Mursaat Appearance

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Celestina.2894

My guess? They’re a result of Seer/Mursaat relationships.

As far as I know, we don’t know what the biology of the Seer or Mursaat is like nor do we know everything about their conflict. Who’s to say there was a splinter group that thought the conflict was foolish and who’s to say they can’t mate assuming they even mate and reproduce in the sense that we know?

Would also be a handy way of explaining why they look so different, if Anet chooses to.

Are you going to buy HoT?

Celestina.2894

No, I can’t say I will till I see a few things

1. More info, most of the stuff I cared about was vague at best and as of now I still have no interest in actively playing again. I need more details.

2. I need to see a price. Right now, the expansion sounds small, and I need to know if that price will reflect that before I decide I’m gonna buy it. $20-$30? Sure, I’ll be willing to take a dive. Anything above that however? Absolutely not.

3. I want to see stuff that has been bugged since launch either finally fixed before or with the launch of the expansion.

It will, almost surely, be a full-priced expansion.
Good luck finding a new game ^^

Oh, I’ve already found one. Didn’t take long, I was just hoping this presentation would provide actual details.

well, maybe i should edit out the part about exotic junk…

i included it originally, because people in the other thread called it junk in relation to precursors ( 100s of gold) and the “rare skin” exotics that sell for 10g and up

Yeaaah let’s be honest, what isn’t junk compared to precursors?

LS was meant as xpac or gap filler?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Celestina.2894

Celestina.2894

Neither.

Living Story is not meant as an expansion nor a gap filler. It’s actually an extension of your personal, and continued, story.

It’s also supposed to give updated content that keeps players interested. Unlike other MMOs, where the endgame doesn’t exist, is raiding for gear, or strange things like Hutt Ball, the endgame is plot progression, achievement hunting for titles, gears, and minis, and exploration of new zones as they are released.

Living Story is kind of like an episodic television show where you are the main character.

Thus the wording of ‘Seasons’ in ArenaNet’s vocabulary.

Hunting for mini’s, completing fun crafts, hunting for ranger-pets, collecting mounts and other fun items. I love to do that (in mmo’s), but as far as it’s even in GW2 (of the examples basically only mini’s and fun items (toys) are). It’s mainly cash-shop or gold-grind. So not really fun. LS and PS is not very interesting if you are not a real story person. So I do hope that this HoT is an expansion and the endgame will again move towards that sort of things in stead of keeping that cash-shop or gold-grind and having the LS stuff to try and keep people bussy or as you name it ‘end-game’.

WvW was more end-game for me but that also gets old after you have done that for over a year because of the way it’s designed.

Honestly, even as someone really into story I stopped caring about the LS after…..Shadow of The Dragon, iirc. The constant cliff hangers just REALLY got on my nerves. I hate when a weekly TV show goes on a mid season break enough as it is. GW2 is even worse in that respect because it’s very little story progression every 2 weeks and being painfully predictable.

so what you are saying is:

“please take my money and offer me nothing meaningful in return, I don’t want my money to be used to make actual game content”

And this seems like a good idea to you?

So, 3 new maps, one new dungeon set (fractals), 40 hours of story (30 for season 1, 10 for season 2), new weapon and armour skins, 5 new traits per profession, a new wardrobe system etc. are nothing meaningful?

And then you realize GW1 got all that and more (minus the wardrobe and traits, but that wasn’t really needed due to how armor and builds in GW1 worked) in less time then GW2…..we are nearing 3 years, the amount of content GW2 has received since launch is really insignificant compared to it’s predecessor and other MMOs.

Meh……I just can’t get excited.

New race? They can’t even get charr armor right, so that’s out of the question.

New class? Maybe, but I have my doubts considering nothing substantial about current classes has changed since launch.

New dungeons? They’ve already said they have no future plans for them, so that’s out also.

So….what does that leave? Maybe a handful of maps, and some LS like content bundled with some feature pack stuff maybe?

Honestly, unless this expansion is massive game changer, I’m sticking to FF14.

Granted it doesn’t help that I so god kitten tired of plants in GW2.

New year new content ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Celestina.2894

So much wishful thinking. At this point, I expect even less new content than we’ve gotten so far. 2014 gave us almost a whole 6 hours worth of new content. For 2015, I’m expecting maybe 3. Of that, 90% will be listening to unskippable dialogue from characters whom I dislike nearly as much as I do Trahearne.

Also expect more senseless redesigns! Then a six month long hiatus from any public forum from the devs while they pretend that everything is fine!

Why are you even playing this game? You obviously don’t like it. Or is that that you do like the game, and you just hate not having everything you want right when you want it?

Fun fact: A person can like a game and still greatly dislike aspects of it and recognize it’s issues. In fact the player who is 100% ok with everything, all the time, is the WORST player to listen to.

