The cheapest he can get those runes is about 70g.
He needs something to wear until he earns that money.
Missed the part about him wanting Rabid.
If he has enough karma (252k), then the Lyssa armor is a valid choice, but he can’t salvage that either.
His only other option is WvW or buying the Rabid insignia (about 12g) and crafting it himself or buying the crafted armor. Wait…just looked that up.
HOW is the crafted armor that cheap when the Rabid insignia cost 1.7 ea? How are those getting crafted and listed on the TP at ALL?

If you only do PvP there are over 200 SPs out in the world zones waiting for you….
Not to rain on your parade, but worrying about what you are running at LVL 21 is a waste of brain power. Yes, POWER is the name of the game until you hit LVL 40-50 at least….then worry about it.
I guess my point is, EVERY piece of equipment you get prior to LVL 80 will be useless to you sooner than you realize. Some tips:
The first 5 on this page: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Explorer
Note that these are related to uncovering map AREAS as you explore and is associated with the WHITE TEXT shown on the world map. This one gets you ACCOUNT wide Achievement points (the fact that you only get the chievo credit the fist time you uncover an area can make this one confusing to complete if you run a lot of alts).
MAP COMPLETION is related to clearing the maps of all Points of Interest, Waypoints, Skill Point challenges and Vistas. This is the one related to the WORLD COMPLETION needed for Legendary Weapons and the, “Been there, Done that”, title. Each character can do WORLD COMPLETION and get the 2 gifts of Exploration (for Legendary Weapons).
It’s a cheap excuse for a “does not equal” sign.
No..it actually MEANS “not equal” to in some programming languages..
But what would be cheaper if they were going for Zerker gear?
Yeah, the WvW badge set….
If they have limited gold, they are not going to put an expensive set of Runes on it anyway.
While those of us that have been playing for years have plenty of Karma to spend on a temple set, 225K karma is not easy to get these days.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Just an off-hand for the second set will do.
You do not get a new set of cooldowns if the 2nd set has the same weapon (even if it is actually a different one).
If you want to pick up some easy levels, go to each City and clear it just takes some time (about 15-30 min per city):
I think I started this at near LVL 3 and was LVL 11 when I got thru clearing all the cities. You also get some gold and a Transmutation charge for each clearing.
I’ve been getting them in just about every jewelry box I purchase from the karma merchant outside of fort trinity.
Or you can just buy them with Karma from the Balth Temple guy in Straits of Devistation (when Pact has the Temple). That used to be about the only way to get them.
Kind of depends on how much Karma you have collected (I currently have about 750K).
The 2 main reasons there is no Player 2 Player trading.
1 is a Support reduction reason and 2 is a game economy one.
The only time I have ever seen a player be a “victim” to the TP trade only system is if a very new player gets their hands on an extremely valuable item and they do not have the funds to list it on the TP and sell it. I doubt that happens very often, but I’m sure it does happen from time to time.

