I think they could take a few of those shambling corpses out of the more ‘populated’ areas.
And taking the respawns down a couple notches would be nice. ><
its the heart of enemy territory, its supposed to be packed with mobs, you can solo through carefully, but best to run with a group.
its not that I mind the 33% movement speed, its that only certain classes can get it…..or any passive increases.
I think all classes should have access to it, its just too great an advantage in PvP and WvWvW. and just as a quality of life thing.
All classes should have equal access to such a fundamentally powerful speed increase.
Its targetting the person its either hitting in the face or moving towards, and there is no standard concept of threat in this game like in other MMOs.
Just as there are no cast bars, for a reason, there is no need for target of target, your UI is not supposed to tell you what is going on, you are supposed to work that out from whats happening in the game world.
oh for gods sake, is this an elaborate troll post?
Its a game, get over it.
Posting server rankings while transfers were still open was the worse thing a-net could have done.
in WvW
Posted by: Cameirus.8407
and we are leaving the top servers for ones lower down the ranking, as the queues are better.
oh dear, its another “I want to keep out people I consider beneath me” thread.
No. They have as much right to claim stuff as you. get over it.
um, no.
You have /guild if you want to keep it in guild….
So, no, you bought it, tough luck.
wvwvw keep warfare, i think you take a small amount of dmg jumping off walls
yes i agree, more scanty male armour please, plate jockstraps ftw!
lol what a load of crap, elementalists are fine, you just have to adapt to play them well, like any other class in this game.
You have to move, you have to attunement swap often and you have to use abilities carefully.
If you stand there, in one attunement, and just spam everything with no though…..then you die, and quite rightly. Its so a L2P issue its not even funny anymore, the amount of QQ from every class tells me they are pretty balanced. Warriors have perhaps too much burst, thiefs as perhap too hard to kill, but generally all classes are perfectly viable.
I dont see why a bow is out of the question as we already have a spirit bow…
Make it fairly low dmg (viable dmg, but just not as its main focus) and include support abilites so the profession retains its flavour!, but for gods sake give guardians a 1200range viable weapon. (preferably with a aoe sufficient to tag mobs in DEs too)>
Thiefs in GW2 take all the annoying cowardly aspects of theifs in other MMOs and multiply them massively, Not only have the stupid burst, they also have stealth and can run away incredibly quickly.
So if their opening attack does not work, they can run with impunity. Only really really bad thiefs ever die.
They need sorting so that if they dont win the fight, they can be killed, they shoudl not be able to always get away.
not in favor of mounts at all.
If a movement speed is required, just up out of combat sprint speed, and make sure ALL professions have equal access to passive move speed buffs.
Tonics are fun.
But I think they should be:
A) tradeable, and
B) vendorable at 1c. (at least that way its easier to clear them out if you want to.
3. Using a catapult behind a keep door to knock back the attackers and destroy rams easily.
I have a problem with this one. There are places you can put Catapults, Arrow Carts, etc, that are absolutely 100% uncounterable. As people gradually figure this out, all gates will gradually become completely impenetrable, and the only way into a base will be through Catapult/Trebuchet breaches on walls.
I would argue that WvW would be better if the gates could not be penetrated with AoE. It would make repairing the gate much easier, and it would make burning the gate less gimmicky. It’d enhance the aspect of having supply inside a tower/keep, and turn supply starvation into a more important role. It will keep the match a lot more fluid and reactive. Besides, it doesn’t make any sense. What kind of arrow can penetrate a 3 foot thick reinforced gate?
no different from attackers aoeing the door to stop defenders repairing it, it works both ways.
no I play for fun, not for rewards. if I do something jsut for the reward I call it a job not a hobby.
And you get lots of karma and exp(for skill points) and marks to use to buy stuff if you want to.
dynamic =/= persistent.
Events, to a greater or lesser degree, do impact the world, but not permenantly, otherwise hte player after you woudl have nothing to do…… so yes events repeat, and travel up and down failure/sucess chains (though not so much down right now!).
In starting areas events tend to be smaller scale, probably as you move on quickly, so if you stick aroudn they repeat quite often, but thats just to be expected.
the jump back is incredibly useful, it sets you up nicely for another closing move.
Ride the lightning in, updraft back out, then close with burning speed, ring of fire, arcane blast…..
The jump back is great, it puts distance after moving in so you are less time in melee.
