The thing that bothers me the most is you can take a single character through HoT and get all the MP there yet you need to take a character of each race though the PS in the core game to earn all the MP there.

No … you had to take a character of all races to the personal story BEFORE HoT
was released to get all points, if you do the storys now on different races you
won’t even get those points anymore, and they now say it works as intendet,
or they don’t even have a clue how it should work and everyone tells different
stuff.

Personally i at least have those 3 × 3 points for norn, humans and asura that i
did before HoT, but i didn’t get any for 10 and 20 charr story, and first support
told me they know about that and i should wait for a fix, then a dev posted
it works as intended, and then support told me they can’t do anything and
live with it (more or less).

As for very little content, New wvw map, new pvp game mode. new tournaments in pvp. 4 new pve maps and relevant content, guild halls, raids, new fractal design, new armor, new weapons, new legendaries, new events, new achievements. And not to mention the continuation of the living story when they get around to that, which was ALOT of content prior to HoT despite how you may feel personally about it. I’d say the price of HoT was fair.

New WvW maps ? Its just replaced content, as if they had removed all Classic
zones from the game and we now had only HoT or nothing.

New armor sets ? I think there are a whole of 3 different sets, compared to the
dozens of sets we got in the original game for the same price. And all of them
gated behind a big grind. And that after we don’t even get new armor sets in
the gemstore since over 1.5 years.

Since we got the wardrobe in the end we only got carapace as new set, for the
next 1.5 years .. and then 3 sets in a full priced expansion .. yay great work with
removing armor sets from the gemstore and give them us as ingame rewards.

And else .. you can gear up with dungeons, you can already aquire lvl 80 exotics

Good luck finding a raid group with your exotics, though.

But, to be honest? Ascended gear should never have been put in the game. It was a clear backpedaling from their initial stance on how gear progression should work in the game. Personally, I think we’d be better off without it.

Thats something totally different .. i was als against the whole ascended stuff,
however i understood your first post like :
- you need to play dungeons to get exotic
- then play “heroic” dungeons (maybe ftactals) to get ascended for raiding
- then raid for legendary or even better stuff

And if you only play open world .. no gear for you .. be happy with green or yellow.

I want OpenGL not DX12! give us OpenGL!!!!

And i want Glide .. 3dfx Vodoo cards were so much better than NVidia crap at
their times

im not greedy

i only want anet to have multi core support, the rest can wait

They have multicore support, only not for more than 4 cores.

nope is only two cores and anet staff already verified that the game indeed is badly optimized to the point that even though it appear to be utilizing two cores, a lot of the things are done on one thread thus it is mainly one core that doing the job.

also…multi cores as in…cpu scaling

gw2 was developed in the old era that still uses 2 cores….
however, dev can no longer keep using two cores as the core speed no longer increases, what continue to increase is the number of cores we have on our processor. even intel made a statement to all game dev to start using the cores and not depend on single core performance, i guess intel also reaching their limit on single core performance

Just take a look into your task manager. If only 2 cores are used a i5 would not
even run at 50%.

……
Since when i5 has hyper threading to 8 cores. You sure you know your stuffs?

50% of 4 are 2 .. don’t know why its 8 for you.

Seriously, are you even reading your comment? You even quoted your own comment. This is exactly what you wrote yourself If only 2 cores are used a i5 would not even run at 50%.

/facepalm

Also, you are the one that said gw2 is capable of using up to 4 cores.

/facepalm2

I really don’t understand what you want from me .. is my english just that bad ?

4 cores = 100% .. 3 cores uses = 75% .. 2 cores used = 50% .. 1 core = 25%

Of course that means those cores are used to 100% each.
Now if one core runs at 100% and 3 at 50% thats 25 + 3 * 12,5 = 62,5% and that
is already more than what is possible with just using 2 cores.

So hard to understand for you ? Or whats your problem with me ?

And since you also quoted the 3DFX thing, that has nothing to do with all
the above, i really start to believe ist personal and you are stalking me.

I’m not talking about the treadmill, nor am I advocating for any kind of treadmill. Please re-read my post. I’m talking about sensible gear acquisition, as in gearing up by playing the content in the game.

I also don’t want to be forced to play dungeons, and even more dungeons to get
my gear … one of my main reasons to play this game was that i can craft the
best gear.
And else .. you can gear up with dungeons, you can already aquire lvl 80 exotics
for example with 70 in CoF if you want berserker gear.

The only thing I wish ANet would learn from WoW and apply to GW2, is clear and purposeful gear progression.

