Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
The answer to the OPs question of confusion is that you CAN NOT know which material you will get. The game is based on RANDOM (RNG) rewards in MANY MANY aspects of the game….get used to it.
Looking at this as a flat 40% increase in stats is VERY VERY one-sided view.
Per above, someone that has actually played in some higher level tournaments would have to weigh in and make a claim that the Celestial Stats are OP or not (so why not post this claim of CELESTIAL OP! in the PvP forums).
Your ISP is throttling you during their “peak” (evening) hours.
Blaming Anet for this is like being kittened off at Madison Square Garden for the George Washington Bridge being shut down…..
Use TRACERT to gather evidence of where the routing delays are happening and use this to confront your ISP. My guess is they will claim nothing is wrong but your problem will magically go away…..
……I can play without troubles for the whole morning but when the “cursed time” comes the game starts to be unplayable. Every single result shows the problem is between my ISP and NCSoft.
…….
This is 100% evidence your ISP is throttling your bandwidth at certain times of the day. Or at the very least your bandwidth is being “profiled” and routed differently based on their network “peak” times.
ONLY solution:
Anet is not responsible for your ISP (or someone routing your internet) trying to short shift your internet service. The issue here is that the general public does not understand just how far ISPs will go to save themselves a few pennies. Most of them will throttle by default and quickly turn it off at the first complaint from individual customers.
Several things to keep in mind.
The fact that your PW was not changed (at least you did not mention that), does not point toward continued account access, but if you didn’t change the PW, it could certainly still be accessed. Check the AUTHORIZED NETWORKS under your MY ACCOUNT > SECURITY on this site to see if any suspicious logins have happened (keep in mind that hackers can opt NOT to remember the location when logging in and they can then erase the emails required to log in if they have access to the email account).

Yeah but it already is a source of potential profit, they’re double dipping when we’re paying to reapply the skin every 5-10 levels. (triple, quadruple, etc dipping actually)
Seriously? Exactly who is forcing you to reapply the skins?
The system has been vastly improved and rather than being grateful and pretending it’s “off topic”, you are falsely accusing them of profiteering…..nice.
This (or similar) suggestion gets brought up 2 or 3 times a week (like that other topic that rhymes with “Counts”), and it is highly doubtful that Anet is simply going to cripple one of their more lucrative revenue streams.
As mentioned above, the Wardrobe system GREATLY reduced the cost of playing dress up once your character reaches 80 and also allowed for multiple uses of previously one time use items obtained from the Gem Store.
Players that keep suggesting things should be FREE in this game need to remind themselves of how Anet keeps the Servers powered up….they have to make money in the Gem Store.
Note that there were several reports over the past few months of specific PLAYERS causing massive lag issues on the entire server they were logged into at the time. I can’t recall the details nor if any corrections were made but it seemed to be related to the actual PLAYER ACCOUNT (as any of their characters seemed to cause the issue).
There were several threads on this forum regarding the issue (the player was reporting it and apparently working with Support to solve the problem). I have no idea if it was ever resolved or what the status currently is but it sounded like a very rare and isolated type of issue effecting only this players account. If this were an actual issue (and it sounded legit to me), it could obviously happen to other players accounts and they might not realize what was happening.
I’d spend time searching for the threads if the forum search feature actually worked….

Per other posts in this forum, Anet will pursue and punish those that break agreed upon transactions (as long as proof of scamming exists), but will NOT correct the transaction itself (no reimbursements or refunds for items or gold lost).
Buyer (or Trader) beware!
This is a horrible idea, BTW. The minute you believe you won’t be scammed and “trust” a large transaction is when it will happen. You have been warned.
Best case senerio is you loose lots of gold and items while your dishonest guild members get suspended or perma-banned. I guess eventually you will have several honest victims to trade with….the question is if it’s worth it for a 15% fee that the game actually NEEDS to control the economy?
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I’d say your only option here is to point out these threads where an exchange mistake (not a gem purchase mistake) was reportedly refunded and bring that to Customer Service’s attention.
Either everyone is forgetting (or wasn’t aware) that Before the wardrobe change, you weren’t able to apply them more than ONCE and couldn’t get them back if something was applied over them.
The current system is much more forgiving.
Seems off topic. Your problem only affected people who only have one of each weapon/armor. Most people have several of each weapon for different purposes with different skins anyway, so they never overwrote a good/rare skin.
