Off to the races… Here’s my predictions for the next few weeks, if not months:

DB 2.0 will become solid T2, rising one position to be 3rd just behind FA (they won’t drop back to T3).

Kain will be the new leader of T3 though Oceanic/Asia power, though by a smaller margin than DB 2.0.

YB will widen the gap from SoS to remain in T3.

Mag might be initially excited by new blood in T3 but is essentially the same as YB in coverage and since everyone needs to sleep/work/school/live or at 2 out of 4 of those, we’ll still stay at the lower middle of T3.

Um, DB2.0 is a not accurate. I wish we got that many people from transfers. Not a debate point, just saying what I’m seeing.

But anyways, on to my predictions for the next 4 weeks:
- DB and Kain will flip-flop between T2/T3.
- T2 will become more uneven, with TC decimating the other two servers
- T3 will remain uneven, with even battles during NA prime time, but uneven during SEA time
- Mags/YB will remain in T3, though SoS will mount a serious, but unsuccessful challenge to get to T3

This all depends on the time frame for transfers. DB has been getting steady transfers even since SoS took their NA and you were fighting back from t6. DB 2.0 is pretty accurate if we’re counting from SoS’s population sap, and DB 3.0 if we’re counting from launch til now.

Just play what you want. I never group with people who want me to play a certain role/share gear etc even though I have 5 characters in full ascended. I have found that majority of people who demand mesmers/zerk warrior etc. in a group are n00bs/farmers.

I’ve seen all classes do Fractals 40+. Don’t let n00bs stop you from enjoying your game.

STOP!! i mean it, STOP thinking about ranger and mages as exclusively ranged, Rangers for instance actually do more damage in melee than range but have a ton of kiting tools to boot, Mesmer can go melee or ranged, in fact in each given fight you will go in and out of melee very often with the mesmer, and you also have a ton of group utility skills in PvP and PvE.

likewise don’t think of the thief as a rogue, or even a thief, yes you can use stealth to great effect but there are other builds like venom-share which is done from range mostly.

even the warrior, you can rifle (or bow not an expert) and play a sniper, my friend does that in WvW picking off the mesmers and guardians mostly, pretty effective. (zerg im referring too).

the beauty of all this? unless you wish to posses a legendary or get the ascended rings / amulets and insist these are a must have (which they are not, at least until you get to certain fractal levels but by then you’ll have them anyway) you can make and play as many characters as you like with no grind, no gear catch-up just the fun.

Myself i would recommend you the ranger, mesmer, warrior or elementalist.

I was being harsh sorry for that, and I apologise for taking your post the wrong way.

Not belittling any of db’s actual skill level on a player level, just that in our tier the coverage seems to be the biggest issue, and db simply doesn’t suffer from a problem with it (from what ive experienced as someone who plays in the later hours)… being rolled by db zergs all day regardless of how much effort you put in can make one a little jaded (the odd poster on here or on other forums from db talking about how amazing they are grates on me when from our view point it sure doesn’t feel like ‘skill’ on their part).

Im simply with those who want to see a change even if it means we get another db in the form of Kain, something, anything to get a change (im sure kain does somethings differently to db) and make it a little more interesting.

:) No probs, bud. Those of us who’ve been here long enough on DB know the feeling. As someone mentioned previously, it wasn’t long ago when our behinds were being whooped by T2 servers… I hope the next week is less frustrating, and more entertaining for you guys. Cheers!

The best commanders find a way to make it interesting.

This Sunday, one of the DB commanders, for example, noticed that he had a huge zerg following him. He quickly split the entire zerg into six parts and attacked all areas of the map. There were interesting battles all over, and a few small groups were wiped too. But they took over the entire map in 8 minutes flat. Mad fun!

So yeah, it’s up to us whether we wish to have fun, or zerg. The design is not bad. There are many areas of improvement, no doubt, but I’m happy with the way WvW is structured in this game. And it will evolve, fingers crossed!

yeah, TC has better numbers and coverage. There may be times when we’ll feel helpless, the way some servers feel during our SEA times. I’m still glad, just because there’ll be a change.

Saiyr, you’re right about individual skill. All servers have their share of excellent, average, and bad players – the bell curve applies.

I was talking about group fight meta (or zergballing skill, if you will). Mags are keen students of GvG, so you guys would know what I’m talking about. The meta varies from tier to tier. A particular tactic need not be “better”, but just more appropriate for the tier that a server is in. Something that worked in T4 or T3 may not work well in T2.

It will take a while for us to understand the T2 game. We have played them before, but the dynamics will be different this time, as Exedore pointed out. They may work in our favor (as per him), or not (per my belief). Time will tell.

T2 won’t be easy. The skill level will be higher than we face here in T3 (lol@confusion stacks), and so will be the numbers. Time will tell where we belong.

Pretty sure the drama was left on JQ itself. The guilds transferring to DB are ones who want to be a part of our community.

And we’re not new to drama from other servers. See our threads with Mags, for instance It’s hard to break the unity of a close-knit server like ours. We love our game, and play to enjoy. That will not change.

Our theory is that after we stomped you at NE camp about 30 mins after reset under circumstances that were 100% in your favor, you’re scared. Really scared. Since then, you basically never attack us, even when you have the numbers advantage (which is actually quite frequently tbh). “Stomped” might be too kind a word I guess, it was such an embarrassing wipe that I was sort of surprised you guys didn’t rage-log out of disgust.

