That sounds like an order of magnitude outside the numbers even players complaining about the method reported in the past. I can only conclude you were either doing something VERY wrong or material prices (Ectos or Dust) have drastically changed in the past several months.

Be sure you want to do that with a time gated currency.

If you fully clear all the cities and all 1-15 zones you should be about LVL 30-35. Possibly closer to 40 if you use XP Boosters (Birthday, Improved, etc.) full time.

OP is asking for the overpowered class of the month……Ranger does fit that bill (right now).

I get the OP intends this to be a jab at the Devs, but in all honesty, being able to take a break and come back later is exactly the reason I play GW2 over other sub-fee MMOs.

BTW, I’m on a break now myself (and I consider it a good thing).

They are putting them out fast and furious during this downtime in the LS2 season, but keep in mind that Anet only has 2 sources of income to keep the servers powered up:

1. New game sales (the reason for MUCH of the more recent changes to new character development).
2. RL money gem sales (the reason for gem store items).

Call it a money grab if you want, but without these sources of income, the game would not exist. You may not like the realities of GW2s economic system, but it is what it is.

Are you sure you haven’t already discovered it? Check your list for Assassin’s Pearl Torch (it’s a very common mistake for players to forget they discovered a recipe in the past. Note that the recipes were reset well over a year ago (when Ascended Weapon crafting was first released).

The fact that you think you should be able to “tank a lot of damage” is your first mistake.

Warriors can be built to take “more” damage than the average class, but there is NO build in this game that allows for sustained damage “tanking”….simply does not exist.

You can build a warrior that may survive 3 to 5 BIG hits (where a glass cannon will go down in 2), but that Warrior will have to make HUGE damage sacrifices and will be lacking in the overall contribution to any nearby groups DPS.

Being able to survive 2 more defensive mistakes and not making good contributions to killing the enemy does NOT constitute a desirable team mate…..

Salvaging Ectos is generally considered the LEAST expensive way to BOOST MF %.

Whether or not you loose or make money depends on the current prices of Ectos and Dust and how good you are at playing the TP to get the best possible buy and sell order prices.

Quite unlikely you can make money while boosting MF % in the long run.

Any system that overheats has hardware issues. Software can certainly stress a system to that point, but the software is NOT the root cause of the failure.

With that out of the way (per above), we need specs of your system to help.

Are you suggesting that your email account and the password you used on that email account has NEVER be use elsewhere on the internet? The don’t NEED your GW2 password if they can get into your email…..they just request a change of password.

Your reply also does not make any connection with you getting a “good drop”. Your implication is that someone either has hacked Anet to the point that they KNOW when good drops happen (and thus target those accounts for hacks) or someone inside Anet is monitoring good drops and is passing the information to hackers. Both suggestions are FULL-TILT tin-foil hat conspiracy theories of Legendary proportion.

Your argument that your email address does not show in game or in the forums actually supports the theory that it was gotten from another source…..not that it was either supplied by Anet or hacked from Anet.

I think the entire point of this is to limit specific skins available numbers and your suggestion removes that control. I am not advocating either plan, just pointing out that you may be missing the point of WHY they are doing it like they are.

I think the real answer is YES, it is bannable (more than one action), but I’m not sure how they would know without some VERY detailed analysis of your button presses (that I’m fairly sure Anet could do if they wanted to waste that time to do so).

I doubt it will ever be an issue, but if it becomes one, you’ll know why.

BTW, you likely increased your chances of being banned for this by many orders of magnitude because you posted this question here. Just saying….

I’ve seen this report over at the Tech Support forum. It’s possible they have altered this option being available based on some hardware spec in your system? (or it’s just a bug).

Didn’t see it was a laptop either.

You may be able to re-seat the memory without voiding any warranty, but a power issue is either the power adapter or something you have no way of replacing (on motherboard) easily.

Have you checked any forums at the manufacturers site to see if anyone else is reporting this reset issue? I’d check that closely before contacting the manufacturer (if it’s a KNOWN issue with multiple reports, that usually gives you some additional leverage in getting it resolved).

