Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
Would you please provide info on this “timer” you think the Temples are on? I’m unaware of this actually being the case, but you are correct that if players actively defend the Temple for long periods of time, they will not “fall” and thus the capture Events cannot be started.
Still, most of the capture Events happen fairly regularlly (but I don’t think they are on any strict timer like the World Boss Events).
I’ve never run into this problem on my server Henge of Denravi, we have a happy medium where we draw the event out as long as possible for champs but we always complete the event.
How long ago was that (since there is no PvE Events that are exclusive to ANY Server for about 5 months)? Can you actually be involved in this game and NOT be aware of the Megaserver changes back in April?
Beyond that, this argument is moot as they extended the timer for the Event Failure (as they should have). From what I understand, proper completion of this Event in conjunction with the remaining Champs in FGS allow for decent farming AND not disrupting the normal progressions of other players in the game.
Now were is the next Fail Farm Event going to be?
Tend to agree that todays Dailies took some added effort to obtain. Nothing groundbreaking, but there were fewer PvE only ones available. That’s not a huge deal if it happens every so often…..just saying.
Didn’t notice one of them was to spend 25 badges (saw the WvW and skipped on by as I was in combat when setting them up to view).
Run a TraceRT and see where the lag is happening. It is likely NOT at Anet’s end (but somewhere in your internet routing path). There have been lots of reports of bad routing in both UK and EU in general lately.
Guys, your over analyzing it. The links posted are NOT the links that where in the original email. When you type out the text of a link or paste it in, the forum will turn it in to an actual link. The Op posted the text from the email, which had the text links displayed so they where turned in to the legitimate links above. The ACTUAL links in the email he received did NOT go to the same location as the displayed text so you cannot hover over them, or see the original links on this forum. The forum software created the links in his post, they are not the actual links from the email.
This kind of misunderstanding and confusion is why they ask you remove all links from any phishing emails before posting.
Not to be argumentative, but via the (very good) explanation you gave, it DID take some extensive analysis to detail the process. They WERE incorrectly analyzing the link, however.
No need….Event fail timer was extended.
Press other buttons besides 1 and learn to dodge.
Beyond this, far too specific for this broad topic…..
Unfortunately, I have seen far too many players that seriously cannot meet the above requirements….it’s just sad to watch.
Doesn’t spam knockbacks during group events indicating that they are not just mindlessly mashing keys….
Bear-Bow # 4 hating are we? (I agree).
Your opinion that the request is not unreasonable is just that….your opinion. Others posting here are expressing theirs. You should note that WHEN they do introduce some sort of “guaranteed” method to get you Precursor / Legendary, I would be HIGHLY surprised if they are the existing ones.
But the BiS gear is NOT RNG….it’s also obtainable via crafting (Ascended).
A Legendary is not needed to have a BiS weapon…. It provides visual BLING and is more flexible than Ascended (changeable stats) but not any statistical advantage over Ascended gear.
TC is quite high in the current WvW season (a real chance to win NA), so I wouldn’t think any openings are going to happen until after the WvW season is over.
Unless you are wanting to WvW there is NO reason you must be on TC now that Guild span servers. If you really just want to RP with your friend you can be on virtually any NA server and do so.
BTW, a server is FULL if the number of accounts associated with it are at maximum capacity….it has nothing to do with the current number of players logged into it. An account has to move (or be removed) from the Server for space to become available (and then you have to beat all the other players attempting to transfer to it).
If your only reason you are playing this game is to grind hours, earn gold and toss it in the Flusher for a Precursor, I seriously suggest you re-evaluate WHY you are playing this game at all….and I’m not being sarcastic, mean or demeaning.
YOU are making yourself unhappy, not Anet.
The issue has never been the Champ Bags, but the immature, greedy players that pursue them with a single minded zeal that is fully unwarranted….
If you ignore those players and continue on your way (not concerning yourself with those that make the pursuit of a precursor or other single minded goal their sole reason for playing this game), your experience will be much better.
Making outlandish suggestions like this one (remove Champ Bats) seems to be aimed at “fixing” something that cannot be fixed (humans ability to be inhumane to each other). Quit concerning yourself with trying to police the the nasty map chat grievers and punks and just play the game.

If you can melt a consumer box, it’s either a design flaw issue or a hardware issue with the cooling system. Period.
The idea that you can run a piece of software on any hardware and cause thermal issues and it’s the SOFTWARE’s fault is absurd…..it’s 100% a hardware being improperly cooled issue.
All of the above is assuming a reasonable ambient temp and adequate air flow to meet the manufacture specs.

