Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
We simply don’t want them to be necessary for map completion.
Like they have been since release?
Per the one’s listed above (about half a dozen) that have places where a significant risk of death from a fall at a difficult spot exist, I have no issue with requesting those might be modified to allow for easier map completion, but map completion SHOULD present some challenge to the average player. If you fall outside that classification, perhaps map completion is just not within your reach (not being mean, just honest).
If they added some relatively significant reward for clearing a Dungeon instance (a Title maybe?), I’d say you’d potentially have completely different game mode….Kind of like GW1 Hard Mode for Dungeons?
The blindfold will likely be a starter item (like the Thief Hoods and Necro masks/eyes). If you unlock them, you can likely use them (on Heavys). There are light blindfold head pieces now (maybe others I’m unware of).
I think much of this discussion should be less about what would be good/bad for players but what a volume of graphics and animation work it is for the team to do a single new armor set…..(not just a re-texture / skin of an old armor, tho that also takes more effort than most players would think).
Only considering how this effects players is dismissing the REAL reason new armors don’t drop from the sky every other week….
While this is not a bad idea, I will put in my advance request for gem refunds for all the one’s I’ve bought so far…..only fair if they change it, right?
(not gonna happen for the above reason).
I agree that they removed the only reason I did any of them once a month.
I have no need for the Ascended Materials any longer (that might change if I decide to go for Ascended armor in the future), so I see no reason to do them. You can get tons of salvage equipment without the JP camera frustration from other areas of the game (and the new rewards system).
I think the HoM skin makes a good Necro GS skin….
Great reused skins in gw1 that were unlockable for free
You did have to semi-participate in the festival events in Shing Jea for some of them as I recall….not actually FREE (but yes, they did not cost any in-game or RL currency).
Also, if you wanted them for multiple characters, you had to do some serious token collecting (tho, you could AFK some of the games to do this). The GW2 method allows you to use it on all characters once obtained (for trans charges, yes).
Both are good and capable classes and as a dedicated Alt-aholic, I say play them both. If you really must choose, from the description of what you like, go with Engineer.
In what way?
…..I prefer offense with support utilities, range over melee…..
From the above quote in your OP.
Engineer and Guardian can both be “offensive” and provide support, but the Guardian has rather limited ranged options that provide significant offensive capabilities. For this reason, a Guardian playing fully ranged is going to get a lot of “comments” you might not appreciate. You can certainly choose to ignore them and continue playing how you want (in open world PvE at least).
Since Anet has started closing zones regularlly, most player do not bother updating those sites (or the IP info will be for the previously closed zone and inaccurate for the newly started zone with that IP address).
Per my experience the answer is NO and the days of running 7 characters to T6 nodes in Frostgorge and Orr every day are over. That being said, if you do T5 runs thru Orr (Malachors and Cursed Shore) you will pick up some T6 along the way. You can then sell or promote the T5 as needed. Doing multiple character runs is possible only if you can zone in and out and get the same IPs (possible but frustrating and time consuming).
My Layline Rifle skin certainly changes the sound when fired AND when equipped (or swapped).
What does the Achievement have to do with a free trip back to the starting WP? Being better at Jumping means you will get that achievement for less copper….not sure it should be available any other way.
Doesn’t the milestone system eliminate the need to start all the way over again?
If you are just looking for a fee port after dying from falling, that’s not gonna happen…..
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
So…this club is dedicated to the removal of all JUMPING from GW2?….
….a game that was designed around the concept of jumping to traverse the world in general?
I don’t disagree that an option to LOCK the camera (or some other potential solution) from the ping-pong zoom in/out motion it can present in close quarters (that even makes me woozy at times), but to suggest that JUMPING should be removed from the game is simply narrow minded and some bizarre form of political correctness taken to extremes.
But I guess this should not surprise me on these forums…..
While I don’t disagree with your assessment of the above claims, I seriously doubt the drop rate is 50%…..(per your analogy). closer to roll a 20 sided die 50 times and never get a 20 (that IS quite possible).
The fact that the temples have to fall to get anything done is just all around bad design.
Whatever can be gainedfrom those temples should be handed out for defending the temple, not attacking them.
So a good design is something that is easy to farm, not a game that provides an overall story arch that makes sense? Good to know.
This place is just unbelievable at times.
Bag Storage and Bank Expansion are the ONLY things I would never want to play without.
Everything else is purely optional / convenience.
I’m confused as to why this would be better than the flag system currently in place? Not even discussing how it completely removes any motivation to actually IMPROVE you JP skills….
Personally I never understood why Anet made Damask take 300 silk scraps from the start when the other corresponding materials where at 100 mithril ore, 150 elder logs or 150 thick leather sections.
…..
My guess is that Silk was WAY WAY WAY undervalued and over supplied when Ascended Armor was designed (less so when it actually released and players had been hoarding and buying it up for weeks). The prices shot up and have been relatively stable (with small spikes and rebounds when items requiring Demask were released). I guess that is where they want the prices (despite the “fairness” of requiring many times more raw materials than the other 2 armor sets).
Cloth nodes are not needed as every enemy target in the game is a potential node for cloth & leather (as are the loot bags many of them drop). Now the fact that enemies all drop items leveled for current character level is an issue for the T2-T4 mats, but loot bags and the TP can solve that issue easily enough.
The T2-T5 issue could be addressed with Forge demotion recipes (but that would cause some significant price shock to those materials when introduced).

