Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
Just did this last week on a new toon…..please detail the issue (and if it IS a bug, reporting it here is unlikely to get any action….report in game and in the Bug forum).
Note that the particular challenge does NOT give you any feedback on progress…..you just have to hit targets until it triggers (I’m guessing 5 to 6 direct hits?).
Why in the world would you read the process has anything to do with how many gems are purchased???? Just… wow.
The idea that gem purchase has anything to do with the selection process is just conspiracy theory to the Nth degree.
I’ve purchase WAY more gems than I care to admit and I didn’t get an invite (so your theory is bunk….tho some part of me wishes it wasn’t).
I definitely hate missions that require you to alter your skill bar to complete them. Even tho I get the desire for Devs to be clever and get players out of their comfort zone, I find most of them simply a gimmick to break the combat “same old” and also to avoid forcing players to bring specific skills to do a mission (tho, forcing them to USE the mandated skills isn’t really any better, IMO).
I’m just trying to imagine attempting to play this game on a tablet….good luck with that (guess you could do TP stuff ok).
Lots of players don’t like them. What’s the point of this thread again?
If we are here to just post complaints, them my #1 is Rox’s GIANT FREAKIN’
eyes….what’s up with those peepers?

MMOs need long term goals for players or they have no financial reason to exist. This is especially true for a game that has no monthly fee and only earns money (after original purchase) by gem store sales. The odds of Anet ever making money if players are not in the game are VERY low…..so they have long term goals that keep players logged in.
Many player find this to be some abhorrent evil plan by the Developers, but the bottom line is that if they DON’T make money, none of us will have a game to play.
The main difference between GW2 and other MMOs (IMO) is that all of the long term goals (Ascended gear, Legendary weapons, collections, etc.) are ALL optional and generate very minor statistical advantages (that have NO effect on actual PvP modes).
I am guessing that if Devs had one thing to do over, they would make Legendary weapons un-sellable (maybe even Precursors). On the other hand if a player buys gems with RL $ and converts to gold and buys a Precursor / Legendary, then Anet makes money, (so long as not every one is purchased with converted gold)…..so I could be wrong.
Far too many players don’t see the Forest for the trees….despite what you want to believe, Anet is in business to make money and many players don’t want to (or choose not to) think about the very few ways they have to generate revenue. GW2 is a very different beast (in MANY ways) than the traditional subscription based MMO.

If she ever logged in here, she may be able to get the PW from the browser she used….
This is interesting only from the point that I would have thought they would completely disable the HoM orb from working. Can Rangers capture the Pets available in HoM? (I’m guessing that is likely disabled as well).
If the item is desirable enough to sell in the gem store, why on EARTH would Anet make it obtainable for Karma? The request might as well be for them to flush some potential revenue down the Mystic Toilet.
Because happy loyal players are worth more in the long run than today’s cash grab.
Ah, so you classify one of the ONLY ways Anet can actually generate revenue to keep the servers running as “today’s cash grab”? Good to know.
I’ve only tried a few but find JPs MUCH easier in First Person.
I actually did Troll End multiple times with my Norn and Charr without falling. I have NEVER completed that JP with a Norn….ever.
Nope. I’d rather hear REAL info from REAL people than planned Marketing BS.
I rather see uncomfortable honesty from actual people than polished hype from a paid spokesperson.
Is my statement stupid because YOU BELIEVE 80% of the players would flock to a new Dungeon or because the numbers might just prove how small the “Dungeon Community” actually is and your delusion may be shattered?
I clearly stated that I could be wrong (but I think Anet’s record on Dungeon development means I’m not wrong). Neither of us will know for sure without some statistics (that I doubt Anet would be willing to make public).
Use of the term, “fix” implies it’s broken…
It is an issue for engineer community that cosmetically handicaps the players that play engi. Hobosacks cover the backpacks and legendary auras. This may be taken as a cosmetic disadvantage for engis. And issues can be FIXED. So the term “fix” is still valid for this situation
Ok….if you are going to start flinging around terms like “cosmetically handicapped…” you have no hope of anyone ever taking you seriously….some Dev just fell out of his chair laughing…..
I get wanting the ugly things changed, but making up PC terms and acting like it’s akin to beating kittens with a golf club is a bit much….
….
Uhm..i think i might copyright that

Warriors being able to easily nearly perma increase their damage output by 25% was a bit OP….and I play Warrior as well. I’d be willing to discuss giving Warriors a few more seconds before the Adrenaline starts to drain, but overall the change was a good idea.
….Engineers use turrets?
(goes to look at my Engie again….)
Noob question: Why do people like / want SAB so much??
