Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
@unicorngirl.1487 – If your intention was to make another player THINK you were an Anet employee without actually claiming to be one, that is STILL impersonating an Anet employee and taking the risk that Anet MIGHT just see it that way should make you hesitant to use this tactic again (but many a zealot has thought it noble to sacrifice their life (account) for a cause…..good luck with that. BTW, a crusade to retake EotM from PvE players is doomed to fail unless Anet decides to take action (and they have not for over 6 months). Go back to playing WvW where it matters.
My suggestion to everyone else that has this happen to them is to ask point blank if they are an Anet employee. I’m guessing that will shut them up or if not, take a screenshot and report them.
Disagree….they need to make them +20 LVLS or skill points….period.
…..and backdate the change so I can use the 8 I have in the bank now…
…at the VERY LEAST let the 1st year and 2nd year ones STACK!
I’d be happy if we could trade the +20 starting Level ones for the +5 skill point one.
I lost basically the cost of every T2 cultural set for each race. I ended up upgrading them eventually and didn’t keep the skin. Now I have to buy them all over again
wait…..you upgraded over all of them so they were lost then…by YOU. At that point they were gone…..FOREVER. Now that Anet allows you to actually USE the skins multiple times, it’s Anets fault they were “lost”? Really?
Sure, I’d love to have every skin I ever transmitted over since release, but I’m not about to blame Anet for MY decisions before the wardrobe system went into place.
These are the venomous threads that make sure Anet will never be open about what they ARE doing….good job.
How is your karma?. You can get a full set of exotics from temple armor, temple of grenth gives berserker stats that’s usually the best one for warriors in PvE. You can get a full set for 252000 karma.
Oh wow, thanks I didn’t know that they’d “fixed” the problem with the stats for temple armour!
Well, I’m off to Grenth on my charr warrior, a zerker set will go nicely with his knights set.
WARNING: You cannot currently salvage any upgrades from Karma purchased items, so be aware of that before you slap a set of Strength runes on that Zerker set….
……, to the point my head explodes.
…….
Pics or it never happened….
Note that the only players upset about this are coming from a certain game that allows free transmutes but charges a monthly fee…..I will take the option to pay when I want to change my look, not because the date changes….and so will a lot of long time players.
Viewing this as a “money grab” is actually a “pay the bills” move. LOTS of content and BLING related items will follow this format in GW2 and the game is designed like that for a reason. If you can’t handle the change to this type of economic model, you were playing the alternative.
…… ridiculously high on price on the TP; just to name a few:
- Chilli Pepper
- Lemon grass
- Dill
- Sesame seeds
- Sage
- Slab of poultry meat
make people farm these crafting material so that they go down in price or introduce more nodes all around tyria so people farm them when exploring or doing wvw……..
Rather than ask Anet to solve this, why not do some farming of your own and earn some gold?
You are looking for Herbs (Lemongrass ONLY in Straits of Devastation, I think) and Raptors. Good luck.
Hopefully it will be introduced as a gem store item instead of black lion chests.
Have you ever seen any of the other Perma-kits in the Gem store? Not likely.
Perma tools replace something that is sold via GOLD. These items replace something that sells with GEMS……see the difference?
Will propably be available for 2 weeks only as a rare drop from Black Lion Chests.
Permanent Hair Stylist contracts didnt exactly plummet…It would be pretty wierd to have a weapon skin as a direct drop from a BL chest.
But I guess it’s a lot more likely to have it retain a 7-ticket cost, which would still be gold saved
If they follow previous BL skin releases it MAY be available for 1 ticket for 2 weeks…..
THAT would definitely effect those currently on the TP.
How were they made available previously?
Via Spidy Graph…upward trend started on the 19th, peaked on 24th and looks to be on it’s way back down (abet slowly).
This is another issue where nobody can CONTROL or MONOPOLIZE this market as it’s impossible to control the supply. I’d bet 80% of regular players have over a hundred sitting it their bank (maybe soon being added to the TP Supply).
….. the other 1.800.000 is free profit^^
or 1.8 million chances at a big payoff if they can secure that many BL keys somehow (and whatever they may be speculating on pans out).
