Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
Where did you get the idea “new unique class” is something even being considered, much less needed? No comments from Anet (that I’m aware of) have ever indicated new classes or races were something even being considered).
I can pretty much GUARANTEE, the GW1 secondary class is NOT happening in this game. That type of hybrid skill system would need to be built in to the game from the start (and GW2 was intentionally built to have more restrictive and controllable skill set than GW1….because they could never balance it properly).
While I feel part of it is personal “abuse”/attacks during their attempts to converse, it’s more about every little word they type gets used at some point in the future to further someone’s torch and pitchfork agenda (like a quote from a 2011 interview being used to call Devs liars 3 years later….).
Also, we have no idea WHAT the Devs are being told by their bosses that can be said or not said here. (and from the above examples, I’m guessing not much). If they can’t say anything 100% for sure, what do they gain by saying anything at all (even if they CAN say anything at all)?
I make friends on megaservers too. I talk to people, I add them to my friend’s list. If I see them again I talk to them again. I’ve made friends. It takes some effort, but it always did.
This.
Everyone is well aware of how MegaServer SHOULD group players. If you run into someone you want to play with again, add them to friends list….how hard is this? If you don’t have time to add them, how much did you really want to see them again?
I don’t like the skins so I’m praying I don’t get one. They’ll rob me of a drop that I could use/sell.
You can sell them now.
To a vendor for trash items? Thanks a bunch….
Got 3 and have no current plans to use them.
Would LOVE to sell them to some deprived luckless individual in this thread….

I know this sounds crazy, but is it possible you have to buy / unlock the previous episodes before you can buy the 3rd one? Can your friend purchase LS2 E1?
I don’t recall Anet ever stating each Episode was available as standalone modules (granted, they didn’t say it wasn’t, either).

This would require a complete overhaul of the graphics engine….doubtful.
…..
Zommoros has a 0.76% chance of giving a precursor on 4 exotics. And slightly lower than that on 4 rares. …..
Actually, the rate for RARES is MUCH less….EXACTLY 1/5th (0.2) that of Exotics since you MUST get an EXOTIC from the 4 RARES (a 20% chance) and THEN get the precursor from the EXOTIC loot table (the 0.76% chance)….about 0.15% chance. Many players don’t get this and spend WAY too long tossing RARES in the flusher. Note that it can end up costing LESS (as RARE cost less), but you have potentially do 5 times more tries for the same odds.
The fact that it’s an RNG that can hit on ANY toss obscures the EXOTICS vs RARE perception and misinformation about the actual odds abound. To be honest, the % numbers being tossed around are part of the issue. It implies that if the odds are 1% then you can toss 100 sets in the forge and be guaranteed the item….far from the truth (you could toss in 100,000 sets and never get the item).

Isn’t this the definition of “reaching equilibrium”? Sell offers go down, buy orders go up, and they reach a balance point somewhere in the middle.
Easy to check…..look at the delta between lowest sell and highest buy…the closer they are, the more balance that market is (and the less attractive to “flip” in it). That does NOT mean that particular market is not potentially a good longer term investment (but there would need to be some “circumstances” to do some significant future price changes to make it one).
You should NEVER sell an item without first looking at the BUY orders…..get in a habit of first selecting BUY FROM BLTP whenever you review an item to sell.
If the home instance had a bank in it, the home portal stone would be prefect. Right now I use the home portal stone more to get free access to a bank more than anything else.
You don’t need a 900g item for that….Enter your home Server WvW Borderland (free) Merchants, Trainer, Crafting stations & BL not too far away. Then go to the main keep (free) banks and Mystic Forge available. When thru, open WvW menu and select LEAVE WVW button in lower right to go back to exactly where you started.
If you just want to go to LA (no direct return), enter Heart of the Mist (PvP) and go thru Lions Arch portal.
who keep green runes in their bank honestly o_o
I collect them up and toss them in the Flusher about once a week….the bank is a logical place to keep them as I have no idea when or on what character I will be when I desire to go rune & sigil flushing….
The problem here is that very few players actually UNDERSTAND what a 0.25% drop rate MEANS. It does NOT mean you open 400 chests and get the item from one of them. It means you rolled a 400 sided die 400 times and never got a 400…..very possible.