lol like world bosses were hard or something
There are certainly things you should and should not do for each BOSS and those often have NOTHING to do with player skill (just knowledge). I do believe that is the first issue the OP is discussing (learning “the fight”).
My theory on this has always been if you go down, don’t EXPECT someone to Rez you immediately (or at all), but be grateful is someone does. If you feel that you have racked up enough damage to get kill credit, just lay there and someone will likely rez you after the fight. If you seriously think you need to participate further, you should WP. It’s not rocket science.
I feel the idea that if you go down you MUST WP is just kind of silly (but certainly depends on where you went down and the stage of the particular boss fight).
What good does a “club” do? Everyone still has to do the Vista’s that require some jumping (one way or another). It’s enough to say you don’t like it and move on as there is absolutely NO CHANCE they are going to change the current requirements.
Besides map completion, I see no reason to do JPs any longer. They were a easy and quick way to pick up one of the Monthly Achievements, but those days are gone.
No, you cannot buy the deluxe edition to upgrade an existing account. Buying the deluxe edition will only give you a second account. The only way to upgrade is through the gem store at the cost of 2,000 gems and it doesn’t come with an extra character slot.
You can certainly (potentially) purchase a Deluxe Edition (or Heroic Edition) upgrade from the gem store when they offer them and upgrade your existing account (as long as it is not already one of those editions). Go to the Gem Store and the upgrades section will point you to what you can purchase to upgrade your account.
You CANNOT have different accounts merged or combined.
He said 50 FPS in Black Citadel….isn’t that a KNOWN “worst case” zone? Many players have suspected there is something not quite right about that zone (beyond the general tendency for GW2 to be very CPU intensive and not fully quad core capable in it’s coding).
What FPS does he get in a crowded LA? or maybe an relatively secluded area with few players around?
Your GPU is:
A) Overheating
B) Failing
I tend to agree. Driver issues do not just start happening (but GPU failures can).
Just keep in mind that FULL means how many total accounts are assigned to that server and has NOTHING to do with how many players are logged in at any one time. A player must actively transfer to another server to free up a slot on that server (and keep in mind thousands of players are trying to join those FULL servers…not just you).
You go kill stuff around, and unless you leave character at certain levels and keep making new characters, you are limited to T5-T6 drops that may or may not drop when you salvage something.
While partially true, there are loot bags that are dropped by those nodes…..those generate the level of materials of the enemy, not the opener.
As easily as any player can farm material nodes in Blazeridge, you can farm enemies that drop loot bags and get the level specific cloth and leather. Another option is to farm the materials you think are so easy to get, sell them and buy the appropriate level loot bags on the TP (or the materials you need directly).
I will agree that the more acceptable solution to this might be some sort of demotion recipes for the forge (tho those would possibly have some serious immediate effects on TP prices, but would likely normalize to something stable).

