Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
Again…he’s LVL 51 (NOT LVL 60) and has likely never SEEN the Sharper Images trait…..
I’m not saying the advice is bad or wrong, just not applicable to the OPs current situation.
My point was that maybe you guys were talking a bit over the OP’s head and just don’t realize it since you are used to discussing LVL 80 builds in the Mesmer forum.
……. It’s not the precursor I want and the gold isn’t enough to get me the one I want.
…..and you want a Player Trade system so you can scam another player into trading straight up? Nice.
My reason is, I want to sell a spot, and they are taking a spot themselves.
The community is pretty good overall, why are you trying to make the LFG an unfriendly environment? Well, who cares, the instance owner changes will break selling. I wonder if selling LS is a thing? But hey, Anet has the advantage in there, they already have the gemstore.
I think this general attitude is why many players consider the entire process of selling Dungeon Runs as a seedy and undesirable method to earn gold. Whether you do what you stated or not, the fact that you would type this here means you’ve thought about doing it just to earn more profit (I’m not saying you HAVE done it).
I also don’t get your comment about blaming Anet….the change they are making is to IMPROVE the entire Instanced Party system , not intentionally hurt Dungeon Runners.
You taking it personally and using it as an excuse to be hostile to other players is just childish.

While this is good question, where are you trying to transfer to?
Don’t do something rash (like deleting all your characters) for a free transfer, just to find out you are in the hopeless situation of trying to move to a server that is perpetually FULL. Note that server population is NOT a function of how many players are logged onto the game via that Server at any one time, but is based on the TOTAL number of players that are assigned to that Server already. Players logging in and out has NO effect on whether the server is FULL or not.
To transfer successfully to a high-population server the following must happen:
Note that Anet CAN (and has) oppened up max population on some servers but I seriously doubt they will do this with a high population Server (or at least the number of additional available slots will be quite limited). They usually do this during the weeks before a new WvW season (like right now) and accompany this with discounts for transferring to lower population servers (and hiking the prices for transfers to high population ones). I have not seen any announcement of this type of thing lately (but I’m not looking to transfer, either).

Celestial was added well after the original crafting recipes and has always been “special”. I’m not saying the time-gating is still justified, but that’s WHY it is different. Plenty of threads about removing this time gating over at Crafting forum (where this post SHOULD be moved to).
BTW, I believe the time gate was added so that crafting these items would be similar to crafting other items (if you gathered the materials). Getting you hand on 5 vials of Powerful Blood (sans TP purchase) is not a trivial thing. Getting Quartz WAS very trival (or at least WAS during the introduction of it in the Zepherite Sanctum). I’m not saying this logic is good, just how it seemed to be when they were first released.

Keep in mind that rather than this being an issue with Anet servers it could be the ISP flipping over to some form of throttling profile (it is financially advantageous for them to do so during peak hours) and that “profile” has a flaw in the routing table or it is diverting traffic thru a defective piece of network equipment.
That is WHY you would not see these issues in off peak times.
Just a guess, but peak hour throttling is definitely a “thing” among ISPs and internet backbone providers….
Presenting this “evidence” to your ISP may make it suddenly clear up (when they realize you KNOW they are throttling you and either turn it off or fix the problem). Note they will likely either deny the throttling is happening (and yet still correct the problem on the sly) or tell you that your particular service tier gives them every right to throttle your data you and you need to buy a higher teir to not be throttled. ISPs in the US are NOT supposed to do this for consumer internet access, but I think it is ok for EU ISPs to offer different tiers at different costs.
From the consistent reports shown above, my educated guess is that the peak hour routing being used (may not necessarily be a “throttling” attempt) by those ISPs is hitting a bad piece of equipment in some backbone datacenter.
100% pure speculation above.

