If you consider how the game used to work prior to guesting and MegaServer, it’s not dumb at all (you couldn’t even play with those on other home servers). Since these changes (MegaServer is about 4 months ago), it would be better for a cross server merger, but that has not been ironed out yet (I’m not sure of the accuracy of the above report as to why, but it seems reasonable).

You do no need your serial codes but the other info becomes more important. I’d say the MOST important is the CC info you used to buy the account originally, but your character names, and other in-game info is what they use to determine you are not a hacker trying to compromise the account.
As stated above, a few of the drop down boxes are rather difficult to see on that page so look carefully for fields that need data you have not selected or filled in.

What does that have to do with it? I’m repeating things that JS has said, in terms that are easier for a particular person to understand. It happens to be the truth, whether you want it to be or not.
I wouldn’t call what you did “repeating” and what JS said was much more “vague”. He has never made a direct statement (I may have missed it), regarding how when and where gems are created or destroyed and certainly has never said, “and these are the ONLY times this is done.”
Your acceptance of the “truth” in a system you have no method to verify or even query properly is kind of cute…. I’m not saying he’s lying, I’m saying he is intentionally not showing us the full deck of cards (and why would he?).
If anything, I seem to have gotten better drops over the last few weeks….
I get 3 Ecto Drops all the time now (and no Ecto salvages are quite rare). Using Mystic or BL kits….. Granted, nothing scientific so it may just be a perception issue on my end.
Can someone sticky JSs comment so these quit popping up every week?

ANet has, on various occasions and in various ways, said that they are happy with the way the Trading Post works. Therefore, it is incumbent on those wishing to change the system to point out why it would be worth ANet’s time to implement a system that competes with the TP. So far, I haven’t seen anyone make that case.
The ONLY reason that is needed is one of operating COST (actual REAL money).
Player to player trades would generate MANY tickets and claims (false or otherwise) of scamming. NO system can be set up to protect ignorant players from savvy ones, so the argument that a “good” system would prevent this is false…..even valid trades would generate players that were unsatisfied with the results and a ticket would need to be addressed by Customer Service.
NO (perceived) convenience by any player is worth the cost (REAL $) Support would generate to manage a player to player trade system. Even evaluating or discussing adding such a system is pure wasted revenue when the current system works perfectly fine. No player is suffering for not being able to obtain items they want or need (that are currently available for sale).
TLDNR: not needed and would cost Support time and effort to police….not gonna happen.

The limitation has nothing to do with overloading servers but to attempt to thwart automated (bot) TP programs.
The interface itself already has delays that limits the server getting overloaded (thus the delay when you put in a sale order).
No crafted new stat items have been sell-able for at least the last 12 months (since Celestial was introduced). Not saying it’s right or wrong, but expecting something different is not logical.
The system (for drops) is RNG and it works as intended. A widely held “perception” of the system by many players is that it is “broken” and that is an issue.
The perception that all players should somehow obtain a legendary after a certain number of hours playing is a misconception of the existing system and is part of the “entitlement” I referred to.
Claiming the system is “unfair” is legit, but per the definition of RNG it is not “broken”.
I usually sell these on the TP. some of them give 60+ silver.
I get that….the question is WHY? Are these being purchased for leveling Alts? Skins? “average” tosses in MF? Ectos (68+)? Salvage material?
The only skins Anet has ever changed is tweaking a few Legendary weapons. Highly (VERY highly) unlikely.

…..plus you already had that previous precursor drop, which the game DOES take into account when you go on forging……
THIS is the kind of FUD that players read and repeat and then base their future decisions on. Your LAST toss (and your previous 50,000 ones) has NO bearing on the next one (or any future ones). A 0.1% chanced does not mean you get a prize after 1000 tries….it means you get a prize if you roll a 1 on a 1000 sided die (and how many times you roll that die has NO effect on previous or future rolls).

If you buy the LVL 80 T5 RARE inscriptions / insignia recipes, you can craft (discover) them without Ectos and Salvage them for possible Ectos (side bonus). Keep in mind that T5 materials are not exactly cheap right now (see below) and your discoveries are NOT going to be that great in terms of XP, but it can get you into the mid to upper 480s, so you have to discover (or craft) fewer Exotics to hit 500.
I ran a few toons back and forth thru Cursed Shore and Malacor’s Leap for several nights gathering T5 (and T6, of course) and was able to make some headway toward 500 without spending any gold.

