welp, trying to arrange some fights, but the people i’ve been told to contact haven’t been online in at least 3-5 days. there is a lot of talk and not enough fighting. a lot of claims of maguuma being only PvF, but i’m just seeing a bunch of hypocrites reading this thread.

Both are good guilds. Paralda has stated before he just like to kitten talk and approves of it on both sides, hence the kitten talk from PYRO…don’t let it get to you. As far as kitten goes, I haven’t really seen much kitten talk from them, and they are good opponents as well.

And you always have to realize that there are human beings behind those online names. They live breathe eat, and hopefully don’t make guild wars their life :P, just like you.

Had a few good fights this week, mostly it’s been a thrashing sadly, it’s not any fun for DB either running over everyone, hopefully next week all 3 servers get a more appropriate match!

I really wish people from DB would quit doing this on the forums. All this flaming all it does is really makes the server as a whole look bad. I respect our opponents whether we are winning by 10k or 300k.

You drunk, bro? This thread was full of Mags crying, before any of us even started. This uneven match brings us no joy. I didn’t even post until page 8, yet you’d see my name dragged into conversations before that. You must be new here. Look at the title of this thread, and you’ll realize how classy your opponents are. lol!

Pro-tip: It’s all in jest. Relax, take off your halo, and enjoy the game.

My opinion: the game is pretty well-balanced now. Most classes (not all) have a few viable builds for PvE, sPvP, WvW…

Many issues have been fixed: events, skill points, glitches. The game is cleaner, and operates better.

CoF is still the easiest way to make money (P1 is a 6-minute run, and pretty boring). They’ve added Fractals, that are still a LOT of fun for me.

They’ve added a fair bit of new content: Fractals, a new map, a few skins etc.

Market is pretty okay; and inflation is not as bad as most other games, and prices are fairly stable (though some griefers on forums may not agree. Personal opinion.)

All in all, the game has changed a lot, and is much more enjoyable than the launch.

There is actually no reason to hurry leveling up in this game. Just walk around, do a bit of WvW, try out a few jump puzzles and explore the world… typically takes 3-4 weeks with casual gameplay to reach level 80…

I usually get bored once I reach 80, so I start a new character…

Before this match-up, I heard Calvin mentioned every now and then in conversations. I have to admit, that raised my expectations so I am quite disappointed to see the real thing right now. The only thing that makes Calvin remotely interesting is that he seems to be the only Dragonbrand player who makes his intentions clear, as opposed to all the passive-aggressive posts from his fellow Dragonwagon passengers. This said, I find that Calvin is overrated as a troll and his provocations are rather crude and unimaginative. In fact, Sol puts a lot more effort into his posts and does not rely on his reputation so much. I’d argue that Sol is an underrated troll but that isn’t relevant to the current discussion. Basically, I’ve seen far better trolls, people who rarely repeat themselves and make their true intentions a lot less obvious. I would equate Calvin with RC Cola. A few people might consider it better than the competition while the majority of Coca-Cola and Pepsi Cola drinkers never even heard of it.

Exactly what I’ve been trying to tell them Mags, but they won’t believe me!

PYRO is on our server so we can’t GvG them. Is BP up for a GvG?

There was a reason why BP asked Yak’s guilds for GvG a few weeks back, and not the Mags guilds. There is nothing BP gains by beating unskilled guilds with bad attitude (PYRO, DARP etc.). Again, you can try.

I’m not really disappointed in the numbers, I’m disappointed that DB runs and turtles in the nearest tower unless they have an overwhelming numerical advantage. You’d think maybe DB could use this week to actually learn to PvP but somehow I doubt that’s going to be the case.

TC and FA decided (independently or not doesn’t really matter to me) they wanted DB to finish last, so they focused us.

This is where your position turns into a whine.

It is the nature of WvW (especially the way matchups work currently) for the 2nd Place Server to be focused. The 1st Place Server will focus their most immediate threat. The 3rd Place Server will focus the best target of opportunity if weak, and the 2nd Place Server if they are in striking distance.

Everybody wants to finish 1st. Nobody wants to finish last. Was DB focused most of this week. Yes. Was the reason DB got focused that everybody decided DB “needed” to finish last? Not at all.

I already said as much. 2v1 play was clearly intended by the devs as per their map design and matchup choices. I’m not really even getting into the reasons why it happened, I don’t care. I’m just saying that it happened and the people saying it didn’t are either lying to us or fooling themselves.

I think people are reading way too much into my comments. I was initially responding to someone who was claiming that DB was not being double teamed, and that TC and FA were fundamentally incapable of doing such a thing.

When people from DB say TC and FA are in a coalition or the like you can understand why that makes DB seem whiny….i would hope you can understand that.

What if I told you that guilds are paying for their own transfers? DB isn’t “bankrolling” anything.

Some are and some are not. I know that my arch nemesis is helping by providing part payment to certain guilds. But his not giving them the whole amount.

Relax guys. He did not say that we’re not losing. You guys are beating us to pulp, beyond doubt. He merely stated a fact that his guild was not concentrating on WvW this week. Not all guilds are doing that.

The core guilds from DB have mostly been fighting just the way they had been for many months. This scoreline is what we’d originally expected when we were coming to T2, before a handful new guilds joined DB.

Personally, I won’t mind flip-flopping between T2/T3, or even going back to T3. Time will tell about the new guilds that joined us – whether they stay, or bandwagon away to the next big thing. To me, it will hardly matter as long as our core stays.

If JQ stabilizes, it’s going to take a massive collapse of either TC or FA (and at least two weeks of demolishing them) for DB to move out.

Things tend to snowball, hopefully JQ does stabilize, but most servers do not. Too many guilds that like to be carried and bail at the first sign of hardship.

The interesting thing about JQ is that they have a large amount of smaller guilds, so a snowball effect is far less likely. During SEA they were ticking at 500+ ppt , granted that SOR and BG called it a match, but stuff like that will help them maintain their ELO. I honostly, as a keen observer of wvw, that if a server goes on to full implosion, it will be BG before JQ. Also, keep in mind that JQ is only around 25k points behind BG….. hardly a massive collapse that is required.

The way im seeing things evolve right now, is that JQ will be in tier 1 for a loooooooong time. Sorry DB, but the math is most definitely not in your favor to reach tier 1.

There’s also the fact that overall, TC and FA are -very- stable servers.

TC got a handful of transfers a couple weeks ago (and I think FA might have as well), but overall, the people who are on TC stay on TC. The same goes for FA. We both have burnout weeks, and we both come back strong every time. We have an incredible amount of “server pride” and most of us wouldn’t transfer off regardless of WvW performance or standing. We’re far more similar than we would probably like to admit. :-P

DB will just have to be careful to avoid the KN scenario. A lot of people transferred to KN with the hope that KN would end up a T1 server. When it became clear that that wasn’t going to happen…KN fell apart. I don’t think DB, as a whole, has massive aspirations for T1, but some of the recent transfers might. If they can hold on to them anyway, that’s awesome. If they can’t, they will just have to be careful that they don’t suffer as a result.

I’m by no means pronouncing doom and gloom for DB, just hoping they don’t end up the latest in a long stream of stuff we’ve all seen before.

DB is more stable than that. The core of DB stays. And that core is enough for us to stay in T2 (most probably in third place). As you rightly mentioned, a lot of us don’t have major aspirations… in fact, we were pretty content with T3 as well. Anyway…

I’m loving the close finish this week. If FA gets a few more transfers, T2 will become the most exciting place to be!
