I wish Anet would realize how much more money they could get out of us by selling the new skins in the cash shop for the first week, make them account bound so you can’t gain a monopoly on the market and then, a week later add them to the lion weapon vendor. I’d buy those pieces but there is no way in kitten I am gambling my money on those kitten lion boxes. Just let me throw my money at you Anet and let me buy them!
The people that will gamble their money away make them more money than directly selling to you ever will.
I’ve seen so many games where people will declare, “I just spent $300 on this crap and got NOTHING!? Why won’t you let me buy them directly!?” to which the only response is, “You answered your own question.”
One of the games ultimately got so much flack (despite people continuing to dump money into it) that the distributor agreed to ‘compromise’ and sell some of the skins outright… Seems the compromise was that they would sell them at a price they felt wouldn’t make less money than gamble-boxes would; which ended up being ~$200 for a single outfit.
Don’t underestimate how much money people throw at these things…
Was this aeria games?
It sounds like something they’d do.
Basically kills the fun of the game mode.
The staff is nice, as is the shield the rest however……………………………………….
LS > Pheonix to me
Maybe now these people will have to play the game instead. I’m going straight to LA to drink the endlessly flowing tears.
………on the same patch as people returning to LA?
I see what you did there Anet
I loved Liadri, I got all achievements. playing on low setting, on a laptop, from EU on NA server.
So don’t make these excuses of lag or camera.
Eh, the camera is a legit complaint.
Though I’m hearing the glass domes have been removed? So that will no longer be a legit excuse if true.
As someone who obtained the mini, I want it to return.
How does it make money making methods by playing the game obsolete?
everything is worth kitten, almost every drop in the game is kitten thats how
and every good way of making money by actually playing the game is always nerfed because arenanet wants to milk shekels from people exchanging gems to gold
so the only choice is either exploit suckers on tp yourself in the name of capitalism or never get anything nice…or whip out your credit card…gold wars 2
+at least in other games the government wasnt stealing 15% of my kitten
There are so many holes in this argument, I’m shocked I can even see the writing.
It needs more nails to keep it together.

Had to delete my hentai back pack for space, good to see I can regain it.
I forgot one point: it was a DPS race.
My guard beat her in full soldier’s gear.
Using a AH/shout build.
With a scepter/torch.
Just remember that. Nobody liked Liadri. All I ever saw was cursing and cussing and yelling and screaming in map chat. Lots of profanity and insults directed towards Arena and whoever made Liadri.
Remember that.
My very existence disproves your claim and thus kills your argument.
Political: The environmentalist movement could be tied to plant people. Since environmentalism is an anti human movement at its core: humans are evil, nature is more important. A philosophical friend of mine declares that the sylvari are for hippie tree-huggers.
……there is so much ignorance in that, it feels like someone is stabbing me in the crotch.
But the rose is currently very pricy, and originally linked to content which is coming back in a few days. There was an account bound version you could get trading fortune scraps (?) and tradeable one from the race. I remember it very clearly because they added it to the scraps vendor after I’d blown all mine on rng boxes, was very annoyed.
You can actually get the rose from the southsun survival mini game still IIRC, though very rarely.
You can get the rose however from the trading post.
No to Legendary Armor – they said that Ascended would be it.
Correction, they said Ascended was the last tier they plan to introduce. Legendary however already exists, hence it would not be a new tier if they made Legendary armor.
Eh, I prefer my thief’s outfit. Even on a necro I’m not fond of it, I prefer going for a ghost/wraith look over the typical skeleton/lich.
I’ve been getting them more often tbh, while leveling my thief I have gotten 3 drops and every other map completion has rewarded me with a key.
Anet really needs to make more Sylvari armor. The only places to get true Sylvari armor is the cultural and Twilight armor or the gemstore cook outfit. One of the most beautiful character races ever to hit MMOs and there’s hardly anything to dress them in that goes with their theme. It’s been 2 years Anet, come on!
Tbh, I’d say Charr need more armor tailored to them first. Hell, tier 3 light of all sets clips with their tail.
The most expensive light cultural set, and it clips!
More because pve players said it would “ruin” the economy with a too high ammount of ecto’s, thats why.
I have never heard anyone outside a very small amount of forum users claim that.
Not that it would make you attempting to convince PVE players any less nonsensical.
Because PVE players are the ones who control what you can salvage now I guess.
Please give us more weapon options.
Flails, two handed axes, bow Guardian, etc, etc…Bow Guardian? This is as ridiculous as warriors having staves! -_-
We indeed need more options, but pls, lets keep the sense for roles.
………………………………….
A guardian using a longbow doesn’t fit…….how exactly?
Well, the thread will probably get shut down soon if people keep insisting to avoid the actual topic by making this a Wildstar discussion-thread.
Though my edit on the original post would do the job…
I’m not sure why you expected it to become anything else.
