I think anyone with half a brain can realize the button is an advertisement.
Anyone that is vaguely aware of the games economic model should not be surprised by it’s existence, size or placement. Do some players not realize just how necessary it is to the continued operation of the game, or do they just subliminally not want to be reminded of that fact?
Anyone that thinks GW2 is “pay to win” has a twisted notion of what “winning” is and needs to re-evaluate why they are playing the game if they truly believe a Legendary weapon and Ascended armor on every character is why they are playing it (“winning”?)

….. I think perhaps you are placing buy orders..
Everyone has always had to wait for these to fill. I bought something instantly last night and picked it up 10 seconds later when I ran over to the BLTP agent.
I built about 5 of these this weekend.
Sure wish I could do something with the Temple ones I already had but ended up destroying them (RIP to the exotic jewels in them and the Karma I spent).
On a side note, it appears to me like open world leveling has been DRASTICLY sped up.
I cleared about 1/3 of Bloodtide Coast with my son on Saturday and leveled from 66 to 71 (about 2 hours). We did hit Taladia when she started during our clearing, but beyond that it was all Hearts, PoIs, WPs, Vistas and gathering. I had a Birthday booster on, but certainly don’t recall churning out that many levels so quickly before the patch. My son didn’t have a booster on and still leveled 65 to 68.
I could just be imagining it, however.
Now getting gathering tools at a lower level is another issue….
Just buy them at the merchant near the bank in the cities.
I was under the impression (from a report on this forum) that before a certain level, you could not buy many things from the NPC vendors (including gathering tools). I have no verified the report.
I think Wanze meant that all 3 of the ARMOR craft masters sold the runes. Easy to misunderstand when the HEAVY armor crafting is NAMED Armorcrafting.
If the runes are gone from Med and Light armor craft masters, that needs to be reported via in-game reporting system.
Enemies spawned by scaling of Events or spawned with certain Boss level enemies (usually tied to Events) almost never have any drops. They are there to make the fight harder and Anet does not want them “farmed” (or at least that’s the popular belief).
You also need to be aware of HOW you have your ground targeting set up in your settings.
I have mine set up for HOLD targeting, so I have to HOLD #3 to show up the targeting circle and then RELEASE #3 to activate the skill. I’m not extremely familiar with the other 2 settings so I don’t want to confuse you by describing them.
You want to farm the BAGS of loot in those areas.
(or go farm gold and BUY the proper level loot bags off the BLTP).
Another trick (that also requires some farming) is to go for Cotton (either farm or buy bags). Refine the Cotton to Bolts and promote the bolts to Linen (costs skill points to do this). You need to look at the math on the cost of 250 Cotton bolts vs 20-40 Linen Bolts (usual return from promotion). It may not be worth it (unless you have a glut of Cotton already).

All players should learn to use ESC…..(tho it often does not stop attacking quick enough).
/wave
(you’ll be back when they release an Expansion).
How is this well known “leveling” trick at all related to the latest Feature Pack?
Hi necros! Welcome to the world of Rangers!
Our pets sends you a warm welcome
At least you can profit from a dying pet minion and it doesn’t steals your power…
I’ve never had my Ranger Pet not attack (unless you have it set to GUARD state). In addition, Anet has strengthened Pets MULTIPLE times over the course of the game.
Pet’s being less than useful against certain enemies and attacks (AoE) is a generic (and well known) issue and a generic flaw in the Pet mechanic itself….at least Necros can completely avoid this with a build change.

…..
It really does sound dumb.
Only if you take the concept of an CRPG character way more seriously than you should….
If implying your “character” is a “cartoon” upsets you, that would be taking it way too seriously.