In WoW, you run dungeons to gear up for heroic dungeons. Then you run heroics to get the gear needed to raid. It’s a clear path, and you learn group play on the way. It makes sense.

No .. please no. If we ever get a gear treadmill here then i’m really out, and i guess
a lot of other players also, since that is one of the main factors why a lot people
play GW2.
Its already bad enough that they made legendary armor raid exclusive, and i
really hope the whole raiding thing will backfire hard.

I find it more amusing that WoW is learning from GW2, in some ways. This last expansion, it focused on quite a few quality of life improvements, like the reagent bank, sorting bags, etc.

Thats normal Blizzard style .. they never invent new things themself, they just look
what seems to be a success in other games and then assimilate it in WoW.
Trying new things always has the risk that people not like it and Blizzard don’t
wants risks.

You know you could say GW2 took raids from WoW right?
It might aswell take other good things and implement it in the game, just like WoW is implementing a wardrobe system in the next expansion, a thing that GW2 had for years. Does that make WoW a GW2 clone?

And WoW took raids from EQ. I don’t think there is any single thing in WoW that
was not taken from other games. They even hired players from EQ top guilds
to design their raids.

However i wished GW2 would not have started with the raiding crap, since that
is mostly and elitist playground, and i already see how people in my guild that
never had raided get aware of why i was so against that.

As for the ambrite weapons, another way to get the mats for those would be the pvp reward track. You dont even really need to be any good at pvp; win or fail you always progress your track. Myself i combined the pvptrack with occassional drytop events and sandstorms. Did what i wanted, when i wanted it. No rush, no grind.

Playing hundreds of PvP games if you don’t like PvP for me is grind like everything

Personally i did it on 3 races before and got points for every of those 3 races, however
now doing it for Charr don’t gave me any more points.

Interesting … I had done all story achievements of all races and orders before the expansion launched, and I only got one point per story chapter, no duplicates. Are you sure those extra points were from race stories and not from some other achievements you’ve overlooked?

I browesed through all categories i think and clicked through all those achievements,
thank god you don’t see the points you earned directly, and after all when i
counted all those story achievements i had (9 for 10,20,30 on 3 races) i got
nearly the number of points i actually had .. +-1 i think, but like i said, the
UI is soooo bad to actually count what you have gotten.

And I am sick of bad drivers and lower performance for a still high price.

that is not true.
it depends when you buy the graphic cards and what graphic cards you have bought
ati price/performance beat nvidia at similar launch date until nvidia do a price slash. it really depends on the market and time when you purchase the graphic cards.

ati new driver is pretty smooth,. according to some netizen and articles, ati driver is more matured than nvidia but nvidia beat ati by optimising the hardware to perform well in specific area. to do so, naturally nvidia enhanced something while reducing something from the hardware to maintain the pricing.

Yeah .. and all the optimizing from NVidia breaks other things with other games
all day long .. just look at the tech froums and see how many problems there in
the end are related to NVidia drivers .. and NVidia has a loooong history with that.
Heck even in Diablo 2 already most problems were related to NVidia.

So how many big zerg fight with or against other players over the internet are there
in the Witcher where you still have that performance ? Oh … wait … there are none .. right ?

I don’t understand why people all the time compare apple with oranges. Has noone
ever played for example Lineage 2 with Unreal Engine or AION with CryTech Engine
and seen how this o so good single-player / shooter engines suddenly give you only
a slideshow as soon as you have massive amounts of players in an MMO ?

That quote still confuses me to no end but what I think it means is that there’s only the one Tyria Mastery Point to be had for each chapter of the Personal Story.
So if you’ve done all of the original PS chapters on a Sylvari there’s no more points to be had if you complete the PS chapters again with an Asura and chose a different Order to join.

The stupid thing is .. if you have done it for all races nefore HoT you have got 5 points

Yeah .. and in HdRO i tested that for 2 days until i went back zo DX9 because
the performance was worse, and the water looked worse and whatever else.

So .. just going to a newer DX version doesn’t magically everything better. And every

Since these kind of threads came up already before HoT i really wonder how many
people could already play druid before HoT, since else it is simply not possible to

doing nothing else.

The difference is Druid healing provides additionnal buff damage. That’s why druid is fine because you provides support to the party.

Oh yeah .. since you said that .. buffs also really seem to count. A while ago a was
on my way to a rich iron node with my guardian and used retreat while there was

So it seems you really can get kill credit without doing damage.

Did you have shattered aegis or the burn enemies that you block rune or trait equipped?,

Since we only got 3 ugly new armorsets in HoT so far, and no new in the gemstore
since 1.5 years i guess all other armorsets will be only available in raids and all the
“unworthy” “bad” players can wear outfits.