[TE] should try to stop hallucinating “50+” zergs to rationalize the reason they never win, otherwise you’ll never improve. Though at this point this is now a trend amongst DB guilds. We got under [BP]’s skin the same way.

TG is scared? I was there in vent when someone PM’d your leader, asking for a GvG right there and then, only to have the pathetic response of ‘we would like to but we have to deal with stuff in our bl’ when the entire yaks bl was owned by yaks (except greenbrair which we were holding out in – funny that), so dont go posting that bs.

The last time [BP] asked for a GvG with them, we faced similar problems. They never turn up and make excuses afterwards. Last week, we waited for them at the location, and they tried to steal hills in the meanwhile.

I know we should, but at the same time, we dont want tbe whole ‘zomg alliance’ accusations. Its like both servers feel it in the back of their minds, but at the same time, they feel dirty if they dare even try. Its like the word ‘co-op’ became a bad word like ‘bipartisonship’.
I guess in hindsight it would be bad as it would be unfair to the othe na players being stuck just inside their spawn zone. Course, at the same time, green would be off the map, so here comes megabyte pushing bob into the container….

I don’t think it’s dirty. It’s just tactics. Complainers will complain about just anything when things don’t go their way.

Good to see positive posts on this match thread so far, save a few weird ones that we always ignore. It’ll be nice to see if the positive vibrations last the week, since it only takes a spark to…

Anyway, all three servers in this tier are presumably in for slaughter next week, so enjoy the match-up while it lasts, folks!

I don’t play a Necro, but I’ve heard they’re great with marks/aoe conditions, and have decent survivability. Maybe someone else could provide better inputs.

Hmmm… a few NA guilds joining DB. While this gives us coverage, this match up won’t be fun anymore due to heightened population gap Unless Yak’s and Mags decide to do 2v1. I guess I’ll havta try out one of those fight clubs, or stick to Fractals this week.

Guardian. Sturdy, has group utility, can do cc/dps/tank at the same time. Engineer is also great, but not very durable.

At first I thought you were just trolling, but I’m honestly starting to think you believe the crap you say. What I don’t get, is that Mag’s NA presence dominates DB’s soundly every single NA primetime. Mag has highest PPT, YB second, and DB trails in last.

If someone points to the Millenium records one more time I think I may go crazy. If you look at the update times, they’re updated during the SEA primetime, and not NA. Obviously, they cannot be accurately applied to NA primetime for this exact reason.

In any case, the point that you completely missed is that Mags NA should be steamrolling the other two servers, given their strength. But even durng times when we’re outmanned, you’re around 300-odd points at most. I’d posted many screenshots earlier as proof, to similar baseless posts earlier.

Mags need a reality check. Fighting on forums and denial is not going to help you improve. Ever see us talk about our matches with TC/Kain/FA? Ever hear us complaining about their superior coverage? We don’t. Learn.

Also, I feel for some reason Yak’s hasn’t been as numerous these past two weeks as they were in our bouts with SoS. I’m entirely unsure why, but it may just be a skewed perception since NA wasn’t exactly SoS’s strength either.

I think someone mentioned earlier that Yak’s have a larger student base or something, and their participation was low this week, in game and on forums. Maybe one of the Yaks could confirm.

I’m noticing something similar, though not all commanders do that.

I’d say this is a passing fad, since in the long run, cap-and-run tactic impacts a team’s score. Commanders will learn and evolve over time.

And actually, my statement isn’t false, all servers have more or less the same Asiatic population (you can check world population when you choose your character, if you haven’t noticed, and it varies, or at least it varied with timezones, and last time I checked all NA servers are at least very high populated during Oceanic/Asian prime time), and like I said, your Asiatic/Oceanic population are just more into PvE and/or other aspects of the game; which is clearly true.

Our asian brothers lock up the reset wins for us and expand the lead and I love them for that.

There was a time when we lost some of our biggest NA guilds because we lacked a strong oceanic presence so if you think any DB players are going to feel bad about having them on our side expect to be disappointed.

I feel nothing but pity for you but keep telling yourself we are an asian server if it makes you feel better.

I was gonna pass up on mentioning this but after reading this I couldn’t help myself.
A couple nights ago when a small group of Mags and I (about 10 of us) took a tower from 4 DB (3 of which were EA). After we had capped the tower the group of EA decided to add me to the party and insult me, accuse me of exploiting and even complained about us ‘zerging’ (lol). Calling us poor sports whilst yourself being just as bad is quite ironic.
(Semi-side note: the guy was so mad he didn’t even ask me to leave party, he LEFT WvW to LA just so he could kick me from party.)
(I also have the name of the person who was raging at me.)

I still think we haven’t seen the full might of Yak’s in the past 2 weeks. Maggies may be the elite server, but I think Yak’s can beat them if they both play to their full potential.

Db will continue to win. Yes it will be while yaks and mag sleeps. Yes it will be mostly with pvd. We know they know, its no ones fault. Im sure even their sea team gets bored just pvding.

Yaks and mag will continue to fight for second, with db deciding who wins ultimately by who they attack during that time.

People will contiue to kitten on this forum about server x vs server y.

The only real way to hurt db would be for a double team during mags and yaks na prime. But, neither server makes alliances and hates them (cept yaks, i heard they are aligned with everyone at this point, at the same time), and i do believe both servers are really just looking for good fights, so will butt yeads with anyone and everyone.

And then the whole thieves and eles op, cake > pie, better tactics, , unclassy sportsmanship, fight club, gvg, guild x sucks, server y destroyed server z zerg with less players, yadda yadda yadda….