But i am also assuming my gear will downscale as well correct?

Right now i am a level 15 but it says my effective level is 6. I just find that totally depressing. I am not a level 6. I should be able to crush level 6 enemies

Your gear will downscale yes, but barely. You’ll still be one shotting kitten near everything below 60 if you are fully geared at 80 for example. You’ll still have things like runes and sigils that are not down scaled however.

Ele sounds like something you might enjoy tbh.

Now, ele will start off seeming weak at first but that’s only because of the trait changes and the NPE.

Elementalist has great support, both from weapon and utilities, great weapon choices for melee and range, HIGHLY mobile with blinks, dashes, speed boosts (both passive and active), the ability to inflict 25 stacks of vuln with just a air attuned glyph of storms, summons, and some of the highest damage in the game while also being kitten near 100% AoE.

For PVE, you’ll still be squishy, but then most classes are since everyone uses zerker in PVE.

For PVP however you have the option of celestial gear, which is perfect for ele because of how the way their kits work. This allows Ele to both have decent damage and be rather tough with the right weapon sets.

You can definitely tell that the writers for GW2 are not the same writers A-Net had for GW. The stories in GW were just written much better. I think the writers are even different when you look at the early Personal Story(levels 1-30) and the story once you choose your faction(Priory/Whispers/Vigil).

Factions says hi.

That plot was horrendous.

So I wasn’t the only one who thought that was the second weakest storyline?

Tbh I felt it was the worst by a long shot.

Hell I forgot who the villain even was for a good year.

To be fair, Shiro Tagachi was the only thing I liked about Factions’ story. . . until his origin and future motives were cranked to the side in Nightfall. (Don’t mind the Lich all that much – he had minor amounts of characterization anyway.)

Prophecies was the worse campaign by a long shot from my estimation. Eight story segments which were set up largely as a way to shepherd you from region to region . . . the first four parts were very weak compared to later and could/did get sliced off when the Storybooks were added.

The characters were worse, much worse, than whatever anyone says about the Biconics right now in GW2. Two obvious “sudden but inevitable betrayers”, several obvious sacrificial characters, and allies who couldn’t do anything . . . anything without you doing the heavy lifting despite apparently being leaders of large factions of people.

The campaign had loads of dead weight in terms of area, too, with massive stretches which seemed to be little more than padding time into walking from mission to mission if you were trying to sequence break. Not to mention the incredibly tedious “Beacon’s Perch to Camp Rankor” trip which was full of nothing but dense enemies.

All this culminating in the final problem – its initial design philosophy. It was intended to be a primer in how to play before players jumped into PvP pursuits. As such, looking at how it was a loosely-written story with many missions choosing to showcase things used in the PvP map types (especially the Crystal Desert) . . . you can tell the campaign was something which had enough effort to be a good start on a backdrop and world-building, but it doesn’t stand as a campaign like the others.

Overall I agree with you, I honestly never felt the writing in GW has ever been super strong. The lore? Great. But the writing? Ha ha no.

No, they don’t. I have tested it many times on my ele. It may LOOK like the full cast was finished, but keep in mind multiple “pulses” are cast as the ele is channeling. As a result, if a ele cancels it early the ele actually loses out on damage and makes it easier to dodge.

What GW2 needs is elite areas like GW1 had.

Underworld
Fissure of Woe
Realm of Anguish
The Deep
Urgoz’s Warren
Slavers Exile

And so on. These areas can be rewarding and fun.

But that takes quite a lot of effort. So lets revamp how people purchase gems to make it more profitable for us.

We already have that. It’s called FOTM lvl 50

Ah yes FOTM 50, where I get a uninfused soldier ring for my trouble. Assuming my party doesn’t run into any of the potentially dungeon ending bugs.

Yes, so very rewarding.

Now if you’ll excuse me I’ll be over in the corner, being ever so rewarded by my lack of any fractal skin since it originally launched.

Anyways, here’s a few pictures I found of it:

What’s this? A character showing their legs from the backside? Is that legal? After seeing so many trenchcoats, rear capes and long skirts in GW2, I was under the impression that the ESRB must have banned them from games rated T.

FF14 armor is actually very nice……..and very, very fair with skimpy when the armor does go skimpy.

Check all the other MMO’s on the market, GW2 still slays them graphically. Not a single one doesn’t look like a sloppy f2p k-mmo. Even the newest subbed ones, it’s sad but true.

I’d say if anet needs to fix one thing graphically, it would be the motion blur, and FOV. Pretty archaic by modern standards, tons of new games are nailing it, I think it’s time anet caught up in that realm, it’s been the same since release and I leave it disabled since it’s ugly — though I love graphics options and hate having to disable them for making it uglier.