3. Worked in a way that it did not automatically match you with people, instead it provided a GUI for people looking for a group. Flag yourself as LFG, add a comment to say which Dungeons you are looking for.
And making that process automatic is bad because? It takes less time and is more efficient? Oh wait that’s a good thing. Really all you people seem to be ever so eager to say how bad it is to have a dungeon finder but you’re always unable to make valid arguments as to why and never want to answer arguments as to why a dungeon finder is a good thing. There has been numerous posts pointing out how chat spamming is not social and the superiority of a dungeon finder, all unanswered.
Because quite simply and I say simple yet clearly you failed to grasp what we are getting at which is to keep the process social instead of providing a tool that encourages people to behave like ****’s. By not automatically grouping people you force people to interact thus giving them a choice about who they group with. As a result of this people who constantly quit on dungeon groups because they cant handle wiping can be weasled out by word of mouth and therefore not invited to groups.
Your post is based on the assumption people dont just form groups accepting whoever replies to chat spam first. Which is usually the case. No lfg, is actually more antisocial as you are forced to just stand round spamming chat, rahter than taking part inthe game.
Inflamatory title much? And i think hate is a strong word.
Maybe there is a way to create it with stats you want, i doubt all the ystic forge recipies have been found yet.
I say give it time. Everyone and their dog is on GW2 right now so even the high numbers of enemies a DE can manage can’t defeat a player swarm. Things will slow down and DEs might surprise you. I did one on the snowy right side of Gendarren Fields and there were only three of us. We fought like lions and ultimately lost.
Except it’s supposed to be able to scale with those incredible numbers. I’m perfectly happy doing an event with 50 random people, I just don’t want the event to fall over entirely because we’re 50 random people.
The problem is when you start getting scaling like the Fire Elemental in Metrica Province or the Champions scattered throughout Queensdale and Kessex Hills. Bosses made “hard” by their hitpoints scaling through the roof, and their damage scaling such that even their basic attacks down people in one hit.
If they’re willing to cripple control classes like thieves with the Unshakable buff, maybe they should introduce some form of AoE resistance for mobs in zerged events.
Mobs need to spread out more and have additonal levels as more players join, someone in another thread suggested cetaurs for example could start using catapults in assaults for instance if there are lots of players.
Rift does it well, some of the newer rifts actually require tactics to down, not overly complex, but requiring coordindinaton.
The asura fire elemetal is a great example of a good boss for goups with good scaling. The boss is easy to kill, but the addsneed controling, so the group has to deal wiht them, they usually spread out sl aoe fest does not work, done right its easy, done wrong its a corpse pile on the bridge!
Drake, this is a new low even for you, you are complaining apbout endgame you have not experienced, thats like a character in wow who has only reached northrend complaining about cataclysm raids.
Not saying i dont think tings could be made harder, but, well, that post just seams a tadge premature on your part.
Absolute chaos.
This is supposed to be better?
Yep, its great, embrace the chaos over the boring scripted dance in other mmos.
You still need control, cc, kiting, debuffs, buffs and so on, its just that everyone is responsible not just one person. If you want to stand there and nuke, go fight a taret dummy, thats essentially what bosses in a certain other mmo have become.
Embracethe chaos, its much more fun, and as people get used to it order will emerge.
I was having a blast on Northern Shiverpeaks WvWvW in the Eternal Battlegrounds. Then, at one point, I realize that we are missing about 75% of our team. After a bit of looking I find that they are all fighting this worm. Nobody would leave it, the enemy team took the supply camp right NEXT to the worm and nobody even cared, and we lost a lot on that server. What makes it all worse is that after helping them kill it (at that point I had decided to help them finish it as fast as we could because we didn’t stand a chance w/o this huge group of players) all I got were 3 badges of honor…………. 3……. It took us 30 minutes…….. Just take it out please.
Right now NS has very little structure due to these free server transfers and a previously high queue time and so it is hard to communicate with all of these random people and convince them that that objective isn’t helpful.
So by your own admission, your server has massively outvoted you on if the worm should be in or not….
Re read your post, you are effectively saying your opinion on how to play is more important than 75% of the other players on the map……unless you bought everyone their account you dont get to make that decision. The only measure of whats important is what people do when givena free choice, in this case, the choose to fight the worm, that seams pretty clear cut to me, the worm stays.
At no point did I say “Everyone in that group also wants this”. I at no point spoke on behalf of the other players. I speak on my behalf, and my behalf only. You also say that somehow I don’t get to make the decision on what my opinion is because a majority of other players MIGHT have a different one… I feel like you really need to re-read BOTH of our posts because you obviously didn’t get it.
