hmm fine, got it.
Well, does some1 knows a good heavy set that is shiny enough to make my dye worth its price?
You can view this YOURSELF via the Wardrobe at a bank NPC.
After selecting an armor combo, switch to the Dye tab and apply ANY dye it the game.
I’m not being mean but even your monitor settings can effect this and there is NOTHING in this game more subjective than how specific dyes look on specific armors (and in specific lighting). This is WHY they included the feature for you to actually LOOK at the results…..asking about this in the forums is like asking someone what candy bar they like.

Got 2 Shadow Abyss out of a single shadow dye kit (Jackpot!).. After actually comparing it to my old ‘black’ standby (Midnight Blue), I wish I’d sold them both…..
wait why? the black is a lot blacker
But it’s not 200g worth blacker…..
They are doing the EXACT opposite of making DUNGEONS part of the personal story…..
They are changing the ONE Dungeon instance that WAS part of the personal story just a story mission like all the others.
Just to be clear, I do not like the idea of being forced to do Dungeons (even the story missions) to complete a personal story step. I have no problem with some other type of incentive to get more players into Dungeons, but not tie it to the PS.
I can count the number of client crashes I have had on one hand (playerd since Beta, several thousand hours played). I doubt any of them were due to an Anet issue (short of the DDOS attacks that happen occasionally…that aren’t really Anet’s fault).
Is it possibly you are mistaking a feature of the loading process as a bug?
The game IS designed to load you into the zone BEFORE all data is fully loaded….so you can play sooner. The obvious result of this is going to be some initial LAG right after you gain control and get visuals displayed. The most glaring of these is character models being the generic ones for less than a minute when you load into a high pop zone.
I guess what I’m saying is it works this way for everyone (as far as I know), and it’s not a BUG or issue for anyone else (I’m not saying it’s not slightly annoying, but it’s not something they are going to fix, either). While the wait times to load into a high pop zone are long enough now, removing that feature would make all loading screens longer.

Exotic Backpieces, rings and accessories are available from Temple NPCs in Orr. Keep in mind those are karma items and are NOT salvageable (no cheap way to get back upgrades you add to them).
Got 2 Shadow Abyss out of a single shadow dye kit (Jackpot!).. After actually comparing it to my old ‘black’ standby (Midnight Blue), I wish I’d sold them both…..
It greatly depends on the material it’s applied to…and the ambient lighting in the area you are in.
Lots of materials (armors) have a very dark base and there is no way to make them “brilliant white”. Others have a very light base and normal dyes can make them look “shiny”. This is the main reason they added the ability to apply a dye (in the wardrobe) to any outfit combination BEFORE you unlock the dye.
I’d never buy a dye that expensive, but I’m happy with Icing (20s) as I’m not a big fan of lots of white on my armor.

My philosophy on this:
HARD rules about this are just silly….weigh the options and act accordingly. While you are being Rezed, there is plenty of time to type a thank you…do it.

….. I just want some thing nice
…..don’t we all?
RNG is a lot like life….neither is fair….
Its how they keep you busy.
…and seems to be working.
Waiting for the “unlucky Account” conspiracy theorists to post (always good for a laugh).
Seriously, OP, I get you are venting but isn’t it possible that doing 900+ LVL 50 Fractals may point to some other issue here than RNG?
…..
just…keep trying mate, RNG means eventually you are gonna get your thing,
Errr…no it does not. This kind of advice is EXACTLY why players moan and groan about RNG….While statistically, every attempt you make theoretically makes it more likely you will get the outcome you want, NOTHING can guarantee it. Technically you can roll a 100 sided die infinite numbers of times and never get a 100….. It’s one thing to be optimistic and another to have unrealistic information about how RNG really works.
Now if you were just trying to talk the OP off the ledge, forget I said anything….
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
The LVL 78 (with the T5 RARE jewel) actually has better stats than a LVL 80 Exotic backpack with a T6 EXOTIC jewel (sans any infusions).
I can’t make this stuff up…..
All the positive poll results in the world aren’t going to convince Anet to harm the sales of a profitable (yet 100% optional) item. Just not gonna happen.
No, I have two computers, so team up and take an alt in with the main.
And no tip expected! :O
That seems like a lot of trouble for 9 Platinum Ore / day, but whatever floats your boat.
Yes I read your post…..my comment was not exclusively directed at your example but the general tone of MANY of the posts on these forums now.
Sorry if you felt I was singling you out, but I was just venting at all the “make GW2 more like WoW!!!”, threads around here.
I’m in no way saying Group Content couldn’t be improved, but requesting another (different) kind of phase based UBER champ battle that requires Trinity based roles to complete is not something I want to see in GW2.