I disagree that ALL players hate the new leveling experience. There are certainly aspects of it that are annoying and simply badly done, but I do find several of the changes a nice addition to the game.
Complaints, suggestions and even rants (tastefully done) are acceptable, but don’t make the situation worse (or invalidate your views) by making exaggerated claims based on the hyperbole being displayed by many players on these forums.
It’s an invalid assumption that if 9 out of 10 posts on this forum are negative, then 90% of the actual player base dislike something.
That being said, I too am concerned about the direction some of the changes seem to indicate the game is heading…
I think they are still in your collections tab (storage) and require you to manually take them out and activate them to get them into the wardrobe (at least, that’s what I had to do).
Keep in mind that you CANNOT return them to the collections tab once removed. I pulled out all 10 of my Queen Jenahs and ended up destroying 9 of them (so they wouldn’t require a space in my bank). I have no idea if you can pull out only one from the collection tab at a time (didn’t try it), but if you could, that would still hold the extras indefinitely (I think).
What’s broken about it….it’s a WvW area. Don’t go there if you are not prepared to fight another player. Per above, don’t initiate an attack and you will likely not be attacked.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Who removed the BLTP button? Mine’s still there. You only have to visit the TP to pick your stuff up. You can do everything else from anywhere in the game. (That did not change due to the patch).
Pay to win is NOT the same as Pay for more convenience…..What are you exactly “winning” with more storage?
I will concede that it is unreasonable to expect anyone to play for any extended period of time without adding bag and bank slots, but you do NOT have to buy gems with RL $ to get them.
Also, that is pretty much the ONLY items in the gem store that are “MUST HAVE”….exceptions to the “no paywall” norm.
Or go to WvW instead. It has the benefit of allowing you to return to where you came from as well as having banks, crafting, merchants and the trading post fairly close to each other. And it’s free.
Exactly….and you are one port away from LA if the need arises (tho you loose your FREE return when using it).
I’m surprised that they can’t code it so it remembers the last usage as the default.
I have to say, all the changes are to benefit the casual seller so this change is not surprising (not that I like it).
…..but with the pick you can collect as many as you want.
That’s not quite true…..I farmed Orr this morning for an hour and hit every node I could find and got about a dozen sprockets….I wanted MANY more. It does have a finite drop rate and players have limited time.
….so not a Potato famine but a Green Bean shortage…..gotcha!
Why would you EVER remove them from being able to be purchased?
Pretty basic Marketing ploy…google “limited time offer”.
Why they keep doing it is because it WORKS…..(hell, it works on ME and I’m explaining the semi-scam to YOU).
They are obviously testing out the new “volunteer” move feature with some stricter numbers on closing and rotating maps. I got the Volunteer thing yesterday but have yet to be “kicked”…..are you at least getting a warning in chat (like when they force an update log out)?
Their goal to consolidate lower population maps is in direct conflict with the minipet culling fiasco, so I’m interested to see how they plan to handle this situation.
I’m guessing he’s in Nigeria, but you got the email so I guess YOU are the source…..
The guy making the video has a 100% valid point and has every right to be POed. His leveling experience is certainly “new” and I fail to see how it has been made better (apparently, neither does he).
Intersting…..just assumed the stats would be inferior to the current LVL 80s I have from the Temples….nice info…thanks!
Yeah….asking for suggestions about another game to play in an official game forum might not be the best idea….just saying.
The fist BL key is at the end of LVL 10 PS (same as it has always been….or so I’ve been told). It did NOT change to where it is awarded in China version (which seems quite odd in terms of WHY the changes if it does not fully consolidate the code).
They have removed (or moved) the LVL 30 key (from reports I have seen on these forums). I have no idea if it shows up later or not.
I’m unsure of how you are stating you can convert one to 50-60 silver (I’m guessing the skill points it generates) and then follow that up with 5-6 gold per run (one scroll). The math seems fuzzy to me.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
The interview did NOT say SAB would not be coming back.
It said it didn’t make sense for it to come back during LS2 (as in right now).
Anyway, I thought you guys were "Riot"ing down in Rata Sum? #SABorRiotNOT
With all the things to ask, complain, decry and moan about with this update…THIS is what you come up with?
shakes head and meanders away
I’m neutral on most of them, as the “new player experience” doesn’t apply to me or most of my toons. I could most likely dig up quite a few players who are indifferent and have no intention of quitting in a huff. It doesn’t matter. Anet didn’t make these decisions in a vacuum, and time will tell if they are beneficial to what Anet wants to accomplish as a business. When the game stops being fun, I’ll stop playing. Until then, I won’t. And there are absolutely others who feel the same way I do. Most of them just don’t have the desire to form adversarial relationships in an internet forum.
Ok….will re-phrase:
Show me ONE existing player that has/had any intention of making a new character that now thinks ALL these changes are for the better….just one.
If you are indifferent about the changes, it’s likely because you don’t ever intend on making a new character…..WHY are you in this thread at all?
Also, if you are indifferent, you don’t think it’s worse OR better. I’m unsure why you posted your paragraph if you don’t care about this issue (other than to be argumentative in general).
Just to be clear, I had no thoughts on starting a new character prior to these changes as all mine are beyond the level that most of these changes makes any difference. However, I would certainly take a different view of ever doing so in the future BECAUSE of these changes…..if I’m not alone in that, this change is NOT good for existing players.
I’m not one that believes EVERY change should be “good” for existing players, either. If the change is good for the game as a whole, it should be considered. I fail to see how MANY of these changes in any way makes the overall game “better” (but that is certainly MY opinion and other may not agree).