There is not a single formula for any of the merchants on what level gear they offer and never has been. Some offer the local content level, some offer player level and some offer ALL of it. Salvage kits from Merchants are the same way.
I don’t think this is a bug, but your misunderstanding of how gear level at a merchants has always been varied at different merchants.
From your 2nd post you KNOW the answer to your question (you didn’t cause enough damage to trigger participation in the World Boss event), so why did you post this?
Report me if you want, but you seem to know full WELL why you didn’t get the reward and just seem mad that the game does not work the way you THINK it should. Go do the event the same way again and then a 3rd time and you will define insanity.
There have been reports that several players have already reached it. (Note that there was a LONG period of time where you could get up to 15 points per day).
If you are looking so hard to bash Anet that you identify this button as some sort of money grab and take the time to make a thread about it, maybe you should consider taking a break from the game (or go find another game).
Ok….discussing, then.
The OP states he’s level 51….I’m sure he would appreciate discussion that is relevant to that, not banter about PvP and WvW options…..just saying.
Note that the first 3 listed are, at the very least, on “injured reserved” list if not considered fully “dead”.
Thus the term, “The Six”.
And I meant Sword 2 (not Sword 3)…..sword 3 is good to close a gap to set up sword 2 and set up a shatter after the leap.
Also, you guys are arguing about best DPS builds at LVL 80 when the discussion is about a distinct lack of killing DPS WHILE leveling….sub LVL 80…..
I do see the Scepter Torment change being useful for lower level Memsmers as in PvE, you can use Torment to a huge advantage by simply dodging and kiting a bit.
Not really. I know that you still get jewels, but their drop rate is certainly different with this pick.
Sorry but you “knowing” is only a fact in your own mind….prove it or I call BS.
Congrats on winning the lottery.
Spend your money wisely.
The other guy that posted he got one had less than a quarter of the gold needed to even list the item…..irony at it’s finest!
“It is extremely repetitive! You are doing the same 15 minutes of content a million times, running the same exact route, and everything. It is horribly boring.”
O.o This is exactly what I say about dungeons! I need to make a thread demanding the removal of dungeons!
I will gladly support this effort with all my heart…..meet you in the Dungeon Forum!
Lol what a wise decision my friend. Im glad youre loving being a victim of anet’s greediness
have fun melting your gold reserves
Copper does the same if youre shallow and all you care is the voice haha!
But thanks for the laugh though!
So you TRULY think this item was introduced out of pure GREED by Anet? Seriously? You think that?
If so, why are you still playing this game….go find some indie developer that is doing it all for charity and a cause and play their “amazing” game.
…..
However as the game ages, they became greedier and removed everything to force people into using gems to purchase these items. Its a good strategy to let the players taste the food first before removing it off the menu to make them crave for it.
Either that is their plan the whole time or they suddenly lost their budget and resorted to this method to milk the players and fund the game.
^^ THIS ^^ is the attitude that I fail to understand. If you TRULY think ANet is a bunch of money grubbing profiteers just out to “milk” players of money….WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE!!!! Move on already…..do you think they are going to change (if they are truly EVIL)?
I’m not sure I got the memo that that scaling down feature was ever designed to make “All areas into end-game content”…..where did you guys READ this as how it was suppose to be?
To be honest, I think the reason it’s NOT like this is because they have plans for this kind of “feature” in another form for the future…..(Hardcore mode).
My concern is related to the most important aspect of selling something for me… How much profit will I make. This picture doesn’t seem to show the profit.
That does seem to be a rather large oversight…..tho I never liked the term “profit” for that display value, at least it was there.
Yep, after two years, the trading post will finally be usable. Yay.
nuff said
Gotta say, this is the attitude (and support of said attitude) that this place could use SO much less of….it’s just exhausting to read this constant tripe….
They improve something and what they get is not “thanks!” but “about time!”…..
The only thing in the game that I am aware of that uses browser tech is the BLTP…..nothing at all in the Blog post indicates this would ever be used for anything but that interface (but it’s certainly possible, I guess).

Really? I kill them almost on a daily basis because I want to max the underwater weapon kills. After 30 sharks I always have at least 2 scales. And it’s not like it takes a huge amount of time to kill 30 sharks in that area.
RNG is really the problem .. when i farmed Arctodus i sometimes get 3 T6 mats from
3 mobs and then i can kill 100 and don’t get one. Farming 30 minutes can result in getting
someting like 2-12 T6 .. an hour is mostly 10-20 ..
Which is WHY most people farm ORR. You get the chance for a T6 as a drop and then an high probability of a Heavy Bag (that can also generate a T6 mat). Not to mention the sheer magnitude of targets and how fast they respawn. Just saying.
BTW, if you travel back and forth between Cursed Shore and Straits on a regular basis (hitting a few events in each area) you will NEVER hit the DR threshold. This seems to increase my T6 generation quite a bit.
Oh….rotate characters when doing the Straits to Cursed Shore path back and forth. In my experience, if I farm with only one chacrater, the DR seems to kick in quicker and more often.

