I was so surprised when i did Doctor Doom first time in Marvel Heroes and when
he transformed into phase 3, the custscene didn’t end and i had to close my client
and restart.

From years of GW2 playing i now thought : omg .. now i have to redo the whole
dungeon. But no .. when i relogged i was directly before Dooms Throne Room
and he was also in phase 3 .. so i didn’t even had to redo the whole fight.

Now THAT is how it should be if you are disconnected from an instance.

One of the reasons why i never even bothered to do those LS2 stuff more than once.
Instances here are just horrible.

Look in your crashlog .. if you see something like “OOM” there, try the 64-bit client.

No .. its so much better that the exp bar now is blinking all the time when you
don’t have enough stupid mastery points to level anything else.

Things i would try :
- repair client
- reseat GPU and RAM

How do you explain all the cases of Gw2 being the only game whos performance suffers terribly?

I remember many many examples of people with this exact problem also stating that games like Fo4 run fine.

Why should i explain it .. i just listed a fact. If other games run fine with only 2 of 16
lanes .. good .. maybe they even run great when your CPU is clocked down to 1 GHz
and only 256k of RAM.

Still the fact remains if GPU-z shows not @x16 that is a hardware problem.

If you have 8 GB of ram, but your PC only show 4 GB then a lot of games will
also run great .. but if other need more, then it is not a problem of the game
but of your PC.

I remember i once had a case, where the back was not really in 90 degree angle to

I think the idea was to make armor obtainable through playing the game, and not have unique armor skins only available through paying real money.
It sounds good on paper, but in practice it only really works if they actually MAKE armors. But the outfit production far outpaces armor production in this game, so now it just seems like they don’t care about making new armor. It’s outfits or nothing.

And thats exactly where GW2 lost its shine .. it was a fashion centric game .. but
there is no new fashion … all we get now is either outfits or new gear stats.

And in that case i better go hunt for better gear stats somewhere else instead
of grinding for the next “meta” ascended gear stats here.

Before somebody starts the old DX discussion, let me say this : at the moment i play
a game that runs on Unreal Engine with DX11 and i had it happen there now 3 times
that my FPS went lower than 1 in some Bossfights.

As an old Diablo2 player i have gone more or less back to the roots now, and
started with Marvel Hereos .. at the moment i don’t miss GW2 at all.

And I think we had this discussion. 20 sets (assuming you are counting each weight separately) was downright crazy thinking. It’s a level 80 only zone. Many of the armor sets we got for free in game were associated with level, race and region. 5 races, 4 regions, 80 levels. HoT is one level, one region and no new playable races. Maybe we could have gotten exalted or frog inspired armor but we got bladed, leystone, another guild armor set and an addition heavy set to commemorate revenants. .

Why should the level matter for the number of armor sets we got ? For me the
price does matter. For that price we should have gotten simply nearly as much
different sets than in GW2 .. oh and of course as much playable content.

What you said is more .. ohh we get so much less content than what we got in
the original game .. so its fair if we also got less armor sets.

And if the next expansion cost $120 and has only 1 zone, its fair if we also get
only 1 new armor set .. or even nothing at all ?

Outfits are now the norm in the Gem Shop. New armor are now rewards for doing content and since new content comes out slowly, it’s a dribble.

Thats what they told us … but where please are those rewards ? Since we got the
wardrobe until Hot .. the only set were Carapace / Luminous which are more or
less the same .. and i think a PvP armor .. but i don’t play PvP.

So more or less 1 Set in 1.5 years .. but ok .. i thought they hold it all back and
then we get maybe 20+ new sets in Hot … but now .. gigantic 3 new sets in an
expansion that costed the same as the initial game.

I really wish they would go back to the old system where we had 1 new arnor set
more or less every month in the gemstore.

Can you take a screenshot of GPU-Z whilst Guild Wars 2 is running, there seems to be a common occurrence in the forums lately of graphics cards running at low link speeds typical of “power saving” mode. If you share the screenshot we can rule this out first.