Trying to craft to your level with ONE character is not going to work out well….
You either need someone to donate materials (another character or player) or you will need gold to buy them from the BLTP. You will not be able to collect enough materials while leveling a single character to craft equipment a the proper level. You can come close with a LOT of material farming, but that will have a tendency to level you more…..making the situation worse.
On your first character, I would suggest going with Jewelry and Cooking (as neither of those items “drop” from enemies). If you plan on more characters, keep some supply of crafting materials for future use or you can sell them with the understanding that you will need to buy materials if you want to craft in the future. That call really depends on how much you need the potential gold NOW.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
From what I have read, the trees are NOT locked out, but just don’t show up on the map until a certain level. Now getting gathering tools at a lower level is another issue….
Have a LVL 50ish toon open all your Champ boxes….most cloth items will salvage Linen.
Those farming Events need to take breaks to do an Event or 2 in other zones to clear DR…loot drops from mobs (even Event spawned) are ABSOLUTELY effected by DR.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Are any of these even LVL 80 items? The ones I see are max 78.
I get this is about the new “leveling experience” but allowing a LVL 80 an option to craft a stat selectable Exotic backpiece is just out of the question? I guess I get that they have always had the backpiece be the “scavenger” hunt PitA item to obtain (something I still don’t fully understand), but how about some options that don’t take 5 times longer to obtain (or are 5x the cost) when the item actually provides the LEAST stats of a any other armor piece?. I’m almost convinced the entire item is some twisted inside joke the Dev’s snicker about on a regular basis.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I have done it less “for fun” as for something to do between doing other things. Breaking up other activities.
I also here everyone talking about “useless boosters”, and don’t understand that. If you convert them to the enhanced ones (that let you pick what booster you want), I fail to see how they are ever “useless”. I can guarantee that having access to near endless gathering boosters makes every harvesting run more profitable….
What would you use the net profit value for ?
To quickly see the difference between what I’m selling the item for and what I can expect back. I get this is NOT a tool major flippers or even those that sell stacks of items regularllly will use, but the casual user of the TP needs to be considered in this deign change as well, right?
All the complaints here are about how the changes (mostly For the casual TP user) are not well suited for the major TP flipper/trader and I get there is a laundry list of things that need to be done to accomidate these high traffic users. Is it so horrific for ONE field to be added for the casual trader?
Jeez, you guys would think we are asking them to plot a multidimensional integral rather than put in a field that subtracts a few numbers and DISPLAYS the results…..
I don’t need the TP to do the full calculation.
But what would be the reason for NOT going the final step in a mile long trek?
…..(MUST be the user not having a good machine or a bad connection etc). …..
Your point is valid, but your inclusion of a totally unrelated issue has no relevance in this discussion. Your connection issues ARE 98% likely to be NOT an Anet caused one (or EVERYONE would be having them).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
This needs to be reported in game (to get it fixed) and this thread needs to be moved to the BUGS forum (so others are aware of it….I’m guessing there is already one about this there).
Thanks for the info.
I have about a dozen starter scrolls that I have no other plans for….can these be burned for quicker access to the BL keys (I get this is not a permanent solution)?
I guess they could have used other wording, but short of GOLD EXCHANGE (that is not very descriptive of what it does) all other options seem just as “obnoxious”…..
To be more exact, you would need some mouse software (driver or some windows utility) that allows this. I think the standard logitech driver lets you change the mouse wheel function….but I’m not sure how it works with GW2.
Your optimism that you could “coordinate” that is admirable….good luck.
This is why you have a main weapon…..it’s not difficult to KNOW when FT might miss….don’t use it then.
If you want Dungeons, definitely Mesmer.
You can do Dungeons on a Thief, you just won’t be as welcomed.
Otherwise, it only matters on how you like to play the game (as they each player quite differently).
I’d say that difference has to do with any Swiftness % increases on Runes or Traits (are there any others)?
128 secs maybe?
Note that with Speedy kits, you can run one kit and swap to the kit and back to your main in a few seconds, then swap to the kit again when Swiftness ends and repeat…..perma-swiftness with one kit….no problem. It is some work work but certainly not Rocket Surgery…..
I tend to think an HONEST opinion from anyone at Anet on EXACTLY how any established player (of any age or mental ability) would react to these “changes” (the prior TRAIT changes from FP1 included) would be quite informative.
There is NO WAY any intelligent person could not see that 90% of existing players are going to look at all these leveling changes in a negative light (and it’s NOT just because they are “different”). Presenting the changes with the banner, “A Fresh Start”, is propaganda and hyperbole at it’s worst.
A simple, “We’re sorry, this was forced on us too.” reply would go a long way for me….
The irony of claiming that any intelligent person would automatically assume 90% of GW2 players will hate this, and then making a reference to “hyperbole at its worst” is lost on you, isn’kitten
Negative is not equal to hate…..I don’t “hate” ALL the changes but some of them are just BAD and overall, I would think anything that makes an existing player NOT want to start an ALT is not GOOD or POSITIVE…..agreed?
Show me ONE existing player that thinks ALL these changes are for the better….just one.

I fully understand this could not happen (if the person wants to keep their job), but the GW2 and Anet Team branding has been irreparably harmed this week….and I like many other here are just sad about it.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
LVL 80 gear will be trash for LVL 80s and generate T5 (small change of T6) if salvaged. Note that ALL your level 80s can obtain these materials easily.
Opening on a LVL 30- 70 character will generate materials that are difficult to obtain and needed for Ascended crafting…. (T2/T3/T4). Just my 2 coppers.
BTW, ….exactly WHEN is the BL key now awarded? (I’ve seen LVL 10 and LVL 20 mentioned but no real details).
