Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
Keep in mind there is little reason to try and obtain ALL the Traits (certainly not while leveling). Most players never use more than 25 Traits out of the possible 65. Depends greatly on how much you experiment with different builds.
I suggest buying the ones that you will use (or at least check and see how hard they would be to obtain while leveling) and then making it a long term “goal” to unlock them all later (I am doing this on a new character while doing Map Completion).
Join (or Guest to) a Guild and do Guild missions for commendations. Ascended Accessories cost 12 commendations and 5 gold (and you can earn 6 per week (per account) max).
Most Guilds do these on Sunday.
This kind of starts to make it far TOO easy to cast / use skills that should require some skill to place. The entire ground targeted skills thing came from getting AWAY from being able to fairly effectively perform combat in GW1 without even thinking (or looking). You could run into a mob and TAB > # SKILL with your eyes closed and be only marginally less effective than if you were viewing the combat unfold (sans using any interrupt based build).
I support ANYTHING that would allow the mouse to remain more visible in a Zerg situation, but I don’t support making effective use of ground targeting a mindless button mash / mouse combo.
Do you seriously think a drug dealer would ever consider a “life time supply” plan for a known junkie? Grow up.
Some MMOs however also sold lifetime subscriptions .. in the end its also a gamble
where you are not sure who gets more out of it.Also in case of MMOs they get the money at once and have no real further costs in the
future. Also people would maybe not really buy as much charges as they consume
with an endless kit.I know i will play around much more now with my hairstyles and colors now than i
normally would have done.
Do the MMOs you mention have a subscription? Keep in mind that Anet MUST sell gem items (again, MUST) to keep game servers on so we can have something to play…..it’s not just simple greed (as I tended to imply in my original post).
Comparing GW2 to “other MMOs” that have a different economic model to support the game is shortsighted and unfair. Nothing wrong with not liking GW2’s economic model, but this leads back the old cliche, “Maybe GW2 is not the game for you….”.
You know, all these ideas don’t matter much, simply because if they were implemented, three months from now someone would start a thread about how these rewards are not enough for the drag that is map completion and there should be more.
Not to mention what the player that has map completion on 10+ characters would say if all those additional rewards were not retroactive……(or what other players would post about it being “unfair” if they DID get all the additional rewards).
Do you seriously think a drug dealer would ever consider a “life time supply” plan for a known junkie? Grow up.
Now some sort of discount on applications to lower leveled equipment (for pre-transmutation charge parity) is not an unreasonable request.
I guess the idea might fly if the item were uber-rare much like the other perma kits but that would simply be introducing another lottery prize item into the game.

Players that frequent these forums have a vastly over-blown view of just how “ticked off” the player base is. Yes, there are hardcore players that range from raging to disappointed in the current state of the game (I’m one of the later, to be honest), but overall, the general player base is not nearly as upset as much of these forums tend to portray.
I think much of the silence is due to them still making some decisions about what they can and cannot do in an Expansion based on things still being tested via the LS content AND overseas markets being included in the release of any Expansion. Some of that may be timing and them not wanting to announce something a year out from the scheduled release.
Again, all speculation (and some wishful thinking, I suppose).
How is Sword/shield Warrior crippled?
You use skill # 2…..oh…how is the BUILD crippled? Never mind……
Seriously, just because a Build / weapon combo is not as effective as you would like it to be does not make it “crippled”. I’ll be the first to agree that if you are looking to out DPS another Warrior, you shouldn’t be using a Shield build of any type, but do you actually EXPECT a shield to out damage another off-hand weapon or 2 handed weapon? Not really a reasonable expectation.
I’ve been having bad skill lag in WvW lately too. I have 100down/15up, so I know it’s not my computer or local connection.
What about you non-local connection? Run TRACERT.
Not all paths on the internet go thru the same routers….they can be setup incorrectly or go bad (and Anet can’t fix that).
As long as the CPU is properly cooled, there should be no long term damage. Note that overclocking the CPU without proper cooling could be an issue, but that would be evident by monitoring the core and other system temps (there are utilities designed to do that if you are concerned).
In my 20+ years of computer hardware experience, I have never heard of a properly cooled Intel processor “burning out” due to overuse. Overclocking is another story, but all CPUs (I think from the 80486) have internal core temp monitors that will shut down the CPU before any damage occurs. More modern CPUs have actual clock throttling to prevent it.