You wanting to outfit 20 characters with Ascended gear SHOULD take you 20 times longer than it takes someone to outfit one. Sorry if that makes you feel “punished” but it’s actually quite FAIR to everyone involved.
To be honest, the fact that Ascended gear is Account bound (and can be swapped between your characters) makes the OPs complaint null and void…..you are punishing yourself. This doesn’t even address the fact that Ascended gear (unless you are running high level fractals) is completely optional.
Also, buying extra character slots has NOTHING to do with the issue of how Alts are equipped and the OP mentioning it smacks of some delusion of entitlement that simply does not exist.
Now if you want to complain about time-gated crafting in general (that effects everyone equally), go right ahead. But don’t bring your Alt-aholic tendencies and how many gems you have spent into the conversation…they are irrelevant.
NOTE: I have over a dozen characters myself.

There are cloth & leather nodes….they are circled in red and chase you down to kill you….i suggest harvesting them first.

I think I’ve had one instance of getting the “Please move to another map” dialog multiple times close together in the months since it’s been in place.
I’m pretty well convinced that since I don’t ever think about the Megaserver system (much less post an Eternal Wall of Text about it), it’s working fairly well for me.
1. Obtain Precursor.
2. Start making Legendary.
Be very careful when doing this as just because you WANT to change servers does not mean there is ROOM for you to transfer…..a FULL server means that no more accounts can be associated with that server….NOT that it is currently full of players that are logged in. FULL is servers are nearly impossible to transfer to…..just saying.
Pretty sure if you admitted using this in chat and the capture was sent in (and Anet cared enough to investigate), the user would get banned. Problem is, I doubt they have a way to detect the tool running on your system (you’d have to admit it in chat).
At level 22 you need to search for EVERY bit of +POWER equipment you can get your hands on (MIGHTY & all different runes that have +10 power as the first stat). This will GREATLY increase your damage (in low level areas). PRECISION (increases your chance for a CRITICAL) if you can’t find POWER and VITALITY after that.
Also use BLOODLUST runes on your weapons to stack power per kill (up to 25).
I would suggest you continue to focus on POWER until you start seeing 3 stat increases on items (around LVL 40-50). The PvE part of this game is absolutely about killing he badies before they hurt you too much (at least at the low levels).

FULL means there are the maximum amount of accounts assigned to that server. An account must LEAVE the server for it to open up to allow new accounts to join it.
Current log in numbers has NO bearing on the FULL status.
Anet has only changed the server population caps a few times and then it was in relation to some WvW tournament seasons. At the same time, they changed the transfer pricing to make it more economical to move to the lower population servers (and more expensive to move to the higher ones).
There are several issues with trying to craft to your level on your first character.
While cooking can be done fairly easily (but you do have to travel to some Karma vendors in the explorable zones for some items), Tailoring is difficult because you can’t really “gather” the materials directly (cloth & leather). For Leathercraft and Tailoring (and to some extent Armorcrafting) you have to obtain items from defeated enemies (or their loot bags) and then salvage those items for the raw materials to craft).
Also, cooking is VASTLY different to raise than the other crafts as it does not progress in a repeatable manner at each Tier like the other crafts. Trying to raise cooking without a guide (or at least a list of recipes to discover) is going to be VERY confusing.
If you insist on crafting your own gear as you level (on your first character) your are almost forced to buy some gold (or obtain some additional funds somehow) in order to buy the ingredients to keep up your crafting level with your character level.
If you focus on salvaging and gathering from every node you travel near, you can easily craft for your second or third character, but the first one is tough….