That might be the most unclear argument for anything that I have ever seen…. and I’m taking a class specifically for looking at poor arguments.
ummmm anyways…..
The worm took away from our server because it acted as a distraction to people who blindly followed it around even while they were being attacked by small contingents of enemies. This worm would not be a huge problem if it didn’t take that long for almost all of our combatants to take it down and still not get any WvWvW reward. I really don’t see much point in any PvE monsters besides the ones you can “recruit” like the Hylek. For the most part they just make elementalists constant dodging even more of a problem.Tl;dr: If someone wants to fight a giant worm, go to Queensdale. If someone wants to fight other human players in a large scale battle for supremacy, feel free to stay and fight.
And P.S. Is this really only on one corner of the map? That might be the biggest disadvantage I have ever seen a developer give to a single side.
I’d spend more time in that class if i were you.
Let me put it more simply.
You say take out the grub as people fight it in preference to what you want them to do.
You acknowledge that far more people fight the grub, you say three quarters of the team, which i assume is hyperbole, but i’ll take you at your word.
Therefore, you are saying that the grub needs to go, as you want those 3/4 of the players to stop their prefered activity to conform with your prefered activity.
No. Given a free choice, people choose to fight the grub. Therefore the majority opinion is the grub should stay. You asking for it to be removed is projecting your prefered playstyle onto other people, assuming your way is the right way, which is quite frankly imcredibly arrogant. Let people do what they want, its not up to you, or me for that matter, to tell people how to prritise their play activities to meet our own preferences.
As to the person saying not all opinions are equal, no they are not, however we paid the same for the game, we can all play it as we want to. You do not get to dictate how oth people choose to play. You can suggest their time may be better spent elsewhere, but they are perfectly entitled to tell you no.

I would personally like to see bigger impact of distance on price. Right now, I avoid using waypoints when moving around single area, since the price feels too high. I don’t mind paying say 5 or more silver for going from Orr to Lion’s Arch, but paying up to 2 silver for moving around single area just puts me off and I rather run a little. Lower cost would make me use the option more and I would probably end up spending more in the long run (micro-transactions, anyone?
).
TLDR: Long distance travel price feels OK (I can handle worse), short distance feels discouraging.
Working as intended then it seams. Letting you zone travel easily, but also encouraging you to travel round zones on foot.
I do think cost should be related to zone not level though, i pay a lot to travel to say kessex hills, but the rewarsd there are low. Whereas in orr the rewardss are high, it discourages going back to old zones.
Yes, justw throwing more weak enemies into the aoe is not effective. Also, get mobs to stop clustering up, they folow predictable paths and group up so stacked aoe just mows them down, spread them out, and also force us to spread out by usIng hard hitting aoe,
Asura fire elemental boss is a great example of how events should be.

I’d be tempted but I’m liking pvp too much esp WvWvW, I dont die much, but I coudl not manage not at all.
Good luck
People cant spread out if they cant get across the bridge.
Reduce the range of the Elementals attacks and aggro radius of the adds. Once you get in the room it becomes manageable, but getting past the doomed players on the bridge as they get AoE’d to death is frustrating.
blink, dodge, distortion, they all get me through no problem.
I’m sure other classes have abilitites that protect them or give fast movement. at the very leaast stability will get you into the room without the knockback effect from teh aoes.
But if not, stand on bridge, ranged kill the nearby adds, oh look, no aoe on bridge……
We are aware that when there are a huge number of players in an event, it can be difficult to reach Gold participation levels (or sometimes even Bronze). This is especially the case in boss events.
We are working on making participation easier to achieve in this situation.
Thanks for the update, its good to hear as this is probably the biggest issue affecting the game right now.
On the one had we have ppl that don’t want LFD tools like in Wow and on there we have the ppl that do. Both have good arguments, its counterproductive to have to wait in front of a portal spamming “LF1MOAR” and traditional hot join dungeons breeds Trolls so lets make a whole new system to be the standard!? isnt that what GW2 is all about? Here are some traditional ideas and new ones.