FWIW I suspect the issue is with ‘Deranged’, not ‘Killer’. It’s a pretty harmful stereotype against mentally ill people, who are often associated with violence and the committing thereof when they’re in fact more likely to be victims of it, in part due to said stereotype.
That is certainly a reasonable assumption and mine may be incorrect. As stated above, OP will only be able to find out by asking Support via a ticket.
I in no WAY implied I was offended by any of the names mentioned nor intended to justify the name change actions.
Reasons I think OP is wrong:
Anet is using the LS to “test” the waters with new concepts that will be fleshed out with a “surprise” expansion that has been in the works for quite a while. Consider how all the negative comments above change if they announce an expansion after Wintersday and it’s ready for release by Year 3 Anniversary (if not sooner)? Players that have written GW2 off for months will be back in a flash and those that hold out, will eventually come back (if the Expansion is up to snuff).
I could be totally wrong, but I think some big things are on the horizon for GW2 and the fact that Anet is keeping it under complete wraps is a smart move (in terms for maintaining the longevity of the game).

I believe the issue with US State and Federal Laws is the inability to turn the “winnings” in to actual cash or RL assets (thru Anet supported means).
Note that Yak’s has been promoted into the Gold Tier for the first time this week (after winning NA 2014 Fall Silver Tier).
WvW is going to be much different there.
Ok. Don’t buy LVL 80 Pearls for that purpose….makes sense.
Per your statement, I don’t think Pearls can drop (I’ve never gotten one that I’m aware of), so that should be fairly simple rule of thumb.

I, not knowing anything about crafting, made an ascended greatsword with my main to transfer to my second character, but it was impossible. Any ideas?
When? All Ascended gear (and Legendary Weapons) have been account bound since April.
I don’t think they were changed to anything “high” for this WvW Tourney. The changes have always been to encourage movement from high pop servers to lower ones when they have done the changes, however. If I recall correctly, there were a number of servers that were FREE to transfer to during one of the pre-Tourney changes.
There has been some significant “changes” in the WvW support on quite a number of servers prior to and during this WvW Tourney (for a variety of reasons), so Anet may be attempting to sort out how they want to address those player support “changes” before figuring out how they want to nudge WvW players remaining in the game.

While the suggestion is valid, it should be WAY, WAY, WAY, down on the to do list. How about they fix the tons of bugs that still exist from release before we cater to the 1% that want to waste money on 4K gaming displays….
Have you contacted your ISP? They may be throttling you and all you have to do is ask them NOT to. ISPs often do this by default during peak hours unless the users complain about it. Note that most streaming video sites (Netflix, etc.) will buffer and not notice minor throttling while web browsing will not be overly effected by it.
The fact that you are seeing intermittent pauses indicates this may be what’s happening (just a guess on my part).
One other possibility is that you are using a high traffic network (wireless or wired) to access your internet connection. If other people on your wireless network are streaming YouTube videos or other high data use activities, that can cause intermittent data lags like you are seeing.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
There are certainly some graphical options they could add (mostly in terms of turning off or down the visual effects) to make large scale Zerg activities “better”, but expecting “netcode” (not the problem) or the Engine DirectX support (the REAL issue) to be altered on an existing 2 year old game is just not at all a reasonable request and it’s not going to happen..

Kind of off topic, but isn’t the ’hysteria" over Precursor rate partly due to the repeating of the “1 in 128 forges”, chances that gets tossed around in these forums and how this number is misinterpreted by players seeking a precursor?
Most players just don’t understand that what that means is you toss a 128 sided die EVERY time you toss in 4 Exotics and you MUST roll a 1 to get a Precursor. Most take it as meaning if you do 128 Exotic forges you should get a Procurer…..which is NOT a statistically realistic view of the odds.
I get this is from player ignorance of basic statistical terminology that may be obvious to others, but I feel it is a HUGE mis-communication with players that might be a bit overly-obsessed with obtaining a Precursor….(I get that’s not any one poster’s problem).
Not pointing or meaning to pass blame in anyway with this observational question.