If you are asking if you can easily make money….No.
If you research WHAT to make, you can make money with crafting. Note that the component items are usually much more profitable than the finished items.
25 Ancient Longbow staves will earn you much more than 25 (non-Zerker) Exotic Longbows.
Keep in mind that Eles are one of the few classes that can actually USE Celestial (WupWup) to good effect. Zerker/Assassin IS optimum for pure maximizing DPS, but Eles can do so much more than just stack Might and burn stuff….
BTW, you can be quite effective in nearly all PvE (sans Dungeon SPEED RUNS) with a few pieces or trinkets that provide some defensive stats (Toughness / Vitality) even if you DO want to focus on maximizing DPS.
Just my 2 coppers. Use a G13 keypad w/ the WASD tied to the thumbpad and use mouse turning and back/forward (web-nav) buttons on the mouse for Dodge/Jump.
Works out really well for great mobility.
Skills, targeting and often used menus are programmed to other G13 buttons so I rarely touch the keyboard. This DOES effect my chat ability (or lack thereof), but game play control is superb.
I don’t think the upscaled events generate more than a few levels higher (just much larger numbers).
EDIT: I’m assuming you are aware the Wiki entry on this item is empty. This speaks volumes about the rarity of the item. It may be that they are VERY rarely dropped via an upleveled event or particular hostile encounter (Veteran / Boss) in a remote area (Brisbane DOES fit that bill).
What level are the highest level Skritt in Caledon and Metrica? Maybe they are just VERY VERY rare drops from those mobs?
EDIT AGAIN: I’m guessing THIS may be the source of these?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stop_the_skritt_burglar_before_it_escapes_with_the_treasure
I’ve run into this event a few times while clearing Brisbane and I recall the PitA it is to kill this guy but I do NOT recall what he drops along his path or if he actually drops an loot when you do take him down…..* shrug *

You are exaggerating a bit (tho Bleed is more of an issue than other conditions, I agree).
Certainly the problem becomes untenable with 4 Condition Damage players (and has adverse effects at 3).
Still the only content that the player will overly suffer for is what I mentioned (as they will possibly denied rewards due to lack of damage). Otherwise, the player will still be “successful”, tho potentially not effective as they could be.

If you can verify that the game actually ONLY lags during peak times….your first place to look is your own ISP. Throttling bandwidth during peak hours is their best way to “save” money and they WILL do it until you complain about it.
Note that often the throttling is NOT the real issue. When throttling is done, it requires some alteration of their normal routing during the throttling time span. Often, the reduction in bandwidth is NOT causing lag, but a possible routing (or equipment) error or increased path (internet hops, etc.) in the new ROUTING can cause problems with specific internet paths (or possibly other internet backbone providers, datacenters, etc.).
Performing TRACERT tests during peak and off hours can usually help identify this (and give you evidence to present to your ISP….tho it’s possible it’s not THEM that is throttling, but whomever THEY are buying service from.
This is not remotely technically possible.
They COULD use tricks that other games use to simulate this, but they are a “gimick” to make you think the world is continuous when it’s not. Basically passes you thru an hidden ’instanced" area WHILE the next zone loads in the background.
Now I would give much for some variation in the loading screens….
After the end of the tournaments, the game will be the same since it was released!
…..
Sorry, I call BS….game has many significant changes since 2 years ago.
You might not like them all nor they might not be what you “wanted”, but it HAS changed and LOTS of content has been released.
Blatant exaggeration in these complaint threads are half the problem with “communications” around here. If you are going to post a “rant” try starting it without building your entire post on a flat out lie.
I see his point, but his “situation” is certainly not a “typical” one, either….
The only place you CAN NOT successfully run a condition build is in Champ Trains and World Boss Zergs so if THOSE modes are the OPs issue keep in mind those are quite narrow (tho popular) game play modes.
Seems pretty obvious that ANet realizes WHAT is the issue but is unable to justify fixing those 2 modes at the expense of making Condition Damage builds OP in all other areas. If the OPs question is if they are still looking into what can be done (if anything), that’s a legit question (but I doubt he’s going to get an answer).