Just a suggestion….abandon the hacked email and make sure ANY websites (especially retail or financial ones) you used via that email address are changed to a new email.
Note that there is a level where the nodes start to show up on your min-map (but the nodes are there before then….you just have to search for them without the mini map assistance).
If you don’t want to finish the LS then there is currently no way to avoid it pointing at your LS.
You CAN alternate between Living Story and Personal Story in the Journal (and the marker will move between the two locations), but again, there have been reports that doing so will potentially make you lose some progress in the LS event chain (you will just have to redo some of the Events to get back to where you were. This could have been fixed already as I do not know the details.
This may also be complicated by the changes to the PERSONAL Story (where they only unlock specific chapters based on the Character level), but this is unlikely as the LS content is LVL 80 (and lower level characters would not normally activate the LS content until 80 or very near to 80).
I reiterate, that failing an event is not griefing. Period.
In general, I would tend to agree.
In this case, if there are player(s) present that need to advance the event to complete Achievements or LS story, you are incorrect. The harassment that I have seen (from both sides) falls into another category of ToS violations (and THAT is what Anet will take action against).
I will also state that taking the view that this is 100% Anet’s fault is BS…..greedy, immature players are the REAL problem here. But it does fall to Anet to “fix” it.
You need to report this issue via the in-game reporting feature and include screen shots of the verbal abuse. The groups failing the event are not actually breaking any rules, but the verbal abuse is certainly not tolerated by Anet.
Well, Blix is different in a way because it is not tied into the Living Story.
I have to agree with this in terms of which side should have some “rights” to the event. However, there is a difference between needing to actually advance your Living Story and showing up just to be disruptive to a practice you somehow feel the need to oppose (Failing an Event for profit).
Rest assured that when the “Toxicity” and abuse reports start to roll into Anet Support, the fail rewards will be nerfed to “fix” the issue.
For Dredghaunt Cliffs you can just run a circle like in the attached picture.
If you have completet it the mobs mostly are back to full bonus exp
I seriously doubt letting them live for 30 minutes to an hour gets them anywhere close to FULL (and I’m unsure there is a FULL value).
If there is any data on the details of Bonus XP, I’d be interested in seeing it:
Note that if you are also farming other things in the zone, it’s a good idea to rotate a few zones to avoid DR in general. Note that logging OFF a character for ANY period of time does NOT remove DR from them. You must leave the zone and perform some activities in the other zone (usually an Event or 2).
Don’t listen to Silvercyclone. What Vayne says is much more accurate. There are ways you can do the living story achievement – like guesting to different servers or joining a party on a map that isn’t farming the event. Failing the event is not griefing. It is one of two possible outcomes which is allowed by the game.
True, but you shouldn’t have to guest to another Server to continue the Living Story for a character. Those “farming” the event (to fail) should make allowances for those that legitimately need the event to succeed to continue the LS. Now I KNOW there are players that have been showing up to complete the event just to grief the fail farmers, so I get a “conflict” is involved.
Just so the fail farmers know, when Anet gets fed up with the conflict, they will nerf the fail rewards and you guys will need to move on….just like you did from Cursed Shore a month ago. Mass reporting of grievers on both sides will make this happen sooner than later….
THis just reminds me of when I bought two slots a while back… Spent $20 on it, and less than four hours later… 40% sale. I was livid.
They would likely have refunded you some gems if you had submitted a ticket….
You do know that it being a “rare” skin does not really make it at all “prestigious”, right? I get that you want it to remain “rare” and hard to obtain, but make no mistake that I can pull out my CC and slap that skin on a LVL 10 Bronze Greatsword whenever I want.
That “special” feeling you have running around with it is ALL in your head, and there is nothing wrong with that as long as you don’t ACT like you performed some great feat to obtain it.
Buy a Traveler Rune and “move” on….
Just so you ex-WoW players know, typing in the term RAID (no matter WHAT the content actually is) will not be generally accepted well in a non-WoW forum. Make up a new word if you want existing players to not immediately be turned off by your idea….just saying.
….so this DID devolve into a Mount discussion….a dead horse snuck in your house disguised as a marriage counselor still smells the same….(but continues to be flogged).
Yep. And that’s but just one reason why there’s wealth disparity among players.
I call it skill disparity.
I call it spreadsheet envy.
Well, what do you expect form people that let their phone tell them how to navigate their cars?
…or their entire lives….
…… and failed to do enough of my own research.

I agree that there should be full services AT Ft. Trinity. There’s no Bank or BLTP.
However, keep in mind that most players are not aware (or forget to use) of WvW (home Borderland) that can get you FULL services (Bank, BLTP, Merchant, Crafting Stations, etc.) AND return to where you entered WvW from…..FOR FREE.
Linen can still be farmed with Karma. Farm Linen, sell Linen, then use profits to buy Silk.
or promote it to silk (not sure that is anywhere NEAR profitable).
You’re missing the point. They want you to log in, every single day.
This is actually your “reward” for doing so.
.
This….OPs suggestion is bypassing the actual intent of the time-gated mechanics…..to get you to log in EVERY day AND be doing something active (which is more likely to make you do something else and then something else…etc.)
Bonus XP is based on how long the enemy has been present in the zone. Most likely candidates for large XP bonus are Yellow enemies (many players just ignore them) in far, out of the way places and along the edge or corners of zones (where no map completion objects are nearby).
I’d say Timberline Falls and Dredghaunt Cliffs are some of the lesser “traveled” zones. Prior to Dry Top introduction, I would have said Brisban Wildlands was the least traveled, but it seems more popular now (tho, it may have lost popularity since most everyone has Dry Top WPs opened up now). I’ve done some very good leveling up in Fields of Ruin and Iron Marches as well.
Caution when quitting an active living story in the Journal. I’ve seen reports where players were forced to redo the previous chapters when they resumed the LS (after quitting it and doing some normal PS with those characters). Note that this was early on in the LS2 releases, so that could have been a bug Anet has since fixed or the players just might have been relating bad info to me. Also, having to redo the chapters you already did would not be the end of the world (just a potential hassle).
Salvage with BL Kits (if you have a few charges to spare). Ectos + Dark Mater + skins….
I’d seriously like to see the number of these that got DESTROYED right after the minis to wardrobe patch….I nixed 8 of them myself….mostly because I drug them all out (rather than just 1) and then couldn’t put the multiples back into storage.
The only harm I can see in doing this is that at some point in the future, you could use them in a MF recipe (which I DID check before I Destroyed them…..no dice). I abhor issues of taking up bank storage for completely useless reasons. Nobody will ever want to buy one (if they weren’t account bound), so I see absolutely NO advantage to carrying one of these around.