Yup, seems like ineffable is not an option. I am going to try another suggestion, which was to make a few of those backpacks – they seem to give quite a few levels of skill-increase for a low cost. I am going to see how I do with it.
any progress on this? im about 465 or so on huntsman and refining ascended stuff has really slowed down and I already have 30 of each refined item.
Time to craft some exotics.
Don’t forget that you can BUY inscriptions that cannot be crafted on the TP (as well as components since you won’t get XP by crafting them any longer). Stick to unique discoveries as they yield the best XP.
Also, don’t forget about Discovering RARES you might have bypassed at T4 and T5. They don’t yield a ton of XP, but every little bit helps at this point. Note that you have to buy the recipes for the Inscriptions (or you can just buy the inscriptions on the TP). Also note that the T5 RARES cost no Ectos to Craft but can yield Ectos when Salvaged.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
…..
This is basically it, although there is one exception to the rule: you can not salvage inscriptions/insignias from crafted items. If you buy items from the trading post for salvaging, make sure that the item is one looted by another player, not one already crafted.
While this is true and a good tip, HOW do you tell if it was crafted or dropped?
The first problem with this question is HOW YOU define PvE (as that encompasses multiple different actual modes of play with very different goals and “requirements”).
….
Valuing tickets @ 100g is nonsense if you look at current tempest prices
Gotta agree with this. I have no idea where OP remotely thinks a BL ticket is worth 100g.
I have NO clue how the OP is valuing BL Kit uses….? They are certainly worth it to pull expensive Sigils and Runes off equipment (and possible get you some rare inscriptions or insignia), but the actual VALUE is from the item, not the kit that salvage it.

If you are new, read the stickied threads in this forum. There is a WEALTH of information there.
If you want to play WvW with your Family so bad, you could ALL transfer to another server that isn’t FULL. I get it ‘s not ideal, but it’s a potential solution.
Note that if you do a reverse charge against the account purchase ALL accounts purchased on the CC are likley to be PERMA banned……I’d think long and hard about doing this (not to mention it’s going to negatively effect your credit rating as you DID get the product you paid for with your card). If you seriously want to pursue a credit, do so with the Anet Support team.
I certainly agree there are various bugs with certain classes (skills mostly) that need addressing, but I tend to think Anet themselves feel the general class balance is fairly good at the moment. Sure, there are specific roles / stat combos that work better than others for specific classes, and some of those bleed into specific game modes being more difficult (or easier), but overall there are not glaring deficiencies (but I’m sure each class want’s THEIR class buffed and/or other’s nerfed….that’s the nature of any RPG ever made).
Note that they also did not adjust the Server caps, so transferring is less about cost and more about continually full servers (that you likely have NO chance of getting transferred to).
Far too many players do not understand that a FULL server has nothing to do with how many players are currently logged in, but how many ACCOUNTS are assigned to the home (full ) server.
Ways a FULL server becomes available for transfers:
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I’m wondering what the OPs point in posting this is.
If you want the game of GW2 banned in your country, continue pursuit of this line of discussion as the BL chest system is not going to be altered to meet one countries laws (unless they are US Law or possibly Korean).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Have to add that if you are doing Map Completion for rewards (sans the Gifts of Exploration for a Legendary), you are doing it wrong…..
If you are just looking for rewards, there are better methods in the game.
You need to post the ticket # in the 3 days old sticky thread as that WILL get it looked into. You need to keep in mind that a compromised email account allows a hacker to BLOCK ANET emails to prevent getting your account back. Just securing your email won’t remove these.
They simply do not need the financial nor player-base boost at this point in the game. (Tho, that may not be the case at the end of LS2 and Wintersday).
An expansion will happen when it is financially needed.
Think of it as Anet’s hole card in a VERY long card game…..
An off color joke and Racial Hate should not even be compared in jest….. I’m the most un-PC guy around here but that example is just flat out wrong and deserves some swift action.
While it’s none of my business, I’m curious if these blatantly hate based Guild names result in any Account suspensions or possible even perma-bans. I would certainly hope this was a personal Guild and not something players would actually WANT to join….but some of the things I’ve read in chat lead me to believe there are players of this mentality in the game.

