Oh comeon. Its obvious hes talking about the build by the same name. Its not hard to figure that out. Spend 20 seconds thinking about what he could mean before switching to ridicule mode.

The current meta revenant build is refered to often as the Malyx Revenant. As its the most common legend used. There are different variations of this build but all of them have malyx as a stable to it. Its just a name in this case. Hes not saying hte stab is COMING from the malyx line.

Meta is Shiro/Glint.

Free rezz every 45 seconds? From what?

Radiant Revival turns all your nice cleave damage into an easy/free res, and basically the only counters to it are timewarp stomps or CCing all revivers/moving the downed body with launches. I would be very surprised if the trait remains untouched with the next balance pass.

Sometimes I think that the only people that Mallyx are too busy enjoying mallyx to come here and complain.

I stopped enjoying Mallyx in the moment where they decided to cut his cojones aka no self inflicted condi, no condi copy, weaker utilities and healing skill.

Before he was balanced around hoarding as many conditions as you could and dont explode under them. Now that condi copy is gone you no longer want these condi to be left on you but you still transfer condi from allies to yourself and healing is still based for extra hp per condi. Elite is completely useless and Mallyx with corruption line doesnt make much sense anymore. Its quite hard to enjoy Mallyx if you played it in beta.

Impossible odds doesn’t work like swiftness in combat. It is way faster than swiftness during combat, meaning better disengage and chasing ability.

Also it lasts 9 secs on 50 energy and recharged in 10 secs (50 energy = 10 sec to recharge), so the up-time is not as bad as you try to make it be.

I said OOC. And the cost of it is to spam aa olny and when you actually have to use stunbreak you wont have energy resulting in wopps they bursted my kitten situation. So its not all that good as you trying it to make out to be.

From what i noticed about viper rev (had match 2 days ago against rom, dinsch and someone else from orng) dinsch was actually carried quite hard by rom to survive when i pushed on him. The build may be great for high pvp but for soloq i would stay away from it. Too squishy on it own.

I lolled. GS op? For real? You do realize that elite specs wasnt supposed to be stronger than core, right? They were mean olny to alter playstyle. If base rev issues wont get fixed like lack of 25% move speed/access to swiftness and fury, we will run into issues in future with new elite specs as they all will be worthless in comprasion to Herald.

Our mechanic is around utility skills, we cant just swap one trash skill for another one bc thats how they made revenant and for that reason all legends gotta be viable.

Utility skills = class mechanic in case of revenant. Imagine playing mesmer with half broken shatter mechanic.

If you hadn’t noticed, you have Shiro too for movement. Impossible Odds gives you a constant source of Superspeed. And you have access to Fury outside of Herald through the Invocation traitline. There are alternatives to Herald (though I admit are not AS good) that you can use, though I do admit Anet kinda pushed themselves into a corner with the utilities for Revenant. Though the swiftness problem could be somewhat fixed by making Staff #5 give swiftness during that charge.

Impossible odds is costly as f and ooc it works like swiftness which is olny 33%.. I can get the same effect from Glint for just -1 upkeep.

The fury you speaking about require constant swapping legends for 5sec fury which is not really a smart move as sometimes you want to stay in the legend longer rather than spam stuff and hope for the best. Meanwhile as a herald i can keep perma fury without any issues whatsoever.

Im not sure how Surge is supposed to help with swiftness either. Movement skills are not supposed to be affected by chill/cripple/swiftness/slow/quickness/superspeed.

We have 2 traits in devastation adept that doest exactly the same.. One provides 150 ferocity (10% crit dmg) for wielding offhand, another provides 10% damage in stacks while wielding sword.

One has to go as it doesnt make much sense right now and we can fix this “minor” issue by adding +25% move speed trait there. Shiro could give fury for using his utilities instead of might and 2 major issues are fixed pretty much.

And imo as i said utility skills are our class mechanic. We dindt get more than 3 utility skill per legend as they were supposed to come out as bundled pack of viable skills with synergy between them. How it turned out everyone see.

Mallyx since rework doesnt know what it want to do. Ventari healing is trash and the legend itself lack sustain. Jalis wants to be tank but even Shiro our supposed dps&mobility legend does it better. We suffer from half broken class mechanic.

That pretty much sums your response for 2 coppers.

On top of that, condi duration is not necessary at all. People lived without it and been doing fine. Nothing changed here. The condi application made my day. Its like i could tell to deal power damage you need power application. You pick up weapons which are specialized at dealing conditions and that is pretty much.

And maybe you dont know but balancing around few “pro” teams vs majority which is soloq is not really smart way to promote “esport” or pvp in general.

Just a quick look;

  • Power damage is soft countered by;
    toughness
    vitality
  • Power damage is hard countered by;
    Protection, blocks, blinds, evades, weakness, slow (rare)
  • Power builds need 3 stats to be effective at it job; power, precision, critical damage
  • Condition build is soft countered by vitality
  • Condition build is hard countered by;
    Massive amount of cleanses, which not every class has access to. Slow (rare) and resistance (rare+can be stripped)
  • Condition build doesnt care how much toughness you have, they do not care if you have protection up. They also dont give a kitten if they have weakness on themself as it doesnt reduce their damage. Condition damage ticks during evades/blocks/invuls once applied and the damage it does is nothing to sneeze at. Since june patch vul also increase condition damage.
  • Condition build in reality need olny one stat which is condition damage allowing them to go defensive while still dishing out insane amount of damage. Expertise and precision is not really neecesary to make it work as some people claim it to be. On crit traits can trigger just fine with smart usage of int sigil.