Option1 (easy “band-aid fix”)
Global (server) LFG Channel – pretty self explanatory. chat channel the ppl can see anywhere to find others for events.Option 2 (Simpler version of what they have now)
A LFG Lobby- have a dedicated button that opens up a LFG box with filters to see who is looking for party and what dungeons.Option 3 (out of the box)
A bulletin board in every city (all connected) where players can post dungeons they wish to run. "LFG Explorer CM " they can limit the duration for say 1hr and even add a note to it. then they can go back to questing or w/e. When someone starts forming a group they will go to this board and see your available, clicking the Ask to join button , prompting the player with a “so and so wishes you to join him on CM Explorer, do you wish to join?” and you can take it from there, its kinda like the 1st two but a little out of the box from the norm.well that’s my 2 cents.
option 4.
Put in LFG, people who want it can use it, people who dont can keep making chat spam groups.
Then people can vote with their feet as to what option the “community” prefers.
Each player, when targeting another player, should have the option of inspecting the targeted player’s gear.
no.
Why? you can see my appearance, and if you want ot know where it came from, ask. I’ll tell you.
The only reason you want to see people’s gear is to judge them, and that kind of elitist attitude has no place here.
Really? You can’t tell what type of gear some guy has by looking at it in this game and I don’t know about you but if hes still in level 30 gear trying to run a level 80 dungeon I’d like to know that because it does effect the group.
Even in GW1 people would ‘link’ their specs if they wanted to get into a group run. In general it’s invasive and judgmental- but looking at one’s gear and or talents lets you know something more in depth otherwise you’d be guessing or relying on ‘trust’ which is simply silly.
ask. problem solved.
and to be honest I’d prefer someone undergeared who can play than someone who is overgeared and cant dodge or support or ress…..and that you can only find by playing with them.
Inspections is a classic case of makign important what you can measure instead of working out how to measure what is important.
Scaling needs to be made harsher. Its still too faceroll when down levelled, its not a challenge.
If its the occasional adv fine.
If you are spamming chat repeatedly then I’d suggest you stop as itskittenannoying.
Most MMOs no.
Rift yes. Whilst I prefer the combat mechanics in GW2, I find the convenience and shear amount of options in Rift to be better. LFG, IA, massive epic zone invasions, Raid rifts….. I find this on demand content to be compelling.
Which is why I retain my sub to Rift alongside my GW2 play.
why? have you got empirical proof that this is not factored into the weapon abilities already?
Just asking.
I cannot believe that you could actually release an MMO these days where people have to stand outside the instance spamming /s to manually get a group together.
It’s incredibly lazy and makes what should be a simple affair take far more time than it needs to.
agreed.
LFG is a requirement of a modern MMO. I am staggered Anet missed this feature out.
LFG is needed as otherwise you just get spam in chat which is annoying, esp instarter zones where new players are wanting help and tips but all they get at “LFG TA MES” repeated 30 times.
No LFG makes you have to either stand outside the portal or in LA spamming chat for ages. I’d rather play the game than stand around spamming for a group.
soem people dont like them, fine dont use it. I wont tell you how to play, please dont assume you can tell me.
Look at RIFT and Swtor, both had to add LFG due to overwhelming player demand, the sooner Anet adds one the better.

My experience without death part of the monthly has been stuck at 21k forever.
Does it reset if you down?
Does it reset if you Waypoint?
Does it reset if you go into WvWvW?
Does it reset if you get downed or killed by a PC?
Anyone know?
Down = no
waypoint = no
wvwvw = no (though this is a really bad idea….)
downed by pc = no
killed by pc = death.
It resets on death for sure, as in “travel to waypoint” death. And it also possibly resets on logging out.
Easiest way to get it is to bulk craft with discoveries. if not that then just jump in a zone a few levels back and spend an hour runnign round doing DEs, play it safe and it wont take long.
despite what is said above, yes you can leave the zone.
(I assume loging out resetting it on occasion is a bug, as it weird a monthly achv requires a single play sitting)
(edited by Cameirus.8407)
LFG needs to happen soon.
Keep the difficulty where it is, and do NOT attach rewards to LFG (*like wow did).
But LFG needs to happen, sitting in zone (or LA) spamming LFG in chat is boring as hell and does not promote community. Its swtor all over again.
Learn from WoW and Rift and Swtor, LFG is not only wanted by players, its overwhelmingly demanded by them.
what: annoy whole zone populations
How: spamming “LFG(insert profession here)” do this 20 times a min
Why: Lack of a decent LFG system
seriously, this needs to be sorted, having to hang round either in the isntance zone or in LA instead of playing the game just so you can spend ages getting a group is how last gen MMOs did it, thought GW2 was more progressive than that.