Keep in mind the rating on this game is basically a PG movie…..so not all that dark.
This is the ONE thing I truly dislike about an influx of WoW players….the constant push to change GW2 to be more like WoW. I LOVE the idea that more players are in GW2 but if you want to play WoW, go do so…..
They specifically stated Map bonuses will NOT be in starter zones, but the rest of the comments did imply all other zones were possible (but did not go so far as to STATE that all zones but starter zones would have Map Bonuses).
35 (or 55) Laurels can now be earned via one 28 day cycle of Dailies….
I think my suggestion of a TraceRT would prove that the issue in Europe is due to some BAD routing before the EU servers in Germany, but keep pointing fingers at Anet and nothing will continue to happen to fix it…..
Either farm the gold and buy direct or just wait until one drops for you (we all have dreams….). That’s always been my philosophy on Precursors. To be honest, I don’t see a Legendary I want bad enough to do that much farming, so here I am with Exotic Armor an a few Ascended weapons…..
Now after yesterday’s Blog (on Precursor crafting via Masteries in HoT), I will most likely alter my view of them as an unattainable item I would be better off to forget exists….
Possibly a “Always show Party” with a drop down for quality selection…..not a bad idea (don’t know if technically possible, however).
My REAL guess is that separating WHAT conditions should (make sense to) effect specific objects (and that would be different on each type of object) is just not currently possible. So they are all ignored.
Why it isn’t possible is one question and IF it could be made possible (technically or resource available wise) is another. Nobody without a RED display name could say for sure.
I disagree that “if a door can bleed”, isn’t relevant….I’d be willing to bet if Conditions on Objects were ever in place during testing, a bleeding door or Burning Rock is EXACTLY why all conditions are currently ignored. Those things look 10x more stupid than NO Condition ever effecting an object
Now I’m in no way implying that I don’t thing relevant conditions should effect objects it makes sense they should effect, but I do NOT think doors should be able to bleed, be poisoned or confused just because players that want to use Condition builds want “equal” damage footing in the game. Sorry, THAT suggestion is just absurd and selfish..
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Timberline Falls and Fireheart Rise both say SELL it and buy a Watchwork pick….
The one real advantage GW2 has over a subscription based game is you can take a “break” and come back whenever you feel like it. I’ve taken several month or 2 long breaks since release….no biggie.
My (yes, way too complex) explanation, wasn’t really directed at just the OP, but the large influx of new players that are coming from a certain monthly subscription based game. I like the idea they want to play GW2, but I’m getting annoyed that every suggestion and question tends to insinuate that GW2 should be changed to make it LIKE that other game.
GW2 is a successful (if not as popular) alternative to that game for a reason (because it IS different).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Found out yesterday you CANNOT toss Badge purchased Exotics into the MF (at least weapons)….. It makes sense (tons of badges would equal FREE precursor attempts), but I was just unaware of it.
Players coming from games that have monthly subscriptions need to think about a few financial truths about THIS game:
The game is based on these facts and while you don’t have to like the economic model your choices are to accept it or play something else.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Yeah, outfits are terrible idea and I hope they will be scrapped. They lack of customization. It is fair to support company for good ideas. outfits aren’t anywhere near a good idea
The idea that transmutation charges or outfits will EVER be scrapped is absurd. There existence in the game provides options and harms nobody (nor keeps anyone from playing the game).
May I suggest you put your efforts into changing something that actually harms the game or does NOT provide options to all players?
(Now advocating LESS Outfits and more armors (not an equal resource effort I may add) is fine, but suggesting that Outfits be eliminated from the game is just silly….ask for something that has a possibility of happening).

