inb4 20 witch cauldrons are spawned at every ledge/cliff in HoT
i lost my broom in the wardrobe update
as in, i have no idea where it ended up, but it sure wasn’t on my main, since he had the witch outfit (which i’ve already unlocked).
Sure, give me back 200 gems per episode then or give me something that those with Ls2 not unlocked will not get.
it’s a ridiculous notion that you should be refunded for something because it was bundled on another product a year later. do you also ask valve for refunds when games go on sale? do you lose your kitten when humble bundles happen?
the funniest part is that more likely than not, you didn’t even pay for the episodes.
they should bundle it and give it a special price (say, 1200 gems, or $15), but i think asking for it to be free with every expansion purchase might be pushing it a bit too far.
if season 2 is anything to go by, season 3 will have its own maps, separate from anything related to the expansion.
…the Revenant is simply swinging their hammer through the air…
I get to choose the hammer I throw. Happy with that. Most projectile attacks are set graphics.
Good incentive to get a cool looking hammer skin.
actually it looked like the hammer projectile itself was generic, much like every “throw weapon” animation.
you can’t even jump with tonics, much less glide.
Will HoT let us salvage extra ascended gear?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: BrunoBRS.5178
i hope so. let them count as exotics when salvaging, even if they don’t drop insignias (though that would be sweet). i’m slowly but surely stacking my inventory with random ascended accessories that drop from fractals, WvW rank chests, and LS episode achievements.
there’s only so many languages ANet can realistically support before all development is halted so that localization can be released in more languages.
it’s also expensive as hell.
“collision” is a development term. there’s “collision” just to make sure your characters don’t fall through the ground, “collision” to damage enemies when you use attacks, “collision” when the camera has to move around objects, “collision” when you step into an AoE, and so on. and those are just examples in GW2, there isn’t a single game, ever that has no collision detection.
it’s not necessarily a literal collision of objects. it absolutely does not mean body blocking is an upcoming feature, especially because body blocking is a nightmare in any MMO.

For warrior, dont want: pistol, scepter, focus or shortbow.
which leaves three weapon options.
what’s wrong with pistol though? i could see an offhand pistol on warrior, especially since rytlock has had one
use it on keyfarm characters. that way we never have to find out

once it reaches 0, the boss is hit by a pre-determined stun (so even if the final hit is a knockback or a blind, it will stun the boss), and then the bar it back to full again, probably in “you can’t damage it right now” mode.
This, except it might not be a stun, but a ‘encounter appropriate effect’. Type of CC doesn’t, from how I read it, matter at all.
yeah, but the “default” version of it is a stun.

I want the sword for elementalist, but I am debating whether I want to like the elementalist sword skills or not…
Y’see I have a molten sword sitting on a mule, it is possibly my favorite skin in the entire game, and I bought it years ago specifically hoping that the sword would eventually be added to the elementalist.
But at the same time… good crap has that thing gone up in value! A small part of me is hoping the sword skill suck and I can cash in on it. >:D
i want anything that gives me proper wind magic on air attunement, instead of lightning stuff. right now, only focus (and one staff skill) has air spells that are about wind instead of lightning.
blind never worked on bosses anyway, since it had a 90% chance of not doing anything. if anything, blindness is getting buffed by now being considered a control effect.

Thank you for these thoughts. If these ideas have already been brought up before I did not seem them and so I am replying in this thread instead of the possible past threads.
(1) If we want the camera to point down at a sleeping character we would need the camera to know about the emote happening. On top of this right now, from my understanding, most players who do screenshots use /sleep in order to get their character out of the frame. If we were to change this functionality we would want to give players another alternative to hide their character.
(2) I personally like this idea.
(3) How close is closer?
(5) Camera orientation changing seems like it would be very jaring when in combat. I would be curious to hear your ideas for a control scheme for this.
(5b) Would this be like a ‘lock on target’ look-at?
We need a first person view. Either a key bind or the ability to zoom in past our character.
Also, camera bouncing in tight area’s. Please, this gets dizzying and hinders our ability to see what we are doing. A first person view may fix this.