This argument / discussion has been done multiple times in the past. The fact of the matter is, the game was designed from the ground up to NOT support player to player trading. Get on with your life.
abusing it to gain wealth NO
tp flipping is abuse of the game SO NO IT MUST NOT BE PART OF THE GAME !
buy and sell timer will fix that
I think the answer to all of the above is ANET and they haven’t put a buy / sell timer in the game (nor ANY restrictions on TP use….18 months after release), so I’m going to take that as an indication you are simply wrong in all your assumptions.
Perhaps they DO need to come up with a method to thwart automated (BOT) trading, but I’m not sure how they do that.

This is gonna make playing warrior a lot more strategic and skill-based — I think the biggest hit here is the adrenaline rework.
I don’t think it’s all too bad warriors knew a hit was coming.
With this adrenaline change you’re gonna have to do a lot more positioning, making sure when you make an adrenaline burst skill that it WILL land — taking advantage of your adrenaline in every fight as best as you possibly can knowing that you got to dump it on the spot.
It makes thematic sense too — in the heat of the moment you gain adrenaline but when you pay attention somewhere else your adrenaline subsides
Glad to see some realistic and cooler heads posting here. I was sure this was going to be a OMG!!!! only subject here in Warrior land. I see those posts, but it’s obviously from those that see only their playstyle as being “nerfed” and not some needed and overdue balance changes anyone with a bit of smarts should have seen coming.
I’ve never seen a crafting recipe that unlocks account wide.
They don’t (but it’s been requested MULTIPLE times).
That IS the shortest path to Fort Trinity, but you won’t get access to that portal until AFTER you complete this mission. You must travel by land to reach the Straits of Devastation map.
From Lion’s Arch South exit go all the way thru Bloodtide coast (keep heading South) in to Sparkfly Fin. Straits of Devastation is beyond the Southern most exist of Sparkfly Fin. Keep traveling via land in Straits (Eastern part of the map) and you will reach Ft. Trinity.
Alternate route (that is likely where previous Personal Story Missions took you) is South from Hoelbrak across Dredgehaunt Cliffs (Keep South) and then South across Timberline Falls to Mount Maelstrom. Entrance into Straits very near Ft. Trinity is in Southwestern corner of Mt. Maelstrom.
Again, once you complete the Battle mission, you will have access to 3 portals in Ft. Trinity that connect to the 3 Orders home bases. There is no direct portal to Lions Arch, but the Eastern most portal exit (to Lornar’s Pass) in LA takes you very close to the Prior portal to Ft. Trinity (likely the gate you are looking at and cannot access yet).
Until you get to LVL 50. POWER (or maybe CONDITION DAMAGE) is what you want to be focusing on to improve your take down capability. Note that if you go CONDITION DAMAGE killing will take longer and you need to learn to apply your conditions and then avoid getting hit while they work.
Signet of Rage tops all.
This at present. If the recently proposed READY UP changes happen….maybe not (All boon durations appear to be getting a nerf).
It depends on the armor material and the Lay line weapons cycle a range of colors in their animation. There are light to brilliant purples, light and brilliant blues and even bright aqua (greenish tinted blues) in the animation. Note that different weapons show off the aspects of these color changes in the animation differently.
On my Mesmer, I have used Arogance and Sky (but there is also a distinct aqua shade as well…Ocean does not look bad). Again this is on cloth and leather of light armor.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
The latest Ready Up showed Thieves daggers allowing for 2 target damage on the auto attack (but special trait gains will only proc once per attack). No mention of Necros AT ALL (it was a THIEF SKILL change, not a changed to how all daggers work).
Also, these are proposed changes they are requesting feedback on. These are NOT changes that are absolutely going into the game in the form they presented in the video (and they said that specifically MULTIPLE times).
Unfortunetly we don’t know if the devs will apply this change to the necro daggers yet (just the thief ones).. but if they don’t, it will be absolutely inexcusable, since necros NEED cleave to be barely competitve with other classes in PvE.
You don’t seem to understand the change proposed at all. It is NOT a full enabling of CLEAVE on the dagger but allows for 2 targets to be hit by Thief # 1 auto-attacks…..What they choose to do with Necros has NOTHING to do with this change.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
You have to avoid the attacks (block, evade or avoid).
I think this is more a but / issue with the mechanics behind how STABILITY actually works, but I agree a note about this would be nice in the description of the Achievement.
Until Anet confirms that this change was intended it is a bug.
How did you come up with that formula? Good luck with (mistaken) assumption.
I only see this issue when performing multiple key combinations or movement skills near / next to / against objects (ground protrusions, walls, etc.). During combat and trying jumping maneuvers near / next to them is also an issue. This is some sort of known hit-box/game object interaction that has been known since release and various bug threads indicate Anet is aware of it and has been unsuccessful at fixing it.
BTW, /yes or /no are much shorter to type and are quick ending animations.