Here are a few suggestions that would shore up security (free advice):

• Set up a new account (do not use an existing one you have used for other activitiy on the internet).
• Make sure the new account has 2 party authentication and enable it.
• Set up a proxy email address on this new account and use THAT for the GW2 login / contact.

I got a precursor dropped and within 20 mins i got the exact same email, sent ticket to anet and they told me my account details we used on some other site or game and thats how they got it, however all my names etc on gw are unique therefore could only have come from GW, but anet declined to even check my fake email even though I gave them both the correct email address this fake email came from as well as the IP it came from…

Exactly HOW do you connect getting a windfall drop to ANet being somehow involved in this scam?

Why would Anet care to investigate the source of an email that has been spammed to thousands of players (and non-players) from a source that nobody can even begin to take any action against (simply outside of any type of internet legal jurisdiction)?

When you see anyone in chat showing off a stack of Iron Ore or Butter, they are mistakenly using Ctrl to split…..

I think it’s worth seeing the LS season 2 thru to the end but we’ll see after that. I have been playing daily since the end of LS 1, but hung up my Daily habit a few weeks ago as I feel it’s time for a break.

The great thing about GW2 is that you can take a break and come back without any huge losses.

Just wanted to add that I will NEVER buy an outfit, but have purchased several armor sets. I have no desire to look like everyone else in the game so my purchasing habits will NOT change.

If you want my Gems, make more armor sets (that are decent).

Using T5 RARE JEWEL generates stat numbers that are slightly superior to any other EXOTIC back item you can buy.

• Complaint about Heavy Moldy Bags being hard to get is non-issue….they are not.
• Complaint about Giant Eye being very rare from these bags is valid, but they ARE a RARE material and should not be falling out of the sky – Semi-issue, but not overly unreasonable.
• Non-Legendary item requiring 250 Giant Eyes to make is VERY unreasonable…..complaint on this is 100% valid, IMO.

I suspect that the original release plan was that Giant Eyes would have another source and that source is bugged in some way and has never been corrected. Similar to the way the Copper > Silver Doubloon promotion recipe has been bugged since release (and has never been fixed). THAT bug, however, only effects a true Legendary item from being generated, and thus is “less” unreasonable.

System total reboots are usually 99% an intermittent hardware failure of some sort. Likely candidates for this are:

1. Power Supply (can be defective or not enough power output on specific voltage for some system component….usually video card).
2. Memory failure. Could be overheating or simply a bad DIMM. ALSO may be not well seated (so reset all the DIMMS just to discount this). Note that very few memory tests will 100% identify a bad DIMM (that is intermittent), so any one memory test (or even different ones) cannot always identify a bad memory stick.

A few things I would suggest:

• Re-seat all DIMMS and Expansion cards (just to make sure they are not well seated. Especially if this system was shipped to your location….could just be something loose).
• Remove 2 DIMMS and run some testing. Then swap the DIMMS and retest. You can often identify a defective set by this method that memory tests will not identify.
• Replace the power supply with a KNOWN good one and retest. (Not something most people can do easily). You may contact MSI and see if they are willing to send you a replacement PS if you feel capable of replacing it yourself (I have no idea what their policies are).

The search in the TP has always been a simple text search. There ARE no items that have the word “dyes” in them…..(all are singular….something dye).

OPs claim of “exclusive” has no basis in fact. Show any claim from Anet that these items were EVER implied to NEVER be made available again for this post to hold ANY water.

Something to tip us off to the Salvage-ability of an item WOULD be a nice QoL change…..

Just to play the Devil’s advocate (I don’t dislike the idea of Account bound recipes), what about the tens of thousands of Karma I have spent on multiple crafting recipes? Right now it’s been well spent, but if this happens I have no recourse but to consider it completely wasted (not that it’s the first time I have “wasted” karma…..). The obvious request would be for a refund (yeah, I know that’s not going to happen, but SOMEONE is going to make the “demand”).