Can you tone it down on the caps lock?
how can it be so hardcore with a graphics like that. plus it have subscription and gw2 dont have. hussle free. just log in and have fun.
Eh, it’s a stylistic choice. The visuals do not always correlate to the “hard core” factor.
Also hard core means so many things to so many different people from what I have found tbh.
Personally though the visuals turned me off of Wild Star from the get go so I can’t comment on if it’s really as “hard core” as people claim.

Another thing that WS is getting right is PvP. They have MULTIPLE game modes, something that GW2 has been sorely lacking since launch. Additionally they don’t have the stupid hotjoin auto balancing or the constant 4v5 that happens here. Plus WS has GvG which was supposed to be guild wars namesake.Casuals will probably stay here, people looking for a challenge will probably migrate to WS.
They also have open world dueling and a sub fee, two reasons why I will remain playing GW2.
I don’t understand people’s qualms with open world dueling. Why does it bother you?
Lets just say I would prefer to “see” us vs “them” and not “us” vs “us” in my Player vs Environment (PvE). Personal choice, but if it makes some players migrate to WS, I won’t lose any sleep over it. Anyways this topic has been discussed to death so I can see no reason to derail this thread.
If you don’t plan to discuss something, you have no reason to bring it up in the first place.
Love the character models and environment very much. For better or worse, how my character looks is 9/10ths of the law, so I’m hear 2 years (has it been 2 years already? almost?) later.
Now, if we could just get a Living World story where we ‘take back’ Orr and terraform it (I’m sure we could cobble something together with Asuran science and Charr engineering) so it’s nice, happy grass and farms and bandits and centaurs and bears, I’d be all set up.
Will be 2 years in September, IIRC
I tied out Wildstar last night and got to appreciate GW2 even more. Especially the Heart/DE mechanics. Wildstar’s back to the old ‘get a quest. do it, turn it in’ mentality.
I struggled to get past the tutorial zone myself, not because it was difficult, just so dreadful in every way.
Shall I hazard a guess at Wild Star being the game you tried?
In which case I will agree with all points.
Dear god is that game visually atrocious.
The cartooney-look…Yeah thats putting me off aswell, one of the major reasons im not even gonna bother,i seriously dislike that graphic style.Looks like a mix between WoW and that russian F2p game Allods.
Funny thing is, normally a cartoony look doesn’t bother me.
But Jesus Christ, Wild Star dropped one hell of a ball with their cartoony look.
Not to mention customization is depressingly bare bones.
Shall I hazard a guess at Wild Star being the game you tried?
In which case I will agree with all points.
Dear god is that game visually atrocious.
Hmm, thanks for bringing this to my attention OP. I might have to give this a shot to help my friend with her legendary.
I recall finding this ever since LS1 ended. Keep in mind you must have screen shake enabled.
You need full ascended in order to be competitive in this game. It is a horrible, expensive grind. Just wait until you see legendary armor!
If you suck, yeah.
Course even then you’ll still suck and get walked right over. You’ll just be slightly fancier loot bag.
Or I’m good and now I’ll be even better with top gear. I wouldn’t want non optimized players anywhere near my team because they are unwilling to put in the effort for their own and the team’s benefit.
Sounds like someone that feels they need to rely on marginal stat increases to me.
Also, I assume you’re talking WvW, since there is nothing competitive in PVE at all and sPVP (the only real competition) has no ascended tier.
WvW just amounts to blob vs blob, in which your individual gear is meaningless. Unless we’re talking roaming which I guess if you have very low standards for competition you can call it that, which even then gear beyond exotic means very little and roaming itself contributes fairly little.
The only place ascended matters is fractals, and that’s only because it can be infused. However, there’s again nothing competitive about PVE content so I’d assume you’re not talking about fractals either.
Why wouldn’t I want the highest stats? Higher is better.
But I forgot that I’m on the GW2 forums where stats don’t matter even though all the gear has stats on it and everyone is in at least exotics (why not settle with greens if it doesn’t matter?). A place where a 10% increase in damage between tiers is “irrelevant”. It’s really quite laughable.
I’m still waiting for you to show me where this competition that ascended makes any real difference in is.
I prefer to to optimize my own characters to the best of my abilities. Sorry that’s so difficult for you to understand.
Some people prefer to run around in all greens with their special snowflake builds. All the power to them. But let’s not pretend that there is no difference between the snowflake and the optimal.
Your original point was it is required for one to remain competitive.
You have yet to back that up or even say where that is the case, all you are basically saying so far is it’s a grind because you choose to make it one for marginal stat increases, and yes 10% is marginal even without comparing the cost/gain which is less drastic cost wise with exotics and below.
Um, it’s pretty simple. If I want to remain competitive, and be the best I could be, I have to have max stats in WvW. I have to have max stats in PvE as well, because I’m one of those people who actually CARE about doing very well, and I hate dragging the team down.