Anet should give this guy the Ultimate Defender title, seriously.
just because he kept saying Anet is not at fault, although he later changed to not 100% at fault. well, since I am not as good as him, I cannot prove this is not Anet’s fault. In fact, I never tried to prove who’s fault it was. I was just trying to find the source of the problem.
now since we are on topic on who’s fault it was. my take is that the game was running fine for many of us before the latest patch, then all the sudden everything’s gone wrong after the patch. who’s fault is that?
I won’t turn down a title, but ALL my efforts were intended to get some players working. Sorry if I wasted your time.
I have yet to see you give ANY suggestions other than “Let’s blame Anet and wait for them to fix it.” (Not saying that is not a viable choice).
Just to update, I don’t think the DNS is a solution temp fix for everyone as a few Guildies over the weekend were unable to resolve the issue using this method. Seriously, sorry for wasting anyone’s time if they tried this and it did not work.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Very poorly thought out examples. How is a LVL 15 suppose to mine Platinum or harvest Mature Herbs? You cannot limit your thought to LVL 80s only (and Anet certainly can’t).
Dailies must be doable by a LVL 1 (in it’s current form). That’s not to say that some sort of level aware Daily system cannot be developed, but now you are talking revamping the entire system and frankly, I don’t see the system being broken in any way to begin with.
I would not be apposed to removing one or 2 of the ALWAYS ON Dailies or some random rotation ones (and adding some random rotation ones that are possible for ALL players).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Learn to use the ESC key…..not sure HOW you are doing decent combat without it.
. Just because others are running around with the same skin(s), it doesn’t devalue yours.
Define “devalue” and from the various perspectives involved…..
It’s easy to type that but since the actual PRICE of the skin (wait…is that a “value”?) would obviously go down, the only REAL evidence either of us would possibly have does not support your claim. I don’t give a fig about being a unique snowflake in this game, but obviously other players seem to “value” it highly.
BTW, I don’t think I implied it WOULD be a bad thing, just that it would happen.
My only hope would be something “racial”. ….
Like a Swastika armband or a KKK hood?
Wait…never mind.
Nobody running keys does it ONE time, either.
The scrolls are for new characters (and thus promotes new character slot sales). This is also why they only add levels up to 20 and not just add 20 levels to any character.
Nobody? Just proved that wrong. lol huehuehue XD
…..
If you provide some specifics (rather than vague implications you wasted your scroll to earn one BL key), I could point out how your actions are far from mainstream (at least among those that do regular key runs).
Per your ability to prove me wrong with ONE example……I have a new character started recently that I used my last Scroll on. I used my previous ones on characters that are now 80s. If you choose to waste your scrolls because you feel you will never use them, that’s totally your decision.
Sure the scrolls could be better, but they do have uses to some players.

I’ll give it one last effort to help with this problem (and I have no idea if this will correct it, so sorry if it does not work).
Redirect your DNS to KNOWN good source:
https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using
Complaining that this is 100% Anet’s fault and getting frustrated is NOT going to get you back to playing….the above just might.
NOTE: The above should also have the side effect of fixing the recent issues with many overseas players that have BLTP lock up issues…..this has already been proven to be a DNS related issue, so I am hopeful the above may clear up at least some players “zone load lock up” issues as well. Fingers crossed.

Windowed full screen will always run at a worse frame rate than normal Full screen. It has more to do with what else is on your desktop and running in the background (those items are in a “suspended” mode when in FULL SCREEN, but are being monitored constantly by the PC in Windowed Full Screen mode) than anything to do with the GW2 program itself.
There is nothing Anet can do about this basic hardware / OS limitation. It’s simply a byproduct of how Windowed mode works for graphical programs. Note that on Win 7 systems you may be able to get some better performance by disabling the Aero desktop interface completely.
You have to select windowed mode in the graphics options.
I’m unclear as to exactly what the issue is (and how booting in Windows Safe mode has anything to do with this).