FF14 looks gorgeous and kicks the kitten of every MMO on the market, the hell are you talking about?

Is archage really that good?

The foundation is good, amazing even. Housing, gliders, farms, completely player ran jury system, player ran everything really, naval warfare………

But the land combat is meh, and Trion can’t run it worth a kitten. Infested by bots, hackers, scammers, oh and Trion can’t even get the payment systems working for a lot of players for about a month now.

She’s the public face of what looks like an attempt to swindle folks out of cash. Not an enviable position.

Where do people come up with all this kitten?

The whole system of tier payments like this are designed for just that. It’s entire purpose is to ensure a high chance of the customer having left over, useless gems. The goal in such a situation is that it will further entice them to spend more so that they can actually use said gems. Riot, owners of League of Legends, do the exact same thing.

This has nothing to do with making it more simple to use. Instead Anet is using these magical myths about new players who can’t even tie their own shoe laces in a attempt to justify these rather insulting changes lately.

To that end, i’m very close to quitting this game entirely. I can’t delve into that more without inviting the banhammer, so i’ll leave at that.

You’re not alone in considering the quit route. As soon as Halloween passes and takes the clock tower and inquisition with it, I am gone and heading to TSW. I hear it’s Halloween event is pretty nice.

Whoa, this is bad. But, I think I’ve figured some of it out. In a word: China. In another word: NCSoft. At least it fits all the clues.

Think about how as one player put it “… Game has changed direction in the last 6 months…” Specifically:

o NPE – Who are these “New Players?” NA/EU is pretty well tapped. China is new.
o Common Code Tree – Why? To piggyback on the China devs work. Confirmed.
o Feature Patch – Leftovers from China rollout. Confirmed.
o Gem Store UI – " Make it easier to understand." For China.
o The Delay – Anet was freaked out by the China drop as well.
o Cmrd Tags – “Horrible version of the CDI!” China devs didn’t read it.
o Projected Profit – An after thought poorly integrated. China does not want it.
o Female Idle Animations – Breaks a Rule under China game codes.
o Repeated Content – Not to China.
o No Communication – Anet is in the dark too.

At least it makes a lot more sense. Anet isn’t that stoopid to make so many errors in design as have been rolled out the discussed timeframe. And if you think about it, it’s a pretty savvy business plan: NCSoft eats X% of NA/EU rage quitters but we were pretty tapped out anyway. They gain Y% of new China players they can re-sell old content to and get access to cheap China Devs who never see our forums. Result: Z% Won increased profit. The main purpose of a business is to return value to it’s shareholders. Bingo!

Then after NCSoft realizes they will lose more than X% of the NA/EU players they green light a fix by Anet. Once again there is Joy in Whoville.

I’m not sure of how I feel about it all. When the China roll out was announced I was kinda excited to think we’d all be in the same World game. Looks like we are and that comes with a cost.

I know everybody is pretty upset right now but again we’ll get a little tweak to make things right. I’d expect more of this in the future. Looking forward this means more resources resulting in a healthier game. Meanwhile, Anet mostly in the form of Gaile are left to scramble dealing with a fire that could have been avoided.

The deal is if we knew about it we might say “Yea.” We have had a lot of good things happen lately. Welcome to 21st century gaming… Smile and be as Happy as You Can.

Of course their metrics are based on the Chinese market, and guess what: they played the game because they had no other option, and if there happen to be more players in China than in NA/EU, it’s normal we get screwed.

Everything buggy we’ve had so far is a copy of the Chinese game, the “metrics”… That’s how I understand it, due to the lack of transparency.

So, as many said, subscription fee coming in Nov., and by 2015 you’ll only have access to the warrior class, and each class should be unlocked for 401 gems each.

Tbh, if a sub/vip thing does so up (and at this point yeah, I fully expect) we all may as well move to FF14. I hear they give a kitten about their player base.

Ok, guys. Some of you are unhappy about this change, I can see that. BUT… quite honestly, most of you are sort of (I hate to use the word) ranting (sorry!) instead of offering suggestions.

I assure you, the team leader told me not 15 minutes ago, they will listen to suggestions.

  • Does that mean you get everything you want? Probably not.
  • Does that mean you should suggest something? Yes, of course! Because they’re expecting player input.

So you want lower increments? Think it through and present a suggestion! You want XYZ in the interface? Post that idea. You would rather see something else? Post what you think about that other thing. Please don’t get into the whole “I’m going to kick the devs and their little dogs, too” because it’s not doing you or us any good at all.

I’m not here to apologize. I’m here to communicate and right now, the communication is coming in without a whole lot of substance. Over to you for suggestions and constructive input!

