I have submitted over a dozen tickets with Anet Support and have NEVER not had a person respond within 48 hours. I ALWAYS get an automated response about my ticket submission within several minutes of the submission.

If you have not gotten these automated responses (that have your ticket # in them), you are having some sort of communications problems with Anet and your email provider (email getting blocked, sent to spam folder, etc.).

I have seen reports that ticket response is s bit slower with an influx of new players (recent price discount on game), but nothing that would take WEEKS to get a reply.

There is an ! button at the bottom of the mail. Click it and report the mail.

My thoughts exactly. Quit reading when he started complaining about a specific weapon skill not making sense for his particular racial choice…..I think that was 3 paragraphs in so less than 5% of his lengthy rant.

I’d rather see some sort of Guild Skirmish area (like GvG in GW1) that you can invite other Guilds to for a match or 2.

60% of the things listed are not something that a Guild Hall needs as they are readily available elsewhere (and I doubt Anet wants Guild Halls to de-populate those areas).

As long as it’s not in Open World zones (sans some special arena type area), I’ve got no issue with Dueling.

Not to rub salt in the wounds, but I’m surprised they haven’t changed your display name yet…..Tyria is certainly copyrighted lore at this point.

This likely has to do with them recently “fixing” the naming filter (to include a bunch of in-game lore names they missed) and someone possibly reporting all your names….who did you PO?

My guess is it’s a UI size issue (as to why they don’t offer the lower resolutions).

Kind of the opposite of all those players with new 4K monitors that can’t read the UI text at ultra high resolutions.

Open a ticket with Support as nobody here will be able to act on your request.

The only time I’ve heard of them allowing a player to change the display name is when their original contained something that was a security issue (like their real name, etc.).

But I had this tag since before head start, and have been posting on the forums since then. Why the sudden change now, nearly 3 years later?

If someone reported it, that may be the frist time they noticed….you cleverly misspelled the naughty bits and got past their filter (which they may take issue with, BTW). They don’t have a bunch of people running about reviewing character and screen names for banning (but will do so when one is brought to their attention).

I play both characters (in fact, I play at all of them) and both are enjoyable in their own way. I will say that if this is your FIRST character to take to 80, PLEASE don’t learn combat mechanics on a Ranger.

While the Ranger is a high survival character, what makes them very survivable also teaches the player some lazy habits in terms of combat. Someone who has never played another character can easily fall into the hang back, strike from the back constantly mentality that the Ranger does so well.

The problem with this is you likely never learn to properly kite an enemy, dodge a heavy attack, use avoidance skills at the right time or how to deal with a mob when you don’t have a built in tank (your pet). I love playing my Ranger but if you learn to play GW2 combat with one, you are doing yourself (and others you eventually play with) a disservice.

If Tailoring is your first move into Ascended….man, that’s rough. You picked the worse place you could to dive into the water.

Just when Magic Find came out there were already multiple guides suggesting the exact same thing…. So don’t worry about your ecto-prices.

I’m pretty sure when MF first became a thing, you couldn’t salvage Ectos.

Ectos became salvageable for a variety of reasons later (and one of them was an alternate method to boost MF). I’m unsure of the dates, but I’m POSITIVE you couldn’t salvage Ectos for quite a while after MF became an account wide stat.

But you are correct that this method has been out in the wild for a long time and was not a secret so I wouldn’t worry to much about this post and Ecto prices.

Layline Rifle has a railgun type sound effect when fired and a unique sound (whir type power up) when equipped.

While something like this would be nice, I fail to see how anyone “needs this”.

I’m wondering if part of the reason for it NOT being done is it being used as a “gear-check” that could be used against players trying to join parties. Just saying.

From my experience in the NA Servers, just show up at the Guild activity are on Sunday and you will likely find other Guilds already gathering there. Just ask in chat if you can tag along and help.

If you like Fractals, get the rings that way.

If not, nothing wrong with using your Laurels (especially since now, all you have to do is log in everyday to get up to 55 per 28 days of log ins).

Due to the additional Ecto cost via the Laurel route, it IS much better to get Accessories via Guild Commendations.

Is it possible the banning was for some issue with a payment via a CC?

From what I understand, If a CC reverses a payment for a charge then Anet will likely perma-ban all accounts purchased with that CC number.

Per above, each account will need to open a ticket with support to try and clear up the issues separately and nobody here (Anet employee or not) is going to discuss this type of issue on these forums. This level of discourse is between the account owner and Support.

Totally missed the point, but looking at it objectively would turn your “argument” in to a childish tantrum, so your exaggerated reaction is to be expected.

Seriously doubt it as they would have to spend a good deal of resources working out and debugging how a race change would actually work in-game with different level characters. These resources could be used for LOTS of other things that either need addressing or are beneficial to a larger player audience.

Besides, as mentioned above the already existing solution is to buy more character slots (and that solution is economically beneficial for Anet). Considering this, I seriously doubt a race change feature is beyond the “yes, we know some players have asked for it.”, stages.