My connection is NOT the root cause of this problem. In fact, my internet connection is as fine as it can be. To prove you wrong, I have no problem logging into the game and play. I only got stuck on some specific map, but sometimes I can access those maps. And because I cannot access Eternal Battleground at all, I made a conclusion that it has something to do with the map IP. why? different layer of maps are assigned to different map ID, except the WvW maps. WvW maps are locked to one IP for the whole week. Unless you can provide me a better explanation to this, you have not proven me wrong. IF my IP/DNS has not changed, nor has the server map IP, then why is it sometimes I can access them? since the map IP has a same format of regular internet public IP, I believe each map with each layer has its own server host.
All I was saying is that when the game was attempting to connect my IP to some specific server IP, it got rejected and returned a connection error message. However, neither IP has a problem in itself, that lead me to think it’s the problem in the program codes.
note: we should not be forced to change our DNS in order to play the game. It’s not a feasible solution. First of all, it is not our problem, we (the thousands of us) have a stable working internet connection. Second, how are you going to deal with tens of thousands potential new players in the future who’s having the same issue?
Being able to connect to specific IPs on the public internet does not mean OTHER specific IPs might not be an issue BECAUSE your ISP is somehow routing them differently (and potentially, the DNS your system is currently using (your ISPs most likely) is translating them incorrectly). Once more, the fact that it worked from another location (that is likely using a DIFFERENT DNS) PROVES Anet is not 100% at fault here. I am not saying something they have changed recently has not made this situation worse, but it’s a combination of things and my suggestion eliminates one of them…..where your system is getting it’s DNS info from.
Heck….don’t try what I suggested….good luck.
EDIT: Saw this and wanted to add:
note: we should not be forced to change our DNS in order to play the game. It’s not a feasible solution. Second, how are you going to deal with tens of thousands potential new players in the future who’s having the same issue?
You are 100% correct. BUT your ISP is responsible for how your system gets it’s DNS when you use their network. If they have faulty DNS info (or something that makes specific IPs not get identified correctly) is that really ANets fault? Again, I’m just making a suggestion that MIGHT just git rid of this problem for you entirely and you want to argue about WHO should be responsible for fixing it. Which is going to get you playing the game sooner?
On the issue of it working via VPN. That makes total sense and does NOT prove it’s an issue on Anet’s end. It just proves that the VPN network you are now using to connect to Anet’s servers can properly connect without having these issues. This is NOT news as hundreds of thousands of players are proving that point every second they don’t have these issues. Again, it kind of supports my theory about the DNS being a problem as the VPN network obviously does NOT use your local ISP DNS to connect to Anet servers….
Anyone interested in trying to fix this issue SHOULD at least TRY to redirect their DNS to a known good source. There are threads on this site and all over the internet about how to do this. I am in no way suggesting this is a permanent fix or that you should HAVE to do this, but if a workaround is possible, why should you not try it?
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Well don’t I feel like an idiot.
To be honest, whomever decided to call an email address an Account Name needs to take some blame for this….
I get for security reasons NOT calling it an email address is a good idea, but still….
Ok….I do get that doing MASSIVE stack promotions on lower end materials DOES require quite a bit of clicking…..both in buying the mats, promoting them and selling them….point taken.
Would you guys care to take this outside?
I do agree that trying to shove Necro down a new players throat without a full disclosure of how nitch and alienating playing that class can be is a disservice to the new player. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with playing a Necro, but implying it is as “easy” to play as a Warrior is quite “delusional”.
Not to be mean, but what you are trying to state is far from clear to me (I get that English is likely not your native language….thus the problem). If you are stating that the name “GUILD Wars” is an issue because you can play the game just fine while never having to join a Guild?
The reference to GUILD WARS in the name is a period of history in the game lore, not any reference to player populated Guilds being in direct combat of any type. If this was some attempt to dredge up the request for GvG mode, this has been done before.
Sorry if I misunderstood your point.
I translated the article and all I could really gather is that the writer seemed to have an axe to grind with the game and that he must follow or obtain much of his info from these forums in some manner. His continual description of all players as disgruntled pitch fork and torch bearers yelling for an expansion is far toi close to what this place shows at times to be a coincidence.
Just my first reaction.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Every character had a set of standard “Town Clothes” before the update. You had to turn them on in the Character Equipment screen (I don’t even recall the details since I only did it like 2 or 3 times). Per above, you can get the “replacements” for these from an NPC (Black Lion Armorsmith). Note that these items now take up inventory space and many of them were turned into infinite use tonics while some now fall into the outfit category (each character now has an outfit slot available from the Equipment tab).
The visuals of all Ascended gear is not the point…..and never has been. Legendary Weapons have ALWAYS been about the BLING! The two item levels are only related by general BoS stats.
The Wardrobe system has rendered any reasoning for this request a moot point. To be honest, the lackluster design of Ascended Amor/Weapons may, in fact, be intentional (to promote the acquisition of skins by other means). While players can take this as a “money grab” move, gem sales are MANDATORY to keep the servers running..it’s just a fact of this game’s economic model.
Just my 2 coppers on this issue.

