I get this feeling that DB will be in T2 longer then they intended. Between the competition and glicko, no one is going to T1 unless one of those servers drop.

I could spend the next 6 months in tier 2.

I would rather be a stable tier 2 server than have one week in tier 1 and then lose all the guilds to, what is apparently, a lot of pressure up there.

You and me both. I personally have -NO- desire to be in T1, and I’ve been pretty vocal about that from the get-go.

in this game the Server “rank” just shows how well the coverage is for that server not the skill of the players in that server.

The trick is to not bother about leveling up, and just enjoy the game. Leveling up happens on its own.

Guardian is great in WvW. In PvE, the Ranger is my favorite!

This is all cyclical…. there’s no guarantee that the “balanced” server you’ll move to won’t change a few months after you join.

I suggest sticking with SoS.

Each tier has its own style of gameplay. There’s is no reason to choose one over the other. When servers move to different tiers, the gameplay changes based on relative coverage. I enjoy this system, though I wish it were more fluid.

Having experienced every tier from T6 to T2 in the last few months, my personal opinion is that the lower tiers are more fun. Value of an individual, or a small group, is higher in lower tiers. Skill has nothing to do with tier.

T5 to T7 will be sort of frstrating for a guild like you.

I’d suggest Sea of Sorrows (T4) – they have an excellent, passionate WvW community. When we fought them last, they impressed us with their skill, passion and sportiness.

Yak’s Bend is also a nice server with a lot of WvW focus, though they’re tier 3. I’d stay away from Maguuma, though. Not impressive, and poor sportsmanship.

If you really have to go to lower tiers, IoJ seems to be a good choice.

Results don’t matter as much as passion. VK showed great movement during the fight. You must have excellent cohesion within your guild to achieve that level of coordinated movement. Respect.

It’s true that FA guilds have stood out for me personally in the match up so far. Even when the odds are against us, we like rushing out and fighting… and so far we don’t have a bad win/loss ratio from our previous matches.

Except when we see BT tags… they’ve made us think, learn and improve. Thanks folks for the good fights!

I love TC too. My tertiary guild has been on TC since beta, and I have lots of real-life friends there. I’m just stating my experience so far based on what I’ve seen on the field.

I propose a permanent DB-FA partnership to end all these accusations from TC! Let’s 2v1 them into the third place

FA and DB folks, I’d like to apologize on behalf of the few TC’ers on here who feel the need to put others down at every opportunity. Never, ever, thought that I’d have to apologize for TC folks’ behavior.

Thanks champ. No need to apologize. There’re a deranged few on every server. I’d urge all three servers to not respond to needless provocations, and keep it civil here. Just because one person is a sore loser doesn’t mean that the entire server is like that.

Same goes for SAB accusations. Loki has already stated that they didn’t exploit, and that should be enough. I can’t say it won’t ever happen, because I can’t stop people from transferring over to DB. But if they do exploit, believe me that they don’t have the support of our community. We’ve been playing with NNK for a long time, and they’re known to be good sports, and for their dignified conduct on/off field.

I asked a simple question with a bit of humor in there, our forum warriors must’ve done some work on you lol. Everyone is happy with this match up because it is balanced, we are having great fights and even us roamers are having a great time now that db 2.0 is out of here. I don’t recall us trashing EVERY recruitment thread out there but you should take your own advice or pass it on to your server. Our thread has 3 pages and no trash talking after you left. I don’t believe its a coincidence, go back to db 2.0 and continue to have fun on your way to the top, I’m sure we will still be here when your server becomes unstable.

The scoreline doesn’t tell the full story. I’m still not convinced that DB has the firepower to regularly win this tier. We lost PPT today. And Mon-Thurs is when TC is at its strongest. And FA is always there, right on our heels. Our NA presence has been overestimated, and so have the transfers. We’ll be happy to just stay in T2 for now.

Also, T1 will have larger queues and more skill lag. So, nah, not interested

Wow, DB is leading after the weekend? Must be a first!

It’s still early days, and we’ll have to see where we belong in this tier. The first week usually attracts more players, so we’ll have to wait and see how many numbers we can muster on an ongoing basis.

I’m happy with the level of competition in this tier. TC and FA use much more varied tactics than the T3 servers, so it’s nice to remove conditions other than confusion (lol!) during raids.

T3 doesn’t have so much skill lag and has smaller queues, but the talk-to-skill-ratio is really high there (cough… Mags… cough). So yeah, overall I’m happier. I hope we’ll be able to keep our place in the tier in the coming weeks.

But I must say its nice to be in a tier where your enemies aren’t kittening about X guild/player doing X thing to X person, and having a flame and chest thump war break loose.

Things are always quiet the first week of a new matchup because the final result is actually in doubt for a change. Still though, tier 2 threads are relatively tame compared to others.

I’ll tell you exactly why. Because both times the fighting was not scheduled to start for at least another minute or two.

The agreed format was 25v25 , we had a start time that was agreed by both sides setup via intermediary ( and we were using the servertime as the guide here….. since everyone’s synched to it).

When you setup a contest like this, the rules apply to everyone. It wouldn’t be a fair fight if you’re hitting people ( with superior numbers) while they’re prepping… and that’s exactly what the [bp] people did twice.

Now they’re trying to spin it like we’re bad losers? that we’re forum_warring this like "the mag mewmews that we are " ? I’m man enough to admit when i get defeated, and frankly if it was a case of superior fighting we wouldn’t even be having this conversation. But because you did not follow the rules of the format agreed on, on top of the general disrespect you showed us ( & the assistance) that match is null & void.