It happened ONCE that we know of and after support looked into it the items were given back (and the player is now up 166 gold).

The player didn’t get the items back. And yeah, they let him keep 166g out of the 400ish gold he had from his items selling. So, he’s out the 300g they took away, plus the listing fee he paid when he listed the items some months back. That’s kind of a crappy deal.

Yes he did get the items back. It says so on the reddit thread. There is no problem here.

Good that Reddit is such a terrible format that i don’t even understand what posts

That format was okay 20 years ago when you had maybe 5-6 answers in a thread

I used to love playing freshair scepter/focus zerker ele. (I think it was focus?) It took skill to play, ok I should say it took skill to survive, as the burst was not complicated, just about timing. As opposed to this garbage we have now.

The lack of new armor sets since we got the wardrobe, is one of the main reasons
why i stopped playing since over 3 weeks now.

Best is to restart game without autologin and wait till the patch is complete.

Important is that GPU-z shows @x16 .. if the number is lower reseating your
GPU helps most of the time.

ANet can’t fix it, they don’t own the internet. Mostly its a problem of Level 3 or
Telia .. or whoever else.

Use Pingplotter to trace a GW2 server then you will see where the problem is.

I do like when people post about Level 3 demanding ArenaNet to fix it.

Short version: Anet can’t, they don’t control it. You really have to speak to your ISP and get them to contact level 3 to fix the problem. Anet can’t help at all. They are completely stuck at being able to assist you. And it’s not that they don’t want to. They cannot help you with this, at all.

I always wonder if all those people when they are in a traffic jam, call
the manufacturer of their car, and demand that they should fix that.
Or maybe if they want to visit a person, than that person has to fix it
because i can drive to John and have no traffic jam, but when i want to
drive to Joe .. there is always jam .. so Joe must fix it

Oh sorry … yeah i forgot to mention that one … so we got masses of armor sets

gemstore, and for the next 1.5 years we got CARAPACE !!!! Thats so great .. its amazing

If you got them both as a gift, why was your card used? Did someone else use it?
If so it, seems the bank was justified and as for Anet, it’s how they deal with chargebacks.

I think he meant that he bought the $99 version that includes 4000 gems.

Because honestly the expansion was bad in a number of ways – the worst however is that in a primarily cosmetically driven game this expansion gave us incredibly few armor skins to work towards.

It’s as simple as that – cosmetics driven game – no cosmetic choices as rewards – nobody bothering with it that much.

Not to mention that we only got 3 new legendary weapons – the high-end be all-end all skins.
3 skins means that people who don’t like any of the current ones they released with HoT have nothing to do – nothing to work for.

But why did you think you would get dozens if not a hundred different armor skins in an expansion? A number of skins in the base game are level aligned while HoT is purely level 80. There were unique ones in each region, each race. That assumption about HoT was a bit unrealistic. We got one region, no new playable races, we’re only level 80. Also if armor skins are meant to be content completion rewards, what, we should get a set from every MP, HP, story chapter completion, achievement, etc? Should we have gotten more than three outside of raids, sure but as many as the core game? No way.

You are also ignoring that HoT was the beginning. LW 3 starts here. There is plenty of room to add additional skins going forward.

3. Lindsey Murdock wrote in a blog that we don’t get any new armor sets in the

However .. it seems they now have made it a gear based game, even if we don’t
get higher levels, but instead we get new ascended gear with different stat
combinations .. and that in the end makes it even more boring than gearing
up for higher levels in other MMOs, where the new armor at least looks
different than the old.

Is it just me or is the mastery system terrible design? Whatever happened to the old philosophy of “play the way you want to play”? Now in order to increase that stupid little number beside your name or make use of gaining experience you have to do tedious little tasks that you normally wouldn’t do by way of achievements.

The stupid Tyria masterys were one of the main reasons i stopped playing,
beside the absolute lack of new armor sets.