Of my 5 lvl 80’s, mesmer was by far the most annoying to level. For me, there was nothing ‘fun’ about. It was my 3rd toon, so I had lots of in-game experience, but this did not help while leveling a class that simply does not have the proper skills and tools at low-mid levels.
I used whatever tombs, scrolls, exp boosters I had on hand and maxed 3 crafts to get over the leveling ‘hump’. Once at lvl 60-something, I finished off by running the Queensdale champ train. Dreadfully boring, but it got the job done.
As for doing the the personal story on a mesmer, my advice is wait until you are at least 10-15 levels above the PS story level before attempting the next segment.
I can only say, you must have been doing something wrong as Mesmer is NOT that difficult to level. It CAN be a lengthy process (and nobody can tell anyone else what is boring or not) as your DPS is not stellar, but it is not impossible to kill (just not possible to kill quickly at certain levels in same level areas).
No matter what method you focused on to deal damage (confusion, shattering, conditions, phantasms, ect.), you should NOT be expecting GS # 1 nor Sword # 3 to deal the majority of your damage. The best damage skills for a Mesmer generate clones / phantasms and THOSE deal your damage (via a variety of direct and indirect means).
If you don’t have 3 illusions out almost ALL the time in combat (or you just shattered 3 illusions), you are definitely doing it wrong. Note that there are a few exceptions to that statement, but they are mostly limited to specific WvW roaming builds or PvP builds that you should not even be attempting before LVL 80.

Chris’s response makes it pretty clear that while selling is “allowed”, it’s not something they support or endorse. Any complaints regarding scamming or trolling involving sold runs is likely to be treated as a very low priority, if they address it at all. Sell/buy runs at your own risk.
That’s my take on this situation.
I’m guessing a bit of searching on the internet will answer your question of how the player was able to ruin your run….very unlikely (if it is an “exploit”) it would remain a secret for long.
Why would you delete a LVL 80 if you have open character slots and are planning an entirely new profession?
If it’s JUST the name, buy a name change contract, use it on the existing LVL 80 and then create the new character with the old 80s name. You end up with what you want for the new character AND retain the LVL 80 as a backup or mule.
The only time I can see needing to delete higher level character is if you want a different RACE of the same profession and don’t want multiple toons of the same profession.

We “don’t have rights to complain”? Yet another piece of evidence which suggests that the die-hard defenders ( known here on the forums as “White Knights” ) are worse than haters.
Seriously, “no right to complain”? Just wow.
You have every right to complain but you should keep in perspective that your original $60 got you the right to log into ANET’s game world and play. Any funds you have spent in the Gem store were optional choices you made (NOT required for the game….ok, you can argue the cost you have spent for storage slots….). Beyond that Anet OWES you nothing.
Now that said, I think Anet has GIVEN you a lot (despite whether you wanted it or not). Type /age on your characters and divide your original game cost (and add in your storage purchases if you must) by total hours played on that account and THAT is the value number of your entertainment costs per hour.
And to squash the “time invested” argument, ask yourself, “am I employed by Anet in any way?”, “do I have any agreement with Anet based on the hours I play or am logged into the game?” No players can answer YES to these questions and thus has not “earned” any right to compensation from the company. If you don’t expect an author to pay you to read their book nor a movie studio to pay you for watching their film (I get it feels like you should get something at times), then thinking Anet OWES you something for your 1000 hours spent in GW2 is just an incorrect assumption. The game is entertainment YOU participate in (and chose) NOT a job you should get paid to perform. If it FEELS like a job to you, I suggest you move on to another form of entertainment (I strongly feel MANY of the mob mentality players on this forum would benefit from this suggestion).
Now does Anet owe loyal fans anything? Certainly. Is it always what any individual fan “wants”? Absolutely not. Anet cannot cater to any individual desire at the expense of the overall game and the entitled, “Anet owes ME something!” attitude that permeates this forum is just the wrong way to look at this entire “relationship”.
Any complaints that are within reason based on the above financial facts are valid.
Demands are just childish and uncalled for.
ALL requests, suggestions and questions are always valid.

The only way to cancel a target call is to call another one…..(that I’m aware of). It has been requested numerous times that repeating the call on a target turn it off, but I am unaware of any Dev feedback on the issue.
Well, you could also kill the target.
Also, might be incorrect on this, but doesn’t it also go away if you call target on the same target twice?
Actually, killing the target (in many cases) leaves the called target on the dead body until it despawns, you leave the immediate area or you call another target…..another kind of annoying thing I wish they would fix.
If you call the same target twice it just relists your call in the chat window (it does NOT remove it). CALL TARGET working like a toggle has been asked for repeatedly and the answer I seem to recall is that the TAG for this is ON the target, not the player that calls it, so if multiple players in a party call the same target they would potentially cancel each other’s call. ANet stated they would rather have the current situation rather than the confusion of Targets being called and removed repeatedly by confused players.
Note that if players in the same party call DIFFERENT targets they cancel the called target from the other player. Last to call wins.

