You don’t see a discussion because it’s not needed. They DESIGNED the game to not have a “trinity”. If you want “trinity” play, there are plenty of games to oblige you.
The quote isn’t bull. It’s outdated. They had to do something to end the ability of a Zerg to perma-stun lock a World Boss…..THAT’s VERY boring! The change to Stability in the works should prove they WANT control to be a part of each players kitten nal.

……. After that threshold the system will do a roll (the RNG bit) to determine what you get, this roll may still result in no loot.
……
You are mistaken about that last statement (show a link to some proof if you can, please).
From the wiki page you linked (LOOT):
Participation
Each player who participates in killing a monster will have the opportunity to loot the body. Each monster has a damage table and a threshold value of damage done to it by the player before it will give full credit for the kill. This value is about 5% to 10% of the monster’s health. The loot dropped is unique to the player, and loot received by one player does not affect what another player receives. One monster may drop the same rare item for multiple players.
I see no mention of the possibility of NOT getting any loot if you reach the damage threshold. Again, please provide links to relevant data that states otherwise (in no way am I implying the wiki is always 100% correct). I have certainly never dealt what I felt was sufficient damage killing a foe and received no loot (if the foe provided GUARANTEED loot).
If what you meant by the “no loot” statement was that some foes do not always give loot, I apologize for just misunderstanding your post a bit.
Rest are normal to collect drops (and I usually keep them up top so I can look at drops quickly.
I only Craft 15 slot bags (MAYBE 18 for Safe boxes if my character needs to space for spare armor weapons). I’ll certainly use an 18 or 20 if they drop in my lap (but I’m not paying the HUGE differential for those extra 5 spaces)..

Until the majority of the playerbase quits buying them, they are not going away.
The outfits likely take a 10th of the resources to make (maybe less) and earn them as much (if not more) $ than armor. I HATE outfits, but I can’t blame Anet for promoting something with such a drastic profit differential. You have to realize they are not doing it out of spite against those of us that don’t want the dolly-dress-up costumes.
Hating on Anet for wanting to make more money is just silly.
……
that way you HAVE to have a cond build in your team to be effective, no cond means no high-end DPS.That just forces a different type of “trinity” on the group. I get you want your CD build to be desired, but that solution is no better than the old GW1 days when a Monk or Rit was required to do certain missions….as big a backward step as they could make.
it’s better then spitting on necro’s while the current trinity steamroll through dungeons, i want conditions to be needed and that’s exactly what this does.
tho, earlier it was said that it’s better to make conditions something to connect on traits for certain attack types, that also needs to happen to make this work.
So you are advocating these changes just so your Necro is a desired class in Dungeons? That explains a lot.
How about something that would make the game better for ALL classes and players?

They should just bite the bullet and make them skins to purchase with gold…. The idea that they are actually usable armor is laughable.
Now if they WANT to make it usable:
…..
At the heart of every mmorpg playerbase, standing out is important.
…..
The irony of this statement as it applies to this situation is just awesome! How is being like hundreds of other dress up lemmings standing out? Being able to pony up a certain amount of gems during a specific time to be part of the latest fashion fad DOES say something about you (but likely not what you really want it to say).

