I never use DB like this:

• Dodge at the RIGHT times (Endurance shouldn’t BE low with proper Traits and skill use).
• Actively AVOID mobs when playing Dagger / Dagger. Never let multiple enemies near you.
• Shortbow (learn to swap weapons judiciously). This is a much better option to hurt more than one in a mob than DB.
• Cripple mutliple foes with DD (horrible damage, but can keep you from being mobbed).
• Close with specific foes via Heartseekser (using it as a opening attack is NOT wasting Initiative….it still does decent damage) or Steal.
• Stealth + 1 backstab (bread & butter). Finish off with Heartseeker and auto-attacks.

If you really want to go toe to toe with mobs, Sword / Pistol or Sword / Dagger is a better choice, IMO. I usually go S/P and SB.

The problem with your theory is that NOBODY has ever said the Greatsaw will never be available again (tho I seriously doubt it will). None of the supposed “exclusive” items have never been identified by Anet as NEVER being made available again, so while “making hay” while you can is not a bad theory, you have no reason to be overly upset if you get stuck with an item that ends up being a big financial loss or no longer makes you that “special snowflake” you imagine yourself as.

Per the OPs REAL question, you CANNOT use Portal to reach a place you cannot otherwise travel to and you in fact MUST travel to the location in order to lay down either end.

Portal can help others bypass difficult paths or create shortcuts but NOT the Mesmer generating the Portals.

Unless you are running a Condi Build, you should avoid using Death Blossom unless you are tagging up a mob. Even with a Condi Build you should be sparing on using it….

I often run a Dagger / Dagger build (Crit based) and can’t recall the last time I used DB on purpose….just avoid it.

Can you explain how everyone elses is working and a Temp cache flush fixes it for others if it’s something Anet needs to fix? I have no doubt the recent TP changes caused this issue to pop up, but this issue is more likely due to temp browser caches not getting removed properly on certain player’s systems and the IIS backend changing on the Anet end (and the players systems still looking for the OLD TP pages).

I think your analysis of who needs to fix what is lacking.

Ascended is not needed but the Jewelry is available via various currencies and end game activities, so they should not cost you lots of gold

Ascended weapons are a worthy end game goal (maybe not if you have not crafted at all).

Ascended Armor is very questionable if it is worth the effort and cost for the stat increase, but if you are looking at a single character and have the materials already available (and a gold surplus), it’s a viable (quite expensive) upgrade option.

WvW is less about equipment than it is

1. In balanced face to face meetings, Player skill and knowledge usually win.
2. Numbers usually win in uneven encounters.
3. Surprise attacks can trump the above.

Very few VISTAs require great JP skills. Mine are less than stellar and I have done most of the JPs at least once. I will add that DOING the JP Monthly Chievo DOES improve your skills, so practice is a good idea.

Only really kittenes I can think of are:

• SW Dredgehaunt Cliffs (Dredge scaffolding tower….really not that hard).
• Vizier Tower in Straits of Devastation (a couple of the jumps are kind of tricky)

The rest of the VISTAs are fairly easy once you see them done one or two times (if you need help search the VISTA on YouTube….plenty of videos to watch).

If you craft end items, crafting is mostly unprofitable (but there are exceptions if you know how to research the TP). However, if you craft components and sell THEM it can be VERY profitable (if you know what components to craft).

Most player that make lots of money crafting WANT everyone to think it’s not profitable….thus the popular belief you can’t make money crafting.

You can block someone for any reason you wish. From being an ignorant bigot to just not wanting your chat cluttered with lines of text you cannot understand. Now being rude and obnoxious about blocking someone for a language choice should not be acceptable behavior. (Unfortunately this game is filled with rude and obnoxious players that need to quit typing in chat).

Not being on EU servers I cannot speak directly, but from what I understand, the Megaserver system DOES have servers available for Alternate languages available in the game. I was under the impression Megaserver prioritizes your zone based on your language setting….is this not correct?

They did not say there would be no Grind.

They said you would not be FORCED to do Grind….and you are not. Nothing in this game that requires significant (if any) Grind, is required to continue playing the game.

No….it’s only under-powered when large numbers of players attack the same target. This is a VERY narrow slice of the ACTUAL game….(zerg vs Champ / World Boss).

If you haven’t actually played a character up since the changes, your are making uninformed options of the new system. Period.

