit client saying you have no problems..
check your process threads..
The game is STILL 32 it.. 32 bit processes etc..
the launcher is 64 bit… but the game and the dat file itself is 32 bit..
always has been.. always will be
the 64 bit launcher just gives it a little more memory via longer strings..
the game sill still crash with the memory leak, OOM error.. but it will just take longer
The launcher IS the program .. we only have GW2.exe .. that is the program.
The DAT file is just a virtuell filesystem .. or a database.

it was programmed as 32 bit game
it was designed for 32 bit systems
sold as a 32 bit game
with 32 bit requirements
if it doesnt work… they should fix it..still standing by that statement…
First : it does work as 32-bit .. i never have crashes with 32-bit, maybe you don’t
use the hardware it was programmed for.
Tip : then you also should go back to XP or Win2000 .. since those are the maybe
the real Systems it was designed for, and not the new crap like Win7 or 10 that
use so much more Memory for their Direct-X Implementation.
And i guess if they ever upgrade to a newer DX version you are also against that
since “it was programmed for DX9 .. so it must stay DX9 forever”
Oh .. and whats in generall with all those patches ? “It was programmed without
those patches .. so it must run without them” .. right ?

As title says it. Happens on HoT maps, in terms of central Tyria and other stuff ( dunegons, PvP , it works fine, yet…). Was even able to do Tequatl event. Tho here is my question:
Are the new maps not optimized for 32bit OS ( Vista here, yeah I know… ) or should I really upgrade to new OS or even new hardware ( Lenovo IdeaPad y550 back from 2009, 3GB RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 2,1 Ghz, GeForce GT 13oM ) although so far I was able to play the game, even on medium details with no issues at all ( well, not counting low FPS, got used to it).
I had Vista-64 running on a Core 2 Duo in 2008, and i think you can also use your
key for the 64-bit version. However i recently noticed you can’t download ISOs
for Vista any longer at MS.
Also 3 GB Ram is of course not really enough for GW2 since you don’t even have
enough phsysical memory for the 32-bit client under Win64 to reach the OOM
crash limit so in the end you will have a lot of lags due to swap-file usage.
Personally i would say if you don’t want to upgrade and stay with 32-bit its
even better to downgrade on XP since it uses less memory than Vista or 7.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
Be good to know when a fix is likely. I should have started with around 30 but only started with 16.
Most of the Tyria masteries I have left require a stupid amount of time or gold to obtain, so it’d be great if I could have all the ones I should have gotten.
Yeah .. i started with 22 i think, and also don’t see much that i really could finish
in any way without enormous time investment or massive amount of gold.
Oh yeah .. there are fractals of course, but i hate beeing forced to play fractals
now for every aspect of the game .. want mastery ? Go fractals. Want precursor ?
Go fractals. Want Mawdrey ? Go fractals. Want new Legendary ? No way if you
don’t go fractals.
Why not remove old Tyria complete and bring us from the login screen directly
into the fractals ?

Thats not a GW2 problem but a problem mostly with your graphics drivers or

Is it normal that we didn’t even get a notification our accounts are logged in from a different IP when we moved?
“Below is the only IP record on file since before the HoT launch and is also the only whitelisted IP. No other IPs have accessed the account.” <- This is what the GM I spoke to told me and then he gave me the IP from my old house address.
Its not a single IP that is whitelisted but an range of IPs from you ISP, so if you move
not to far and still have the same ISP it is possible you are still in the same range.
for example for me its :
x.×.0.0 – x.×.255.255

I think most people here misses the simple point that OP is making: GW2 does not seem to free up memory very well. Having 8GB of RAM available just makes the game uses almost all of that with the 64bit client. And I am not using extreme high settings. It doesn’t crash the game for me, the 32 bit client didn’t either. My OS seems to manage memory allocation fine. But it makes me wonder if the GW2 ever free up memory.
Throwing more memory at the problem will solve some crashes (great for some players). But I would rather see the game free up memory when I swap maps. But maybe the engine isn’t capable of that. If so I fear for all the players that have OOMs at the moment.
Restarting the client every few hours will also solve OOM issues. But I have not seen this simple solution mentioned by a dev. Maybe because they don’t see it as a valid option? Hopefully they will find a solution for the memory hunger of GW2.
I don’t miss the point .. read this if you don’t know what memory fragmentation is :

Most curious thing happened, my FPS counter from nVidia Shadowplay doesn’t work in the 64 bit version.
I just checked and it’s still working on the 32 bit version :P
you have to add the 64bit.exe to your nvidia configuration panel
because atm your gw264bit is not using your grapfics card
Nvidia CP >Manage 3D settings > Program Settings > Select a program to customize > [GW2 – 64bit]
if GW2-64 isn’t there, add it
Or just rename gw2-64.exe to gw2.exe .. that helps with a lot programs that have
profiles working on the exe name.

