Jalis also lack a real stunbreak, so no, i completely disagree with Jalis increasing your survivability cause enemy can 100-0 you under cc the moment you swap out of Glint. Jalis feels sort of fine in pve cause hammers offers insane heal potential in group of mobs (and that is literally the only reason to pick him up apart from dps boost) but in pvp hes simply horrible.

While I am grateful that Anet heard myself and others’ requests for Kalla Scorchrazor, it is a real bummer she gets bow and now GS. So many missed opportunities for a unique Greatsword playstyle with Revenant… instead we just get more Pew Pew Pew. Most unsatisfying playstyle in the game, imo.
Dragonhunter 2.0 but with shorter range cus.. shortbow usually has 900 range or so. Who tf need that kitten? How am i supposed to feel when i take a look at Kella statue where she wield greatsword i cant use despite channeling her avatar? Dragonhunter 2.0 because….? You know nothing about the weapon skills or utilities…. I guess because it’s heavy armor and has a bow of some sort it means it’s automatically the same as another spec. Just like how Ele’s is going to be Mesmer 2.0 because light armor and sword. Yup that’s totally how it works. Also, the spec is supposedly ranged condi so I have no idea how you’re getting Dragonhunter out of that. Although, something tells me logic isn’t all that important here.
How are you supposed to feel when you look at some random statue in game? Idk. Spend less time looking at statues I guess if they’re going to bother you that much. Seems like an odd thing to get torn up over.

That said if its condi it makes even less sense considering how Kalla died – by poisoned dagger. Shortbow goes against her lore, she wasnt using shortbow at all, she was using greatsword. Its like Jalis using a rifle and Shiro using maces or scepter+focus. It doesnt kittening fit theme wise. End of story.

They don’t need to delete revs, they need to remove elites from pvp and balance
considering rev needs it’s elite spec for anything even close to a viable build, i feel removing dragon stance would be akin to deleting the class.

It was trash in beta, it was trash on release and now it is in even worse shape cause for whatever reason devs didnt nerfed stuff that should be nerfed (stab on dodge as example) in herald and decided to hit core rev even harder. Its been overpowered since day 1 and they dont see it as issue cus 4k crits and 50% slow uptime when trained vs class that no real means of condi cleanse is totally balanced.
Also worth note the fact that tooltip wise this skill is much weaker, it even says only 1sec slow when you steal it.

3) In order to balance Rev around having no energy cost on weapon skills, ANet would probably increase cooldowns even more.
I dont really care for the rest of you said but.. what? Have you compared cds to other classes and what they bring? Other classes have the same or even shorter cd’s with no extra cost behing them and in my cases they bring far more utility as well. Just compare war shield to rev shield, it some sad joke.
Rev wep skills were not only nerfed in cd’s, they were also directly nerfed in damage damage etc to stop please cus right now they arent even strong. Just compare s/s rev to scrapper hammer. Its like day n night.

The other day I was thinking about this same subject and came to the same conclusion. Furthermore it could be the opposite of what thieves have. Thieves have no cds on weapon skills but they do have them on their utility slots. Maybe that should be the other way around for revenants.

Finally got back around to reading up on this thread, just go too serious for me, imma just go back to flinging hammers at people in wvw >.>
Here you got it right with Rev, it’s the only place where you could call it “good”. And that’s the only thing I’ve been doing as well since some of the PvP overnerfs didn’t make it to WvW. The occasional 9k with CoR on glass cannons is fun but most of the time you just keep landing 3k’s (Yes with CoR and while using Zerk/Marauders) because so much people is using tank gear like Minstrels and Trailblazer.
Please see above posts as to why Rev is “good” in places other than PVP (Yes WVW is PVP)
Revenant is outclassed in any role. The only reason why anyone would play rev nowdays is either they are being a masochist, some tryhard or some yolo full zerk spamming cor in wvw for lulz big nambars. Thats it, now stop spreading misinformation and go somewhere else.

I think that was exactly the original design intention.
Then they nerfed it, claiming that they didn’t think it was good design for the majority of the damage to be autoattack.
Then they massively buffed thief autoattacks, on the principle that thieves should be able to use their initiative for defence and mobility rather than for DPS.

