Might and Vulnerability stacks count as Support, so it’s quite important for good results.
Those things allow enemies to die faster and that is always “good”. It is NOT however NEEDED to complete content in any way.
Quoting Brother Grimm “running proper builds”
They said we wouldn’t have to worry about cookie cutter builds. That’s all there ever is. It’s this build or you’re bad, get out. Really sick of this mentality and the fact that the game requires it.
I assume you are talking about Dungeon running? Despite some player’s belief, the entire game is a 5 person speed run instance. Besides that one nitch of the game, nobody runs “cookie cutter builds” that I’m aware of (maybe if you are doing specific content or Story missions?). If you want to complain about what you are forced to run in Dungeons, that would be better discussed in that forum.
Sure there are accepted “good” builds but outside of Dungeons, nobody really cares if you use them or not. When I say “proper builds” I mean ones that provide some self healing, condition removal and possibly some control or support….thus all of the things the OP lists as part of “the soft trinity”. Nobody is forced to use these things, it’s just generally a good idea to consider them when making a build.
The game doesn’t require “roles” but you kittentainly choose to run one if you want (but it’s less than optimal).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
…….
Not faster. Cheaper! For actual cost! They indeed force me to do some math “spend money on TP or spend money to buy new acc”.
Again, your misuse of the word “force” brings everything you type into question…..
(Seriously….they “forced” you to do math?….wow)
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Per above, unless you are VERY good at avoiding damage (dodging, blocking, kiting, etc.), Please don’t get a full set of Zerker gear so everyone else nearby has to rez you every fight…. On the other hand, DO get very good at avoiding damage (no matter WHAT armor set you eventually choose).
Unless you are running Dungeon speed runs, FULL Zerker gear is NOT required.
Real issue I see is:
I’m not sure a “Soft Trinity” really exists and is just wishful thinking by some players. To be brutally honest, you can make an “effective” build that includes all 3 of them (tho you won’t win any speed clearing records in a Dungeon with it). I think THAT is Anet’s true intention and players wanting to play a dedicated “role” in a party is a fabrication (and not needed).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Any chance we will ever get any information on some details of what determines a zone being flagged for “closure”? I get this is “behind the curtain” information, but it does seem that there is some happy median between overcrowded zones and under populated ones.
SOME form of player choice on what zone you would like to enter (even if it’s just a general population rating) should at least be considered as the current blind force to a new zone is quite jarring and just frustrating for players. I don’t have a solution, but there needs to be some significant “tweaking” to the current method (IMO).
I also find it a bit insulting that Anet continues to avoid any mention of how the entire MegaServer change was in any way influenced by operating costs. Anyone with half a brain is going to believe (right or wrong) that maintaining 200 active zones rather than 2000 active zones cost less money over a certain period of time. Continually pretending that this entire change is solely for player population reasons is (as mentioned before) kind of insulting (and I’ve always been a strong advocate for Anet).

Adding new classes will cause all manner of balance issues and as noted above, there are PLENTY of things the existing classes should be addressed before complicating the game (balance) issues first.
New classes may be interesting, but I don’t think now is the appropriate time.
I feel it’s much more likely they will introduce new weapon sets for the existing classes and possibly new race(s) first.
My list of GW1 necro builds is as follows:
<See image attached below, because the list was too long to copy by hand>
As you might imagine, I am a little bit disappointed by the necro build variety in GW2. I had over 320 saved builds across all professions for GW1, and I only played necromancer, so most other players probably had 10 times that amount.
This is EXACTLLY why GW2 classes and skills were changed (simplified). The amount of resources required to test and balance this massive number of potential builds is beyond the capability of any reasonably sized Dev/QA team. Your example of how GW1 was GREAT for players just PROVES how much of a nightmare it is for a Dev team.
I loved the massive number of potential builds for my Mesmer in GW1, but I realize the vast number of skills and profession combinations makes it nearly impossible to “balance” for the Dev team. It’s easy to call the GW2 design decision “lazy”, but you were only involved on the player side of the “balancing”.
Not every decision can be made on what is best (or more well liked) for(by) the player base….Anet is a business in the end.