Speculation] new Fire tech = pyromancer spec
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: BrunoBRS.5178
the tech seems mostly just to manage excess particles, and it’s not fire-specific. i doubt it’s a hint at a specialization, though it’s not impossible that they might try to use this tech on new skills to optimize the game.
i was hoping this would be a thread that lets me turn off ally targeting with the press of a button for when i’m fighting.
nope, it’s a thread that wants a feature that makes no sense in GW2’s system.
can i talk to you about our lord and savior Stability?
Except they’re changing stability across the board to not be as completely effective.
thus putting it more in line with things like resistance, which also don’t grant you complete immunity.
Not in game yet, but you can check Dulfy’s blog for a preview code
http://dulfy.net/2015/02/25/gw2-upcoming-gemstore-items-from-feb-24-patch/Oddly enough, I’m dreading the day they add this.
nothing odd about this. this thread is showing, everyone and their mom will have these silly wings when they come out, and they’re by far the most obstrusive back piece (or equipment) they ever added. i dread the norn mesmers having these wings.
i wonder what other interesting things we’ll get march 10. stability changes are coming “much sooner than we think”, after all.
i just find it ridiculous that someone would write off an entire profession because of a gross misconception and random assumptions (i still don’t know where the hell people got dagger from, or worse, in your case, assumed it was a melee weapon, when dagger offhand has as many melee cases as they have ranged cases).
it’s like saying ranger is a ranged-only profession if they had only announced longbow, sword, dagger, and we’d seen gameplay of someone using shortbow.
I have to say your rather ugly response surprised me. Again, what does it matter why or what I play to you? Even if I’m totally wrong, and you’re totally right . . . so?
The question asked is what you will do or play?
I answered. There’s no need to jump off the deep end because you didn’t like my choice or reasoning behind it.
Please get over it.
Again, I will not be playing the class because it appears melee based. Now excuse me while I watch more videos of Rytlock use all those wonderful abilities at ranged.
Not.
i don’t have to get over anything, it’s your loss.
i’m just pointing out you’re wrong, which other people also have.
as for rytlock, his trailer shows 2 skills. two. meanwhile we have at least 5 confirmed ranged skills (more if you count ranged skills that teleport you to melee range).
but again, your loss. i’ll also not play ranger because it’s a ranged class, ohwait.
In a more competitive tournament worthy game like Smash Brothers 4 by Nintendo you’ll notice they removed this type of mechanic for their latest smash bros which was designed with a ranked mode and an E-sports scene they’re finally ready to support,
sidetracking a bit, but lolno.
smash still has random effects (even if you go no items, final destination). the reason they removed tripping was because it was kittening annoying, not because it was random. if they didn’t like random, they wouldn’t have made the villager’s Dair change damage based on the amount of turnips he hits you with (which is completely random and out of the player’s control).
as for supporting the scene? you mean the guys that confirmed they have no interest in doing any balance patches, ever? the guys that said they will do no post-launch development once they’re done with the DLC character that they had to come up with just to give people a reason to buy both versions of the game? please.
anyway, more serious answer:
condis started out designed as something too “on the side”. you only have one real stat that affect everything about it, no way to mitigate it, and some random skills sprinkled here and there that outright remove them.
then people got good at dealing condi damage. really good. the devs’ initial answer to this was buffing condi removal options, mostly. the initial problem (you only need one stat to be a condi dps character, over the 3 stats you need to be a power dps character) remains.
resistance is there to act as a middle ground between “suck it up” and “outright wipe them from my bar with no rhyme or reason”. it’s a condition-prevention boon, and it can help slow down the powerful effects of big condi stacks without outright cleaning up the condi bar and wasting the condi guy’s effort.

At least some rocks somewhere in tyria can be picked up and used for a special fire spell as an elementalist
edit: nvm, found it:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Boulderonly on guild wars, there’s a separate wiki page on rocks and boulders, and the two have different info.
Incorrect. My ele picks up rocks and turns them into meteors all the time in GW2. It acts just like the spell from GW.
…that’s my point.
there’s a page on the wiki called “rock”, and it shows the “rock” environmental weapon, but no mention of the elementalist skill.
then there’s a page called “boulder”, and shows literally the same environmental weapon, except this time it has the freaking elementalist tooltip.
i’m criticizing the wiki having multiple pages on something this trivial, and the pages not even having the same information.
You said you thought it was scrapped…
Rock is an item you buy, I believe. Boulders are the ones lying around. So I guess technically you pick up rocks called boulders. Small boulders…
i did, 3 posts before the one you quoted.
the post you quoted was me saying how pointless this page is when this one exists.
then again, it’s more ANet’s fault for having “rock” as an environmental weapon in exactly one location in the whole game, and using boulder for everything else.
can i talk to you about our lord and savior Stability?
Personally I don’t see anything yet which is ‘alarming’ in the revenant traits. The only thing which ‘alarms’ me is the statement made in the mmorpg.com article which said ArenaNet weren’t creating legend-based trait lines because they wanted to force players to legend swap as often as possible rather than focus on one. But here we have two revealed legend-based trait lines. Mmm.
Do we? I see one trait that actually goes with a Legend. They may have similar themes and synergy, but in no way do you have to equip Jallis to get use out of their Toughness line, nor do you have to have traits in the Toughness line to make use of Jallis.
To clarify, I didn’t mean trait lines with traits which only affected a single legend. That would be … odd for this game. I said legend-based, not legend-restricted.
Corruption is clearly based on Mallyx and retribution on Jalis. If you were keen on being as tanky and conditiony as possible you’d probably trait up both lines. I was not expecting that based on the mmorpg.com article.
Each legend has it’s own playstyle focus but so does each trait line, similar to the current professions. Traits are there to reinforce and augment your base selection of skills as you see fit in your setup. If you use jalis. but want to be more tanky you can opt for the retribution line, but if you like jalis and want more damage you may opt for another trait line.
Keep up the discussion of active vs. passive traits though as it’s good feedback and something we talk a lot about internally.
i think the main concern you guys need to worry about, as evidenced by some of the discussion in this thread, is to not make each trait line too obviously tied to each legend. thematic traits that are powerful and very specific are cool, but so are traits that can fit a variety of builds and create interesting builds that weren’t foreseen.
i mean, yeah, you can make a shadow arts S/D thief, doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. similarly, i worry that, for example, a mallyx-centric build will only be obvious maxing out corruption and whatever the profession mechanic line is. you could make an attack-focused jalis instead of putting points in the toughness line, but will it be viable?
as a side note, it must already be on your radar, but this whole discussion of variety, buildmaking, freedom of choice and unforeseen combinations also applies to the revenant utilities, which as of right now are fixed per legend, severely restricting all those pretty words i used a couple lines up.