While I don’t disagree it’s an issue, there IS a solution…..don’t run Condition Builds for World Boss / Champ Train pursuits. Alternate equipment/Builds and Alt Characters ARE possible. Not saying this is a definitive long term solution but it is a viable option.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Paragraphs. Use them.
Agreed….have to add the OPs name effected my reading continuation….
Also stopped after the first absurd attack veiled as a question….(pretty sure the entire post is like that but I won’t hurt my brain trying to read it).
The grind is optional.
You don’t need to be fully decked in ascended. You don’t need to go after that legendary.
You can easily do all content this game has to offer just with exotics, which you can obtain really easily. Now if Ascended and Legendary is what you want (aka prestigious items that weren’t made to be worn by the entire playerbase in the first place), you will simply have to put in more work.
<insert amusing “well the game is optional so I don’t have to play it either” argument>
You’ll likely see something like the above as people always resort to that faulty logic which trying to counter someone’s argument about something being optional.
That point is fully valid and MAY in fact be the OPs best choice….the entire game IS optional. I’ve heard EVERYTHING but death and taxes are too….
Recently, I’ve had something happen to me a few times that makes me doubt the RNG. When I click through piles of sand, I sometimes get groupings of 3: 3e geodes from 3 subsequent double-clicks or 3 lockpicks. Both have happened several times.
This could of course happen with a fair and proper RNG, but given the droprates of those things, it should be very unlikely and I wouldn’t expect it to happen several times in a short period of time.
That’s actually one of the flaws of computers generating RNG values. Every RNG type function needs a SEED number (not the same as a possible ACCOUNT or CHARACTER seed number the OP is speculating about) to generate the RNG value. WHERE this seed number comes from is USUALLY the system real time clock…..so similar values ARE more possible (or likely) if the RNG values are generated very close together. Again, speculation based on programming experience, not any inside knowledge of what Anet’s code does.
And on the issue of Account and / or Character based hidden “luck” stats (or seed values):
It’s a good suggestion (GW1 had weekend special drops/events like this for many years…maybe still do?). However, I think Anet KNOWS this and has this type of “feature” in mind to put in place when they feel they NEED to bolster the player numbers in the future, but that’s just speculation on my part.
I also have a sneaking suspicion they full well KNOW how much increased player activity an actual Expansion would generate so they are holding that Ace up their sleeve as well….
It’s usually the components that sell for the best profit margin, not the finished items.
That was going to be my next guess…..the G13 is just defective (apparently).
The assumption that this guy that is “claiming” credit for this is actually causing it is a pretty big leap. Anything he puts up as PROOF he is doing this is evidence for any prosecution he faces in the future. Either he is trolling everyone and has nothing to do with it (or has some inside info and is using it to fake his control of it) or he is just pretty stupid (in terms of being “covert” about his activities).
Has Anet even acknowledged any DDOS attacks lately? The did do this a few weeks back so there is no reason for them not to do so now if that is actually what is going on.
Note that if you logged in here, you should be able to log into GW2 as well (both use same credentials on the same log in Server).
Just my 2 coppers.
I’m not overly horrified like many players here over the changes made to the Trait system. I think the idea of earning the Traits as you go along is a GOOD idea….I just think it was implemented in a poor manner.
The main problem for a new player is not knowing WHAT Traits are worth the cost or effort to obtain. If I was an old player trying out a NEW class, I would be in the same boat (tho I would know where to go and obtain some other players ideas on the subject). Short of some sort of cumbersome “TRIAL TRAIT” item/booster kind of deal, I’m not sure how you even try to address this issue.
Next is the issue of EARNing the Traits. A few of the current ones are a tad easy, a few are just about right, but WAY too many of them are potentially difficult (if not nearly impossible) to obtain solo. I get the idea is to party up and do these together with other players and if this system had been in place from day one, I don’t think that would be a big deal. Organizing the treks out to remote locations to do a particular Event is just an awkward thing to request of Guildies much less total strangers in game. It can be done, but you immediately look at your gold and skill points and decide to just buy the Trait rather than bother.