….
Magic Find affects Bandit Chests.
But very few (if any) other containers. You’d be surprised at the players that are ignorant of what MF actually does (or effects) in the game.
Your implication that a new player can get fully geared in Ascended in less than a month is a bit of a stretch. I guess if they played 8-10 hrs a day?
Still, it takes 30 days of daily time gated materials to craft Ascended armor (even if you had the gold and materials to do it).
The DAT file is nearing 20Gb so it could take quite a while at that speed…..
It does pick up where you left off (even if the bar seems to indicate otherwise).
Reinstall DX9 and if that not helps deinstall and reinstall your video drivers.
CL:EAN install for drivers.
Note that having DX11 installation does not provide DX9 software. You MUST install DX9 as well.
I’m all for this if they make an arena area in HoM or some specific zones, but I do not want cyber gits following me around a zone I’m trying to clear bugging me to duel (and being obnoxious when I turn them down or ignore them).
It appears the Devs know full well how toxic a segment of the population is in terms of this “feature” for general Open World and have ignored all these threads so far….I hope they continue.
The video implied to me you could revert your bar BACK to XP if you wanted to earn skill points again. I don’t think enabling Mastery gain is a one way option. It may also be that you only earn Mastery in certain zones.
-1 I want people to see my Mini Karka
Yes, because what you WANT is all that matters (to only you).
I’m in for it. Also, this option SHOULD allow for a higher pop count when the server turns them off (assuming they can subtract the players that are not displaying them from the limit).
Just reset the Personal story… its not that hard to do.
I’m sure there a plenty of other items neither you nor I have considered that make, “it’s not that hard to do.” untrue.
Holy mother of necromancy
I do wish the old posts showed a YEAR to punctuate this…..
…..full-DPS builds can be nerfed accordingly.
You say the damage is not to be focused on yet you want to nerf DPS builds?
I seriously can’t see how this would make the game better for anyone.
CD is less effective than direct damage and while that may upset some players, frankly, it hardly matters in the larger scheme of things. I guess I can see that 3 to 5 CD players have difficulty in Dungeons, but that is quite a nitch market to be pandering to.

I don’t mean to derail the thread or anything, but since I started my ranger a couple of weeks ago I haven’t noticed any issues at all in my pet’s AI. The pathing is a bit off, sure, but my pet does exactly what I tell it to do, when I tell it to do it. Are there any videos or red posts on this issue so I can check it out?
The complaints are valid (the bugs exist), but some players over exaggerate just how much of an issue they are. Do the issues need to be fixed? Sure, but “badly” is a misrepresentation of just how important the issue is.
Generally fixing Pet AI so they don’t stand in red circles (no matter if they are attacking or not) would fix 80% of Pet issues.
Isn’t it entirely possible there is a valid reason you FEEL stupid?
(I"m in no way implying the OP IS stupid, just that the act of spending gold to obtain this collection might not be the brightest move they ever made).
Blaming Anet for that feeling might fall into that category as well…..
What’s not clear is if the points are cumulative or additive. Ie do you get the second one after spending 2 points or after spending 3?
Gotta believe it’s the latter…..just like WvW Masteries.
They ARE useful in general PvE. They do NOT kill as quickly (nor should they) as a Zerker build. They are not effective in large group situations (World Boss or Champ Trains) but that’s a different request than what the OP stated.
The ineffectiveness of Condi damage is VASTLY over-hyped (in thread, after thread, after thread…..)
From what has been stated by Devs, if you can get an Exotic Weapon from the reward (or enemy drop), you have a chance at a Precursor. They are in the NAMED EXOTIC loot tables.

From some posts I have seen here you may be hitting 2 issues:
Note that I have not had any issues and am just recalling off the top of my head things I have seen on these forums and these issue may have already been addressed (but note that both of these are not within Anet control or ability to address).
Do a repair on the GW2.DAT file (may have corrupted texture files in it)..
Look for how to run the -repair option on this wiki page:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
Good luck!
You are likely being throttled in some manner by your ISP (typical during peak hours).
Your best bet is to do a TRACERT when it happens and when it does not and present your ISP with that data. Ask them WHY your internet acts differently at different times of day…..
Anet cannot fix this type of connection issue.
…
.But are the support staff as sincere or are they going to delay it more?
……
All I can add right now is that this has been posted for over a week and not a single other player has jumped in to say, “me too!”, on this specific error or problem. That certainly does not imply some sort of generic bug on the GW2 side (but I’m not saying it’s not impossible, just unlikely).
I know this doesn’t help much, but the fact that whatever occurred with AVG (uninstall, update, etc.) seemed to cause issues does point to a configuration change with that software (and it may NOT be an AVG setting).
One more thing I can think of: have you tried logging on as a different user (start a new user and give it the same rights your current one has) and then testing this? It could be that your current profile is either corrupt or has some registry setting janked up (and at least the test MAY point you in the direction of what needs to be looked at in more detail).