it’s not a big if, it’s exactly how revenants work at the moment.
Nothing is set in stone right now. Developers own words…
i don’t think you understand the meaning of that. it means it can change, which yeah, i hope it does.
but “big if” means it’s really, really unlikely that something will happen. right now, the most likely scenario for the revenant is having locked skills per legend, as it is the current state of it, and one they’re happy enough with that they’re showing to the public. it’s the literal opposite of a “big if”.

There’s still a chance they’ll have extra abilities per legend that can be exchanged. That feedback has been heard and noted. I just hope they take it seriously. Every weapon+legend combo being the exact same is really the only major turnoff I have with the class. Here’s to hoping. Luckily they’re early enough in the development to really do whatever they want to.
yeah, i’m hoping they change based on feedback, but treating the current iteration, the one they’re publicly demoing, a “big if” is silly.

i don’t see why people assume only one weapon can be added.
two one-handed weapons provide the same amount of skills as one two-handed weapon. hopefully this means mesmer gets something more than just shield. another melee option, plz
Artificer.
This to me sounds the best.
not happening, as it’s already a crafting profession, and ANet doesn’t need legitimately confusing things to fix for new players.
i hope they show it next week, it’s one of the things i’m most curious about.
inventor is too boring. it needs to be something that embraces the close quarters steampunk madness while still sounding like something you’d find on a guild wars profession roster.
sadly, i have no idea what that could be.
only hammer, mace, and axe offhand (there are more uses of axe as a ranged weapon in GW2 than as a melee weapon) are truly confirmed. sword is a given, based on trailer, staff is speculated, and dagger is “i think i saw that guy off screen using one”.
and even if all of those weapons were melee, most professions have 2 or 3 ranged options.
but whatever, decide ahead of time that it’s a melee focused profession (because GW2 doesn’t already have that)
Is there a reason you’re getting so bent out of shape about my answer? You asked a question, and I gave you my response. Also, the LiveStream videos showed all melee combat in some, way, shape or form.
What does it matter to you if I do or don’t play the new class? I did decide ahead of time, based on the evidence presented from various sources.
My apologies if that’s not to your liking.

i think ANet is starting to shy away from free server transfers because those things throw WvW out of balance like nothing else and make the experience unfun for everyone (both the now-dead servers and the stacked servers where half the people can’t play because of queues)
old map completion and new map completion are separate, and so are the masteries involved.

I think axe would probably be my top pick for Guardian. Sword in offhand would be pretty cool, too, but with other classes getting full 5-skill options, I’d expect a little more than just that.
I totally forgot about the axe! Yes, I want that, give me that!
am I the only one that wants to see a bow being used in melee? if we can have a GS and a hammer being used in range, why not?
And (jokes aside) I don’t think that’ll ever happen. You can throw a GS/Hammer (or channel magic through it) to do relative damage, smacking someone over the head with a bow wouldn’t be nearly as effective. It’d hurt, but it’s nothing a mace (or a quarterstaff) couldn’t do. Which, speaking of… Give us dem melee staves, ANet.
be more creative than smacking people with a bow. it could be a close quarters, wide angle magic weapon, sorta like guardian staff.
Oh. I don’t know. The fact the weapon choices are mace, sword, axe, hammer, dagger, and staff kinda send me a clue.
The videos of the revenant in melee combat kinda helped too.

some type of mixture between these two… yes everyone will say we don’t need another plant bow but it wouldn’t be plant it would be wood. actually thats what bugs me about a lot of sylvari/nature themed stuff in the game… its always planty and not tree-like or wooden and branchyas for the other stuff i could care less i just want a bow!
dunno why people like overdesigned futuristic bows, but eh.
but urgoz bow, come on, there are plenty of options already to choose from. here are two.
and hell, there’s this short bow if you really need a bramble bow.
i’m sorry you’re disappointed. ANet isn’t about to scrap this release and summon cantha and tengus within weeks though.
i, for one, am looking forward to it.
considering we’re the slayer of an elder dragon, commander of the pact, and brothers/sisters in arms with destiny’s edge, we’re comparable to them. i wouldn’t say we’re uber powerful like a DBZ character that gets progressively stronger like, well, leveling, but more in that we’re extremely skilled and competent.