That’s why [bp] is just a punk guild that deserves no respect. Keep trying to spin it any way you like… You acted like punks, and now you gotta deal with it.

Given this experience, I doubt if we will. We do GvG to enjoy, practice and further our skill. When we see losing guilds post misguiding stuff on forums, it leaves a sour taste in the mouth. We have been honorable in our dealings, and yet get all this hate when people lose.

That said, if there is any interest, feel free to reach out to Grimaldi. He has less tolerance than most for petty matters/large egos, so please deal accordingly.

Arrangements were made to have 25v25 GvG between our guild and the [bp] guild tonight. Sadly, the players of [bp] did not follow the rules they had agreed upon beforehand for the match. By not following the rules they had themselves agreed upon, [bp] showed a real lack of character, and rendered any results from tonight’s exercise effectively null & void.

Personally I’m disapointed. I had been looking forward to some good competitive GvG action all week long, and then you get :
- Opposing team rolling in with more people than they were supposed to (twice)
- Attacking before the agreed upon servertime (twice)
- Roflestomping your team and removing stacks/buffs prematch and other signs of juvenile lack of respect.

You know, I see people from dragonbrand complain all the time about maguuma & yaks’ claims of db being a low-quality/zerg server. I was looking forward to have a match where we at [iLL]usion could have a direct sample of actual DB fighting power, and see how our merry band of PvX guys would fare in such a matchup. Sadly all [bp] proved today is that they can’t even abide by conditions they agreed themselves, and that they DO need more guys to do anything.

How that paints the DB server as a whole is another subject matter, but I dont think it looks good at all. Keep acting like punks [bp]. I just think it’s sad that your behavior is confirming everything we’ve been saying about DB for 2-3 weeks.

Who cares if DB got new guilds and stuff. It’s only for the greater good. We’ll yet have to see if you guys (DB) can stand up against TC and FA. Everyone know DB have outgrown T3 badly with the stomping the past week. Maybe this will balance the tiers a little bit better. I think KN will fit good in T3 with all the guilds who left, yet I’m pretty sure they can put up a good fight there which might make it a very well-balanced tier. And as I said, DB might fill the KN role perfectly and make T2 well-balanced aswell. We simply have to see if you can even can put up a fight for the 1st place or at least have a good race for the 2nd.

Thursday a.m. pretty much sums up T3 for the last 2 months. DB owns 95% of the maps, and yet they still have 30+ in EB, with 15+ siege, camping the spawn point. This is what T3 is right now, and is simply sad

You should login around 7-11PM EST, if possible. You’ll see lots of exciting, even matches during that time.

This was true for a while. Now sadly even this is no longer true. Logged into EB at 9pm EST last night and we had the outmanned buff. It used to be as you said, good fights, even numbers on a couple maps, but I think at least for YB people have just given up for now.

Tip for Mags and Kain: Yak’s don’t like their yaks killed (I bet a few of them work for PETA!). If you wish to pick up a good fight, take a camp near their spawn and face their wrath!

PYRO took their EK yesterday, sieged it up, and farmed 40-50 of them for badges for about an hour or so. We only lost it because everyone had to go back to mag BL and defend. It’d be nice if YB and DB didn’t push our BL simultaneously every single night, but such is life.

People on the losing servers just resign themselves to a loss and don’t even bother trying.

Then the first place servers wins by a more inflated margin every week because the other servers don’t put out their full forces ever, and less over time.

This. Dragonbrand was able to close a 50+k gap on BP and SoS after being trounced for most of the week in our respective matchups. Maguuma was able to edge out 1st place out of nowhere, if I recall correctly, against us in the lower tiers. Yes, coverage plays a factor, but ultimately it comes down to how much people want it. We could’ve easily “given up” while we were behind.

We never stopped trying against KN, TC and FA during their visits in T3 – our numbers were just not enough, but we were out in force all the time.

Guess some servers are just cut from a different cloth.

I won’t generalize an entire server’s approach, but what you say is so true otherwise. I know Yak’s did try to rally their troops this week, but I’m not sure if there’re many WvW-centric guilds there. I guess their pugs let them down.

I still remember the week we (DB) came back on Web/Thurs against SoS just recently. It felt amazing!

There have been many meetings and conversations in the past week between current Dragonbrand guilds and guilds that are moving to our server or thinking about moving. One of the primary reasons Dragonbrand is so attractive to various guild right now is the stability and lack of inter-personal(or inter-guild) conflict within the server.

There are no guilds on Dragonbrand that refuse to operate on a map when another certain guild is present. There are no egos that refuse to operate on a map when other egos are present. There is a level of civility and politeness that is the norm for the server. No guilds lord it over other guilds. Both BP and NNK for example(the largest NA and SEA guilds on Dragonbrand respectively) ask for help, they do not demand it.

Thursday a.m. pretty much sums up T3 for the last 2 months. DB owns 95% of the maps, and yet they still have 30+ in EB, with 15+ siege, camping the spawn point. This is what T3 is right now, and is simply sad

You should login around 7-11PM EST, if possible. You’ll see lots of exciting, even matches during that time.

This was true for a while. Now sadly even this is no longer true. Logged into EB at 9pm EST last night and we had the outmanned buff. It used to be as you said, good fights, even numbers on a couple maps, but I think at least for YB people have just given up for now.

Tip for Mags and Kain: Yak’s don’t like their yaks killed (I bet a few of them work for PETA!). If you wish to pick up a good fight, take a camp near their spawn and face their wrath!
