Are you sure you don’t have the JEWELS? Those can only be put on Trinkets (and backpacks) as upgrades.

Personally, I would keep collecting but not forge any gifts just yet (if you are absolutely sure you are going to get HoT at this point).

Not calling them RAIDs would be my first suggestion (sorry, but many find that term “tainted”).

Buying some gems every month is patronage you can use….

This example is one of the main reasons new player should NOT learn the combat system with an LB ranger….it simply teaches lazy habits that will result in frustration (for the player and allies) when the game difficulty ramps up.

(Note that I’m not picking on the OP specifically and I too play an LB Ranger (as well as every other class) and find myself leaning toward lazy combat mechanics when doing so).

Looks like someone updated the Exotic on that table (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Equipment#Attribute_bonuses) but not Ascended (on all but some Trinkets).

If you put a RARE T5 jewel on the LVL 78 back-piece it has slightly better stats than any Exotic LVL 80 back-piece available….. If you want the skinny on all the available back pieces, go to the wiki (yeah, I know it’s not always the best but all the info IS there):

Keep in mind that tossing stuff in the Mystic Forge is not the same as crafting (there are no crafting requirements to use the Forge)….tho often the terms are confusingly used interchangeably. If you are going to the Forge and not seeing materials or items you thing should be Forgeable, make sure you don’t have the items in a protected container (i.e. Equipment or Invisible bag) as that will prevent them from being displayed (that also goes for NPCs that need to see items so you can sell or trade them in).

Until you get some Heros (and unlock some skills to give them…and yourself), the game is going to be brutal trying to solo. I suggest starting in Factions (can get some skills quickly) or in Nightfall (can get some decent Heroes kind of fast).

CS can likely restore the gem purchased items that were on the deleted character (the perma-tools for example), but it is highly unlikely a rollback is going to happen (and they can’t restore a deleted character).

Just for clarity, you did not delete the character by accident but did not properly prepare the character for deletion. It is IMPOSSIBLE to delete a character by accident (you have to type in the character’s NAME to confirm the deletion). One can certainly make a mistake in the deletion process (I’ve done that myself), but classifying it as an “accident” is incorrect.

This game’s issues will always be the fact that it’s not optimized for 64bit. The best rigs will still crash at populated world boss events.

I have a mediocre rig (4 year old i5 with a 700 series Nvidia card) and have NEVER crashed in a highly populated WB or WvW zerg. There is big difference between seeing slideshow like FPS numbers (single digit FPS) and crashing….they are not necessarily related and just assuming they are is a big mistake.

This game is CPU bound and no wiz-bang graphics card is going to give you silky smooth graphics in a highly populated combat scenario.

While I don’t disagree with what is being said about the difficulty, the REAL issue I always had with it was the LENGTH of the mission in total. It always seemed as if that VD should really be broken up into 2 or 3 instanced story missions (I’m guessing it’t now one long, boring 45 minute instanced story mission…).

There were/are good and bad things about both systems. Those players categorizing the new system as an absolute FAIL are simply not reviewing both objectively and statements like, “killing the game” are outlandish over-exaggerations that tend to make readers dismiss anything you post.

Yes, some specific builds are no longer possible, but change is not always a bad thing…

If you’re just going to post miss-information please don’t bother to post at all. its going to make users think that laptops cannot play games for more than 15mins, and that is just not true at all.

Even if you take like ASUS ROG G751JL it still not made to run games long time every day, if you set one on bechmark for 1week nonstop and they will die.

Then that laptop has some serious design issues from the start. Any computer system should be able to run at 100% computing non-stop (tho, I don’t doubt doing so will effect the life span of the system electronics……but that better be longer than a week….). Now this definitely depends if the unit has proper ambient cooling outside the case.

I’m not saying some (budget) laptops might not have serious cooling issues at 100% computational load on a continuous basis, but that means the system itself is lacking properly cooling design to begin with.

Many laptop overheating issues can be solved cleaning (compressed air thru vents / fans) and/or some sort of external cooling pad / deck to rest it on.

What is the actual population status of the Server you want to transfer to?

Just because you WANT to transfer does not mean you actually CAN transfer (easily).

You need a good many Bandit Crests to purchase the Insignia/Inscriptions. Keep in mind that in order to craft the Ascended ones you need to craft the Exotic version as well.

If you don’t get the Exotic item recipes you want during the Crest farming, they are available on the BL Trading Post.

You are totally delusional if you think they are going to revert this system when their entire HoT development is built on these changes. NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

Now a possible alteration to allow for a 4th Specialization (with the same number of Trait points) might be a decent compromise (not sure if this is technically feasible).

I think part of the issue here is that the same downscaling system is being used for Open World PvE and Dungeons. Those complaining about the system are running Dungeons and those that are ok with a bit more challenge are playing in open world zones (where frankly a bit more challenge is a good thing).

Open World players discount the concerns the Dungeon players have and visa versa. I’m not sure there is a solution to both issues without separate downscale systems.

Sorry, but Guild content has always been geared toward double digit membership at the very least. Assuming they would change that approach with Guild Halls is not very realistic.