Like I said, other people can special snowflake it all they want, but don’t go calling me “bad” or my gear a “crutch” just because I enjoy improving my character.
Competition in WvW? Oh that’s cute.
You mean the blob vs blob, where your individual gear means nothing? Or the roaming, where your contribution to the score is insignificant and most people you run into are fairly bad anyways? I honestly had hoped I was mistaken and this was not what you were calling competition.
And if 10% is noticeably dragging your team down in PvE, your team is pretty kittenty to begin with.
Everything you’ve said is only true because you choose it to be, thus it is only true for you. No one in PvE cares about that ascended gear outside of fractals, and it means nothing in WvW. You can scream to the sky that it matters all you want, it doesn’t change the fact however that Ascended gear is completely optional and is honestly a waste of time unless you plan to do the highest tiers of fractals.
The only real competition in the game is in sPVP, where the average player tends to be much better then the average WvW roamer. Well, prior to the 15th anyways.
There are plenty of real issue with GW2, the grind is not one of them.
(edited by Celestina.2894)
I think the Sylvari are just a tad overused by this point. They are only 25 years old, but the have proved central to the story-line again and again, effectively ousting the importance of the other races. I’m just saying that the devs have had their fun with their new pets: either get on with why they are staying in the spot light or move to a different dynamic.
That I’d say is a valid point, and while I love Sylvari, yeah I’d agree. Personally I’d love to see the next LS focus on Charr or Norn, but with Mord now waking I imagine that may not be likely.
/rank is just the PvP rank, the finisher is used when stomping an enemy player.
Aw so no way to display our finisher on PvE?
Aw i wanted to lhama finish bosses :P
There are a few mobs you can finish, but yeah other then that finishers are basically just pvp.

Kal Online renders this entire topic invalid.
It is not about originality, it is about presentation.
The Sylvari as a whole are presented fine, pretty much all Sylvari hate always comes right back to Scarlet and Trahearne.
Ehm- could all of us get those please? or even better just remove the stealth part from wvw/pvp? would be nice.
When they give thieves some real defense outside of stealth, sure.
Also, seriously? An Engi of all classes wanting a specific stealth counter? Do you have any idea how hard it is to touch a good engi?
Living story was a colossal failure, even in revenue terms.
Presumably you have data to back up this “fact”?
Obviously I don’t but the gem store items available during LS were only available to a limited amount of players, for a limited amount of time.
Those items could/should have been available to any player when they have the time to play that content.
I’m not sure you understand what a failure in revenue terms is.
Yes – I did know going in it was a lottery ticket.
Just not a ticket I’m buying again.
I’m providing the feedback that I would love to buy the dye from the gemstore, but that I do not want lottery tickets.
You’re not the first to give said feed back.
Unfortunately, for every person who is smart enough to not engage in buying a gem shop lottery ticket there are plenty more that basically negate that one person. As long as it rakes in the cash, they won’t change it.
I’m…….not sure what the issue is here.
In fact I got 5/5 in PVE without even knowing it was a daily.
Whenever I look at this forum I see at least 3-4 threads titled “Sylvari must die” etc. WHY?? You wouldn’t see stuff like that on the other race forums and they all have their bad counter parts e.g Char~Flame Legion and Norn~Sons of Svanir. Just because the main anarchist of the game is Sylvari why should the whole race be condemned to “Evil killer plant people”? Do you think that if the main anarchist was a different race, would people hate that race instead? I just think its a shame to hate such an amazing people on the basis that one was mad……… Gimme opinions on this pelase
Honestly?
Because they are dull, uninteresting, and silly race. Whose only purpose in the game was Trahearne, who is the worst character I have ever witnessed in a storyline of a RTS/MMO. He blatantly steals the story, all to advertise how “awesome” Slyvari are when infact all he does is highlight all my gripes with Slyvari.
Let me list them;
- The whole concept is flawed, the fact they are called Slyvari to begin with suggests a long living elf like race that is both wise and knowledgable. Instead they are children, this left me dumbfounded and simply made me say, “So you called Dryads Slyvari, Ok… can I kill them all now?”
- I am of the belief and opinion that they replaced Tengu, which to me is a huge mistake. All because the head lore keeper liked the concept of them. The thing is, Tengu have been around since GW1, not only that but their history is rich and colourful. Full of culture, lore, loss, victory, and the fact GW1 had a event dedicated to Tengu made them highly popular and desired. In Slyvari what’s interesting I mean, magical trees? Pfft. Yeah no I seen this 100 times before. Wlyd Hunt interest? Again seen it before yawn countless times. Trahearne does this very well you see not only does he make you go on a magical adventure with a tree but also constantly brings up the fact his Wlyd hunt is to heal Orr and that is why he must now take your place as the main character, that and the stupid sword which in the cutscene didn’t actually do ANYTHING.
