But someone has to farm so others can buy ^ ^
Those mats you see on the TP arent from people farming, theyre just from random drops people get or promoting t5 through the mystic forge
But people already do that. Thats why i said so basically the same build everyone already uses. And you don’t have about 15k HP, you have 13.7k
So whats the point?
Good video, it was fun to watch.
I liked the synergy between s/d and d/p, good combos I’d really like to test it.
have you tested this in spvp? Solo Q or team Q, I wonder if this build actually works there.
No, you absolutely need SB in spvp for the mobility and team fights
6/6/0/0/2 d/d for bosses, Sw/p for trash. Keep signet of agility at pretty much all times, other good ones are SR (for skipping) or smokescreen (for skipping or projectile reflects). Assassins signet is fairly good as well. Save the active on it for bosses <25% HP and spam heart seeker. All berserker gear, scholar runes, life steal food. Be aware the main thing a thief brings to a group is trash mob skipping, so know the places where thats helpful
Also the rotation for d/d is CnD?backstab?1 full auto chain?repeat. For Sw/p pistol whip does slightly more DPS than the auto chain, however the difference in dmg is very slight. On top of that the sword auto gives perma weakness, so that if an attack does somehow sneak through, its not going to hit hard at all. so youre better off saving your initiative to benefit from 25 in crit strikes, as well as the blind field helps your whole team stay alive. However if you do somehow get stuck in a boss fight with Sw/p pistol whip is the way to go, since bosses are basically immune to blinds. Dont just spam it tho, watch animations to get the best use of it. In case you didnt know, pistol whip evades all attacks for the second part of the skill. Signet of malice is also a pretty good choice of heal with Sw/p, due to pistol whip hitting multiple times, and healing up with crit procs and that is great when trash can’t even touch you cus theyre permablinded. Keep a shortbow on hand as well, just not as your main weapon. Cluster bomb is essentially a spammable blast finisher, which is awesome to use in fire fields to stack up might, water fields to heal everyone up, or smoke fields to skip a certain part of the dungeon (thats where smokescreen comes in) below is a video guide

So basically the same build everyone uses already?
However, trying to farm mats doesn’t really work. Its much easier and faster to farm gold, and then buy the mats off the TP. For example a dungeon tour of all the easiest dungeons will take you ~2hours and make you 30-40g, not including the armor you can buy with dungeon tokens to salvage into ectos. You can then use that money to buy whatever mat you need.

The 3-5 stacks from one auto could be a few things. The sword auto is actually really fast, and combined with an earth sigil and the 1 point minor trait in arms that applis a base 3sec bleed on crit (no ICD). They could also be using a sigil of geomancy. So the naturally fast attack speed of the sword combined with these sigils is probably whats happening
I think originally Anet wanted d/p to be the high single target DPS set, and they wanted d/d to be a good hybrid set. Poison on the autoattack, death blossom, and if you go a bit into deadly arts as well there is evidence
Sword cleaves. Dagger doesn’t. Thats enough
The first one would be a 6/6/x/x/2 d/d signet build all zerker/scholar runes. The last 2 sound similar to the 2/0/0/6/6 s/d build thats becoming popular
Yes, but d/p is better
I just don’t know what I’d do instead…it seems a good idea to have a single Bloodlust sigil on my bow and also either my axe or warhorn so that I can always build power no matter what I’m using (I also am pretty squishy so I go down fairly often and lose stacks). What would I use instead? I’m open to any ideas I just want to have maximum damage really.
Force/air/fire/strength/blood/battle/leeching
Twisted Fangs, most OP skill in the game.
Hey. In the tutorial instance it is pretty OP spamming it on the bosses
Practiced tolerance and initial strike are actually pretty solid
Once you hit 30 theres a trait in arms 2 points in called deep strikes. That and running all signets is one of the best and easiest ways to level in the game. Have you tried using a greatsword? The #2 skill will completely destroy mobs and followed by a quick #3 will kill anything other than veteran status in seconds. Id probably try experimenting with either greatsword+axe/shield or if you need a ranged weapon GS+longbow. Longbow actually has better single target DPS than rifle, and much better AoE, as well as not having to kneel down for 2 seconds just to fire off the f1. Its also got some nice utility with the immob, blast finisher, and blind
The argument of, “their heal and utilities are also completely recharged by the time they come out” is invalid because so have all of yours
The Arah armor is so cool on asuras. It just sucks i dont like any of the light armor classes! I try to like mesmer, but i just…idk
For leveling using all signets is really good. Then at lvl 30 you can start investing trait points into arms and get deep strikes
Why not use both?
Whats their weakness? D/D eles
Axe warriors are easy. You already know their main goal will be to land eviscerate. That makes it incredibly easy to stop them. Always save 1 extra dodge or block, because it will come. Its just a matter of when. If youre watching for the eviscerate (you should be) axe warriors fall apart
It is laughable subhuman garbage, at least for PVE. You cannot use the same build for PVE and WvW and be optimal. Theyre both 2 very different game modes and as such require very different things. Taking your WvW build into PVE works yes, but its far from optimal. In addition, having it “work” in 40+ fractals isn’t exactly very impressive as its one of the tankiest builds in the game. People run these same fractals in full berserker armor. With the way your able to reset traits whenever and wherever there really is no excuse for having 2 separate builds, 1 for PVE and one for wvw
First off, welcome to GW2! Heres a fairly generic post that i copy/paste on to every new player thread, with some basics you should learn. Incoming wall of text.
Firstly, there is a huge difference between the combat here and the combat in WoW and most other MMOs. A few things of note:
The combat in this game is much more action-oriented- you can avoid attacks by strafing and dodging as you fight, and using skills to counter enemy attacks. It’s more important to avoid attacks than to heal them. You can avoid attacks via blind, blocks, teleports, and evades/dodges. Every class also has their own healing skill, which is your #6 slot. The current meta for PVE is to use full dmg gear an traits and wipe out mobs and bosses as quickly as possible, using active defense to survive.
There is no healer/tank/DPS trinity. Everyone is responsible for their own survival, for DPSing the enemy, for coordinating support and control to make fights more manageable. Your success in this game depends largely on your skill as a player, rather than your gear.
I highly recommend giving this a read: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/GW2-Combat-system-101-Guide/first
In addition, GW2 is highly unlike WoW in many other respects. The game’s meant to be more of a journey- you take your time and enjoy the process of leveling, explore to your heart’s content, and when you hit 80, there aren’t tiers of raids and gear to chase one after the other. You pretty much find what you enjoy doing and do it.
Practice. Watch streamers on twitch and YouTube videos
Pack runes are solid tho theyre better with sword builds. You could try taking executioner and pack runes with you dagger build instead of HK. Hoelbrak is ok as well. But there definitely is a reason strength runes are so expensive
(edited by Carpboy.7145)
The point of using Sw/p is to drop the blinding field and use the Cleaving autoattack.
Bow does better DPS then rifle
Thieves. You can never die and go on like a 100+ kill streak. Mesmers are also decent but they have a bit harder time running away
Other thieves, although its often a game of hide and seek. Once they get low and pop SR theyre done for tho as i can almost always backstab them in their refuge. From their its cluster bomb spam ftw.
Warriors are also typically very easy as their moves are so telegraphed and predictable you can never be hit by the nasty ones.
Rangers. For some reason almost every single ranger in WvW is full glass LB sniper. Basically free kills.
Shatter mesmers or just glassy mesmers are also fairly easy to me
Actually for thief scholar is better. At least in pve
For groups you say? Looks solid, more or less your standard DPS AH build. You could try experimenting with a hammer, and trooper runes. Your power is a bit low, id drop some vitality for some more power
People already know how to offset the lost dmg. Mighstacking
Use my build.