All the speculation on what the new systems are going to do or not do is a waste of bandwidth….we don’t know yet.

Plucking out one statement and nitpicking it as a display for “GW2 DEVS LIE!” is just petty. If you truly feel that way, why are you here and surely you aren’t still playing the game?

Some of you that are complaining about GW2’s “endgame” do not appear to have a clear grasp of other MMOs (that were being hammered by that article) endgame and gear progression treadmill actually work. NOBODY in GW2 is gear gated out of any content (save mid to higher level Fractals).

You can level up a character to 80 and get full Exotics in less than 24 game hours without any problems and are then set to do 95% of the content in the game. Personally, I’m not crazy about that fact (as it minimizes what I consider the best part of the game….leveling), but it’s certainly NOT a situation that forces a completely different game mode / experience on anyone to enjoy the game at the max level.

To me, THAT is a good thing,. If you don’t agree with that philosophy to some degree, maybe you are playing the wrong game (and there are plenty of others out there to let you gear treadmill to your hearts content).

If you cannot see how GW2’s “endgame” is different, you need to investigate some other MMOs to see just how different it is. If you don’t like GW2’s endgame, there are options out there for you to play.

While I’m definitely appreciative of the information, I’ll reserve my congratulations for when it becomes playable…(and any accolades for after I play it).

I say this in a very open minded and supportive way, but having not been overly impressed with the LS content, I cannot blindly assume HoT is going to be worthy of congratulations just because it’s announced.

Just because the term Revenant is used to indicate an undead creature in D&D (or other RPG / Fictional lore) does not specifically imply that anyone that is this class is an undead character. We living go to the Mists all the time (and have since the original GW1 campaign).

The idea that a new class would have their own starter area is just silly.

GW2 Devs are not likely to respond to a request like you are making and they certainly are not going to block senders for you. If you feel this a legitimate harassment issue, submit a customer service ticket. SERVICES (top of page) > SUPPORT > SUBMIT TICKET (top right of SUPPORT page).

I hate to sound negative, but that’s likely the WORST thing that can happen. I have no clue if Anet can cancel and replace an Account Key, but that’s what you need to ask.

Out of those 3 only “ranged” fits a Mesmer….. Mesmer is one of the few classes that has no built in swiftness options (save for a Focus skill) and Shatter Mesmers are hardly “high DPS”.

Exactly how can a seller be sure they get their gold?
How can a buyer be sure they will get the goods?

If either goes wrong, Anet gets contacted and has to waste time hunting down the bad guy and banning them (note they will NOT refund any money or items on a deal gone bad).

Everything above is irrelevant when BLTP is used for transaction.

Whether you like it or not, the solution is already in the game.

I do agree that a clear policy on the use of the LFG tool for buying and selling needs to be stated in the LFG tool window.

I’m concerned with the statement, “someone who has issues with dodging.”

You need to learn to Dodge. Period. This game will be a frustrating exercise in constant down state for you if you do not figure out how to properly dodge to avoid big damage hits.

Runes of Pack are definitely WAY under-rated. A good solid (and economical) choice.

Nagling Giant. (note that is NOT the Ascalon starter area…..it’s the next zone up).

I’ve defeated him solo, but it takes time and reasonable skill (certainly knowledge of when to disengage and avoid his big damage knockdowns). Now keep in mind that was with a down-leveled 80 in full Exotics. I agree that taking him down solo with an actual same level character (lvl 18) with comparable equipment would be quite the heroic feat (but I’m sure some hardcore player has done it).

You can develop the craft skills on the same or different characters and the fact that Armor and Weaponsmith use the same raw materials is not really related at all.

Your problem is that on your first character, collecting raw materials for even ONE craft to keep up with your character level is going to be difficult, much less 2 crafts. The main issue is quantity of materials AND access to them in terms of your characters current level (what you would CRAFT to be used by that character).

My suggestion on a first character depends on if you have access to additional funds (gold). If you purchase some gems (to turn to gold), you can buy the needed materials from the TP to craft as you wish, but I would not suggest this from an economic point of view. I would think that a lot of the gaming experience is “tainted” by having access to large sums of gold from the start, but that’s just my opinion.

If you simply gather at every node you see and use equipment as you find it (while actively trying to conserve your gold and karma), you will survive well enough. Keep in mind that ANY equipment you gain prior to LVL 80 Exotics will eventually be tossed aside at some point. Spending lots of gold (or RL $ turned to gold) to outfit yourself while leveling is pretty much wasted.

I’m not saying to ignore crafting if you want to outfit your characters, but doing so on your FIRST character is either expensive or frustrating.

It’s probably best to wait until you’ve obtained a lot of charges as you will typically replace your armor every 5 levels.

I agree that you shouldn’t waste trans charges while leveling up, but replacing all your armor every 5 levels is a horrific waste. Keep in mind that all equipment you obtain before 80 is just stuff you will eventually leave by the road at some point.