[Mesmer Bug] Ether Clone (Skill 1 for Scepter) overidding third Phantasmal Duelist
in Mesmer
Posted by: Cameirus.8407
Also keep in mind that some mesmers (myself included) actually use the scepter for its intended purpose… to spam clones for shattering and fodder. To change that would affect many condition mesmers such as I play in Spvp. I would suggest a different wep probably geatsword as it doesn’t naturally generate any clones and you get an additional phant out of it.
it generates clones on attack 2, it generates one right at your target which is sometimes really handy.
you dont
But more seriously, do kill phantasms (dont focus them, but do use aoe and chain moves to hit both mesmer and the phantasms), dont kill clones (let them die to incidental aoe). make sure you dont stand in fields or with fields between you and phantasms (duellist) otherwise you will be combo’d.
Some phantasms have very slow attack speeds, berserker for instance, you can dodge it really easy, as it just stands there until it spins past, so move away from it if possible to give yourself time.
Look out for confusion, learn to spot it and react to it.
Almost all classes are faster than mesmers if they take speed traits, use that advantage, esp if you are ranged.
Ok I get it, you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Its nothing personal against you or anybody, stop commenting my posts with crap.
Don’t post crap and you will not get a “crap” response.
Nothing personal.
I dont get what you dont understand on statement that solo ppl joining WvW maps ruining it for those who want to play it seriously.
You don’t get it because you do not understand that they paid the same as you did and have just as much of a right to the product as you or I do. If you can not fathom this then we should probably just agree to disagree.
Nobody is refusing here anybody their rights, Anet is trying to solve problem with queing WvW maps which is ruining the experience from the game to the most of us. Your right ends just at the point others begins FYI.
So your solution is to make it better for one portion of the player base at the expense of the other? That in itself is ruining the experience for most of the players. FYI casual players are where the money is at in mmos. It took me a while to realize it. To ruin further ruin the experience of one group of players just to accomadate another group is wrong who paid for the same service is wrong. To cater to a minority customer base at the expense of treating the majority of customers like second rate shoppers is just bad business. There’s really no point in even discussing this any further because ANet is a business, and as a business they will NEVER do something like what you suggest.
You would have better luck by pressing ANet to let guild upgrades transfer and then swap to a lower queue server. We had an extremely large guild swap to our low pop server the other day and they are loving the instant queues (at least that’s what I heard).
No absolutely not, thats what i was afraid from begining, you totaly dont understand whats going on…just throwing one replay after another…
You were right there in one thing, the community will not manner itself its needed to be manipulated somehow and since there exist such thing as EULA etc which you agreed and the limits on the maps, and there are no written rules how queues work ATM we would consider everyplayer to have right to join the WvW, solutions is smt like the posts above overflow or extra maps or map where ppl who have absolutely no interest to be doing some usefull stuff, just what they want, or simply try to learn how it all works (like hotjoin in sPvP). But the dedicated players wants their organized groups/guilds to meet each other and compete for REAL, they might get something on maps where they meet other organized forces.
my god you really believe that crap dont you?
That the “dedicated” players should get preference? How do you tell if people are dedicated? who decides? and what gives you the right to assume you, who paid exactly the same as me for the game, should dictate how I play?
The shear arrogance is amazing.
The solution is this:
Play at night.
Eventually with server matching those servers with 24/7 active pops will be matched against each other and the rest will stabilise against servers in their band of performance. its early days and matching is not great yet.
Hmmm, I’m an elementalist as well and I typically don’t have too much of a problem getting credit (I’ve finished it twice this month, once before the reset a few days ago and already done again) I play WvW about 2 hours a night once every 2-3 days. If what you say is true, and you do have to be the one to finish the opponent then just try to find smaller skirmishes to get the kills from (supply depots, out of the way towers, borderlands, etc…) Getting 50 kills in 30 days shouldn’t be a problem regardless, I typically have a much more difficult/slow time getting 500 salvages :S
getting 50kills is easy, getting credit for 50kills is another matter entirely.
Salvaging is easy, usually takes a couple of evenings to get at max.
I agree 100% with this alot of Games got Ruined by this.
cant think of a single one where LFG was not a positive contribution to the game that the playerbase did not overwhelmingly take up,.
Only a small minority of forumgoers seam opposed to it. In everygame its put in its uptake is massive.
I’d love to be able to do this.
chests are bonus loot, they do not replace loot, so they are extras. If you dont have keys, just stack them in your bank until you do.