Because it was incredibly fun and challenging and had a great reward system, both internally and in skins. There hasn’t been a single content release to match it since launch, with the possible exception of fractals.
Your entire post is 100% subjective and 100% your opinion. I guess that is a valid answer, but I’m just making sure the person asking the question KNOWS not every player thinks SAB is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I personally think the SAB skins are an eyesore and a blight to my eyes in the normal game…..
It’s always entertaining to see Linux or Mac Luddites attack Windows and M$….
Sour grapes and ironic tales of IP theft abound. It’s pretty well known fact that they ALL stole it from Xerox (and Jobs led the way).
…..
You could be anywhere on the map and you’ll get the same reward as everyone else when the event ends.
I’m pretty sure this is universal across the entire game. If you contribute to an Event enough to “trigger”, you will get the reward as long as you don’t leave the map. Now the actual EVENT reward (XP, Karma, gold) will be dependent upon your level of participation (BRONZE / SILVER / GOLD).
Gw2nodes.com is always correct provided you map each map to their proper IP.
Problem is that the maps will change every once in awhile so you have to remap the nodes for the new ip every time. Yet the old map ip, if it ever returns, will have the nodes in the exact same spots you mapped them in before every single time. I tested it with the three Orr maps already.
Gw2nodes is only wrong if people assume they are in the same IP every time on every map they visit.
What I really want done by everyone is to have every map mapped out no matter what for every IP.
Can’t say I agree. Since it’s all user input, I’ve found that very few players are keeping it updated now (since the IPs change and are respawned….much more than “once in a while”, IMO).
I’m not saying it’s never right, or always has bad info, but I’ve found so many mistakes (and I fix them when I find them) that it’s almost not worth trying to use. NOW, if I could PICK which server I entered, it would be a much more valuable resource, but as it stands, it’s very “iffy”.
Caledon Forest: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Elain
49 karma ea (LVL 13 gloves)
Might want to try 4 first just to be sure they are Forgeable (they should be, but it would suck to buy 400 and find out they weren’t).
Note that once you craft out of Jute, you will have no reason to ever want this raw material again (short of promoting to Wool or crafting items for another character).
Now that I say that, I recall that promoting Bolts of Jute to Wool has been very profitable in the past (skill points to gold conversion wise). No idea if it still is.
That old portal into Gandaran likely caused more than a few deaths as I’m not sure it was possible to use it and not aggro those Elementals…..
Why, he could just done the last Lv20 mission, followed by the first Lv30 one. Totally possible to do the 20er with a Lv19 char.
Explain how it’s totally possible (other than doing it with another player that’s +20) as I think you are totally mistaken.
Have you leveled a character since NPE release?
In any event, the only PS mission that takes you to Ebonhawke (that I’m aware of) is the LVL 40 Vigil mission.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
A major step forward would be the ability to CRAFT breathers OR make all Breathers transfer you normal helm stats underwater.
I enjoy UW combat on certain classes (Theif), but HATE it on others (MESMER). The variety (or lack) of potential skills is the issue.
There are several posts around the forum from a player that has the Max slots (either 64 or 63….can’t recall) asking for the limit to be raised. His argument is that there are 80 (soon to be 90?) possible combos (race / sex / profession) available but only 64/63 slots.
All I can say is my Alt-a-holism is much less pronounced…..
…
I’m guessing that only a small percentage of the playerbase regularly does dungeons. I sort of suspect that the living world wouldn’t be the living world if everyone were ignoring it and doing dungeons.
This is the part of this argument Dungeon runners do not want to admit. I’m not saying a mode of the game you love should be ignored, but resources should be put where a majority of players are playing.
Before asking Anet to commit resources to new Dungeons, how about we ALL ask them for some statistic on what percentage of the player base do Dungeons regularly (or EVER)? Prove to everyone that the resources would be well spent and I have no issue with the Devs spending them.
I think the fact that only a very few additions to Dungeons have happened since release gives a clear indication that the Dungeon regulars are a small percentage of the overall player base (say less than 10%….certainly less than 15%, but hey, I could be wrong).
I’m guessing Devs are reluctant to release actual numbers as there is enough division between the groups now and it would just fuel these forum spats more.
wtb 64bit game.
imagine the amount of bugs and crashes for the first 7 years after release of 64bit client
That’s really not the issue (obviously there would be issues, despite your exaggeration). The issue is doubling your testing, development and support costs because you would HAVE to keep both clients. Also, to REALLY get the most out of a 64-bit client they would likely have to develop a 64 bit DB in the DAT file (and then support 2 DAT files). If they don’t revamp the DAT file, I’m not sure how much improvement a 64-bit client would make.