The “Account bound on Acquire” status is usually reserved for displaying in an NPCs or other menu prior to you obtaining the item (so you are aware that it will be ACCOUNT BOUND when you obtain it). I’m guessing anything in your inventory that displays that label is actually a display bug of some sort and you should report it in-game.
They’re not forcing you into anything. You are the one who thinks you should be getting that stuff faster.
This.
OPs suggestion that it’s Anet’s fault he seeks an extreme alternative to bypass game mechanics he doesn’t like is absurd….. The use of the term “force” makes the rest of your statements questionable. Make reasonable arguments and you will be treated to reasonable responses…..
The idea that an Ascended (TOP tier) backpack item should be available at any time goes against ALL As ended crafting available in the game. I understand if you don’t like that situation but it’s not a new concept.

Have you ever been Experienced?
(I have….)
Is that the one by the Guild Mission?
The details on DR are not known because they don’t want gold farmers (and potentially high end farming players) to be able to get around them easily as allowing all players to endless farm any specific items (or mobs) is not healthy for the economy.
You can farm, but not infinitely…this is a better solution than just not allowing it at all (IMO).
In my experience, DR kicks in much sooner than 300 mobs…..but it could vary widely (or even have some RNG aspect we don’t know about).
Just keep in mind that in terms of material costs, the Ele Ascended Armor is going to run you 2-3 times more….(unless you have dozens of stacks of Silk lying about).
(sounds like you already figured that out….)
…..
P.S. A small one. I get “connection error detected retrying” whenever i try to open the client. I read on forum this happens whenever anet updates game. Has this still not been fixed and should i just wait it out?
There is NO generic issue related to connection issues and game updates….but there are some players that don’t understand how the internet works and feel more comfortable blaming the Anet Servers for issues on THEIR connection to these servers. If they spent a bit of time trying to solve the actual problem rather than posting disinformation on these forums, we’d all be better off.
There are plenty of players over a the Tech Support forum that would be willing to help you investigate and solve your connection issues.
I’ve never experienced any of those maps being empty…..even before MegaServer. No clue.
I do all 12 Dailies every day, but I’m only doing so to reach the 10k Daily cap sooner rather than later. (I’m currently up to 7.3k, I believe.) As soon as I hit that cap, I’ll be scaling back my Daily hunting to just 5 for the Laurel.
In short, don’t stress about it. There’s a limit to how much the AP hunters can gain from Dailies, and if you’re here for the long term, you’ll likely catch up to us sooner or later.
I’m just curious as to why you think getting to the 10K Daily cap ASAP is important? I get if you are actually TRYING to maximize your AP on a regular basis, but as far as I know, there is no “reward” for reaching the 10K cap…..why hitting it ASAP something you feel the need to pursue?
What does crafting and mounts (or lack thereof) have to do with each other?
You know that other game is still there for you to go play, right?
Please understand that you are allowed to trade outside of the BLTP – but you will not receive replacements for lost items or gold. The same goes for selling dungeon runs. CS will not suspend or terminate you for selling runs. We will, however, take action if you take payment and not fulfill your end of the bargain.
Hello Michael, thanks for starting this thread.
If we are allowed to trade items outside of the BLTP, effectively bypassing Evon’s tax, why do we still (after two years) not have a way to securely trade items, as seen in most other MMOs, a popup window where you can see and double check any items up for trade (including gold). The trade only actually happens once both players confirmed and accepted. There should also be an option to deny incoming trade invites right away, to prevent being harassed.
They don’t WANT you to bypass the 15% fee (for economic reasons) and have no intention of making it easier for player to do so. I have yet to understand why those that continually request a player to player trade feature can’t grasp this concept.
BLTP gets you access to EVERYTHING you could get via player to player trade and is an invaluable gold sink for the entire game. These leaves you with 2 reasons to want a player 2 player trade:
If you want a discount trade with someone you trust, the mail trade is there….use at your own risk (the actual subject of this thread).
While the idea is nice (authentication required), the fact is that 2 party Authentication as implemented by Anet is just another step a hacker has to bypass to compromise an account (unless they have changes some policies recently). It is FAR too easy to get CS to alter your email account info AND disable the Authentication (IMO).
Not saying it would not be better, but if an account with 2 party authentication has it’s email account hacked, it is no better than one with NO authentication at all….
Kynswarden has always been my favorite GS (so definitely LEFT).
Any sword without a proper hilt is quite unrealistic (and dangerous to wield).
How many Dailies should you do?
I generally just at least the 5 for the requirement, for the laurals and coins, anything beyond that is a bonus.
This. If you seriously feel anxiety over this issue, you DO need to seek some professional help….now.
I’m not sure WHO you are playing with or talking to that has made you feel AP actually MEANS anything and is “competitive”? My AP management consists of looking at it when I go into the AP menu and thinking., “…oh, a bit closer to the next chest….interesting.”.