My point is NOW they don’t have to worry about any of that as transmutation charges are cheap (or free for bit of effort). Previously, if you bought a gem skin (no matter how many) you got ONE use of it….PERIOD. The skins being overwritten an lost was a problem but not the main focus or my comment….being able to only use it ONE time was. If you can’t see that the current system is vastly superior, all I can do is try and explain it.
Both Achievement and HoM skins are EARNED (and were zero cost before the Wardrobe change). Gem skins are purchased (and do NOT have to cost RL money) and have NEVER been no cost to apply. Again, if you can’t see the difference, not sure anyone can help you.
It’s one thing to ASK for them to change this, but another to delude yourself and everyone else with some made up logic that somehow this change makes “sense” when it really does not.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Bottom line: There is now NO reason no to use Karma containers as soon as you get them (no need to store them) as the Karma is account wide (goes into a common pool) and no boosters can be used to gain extra if you pile them up for later use.
The game requires you to AVOID damage, not try to absorb it. This is more important for the lower HP classes (obviously).
Disclaimer: I have a Ranger and love playing them.
Rangers are HORRIBLE for new players to learn the combat mechanics of the game.
Ranged combat with a built in “tank” (pet). This causes multiple issues. Reliance on a permanent second target (your pet) AND stationary ranged attacking as your default offense. It’s just BAD to learn to play GW2 without needing to move and dodge and avoid damage. These skills are HIGHLY needed later in the game for a variety of reasons and they need to be 2nd nature, not what you have to do when rushed by a powerful mob that took down your pet in 2 hits.
Now if you are going to pick up a melee weapon with a Ranger and learn how to use it properly, you will be ok, but simply relying on the “Bear-Bow” meta for it’s early ease of use will bite you right in the tail when you get to Orr…..(or try a Dungeon).
I suggest all player LEARN to play with a Melee class first as Bear-Bow Ranger types promote “lazy” gameplay and can teach poor habits to players.
Just my 2 coppers on the issue.
I think the problem is with your internet.
Otherwise provide me a meaningful explanation why I do not have these problems(I’m playing PVP, so I suffer TERRIBLY when lag comes along) and you have them(In dungeons, where one might not even get seriously affected by them)I think that you don’t know how it works
The problem can be on the route to the server, on the server itself, or on your ISP side.
Not having problems outside of GW2 already rules the ISP out. Route problem is probable, server problem after patch is super-probable. A lot of other ppl have it too, I asked in-game (yesterday, dunno how’s it today, haven’t played yet though…)
Just to clarify how it REALLY works:
Bottom line:
Note that TRACERT can only show transmission side traffic, so if the problem is from the ANET side to your system, you will not have any data to identify that issue.
Oh. Man. I can just see it if mounts were in the game: “Ooo…I want that pink, fluffy spider mount, he looks so cuuutte!” Gah. Please. Spare me that.
It’d probably be something godsawful like a quaggan riding a skateboard while the player rides on its shoulders. Then again, I could see having a truck full of junk with skritt riding on it, a la, Beverly Hillbillies. :P
Ok. The Skritt thing would be awesome…I must admit
One skritt playing a banjo-like instrument made out of junk. Ok. THAT I would be okay with
Still want a skritt named Patsy running in front of me clacking 2 coconut shells together….
Game doesn’t need them and neither does it need another resource hogging graphical collectable (see mini).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Per above, I’ve never been able to reliably direction dodge with the “double tap” feature so I set a dodge button on my mouse and use direction keys (that I have on a keypad thumb-stick) for flawless dodging.
Either everyone is forgetting (or wasn’t aware) that Before the wardrobe change, you weren’t able to apply them more than ONCE and couldn’t get them back if something was applied over them.
The current system is much more forgiving.
Hahahahahaha, oh my these forums never change. Prove something beyond any doubt, people still say its false.
So… where’s your proof?
My proof is 2 players including myself maze farming the prince rats(not even counting all other people that reported same thing). Transformed rats = 100% drop rate until DR kicks in. Farming for 3 hours straight. One person farmed on same thief the entire time. I had to stop anywhere between 10-20 mins and switch to another character. Otherwise Id get about 3-4 ToT bags from 20 mobs. Characters that I rarely log on to play, and those I use heavy. This proved there is a problem either with drop tables or DR that effects accounts differently. I can take a video next year but that Prince thing is gone till next year. Anet defense force never changes.
The only proof this gives is that you don’t fully understand how DR works and are making HUGE assumptions based on how you THINK it should work. Where has it ever been established that DR is reset by changing characters?