Sorry but until they do something to make half the tags up not a bad joke, they shouldn’t do a THING with commander tags….
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
It’s ok but I prefer my Flaming Dragon Sword.
+1…..love the GW1 look and the fact that it cost me nothing to apply (besides playing GW1 back in the day). It also makes dark areas a breeze….
So 5 days for the best weapon in the game is outrageous to the OP?
You do realize that prior to Ascended gear, you had to craft a Legendary and I’m guessing that took MUCH longer than 5 days to obtain (sans plunking down the cash to buy the thing off the TP…..(which the idea that you can do that seems outrageous to me)).
If you roll 100 – 20 sided die, what are the odds you will roll a 2000?
If you think the odds are better after the 10,000 roll than the first roll, I have found your problem with this entire thread.
Yes, it is more LIKELY you will get 2000 after 10,000 rolls than a single roll, but the number of rolls has NO bearing on the actual odds of each roll.
This is the basic concept of RNG that most players just do not grasp.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
You cannot apply the term “gear treadmill” to a small segment of the game that already requires special gear to participate in it…(Fractals is a gear treadmill by default).
There are far too many players in this game that have a twisted sense of what is “mandatory”. Just because you want a specific reward dose NOT make it mandatory.. You have CHOSEN to pursue a goal or play a part of the game that DOES contain some grinding to accomplish….but that is YOUR choice. Anet has just provided you that option, not FORCED you to engage in that activity. If you don’t like the activity, do not participate….quite simple.
You do understand that how long you have been logged into the game has no bearing on getting a Pre drop, right?
2238 hours – no Precursor.
I just re-read your original post and see no “jest” in your claim that you have spent a lot of funds on the game. Why even go into the detail you did if you seriously don’t think the info should get you some special treatment?
All that aside, I don’t disagree that if you have been waiting for 4 weeks for Support, that is too long. Have you posted in the 7 days old support thread?
I seriously think the issue is that they had NO idea how much response they would get from the on-sale accounts and HoT announcement would get them this much influx of new and returning players and they likely still had the same sized Support staff available. Hopefully they are catching up by now.
The game does stress a CPU quite highly, but any overheating issues is ABSOLUTELY a hardware design / configuration issue. A CPU should be able to run at 100% utilization indefinitely or the cooling in the system is simply insufficient for that configuration.
This entire game is RNG.
True. But it is not an even playing field.
For the umpteenth time….PROVE your unfounded belief in some hidden account based luck property or quite attempting to have serious conversations about changing something that is a figment of your imagination.
So go verify and then rant at the sky from you soapbox (do you need a trenchcoat to fully play the role?).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
All of these people getting “upset” are doing so prematurely. There will be plenty of time for wailing and gnashing of teeth when we get some more specifics.
Try using quick casting with range indicators. That way, the skill casts when you release the key for it while still letting you aim.
This. When they introduced this feature (you can pick from 3 ranged attack options), I found that this one corrected the problem the OP is mentioning.
Note that you can cancel the skill use while still holding the button down by pressing ANOTHER skill button or ESC.
I’ve done Claw dozens of times and can say only one or 2 instances of 3 Fears in a row…..it does not happen that often.
…and learn to use # 5 Charzooka skill (blocks fear effect).
Where have they said that old precursors will even be obtainable via the new method? (I might have missed that).
If they haven’t specifically stated that, keep in mind that your “valid argument” may be factor in whether or not they include old precursors in the new method….just to make your “argument” a moot point.

I have no idea what the OP is on about….I solo almost all of my playtime and only party up for World Bosses (in case I get DCed).
I guess I’ve been screwed for the last 2.5 years and just don’t know it.

I in no way implied that Customer Service should not be a priority, just that the priority is what ticket gets issued first, not that you (or I) or any other player would get priority due to actually spending money in the gem store. It does not (and should not) work like that.
The accuracy of the visible reports has always been questionable. Bottom line, until someone from Dragonbrand TRANSFER to another server, she can never transfer in. (or unless Anet expands the max server allowances).
You are missing the point that another seller may want their money NOW and not wait for (now 2) players to be willing to pay 10s. If they see your 5 silver sitting there for the taking (SELL INSTANTLY) they get 5s now.
If you offer a good enough price on the buy order, the impatient seller is more likely to take it rather than place a sell order and WAIT for more return.
A smart TPer always places buy and sell orders and waits for the profit.
The ONLY SURE way is to get your crafting up to 500 and make it yourself.
Hopefully you are not needing LIGHT Ascended armor…..
LVL 11 Fractals and above can give Ascended chests as rewards (apparently better odds than normal LVL 80 play…how much better depends on the Fractal LVL).
I suggest you take a close look at the stat improvements between Ascended and Exotic armor and then at your financial standings….Ascended armor is high dollar and has questionable improvements over Exotics.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
You should have tons of WvW badges so buy it with those. Note that you can NOT salvage that gear so expensive Runes are going to be a LONG term commitment.
You can sell them (but won’t get much return).
I usually give mine to guildies I know are leveling characters that could use them or just salvage them (with BL Kits for max Ecto / Dark Matter return). Per above, you may get some Ori back….or Ancient wood depending on the weapon.
A third option is tossing 4 at a time in the Forge. You could get (extremely) lucky and get a precursor of possibly a named exotic (that you CAN sell for some decent gold).
For a power build Ferocity is very important since it is a multiplier.
It only multiplies if a CRIT occurs and power has no relation to that chance.
Are you maybe meaning a Zerker build (or possibly Assassin) rather than Power build?
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I agree with the OP that I have never been able to make it work reliably, so I simply don’t use it. I can turn 180 just fine with the mouse buttons only. If you are trying to turn with the keyboard….well, I think I found the root of your movement problem.
Torment and Confusion are not useless in PvE. They are certainly not the preferred source of damage for dungeons / fractals, but despite your implication, those game modes are NOT the entirety of PvE. Both conditions and Mesmer stacking of them have been buffed recently but a Mesmer will never be a huge direct damage dealer.
Cycles every 28 days you log in.
EotM is certainly more rewarding and faster IF you get with a good Commander AND know what you are doing (per above…you shouldn’t do this with your first (or even 2nd) character).
Hearts can get you good XP, but map clearing (that includes Hearts) while “yellow edge farming” can get you more and does not entail even semi-organized interaction with other players…..you can do it at your own pace.
I don’t disagree that the system needs to be tweaked. Currently you can die quite a few times with NO penalty at all (and with no repair cost on the back end).
I tend to think damaged armor should loose some effectiveness (either reduction in armor, stats or both). GW1’s death penalty system was very good at being both punishing and self-healing in my opinion. Not saying it would work untouched in a the current GW2 system but something similar.
Now the reality of the current status is that Anet wants the game,“’accessible to casual players”, so the move has been to make in-game death have no real consequences (beyond making you a corpse). I think their major issue with the system was that it “unfairly” punished bad player tactics (note that I don’t agree that it’s unfair). Despite how you feel about this issue, bad players also spend money on gems, so Anet has to view this from more than a, “if you suck, or are careless, it should hurt you in some way”, train of thought.
I’m not a fan of making it ok to be dead all the time, but that seems to be the direction they want to take the death system and if that is actually what they want, I don’t disagree that having the current armor damage / destroy / repair system is a waste of time.