Windowed Full Screen uses the resolution you have set up via Windows desktop. Note that if you desktop is NOT set up for the native resolution of your monitor, higher end graphics WILL look horrific.
You have to select the resolution you want for Full Screen. You should select the native max resolution of your monitor.
Glad to hear your mouse wheel issue seems to be fixed.
There ARE a few skins that cost 0 charges to use. Heritage skins (from GW1 Achievements) and the skins you earn from certain Achievement chests are the only ones that come to mind right now. Also, any skins you PAY for with gems, comes with a free method to apply it one time.
You can also earn transmutation charges in game without buying them.
Only possible from any drop that CAN drop an Exotic item.
Please link wiki page that states a LVL 2 can get one. (note that wiki is player content, not Anet content so it CAN be wrong).
I’m guessing the only way this can happen is if a LVL 2 opens a bunch of Exotic Champ Bags obtained by a LVL 80 (or near LVL 80). I HAVE gotten a named LVL 80 Exotic like this on a LVL 35 character.
Guess what? I make mostly all of the ascended backpieces because of the look of it and because it fits to one of my characters and not because it has some nice stats. …..
You seriously think your desire for BLING should rank higher than better stats to play the game? You do realize your perception of what is important only makes it important in your own mind, right?

BTW, the “Play how you want” mantra is bull. Us dungeon folks have to go grind world bosses or WvW for obscene amounts of time to get enough dragonite to do anything. Get used to it, ANet doesn’t care that you have to do things you don’t like. I also lol regularly at “We don’t make grindy games”. HA!
Please stop using that quote incorrectly….it’s just a hallmark of those that will go to any length to bash Anet.
You CAN, “Play how you want”….they just don’t give you “everything you want” by doing so (and they shouldn’t give you BiS gear without some work). NONE of the items you mention (Ascended gear) are required for ANY content (except, ironically….high level Fractals).
The game itself is NOT grindy….the pursuit of BiS gear does include some grind….as it should.
I tend to agree with the OPs complaint, but it may actually get me to try Fractals again (I haven’t tried them since failing miserably when they were first released). I can see the benefit in including these “forced content” requirements to obtain top end gear.
BTW, I’m “forced” to do Dungeon content to obtain specific armor skins, so you aren’t the only player making a choice about playing content you don’t want to so you can obtain certain rewards. It’s really nothing new here or in most other MMOs.

Anyone care to venture how many “is it fair…?” bullet points about armor and weapons skins PvPers could post here? Seriously, PvP (and WvW) only players have MUCH more to be disgruntled about in this area…..

Ley Line weapons were pretty and unique. These are blindingly white and bland, especially since they can’t be dyed.

Do they have ANY effects? If they have any of the ghostly blue/purple glow/blur like the Chaos Gauntlets in GW1, I might consider taking a closer look, but if they are just bright white, I’ll pass.
EDIT: Looked at the video on Dulfy and see they have a white smoke effect. Per above, they look more like ICE weapons than CHAOS ones (at least considering the GW1 items named that).

There’s a thread in Crafting that has a guy with a reported gold flusher project going that had +12K gold down the drain….I have no idea if he is still going but he was listing nearly 2 dozen Precurors last I saw it.
The system is not broken….player’s obsessions and expectations are kinda out of whack, tho.

Not sure there is one. Consider that you encountered Gwen in pre-searing Prophesies for a very short time and did not see her again until EotN was released 2.5 years later. She then became one of your HEROs (semi-controllable and fully configurable Mesmer). I’m not sure I would consider her a “transcendent figure” as the OP states, but she is certainly a hugely beloved character and (IMO) had much more depth than any of the current NPCs (tho I kind of liked Tybalt in the same way).
Trahearne is an NPC figurehead that keeps the story from being too tightly focused on the PC alone. To be honest, his character is one dimensional and uninteresting.
We know where Gwen’s body is supose to be lying….how about a Champion Risen Gwen?

Think of the gem/gold exchange like this:
There are two boxes. One has gold in it, the other has gems in it. If you want to take some gold out of the box, you have to put gems in the other box. If you want to take out gems, you have to put gold in the other box.
You can’t put something in without taking something out, and you can’t take something out without putting something in. How much of each depends on how full the boxes are. Right now there’s a lot of gold in one box, but only a few gems in the other box. So in order to take out one gem you have to put in a lot of gold. But on the other hand, if you put just one gem into the box you can take out a lot of gold.
I like your response more than the previous quotes response because its a simpler analogy. But, how does buying gems with money fit into the analogy?

This argument / discussion has been done multiple times in the past. The fact of the matter is, the game was designed from the ground up to NOT support player to player trading. Get on with your life.
The game was also designed not to have a dedicated healing class, but we still have people trying to roll a healer.
….and how does a healer and mail trade work out? Again, move on….
The only thing wrong with the current Legendary system is the acquisition of Precursors.
With that current roadblock, I don’t even consider Legendary Weapons (other than giggle at the silly footprints some players leave all over the place….).
How does your question about allowing casuals to more easily obtain the ultimate weapons in the game have ANYTHING to do with adding “items” to the game? Trying to mask your request for easy BiS item access as a generic, all encompassing plea for ideas on adding ANY new items to “improve” the game for “have and have-nots” is a horribly executed (and self-centered) ploy.
The concept that to be a “Have” you need to put in the work is a fairly simple and quite fair concept…..the rules apply to ALL players.