I get if you have a bunch of 80s and don’t want to play thru the game again, but they HAVE provided MULTIPLE methods to level without actually playing (Crafting, EotM, Tomes, Scrolls, etc.).

If you want to know WHY they changed the leveling system, it’s to get new players into the game (and yes, more casual players). Pretty simple economic decision (but one I understand veteran Alcoholics may not like).

However, simply complaining about the new system without trying it is simply not fair.

I’ve tested the system in a few ways (not yet tried a full on new character to keep yet) and while I think the Trait acquisition system needs work, the rest of the changes are actually more interesting than getting the unknown and exact same spec buffs each level.

Note that lag situations will often result in what the OP is describing.

Also note that you cannot view a VISTA while in combat (the activate button will appear but the VISTA activation will not trigger).

Thus the OP should NOT log in from a public computer he does not trust.

This is not an issue of GW2 security but of that public computer.

Anet has linked the forum with the in-game account by design and the OPs desire to access the forum from an potentially compromised computer is not a legit reason to change it.

Being hacked 2 times quickly is an indication that they have access to your email account and you are not aware of it. Ditch your old email account if it’s been hacked (if they have your email address, they have half of what they need to get into your account).

You are correct that none of the karma vendor items are worth using….however, the SKINS are worth obtaining from them. (only buy the cheapest Blue ones if Skin collecting). Obi shards and possibly Temple Armor (note you can’t salvage it) are the only high end items that are worth spending Karma on. There are some Exotic Jewelry and backpieces also at the Orr Temple NPCs, but you can now CRAFT better back pieces (stat wise) and Ascended Jewelry makes an Exotic piece that you cannot salvage a waste of karma.

Where exactly are you and what Events are active? I’ve seriously never seen an area (outside a scaled up Event) where 10-20 enemies congregate, much less 20-30 swarming to a single player.

Some guy on the forum posted a pic of multiple bank storage sections filled with stacks of BL chests…..claims he has already made back his money and plans to open all of them himself…..pic looked legit, but Photoshop is powerful drug….

Sell listing never dipped below 17c since this buyout swing started back in late Aug. It’s back up to 45c now. If the guy bought all those below 10c he has or will likely make a LOT of coppers…..

Anet has never indicated they have any interest in making it easy for players to convert any in-game currency to another (sans gold 2 gems & visa versa). Doubt it will happen now.

You seriously think those specs equate to “skill”? Not saying it doesn’t take a specific skill set to run Dungeons fast, but actually believing everyone outside your little 5 man instanced existence is a scrub identifies you as a player all the “scrubs” should avoid (and I’m guessing you are just fine with that idea).

I have not noticed it myself but will pay closer attention…I don’t change skills a whole lot. I also NEVER use tonics, so that may also be a reason.

Run a TraceRT and see where the lag is happening. It is likely NOT at Anet’s end (but somewhere in your internet routing path). There have been lots of reports of bad routing in both UK and EU in general lately.

Because many other players are NOT having these issues. If the issues were on Anet’s end EVERY player would be having these issue (as they were when DDOS attacks were happening).

If 10,000 people are trying to reach a location and a bridge is out blocking 5,000 of them from reaching the location. The 5,000 people not getting there could ASSUME the problem was at the Entrance to the location, but that does not make it true. The BRIDGE needs to be fixed for all 10,000 people to arrive on time at the same place.

Runing TraceRT is like a one way traffic alert App…..it will TELL you where the traffic problem lies. All I’m saying is to quit assuming who’s fault this is and find OUT. Note that if the problem is on the return (from Anet to you) then TraceRT will not find it, so keep that in mind.

EDIT: Note that there obviously IS some issue going on with a certain zones on the Server side as there is a confirmed bug (that Anet has stated they made some changes to fix…no confirmation it has been fixed that I know of). It has to do with specific players logging into Zones and their presence seems to lag the entire zone. I know no details, but this is possibly the cause for some of this (but there is also known issues of router / backbone issues in EU and the UK as well).

First guess is that your HD has developed bad sectors and GW2.EXE is present (or being written) on them.

Run a HD check (that SHOULD mark bad sectors as unusable) and then try the download again?

This is NOT a generic error others are reporting (at least from what I see on this forum).

This really has nothing to do with Fraud, but refusal to pay / charge back policy when Anet is not involved in the CC charge dispute. Note that nearly ALL companies will instantly terminate all business dealings with the Account / CC involved in such cases.