Glad I could help, but I suggest you change up weapon sets to avoid becoming bored with any specific play-style. Just my 2 coppers.

Note that while Sword / Pistol works well in PvE, Pistol Whip is a massive animation telegraph and will be avoided by any decent human player. You can still use it at the right times, you just can’t spam it and expect it to work on a player like it can on grouped up mob or Vet in PvE.

Sorry, but you are make a HUGE deal out of something that isn’t really that difficult. I’ve done it on 2 characters and play very little WvW. It may take a few weeks, but if you researched making a Legendary at all you should have KNOWN this was a requirement and been taking a few minutes since starting to check the WvW maps and pick up what was needed as it became open.

If you think of this as less of Anet FORCING you to play WvW and more as a personal challenge to successfully navigate a hostile environment to obtain your Legendary, the experience is quite different than the agony you portray in your post.

The other option is to ask for some help (OH NOES!!!).

I’m sure there are those farming the Event failures that keep their disdain for those completing the events off map chat and that’s very mature of them. Check to see if a BIOS setting may be limiting your cores in some way.

If the game code had a memory leak, EVERY player would be having these issues. A memory leak in code is NOT machine dependent…..all clients would have the bad code and all players would see the “symptom” you are reporting…..we are NOT seeing it so it is NOT a client code based memory leak.

Your assumption is simply wrong, so quit trying to defend it and look for a REAL solution to your problem (we would be happy to help with THAT).

You are not alone in being “confused” and non-plussed about the current state of the Trait System. Anet altered it back in April and it’s been questioned by players ever since.

I’m not apposed to the “go earn Traits” rather than buy them philosophy (note that before the change , you had to purchase a book that opened the Tiers and all Traits n that Tier were immediately available for use), but the various tasks required to gain them varies WIDELY in both difficulty and when and where they are available (access).

They have tweaked a few of the most problematic ones, but the entire system just seems (IMO) to be rather poorly done….I ended up just buying the ones I felt I needed for my New Characters.

DX11 would require a FULL re-write of the game engine and would possibly leave MANY existing players (that don’t have DX10 or DX11 hardware) unable to play the game.

Not going to happen on a 2 year old game that depends on lower end hardware support for much of it’s player base.

My question was not about running PUGS but running them for HIGH LEVEL FRACTALS…..a most specific, focused, (and low population) segment of the game.

Anyone that PUGs Dungeon Speed runs or High Level Fractals is going to have a tough time gaining sympathy from the general community….that’s just not a smart use of the LFG system.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying Anet shouldn’t aspire to “fix” the LFG systems so those 2 modes can use it, but as it is now anyone doing so (and not being very smart about it) is likely to run into problems.

The only players that I have heard that hate this new method are those that PUG and Dungeon path runners.

Not saying that they don’t have a valid complaint, but Anet needs to evaluate the size of the “unhappy” segment of the playerbase against those that are ok with the changes.

Your connection is being throttled somewhere in the path to the GW Server. ISPs often throttle data during peak evening hours (to limit bandwidth costs with THEIR providers).

Run TRACERT when you get the lag spikes to find out where and present the reports to your ISP for explanation / correction. Note that many ISPs require a higher tier service to NOT throttle you but some just require that you ASK for it to be removed (they enable it by default).

What video chip is being used? This does simply look like an outdated display card issue to me.

Anet does not monitor names of already generated characters, so any request to change an existing character name is almost surely due to someone reporting the name in game.

I think that DOES constitute someone, “being offended”, by it. (Or just being vindictive toward the particular player if the name is “potentially” offensive).

If she can still access her account with the old email (login) then:

1. The emails are phishing emails / hoaxes.
2. The emails are a mistake and she should contact Support to verify and report the error (if that is what it is).

I’m going to get some popcorn…..

Might I add that a simple comment from John (or any Dev) that states emphatically that there is NO secret LUCK factor tied to any player / account / character anywhere in the code (or ever has been), might help to squash some of the crazyiness I envision showing up in this thread. Just a suggestion.