I think this ram usage is just memory/resources that don’t get deallocated on time. I am just reporting it as a problem, it’s up to Anet to decide if it’s a valid problem or in fact an expected behavior. Also, If you are going to dismiss it, at least give some reasoning that’s not a paraphrased quote of the FAQ.
The longer you play the more memory is used just because of memory fragmentation,
thats a “normal” problem with how C++ works.
For all the folks that are not able to just set some settings down it was normal
to crash after a while so the memory was cleaned up .. with 64-bit there is no
crash so you experience what we hat had 10 years ago when we had a max of
1-2 GB memory with 32-Bit Windows → usage of the swap file.
Of course maybe not so many did ever experience that since at that time a lot
people refused to use 32-bit and wanted everything to run still with Win9x.
However .. if you don’t want swapping now, there is still the option for lower
settings, restarting the client now and then .. or buy 32+ GB of RAM.

GW2 players seem to have more drama queens among them than most other games…
Like the guy in EOTM that literally starts screaming at everyone in map chat over every little mistake he perceives anyone making when he lands in one.
Its quite simply .. the more “challenging” the content the more drama ..
Or in other words, there is no drama when events can’t fail, and thats why in PvE
in the old world there were always so much nice people.
But the more ANet listens to the “make it harder” crowd and especially brings that
in the open world, instead of hiding those guys just in instances, the more we
see this behaviour now also in the open world.
Oh .. and hello to my Stalker NT.

I have no clue what exactly that 3D stuff is, but if you need a special software with

or maybe it helps renaming it just to gw2.exe

The reason for the 64-bit client is that it not crashes at 3.5 gb because it can
in theory use up to 8 TB of ram .. and not that it uses less ram.
And ofc if you play on ultra it will eat maybe all your memory at some point and
windows starts swapping memory to your HDD., and thats maybe the lag you mean.
So .. buy more ram if you absolutely want to play on mega-hyper-ultra, or play on
lower settings. Or restart your client now and then when it consumes to much
memory. I remember i had that in Lineage 2 years ago until i upgraded from
2 to 3 GB at that time

I understand that MMOs are volatile requirements. They can change. But it would be nice for the developers to at least be a bit more communicative that they are working on the 32-bit client still instead of it being buried in forums and reddit. A timetable.
Or, if it’s just not possible to fix, a formal declaration that the minimum requirements have gone up so these folks can finally make peace and give up hoping that each time they see ‘Fixed a client crash’ in the patch notes that they can finally play again. They put that disclaimer on the box and with the requirements listing that it might change, so if they really can’t fix it, they should formally update the minimum specs.
But if they think they can fix it, maybe they should sticky post that they are trying, and maybe a very vague, might move, ETA.
So you would be happy if the client automatically would set all options for you
to absolut minimum as soon as Win-32 is detected, as a fix .. so just that you
don’t have to do it manually .. and even if maybe higher setting are possible
in not so crowded areas .. but just to say : hey .. here is your fix.
Or they build in an automatic client restart every 30 minutes against memory
fragmentation .. with maybe a warning 10 minutes earlier ?
I mean it should be possible somehow since somebody here said he played it
on a tablet with only 2 GB of ram :

There’s never been any built-in support for SLI. I always had to make a custom profile and play around with the settings, such as forcing the Nvidia driver to use “Force alternate frame rendering 2” or “Force alternate frame rendering 1” until it looked right.
I don’t think you can get away with just renaming the exe. You should add a new profile for the new executable manually.
Depends on what you Profile is based. For example my Razer Synapse Profile was
based on GW2.exe .. so i had to create a new for gw2-64.exe .. then Overwolf
didn’t stay in front until i renamed it to gw2.exe

Be happy … people always dream of having 100% from GW2 updating to DX-12

But my question actually was if someone knew what reason for this sudden ways too high CPU usage might be.
i answered your question .. in my secend paragraph .. and without knowing more
about your system i doubt there is much more people can tell.
And no .. its not trolling .. when people dream of having higher FPS on large Events
that means that in the end the processor should be used as much as possible.
And at the time of single core processors it was normal to have nearly 100%
usage.
But maybe you are just trolling us with your questions.