There are a myrid of ways to farm gold and just buy the T6 mats off the TP….farming them directly is much more time consuming (and frustrating).
Just a suggestion.
If you just insist, I suggest you path between the exit of Straits (do an Event) and the far end of Cursed Shore (doing a few events in each zone) and back. Kill EVERY risen you see and gather every node you find (added gold via T5/T6 raw). Keep in mind that Foxfire Clusters still sell fairly well (hit every tree possible). The moldy bags should generate some T6 fines (and raw and rares as well) and you will earn some gold to buy more.
Note that you need to move back and forth between the 3 zones (and do an event or 2 in each) so you don’t incur DR in your farming runs.
Frostgorge works also, but you need to zone out occasionally and do some events to clear DR.
Note that DR is NOT cleared by logging out and logging back in with the same character the next day….you MUST do some events in another zone.

Are you talking about turning with the KEYBOARD KEYS? People still do that?
I certainly haven’t noticed any change in this while mouse turning.
So people who already have a/some level 80 characters should be able to see and interact with all SP & vistas on a completely new level 1 character?
I think you may have to unlock it on the first alt you play and after that all other alts will be unlocked. That’s how I’m reading it.
I’m planning on checking this tonight…..I’ve not started a new Alt since the 9/9 patch (and have a LVL 80 of all professions).
Did you report this via an in-game bug report? I tend to think the system definitely needs “tweaking” and without players reporting this kind of thing, they won’t have the proper data (or volume of happenings) to properly do the changes that are needed.
I’m guessing the majority of yesterdays updates should correct a lot of the OPs original complaints (not all, but a good many….especially the account bound unlock ones).
I would suggest attempting a DAT file repair first.
Look for info on the -repair argument here:

Potential corruption is cause by a download issue does not make the software “garbage”. Tens of thousands of players downloaded the updates with NO issues….software bugs do not happen 0.01% of the time. I’m in no implying that there have never been issues with the client or downloading, but I can never recall it being an issue with Anet’s software (and you are exaggerating when you state all 600 replies are “issues”, and you KNOW it (if you bothered to look a those threads).
You can continue to blame your issues on “garbage” software or attempt to actually fix the problem yourself. Some of us on this board will be happy to help, but the attitude that any issues you are having MUST be due to Anet’s “garbage” software is just invalid and certainly is not going to make anyone WANT to help you.
I would hope this is evident by all the rushes to reply to your original post….
So was this the bug fix (from Monday 15th patch notes)?
….
If anyone can confirm the crafting issue has been resolved, it would be much appreciated (not that it would effect me….I’m just curious).
Afaik it didn’t change the precursor chance
They did, indirectly. Now that you get below-80 weapons, tossing them back into the forge will result in lower chances for precursors, compared to all 80’s.
Yeah….that’s simply FUD info there……as long as the average is above 68 (or something like that) the chance remains the same.

Asc Accessories are cheaper if you get in a Guild and do weekly missions for the commendations. 50 ectos is +20g.
The materials are just one of your tirbulations….what’s your crafting level?
Besides having to farm or buy some wood, I had all the needed materials for my Weapons….the problem was getting all 3 crafting disciplines up to 500….I don’t even want to think about how much that (is) costing me (I’m still working on Artificer…)

Open world leveling seems to be much faster now (at least from my experience last weekend). I was clearing zone in Bloodtide for a few hours and gained about 4 levels (from 67 to 71). I did have a Birthday booster active but I have leveled like that for that characters entire leveling (zone clearing w/ active XP boosters) and it certainly seemed much faster
BTW, it is DEFINATELY worth it to PROMOTE 5 XP boosters (if you have them) in to a single ADVANCED XP boosters if you are leveling.
Also, in open world, you should skirt the edges of the map and find secluded areas players miss and KILL THE YELLOW NEUTRALS! The longer enemies are present in the zone, the higher their bonus XP value. I killed several Moas in Bloodtide that gave me +1500 bonus XP. Not many players know about this and thus the YELLOWS are left alone (only to fall victim to your XP lust….)
From what I have heard, it has been drastically reduced but I have not seen any actual data to support this (All my crafters are above 400 and at LVL 80, so I can’t tell any difference).
If you are EVER considering Ascended gear, you need to start crafting (as it’s the only way to obtain it).
If Exotics are good enough for you (minor statistical reduction), then just buy everything.
speargun = harpoon gun
spear = harpoon
…..
I’m guessing that if the ever ADD an actual land based SPEAR weapon (wishful thinking), they will rename all the underwater weapons with the “harpoon” nomenclature.
Bottom line is that any enemies that are obviously stacking huge conditions on you quickly needs to DIE in a very timely fashion….DEAD enemies can’t hurt you (well at least once those conditions wear off).