The only other profession besides Ele that even remotely makes sense for Celestial is Engineer. Still even with a Celestial armor set for my Engi, I stick with Zerker weapons…..(maybe an Engi Celestial Shield?)
Absolutely think either Staff or Scepter (if you run an Ele) is the best choice, however.
This was a specific design choice to require ACTIVE targeting (which requires awareness of surroundings) and avoid the TAB+# key attack mechanic of GW1. For all the nostalgic recollections of GW1 around these forums, nobody seems to want to admit that for quite a number of GW1 classes and skill sets, once you closed with a mob, you could dominate them 90% of the time blindfolded with just Tab, 1 Tab 2, Tab 3, Tab 1…..etc. etc.. That is also the reason that Hexes were removed.
While Passive targeting may be great for PvE, it is horrific for any type of PvP play. Now why they changed this and then removed collision detection for enemies (thus removing player positioning / blocking in PvP) is quite questionable and likely the main reason GW2 PvP will never be taken seriously by many competitive gamers.
On a related note, putting some significant effort in to some changes to better identify and locate the on screen targeting cursor WOULD be a greatly appreciate by nearly every player….Cursor is FAR too easy to loose control / sight of during combat.

shakes head, moves along.
Agree….nothing like the irony of exaggerating the word “hype”…..
This IP addressed server could NOT show up for both EU and NA players…..(assuming you are talking about EU players on EU servers and NA players on NA servers….)
Has anyone actually submitted a ticket to Anet Support identifying this Server IP as being problematic? This thread is NOT going to guarantee this gets brought to Anet’s attention properly. In fact, and in game report of this would be more likely to make the proper Anet staff aware sooner.
You may be reaching a bit too high if you expect 60 FPS in a WvW Zerg blob…..not gonna happen (too much CPU overhead and too much Server / Client data being passed back and forth). Certainly nothing wrong with trying to improve your FPS, but you should realize what is possible and what may not be.
Anet here’s an excellent way to prove you really do read and listen to the community.
If you re-open SAB it’ll mean that you care. Not opening it might mean you still care but have a good reason spelled out here in this forum.
Sincerely a more or less satisfied customer in the overall direction and secrecy of the game.
What step number is Bargaining again?
If you kept your character in Southsun farming (and never left the zone with that character) you were likely continually under Diminishing Returns code. You need to rotate zones and do a few events in each one to avoid it. Changing characters does NOT remove DR.
Also, you could do other content that you liked for gold and just BUY the T6 mats as well, there is NO reason to limit yourself to the same activity for days and weeks on end….you are defining your own induced GRIND like that.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Check the sticky thread on this subject at the top of the TECH SUPPORT page (it’s a command line argument that allows FoV adjustment). I think Anet’s official stance is that the use of any utility that gives an advantage is subject to action but I don’t think altering your window size is going to fall into this category.
Are you 100% SURE what you are doing actually effects the game FoV? It sounds to me more like you are simply stretching the display horizontally, not actually seeing a wider view…..

Check your Event Logs right after a failure happens.
Set you Ethernet card TCP/IP settings up for DHCP and retest (I’m unsure why you would have a static IP address anyway).

…… I accept the fact that harassing me is condoned, …..
This is the EXACT opposite of truth. Have you done some screen captures of the harassment (or video) and opened a ticket with Support? If you are truly being harassed, Support will most definitely do something about it.
Your immediate implication that all of this is Anet’s fault is rather questionable to begin with but I don’t see anyone here saying it’s ok for you to be harassed and Anet certainly does NOT condone it.
The more simple solution that trying to alter a system that works fairly well (granted, it’s not perfect) is to PUNISH the person harassing you. Anet WILL do that if you give them the information and a chance.

What did you do with those Strength Runes? Those are worth more than 75g.
( Don’t tell me you put them on Badge purchased armor…? )

The only ones that I consider Functionally “worse” than the other (infinite tools):
I stand corrected as they obviously DID comment on this. The comment (posted above…thanks!) seems to be a lot of double talk without any commitment one way or another, but it IS a comment.
Before going any farther, be aware that WANTING to move to a particular Server does not mean you CAN. Servers that are FULL must have someone LEAVE before you can transfer.