SW can definitely get you Obsidian Shards faster than pure karma farming.
I am in no way disagreeing that reaching 100% Crit is likely overkill, but answering the OPs question with the assumption that he’s asking about Dungeon running implies the rest of the game is not even worth discussing….sorry if I took your intention wrong.
I’ve bought several armor sets, but I will NEVER buy an outfit (nor did I ever buy one before Wardrobe). They seem to be the ultimate symbol of conformity and lemming mentality (but that’s just me).
I support resources being used to develop the things I will spend gems on an Outfits are not among them.
@maddoctor – Your entire argument is based on your CLAIM that Devs want JP rewards increased. Again, find the thread and post a link, because frankly, I feel you are “remembering” what you want with Bias toward this proposal and are unable to provide ANY proof this is something even on the Dev radar.
I’m not saying it shouldn’t be or that you don’t have a right to ask about them doing it, but making the assumption that it IS a “thing” wth the Devs may be slightly self-delusional on your part.
I still stand by my statement that increasing rewards will NOT benefit EVERYONE (only those that do the JPs) and the current situation HARMS no players. Could JP rewards and participation be improved? Certainly, but don’t promote your proposal with hyperbole and twisted logic.
mtpelion If you have time for that good for you. But I’m fine just recycling and NOT spending hours on the mystic toilet ; )
It takes like a 30 sec run to the MF, a few minutes to toss and a 30 sec run back to the bank (or merch). I do it a few times a week or when ever the MF daily pops. You do need some open storage to gather them up (so that can be an issue for some players), but time is not really a large factor.
Making some settings that allow you to define what is actually JUNK would be a nice feature, but ranting as to why it’s not in the game already is being overly critical.
NOTE: see how I avoided the obvious crude comments about, “…spending hours on the mystic toilet….”
Being expected to find a party for ONE mission out 40 or so is NOT really an unreasonable expectation as this IS an MMO game. I’d say expecting to NEVER have to party up with anyone might be a bit unreasonable.
This coming from a guy who has 12 characters and NONE of them have done Victory or Death and I rarely party up with anyone and avoid Dungeons like the plague.
If you don’t need to spend them right away, I would hold on to them for a bit longer. The expansion might suddenly require you to use laurels for new in-game stuff, then you’d be kicking yourself, since there’s very few ways to get laurels atm. ;-)
Actually, there is only ONE (main) way….log in every day. You can earn either 35 or 55 per 28 day cycle.
You are correct that the time gated nature of obtaining them would make the above scenario (needing more than you have) frustrating.
Trying to optimize your gear for every game mode is a LONG term goal (if you want to work toward it). Note that obtaining a decent set of Exotic gear (stat wise) from the TP should not cost a lot and there are lots of other options to “gear up” your new LVL 80.
One thing to keep in mind is that sets of armor / weapons you get from karma (Orr Temple sets) or WvW badges are NOT salvageable and thus the upgrades you put on them are NOT retrievable (sans a rather pricey gem item). Just keep that in mind BEFORE adding update items to gear (might want to double check if it can be salvaged if the ruin/sigil is pricey).
Note that before you go that far, you might want to investigate the details of the desired transfer. If we are talking about them transferring to a HIGH pop server, that can often be difficult and a FULL server transfer just may not be possible (in practical terms).
What I mean is that WANTING to transfer (and having the gems to do it) is not the same as actually being ABLE to do so.
Imo, the absolute most critical chance you want to hit is 80%. Any good party will give 100% fury uptime, making the last 20% critical chance worth of precision wasted stats.
I know you are attempting to be helpful, but this is one of the most narrow minded posts I have ever seen……Your assumption that this entire game is litany of Dungeon speed runs is tunnel vision to the extreme…..
It’s an Xtreme Gear 800w model XG-H800 power supply
edit: After doing a quick look up of the power supply, I’m highly suspicious it might be the issue. It has horrible reviews everywhere I look. This leaves me questioning why I don’t have TDR issues while playing other games though.
What version of Direct X do those other games utilize? Have you tried updating Driect X9 software?
I’ve never used ESC as a targeting tool (I have CLOSEST / NEXT / PREV TARGET assigned and use those).
