I think the difference is that ROS and Dz came to an agreement not to attack each others territory (speaking together on Teamspeak). We all knew about it the night it happened but decided it wasn’t worth complaining about since it’s all part of the game. I find it funny however that the ROS commander came from RiOT, the same guild who were asking for everyone to leave them alone so they could progress a tier. Seemingly this was because t7 was too easy, but now that they have decent, even fights, they decide to ally with the enemy… doesn’t really make sense to me. I guess T7 easy mode isn’t quite easy enough for them.

Firstly its a 3way, a certain amount of teaming up is supposed to happen to act as a balance, thats the whole point of it being 3 way not 2way battles.

Secondly< I was not aware it had even happened, most guilds just lay into whoever they can, and take whatever towers are available. I certainally have never actually organised a team up, or been aware of one, we’ve been fiighting GH and DZ whenever and where ever they are.

If individual guilds are joining up to take down another team, take it as a compliment, that you are doing well, but thats just how it goes. And to be honest the GH uberblob is rivalling the ones I used to see from VS in T1. I dont have an issue with that (apart from the lag!), but if you adopt that tactic, then the consequence will be that people have to adapt to counter it.

Lets have less qq one here please, its been a fun week, bug and poor server stability notwithstanding, and I for one have had fun. I dont really care who wins as long as its s fun matchup as this one has been, lets all just enjoy that please.

Okay. Gave you time – now you know I was kidding. Basicly THAT stupid it looks like, when most guilds are struggling to get 8-9 people online or like one I’m in 4-5 three times a week.

Honestly, it shows nothing. It’s simply ego-booster for the ones who win.
If you guys want to prove you’re all skilled either do some outmanned actions (no, I don’t mean 43 vs 47) or small scale GvG fights (one party, one and a half).

That would be all from me at this given moment. I’m a little tired of the doutchy comments lately. Either it’s zerger complaining about X server zerging due being out-zerged or HUGE scale GvG as solution to problems.

If you want something different, go find like minded people and do what you want, and I wish you the best of luck with that. But just because you dont like something, does not mean we will stop it if we happen to enjoy it.

WvWvW is fun, but its only when you fight a equal numbers that you find out what you are made of. And you learn, both from wins and losses.

Guys, chill. Everyone blobs sometimes. Its inevitable.

We [FIRE] prefer not to, but if we are encountering overwhelming numbers then you bow to the inevitable if you want to take something or defend something important. Esp when you only field a small number of people, less than 15 usually.

But this evening we mostly ran solo, even with only 11-13 people and had some great fights. Rolled over a few enemies, lost to others. Win some lose some, who cares if its fun.

But, guys, tone it down with the blob talk. lets face it, we all think other people blob more than we do! but we never complain when we are in the blob, we attribute the way we are steamrolling to our own skill not number! Human nature.

Thats nice and all, but does not go nearly far enough.

They should do no dmg against seige. Or at the veryleast no dmg to rams or people on rams.

This is turning into boring seige wars, not player vs player group combat. I enjoy fighting other players, charging the zerg, hoping our group tactics will overcome usualy superior numbers.
I dont enjoy sitting on seige, or watching seige being used…..

It saddens me that Anet is implementing stuff like the living story and new town clothes in the gem store, things that imo isn’t needed!
They should focus on what the players want, which is new armor sets, player housing, dueling and guild halls. In all honesty I love guild wars 2, but I become so frustrated when they focus on things no one wants. I would gladly give up this living story and their philosophy on having a ‘living’ world for guild halls!

Dont speak for the community…..I personally dont give a toss about dueling, guild halls or housing.

I want more open world content and a WvWvW patch that sorts the issues there.

The “we are working on it” line is getting old. The tech exists in game already for sPvP. It should be relatively simple to adapt that to dungeons, and put together a ui.

Ok it woudl take time, but its been a while now, and no update….

I must say I dont really like systems where you cant choose to be visible or not. You should be able to set your status as online or apper offline at least. And your account name should never be visible to anyone unless you approve it.
Stuff like that is basic online privacy and security features.