Excuse me ArenaNet why is it posible that he/she can play gw2 again and my friend not?
Please give me answers because i smell something overhere.
Most senserly Joan
Do you really expect anyone to answer this (even if they could given that you have provided NO details)?
I’m going to go out on limb here and state the reason this player CAN is because they followed the rules, opened a ticket and got assistance from Support? What did your “friend” do to NOT play and then try and remedy the situation?
My only comment to all this is WHY would you want to play this game if you don’t like the current combat system? Trying to make this game into something else means you SHOULD be playing another game (not trying to get this one modified for YOUR desire for another game).
I’ve got no problem with the mod as long as Anet doesn’t care (and your assumption that they do not based on your interpretation of the mod rules is a big one, IMO). My issue with this request is that the resources required to put this in place are taken away from something else and I am NOT for that tradeoff.
Going for Ascended items is a big commitment. Keep in mind there are things you CAN do to improve your overall equipment prior to making that decision:
Exotic armor and weapons are available from various sources if you don’t want to craft. Keep in mind that sans Dungeon armor, none of the exotic items obtained outside of crafting, drops or BLTP purchase are currently salvageable. You cannot get upgrades off them to use elsewhere.
Ascended trinkets (jewelry) are available via other methods:
I personally have 10 charcters and about half of them are fully decked in Exotic armor and some Ascended trinkets (from methods above). I have my Weaponsmith and Huntsman up to 500 and am working to generate Ascended weapons for them (and still working on Artificer to 500 crafting).
I have no plans current plans to build Ascended armor (mostly due to the stat advantage it gives not being on par with the cost for 6 Ascended pieces), but a few of my armor crafting IS nearing 500 just from refinement and crafting of needed Exotics to outfit my characters. I do NOT intend to invest money to get those to 500 for the moment (it DOES cost a good bit of gold to get your crafting to 500).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I’ve always thought they will eventually introduce LEGENDARY jewelry and a MF recipe to toss 4 Ascended rings in the Flusher should go along with that.
But there does need to be SOME option for disposing of unwanted Ascended gear (of any type) for something usable.
You are assuming that everyone has only bought the box.
That is a mistake.
I think the mistake is assuming you spent gems on items, got the items and yet are owed something else….
I tend to think this HAS to effect server performance and would think Anet has put something in place to mitigate this. The only thing I can envision is some sort of resource “weighting” between characters that display minis and those that do not in conjunction with some intelligent routing of players to different megaserver instances based on that weighting (they are already doing something like this based on friends lists, guild rep setting, etc.).
On the other hand, they may just be putting it in place and collecting data to see how it effects performance in general (before seeing if anything NEEDS to be done to mitigate any potential performance issues introduced by the change).
This is a pretty much a “wait and see” kind of thing.
Just to add, I’m one of those that care nothing for minis and will be quite vocal if they turn out to be annoying little resource hogs that effect my game play. If they don’t cause any issues, my only hope is that I could in some way stomp them on occasion if they get in my way.
While there are a few similarities to the F2P model, NOTHING in GW2 requires gems to play the game (ok, you can argue storage IS a must have).
As a player, I do not feel Anet has “crossed that line” the video discusses. I do NOT think the Devs have conversations about how to milk players of money rather than make a fun game. If you do not agree with THAT belief (you think Anet is intentionally doing everything they can to MAKE money with no regard for anything else), why are you still here?
(Note that last question was not directed at the OP, but every player that is posting in these doomsday threads).
@ oxtred – How easy it is to get WvW map completion depends a LOT on your Server. It’s actually easiest to get it on a mid line server that fluctuates rankings week to week (so the color changes a bit). If you are on a Top server in your tier you will likely always be GREEN but you have the rest of the WvW players caping and running with you to get the other colors (and more importantly Stonemist). If your Server is ALWAYS last, you will have a tough time clearing WvW maps….VERY TOUGH if you are actually attempting it solo.
Maybe there, but I don’t know. I’m not insulting open world players, I’m making a difference between the class learning curve and its strenght. Having an easy to play class doesn’t make it strong.
Neat trick, time travel….what I quoted was posted 5 minutes before what you said you were referencing….
While not a direct insult, your ‘facts’ certainly sound insulting (and a tad obnoxious). Might not be your intent, but that’s how I’m reading it.
For those claiming how easy it is to level Mesmers….have you done so since the Trait changes? There is a definite slump in damage output between LVL 40 and LVL 65 (and on to LVL 80) that makes leveling (in open world) much slower than with other classes (from my experience).
Not having Grandmaster traits until 80 reallly HURTS a mesmer DPS.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Describe a scenario where it is needed?
Anet specifically designed the game to NOT need ally targeting (removed targeted healing / enchantments). It was one of the major changes from GW1.
Just to be safe, I got past the unlocking of my Stalwart Jerkin on my new Engi, just in case…..
Wow….they give players something else to do and get spit on….figures.

