Just a shot in the dark, but disable VSync and see if that clears up the clock issue.
I’m not sure anyone can fix your lag issues (rubberbanding, jerky movement, objects not being where they should be in game, etc.). This is usually due to some network issues on your end or your ISP throttling your connection to the GW2 servers.
I was wrong….my build doesn’t just remove conditions from myself and allies it converts them to boons. I really appreciate being told how bad the build a favor “wont’ be that good”, by someone that has no idea what I’m using.
No, my guardian is not set up to deal max DPS and since I’m not running dungeons with you, why do you care? The OP didn’t ask how to play a Guardian but how to play a Tank…..do him a favor and tell him he will not be successful in that attempt.
I do seem to get them more rarely now, but keep in mind that the newly “fixed” silver-fed Salvage-o-matic is now a viable alternative to Mystic kits. I haven’t forged Mystic kits in quite a while (and I’ve still got half a dozen in the bank). I only have one Silver SoM but if they put them on sale, I may pick up another.
Abyss and celestial are the best.
I’ll agree with you when one drops for me….I’d never pay that much for a dye.
Midnight Blue fakes a very good black on most parts and Fluff gives a decent White (I don’t particularly like how Celestial glows anyway).
All good except the MB… Asrock os awful… I’d go for a gigabite, MSI or Asus instead…
I’ve never used an Asrock, but I can vouch for Gigabyte or Asus being rock solid. I doubt I would ever buy another brand of MB, but I’m just picky that way.
Keep in mind that the Warrior has the largest selection of weapons to use of any Class….unless you lock yourself into a set of weapons (mentally), you shouldn’t get bored.
Per above I never get bored as I have one of each class to play and just swap to a different character if I feel like I’m in a rut.
Legendary Armor – Ascended stats that are select-able (per Legendary weapons).
The only “debacle” with Ascended items was the horrific unfairness of material requirements for light armor (that STILL exists). Beyond that, Ascended equipment is exactly where it needs to be (IMO).
I don’t see them adding any additional armor tier but I do see them adding new Legendary weapons. That may effectively make a new “tier” but only in terms of visuals and how they are created (recipe based Precursors)
Increasing the level cap will hopefully include some sort of system to upgrade existing equipment (at least Ascended stuff). Actually, increasing the level cap does not mean higher level equipment HAS to be introduced (just add another 4 or 6 trait points).

The only effect it can possibly have on PvE is to make dungeon runners take a few minutes longer to do a run (not game-breaking). Maybe it takes a few minutes longer to take down a World Boss (possible issue that may need to be addressed).
Actually, using the term “game balance” when talking about PvE is kind of chuckle worthy (as the PvE side of the game has very few “difficult” parts).

It’s very likely GW2 is stressing the CPU more than those other games (you can monitor the CPU usage on a 2nd monitor if you have one). That could likely be placing more load on the 12V rails of the PSU (tho, I’m surprised the PSU fan goes to a higher speed….that is unusual, but not impossible). The CPU gets the majority of it’s power from the 12V ALT harness (yellow and black wires on a seperate 6 or 8 pin connector near the CPU socket).
It is possible (per above) that the PSU is either defective or going into a higher load state and is increasing it’s own internal cooling (tho I have never run into a ATX type PS doing something like that).

I would look at the video driver change as the reason for the “new” behavior.
Whenever a map loads for me, I get 20sec to 3min of the loading screen (depends on the map and how populated it is….I’m guessing). THEN I get a brief black screen OR desktop flash and a return to the loading screen for 2-10 seconds before the zone loads up.
It may also be due to what mode you are playing on. I am using Windowed Fullscreen.
Note that I have never seen any adverse effects due to this behavior and do not consider it a “technical problem” in any way. Investigating the why or how to “fix” this, is in my opinion, a waste of resources (again, it has never caused any issues that I can identify).
I seem to recall this behavior starting right about the time the wardrobe system update dropped (9 or 10 months ago), but a video driver update could certainly make the symptoms of the loading screen blip different.
You could always roll back the video driver to confirm this.

I would change your email address / account log in via a Support Ticket. I’d make a new email account that is only used for GW2 (or at least build a proxy address via a new account and use that for ONLY GW2).
Change your GW2 PW to something 12 characters or longer that you have never used elsewhere on the internet.
Treat this as a learning experience (and NOT just for your GW2 security).
Just my 2 coppers.