And on that note, we need to address the cost. Adept is frankly cheap, but the Skill Point cost at that stage of your Characters development can be “difficult”. Master Traits can start to hurt your pocketbook and while you likely have all the Utility skills you want by then, the Skill Points can still be an issue. Grandmaster Triat costs just HURT a player that has just reached 80 and needs to “gear up”.
I’m not sure what you can do about the gold cost (other than reduce it), but the Skill Points can be mitigated by scrolls. This is likely a no brainer for long time players but new players likely don’t have a stack or two of these in their bank yet. A method to obtain scrolls via an NPC might be a possible solution (this would also help with those that would like to transfer skill points from one character to another IF one method cost a SP and some other currency).
Ok…maybe this is more like 2 silver worth of rambling on the matter.
To OP on this issue:
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
This is like a teenager with an allowance saying they want more money, while they already have enough to get what they NEED, but they don’t want to work to get what they WANT.
If you step back a bit, you will see that thought process is a much wider spread problem in the first world than just with teenagers…. “Gimme, Gimme, Gimme”, is pretty much the norm for MANY first world occupants, period. (myself included).
….
This interview with guildmag was absolutely shameful. Why agree to an interview if you know you cannot say anything?
….
You are being far too harsh on these 2 employees and Anet as a whole. No company reveals big future plans they are holding for future marketing purposes (no matter how whiny and childish their customer base may become).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Mounts: No
Guild halls YES PLEASE. I was hoping to get a really cool guild hall. But now I would almost except the old GW1 guild hall.
Agree 100% (not that I tend to think there was ANYTHING wrong with the GW1 Guild Halls).
There is no issue with leveling your new characters. The issue is the cost and skill points required to obtain ALL the Traits. Granted, NOBODY uses all of them so buying them all is going to be a waste. While you ARE leveling the one thing you do have to conserve and watch closely are your SKILL POINTS (and gold for the Master and higher Traits can certainly be an issue for new players).
We need a vendor to sell Scrolls for Skill Points not Tomes for Levels. This would also help in transferring skill points for various activities (material promotion, Ascended crafting….ect.). I have a stack of scrolls in my bank, so i don’t really need this, but it would be good for new players.
To be honest, if they revamped 60% of the current activities to EARN the Traits, everything would be ok, but the real disservice to new players is that they have NO idea what Traits are MUST have they need to buy ASAP and which ones can wait to be EARNED (or not bothered with at all).
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
I could certainly be wrong about the final prices of T5 & T6 stabilizing at a higher value (but I don’t think I am) but there is no WAY that the introduction of Precursor crafting does not SPIKE those prices for at least a few weeks….
The number of players that will RUSH toward forging a Legendary due to this (despite if it’s an insanely difficult, time-gated and expensive process) will make the rush after wardrobe introduction look minor.
That Birthday NPC.
I would like added the option to trade mini Queen Jenna’s for someting more usefull.
Like a boulder?
Seriously, let me toss my 8 useless minis in the Flusher to get me a few I might be able to sell to some suc….errr collector.
Questioning how resources are used within a privately held company is absurd.
Why, because they’re incapable of doing things wrong?
Of course not….your implication that my statement is one of defending ANY action by Anet is also absurd.
It would be better news if it WAS a hardware failure as they can possibly do something about that. Repeated DDOS attacks from a variety of sources is not something Anet can realistically halt.
Why would ANet lie about having hardware failures over a DDOS attack? The admitted to previous attacks and did what they could to mitigate them. They gain NOTHING by stating they had hardware failures when an outside source caused the failures.
The idea that using a sophisticated (and expensive) system to prevent DDOS for a non-subscription GAME is laughable. Even for a subscription game it’s out of the question. I hate to tell you guys, but the GW2 servers are NOT what anyone in the IT industry would consider a “fault-tolerant” application. Lives will NOT be lost nor any actual funds (other than Anet’s gem sales) will be lost by it going down for some period of time.
The idea that a classes “balance” has anything to do with the difficulty to play them just means you have no idea what “balance” actually means….
The Manifesto promised ‘no grind’.
…….
GW2 was promised to NOT be a treadmill of any kind – but it IS.