Its not been an issue for me in GW2 yet, but its one of hte reasons I never used realID with Bliz. We should control our online visibility.

Rule 1 of WvWvW: stand on the commander icon.

Always.

If it moves, you move, if it stops you stop. If it charges and you all follow and wipe, deal with it, it happens. IF it runs away, get a new commander as that one sucks.

Ok, there is more to it than that, but if running with a zerg, the safest place to be is on the commander.

It still seems kind of strange that RoF and RoS congratulate each other on taking our keep at EB.2 and a half hours of going at us from 2 sides plus taking every camp and tower and you still had problems taking it. It was a lot of fun getting your loot and having an epic battle but we were kind of kitten that both of you had to go at us like that. We should probably take it as a compliment, but it is annoying that RoF hits us in the back every time we have a good battle with RoS.still it was a nice fight and thats what wvw is for.plus i earned like 4g just fighting for that keep.and i have to admit we probably earned it since we made both of you kinda angry since thursday.so keep up the good fights.Even if I sound a bit kitten , I enjoy those kind of fights.

Well….you did kind of night cap…but it was not planned. We in RoS just saw an opportunity to try to ninja cap your keep from RoF, took longer than expected as we ended up fighting RoF for the capture circle!

Great fight, would not have minded losing that one, it was fun taking part, but our tenacity won in the end (that and a couple of sneaky arrow carts on the inner wall behind the lords room!).

Most fun I’ve had in WvWvW in a while.

Then once we won the keep, no one could be bothered to defend it much, so we let RoF move in for a bit :P

Forcing people to play with other people in an MMO is just wrong. Why is the game even online, jesus!

Because gw2 was supposed to be mainly open world dynamic events, not instanced dungeons.
Because we were told we would not need organised groups, just go play with whoever is around?
Because there still is no lfg, despite anet saying any game launching now should have one at launch….

I find i rarely lose to thieves, we have too many ways of just totally negating their opening burst if we are paying attention, and after that its fairly easy to beat the down.

But i have given up trying to kill them, they just run and i cant catch them, so i dont bother. I beat them up a bit, then just carry on with what i was doing when they run. Its only usually a problem if they keep comming back and catch me with everything on cd, but thats pretty rare.

,mana and its equiv is required in static targetted ability games like wow, swtor, rift ect, to add depth to otherwise shallow gameplay, which is fine. In ge2 combat is more action oriented, any ability can miss if you evade it, you can interrupt virtually anything, and movement is key. A mana system would detract from the visceral nature of the combat.

I just can’t believe you people can’t cope with the arrow carts and haven’t figured out other tactics.

Structures are still getting flipped on a regular basis, just not a quickly nor able to just have a ninja team do it.

So many bads.

It has nothing to do with bad play. Of course arrow carts can be countered and new tactics employed. But as I’ve stated before, what the majority of people in this thread object to is that those new tactics are simply not fun and wind up being tedious and boring. That, combined with the fact that what was intended as a Zerg breaker for low pop servers is actually being used by high pop servers to solidify their lead in annoying and overpowered ways. The irony here is that confusion, the true Zerg breaker, was destroyed on the 30th as well. Most WvW players want epic player to player combat over objectives. Not standing around protecting arrow carts and trebs. Most WvW player want to be able to storm a tower when a wall falls, not be unable to enter the hole (and not even bother trying). Pre-patch siege was a nice compliment to player strategy and combat. Now siege is the main show. The main weapon. It’s absurd that an arrow cart is more powerful than a catapult or a balista. Simply absurd.

All I’ve seen in kitten and moaning about how this is destryoing wvw because they can’t deal with it and all these people are having a mass exsodus.

Hasn’t changed anything that I’ve seen, because there are still q’s on several boarderland maps during the week, stuff gets flipped just as easily as before, maybe a little bit slower but it hasn’t actually changed much beyond a little different thought about taking something like using a cat or treb instead of just rolling up to the gate and dropping a bunch of rams and STAND IN THE AC FIRE WHILE BEATING ON THE DOOR.

