Ley Line weapons were pretty and unique. These are blindingly white and bland, especially since they can’t be dyed.

Nostalgia shots fired.

Do they have ANY effects? If they have any of the ghostly blue/purple glow/blur like the Chaos Gauntlets in GW1, I might consider taking a closer look, but if they are just bright white, I’ll pass.

They have engravings on them from what I recall……..but good luck seeing those unless you’re fairly close. Even then the bright kitten white tends to override them.

Honestly, if they were a bit less bright with a darker color for the engravings, they’d look much better.

As it stands now, they look like your graphics card is starting to die at first glance.

Stop whining and do fractals. If you haven’t noticed is that this scavenger hunt make you do many different parts of the game. You will have to do JPs and Mini Dungeons to get future parts, will you complain about doing Front of Rhand which is done less times than fractals. This is good sign of them implementing task based rewards, not the rng bullkitten that been in the game so far, and you are complaining about it. Don’t ruin it and do 5 days worth of lvl 11 daily, they are not hard and don’t take long.
Don’t complain the the game expect you to do difficult things to get ascended lvl rewards.

I do indeed do fractals, but I’d much prefer it if you could get it for WvW tokens also.

It would still make sense also. WvW = Mist War = Mist Stone

I don’t know guys, but I really, really prefer textures on my weapons.

This axe is so bright it looks photo edited. How are the GW1 chaos weapons better?

Simple, nostalgia.

People don’t realise the chaos axe was just as boring, it just was bright as kitten thus stood out despite being one of the most boring skins in any game. Exactly the same as the GW2 chaos weapons.

The only difference is chaos axe could be dyed, but that just made it a different shade of bore.

Does anyone know if there’s an actual difference in appearance between the ascended version and the infused ascended version. If there’s not I don’t see a problem. There’s not even a difference in stats.

Unlikely, the only difference between infused and regular ascended is the ability to put special agony that goes from +1 to as high as…………..no idea actually. Not sure it has a cap. Pretty sure all ascended look the same as their infused versions.

I really never liked the chaos items in GW1, as they looked exactly too lazy on the first glance. Afterwards, I thought they must have taken some time but they still never “wowed” me.

Similarly, I think this set of weapons begins by looking uninspired and ends looking just as tacky as the chaos axe and gloves did in GW1. (I think they were more a status symbol, “look at me I did Fissure! I farmed components for the crafter! I spent way too much on these to look ugly” kind of status symbol.

Still wasn’t as bad as Obsidian.

This, so much kitten this.

When I first GW1 (late in it’s life span) I thought they were common skins because of boring they looked and how kitten often I saw them in Kamadan.

so nobody things the original idea from GW1 was fine the way it was?
there is like , no detail, u can tell its an axe for the shape (duh) and thats it, nothing else needed, the GW2 chaos weapons set is overdoing it imo, and dont get me started with the glowing animation.

Tbh I was never fond of the chaos axe in GW1 either >_>

But at least you could dye it.

It’s not a matter if motivation; as many of you pointed out, there’s plenty of that to go around.

But the story is heavily, and I mean heavily, biased towards the plant-like race. That’s what puts me off something like this.

I know it’s free and all that, but I don’t HAVE to like it just because of that.

At the same stand point, Jormag will likely be heavily biased towards Norn

Kralk will likely be heavily biased towards Charr (and maybe humans)

etc etc etc

The main issue I think, is more that we are going into a very sylvari focused dragon right after Zhaitan, which also was very Sylvari focused mainly due to Trahearne.

I love these new weapons! Especially because they look subtle and elegant. I usually rrreally dislike the stuff with lots of glow, since usually they also involve weird shapes and sparkles (such as the Molten weapons) but these ones are brilliant! Glad that I saved my tickets, definitely picking up something for my Guardian.

I’m very curious to see what other skins you consider subtle and elegant.

Those are the last words I’d use to describe a brighter then the sun tent pole.

LS for non sylvari?

Celestina.2894

But how does it look like story-wise for less leafy players? Do they get some sorta unique comment or motivation to kick the enemies or it’s just “well i’m not sylvari, but i’m here, and it’s this or getting bored so…”?

1. Chance to knock off another dragon? Check

2. Killing off a threat to your species (even if it’s not focusing on you just yet) that is becoming increasingly active? Check

I’m not sure why our hero NEEDS more motivation then that.

Hell, for Norn like myself, the very fact that it’s another addition to my character’s legend is more then enough of a reason for her to burn a dragon’s hide off. Sure, the Norn could focus on Jormag, but alone they haven’t made much if any progress. Nor have the Charr with Kralkatorik. Humans and Asura I feel might be even worse off if a dragon attacked them directly.

The only time there has been ANY success against a dragon was with the war against Zhaitan, which required the full attention and resources of three of the most powerful factions in Tyria. And Zhaitan was the runt of the elder dragons.

Also, my norn had extra dialogue with Knut. Something along the lines of “for to long we’ve been prey, it’s time we become hunters again” or something like that.

I am starting to think either Anet has managed to hit a vein of hype with some minor point of this update, hired people to deflect the walls of hate with randomly positive comments or the floodgates of new players that have barely experienced the game have opened by the end of summer.

It’s not that this is a horrible patch or anything, but this really is an odd amount of random praise when the first one, which arguably brought the most new content, barely got any at all.

I recall the first one getting a good amount of praise also ;o

They’ve all gotten a decent amount of praise tbh, minus the previous one.

The average player can easily beat this. It’s the lower 1% that are having difficulties.

Hey look, yet another person missing the point. The imaginary 1% that you’re referring to isn’t even present in this thread, outside of a number that you could probably count on one hand. The main complaint is how obnoxious the mechanics are. Not the difficulty level.