Expecting the launcher to limit the download speed is just ludicrous…..sorry to be so blunt.
Please tell me how the in the hell technically it’s an unreasonable request to have bandwidth-limiting, even if the GW2 launcher is P2P-based. What kittening planet do you live on?
I live on Earth (but the native inhabitants often seem a bit “dim”)…..
The technical reason for not having this? ….hmmm….let me see….how about NOBODY (ok, very FEW) want SLOWER downloads? I’m just guessing here.
The GW2 launcher / download utility is NOT a P2P file sharing program (and the fact that you think it would be LIKE one speaks volumes about why we are having this conversation).
Seriously, if you want to limit the download speed, your only option is possibly a setting in your router. Some do allow for bandwidth limiting based on IP addresses across your internal LAN. These can often be set up as profiles that can be applied based on date / time or demand (and they CAN get quite complex to set up….be warned).
Oh…..I’m sure they will…..
CHA-CHING!
Retort:
None of the above “arguments” are in any way valid as a reason to remove the key runs (tho, this all is likely a moot point as it is likely already in progress).
It’s obvious from the rest of the OPs post they just want a cheaper (or easier) method to obtain the keys…..100% greed motivated post. Lame.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Oh, ha-ha. Well, there’s that, and there’s also:
- No outfits, armour or weapon skins (with a few exceptions).
- No transmutation, ever.
- No fancy hair-dids or ability to make a dog faced Charr.
- Five characters, tops.
- One (uncomfortably full) bank tabNow, Anet has fortunately allowed us to attain all of these things with gold earned through game play, but you’ve got to admit that this game would have a lot less depth without these options.
On the other hand list ALL the updates that have been released since release and then list the funds you have spent on them….
Don’t even think about it until you secure the Precursor…..that is all.
@OP.
If someone quits the game because they feel all they want to play for is a precursor. So they quit because they cannot acquire one. What in the world do you think they will do once they have a legendary. They will quit. Because now they have nothing else they feel they want to do.
If your having fun with the game and your friends in it, you will have fun, legendary or not.
DING DING!!!!
We have a…..(you know the rest).
If your only reason to play this game is obtain a Legendary Weapon, you should re-evaluate playing this game….
…… bc ethics, a fair go and equal opportunities should have a place in entertainment/ MMO.
Let me retort to your Liberal rant….
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
There’s no difficulty in open world. But leveling a mesmer is much more of a pain than leveling, say, a warrior or an ele, especially at low levels.
Who mentioned difficulty or low levels? Why are you insistent on insulting PvE players with your comments?
The problem is that clones and phantasms (and their associated shatters) do not come into full power until near LVL 80 (or AT 80) and the Mesmer’s damage potential lies squarely with that mechanic (that is lacking at levels 40-70).
I tend to agree that Eles can be more of a pain to level but mostly because they are less forgiving of mistakes and while Open World is not “difficult” you can easily overextend an Ele and bite off more than you can chew. When you do that, they are very quick to hit the dirt.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I play Engi too, but I fail to see how this is a general GW2 issue…at all.
@Swish: The fact that all you have “extrapolated” to prove your point is an INDIRECT method to gain financially, just proves my point. Of course they going to do everything they can to keep players logged in and extend the life of the game as long as possible…..do you understand HOW an MMO actually makes profit?
…..
I know that there is probably at least 1/3, and maybe up to 1/2 of the player base that feels this way…..
.
A statement you cannot back up with any evidence other than antitodes from those you game with or this forum. In no way is this a valid “percentage” number.
I have no doubts an expansion will come, but you presenting Anet with an “ultimatum” that it be NOW is a bit sad and cute at the same time.
This would basically ruin the idea that you have to play a lot of different content to get those materials for ascended crafting.
I don’t know about “ruin” as it would simply allow the option NOT to play the content you don’t want to.
With the proper balance in exchange rates, I would be behind this idea……