I fully support exclusive Dueling areas in PvE zones.
As an option, allow for PUBLIC duels were spectators can watch and even potentially place bets on the duels (ok, that might not work out well…just an idea).
If the item is desirable enough to sell in the gem store, why on EARTH would Anet make it obtainable for Karma? The request might as well be for them to flush some potential revenue down the Mystic Toilet.
Limited time Buff items are a possibility, but much wanted skins will NEVER show up like this. I guess I could see new SETS of weapons and armor being available from Karma vendors in the new HoT maps, but not specialty vanity items.
There is no requirement to grind gold either. You get plenty of gold to outfit a character in full Exotics with the gold you obtain from just playing the game.
An internal desire for a player to “keep up with the Jones” is NOT a requirement to play the game itself.
The fact that you CAN obtain most anything by potentially “grinding gold” is actually a viable option available to all players rather than spending RL money on gems. How is removing that option in any way a good thing?
I am not apposed to more reward based options as long as they are “optional”. I say an emphatic NO to any idea of equipment / item gating or repetative equipment tiers (to progress in the game, not change your cosmetic appearance).

Note that there has been some issues with GW1 achievements being mistakenly unlocked on GW2 accounts since the last patch. They said they have temporarily locked down access to the rewards in GW2 so maybe they have (temporarily) halted account linking as well? Note this was NOT announced and I’m just speculating.
Both are likely hitting an issue with running in FULLSCREEN mode (it appears to be not working for some players). Check one of the FULLSCREEN issue threads here and in Bug forum and there is a temp workaround until they can fix the real issue.

Note that the actual account owner must submit and handle the ticket (thru support ticket). Also, if a hacker managed to change his email, then the owners email account is likely compromised (as the hacker MUST have access to the old account to “fool” support into changing an email address).
Exactly WHO is telling a LVL 19 to go to Fields of Ruin (note that Ebonhawke is IN the SW corner of the Fields of Ruin zone)?
Did you possibly run Story Missions with another (higher level) player? I can only think some sort of glitch has happened to make your PS mission marker show up WAY ahead of your actual PS missions…./shrug.
Get a copper fed salvage o matic. It’s amazing.
Silver fed is no slouch since they actually fixed it (to only cost 50c / use). But Mystic Kits are easy to forge….. /shrug
I’m guessing the hearts are in Plains of Ashford (Charr starter area east of Black Citadel). As mentioned above, a few Hearts were changed / added in Caledon Forest as well.
The WP is likely a Guild Puzzle starting point as these were added after release.
Have you looked into buying the lowest level (tiny) containers (loot bags)? They have scraps and fine items that are also needed for T1 crafting (or can be sold).
I have no clue what they are going for on the BLTP, but nothing in them is required for Ascended gear, so there is no reason they would be in high demand for end game crafting. Note that those T1 materials can be cheaply promoted, so my theory on how inexpensive they may be is possibly flawed…..
Do you see the gold note in the bottom right?
This kind of thing is why they added that note.
Make sure you report it (Exclamation button at bottom).
If the GW2.DAT file is sitting on a bad sector of your HD (it’s 21GB, so not impossible), you can have this issue.
Note that repairing the client does NOT download the entire file….just what the server finds is corrupted. You can manually run a reapir (but you might want to do a disk scan first).
Look for the -repair option here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
Per above, this is NOT a generic issue as THOUSANDS would be reporting this if it was.
Seriously cools story (bro)
So you have twins?
GW is only a couple years old right? so twins twice..
hmm?
GW released in 2005…..that’s 10 years this April.
So the voices in your head are driving you insane?
(The plan is working perfectly….MUHAHAHAH!)
Seriously, they need to fix this crap….it’s getting old.
P.S. While your at it how about finding the Warrior Adrenaline building / loosing shouts and swap their pointers / file names? That bug has been in the game since BETA and is even more annoying after the Adrenaline drain nerf……PLEASE!?
Silverwastes offers some decent earning potential. There was a video in a thread recently that outlined how to do the events and join Bandit Chest farming groups.
Since the item DOES have a name and wiki entry, I have to think it exists but where it is first obtained (potential when it “unlocks”?) does not seem to be common knowledge (at least not on the wiki).
What about the collection guy in the middle of LA? I know he is suppose to have access to the Sinister items once you unlock them.
I don’t know why they don’t just create a hard mode version of each map that you can reach when level 80…
Upgrade all mobs by 1 tier. Normal become Vets, Vets become silvers, silvers become champs… grant a 50% bonus to Magic Find while in a hard mode area.