Let’s stay realistic.
There has to be a ton of backlash before anything ever happens in these areas.

The only realistic solution is using a VPN until Telia fixes their node or your ISP
gives you a better route. Whenever i have problems with Level 3 i just connect
my VPN to a server in Netherlands and suddenly everything works fine.

For me its more another reason to stay away from NVidia .. have never had any
problems with my R9 290x under Win 10. And 99% of the win 10 problems i saw
in the forums were related to NVidia.

Because nearly all problems with Win 10 i have read from, were related to NVidia drivers.

Could it be that the win update has maybe installed you another driver version ?
If so install either the newest drivers or maybe older or whatever version is known
as “stable” at the moment.

Except for one thing. People like the OP who came in late and missed it all or people who took time off and missed it and now they’ll never get to see these events and aren’t happy about missing all the previous story lines and being cut off from them. Those of us who didn’t miss can say, “Oh, well. That’s life.” but a company needs a continuous inflow of new people to replace those who are leaving. Sooner or later the new people outnumber the vets and having the majority of your customers unhappy with being unable to do previous story content means that they are likely to stop playing and go to an MMO that does allow them to do the story line.

It was a grand experiment and I’m glad I saw it but for an MMO it’s not sustainable to cut new people off from the core of your game.

But that is what a “living” world is .. LS2 has not even earned the name, it should be
TFW2 (time frozen world) or whatever.

Its just like in the real world .. for example i saw the Grateful Dead 1982 .. but ofc
Jerry Garcia is dead, so people today can’t have that experience.

I added something after you posted so I’ll ask again.

Let’s say WoW has had the Living Story all these 10 years. If you were looking to buy an MMO would you buy WoW knowing you could not do any of the previous story lines from the old expansions for the last 10 years. That the only story line you could do was the current one and not even all of that, just what events were currently running when you started playing. Would you be happy with paying for an MMO and being cut off of all the previous content, never getting to see it or being able to learn the lore except by reading wiki or watching videos.

Its mostly maybe that i hate the instanced content in ANet. I just recently was sooo
surprised when i went to fight Dr. Doom on my second character in Marvel Heroes
and after his second phase the cutscene didn’t end .. and i thought kitten, now i
have to run the whole instance again.

But no … after i restarted the game i was directly before Dooms throne room and
the best, he was at also already in phase 3.

I have simply forgotten how instanced stuff is normally in other MMOs just because
its such a nightmare in GW2. Add to that features like no loot and unskippable
cutscenes … and thats why i haven’t got any single achievement point out of
LS2.

So personally i would at least also miss LS2 as a new player since i think it is not
worth the money to buy it.

Here you completely avoided answering my question, which had nothing to do with how good or bad the way the instanced story is told in this game or other games.

So, would you buy a video game knowing that all previous story content is unavailable for you to play and all you are getting is current events and promises? And how much would you be willing to pay and have no access to past story for however many years, just current events and promises. Keeping in mind that regular, frequent updates cost the company money, how much of that cost are you willing to pay even if you’ll never see it?

Would you pay $100? $60? $50?

When i bought the original game all the LS1 content hasn’t existed and i also
didn’t knew it would ever exist, so i bought the game without it and i would
buy it again without it.

LS1 was not THE content of the game, it was just additional content to give active
players something new every few weeks. It was also not something i would have
around all the time .. mostly i played it 3-4 days and then went back to normal
stuff and waited what will come next.

What they should have done in the long run in my opinion is of course bring in
new zones now and then, and for example at the beginning we have LS stuff
where we must free parts of the new zone to build outposts, and after a while
that event is done, we have save outposts, and then the next can happen.

Oh … and i would buy the original game again .. i would not buy HoT again or
buy LS2.

Most fire damage from the ele is curiously direct damage.

Try renaming the installer to GW2.exe and put it into the directory where you
want your GW2 to be installed.