Cultural T3 skins are more proof that you have the money to drop a 120g on an armor skin. The armor (being Rare) is pretty useless to a LVL 80 character (seeing how you could fully equip a dozen characters in full Exotic for that price).
The only other reason to obtain it is Achievements.
The Wardrobe system makes it a bit more useful (considering you could have other characters of the same race / weight class), but the racial limitation still makes that questionable for many players.
Also, the price has remained constant while what 120g will buy on the TP (and how long it takes to earn) has changed DRASTICALLY since release. Much easier to obtain now.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I read all these, but have to ask what the OP means by “above them”?
No skill is going to move you to somewhere you could not normally move (run / walk to ….not JUMP to). Thus the issue with uneven ground (that you couldn’t smoothly walk / run across between skill user and target). Some skills it’s a MAJOR issue that has never been addressed.
I suspect that Anet has plans for release some sort of HARD MODE like in GW1 in the future and hopefully that will answer some of the OPs issues with general mobs. My real thoughts are that MegaServer was the first step (and they are still tweaking that) in that plan.
You can’t get better AI by throwing money at your development team OR hosting hardware. The belief that this is a “money problem” is just ludicrous. Now that’s not to say it may not be a “resource” or priority issue and certainly money plays a part in both of those.

Conditions are broken for ONE aspect of the game (that is used in 2 modes of play). Not saying it’s not important, just that some perspective should be used when “demanding” it be “fixed” and exaggerating just how much the inability to condition down a Boss really effects the overall game (not very much).
The REAL issue here is that there is NO way to fix this for BOSS encounters (many vs 1) and balance it for PvP (x vs y) with the current mechanics. Overhauling that mechanic is NOT a trivial thing.
The browser you are using (more specificially, the browser that is your system’s DEFAULT) would not have no effect (in general) on the TP pages using IIS, Apache, or ANY web server software.
How your systems DEFAULT browser is set up and it’s cache would have everything to do with this and I’m not sure Anet could write a script to cover eveyrone’s browser of choice (but I’m just guessing the process would be different for each browser being used).
What does another Mount thread have in common with young Kevin Bacon?
Are you checking at all times of the day? No server is completely full 24/7. Try checking during the night/early morning (US time) sometime.
Edit: If your friend hasn’t made any substantial leveling with any characters yet, he can transfer for free.
Above is incorrect information as a FULL server has NOTHING to do with how many players are currently in the game….
A server is FULL if there is no more room for any ACCOUNTS to be assigned to it as a home world…..in order for space to become available, someone actively has to transfer to another server (and that is not likely to happen on a top tier WvW server like Jade Quarry).
Thought you were asking about the Champion one in Malchor’s. That one appears to be a periodic GROUP Event.
I have never done the event chain in Straits before (so I was unaware an Eye even existed there). My bad.
Long shot in the dark, but reseat your memory stick and video card…..
Crafting for your one and only character is next to impossible (without some other source of funds or materials). The crafting system was not really designed to let you craft your own level appropriate gear while you level your character (unless you can afford to BUY the needed materials).
Inquiring about how to make more money from your Rares and then admitting you sell to buy orders is an oxymoron…..never sell to buy orders. Period. If you are going to be lazy about it, at LEAST match the highest sell order…. (this is assuming the buy / sell order delta is at least a few silver).
Of course, the TP players on this forum will never tell you this….you are their favorite type of player.

Ulion – have you actually looked into the Ecto Salvage method? It’s possible you can actually MAKE a profit as T6 dust as well as luck is generated. Most player report breaking even or coming close….it’s not nearly as costly as you seem to think (tho it does take a bit more starting capitol than your “cheap Green item” method).
Temple Karma armor is 288K for a full set. Keep in mind that currently you cannot get the upgrades OFF this armor so think hard about putting high priced upgrades on it.
Don’t think it’s on a timer of any sort. I’ve heard it has to do with the status of nearby Group Events (possibly Dwayna Temple even) and the status of the other Champ that spawns in that cave (Priest of Zihaitan?). I think they alternate in some manner.
I just help kill him whenever I’m passing thru gathering and he’s up….