Now the thing is.. Cause vul increase condi damage, why protection doesnt reduce it? Why condition damage is still allowed to bypass toughness? Why they olny need to stack one stat in order to work and dish damage nearly on par with power builds and at same time being allowed to go for stats like toughness/healing while if you try to stack olny power on a power build you be hitting like a wet noodle?

Try taking Herald off any Power build and see how it goes.

It loses dps, utility, mobility, everything.

Even Condition spec need Herald line for the F2.

So Revenant is DEPENDING on Herald to be functional.

I lol’d. Every class is now dependent on their trait spec to do their elite specs, all of which are more powerful than the normal classes. It’s a trade-off which everybody has had to do.

Warriors arent. Berserker sux balls. Neither thieves really as dd mostly changes playstyle from cheese invis dp spammer to evade dancer.

Also rev is new. Has lower amount of utility skills (12 to 20 for core) so its not really wise to leave most of his stuff on trash tier. We have lower amount of utility skills for a reason which doesnt hold up really in current state.

Most of them arent really stuff to improve..i excepted redesing tbh.

1. Auto is fine atm

2. It quite hard to hit 2x stationary target, it doesnt really happen often unless its pve where positioning is rewarded with sweet 22k crits every 2sec. The nerf is pointless as hammer with nerfed CoR will become useless. It already struggle in spvp due to it desing like ranger lb cause you want to stay as far as possible yet you gotta stand on circle to capture stuff. On top of that unlike ranger lb you cant stand on ledged and pewpew du to how CoR work. Its more of a teamfight weapon. I agree with red circles tho cause right now i dont know if CoR is coming from someone on my team or enemy.

3. Not being able to use insta cast skills is a bug and the skill cap is quite high already. How often you land it on max range? Its not easy to predict player movement.

4. Thats something i agree on. Defensive skills should be inta and that apply to all classes, not just rev.

5. I would reduce it to 3/4s where you summon a hammer and one sec later it drop like mortal toolbelt skill.

You can’t actually tell me you think this is a nice and well designed weapon, just because you can deal good damage with it. It’s clunky, full of bugs and has boring and easy made up skills.

Which weapon is hard to use and bug free?

There’s no weapon in the game that is hard to use. A very wierd question honestly since skills in this game aren’t designed to be hard to use.
As for bug free: None, but basically any weapon has less bugs than hammer on revenant.

Sword mh is just as bugged as hammer. In general nearly all rev stuff suffer from the same issue – we have to fight not olny with the enemy, but also with terrain cause someone decided its cool idea to release tons of abilities that will never hit on unevent terrain. Even chaotic release miss on stairs.

I would like to hear what you would change on hammer tho. I personally find it fine as it is. Mace by far is the worst weapon for me.

Revenant need more cleanses imo. Especially Mallyx.

Mallyx is fine, with Demonic Defiance, FoN, and Pain Absorption

It’s pegeon-hole into one play-style, which is try to stack boon duration and spam Elite.

I really think Mallyx need a way to transfer conditions.

The heal skill of Mallyx is very weak compare to Necro’s too. I say it should grant resistance, duration depending on how many conditions on the character.

Kinda funny how some people stealing my idea from my OP thread…hahah. It hurts.

Whats the deal with mobility that fails most of them time? If you could slap cd on it you can now fix it. Sry not can..you have to cus its gamebreaking to see people teleport on places where pt simply fails to follow.

agree that glint is pretty much mandatory, because the other legends don’t really synergise well enough, and except for shiro, are a little weak.

I think about Glint in a different way. The overall synergy between legends is good assuming they work as intended. Glint kills the spirit of legends due to boon stacking. Just for example as Shiro youre not supposed to stay in fight too long. Jump in, do few quick strikes and jump ou. Swap to Jalis and go ahead in melee facetanking opponents. Thats how in theory it should work. In practice howered due to the amount of protection we can get+400 toughness from trait during IO we completely change how Shiro plays allowing him to facetank stuff as well. Thats just one example.

revenants needs to be nerfed as they are sustainable as hell!
and thats coming from a main revenant player

Theres two things that need to be gutten olny. Shield trait and Glint might stacking. Both should be in the same tier. Revenant sustain is actually a poop if you dont take damage during Glint heal.

Without Devastation

Devastation is underwhelming in pvp. I rolled invocation over it and never looked back. ALl day long crits, stunbreak+condi cleanse on swap, some little healing from using energy skill. Paired with retribution and herald (enh bulwark) thats some really good stuff there. Deva line cant keep up in current state. Going dev/retri/herald over invo/retri/herald in pvp is a massive dps loss.

Also generally speaking if you want to build up for maximum dps output its obvious that you pick traitline that boost it. You dont pick up retribution to increase dps but to increase your sustain.