What’s obnoxious?

The fear wards that go down like wet tissue paper?

The slow moving, giant blue orbs that basically plead for you to slow down to a walk so they can catch you?

The menders that are made of ghostly wet tissue paper?

The bright as hell orange circles tell you to get out of the way?

The easily cleansed chill?

To be honest, the majority of the fight is countered by moving around (or standing on the right or left side of the statue, in which case your only concern becomes the orbs and the menders)

I can’t agree with the damage part at all. I came from a ranger and I can say that the damage is anything but low. You name single abilities but the way I see it ele uses a huge combination of its abilities to do huge damage. Ele has theoretically the highest possible burst damage.

Get your keybinds and combos sorted and everything works out fine. I struggled playing ele for a while until I rebound my attunements.

Tbh, even on single targets eles have stupid high damage. Lava font is silly, and the bigger the target the sillier meteor shower becomes.

The added massive aoe capabilities is just another cake entirely.

Fractal weapons are basically the only reason to run fractals, and really the only weapons with any true rarity.

If anything, give them some extremely high fractal relic cost, and/or make it so you can only get them after completing a specific fractal level.

Hell, the fractal weapons are more legendary then the legendary weapons.

Prediction: Why Rytlock Failed

in Living World

Celestina.2894

Rytlock didn’t expect his actions in the tomb to break the entire curse. His sole purpose of going into the tomb was to test his theory about the sword, before attempting to break the curse at its source.

While that would certainly make sense, it was never stated or implied. By his actions and words, he was intent upon ending the curse then and there, and I truly believe he was trying to do so.

I’m actually believing Rytlock had the wrong item and chant for the ritual. He really need a blowfish and say “Yo Mo Gui Gwai Fai Di Zao…”

Anyway, slept through it. Twas mind-numbingly easy and uninspired – they didn’t even bother thinking of another boss for the fight, just anet style.
Today a friend of mine breaks in a hearty laughter on ts and pings me something.

I read it a little and now I sit here, hands in my hair, void eyes, wondering how could anyone possibly find this fight so hard that s/he thinks it requires a party.
No, seriously, I’m trying. I’m thinking. I just don’t understand. I don’t understand what the problem was.

Now you understand why we so rarely get even slightly difficult content.

there would be nothing wrong with difficult content if it wasn’t forced on people that don’t want to do it

i hate liadri cause i wanted the AP, but I didn’t want to do liadri, i got the kill and 8 orbs, but i hated it then and i hate it now, and i hate the fact that i was forced to do such cheap shot hard content like liadri just for the AP

we should all get everything, and then when people want hard content, it’s optional so that their challengered desires are filled and met, while also our desires are filled and met, that’s how it should be

hard content should be optional, and you should get 0 ap for it, because you only do it for the challenge of it.

You realize you are essentially complaining that hard content has a reward yes?

Do you even comprehend how idiotic your complaint is?

God I hope you were just being sarcastic with that post.

What would Gwen have thought of Tyria in GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Celestina.2894

Celestina.2894

I think she’d be pretty ticked that when the charr pressed up to the gates of Ascalon, Adelbern decided to rage-quit and take all his subjects down with him. I could see her view being “If the charr were to wipe us out, then so be it — so long as the last Ascalonian went down fighting. But our nation didn’t die at the hands of the charr. We died at the hands of our own king in a desperate, despicable and selfish act of cowardice.”

.

I doubt Gwen would embrace the Charr version of events. She was alive then, remember. No need to accept the lies.

From GW2 Wiki, King Adelbern.

“Accounts of this conflict differ between human and charr records. In human accounts, his forces fell to the charr and Adelbern was left to fight the charr alone. He eventually fought his way to the Imperator of the Flame Legion, wielder of the Claw of the Khan-Ur. The Claw clashed with Magdaer, Adelbern’s sword, and caused a spark of power that engulfed the land for leagues around. This event became known as the Foefire. "

Further, seeing that reconciliation with Pyre achieved nothing and changed nothing re their attitude as a race Gwen would see no reason to not hate the animals even more.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/King_Adelbern

At the same stand point, we have no idea if the human account is true.

In all honestly, both versions are probably full of lies and misinformation.

She’d be suspicious of the charr and the treaty, but not outright hostile toward them. She’d probably warn the Vanguard to keep an eye on the charr, in case they decide to alter the terms of the deal. But for now, working with them — at arm’s length, mind you — is the smarter tactical move. But when the Dragons are defeated, you better keep your blades out because humanity’s next threat could be the furball that’s been watching your back all this time.

Tbh, this sounds about right. She wouldn’t be “OMG CHARR ARE OUR BESTEST FRIENDS EVAR” but she wouldn’t be idiotic enough to go and join the Separatists.

The first blue ball that explodes on you teaches you to avoid them (run/dodge/stability). The fears are small red circles painted on the ground covering very little of the floor space. The chill does next to nothing.

The CC in this fight is barely a factor. A mesmer should be able to GS their way through this without blinking. Take a missile reflect skill if you want to cheese most of the ghosts into killing themselves for you.

worth mentioning the fear wards can be destroyed also, very quickly at that.

Actually, no. They wear furs purposedly and solely to honor the spirits. This is stated by several NPCs, including the female norn as close as right outside the asura gate in Hoelbrak; Norn do not feel the Shiverpeaks cold, and find no necessity for the warmth pelts or fur may provide. It is merely a spiritual factor, and it is safe to assume if this wasn’t a PG 13 game there would be random norn walking in their, eh, natural selves around.

They honor the animal spirits by killing off animals representing those, and than flaying them? very cheesy piece of lore right here.
Where I’m from they call this genocide