OPs recipe is FAR to simple for a Legendary item….
I do like the idea of Legendary trinkets, but I’m not sure they should be crafted (maybe MF ingredients need 500 Jewelry to craft).
I don’t disagree it is a stupid item. I will refrain from voicing my opinion on those that purchased it…..
I’m guessing the OP never played the game prior to Heroes being introduced.
Until Heroes were put in (so you could build your own HEALBOTS), a healer/protection class was absolutely needed in many missions (especially if you were going for MASTER).
The fact that I NEVER have to think about begging for a Healer/Prot class in chat makes GW2 WORLDS better. I can actually PLAY the game rather than wait for a party (that may just suck if the player is not up to it). Heroes were brain dead, but they were good at using the skills I gave them….
You know some people actually enjoy leveling characters, right?
All while missing out on the new expansion that is for level 80’s. They will all insta level
I can certainly enjoy the new expansion content with my existing 9 LVL 80s while enjoying leveling my new Revenant. Your logic is flawed.
With all the free content we have gotten over the past 2.5 years, I’m just amazed that some people are still trying to make this an, “Anet is nickle and diming me!!!!”, issue.
If you don’t think the new content (when we really know what it is) does not meet your standards for cost, don’t buy it. It’s very simple.

I suggest you open a ticket as there is no guarantee anyone from Anet will respond to this thread.
Just to point out that how much money you have spent in the Gem store should have NO bearing on your Customer Support response times. The idea that how much you have spent there matters is something you have created in your own mind.
Is it possible your email is hacked and the hacker is deleting the responses? It happened to me (and I’m a 30 year veteran of PC support).
You can’t unlock your first utility skill SLOT until LVL 13 (per the wiki). I think if you HOVER over the slot, it will TELL you you can’t use it yet (and maybe when you can?).
I’m guessing you may not be able to change your default healing skill until then (or it is some other level unlock….can’t find that info on the wiki).
Just when Magic Find came out there were already multiple guides suggesting the exact same thing…. So don’t worry about your ecto-prices.
I’m pretty sure when MF first became a thing, you couldn’t salvage Ectos.
Ectos became salvageable for a variety of reasons later (and one of them was an alternate method to boost MF). I’m unsure of the dates, but I’m POSITIVE you couldn’t salvage Ectos for quite a while after MF became an account wide stat.
But you are correct that this method has been out in the wild for a long time and was not a secret so I wouldn’t worry to much about this post and Ecto prices.
Ectos were made salvageable into Crystalline Dust to relieve the lack of supply caused by the patch that fixed the Lyssa farm nearly 2 years back. It had nothing to do with Magic Find.
Just looked it up.
Ecto salvage was introduced in June 2013 to help with Ecto and Dust prices.
MF was introduced in Sep 2013
(so you were right in one respect)
However, Ectos did NOT generate luck essence when salvaged util some time afterward (to give an additional source for Luck), so that was where my confusion came from.

No.
15char…..
Kill red things.
Don’t die.
If you are looking for pure DPS, it’s quite important.
If you are wanting to maximize crits for triggering traits, then not as much.
As stated above, if you are pursuing Berserker meta, it’s built in.
While I’m not 100% sure, I do not think GW2 uses any P2P type technology during play or when updating the game.
It really depends heavily on how the IT Dept. is detecting P2P and blocking it.