Also, if I were coding a DR feature that I would NEVER want professional farmers to figure out, some RNG factor in HOW it works differently from one log in to the next (or some other factor that YOU nor I know) would be EXACTLY how I would code it to KEEP it “unknown”).
Baffling issues in this thread:
1) The number of players seriously buying the OPs Guildie claims (images and video can be cleverly edited).
2) The actual number of otherwise seemingly intelligent players that seem to actually believe some accounts are luckier than others.
Now an item to turn soulbound items to account bound is not a horrific idea.
98% of the items that are Account Bound are that way for a good reason (even if you don’t like it).
Gotta add that if you are calculating loot / hour on activities, you might want to re-evaluate playing as well.
I think that’s called an hourly job, not a game….
I am going to take exception with Cyrill’s statement that you have to be LVL 80.
Basically any drop that could generate a named Exotic can generate a Precursor (Lots of Mystic Forge data confirms that a Precuror is just another entry in the named Exotic loot table). I’ve personally gotten a named exotic from a Champ Bage with a LVL 40ish Character and I’ve SEEN a guildie get Spark from a Champ Bag while leveling a new character (about 2 months ago).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I’m not apposed to he idea that Precurors should have a (slightly?) higher chance to drop in Orr than Queensdale, but the fact that this is not the case isn’t a game stopping tragedy of epic proportions….
This thread is more proof that far too many players seem to think the pursuit of the almighty Precursor is why the game exists.
Another player complaining a company wants to make money (OMG!!!111!!!!) besides the fact that Gems (or real money currency exchange) can be acquired by playing the game. Oh, what a surprise…
BTW, where is the OP to sustain his argument after the responses? Left? Oh, what a surprise…
Maybe he went to play another game.
I when to play FFXIV where a single patch content more content what GW2 been releasing the entire 2 years
Have fun paying the monthly fee! (and exaggerating in another game forum).
Really only useful to gather home nodes and you don’t have a character to park near a home instance (and use to gather them every day).
Yes, it is less than ideal for 90% of the playerbase (just guessing at that percentage).
I do agree that OPs overall tone in posting about this suggests some other issues as nobody is forcing you to buy the item….just ignore it. If you purchased it and are disappointed, try opening a Support ticket, they are usually rather generous with refund requests on gemstore items.
There is only one Champion left in Queensdale.
AFAIK, the API in no way indicates when Champions spawn and the are NOT on a timer like the World Boss events, so that leaves player updated website as a possibility for input data for some utility like this.
Exactly who is going to miss killing the Champ by taking the time to update a website that they are UP? (and will be dead by the time the website is refreshed). Also, since MegaServer has removed dedicated Server zones, this would have to be tracked by IP address (takes additional time to ID, much less get to in game). Doubtful as to what you are asking for is even possible in a remotely useful state.
First guess would be your ISP throttling your connection.
Does this only happen when playing during peak (evening) hours? That kind of behavior is certainly indicative of what ISPs are attempting to get away with these days on consumer connections.
A TRACERT report is better indication of WHERE the slowdown or data loss is happening. Also, I don’t think Anet servers actually respond to direct PING requests (they certainly shouldn’t).

T6 slots are over to the right in the collections tab (not at the bottom like you would think). Maybe you are just missing where the locations are?
I don’t see what is confusing. As long as you don’t use the Anet company owned assets for profit or non-personal use, you are within the Terms of Use.
People analyze the GW2.DAT file all the time and Anet doesn’t sue them (at least not to my knowledge). As long as the data and assets are not used for profit, I’m not sure why they would care if you used them to print 3D models…..absolutely no different than printing out a screenshot or posting it on a website.
If what you are looking for is “Sure, go ahead and do whatever you want to obtain the data to do 3D printing”, that is likely NOT going to be stated here or anywhere (they MUST protect their assets from any future claims that they did NOT protect them).
Not to be rude or derail this thread but why is it NOT in the Dungeon Forum?
Yes, stacking happens in Open World events, but it’s a totally different mechanic beyond 5 players and Dungeons are a rather small segment of the game (despite what Dungeon runners want to believe).
Wouldn’t it be better used in Artificer (for some potions)?
I’m still curious about who knows where the Bloodstones currently are, why they are grinding them down to dust and how the little bags of it are getting distributed to every chest in Tyria on a daily basis?
It does have a strange similarity to a drug distribution channel …..
Sorry, but pursuing a Legendary without having the Precursor (and being broke by your own admission) is just a recipe for frustration….good luck to you.
Sucks I have half a dozen in my bank I don’t want and players on these forums complain about farming for months with none…..I’d gladly give them away if possible.