If the hacker got into her email account, they could impersonate her to ANET Support and this would allow them to turn off (or on) mobile authentication and certainly get around any email authentication.
Hackers are VERY good at having access to an email account and hiding any evidence of it from the real owner. I’d guess that 80-90% of Anet account hacks happen via hacked email accounts.
When the bad ping happens:
Just a suggestion.
NOTE routing issues can cause traffic issues to some locations on the internet and not others….other games may NOT be effected by whatever routing or throttling issues/errors that may exist on your connection.
It also could be an ANET issue and the TRACERT would show that….send the info to ANET via a ticket.

If you’d research a bit about this, you’d know that even Colin has agreed that this should be fixed and has promised a fix for this, he just didn’t give us ETA. And I don’t care if you take it or me seriously, you don’t take this whole thread seriously. I just don’t understand why you keep posting here. We get it, you don’t think that this is an issue. You can focus on another threads now.
I seriously doubt Colin used the term “fixed” (quote and prove me wrong). Again, consistent exaggeration of facts and what this issue is really about does nothing but make the issue something to be joked about. I’ll leave you to your pitchforks and torches over this game breaking bug…..
I’m crossing my fingers for linen as a reward in a mid level area
I got the feeling the rewards were geared more toward FINE and RARE materials, not RAW, but I could be reading more into it. A choice would be even better.
I DO think it’s funny that the OP can sum up his feelings and complaints for a piece of software that hasn’t even seen 10 hours of public exposure yet.
….not funny “ha ha” either….
How about you hold these “not enough” posts until we find out a bit more about what we might get (not to mention how much it may cost)? Just a thought.
……
The notion that buying ascended jewelry is a no brainer assumes that players will naturally line up to run the Fractal treadmill to earn what exactly? The continuation of gear, stat and profession snobbery that permeates dungeons? Gee, that sounds like so much fun. Got to get in on some of that action.
Beyond your misgivings about that content, the Ascended pieces DO present some not-so-insignificant statistical benefit over Exotics. I’ve never filled an infusion slot, but they ARE there if I want to use them in the future.
Now if you are talking about running Fractals for the rings, I fully agree with you. I just buy them from WvW NPC after earning some badges.
I found a list of foods sorted by level and just went down the list discovering the ones I had ingredients for (or could easily obtain from NPC). This was actually much more enjoyable than the structured tiers of the other crafts, IMO.
If you still have all that karma, buy a bunch of Orrian Jewelry Boxes….
….
i know its shocking but it is a great gold source if you buy the gems with MONEY a lot of money tho…
Are you sure you compared converting that MONEY to gems and then to GOLD?
Now if you are looking to unlock some of the dyes, it can pay for itself with a few lucky hits (I got 3 Shadow Abyss yesterday…), but the gems to gold exchange rate is about 1g = $0.15 USD (and the above is not removing the 15% TP fee loss)