Anet dropped the ball on the very small number of weapons that Rev could choose from. Otherwise, the weapon ‘funness’ wouldn’t be a problem. Prehaps sword has quirks and is an extreme example, but it’s not really all that different from the way most weapons on other classes work. If Revs get a few more weapons, and they will, not an issue. It’s expected in a way as well; this class hasn’t had 5 years of play and tweaking the others have.
You mean they had 5yr experience and they wouldnt do stupid desing decisions like rev has? Yeah.. and its not like other classes are in better shape or smth. I would consider ele/war to bee a rework from the ground cus theres no middle ground for them to be balanced. Espesially warrior who rely a lot on numbers and results as either up or op.

Revenant’s problems are in PvE and spvp, not WvW.

If you’re using hammer for roaming you’re doing it wrong anyways. And revenant shouldn’t be roaming after the nerfs made shiro and rev heals all but useless.

I think roaming is a part of that, no? Arguably the only fun part for a lot of people.I know what you meant, but if Revenant is only good in blob vs blob, then I think the class does suffer in WvW to some extent.
Roaming in WvW is about as important as duels are in spvp. Fun for some people, but not the objective of the game format.
The match ups are won by zergs taking up and defending objectives. Roamers have a marginal impact on that on any highly populated and active server.
Blob vs blob is just <yawns>. Pretty much anything can be viable there. Grab guardian with lootstick and enjoy your loot.I actually played ranger in blobs and the only useless thing i had going for me there was pets who died right of the bat. Lb is stll useful due to its insane range and solid dps from far range, trait for pierce and there ya go. Also dem sweet mauls.
..Then again if you wanna talk about ranged weapons dragonhunter says hi with his bow that provides far more than rev will ever do in current state.
My point is simple – ranger longbow has amazing synergy within it kit, only 5 feels out of place. What kind of synergy hammer has going on apart from being a cor bot? Its just a bunch of random skills tossed on one weapon.
And roamers are far more important than you think. While your blob is busy at w/e you do, a group of 5 roamers is taking your t3 tower. You also needs camps to upgrade stuff, get supplies and what not, going to camp with whole blob is a waste of time. If anything you only show the problem with rev – hes worthless outside of zerg open pve zones/wvw blobs and that is definitely not acceptable state.
If i was all about blob stuff i would roll necro/ele.

I came from druid to Herald because hammer damage is hilarious in comparison to rangers longbow. But maybe that isn’t your cup of tea?
well this is a problem with rangers long bow it has been nerfed into the ground. i mean honestly its big nasty almighty 5 is an aoe cripple with kitten tier damage. i mean it should be a weaker version of meteor storm but nah its just an aoe cripple with a long cast time and moderate to long CD.
You also forgot the part where the ranger loses half his HP to retaliation from Barrage while the people he cast Barrage on barely lose 20% of their health at best.

Also, Ranger has the most wanted healer build and one of the best condi builds in the game right now (with a really easy rotation). I think it’s fine that they don’t have the best ranged weapon in terms of DPS even if it’s iconic.
Aragorn was a ranger. And id take longbow over this crap hammer anyday anytime. What to not love? Low cd stealth? Low cd knock? Low cd channeled burst that track people in stealth? Literally the only thing which sux on lb is 5, nothing else. Pre hot i enjoyed lb a lot, espesially at top of sm and eotm (for obvious reason).

You’re asking for a massive rework of the class, that’s going to take a long time to code and implement.
Honestly, I don’t think Anet have the time or money to put that much effort into reworking a class that could be ameliorated with a couple of tweaks.Honestly its not that much work as it looks like. What you need to do is determine what cd’s you want on these utility skills. They could do that in 1 patch and from that point tweak it. What would take some work is rebalancing upkeep skills. Also Glint sorta works like the descripted model here if you havent noticed it yet.
I am sick of these cd’s+energy cost for whatever reason they have there. Either cds or energy cost, not both. Jalis taunt was nerfed hard this patch for a mere 10 energy cost decrease.
Actually Revs are fine atm pending how well the Ventari build pans out.
Right now it’s looking like a REAL support role class. People are seeing insane results with the build.
I didnt pick rev to play some freaking supp. Right now guardians feels like the real class i was interesed in that has everything – strong burst (and dps), reliable condi clear, reliable, healing, reliable stab, amazing sustain in general. The only thing it lack is mobility being honest but that is sorta fiixed with dh spec due to f1, f2 and bow. And rev mobility is not that good anymore either compared to thief/ranger/warrior. If Ji cd was reduced to 20sec it woulf feel like PT cause you aint in Shiro whole time anyway and you probably wont cast it more than once unless you chase someone.
Rev doesnt offer anything of those despite being the “death knight” of gw oriented at mass destruction while guardian is the one whos supposed to be more of a defensive/supp heavy class. Cute how they switched roles here. So no, rev is not fine by any means. Hes worst class in gw. And im not sure why anyone would want to replace chronos/druid with healbot rev even in pve raids.
Go play a DH then because you’re just complaining about nothing. Ele has been pigeon holed into support for over a,year. Rev has for about 2 weeks.
You need to either embrace the changes or pick a new class to play.
p.s. I tried the build and I must say it was a refreshing change of pace. I only got about 670k healing my first go, but I attribute that to my own short comings.