Combo might off yourself with SoR, combustive shot, arcing arrow, and savage leap

I tried it out Galsia…
It’s freaking awesome
(so far did it holding close tho, so I’m really curious how it’s doing in a teamfight)
It gives really awesome support to your team
Is ver gud teef OP nurf anet
Ow
That’s a shame because the guardians looks so much like a tank… Is it viable building it more like a support, for buffing the party??
They are one of the tankiest classes. In this game however there is no trinity like healer/DPS/tank. Firstly, there is a huge difference between the combat here and the combat in WoW and most other MMOs. A few things of note:
The combat in this game is much more action-oriented- you can avoid attacks by strafing and dodging as you fight, and using skills to counter enemy attacks. The current meta for PVE is to use full dmg gear an traits and wipe out mobs and bosses as quickly as possible, using active defense to avoid dying. Support doesn’t rely on stats like healing power and boon duration, as a full dmg setup will still have all the boons, reflects, mighstacking, and aegis/protection a normal group would while still dealing top tier dmg. In other words, you should rethink your definition of support into not being purely healing based. Every class already has their own #6 heal and anything you can give them would be very lackluster.
There is no healer/tank/DPS trinity. Everyone is responsible for their own survival, for DPSing the enemy, for coordinating support and control to make fights more manageable.
Your success in this game depends largely on your skill as a player, rather than your gear.

If you must range bow is better. But GS is far better than bow
Well there is no point to building tanky in PVE. As a guardian especially you have so much active dmg mitigation like blocks, blinds, and dodges that youll rarely get hit in the first place, and dead enemies deal no dmg.
What your going for is a shatter build. There many builds and guides on the mesmer forum. Here’s one guide
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Guide-WvWvW-Pve-Shatter-Cat-2014-04-23
Thats true he said dungeon. I was thinking WvW/pvp
I usually go with signet of stamina, dolyak signet, and zerker stance
Who said?
I didnt look at yours, but mine is 0/6/4/0/4 rabid ammy, undead runes, and doom/corruption sigils
Map and story completion are the fastest ways to level. You said no crafting, and by ruling out those youve left 0 options to actually level
Why don’t you use ‘Shake It Off!’? Shortest CD, stun breaks and removes a condition.
Because it doesn’t grant stability and so is worse against multiple CCs.
And then signet mastery for the adept slot
Well i think +25% movement speedis much much better in wvw compared to the rest of adept and master traits.
Btw i also have last stand trait so i dont really use the dolyak signet that much so i can benefit more from the passive..
Does all classes have allot of boons?
Warrior is almost always 3 boons
Guardian en engi both have more.. Like 5 boons
Ele and ranger around 3?
Necro mesmer and thief? Dont really have much i guess?
The way i see it is signet mastery also increases your run speed by lessening the CD on SoR. Youll only have 18 seconds of downtime, even less if you have any boon duration. I never use warriors sprint unless im using all stances or something.
Mesmers and thieves commonly have 2-4 boons as well, not sure about necros but i know they commonly have retal, prot, might, fury, swiftness are their most common
Imagine a thief mesmer. Or a guardian thief! Insane active mitigation and tankiness, combined with extreme mobility and dmg. Oh lawdy!