Can’t use in-game lore based names for Character names.
I don’t think they actively scan for older names that may violate the policy, but it is certainly a possibility that if someone reports your character name, you may be forced to change it.
The did relatively recently ADD a bunch of in-game lore names to the character creation filter (per above link) sating they accidentally did not include them in the original filter.

I have seen this request (and this question) on these forums before, so it’s not an unheard of thing for Support to ask.
I agree that I would be highly suspicious and uneasy about allowing this and it would greatly depend on what the actual issue was for me to consider the answer.

lol what a joke. Purchase GW2 because they don’t require a subscription. But now, when you want to play any longer, they force you off by making the updates hose themselves. I left it “updating” for a day. 10GB later, still going. tried another server, start all over again. WTF is the 10GB of data I just wasted my bandwidth on? Idiot developers.
Your implication that this is some sort of intentional bait and switch to reduce users is some serious tin-foil hat speculation on your part. My GW2.DAT file is over 20GB, so it appears that whatever was wrong was attempting to re-download the entire DAT file (or some very large portion of it).
You do understand that only a very small portion of the playing community is having these issues, right? Yes, they need to address whatever is causing some of their CDNs to not operate properly for some players, but it’s not a grand conspiracy by Anet to steal you money.
Everyone that is still having the issues needs to try and change their DNS server to some 3rd party hosted ones (like GOOGLE) to remove the possibility that it is a DNS routing issue.

I’m pretty sure what you consider a “shout build” is not what I am currently using. My shouts give me and others swiftness (for mobility in zones) and lots of boons in addition to condition removal (with both my shouts and a one of the virtues). Nobody has ever complained and called me “selfish” for running it.
Sure, there are other builds that can provide better overall group DPS, but most players in PvE have DPS covered pretty well.
The real issue with what the OP is asking is that a TANK (as it exists in other MMOs or similar co-op games) simply does NOT exist in GW2. This was a direct design decision and if he attempts to play as a TANK (per other games) he will fail miserably and frustrate himself and other he is playing with.

I use Fluff for white
Note that it is tough to ID dyes by sight for a variety of reasons:
Note that you MUST also buy / obtain the Exotic insignia/inscription recipe as one of them is required as an ingredient for the Ascended one. (another 400 badges).
Hug the edges of ANY zone and as long as a World Boss event has not happened nearby in the last half hour, you will get some great bonus XP from most any enemy (definitely clear out the yellows)
You may want to avoid zones that have the Daily Events in them (as they will be heavily farmed on that day).
It will be a solid upgrade.
You are planning an x64 OS, right? (or the 8GB of memory is not needed).
Engineer will play somewhat similar to Ele (in terms of KIT swapping rather than Elemental swapping). Both require a good deal of button work and positional placement / awareness to play well.
Mesmer and Necro both provide some powerful ranged options and are spell casters (and will also benefit form whatever advancements you have made in Tailor Crafting).
If you finished the chapter (and thus do not have the option to play that mission again), you must restart the entire chapter again (as far as I know). This is one of the major drawbacks to Anet’s current LS Story Journal system (and requiring you to play missions multiple times to earn achievements).
If I’m not understanding what you are asking, I apologize as it was a bit unclear.