….
It’s not about LEARNING the tells, because they all pretty much open with it.
…..
I think I’d classify that knowledge as a “tell”, but you call it what you want. I find avoiding the knockbacks and interrupts in general a challenge and if you fail to do so, shouldn’t the results have consequences (that just might annoy you)? Orr in general has always been more “challenging” and “annoying” due to it’s density of potentially hard hitting and CC capable enemies. Shouldn’t the highest level zones (that offer the greatest rewards) also be the most challenging and punishing?
I guess what I’m saying is I think the OPs title is exaggerated hype…EVERYTHING doesn’t have a CC component, so you DO need to LEARN what does and does not present the specific threat of a knockback and then possibly avoid said attacks…it’s part of an intelligent combat strategy, IMO.
……
That’s not really why it’s done that way. Knocking an AI enemy off a cliff into another area plays hell with leashing (which I could have sworn early one GW2 wasn’t going to use :\) and could make it impossible for the creature to reset.
That can causes a zone wide issue that could effect Event chains and other triggers, but you also have the specific player issue of not being able to break combat….that’s annoying enough now and allowing you to toss a mob to the bottom of a drop-off would make it much worse.
I think there SHOULD be some added penalty applied to an AI foe when a ledge stops a foe from falling (like a stun or extended knockdown time). It would be nice to be able to have some sort of advantage around ledges since the AI certainly gets one.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I would buy more armor skins if they actually started making new ones again and stopped making everything an outfit that can’t be mixed and matched.
I second that motion….#neverboughtanoutfitandneverwll
Looks great, sounds like a low quality midi file. Worse is the total lack of Chords, WHY in the name of Ogden’s petrified britches can this thing only play one note at a time?
Are you actually familiar with how 90% of electric bass is played? Chords are not the standard way to play any type of bass line (it could be argued that base “chords” are a gimmick of sorts…more to prove you can do it or to be used in a specific solo rift).
Back on topic, the sound is disappointing (sound like an old stand up piano to me) but the fact that I can’t make horridly bad players STOP, I just turn them off in the client. Haven’t heard an in-game instrument since they put in that feature.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Results I see from the 2nd poll make the first one irrelevant…..Anet obviously makes decent bank on selling charges, so I doubt they CARE about increased skin sales (since they make decent revenue NOW on them).
new patch, anyone tried fullscreen yet??
Still doesn’t work fullscreen.
Why oh why can’t we at least get a dev response here?
Because this is technically a reported and known “BUG” and there is a forum for that?
I’m not trying to be mean, just point out that this may not be the correct forum to get a response on such an issue.
To those of you who gave me tips, thanks, to the rest of you, if I wanted patronizing forums thumbs uppers I would have stayed with WoW.
Hey….I guessed right.
You didn’t really ask for help in your OP….you just whined about how you couldn’t play this game like WoW and how idiotic this game was because of that. You also complained about completely misunderstanding the term “skill based combat”, but I guess that’s understandable (but it IS kind of funny….seeing how WoW combat IS all about activating your dozens of skills while basically you stand still).
I get that you were venting, but don’t expect players to welcome you with open arms while you are bad-mouthing their game. All that aside, if you are willing to learn to play combat differently than in WoW, everyone here wants to help you. If you just want to complain about how GW2 combat is lame compared to WoW and it should be changed to be like WoW, then yor not going to get a lot of sympathetic ears. Your choice.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Can you be more specific as to where you are having all this constant knockdown? Knockdowns are usually limited to higher leader types (Veterans, etc.) of the various races but some have more than a few types that can cause them (Dredge, Centaurs, etc.)
Part of the game is to LEARN the tells when an enemy is about to use a knockdown and actively avoid it (or interrupt it with your own CC)….there are very few CC attacks in this game that don’t telegraph that they are about to be unleashed.
The combat requires SKILL (such as dodging and damage avoidance via weapon and utility skills), not that the combat is based on your SKILL bar and you can stand still and not die.
I think I can guess the MMO you played recently….

Wonder how many Twitch users have the same PW for their GW2 log in…..?
I’m guessing some hackers are finding out right about now.
Someone should notify GW2 Support (and lots of other games’ support) that tons of compromised accounts are on the way.
Sounds like Twitch is doing the right thing (emails and forcing PW change) but the question remains how long have the hackers had the data?
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Say NO to fishing…..
Oh….never mind….
(still thankful for the ability to turn off instrument playing….)
All I hope is that they learned their lesson about OP faction type skills from GW1 EotN and do not implement those kinds of skills in GW2. The fact that Racial skills are garbage implies they remembered it when they started GW2 design….I hope they remember it with HoT and the Mastery system.

i would say let the player decide, it’s not up to the dev to decide what we like and what we can see as acceptable.
How would you envision this as possible even if it wasn’t the most absurd thing I’ve ever read on these forums?