NOT having this kind of bullkitten gamedesign where 90-95% of the players pay
for content that only 5-10% of the players will ever see was the main reason
i started with GW2 …

I start to think ANet trys to play the Anti-LotRO ..
LotRO renmoved raidiance … we got agony
LotRO removed raids .. now we got that kitten

Still worth playing (if with no HoT)?

Personally i don’t like the new areas and i still only play in the old areas ..
so the only thing i would be missing from HoT is Dragonhunter, Reaper and Revenant.
Oh .. and autoloot

Question is also : where did you buy the game ?

Btw.: on a “good” connection you download the game in 2-4 hours, and not a week.

Hard Content - Stress Levels Increase Fallout

I’ve said this before but many players take pleasure in GW being a fairly easy game. In fact, the chilled-out, friendly vibe is what attracted many to the game in the first place. You can run across most of the open world maps without having to fight if you choose.

So it’s hardly surprising that stress levels rise when the difficulty level ramps up. And with stress comes salty players, abusive chat, blame, frustration, name-calling etc. It’s a shame really.

+1 to this.

The “easy” content was indeed mostly what made the GW2 audience so nice, because
if events can’t fail there is no reason to insult other players for beeing bad, but as soon
as they can easily fail, the drama begins.

5 "outfits" since HoT release a month ago.

I’m not only dissapointed by the low number of new armorsets in the expansion
but in general about the number of armor sets we have gotten since we got the
wardrobe. There was Carapace … and that was it i think

I wouldn’t even complain if we had 5 new SETS in the gemstore instead of those
boring outfits.

But normally for a full price expansion there should have been more or less the
same number of armor sets in it than what was in the original game, and also
quite some that are “easy” to obtain like crafting, buying for gold or karma and
not only via grinding some new currencys and whatever.

I know they changed their content release to:
- Armors ingame
- Outfits in Gemstore

Problem is .. we get (nearly) no new armor ingame .. and also none in the gemstore.

I really really wish they revert that and give us back armor skins in the gemshop
just like in the first 1.5 years, instead giving us just Carapace in the next 1.5 years.

Hmm .. your Bus-Interface only shows @x16 1.1 .. normally it should go up to 2.0 when
GW2 is running. Never seen that before, common problem is that it doesn’t run @x16
and in that case reseating the GPU mostly helps. Not sure if it helps in your case but
you should give it a try.

Else uninstall drivers, reboot, reinstall drivers.

There is your answer. Do you really wonder about overheating when you overclock
for over 1 GHz ?

if we really want to get anets attention . then this needs to happen much sooner then that time . as i have noticed there used to be 4 full servers and no there is only 2 at my last check . puts me in mind of another game from this company . called city of heros or something like that. any ways story goes anet pulled the plug on the game out of the blue . and never to this day said a word about it . in my book in many ways i think they are trying to do that here. but maybe we all need to take a page out of there book and do it to them before they do it all to us yet once again . then maybe and maybe only then will they listen to us. other wise i do not think they care about the players no more in the first place.

ANEt has nothing to do with City of Heroes. Or at least they have not more to do
with it than Blizzard with Kings Quest or Larry Laffer.

None of Staff ARENA NET see my file to say that numbers on THEYRE SERVER.

ANet staff is not the NVidia support .. and yes .. this is strictly an NVidia problem.

central Tyria mastery points (non-HOT)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Beldin.5498

Just as a heads up, the Mastery Points for Personal Story are awarded on a per-chapter basis. So once you complete Chapter 1 and earn the Achievement for it, you’ve earned the Mastery Point for Chapter 1. This includes each different starting storyline: I believe the right names are: Graduation Day, For The Legion!, Crime and Punishment, Rising to the Challenge, and Waking from the Nightmare. Similarly, whichever Order you join, there’s just one Mastery Point there.
Hopefully this helps clarify the total number of Mastery Points you should be expecting from your previous accomplishments in Tyria. That said, the different stories really are fantastic, and should definitely be experienced, but for your own pleasure, and not for Mastery Points.
If any of you still think you are missing MPs from Achievements you’ve completed, let us know via the in-game Bug Report tool and we’ll try to identify if there’s a bigger issue happening.

I have even opened a ticket because i bought a new character Slot. created a Charr
and played the lvl 10 personal story, and did NOT get my mastery point.

Support said its a known issue and you work on it, and i should better stop
playing the story until i read about a fix in the patch notes. So did support
didn’t tell me the truth and you are not working on it and think all is fine ???

I had 2 mastery points before i did that story and still had only 2 after it :