Along the thermal throttling line, check your system for unlocked cores (tho this is usually an issue only on laptops).

Per those above, I can recall less than half a dozen disconnects in the nearly 3 years of playing GW2.

I am often amused by player claims that they have played other online games with no issues so it CAN’T be their system or some other internet connection issue. This just proves the player has very little knowledge of how the internet actually works.

If you put your effort into trying to identify the actual reason you are getting disconnected rather than just raging at Anet (mistakenly, I believe), you might be able to solve the problem. Note that there are many here that would be willing to help you if you were serious about solving the problem.

You are asking the manufacturer of a product to refund your money when they altered the product to give you MORE than the original price included.

If you are asking to exchange the Ultimate for Standard with a credit for the difference, that’s not unreasonable, but asking for a price break for the SAME item that now contains more content is not (at least in my opinion).

They may be willing to refund your most recent character slot purchase, however.

You are using your existing weapon to obtain another one that CAN have different stats. Note that all upgrades on your existing weapon will be destroyed in the process.

Trying to go “toe to toe” with enemies in GW2 is likely the root of this problem…

From what I’ve seen, Burning is OP and needs a mild nerfing. Some specific classes / skills & traits are also OP and need some adjustment. The assumption that Anet is going to completely undo the recent condi changes is absurd. Anyone that thought this type of change would happen without some disruption in the “meta” and some needed tweaks and adjustments has no idea how difficult this kind of balance change really is.

If a piece of software (ANY software) can overheat your system, you have a SYSTEM level cooling issue (either an original cooling design, some obstruction / cooling system failure or overclocking issue). PERIOD.

Software is NEVER responsible for proper cooling for your system or it’s related components. Yes, Software A may tax specific hardware more than Software B, but any system should be designed to be able to run at 100% computing capacity (CPU, GPU, Memory, P/S, et. all) without a thermal shutdown situation (this excludes extremes in ambient temperature outside the system itself).

The focus needs to be on finding a solution to your system’s cooling issues, not a vain attempt to try and blame GW2 (or ANY piece of software) for overheating your system.

Not sure you should worry about a “build” at that low a level (not sure what you set up at LVL 15 would even qualify as a “build”).

Short of obtaining stats on LVL 80 level gear, NOTHING is set in stone in terms of character development, so there is nothing to be scared of…..just play the game.

I’ve seen lots of posters here trying to influence the markets and Wanze certainly isn’t one of them, but believe what you want. Everything he has stated makes sense to me, but I’m not TP guru, so what do I know.

Make no mistake. Unless some huge reveal proves to me the expansion is actually worth a full $50, I WILL get a discount (when they eventually put it on sale at some point in the future).

You don’t have to do anything outside of WvW if you choose not to, but you will (possibly) not be able to earn a Guild Hall. Not sure your approach is the best way to get what we know about the current means to earn a Guild Hall altered, however.

Actually, the mechanic that is “silly” here is allowing you to put a soulbound item IN the bank to begin with (I know that is more restictive, but it would eliminate this type of situation). Sans temporary character storage management, there is absolutely NO reason to allow a Soubound item into account storage. Period.

Pretty sure the perma-tool can be handled by CS (they are very flexible when gem purchased items are an issue), but I’m not sure what they can (or will) do about Birthday Presents from a deleted character.

1. I will NOT compare this expansion with other games I do not play. They are not equivalent comparisons and they simply do not mean anything to me.
2. Again, don’t care what other companies do in terms of expansion reveals or marketing, my decision to NOT pre-purchase HoT is based only on what I have seen and know about for GW2.

My thoughts exactly. I’ve been playing this game for 3 years and I can take a break for several months. My guess is Anet may think it’s a big deal if a significant number of players feel the same….

There are not 2 products and they are not at different prices for different customers. OP is mistaken about both points.

I’m not saying it doesn’t suck that a new player essentially gets the original GW2 for free, but that’s how this thing is being marketed.

Changing an FAQ about a product before its released is NOT false advertising…..again, not defending what I consider a disappointing action by Anet, but nothing illegal is going on here.

Gotta say this is a HUGE disappointment from a company I have supported and defended for the last 10 years. Now IF I get access to a 2nd account (with full HoT) and the HoT on my original account, the $50 is reasonable (tho I dislike being forced into buying a 2nd account), but I do not think this is the deal being offered. Not sure why a separate package including the core game and a discount priced one for ($30) Veterans is not possible. It’s not the $20 as much as the feeling I’m being gouged by a company I have supported for over a decade.

Frankly, $50 is just too high for what I have seen being made available at this point (I’d pay the $50 for the $80 package possibly). Just making sure Anet is aware that this decade long supporter is going to turn his back on this offer and wait for HoT to be discounted (and if they don’t offer a different package, that will happen rather soon after release).

It still shouldnt matter for the casual player. There are no gear requirements to complete content (apart from agony resist in fractals) and there are no DPS checks that require any significant investment.

The stat difference is larger. But its still pretty small.

OP should understand that previously (pre Wardrobe), you only got ONE application of a Gem Store skin….period. The system has been improved vastly and many old time players are not going to complain about the current system (especially since you can earn free trans charges in a variety of ways).