AOE should make you want to get out of the circle, not ignore it. I’ve stated before, range is a bit much but damage should stay. People should absolutely want to get out of AoE, not ignore it.

We can deal with it, but having 20 people stand round for 10mins watching 4 people on trebs/catas take down a wall and clear acs, is plain boring. Its not engaging gameplay to watch other people use seige, its not all that fun to use it either to be honest.

To losely quote someone in eb yesterday “can someone please take this treb in sm, i’m really bored firing it at durios for half an hour” ”ppppplllleeeeeeaaaaasssseeeee!!!!!”.

Quite a few Ros guilds are having a break or trying other games, mainly due to the ac changes, but i doubt that is unique to Ros. Anet really need to sort that put, wvwvw pops seam to be crashing across the board due to those changes.

Dz does seam very active this week, but then it was a holiday there I understand so that may account for some of it. Rof are still fighting, had a really great 3way in Dz keep on eb last night. Both Ros and Rof breached the walls from separate directions, then proceeded to slaughter each other in the lords area before Ros, through some adroit use of acs on the inner wall, managed to get a cap off.

Some of the most fun i’ve had in wvwvw in ages. Dz, though they lost their keep, put up a great defense, despite being attacked on both sides they managed to push us out several times, but eventutally their lack of supply prevented them from repairing walls or building defensive seige.

Thanks to all involved, a really great battle.

I think you guys just don’t get the point of the Arrow Cart. Its purpose IS anti-infantry. I still think that most siege weapons are under powered. In fact, i wish for some of them, like the AC, Ballista and Ram to have movement,(They can’t be used while in movement though, and they should be very slow to move.) I say increase the defenses of the Golems against the AC. AC is the practical Anti-Zerg weapon, and Im really ok with that.

AC vs players is ok, maybe a bit too much range, but the dmg is fine…IF it was not a counter to everything else. It kills rams, balistas, golems, catas and even trebs.

Its too powerful at everything, if it was specialised to anti-player fine, but right now its just too good at everything.

Ty to RoF and Dz for the epic 3way in Valley keep that lasted hours. Great fun.

Nice spirited defense by DZ, and a really long battle for the capture circle with RoF. Though the Lag was intense at times.

also, thanks to NOM for help with that SM cap earlier on.

Good fun, though ACs remain totally lethal.

Gs is too much a one shot pony, its just a dps weapon. Hammer offers so much more in terms of utility, masses of control, a very short cd blast finisher, perma protection. And it hits like a truck.

GS is great on lots of weak enemies, but otherwise its hammertime!

Sub lvl 80s hurt WvW

I think you should make WvW require lvl 80 to enter. I am sick of lvl 3s or similar low lvls who dont even have all equipment slots filled, no traits and not all skills unlocked. They waste slots on the maps, especially when the queues are hours long already and turn fights to the worse. If one of them dies several enemies will get up again.

If you cant make WvW lvl 80 only, at least remove upscaling for people who have at least one lvl 80 already to punish exp leeches.

Move along, this is not the game you are looking for.

No. Upscaling in wvwvw is a fundamental feature, much like downscaling in pve, get used to it or leave.

Elite Skills

I play a Warrior so I do not know if this is the same across the board but most Warriors only use 1 of our elite skills, Signet of Rage.

Do other classes get pigeonholed into a single elite like Warriors? What Elite skill do you use most on your class?

pretty much, cant remember last time I saw a guardian use a tome, and for good reason, they suck. Renewed focus is just so much more useful 99% of the time.

I dont agree, i have no problem with dailies being account bound. In fact i really like it, takes the pressure off to do it many times and allows my alt to be played and not lose out.

But i did disagree, and still do, with laurels as a currency at all, should have just stuck with karma, i dislike gated currencies, and gear gates on content, even though i dont actually run fotm myself, the concept of gear gates annoys me.

I can accept that mistakes happen, that changing things in a situation like wvwvw will have uninteded consequences.