OP still hasn’t learned about WvW Borderland.
Most “level” headed review on the subject I’ve seen yet. Thanks for this report.
It should be a setting in the inventory drop down (like bag sorting and rarity colors…).
Only if anyone not tagged up gets a debuff that sets their max hp to 1.
Are you suggesting that “tagging up” when not needed is anything other than obnoxiously annoying to every other serious player in the zone? That would make you part of the actual problem….
Aww, did someone forget to buy the tag whilst it was still 100g ?
No….I bought one….I just don’t see the need to add mine to the 40 other ones on the open world map…..neither should you.
Note that the de-spawning is the result of you Character changing levels as you move about in open world. It would not effect PvP or WvW in any way (level is constant there).
I don’t think anyone wanted a debate on the pros & cons of MM builds….
I’ve seen it reported that one of the Minion Traits (Blood of the Master?) is bugged….don’t use it until they fix it.
Also, the suggestion was that you go with another Necro build until this gets resolved, not never use Minions again (tho there are plenty of valid arguments that you would be better off without them).

Other than some rather extensive updates to the game that you just downloaded…they could be corrupt.
Might want to repair the client on your HD before blaming the SW (as THOUSANDS of players are NOT having this issue).
Llook for -repair argument on this page: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
This entire subject just reeks of entitlement ….nobody owes you anything for not being able to access a FREE to play game.
Absolutely unbelievable that someone actually typed this tin-foil hat nonsense into a browser somewhere….this Forum is always terrifyingly amusing.
…..BUT you guys gotta stop it with the huge focus on the gem store……
Are you under the mistaken impression that the Servers run on moonbeams and Anet is a non-profit organization?
Please grow up.
So, as you’ve probably noticed ANet, a very big part of the community is unhappy
Laughing so hard right now
Do you even know how small the forum community is compared to the entire playerbase? Devs have already said it is minuscule; I would wager less than 2%.
Are there really this many people on here incapable of seeing past their own noses?
Logical fallacy. The majority of people do not voice their opinions. You can not listen to a voice that doesn’t exist. Therefore, you have to listen to those people who express their opinions. These people can be found on the official forums/reddit/popular fansites.
I’m getting tired of the old argument “the forum represents a minority, therefore their opinions are irrelevant”. The forum represents the majority of people who voice their opinions and is therefore not irrelevant.
Nobody ever stated the Forum opinion is irrelevant….just that’s it’s an pinon from less than 2% of the player base. Anet shouldn’t ignore it, but neither should they consider it anything more than a very small percentage slice of everyone that plays their game.
The fallacy here is that you think Anet will knee-jerk react if you and the small disgruntled minority on this Forum yell loud enough….or that they SHOULD react. But you are correct that they should listen….
Wanted to turn my mini-map off in Fields of Ruin Saturday. Lost count at 30 commander tags during a Champ take-down.
God forbid anyone in chat request some take them down…..“I paid good money and am going to use it all the time….” whut?
It was funny for about an hour….put the darn command tag down and step away from the game, sir….
The word “toon” sounds like a pejorative to me because the words I’d free associate with “toon” are pretty much all things I don’t want my character or character’s graphic representation to be in a computer game — funny looking, not serious, comic, etc. If I wanted to play a “toon”, I’d play a game like Wildstar.
….and my point is made….
…..
And what do you base your stastitics on? Or is it just a gut feeling?
Because we’ve actually seen some stastistics on how 1500+ people feel about the new changes. And it was overwhelmingly negative……
That’s just not true. A bit more than 40% said they HATE it. While almost a 30% said a few tweaks would make them good. That is NOT overwhelmingly negative….that’s not even half negative (despite how you want to portray it).
Also, There is no real indication where those players polled came from, but if it’s from these forums, I wouldn’t think it’s at all representative of the overall player base.