Made me wonder what this has to do with Skittles…..
I don’t think they want “quick swap” as part of something they need to balance in various game modes, so I don’t think this is gonna happen.
That does not mean a “save” build / equipment feature (like in PvP) is not possible, but allowing it on the fly (out of combat) is going to have profound effects on balance / meta in WvW and Dungeon / Fractal content, so I don’t think that’s something they want. Now some sort of NPC you can speak to do a reconfig might be possible (in WvW Keeps/Towers, encampments in PvE open world, towns, ect.).
WAIT! How about a Skritt squire (named Patsy) that follows you around with 2 coconut halves clacking them together (much better than a mount!)? You have to talk to him to change gear.

If you are leaving the toons in the same zone…..that may be the issue… (DR?). I run a few toons thru Cursed into Malachors’ and park them in Straits. Do the opposite the next day. I think I’ve got a total of about 50 (but only run 2 characters and not every day).
Not impressed with the Chaos ones and if you are looking for personal use, then just hold them.
Of course the way to (potentially) make money on these. is to buy ones that will be desired when they are one ticket and hold the skin until it goes to 5 and the price shoots up. Keep in mind this is huge gamble as the skin being “desired” is VERY subjective and one player might consider it FUGLY and another will spend +50g for it.

Joining a Guild not on your home server would end up causing a LOT of issues for you that would be very frustrating. I would suggest against doing so.
They have to make turning Karma into Gold in some way painful….
Nevermind….they are RISEN spiders and thus drop moldy loot bags….those can generate blood (I wasn’t talking about the Champs….that’s obvious).
I would venture to say that intentionally failing an event (difficult to prove) would be considered an exploit….anything you need to ask, “is that an exploit?” is likely considered and exploit.

My first guess is that you have something ELSE in Windows defined for your mouse wheel function and you have recently changed from playing FULL SCREEN vs WINDOWED FULL SCREEN (or visa versa)? Mouse functions will work differently in those 2 modes (simply because the game and the OS are fighting over what the mouse buttons should do).
No store announces what’s gonna be on sale before it goes on sale…..it’s a sure way to loose potential profits.
You can craft RAREs for LVL 35 and up gear….you just have to buy the recipes for Jewels, Insignia or Inscriptions from the Master Crafter. It’s a significant boost in stats, but questionable as to whether it is needed (Weapons are nice for 10 levels or so). Not a bad use of excess fine materials for ALTs (but all the needed materials may better be used for promotion and/or TP sale).
I’ve never looked into any potential profit at selling them on TP….can’t image there is profit in it, but I could be wrong.
How can use them to obtain higher level rares without already having higher level rares? I get using them for lower cost input in an “average” Level toss for a Precursor chance, but you would have to toss at least a few RARES that could already give you Ectos, to change these into a high enough level item to give an Ecto…..I fail to see the benefit (for Ecto generation).

Unfortunately, I’m still getting the error. This doesn’t necessarily mean it isn’t fixed for a lot of people, though; I’ve been having problems with this for a lot longer than most, and don’t have the same symptoms as the recent increase in problems (basically, it’s not just a single character getting stuck, I can’t log in to anyone once I’ve gotten the error, until I reset my router).
I hope this works out for the majority, and that maybe it’ll lead to a fix for those like me who’ve been suffering this for over a month.
Have you specifically tried to point your system DNS at the Google DNS servers? There have been specific instances of particular ISPs having DNS routing issues that effected players similar to this issue that were fixed by doing this.
Just offering a suggestion (and please reply back here to confirm outcome of trying this if you do).
I was about to add….don’t you still get the rewards? Getting half a dozen Laurels a week is still SOMETHING to log in for.
There should still be one of those portals in LA…..getting to Orr is a PitA.
I suggest salvaging everything you can’t use until you get your MF up to over 100%. You can sell the mats and forge the upgrades (or sell if they can net you more than vendor price….don’t forget 15% TP fee).
What you use to salvage depends on your Salvage kit availability (mostly, what you do with your mystic forge stones). I never use mine for anything other than Mystic Salvage kits, so I have plenty of those and use them for nearly everything. I also do a good bit of keyrunning so I usually have spare BL kits (I use these for ANYTHING that can give me Ectos or has upgrades I need intact).

Guild Halls are something I want. I have fond memories of chilling there with Guildies in GW1. Hosting Guild skirmishes was great as well.
Capes seem to be in direct conflict with back pieces, IMO (tho I never display mine). Don’t Guild tags ID your guild anyway? Never been a big fan of look of capes (even in GW1).
I have deleted stacks of Bloodstone dust before…..just simply taking up too much storage. I may regret it someday, but I still have several thousand in storage….and get more everyday.
There are a few legit reasons to complain about MegaServer but yours is simply because you refuse to use the tools to work within the system. It’s not changing back, so you should attempt to adapt.
I will agree with you that a revamp of the FRIEND list system is needed (to allow you to classify your FRIENDS into groups).

The fact that so many on these forums talk about nothing but how to get (or not get) a Precursor (obvious obsession with obtaining a Legendary) is to some degree disturbing. If your only reason to play this game is to “poop rainbow flower unicorns” (not my words….but they ARE awesome ones), then you might want to take a step back and examine WHY you are playing at all.