Not trying to be negative, but if your goal is make a TANK in this game, you are in for a LOT of disappointment. TANK in this game means you may be able to mitigate most damage for a few tens of seconds and then take take 3 heavy hits from a CHAMP before going down rather than 1 or 2 hits.
You will NEVER be able to stand next to a Champ or World Boss and just take infinite damage and maintain his agro (even with others assisting you)….just can’t happen in this game. As long as you go into this with that knowledge, you will be fine.
In general, the consensus on the differneces between those 2 are that a Warrior can be kept alive in most GW2 environments by a blindfolded monkey dancing on the keyboard (ok, I’m exaggerating….a bit) while the Engineer actually requires some thoughtful work to be effective (tho it can be built for VERY good survivablity).
Note that I play both classes and feel the “EASY BUTTON” and “SIMPLISTIC” rap given to the Warrior has been earned by the way LOTS of players use the class (not that it has to be played that way). This is s similar parallel to the classic “BEARBOW” Ranger general feeling in the game (the difference is that even a lazy played Warrior should be able to survive and possibly contribute while a poorly played Bearbow will fold like a house of cards when pressured a bit or their pet goes down).
Playing an Engineer well is a LOT of work. Only a good Ele will work harder (and potentially require more actual skill).
I guess my answer to you is BOTH….forcing yourself to “choose” is not a choice you MUST make. I simply change my “main” from week to week or month to month.
On the other side of that coin, you can earn significant gold per SP.
50s – 1g per SP is easy to get (but may take a bit of clicking and some TP activity).
1.5 – 3g SP can be done, but takes a LOT of clicking and time waiting on the TP to buy / sell stacks of crafting materials.
+3g per SP (I’ve seen claims of +5g / SP) is apparently possible, but requires savy TP skills and lots of time buying and selling materials as well as some advantageous fluctuation in the GW2 commodities markets.
I have tons of SP lying in the bank and on all my characters, but I’m just to lazy to turn them into gold (I have no interest in crafting a Legendary….that could change if I ever get a Precursor to drop).
A wider view of this entire subject opens up if you realize you CAN mix armor stats and keep a few spare pieces in your bags for use in specific areas of the game. Same with Trinkets (mentioned above).
Unless you are trying to do record breaking Dungeon runs, full Zerker is never needed in the game (and is highly useless against Bosses you can’t Crit).
….
I don’t understand the need or role of the different armor types in a game that says the trinity is gone. Can someone please explain?
Since classes share armor sets, having only one would be incredibly boring from a visual standpoint. If you haven’t figured it out yet, GW2 is much more of a “dress up” game than the NEED for statistical MAXing to be successful in combat. YES, you can maximize your DPS by following the Meta, but is far from a requirement to play the game.
Whoever told you Warriors, Guardians and Elementalists are the only viable classes have a very narrow view of the game and how to play it. I’m guessing it came from someone that considers the majority of the game taking place in Dungeons….

Sounds like the ISPs default DNS is not functioning properly in some way. Using a proxy or alternate DNS server seems to resolve the issue.
This is not a GW server issue but an issue with the DNS your ISP uses as it’s default. This is likely due to some bandwidth throttling routing changes at the ISP (all the rage with ISPs these days).
Editing your Host file is just asking for other DNS issues to pop up later….not advised.
If I deleted a toon by accident can my account be rerolled backwards to recover it and the stuff I had on it?
Not to be picky, but this “accident” requires you to type in the Toon’s NAME to confirm the delete…..a bit more involved than an “accidental” click.
If you had a gem purchased item on this character, you can submit a ticket to support and they will likely replace it (depending on the item), but you will NOT get the character back.
How is your windows UAC settings an Anet / GW2 issue? Run as Admin or disable UAC.
It’s their game and they make the rules (that YOU agree to when you accept the ToS to create an account). If they don’t want players using names used in the story lore, don’t use them. If you feel this is too harsh, go play another game.
This is exactly WHY the “this mail is from another player”, note was added to mail messages.
Nobody should fall for these scams now (but I’m sure some still do).

I’m guessing the main issue is going to be the same complaint other 4K PC players have made. Even at the largest current font and UI settings, it is very difficult to read text or use the UI as it is very small compared to 1080p). I’m guessing that it will be even worse on a 5K display…..
I wouldn’t anticipate any actual technical video issues, but I’m guessing that is possible (there were a few with the 4K PC systems when trying to span multiple displays, I think).