I’ve always felt that a new class of item is needed that will let you GIVE items to other players but not sell them on the TP. I guess that would create a potential black-market for those items, however….sigh
The classification of RETALIATION as a BOON is questionable to begin with.
It should be like AEGIS or BLIND (lasts for one attack). ONE large bundle of return damage and it ends. Would require some tactics to avoid, but would not be overly punishing if you make a mistake or miss seeing it go up.
Just my 2 coppers.
Not for me, but you mileage may vary. Are you actually running multiple screens? If not, you might want to try both (you can change while in game) and check your FPS and performance in general. Without a 2nd display, I doubt you can tell the difference.
…..Try the Nvidia control panel as well and check the Vsync options.
THIS.
Games, OSs and Video drivers often conflict in terms of who is actually in control of the Vsync settings inside the application (Users get confused and think it is on when it really is not).

First think I would suggest is doing a repair.
Look for the -repair option on this page (and the page tells you how to use it):
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
Check your Story Journal for where the GAME thinks you are in it’s progress (not where YOU think you are). The Wurm battle is an instance, so there isn’t any way you can get “stuck” in it. You may have to redo it (look for the GREEN star).
If all else fails, 2 options I can suggest:
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
While it is similar to the Razer logo, it lacks the 3 “leaf” Celtic-ish center piece….
I’m thinking the actual characters might shed more light on this.
You are correct about the armor type (and Pearl if a weapon).
However, you are incorrect that other Rabid Gear (that drops) can’t be sold….they just usually are NOT (because of the Inscription / Insignia potential).
Mystic Flush fodder….gets rid of 4 at a time (but it would be nice to make the process more “stream-lined”).
I like human zones. They feel tiny and weak :-D
So Asura must be annoying and teeny-tiny?
Keep testing the weapons to find the ones you like. You will have plenty of time once you reach level 80 for others to tell you what is “BEST”…..
Surviving in this game is more about avoiding big damage. Learn to Dodge, Kite and use your other damage mitigation skills (Aegis for a Guardian). That means learn to use that limited damage mitigation at the RIGHT time…..
Just a side note, don’t rush to LVL 80. Enjoy the journey (at least the first time).
Very good links….Kudos!
chuckle worthy
every class easily hmm.. perhaps with food, sigil, runes, 10-15 meh thinks.
orcourse thats only with enemies.
only ele/engi can truly do it solo (as in with no assistance from enemies)
war can do i think about 6-12ish soloeverything else needs enemies
as per permanent I think only the warrior can do that and for that he needs an infinite suppy of enemies.
Exactly….I wasn’t asking for nobody to use Runes or Sigils, just requesting that those making the claims of how “easy” this is to give actual game-play examples for each class that don’t include Battle Sigils and swapping weapons as quickly as possible as your means to do so.
As stated, this is “easy” for some classes, not so much for others (and I’m not suggesting it should be “easy” for ANY classes and certainly not for ALL classes).
….
I simply pointed out that I didn’t think it was fair to charge me to use a skin I already paid for. Feel free to disagree but please do it without the ridiculous non-comparisons and name calling. You may think I’m wrong, that doesn’t make me greedy or anti-capitalistic.
You do realize that prior to the Wardrobe Change, you wouldn’t even had the option to use it again, right? Anet made a change in the game to allow you more options to use an item you purchased with gems but you want to complain about transmutation charges?
BTW, there are methods in the game to obtain T-Charges without RL money costs.
Yes, only from salvaging.
But can be purchased from the TP.
Note that gear CRAFTED from these purchased Insignia / Inscriptions have no chance to salvage out the Insignia / Inscriptions and there is NO WAY to tell a dropped RABID piece of equipment from a crafted one (sans, that all CRAFTED items will be LVL 80).
Don’t forget foes that drop bags….those contain materials that are based on level of the bag (from the level of the foe that dropped it). Farming specific level bags in certain areas can yield some decent lower / mid level leather and cloth raw materials.
Discounting that duration runes have NOTHING to do with Might generating options (just if you can get to and maintain 25 stacks by yourself), you keep saying every class can do it, but fail to give genuine examples that would be practical to actually use in the game.
I don’t disagree that some classes make this easy as pie (Ele, Engie, Warrior), but some have a tough time generating ANY Might by themselves without Sigils (Necro, Mesmer).
My point is your claim that EVERY class can do this “easily” is an exaggeration. Certainly some can, but not all.
Hey, I could be wrong in my understanding of how some classes can do this….enlighten me.