I use ESC to CANCEL skills / actions and open the menu only. I’m not sure how some players operate without using it at all as there are definitely certain skills / actions that can’t be interrupted by the player any other way (that I’m aware of….I could be totally mistaken).
Yes, the menu can get opened accidentally and cause issues, but that’s 100% my fault (too aggressive with the ESC button). I pay for my own mistakes.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I only care about AP from the rewards I can gain…..I know for a fact your AP total is NOT an indication of actual skill or true knowledge of the game (tho there are plenty out there with perceived skill and incorrect knowledge galore).
The OPs request is petty and there is no other word for it.
Parking alts at chests harms the puzzle rewards so it harms everyone. Parking alts and portals is one of the reasons JP rewards are so low, they can’t increase the rewards if parking and portals are still used to skip them.
Rather than trying to “solve” this issue with a poorly thought out solution, why not just ask for an increase in rewards for actually doing the puzzle?
Now if Anet has stated somewhere that they WANT to discourage (or stop) JP chest parking, they could easily do it but nothing I have ever seen indicates this is something players or the Devs actually want.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I don’t like the outfits either and will NEVER buy one.
However, I would never presume to tell Anet and other players what they can and cannot choose to make or buy. The OPs dislike of outfits is NOT a reason for Anet to discontinue their release (tho I wish it was).
Can you log onto GW2 via another system (say a friend’s PC)? The first thing you appear to need to do is convince yourself that it’s something ON your system so you can be sure your efforts to solve this are not in vain. The fact that you are convinced this is NOT a problem with your system is going to thwart you finding the real solution and fixing it.
Also, have you tried clearing your default browser cache?
From my understanding, that system is designed to be used for medium duty 3D modeling and video editing, not a gaming rig (thus the advanced OpenGL support it offers). While it’s Direct X 10-12 performance may be serviceable, I doubt they put ANY effort into it’s performance with DX9 (what GW2 uses).
Definitely not a “gaming” rig laptop.
Who has ever considered parking alts at chests a problem? Exactly why should it be (i.e. who exactly is it harming?)?
The real issue with JPs now is WHY would most players do them? I once did a dozen within the first week of a month for the Monthly Cheivo, but that has been removed…..haven’t done a JP since. (beyond clearing zone for a VISTA or access to a rich node at a few). Beyond doing them once for the AP (they hold no rewards I deem worthy of the effort and I pretty sure I’m not alone in that feeling.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I’ve only been disconnected while playing (since launch) about half a dozen times. In no stretch of the imagination would I consider that, “plagued by disconnect problems”). Those continually plagued by such issues have local LAN or ISP (or larger internet routing) issues.that Anet cannot (and should not) be expected to fix.
Now if you are talking about a feature that works to allow a recently disconnected player to rejoin EXACTLY where they left (within a 5 minute or so window), that’s a reasonable request and I support it fully.
BTW, this “issue” has NOTHING to do with HoT and these “tag my pet peeve bug fix to the x-pac”, threads are getting tiresome…..
Never hated him…..just generally annoyed by him (and lots of other GW2 NPCs).
Seriously, the claims of not playing an entire class because of a cosmetic dislike is seems like a childish tantrum to me. I’d be happy with them allowing me to turn the stupid looking things off (like all backpacks), but I’m not going to discard a class I enjoy playing because of them.
I personally think 99% of all backpack items look hideously moronic, but I’m not going to quite playing GW2 because of them.
Kind of OT: All these posts making “suggestions” about thing that need to be “fixed” by HoT release have NOTHING to do with the actual HoT content itself. There is a bugs forum (or General GW2 forum) to make suggestions for things that players perceive need “fixing”.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Salvage kit quality gives you increased change to get rare of fine salvage material and a better chance to obtain any upgrade on the item. Blacklion Kits will always give you a 100% chance to obtain the upgrade(s) on an item.
It is highly unlikely Anet would ever be able to tell if you are logging into a “borrowed” account (sans some instance requiring you to prove original ownership….or admitting to it….like in a forum post….. :\ ).
That being said it is clearly a violation of the ToS agreement, so just keep that in mind no matter what you do.