Go to all the home cities and Lions Arch and clear those maps (only Points of Interest and Vistas).. You will get about 5 levels doing just that.
Is this possibly the 10th time this happened?
What I don’t get and may be missing something is ever since the mega sever why are there still individual servers?
WvW is still server based.
Keep in mind that much of your internet connection performance will be based on who ELSE is sharing the wireless connection and how crowded the particular WiFi bands (channels) are in your location (not GW2 or GW2 server performance).
Even if your signal strength is good, there is only so much bandwidth available on WiFi frequencies (even if your network is fully secure and free from other users). Note that if you have congestion on your particular channel(s), your connection will still show connection at a high speed and with a good signal, but it will still be degraded (and there is nothing you can do short of moving the network to a less congested set of channels….and there are only 3 to chose from on an 802.11N network).
Keep in mind that in many cases, you will be berated by other players for running a heavy healing build for a variety of reasons:
The game is designed to reward DPS (good or not) so providing an unnecessary service to others while NOT contributing as much as possible to the common goal (DPS the enemy) is not going to garner any appreciation. Sad but true.
I’m not saying it’s useless or not helpful to some, but be prepared to hear some criticism for playing in that manner. Note that per above, there ARE reasonable hybrid builds (mostly Ele and Guardian) that can put out respectable DPS while being able to provide modest (if not significant in the case of the Ele) healing and damage mitigation to those nearby.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Many (nearly all) Legendary weapons add footprints as part of their “BLING” effects.
Unfortunately, the “Bearbow” playstyle teaches (and thus rewards) lazy, immobile ranged combat with nearly no dodging practice.. The likely hood of a Bearbow only player knowing what to do in a situation that insta-kills their pet and then drops more HUGE damage on them is nearly zilch.
Not saying all players that use the Bearbow combo are like this (I use longbow with a Drake or Cat with my own Ranger), but I’ve seen far too many in-game examples to state the cliche does not have it’s reason to exist….
You can get 56 (MAYBE 57) levels from crafting all 8 crafts to 400.
You can get another 18 taking the 6 available crafts to 500 (VERY EXPENSIVE).
I suggest starting with a Birthday Scroll to get 20 (if you have one) and then you can craft to 400 to reach 76. EotM can get you the final 4 levels in a few hours.
FIRST
Reach LVL 80 (unlock GM Trait tier).
THEN
Hover over the trait for a quick description and then click the telescope to get a map location. Complete the challenge described to unlock the Trait.
OR
Spend gold & skill points for Trait book at a Trainer. Purchased Trait will unlock when you use the book. I THINK the books are account bound (so you can get a character with spare SP to buy it for another character), but don’t quote me on that…..I’m sure the trait book indicates if it is account or soul bound in it’s description.

Hello Brother Grimm — TY for the info about ascended vs exotic dps, that is what i was looking for. Since bow is 2-handed I’ll assume its increase is closer to 12% than 5% and that would be significant, yay!
The range has nothing to do with 1-hand vs 2-hand but how often you CRIT % is (PRECISION) and what your crit damage (FEROCITY) increase is. The percentage increase from EXOTIC to ASCENDED of the base weapon damage is just about 5% flat (as I recall) for all weapons.
Before assuming the weapon stat change will greatly effect your overall DPS, you should look at the numbers closer. Especially if you are stacking PRECISION to the point that you are often hitting the 100% CRIT chance cap….(some of your PRECISION is being WASTED in those cases).
I think the last thing we will ever see from future content is new player classes (and I could be totally wrong).
I think the Dev team learned a lesson with the introduction of new classes with GW1 and that situation will not be repeated.
That error needs to be sent to the webmaster of the site or posted in the BUGS forum here (tho it’s not an in-game bug).
No.
Won’t happen.
Thread is waste of bandwidth and storage space.
I could park 8 or 9 of my characters at different chests and garner that many RAREs a day for absolutely NO effort.
If there was some method for the game to check that you actually DID the JP (there actually IS as Daily JP checks this) to give the RARE, then I have no problem with it.
I’m confused as to why you feel that all your armor and weapon stats must be of the same stat set? If someone has told you that’s in some way required, they have misled you. There is no reason to switch out the rest of your gear to use that weapon. Mixing stat sets is quite common (as long as you aren’t speed running Dungeons).
While that weapon stat set is not considered one of the more desirable ones, it could be useful in WvW or another setting where you wanted some increased direct damage protection. The other 2 stats are certainly desirable for any power and critical based build.
To be honest, it is generally considered that an Ascended weapon can give you somewhere between 5% and 12% DPS increase over an Exotic weapon, so the boost is not negligible (but it also certainly not a requirement to play in almost all areas of the game).
Note that wanting to join a server and there being ROOM for you to join are totally different things. A server that is FULL will be very problematic to get onto (tho it may be easier in the WvW off-season).
Note that FULL means there are no account slots available currently (not that there are a lot of players logged in right now). For a server to become NOT FULL requires either Anet to expand the maximum number of accounts on a server (happens very rarely) or someone must transfer their account on that server to another server.
Good Luck.

I’m trying to remember what people used to do when they got stuck in a game before the internet allowed them to scream in anger and look up answers.
Lots of cursing and ranting to nobody with broken controllers, keyboards and CRTs were the usual extreme results….
….basically you acted like an immature idiot but nobody outside your house (or neighborhood) knew it….
….not that I have any personal knowledge of such things.
From other reports I’ve seen on this forum (this happens quite often), CS is pretty good about allowing some sort of exchange for another item (but I don’t think they will straight up give you back your Relics).