Fact is people like you who complained about rev for no reason apart from l2p issues destroyed the class. First was survival, once that got nerfed, people started crying about mobility which got destroyed as well but it was still not enough. Despite already poor survival and average mobility people started complain about damage. Now rev is left with nothing. Thanks i guess. Its a perfect class to completely redo in current state.

There is a problem. They will never do that as you see with recent Jalis taunt change where they bumbed up cd from 5 to 10cd and reduced energy cost by joke 10. It ended up as huge nerf and yet it still can be reflected so you can taunt yourself, it can be strafed and what not..

What would take some work is rebalancing upkeep skills. Also Glint sorta works like the descripted model here if you havent noticed it yet.
I am sick of these cd’s+energy cost for whatever reason they have there. Either cds or energy cost, not both. Jalis taunt was nerfed hard this patch for a mere 10 energy cost decrease.
Actually Revs are fine atm pending how well the Ventari build pans out.
Right now it’s looking like a REAL support role class. People are seeing insane results with the build.
I didnt pick rev to play some freaking supp. Right now guardians feels like the real class i was interesed in that has everything – strong burst (and dps), reliable condi clear, reliable, healing, reliable stab, amazing sustain in general. The only thing it lack is mobility being honest but that is sorta fiixed with dh spec due to f1, f2 and bow. And rev mobility is not that good anymore either compared to thief/ranger/warrior. If Ji cd was reduced to 20sec it woulf feel like PT cause you aint in Shiro whole time anyway and you probably wont cast it more than once unless you chase someone.
Rev doesnt offer anything of those despite being the “death knight” of gw oriented at mass destruction while guardian is the one whos supposed to be more of a defensive/supp heavy class. Cute how they switched roles here. So no, rev is not fine by any means. Hes worst class in gw. And im not sure why anyone would want to replace chronos/druid with healbot rev even in pve raids.

Choose anything over rev. Rev is good at nothing, even for harvesting thief is better due to superior mobility.

Nobody asked for it from rev community. Literally nobody. This purple junk doesnt even fit with general Ventari theme. Blame devs, not revs. We had mane thousands of suggestion and for whatever reason they decided to give alacrity to revs.. <wutface>

Nobody picked rev to be a support class. I rather have a selfish “death knight” playstyle when it comes to rev. Want to play support heavy armor class? Well theres guardian with light magic and to some extend warrior. At current moment there is literally no difference between rev and guardian, they may have different animations, skills and what not but in the end both are sort of boonbots. Its fine to buff different types of rev such as heal/boonbot but for f sake, he has to be viable as dps killing machine first.

Since almost all utility skills has a cd now (Jalis with 2×10cd), weapon skills cd’s arent shorter in comprasion to other classes either my solution is simple – rework legend swap and energy system.
Unlink weapon skills and utility skills from energy, give them normal ( a bit shorter tho) cd’s like for other classes – something like 45cd for jade winds, 25cd for Phase and 15cd for riposting shadows. Reason for shorter cd’s is the fact that rev is locked into skill package.
Remove legend swap cd and rework traits (in lazy way) by slapping 10 internal cd on stuff like empty vessel so you cant stun break over n over obviously. Add icon on bar so we can know when its up. Let us start up with 100 energy BUT legend swap wont provide any energy anymore nor reset it back to 50 on swap. Basically like thief ini. A slow regen over time.
At this point energy system will be used only for upkeep skills (after some rebalance) and rev no longer will be limited to autoatk for days. For once rev will be able to use skills along with upkeeps instead of being force into autoatk+upkeep. Its rather obvious that energy system has failed otherwise we wouldnt have cd’s on utility skills nor raised cd’s on wep skills.
Also an idea for impossible odds being useless with Chronos around. Remove quickness and replace it with 50% damage buff for the duration.
I know that at first it all sounds like a nerf but in practice its actually a buff. A needed one for a long time already.
Extra bonus could be to spend x amount of energy to gain few sec reduced cd’s for CORE rev as f2 key or expand it into “energy shield” like shrouds.