Account bound just makes sense from a “path of least resistance” mind set.
Making the game harder for players with more Alts is not a good marketing decision, even if some limited number of players would like it better.
It was pretty obvious from some early pre-release interviews that they wanted to avoid the complexity caused by the GW1 Assassin combat mechanics (used chain 1-2-3 combos…mostly via daggers), so I doubt this will ever happen.
Everyone that has never actually PLAYED GW1 before needs to understand that Anet has been down the, “need to balance the game for 250 skills per class”, road and were very clear when GW2 combat was revealed that they were going for simplicity to allow for easier management of the combat system.
The skill balancing (nerf / buff cycles) in GW1 was often very ugly and went way off track when they introduced faction skills with Eye of the North….(my opinion). The Assassin class was often the focus of much criticism due to the attack chain system’s wide variation of damage, Hex and Condition application (along with shadow stepping) making it nearly impossible to balance properly in all aspects of the game.
I’m not saying it couldn’t be done “right”, just that I doubt they are going to be eager to open up that can of worms again.

Just told my brother (big Destiny player) about this and his comment was, " Destiny has a story?"…..
Maybe they will start to get one now….Good Luck to John Ryan.
Never gonna happen.
Far too much work for NO potential return.
Those that fail to see this and STILL ask for it are living in some fantasy world where they actually “beleive” the customer is always right, or Linux is the solution to everyone’s computing issues…..
Open GL always has been and always will be the 3D modeling worlds standard and Driect X will remain gaming’s standard. I get that it’s kind of ironic, seeing how 95% of all games require 3D modeling….
I would seriously like to know the percentage of hard core mini collectors compared to the total player base. I’ve never bought a mini in my life and have no plans to start, but to request that some P2W system be brought to OUR version of the game so some obsessive collectors can own a specific mini is not something I EVER want to see. The suggestion that could happen makes me shudder.
You can open a ticket with this info with ANet Support, but I think your data shows some obvious issues with something in the Telestra routing / DNS network.
My first guess would be that they are analyzing the route and for some reason throttling the NcSoft (and potentially others) connections. I seriously doubt Anet could do anything about this (or that they should feel obliged to do so).
Internet routing is currently in a very weird “wild-west” type of state right now with ISPs and providers trying to save money (throttling left and right) and nobody stepping up to set any standards or doing a very good job as an advocate for what is “acceptable business practices” for a consumer level connection.
….
Shuttering ? This game stutters no matter what. Especially in zergs.
…..
I do believe that was the point being made about it being less than useful. The gains you get outside of Zerg instances are just bragging rights as nobody can see beyond 60-80 FPS anyway….Getting 120 FPS is just pointless. (but I’m sure someone that the video card manufactures have brain washed to believe otherwise will be sure to tell me all the reasons I’m ignorant in this area).
Will magic find cap be increased in the expansion? I recently hit the cap finally and have no use for luck. It is just stacking in my inventory. Maybe create a vendor to trade luck for items?
Wow….mini-collectors are no end of entertainment here….
The masteries blog post said there is a mastery for crafting those. A collection doesn’t sound much like crafting …
Neither does “crafting” a Legendary Weapon….it’s mostly collecting, farming and flushing…
Oh, and I really think the zone specific events daily needs to be reworked or reconsidered. The system is terrible.
I personally feel this is one of the few interesting parts of the change (giving you a reason to visit a zone you may not have visited in a while). If you don’t want to go to that zone, then don’t and do some other Daily.
I will agree that one or maybe 2 more options in each category would eliminate the whiners that feel they are being FORCED to play a game mode they don’t want to (tho I do realize that ANet’s entire focus with this change was to “encourage” players to venture out of their comfort zones).
Proof that Buyer’s Remorse is still a thing….
Polls are agasint the Forum rules (I believe).
But….NO.
The current size of the DAT file is 19.8GB (via the GW2.DAT file properties). Look at yours (Guild Wars 2 folder) and the difference is pretty good ballpark answer.

The OP never explained WHAT he is struggling with the Hammer. I use it with GS and get the best of both. Most hammer guardians I see don’t know how to use the 3 hit auto-attack in conjunction with proper dodging to avoid getting hit a lot due to the slow swing speed. You can time a dodge and NOT interrupt the AA chain. Being able to do that properly is key.
I’m not 100% sure, but I think it’s in your Hero panel under the Story Journal tab.
I’ve gotten all of them for logging in while they were active, so I’ve never bought one….sorry if I told you wrong.