Sorry, you are mistaken. The Manifesto implied the grind would be minimal and optional. It is. No MMO can exist without some type of long term goals that require what many players would call “grind”. Rest assured that the “grind” in this game is a pittance of what is REQUIRED to even progress in other MMOs.

While Bolts of Damask are used for ALL Ascended armor that is the ONLY place in the game it is uses.
For those of us that have no plans to craft Ascended Armor, it’s been a nice little income generator, however.
You are aware that the t5 and t6 price hike of recent directly relates to the MF change (increasing the variance of results to include sub lvl 80 exotics, increasing the cost of every MF since the few exotics returned now offset the initial cost far less) which also resulted in the doubling on precursor prices right? (ie the minimal chance of the precursor combined with the now significantly reduced potential returns caused by the MF change…think about that for awhile and what would happen if flushing mats down the toilet for a miniscule chance of a precursor wasn’t pretty much the required method for generating precursors…) There’s a bigger picture you’ve not bothered to look at. At current estimates by folk who do mass MF…each precursor is requiring many thousands of t5 mats rather than the stack or two you seem scared of……
I’m not scared….I’m incensed at your attitude that wrecking the T5 and T6 market FURTHER is justified if you can get another method to obtain a Precursor.
Again….utter contempt.
Your contempt sounds pretty much unjustified, since there are lots of ways to implement this, some of which would not create any spike in material costs.
Did I say my contempt would include any methods that did the above? No. My contempt is that ONE poster here is suggesting that as long as HE (and others obsessed with obtaining a Legendary) can be provided another method to obtain a Precursor, the rest of us players that would suffer higher T5 & T6 prices do not matter…. His sole goal in this crusade is to kitten the torpedoes and get another method for Precursors into the game.
I have no problem with another method being put in place (and never have said that I was opposed to it) but that method needs to be a balanced approach that does not (further) wreck equilibrium prices of materials that are important to OTHER players outside the obsessive pursuit of a Legendary Weapon.
So needing several hundred t5 mats for a precursor vs the several 10’s of thousands that are currently required….wooow super smart there.
Would you PLEASE reply in complete ideas as your limited and snide wording (to appear clever and of a superior intelligence) is very unclear and makes you appear to be babbling…. You appear to still be arguing that adding Precursor crafting would NOT raise T5 and T6 prices….that’s quite “super smart”. If you agree that T5 and T6 prices will rise….but it’s justified to give you (and other players) another Precursor method, then that’s were my claim of contempt comes from.
I’m sure you’ll just toss out another vague 2 sentence sideways insult that doesn’t answer what I am attempting to clarify….because you are so clever….
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
If you are looking for it to drop, I suggest:
(There are plenty of others but listing them would likely result in infractions or reader insanity).
Just to comment on my own personal experience with this. I deleted a LVL 63 Silvari Thief because I realized I simply do not like Silvari in general. My new Human Thief was up to 80 in less than a month.
Do I regret it? No (but I do wax nostalgic when ever images of that character pops up on my screensaver…..sigh).
You do need to install the software.
I’ve run a G13 w/ many games (including GW2) for over a year and a half. There is NOT an issue with the device in general.
The idea that we (as players) would have ANY say on what anyone at Anet does with their work time is laughable….
If you want to ask them to work on something, fine. Questioning how resources are used within a privately held company is absurd. I have seen more and more implication on this Forum that players seem to think this game is OWNED by the players….it is NOT. You purchased a license from ANet to play the game they develop. You have every right to discuss what you like and dislike about the game but you are not OWED anything beyond the working product you originally purchased.
The obsessive belief that the game is something more to us (as players) because we become fanatical about it is an incorrect assumption that only exists within your mind.
(edited by Brother Grimm.5176)
Just sad that ArenaNet refuses to even reply to these threads.
What exactly would you have them say? “We are wasting time letting you know about a current DDOS attack rather than attempting to fix the problem….”
If they are under a DDOS attack, it is likely you CAN NOT get to this forum….
Pretty sure if any of the parties involved in the “dispute” come up with the CC # that originally purchased this game, there would be no “dispute”.
The idea that loosing the data on a computer’s hard drive completely destroyed all possible records of the original purchase sound quite a bit fishy….more is going on here than we are being told.