Reversing charges on a CC should be a LAST resort to correct Fraud (or even suspected Fraud) as it damages your credit rating AND any potential financial relationship with the company your are refusing to pay. Granted, if actual FRAUD is proved and pursued, these things will likely be mended, but if it proves to be some sort of mistake, the CC holder pays for it in the long run.

There are a lot of amazing Mesmer players out there that disagree…. Mesmers are not an easy class to play and making them such kind of destroys their uniqueness in the game.

If you want “easy” rewards pick another class. A game were all classes present the same results for the same skill level is going to be uber-boring to play.

Now that’s not to say some tweaking couldn’t be considered, but disabling their stealth and mass mobility capabilities is a rather drastic move just so you can earn rewards as easily as a warrior….

Per above, it has been argued that rather than letting you actually BUY these in the gem store, the advertisement should POINT you to buying them via the unlock tabs in your inventory and storage windows in order to make the purchase. Those don’t show up at all if your maxed (so it could be confusing), but not sure why this matters if you are maxed and can’t buy one anyway.

The fact that you can’t gift these upgrades to other players also supports this change (there is NO reason to buy these via the actual Gem Store page).

Hope OP realizes this is likely one of Anet’s best revenue streams. They NEED RL gem sales to keep the Servers running so you can show off the BL skins.

This method is NOT going to change.

BTW, this forum is NOT official tech support but a forum for players to provide Tech Support assistance to other players. If you want Support from Anet directly, you need to submit a ticket via SERVICES (top right of page) > SUPPORT > Submit a Ticket (top right of SUPPORT page).

Anet employees do post on here occasionally, but usually only if the issue is widespread (effecting MANY players) or of nature that other players cannot assist with first.

At this point, the problem Anet has is that “fixing” it to be what was originally intended will certainly summon a Feces Typhoon of epic proportions…. NPE and SAB will seem like sneezes compared to it.

Please do a video showing you hitting EVERY Ori and Ancient wood node on 1 character in 20 minutes….. I’d be interested to see this process since the introduction of Megaserver. I get you can likely identify all the nodes and maybe even find a tool to reliably help you find them, but I seriously doubt you can actually access all of them in 20 minutes…..

I agree that enough of the T6 materials are available on the maps, I just think you are exaggerating the time it takes to gather all of them.

Note that prior to MegaServer, this was certainly possible (maybe closer to 30 minutes).

I don’t store stuff in my bank unless it’s surplus from my collection storage, so I don’t want this. I can also see where those that have TP plans for stuff in the bank will be for this and everyone else will not.

As I think those that want this will be in the minority (and I could be wrong about that assumption), I doubt it’s a viable change.

Neverwinter has a somewhat similar system that rewards players for logging in every day, but it can get quite frustrating. If you just miss one day (work late, family emergency, what have you) all your benefits just hit the tank. Not a fan of that system.

Not sure of the details of “all our benefits hit the tank”, but that’s not the case in GW2. You miss a few materials, don’t get ONE of each of the refinements and don’t get ONE Laurel. Might push your “schedule” by a day, but nothing huge is “lost”.

I get the suggestion is for the convenience of the players (and I would certainly use it if available), but there is also ONE more thing to remember about Anet NEEDING players in the game.

Sans gem cards (that seem to be harder to find these days….Amazon quit selling them) and new game sales, the ONLY way Anet makes RL revenue is in-game gem purchases. The less time ANY player spends actually in the game is less time any player CAN purchase gems. Nobody can deny that the continued success of the game (and the servers staying on for all of us) requires that players BE IN THE GAME. PERIOD.

You can dislike the economic model all you want, but it is what it is.

Harassment is griefing, on either side. Simply failing the event is not griefing. All the QQ about this is pathetic, TBH. It takes maybe 4 people to succeed the event. People need to stop whining and just go do it if they need it. If you get called names, report those people. It is not rocket science. Srsly.

First, this is a moot point now (mostly thanks to the verbal abuse from BOTH sides).

Second, a single player attempting this event by themselves cannot do it when 30 people have the event scaled up and you know it….(maybe an experienced verteran player could, but not someone new to the game). Not everyone HAS 4 people to group up and succeed the Event despite the attempts to intentionally fail it.

I guess we’ll meet in here again when your fail farm buddies find another Event to exploit, devolved to nasty name calling and it becomes enough of an issue for Anet to need to nerf it…..