You know why it’s coming through ranty? Because we feel like you just spit in our faces. First with the change in the first place, and then NOT APOLOGIZING FOR IT.

What makes it worse in my mind is the suggestions being offered are all common sense, things whoever created this new one should have thought of immediately.

Add that on top of things like butchering the hell out of the personal story, gating traits horridly even AFTER we provided feed back…………………….yeah, sorry, but you guys deserve the ranty sounding posts at this point.

Hey there,

Here are a few tidbits from the team:

  • A lot of newer players had trouble with the interface. That doesn’t apply to you, you’re veterans who have been around the conversion block a time or two. But newer players will benefit from the updated system.
  • The goal was to make the Gem Store more like other shopping experiences, and if you think about it, there is more of that feel to it now.
  • You may be surprised to know this (I know I was) but very few people bought gems at smaller denominations than the first one offered in the new system. That’s not to say they never did, nor that there wouldn’t be the desire to do so. But overall, the current options were selected based on player purchases in the past.
  • The team is going to listen to your feedback and, if and when it’s practical and desirable, they can look towards adjusting the new system to better meet your needs.

So please keep your thoughts coming on the new system. Feel free to make suggestions but please, keeping them constructive would be very much appreciated.

I’m sorry, but I really can’t believe you guys anymore till we see proof. Your charts, your metrics, whatever.

Give us a REASON TO BELIEVE anything you say, please, because right now it’s impossible for any sensible vet to do so.

You guys constantly fall back on “oh such and such is a bug” or “oh such and such is an unintended oversight” and my favorite “oh such and such is intended, but we’re totally going to listen to your feed back, promise, pinky swear!” and nothing happens.

This was really just a plain stupid move form Anet, can’t see any good or positive thing about this change, it’s just maddening stupid. No one asked for it, no one wkittent, it’s just super kittened, sorry fo the foul languag ebut that’s just how it is.

I hope they change this very soon / very quick, or they’ll have seen money from me for the last time in this game buying gems, this is just outragously stupid.

They’ve lost any future purchases from me even if they do revert it. This complete lack of any comprehension of what their player base wants and/or can handle is just a terrible joke at this point.

Oh hum. So strange. I don’t mind the simplification but the amounts are very odd. =/ There should be a 100gem increment at least.

I totally get why Anet does it, Riot does the same thing. It’s a system designed to make sure there is a high chance of you having left over gems, but not enough to buy something else usually. Thus adding further push for you to spend more.

For example, bought 800 gems but spent it on a 700 gem costume? Well you may as well buy more gems to get that hair style kit son!

It’s a system designed to screw the consumer.

To be fair, the outfit also gives everyone reverse jointed legs and hooves. Charrs missing their tails isn’t any worse than every other race taking Ogden’s hammer to their knees.

Everyone unless you happen to be a humanoid with breasts.

In which case kitten you, enjoy the heels sucker.

I don't know if I should keep playing mesmer

mesmers are awesome !
they make the plays and are high risk high reward (talking about 4 4 0 0 6 shatter don’t get strange ideas), master mesmers mechanics and you will really play gw2 pvp to the fullest.

where is the risk when you never die?

Ooh ooh! It’s the guy from the profession balance forums that got torn into small pieces by Rylock and now complains nonstop about mesmers! We’ve been visited by a celebrity.

yeah besides thief who else can kill you?

Warriors, Eles, Necros, some Guardians, other Mesmers, Rangers[Especially with their new pew-pew builds], and a good many decap engis.

rangers are now for the first time equal with mesmers,
facemelters with too much utility and survivability also

See, let me explain to you the difference between yourself and a good player.

Good Player: Gosh, that [mesmer/ranger/other class] is quite strong and [beat/almost beat/destroyed] me. As a result, I’ll [improve/learn/adapt] until I can beat them.

You: Gosh, that [mesmer/ranger/other class] is quite strong and [destroyed] me. As as result, I’ll [go to the forums and complain nonstop].

Source: looked at your posting history. Over the past 5 months, over 90% of your posts have been complaining in one form or another about how you got beaten by someone else.

You, you sir or madam, you I like.

Does fixing the hack job they did with the last part of the personal story count?

gw2 morality

Celestina.2894

just did this hear that went against everything i believe in :/

Its the one in iron marches where you “motivate” prisoners by whipping them and the heart guy says you can whip them and fight them if they fight back but don’t kill them “because we aren’t sadists.”

I feel it’s much more sadistic to keep someone alive in chains and work them endlessly by whip rather than to just kill them :S

Your first mistake was taking human morality and attempting to apply it to an entirely different species, a species that has been bred for war and victory at all costs.

If you knew some of the crap we Asura do………

Also I feel this is a fitting topic for this image,