These posts are both entertaining and a bit disturbing (from a psychological point of view). I sure hope some of these in-game ideals and beliefs don’t translate to real world ones…..

Unless you are one of the “mindless” Zergers that follow around huge packs and hit ‘1’ and AFK, exactly how does this REALLY effect your progress in the game?
I see a Champ event, close to the area and see the ZERG. If possible, I go in and actually TRY do my best DPS and attempt to not go down in the massive mob (yes, that is a bit of a ‘mess’). I then collect my reward and move on to what I was doing before. The effect on my gameplay is that I got a Champ Bag I likely wouldn’t have in much less time (and possibly a Rare….occasionally and Exotic) and I continue on my merry way. My game is not harmed nor “ruined” by these happenings.
Your mileage may vary.
I usually go the other way. Mostly it is due to the fact that I dislike champ trains and farming.
80% of my decent Exotics have come form Champ bags, so I see no reason to deny myself a chance at some desirable loot because there are idiotic players in the area….but I get your aversion to the play-style.
Did not mean to imply the OP was posting it as a threat and thus I put the word in quotes….could have worded it more clearly, I guess.
I suspect level scaling user perception error here…..

The assumption that Anet used a single unsigned number for that value storage is a pretty big one……obviously there are lots of ways to store a value larger than that in a 32 bit application as plenty of 32 bit applications do so (Excel for example).
If the above “antidote” is factual (450K not possible on a single account), that could be a true assumption, however.
I know players that sunk quite a bit of gold into obtaining it that would likely NOT be happy. I kind of think it’s a gimmick skin ankitten ot impressed….and the audio can get quite annoying.
Via BL tickets would not be a bad idea (but if it comes back at 1 ticket, there will be thousands of them in game in less than a day….)
They are not ALL coats, but I do agree there is an over-abundance of them…..like 85%.
I can’t wait to get another non-tradeable mini again.
….and non-flush-able just so they are totally useless. At least they have a collection slot and stack….(or all but one of mine would be destoryed).
i would settle for a lvl 20+ scroll, what use do i have with a “go to lvl 20 scroll” when pretty much all my toons are above lvl 20, i barely have any below lvl 30….
Exp Scrolls are for keyfarming~
Make character, golem bank, level 20 scroll, roflstomp content until level 10, get key, delete. It’s very simple.…..
You just proved you have no idea about key farming….nobody would ever use a 1 use LVL 20 scroll to earn a BL key….being LVL 20 might lower your time by 30 seconds at the most. Nobody running keys does it ONE time, either.
The scrolls are for new characters (and thus promotes new character slot sales). This is also why they only add levels up to 20 and not just add 20 levels to any character.

…… I have a huge pile of Gems from my Town Clothing refunds that sits untouched. ……
I get the OPs “request”, but the above statement is like telling a Movie Theater owner, “I have a huge pile of tickets but no longer go into the viewing area.” You basically told them, “You have my money, but I don’t feel any incentive to actually use the service I purchased….”
I DO get the “I might buy more gems in the future.”, part of the post, but the above is in no way a “threat” to revenue.
OP needs to understand that there are really 2 extreme sides to this situation. Those that used Town Clothes (for whatever reason) and those that never even turned them on….ever. I hate to say it but I think the latter group is FAR FAR larger than the former, so while the decision about what the Wardrobe system did to Town Clothes is at the very least “questionable”, the number of players outraged by the change is not large enough for them to commit resources to change it.
Note that I could be 100% wrong and the next patch makes all Outfits 6 location skins for armor and lets you trade in tonics for usable skins (but I highly doubt it).

How is convenience and looks any better then selling something else? Especially in a game focused on cosmetics?
Because I (and other players) can actually progress in the game without being REQUIRED to BUY something. Anet didn’t invent selling unnecessary junk to shallow, vain customers with more money than sense. Vilifying them for it is simply hypocritical (unless you are a hipster, occupy, type….that should be finding a job, not playing an MMO).
Obtaining that item is NOT mandatory or needed to actually play the game. The fun is being ruined by YOUR desire to look good in the game….re-read that a few times and let it sink in.