For me, its how anet responds to mistakes that matter, if there is not a patch this week to revet ac changes, and prerably remove the added wxp abilitites that caused such a mess, i will beginto lose faith.

I am having less fun in wvwvw, which is almost all i do in game, at some point i will have to decide if i would be bett spending my game time elsewhere. Not there yet, but anet need to react much quicker to situations like this

pick and AH build that suits your playstyle, grab knights armor, get a decent staff and hammer and load them up wiht sigils of energy, and off you go.

Change the build as you see fit once you are used to it.

other good support builds are shout or consecration builds, but AH is a good place to start, as you can still use shouts and consecrations at an effective level in it, but you cant AH without building for it.

Personally I dont like clerics, some people do, but my set sits in my bank unused.

oh yes, they suck, well not really , skill 3 is actually a really powerful heal, but I cant actually remember the last time I got one off before either beign ressed, rallying or being stomped/dps’d down.

But meh, if you go down you are probably dead anyway, as it takes and awful lot of incomming dmg to take a guardian down anyway.

better solutions to karma trains:

Limit number of seige rams that can attack a door. say 1 for a tower, and 2 for a keep door. (numbers just picked randomly for example), make it so that rams , and people on them, are immune to AC fire (after all they are supposed to offer protection) but vulnerable to oil.

Limit AC range, and make them not dmg seige. But keep the dmg vs players (not on seiges).

Define the seige roles:

AC – anti player, fairly close range area denial tool.
Balista – anti player, limited anti-seige, long range tool to offer precision shots
Catapult – default ranged seige weapon, used to bombard keeps out of AC range (so people have to sally forth to protect keeps not just sit on ACs.
Trebs – long range seige, used for assaulting fortified keeps/towers with balista and AC defense, if a team upgrades a tower/keep it deserves to require an effort to take down.
Rams, very high door dmg, but susceptable to oil. Protects player on them from AC fire (again requiring people to actively defend keeps not just sit on walls), but limited numbers can be placed.
Golems, not quite sure how to slot them in.

Not saying thats perfect, but you get the idea, Anet need to define seige roles, not just make ACs super powerful and limit any form of heirachy to seige use.

Defenses for upgraded keeps need to be increased I think more rewards for upgrading, more reason to defend them to keep the benefits. Taking a T3 keep should offer much much higher rewards than a T1, as should defending a T3 keep.

But if Anet are going to offer real game changing power to ranks, then they shoudl be reset when changes are added to the system.

AC mastery is just too powerful, and should never ever have been added, but since it has been, a reset was in order.

Ok, leaving aside the argument of whether people using MF sets are being selfish(I’ve already stated my case & am tired of arguing it), I do have a question for the pro-MF crowd.

With all the discontent & dislike leveled at the use of MF in dungeon groups, not to mention the outright lying that is done by some MF users to get into those groups, how come I never see people advertise this:

Have any of you tried forming a MF only or MF mostly group? If so, how’d you do? If not, why not? There are a couple of you(you know who you are), who have repetetively asserted that skill will overcome the loss of the combat stat that MF replaces. Heck, some of you have gone so far as to say that MF players are more skilled than the rest of us schlubs.

So, prove it. Form your own MF only or MF friendly group and document your results. According to the posts I’ve read from MF players, such a group should have zero dificulty clearing content. After all, you already claim to be able to vouch for the superior skill of all MF users and the ability of skill to compensate for any loss in DPS or survivability. What have you possibly got to lose?

Extra points in your favor, if you:

1. Take random players, as opposed to stacking the group with people you already know possess high skill.

2. Stack full Explorers Gear with all 6 superior Runes of the Noble

Sub optimal mf set there! 5 runes of the noble and 1 travellers/pirate gets you more mf.

If you are going sub optimal gearing then at least optimise your deficiency :p

Most of the time you can avoid stuff by just simply sidestepping, dont stop moving! Save the above counters until you really cant avoid stuff normally.