Try taking Herald off any Power build and see how it goes.

It loses dps, utility, mobility, everything.

Even Condition spec need Herald line for the F2.

So Revenant is DEPENDING on Herald to be functional.

While i dont completely disagree the reason why condi rev takes herald is shield and shield trait to increase survival. Give that two things to base rev and nobody will spec condi rev into herald anymore. Power rev is kittented tho as Jalis is not fuctional so he needs Glint. Then theres also lack of 25% movement speed tho..

I think you are overestimating the frequency at which they will add more elite specs.
I don’t think we will see anything new before a couple of years.

We may get new elite spec..at the end of 2016. They cant even balance current old stuff let alone new elites they just released. Revenant should get base ranged condi wep tho. It feels unfinished in current state and forcing everyone in the future to use elite spec to get optimal condi build is a no no.

It is easy to organise, the events are simple. But there are too many people who do not listen to the commanders or do not wear DPS gear or use buff food.

You cant base open world event around 60+ players all listening and wearing zerk gear with food buff. It wont happen ever. Its not a freaking raid.

The thing is as soon as you balance it for the worst possible players it becomes a snooze fest for any half decent player like every event in core tyria.

Reality is that majority of players sux so you cant balance it around guilds. Or simply make it a guild event and move collections elsewhere.

I’m more concerned with the high sustain that comes with that type of damage. High damage is fine by me as long as it’s high risk. Unfortunately, Revs get both.

My general response to the bundle:

  • The Soul River glider creeps me out. Non-starter.
  • The Sniper outfit I wanted. Until the horrid clipping on Charr. If the toxic alliance-era gas mask can account for ears and other helms account for horns, why can we not get headgear designs to account for both? And then there’s the shoe clipping. Toeclaws go right through the buckles. …Y’all didn’t even try.
  • I don’t need RNG dyes.
  • I have enough Makeover Kits that I don’t use. I don’t need another.

I was actually considering getting the bundle, at first, but the poor quality issues and extraneous fluff make it a no-go.

I LOL so much when you decide to increase sword damage even more, despite it’s already the Top~Top 2 damage weapon in the whole game.

Sword 2 damage was nerfed and for no real reason as 150 range increase doesnt not justice 34% nerf. And sword offhand? Counteratatck need to be brought in line with other similiar skills. One question..who the f runs sword offhand and if they do how often you see someone using shacking wave? Noone. It deals lower damage than first strike of auto and immo doesnt make up for it.

Your balance suggestions are completely absurd. You’re clearly a rev-only player that have no idea (or don’t care) that those balance suggestions not only affect rev, but all the other classes, in all the stances of the game.

Almost all your “balance changes” are not for balancing at all, but suggestions just to make revenant even more overpowered. As a revenant player, I’m glad that no one actually takes topics like this serious.

Actually i havent played rev for a few days. Went back to core ranger and wrecking people still (even other revs). Im guessing you think Ventari, Jalis and Mallyx are fine in current state? Cus i pretty much nerfed herald by making a choice between extra dmg from boons/shield trait/might stacking.

And im still up to remove cd on PT and just raise it cost. It completely useless as it basically never work. I rather get a leap honestly.

Condi rev needs to be toned down in pvp

Whats need to be toned down in case of condi rev? Cus i literally laugh at them while running 0 cleanse outside of legend swap. They have some torment and that is. Try to fight ele or any decent thief and tell me how it went. Its just a torment bot in current state.

1 Swift – i know its exo+panic strike in once. This trait is lackluster in current state tho, havent seen anyone using it in pvp and i doubt it get much used in pve either. The olny place where i can see it being used is yolo in wvw with hammer. It need something extra for sure

2. Not any less punishing than jade winds/forced engagement. Given it huge cast i found it to be quite weak..the olny time i use it is to move downed body from pvp point other than that its feels lackluster for it huge tell and cd. I dont feel rewarded for landing it by any means

3. Malicious is useless in current state as it can trigger at random aegis and poof gone. 2 attacks doesnt mean much to rev either as we are multihit class in general. This change is basically no different to signet mastery from warrior that activates signet of might for unblockable 6sec effect+provides 100 precision and has 20cd. And yeah i was thinking about swift+malicious as execution line desing when +1 someone
Ps. i have no issues with dh due to hammer ;o

4. Olny the passive one, yeah. Howered dont you agree that in current state this trait is well..useless?

5. Thats necro job after all. Boon corruption is meant to provide extra pressure to heavy boon classes

6. Old EtD wont come back

7. As crazy as it sounds (and im aware of what slow does) it has high energy cost and works olny in melee range. After all how often do you use impossible odds for longer than 5seconds? My vision of that skill was to fight “face to face” enemies like a true dwarf instead of dancing around to prevent incoming damage. Purpose of this skill is to reduce sustained damage/give more reaction time for a burst. Rite purpose is to nullify burst completely if you pull it out before a burst.

Well tbh i went to wvw and runned into 20 man zerg. Casted UA and dindt recived any hit once. There is something off with the evade not playing properly. Some fields apply condi and that is the interesing part.