- What do they bring to the table, I mean honestly. What do they bring, they have no redeeming features (except the snare), their living story is utterly love story after love story (No No in a MMO) and serves no reason other than to make them seem like the child-like race they are meant to be.
- It makes no sense, in GW1 we had a fair few expansions and you try to lead us to believe they exsisted all that time? Yet we never encountered a single one. Yeah no, this is bad story telling 101.
- Trahearne
- Trahearne
Sorry but trahearne deserves to mentioned twice in his own sperate points dedicated to the joy of Trahearne.
I find it disturbing that people claim the Slyvari to be original despite the fact they are the least original race in the game. While Tengu are the most.
1. That’s an opinion, one which you clearly will not change your mind on, so I won’t waste my time there.
2. The Tengu were originally planned IIRC, but were scrapped due to various issues. The Sylvari had nothing to do with it. Also you attack Sylvari based soley on Trahearne, who is a victim of rushed character arcs and writing, simple as that.
3. What do the Tengu bring to the table? Being “proud warrior race guy” birds? We have that with the Norn and Charr already. Also, love story after love story? I only recall two story arcs with a relationship involved in the plot.
4. The birth of the Sylvari is set in motion in Eye of The North, the pale tree is planted and quite simply, even in GW1 very little was known about Tyria (and very little still is). We could only visit a tiny fraction of Tyria, even after Nightfall, Factions and Eye of The North.

If they did say ‘we are aware of the issues and are looking into it’, do you honestly believe that people would stop posting / whining about the same thing on a daily basis?
Give people one confirmation the team is aware and working to solve the problem is a step, will not fix the rage we see, but they can’t say we’re being simply ignored by the development team on our feedback. It can calm nerves down, something that is recently “up-scaling” on the forums.
No it does not, in fact it then adds to the ammo people will use, citing “broken promises”.
Even if Anet had the most amazing, borderline godly dev team they would never win.
Sorry Lanfear but this patch is not the same as same old complaints that the sky is falling.
I agree there has been oodles of those since the game launched. This patch though?
It destroyed so much, just this once I agree that the feeling in game is pretty much the same as on the forum.
Megaserver is a fail for everyone I know
So what makes this complaint any more valid? Is it because YOU and a group of other players dislike it and now it’s suddenly the RIGHT thing to complain about? Is your complaint suddenly SUPERIOR to the complaints of the other group?
SAB “destroyed so much”
Ascended gear “destroyed so much”.
Teq revamped “destroyed so much”
Champion loot buffs “destroyed so much”
They were all “a fail for everyone” if the forums were to be believed.
I’m sorry, but I am seeing NOTHING new in these complaints.
Nothing will please every one, it just sounds like this is your first time being on the other end of a change.
(edited by Celestina.2894)
Their original reason for not doing this was because they wanted people to easily tell the difference between say a great sword guardian and a great sword mesmer in PVP. Course, I did and still do think it would be obvious right away from a great deal of other things.
That being said, now that we can wear costumes over our armor…….that defense does not really hold up. I think there might have been another reason, but I don’t recall what it was.
I for one would welcome this, I’d remove weigh and racial restrictions too
I disagree on racial restrictions. Racial armor is one of the things meant to diversify the races. Plus it wouldn’t make much sense if any race could wear sylvari cultural, as Sylvari cultural armor is designed to be an extension of their body of sorts.
And before anyone brings up nightmare armor, that set is implied (and the heavy confirmed in a sylvari personal story) to have been specially crafted by the nightmare court. So those three armor sets are exceptions.
Removing weight restrictions however? I’m all for that.
You could tie the racial armor to some kind of reputation mechanic, so you can go be useful for the silvary and they as a token of gratitude give you the robes of their people, doesn’t sound bad right?

That misses my point entirely. The sylvari cultural armor is attached as a part of their body. This is most obvious in sets such as tier 2 light female, where the shoulder piece is not actually attached to the armor, but the back itself and tier 3 medium where parts of it are purely influenced by skin color as well as the heavy helm, which is clearly grown. Sylvari cultural armor is more then JUST clothing, it’s implied to attach to them.
Now armor inspired by Sylvari cultural? I could see that, make it different enough from it’s base but recognizable as being based on the cultural. Maybe as less detailed versions.

Another
funproblem I’ve come across while leveling is the sheer amount of players upscaling certain events. There are a lot of events that are just plain unfun, or do not scale well, and take far too long to do with lots of people.I miss being able to easily chain events and finish them on my own accord – or with my own party – and not have to worry about the hordes of people potentially causing them to fail, or take ridiculous amounts of time.
Honestly most of the events I’ve ran into just go down even faster now.
If anything a lot of them need to scale more.