If you zerg Guardian beats everyone else hands down to get drops. I run staff/hammer and both have masses of aoe in zergs, you just cant move for lootbags. If you win of course….

please, make them not nuke people so quick, please make it so they dont outrange other seige! and so they dont do dmg to seige.

I dont mind them being good against players, but dam, they are just too powerful.

Spending 10mins watching people treb a tower down may be greaat in terms of meta, but its kitten boring.

Suggestion:
1. Make a WvW lobby area (you select lobby from the same drop down menu where you sellect the wvw area to enter)
2. Have the entrance to the JPs in the lobby area (all of them).
3. Have crafting, banking, siege sellers, etc NPC’s there
4. Have the trainer…this is WvW, blah blah blah explanation stuff there
5. Have cool maps on the wall and a table top wargames area
6. Have the entrance to a dueling field and a gvg field/area/whatever

They have a Lobbing area….incidentally it’s called LIONS ARCH!

Please, stop with this GvG garbage. WvW is not nor ever going to be a place for “Guild vs Guild”. It’s “Server vs Server vs Server” content and that’s how it’ll stay, because it’s there to promote Server partnership amongst your server’s guilds, not conflict them against each other. Now, if they do ever add in GvG content, expect it to be in sPvP only.

WvW is inside of a game called GuildWars bro..

Which has nothing to do with in game player guilds, its about an event in the games lore….

Yeah, please ditch the gvg stuff, lets get wvwvw sorted out first please.

It think guardians are the most rounded, best balanced class in the game. I think they are easy to pick up, but offer rewards for the player willing to learn their intricacies.

They can be tailored to many differnt builds, from dps, to support, and many other hybrid roles.

We have limitations, lack fo ranged, mobility and so on. But I think these are fair (if they just made scepter less kitten frustrating), given our strengths.

other classes are fun, in their own way, but lack the variation in builds guardians have.

I love mesmer in small groups and roaming for instance, but feel hindered in a zerg. Maybe thats just me, but I feel other classes lack the versatility of the guardian, though I am enjoying levelling an engineer, the variety of kits is really fun.

- I dont really get the lack of build variety comments above. I cant think of another profession that has as many really viable builds as guardian.

But other than that, I’d steer clear of them. But I dont run dungeons so cant commetn on that.

Because shelter can block a lot of damage if timed right especially in a pvp environment. Like 10K damage +.

yeah, thats great on paper. and theoretically its brilliant.

In practise its never that simple. Its the danger of relying on perfect situations in theory, rather than more likely situations in practise which are far more messy.

I’ll take teh certainty of signet over the siutationally better shelter. becuase whilst shelter may outperform signet 1 time in 20, I prefer my signet which works better for me the other 19 times…..

18k health pool? Heck, I’m still trying to figure out how you guys/gals get into the 15k range. I’m sitting close at 14,800 or so and feel like I’m roaming solo out in WvWvW using a wet paper bag for armor

I’m running 15k health but with 3000+ armour.

High health is not a requirement for guardians, mitigation works better in my opinion, as we have some of the best health regen tools in the game. you need to limit incomming dmg and use your health pool like a buffer that you continually refill, rather than as a large pool that drains away.

depends on the exact build you use of course, but I’d want my crit pretty high as lots of our traits trigger on crit.

sooo…. Anet can add in additional maps to WvWvW pretty easily.
Ok so designing the maps woudl take time, but the ability is there.

so Anet, when do we get more maps?

hmm, traps that remove supply could be incredibly annoying not sure I like the idea of running back and forth to make up supply, its going to hit small groups really hard.

Do we have enough supply for 2 sup rams? yep? ok lets roll.
Um, why is only 1 ram up…who has not built? oh great trap.
All back to supply camp……this is a bust.

I worry that will only encourage zerging more to guarantee that there is enough supply remainign for seige.

A better idea would be to ditch Glicko, andjust use a simple relegation/promotion system instead.

Number of views =/= importance. You’re using the wrong measurement.

Not strictly, obviously. What is a better measurement to which we have access?

But many views may be by people who disagree with the suggestion. Dont assume, number of views = popularity,