I craft a new set when I hit the Masterwork/Rare levels (20, 35, 50, 65) but a new player may not have that option (lack of materials & required crafting level). Between those, take a good look at all green or better drops and use what you find.

Avoid spending karma or gold on new equipment as just as good or better stuff can be found in drops. The exception to that rule is jewelry and Cultural Karma weapons you can get at LVL 40 and 60.

You guys need to do some research on what FULL actually means in terms of server populations……

Until someone LEAVES BG or Anet opens up the caps, it will REMAIN FULL.

The most shards I ever got at any one time was standing below the Aetherblade JP waiting for a Portal from a Guildy (that was “struggling”) and killing all the enemies that spawned nearby for about 30 – 45 minutes. Think I got about 25 shards in that time.

Just my 2 coppers (I’m not farming them, so there can certainly be better returns).

LA IS being rebuilt but the “broken” WPs are not really connected to that at all. LA’s rebuilding process reminds me of driving past lots of road construction work….1 guy on a dozer and 15 guys with shovels making sure the concrete barrier doesn’t accidentally tip over (by leaning against it).

There is a difference between a champ and Group Champ. Would love to watch somebody solo the Giant in Ascalon…..not even you could do that.

You need to read the wiki article on Champions. Yes Champions that spawn at the end of an Event Chain are often more powerful but all of them scale up (both BOON, HP and ATTACK wise) based on the number of nearby players.

I in no way implied that I had any special battle talents in this area (but I have soloed my share of Champs). I’d rank myself as a C+ to B+ combatant, but defeating a Champ solo is more about know their patterns, proper timing to avoid damage an being able to keep them from resetting (by either luring them too far away from their spawn or them “timing out”). Nothing sucks worse than getting a Champ down to a sliver of health and then have them turn their back on you and slowly wander back to their spawn point while regenerating all their HP…..

I’m not sure what “Giant in Ascalon” you are talking about. The only true Giant Champ I can recall is Kol Skullsmasher in Harathi….He’s very tough (I’ve never soloed him, but there are numerous Youtube videos showing it being done).

I actually think they will be more like Engineers. You put the Hero to Channel on your skill bar and activating it changes to that Hero “kit” (like weapon kits).

If it ends up being like Elementalist then the class will be limited to channeling 4 Heroes total (and that will be a MAJOR disappointment for me).

If you put a brief explanation in the mail as to the reason the gold is being sent, that will at least give you some proof if it DOES trigger something that is reviewed for action. Nobody here can tell you what triggers a ban but adding the note in the mail can’t hurt.

If you can log in here, there is no reason you cannot log in the game.

Keep in mind the game client asks for ACCOUNT NAME but that is really the email address you used when registering. Lots of players put in their DISPLAY NAME (the one at the left of your posts in this forum) and that is wrong.

Use the same credentials you log in HERE for the game client.

Those of you not getting responses should check your junk mail folders. You should have gotten an automated response to your ticket submission (with your ticket #) minutes after submission. If you did NOT, then there is some sort of communications issue between Anet Support and your email provider (or all the responses are in your junk mail folder or somehow being blocked by your email provider).

While the idea is certainly something all players would want, creating 66 new armors is not a trivial project in terms of development resources.

It’s kind of naive and narrow-minded to only look at this idea the player perspective and ignore how much work it would be to actually do it.

I guess should have put the word RUDE in quotes to properly convey my opinion on the statement….I simply mentioned it as a new player should be aware that other players may take exception to having “their Champs being poached” (again….not saying I agree with them, but that doesn’t change how some players can react when it happens).

Personally, I feel killing a Champ out of the Train order is in no way a violation of any rules of conduct but doing so with the specific intent to PO 20+ other players just might be…..(tho it is amusing and slightly sad to see map chat when this happens).

Top tip, if a champ appears and the event is a group event…..advertise it to the map or you won’t be able to complete it, those champs are designed to be much tougher than ordinary ones.

Soloing Champs is often a challenge of combat longevity, but 2 players should NOT have any insurmountable issues taking one out. If they do, they should seriously question their builds, current equipment and skill level. Certainly newer players may find it difficult but they CAN be soloed (but per above, it may take a while).

This an absurd statement. The fact that it IS as easy to obtain as those items is the problem, not an excuse so they can be used to be disruptive to other trying to play the game.

That makes sense for the OP, but I have seen this type of comment from other players that do not appear to be recalling some time when the game was almost overpopulated.

Yeah i get your point and I might have come down on you a bit hard but this game IS an MMO so you really shouldn’t expect the content to be geared for solo play beyond open world PvE. That was my point (and I made it poorly).

Sorry if you took my comments as calling you stupid, but the story modes are most certainly designed for cooperative group play or you wouldn’t be able to group with 4 others to do it. Sure it CAN be done solo but it is much easier to not force yourself to do it that way.

I 100% get your desire to NOT to party up with a Pick Up Group (certainly can leave a bad taste in your mouth) and I also get that your disabilities may cause issues in that area as well. Sorry I ruffled your feathers and wasn’t more helpful.