What this would create: Farming opportunity for solo players. Farming opportunity for groups (as scaling will still have an effect) a different dynamic for a while…
How hard would this be to implement, I am assuming not that difficult as the scaling already exists, set it to x5 and we have a hard mode No? 1 player would =5 5 would equal 25 etc etc.
This is a great idea but would make the NON-hard mode zones ghost zones….. I’m pretty sure they DO NOT want to fragment the community into HARDs and HARD-NOTs. (just speculating from all the Dev comments about not wanting to fragment the player base).
I have actually speculated since Megaserver release that doing HARD mode zones was one of the MAIN reasons Megaserver was introduced (to reduce the number of active zones, so they could basically double the number actually being used and STILL potentially have less active zones than the pre-Megaserver system).
As for the downscaling, I’m all for it….but not as a stealth change….they should have put it in the patch notes….not snuck it in on us.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Jesus christ it’s not that bad. You’re proclaiming the world itself ended by what you hear on the forums. It wasn’t that bad and nothing needs to be done minus a few bug fixes.
The game was still mostly perfectly playable.
I don’t agree with “mostly perfect” (but it is playable). Yes, there were quite a few issues (and still are) with this patch, but I seriously doubt a rollback is even a consideration at this point. I do agree that far too many players are using this less than perfect situation as a way to bang their anti-Anet drum even more loudly than they do every other day here…. Par for the course around here.
I’ve read the first 2 (GoA, DE) and have the more recent one on my Kindle (not gotten around to it yet).
I would recommend them, but don’t expect anything groundbreaking in terms of fantasy literature. They certainly give some good GW2 lore and background that any GW2 fan would appreciate.
…..
as ANet continues to make excuses as to why they can’t fix it.I believe they would have to agree it’s something that is not working as intended before saying they are trying to “fix” it.
I’d like to see any Anet employee quote you can find that implies the feature is broken and can’t be fixed….
No one is saying that the feature is not working as intended. It’s just that the vast majority of us do not like what was intended.
Use of the term, “fix” implies it’s broken. Again, If Anet Devs have stated this is indeed a “broken” thing in the game, demanding it be fixed “now” is valid. Otherwise, it’s just a bunch of players that don’t like the existing theme of a profession (and are asking for it to be changed). I’m all for some option to hide the hideous backpacks, but I also realize I’m asking to change the design of a profession, not fix a game bug.
I’m just asking that the issue be addressed to Devs for what it is, a request for a cosmetic change (or option to change) to a single professions looks. Over-hyping and exaggerating the issue does not make it any more likely to be addressed (it just makes the poster making those claims look kind of silly).
Don’t think that’s part of the plan. Every question I’ve seen asked about servers in other markets ther than NA, EU, CN have always been answered with. “Not in our current plans”.
They certainly have not mentioned this as part of the HoT rollout.
What’s the big deal if they “remove” (temporarily) a set of maps that have been in use for 2.5 years? These maps have a VERY specific reason for existing (playing WvW) and it’s not like they are removing PvE world zone.
They were VERY clear that the new maps will REPLACE the old ones for a time and then the old maps could be brought back for some type of rotation or special event.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
You dont get banned because Anet screwed up something.
While I agree you would NOT get perma-banned, saying a mistake could not happen (if they were banning exploiters) is naive…. I get the players anxiety, but it is a wasted emotion as he has no control over what has happened or what will happen about it.
As I said elsewhere, XP is a 13 year old OS which isn’t even supported by Microsoft anymore. I wouldn’t even expect ANet to keep supporting it. It’s long past time to upgrade your systems if you wanna run modern software.
Windows any version after 98SE is a flat POS.
…..
BS. Win XP is STILL a very stable and good OS. Win 2000 was the most stable business OS for many years. VISTA was a mess because M$ assumed vendors would write decent drivers (and 64 bit drivers) and when they didn’t M$ had to go back and do it themselves (the OS itself was ok, but the driver fiasco tainted the name badly).
Windows 7 is still the most stable and decent OS M$ ever developed.
Now Windows 8 I will agree with your assessment….the general changes for the desktop version were simply an uncalled for attempt to unify desktops and tablets (which VERY few users actually want).
I’m not going to argue that the changes to the UI over those years were always a good thing, but Windows 7 is MANY times easier to use than 98SE. Users not liking “change” is not a valid reason to call an OS a POS.
Back on topic, this issue does NOT appear to be OS dependent at all. If it is a setting (compatibility mode) that needs to be changed, Anet support should be aware of this and present it as a solution to customers. That being said, the reports seem to be coming from a lot more than just XP users.

Yes they did.
They will not change it by asking here.
Open a ticket with Support, but unless the name is a security risk (has RL info in it), they will likely NOT change it.
