Warrior is most played, which also leads to the warrior running the risk of being redundant in a group. Generally any more then 1, maybe 2, warriors is a waste of space. Though that only matters if you’re worried about speed running, if not then play whatever you want.

Personally, I prefer my ele. It’s great for all content and just brings out the evil laughter in me when I meteor shower a zerg.

This has to be a joke or troll thread.

I refuse to believe the player base can be this bad at level 80.

…is literally the worst thing you have ever put in the Living Story, season 1 included, besides Liadri. It literally took me 25 minutes to kill it, and I did not die once, and I always killed all the menders…if I knew it was like that I would’ve found a group of people to do it with.

Next time, put a warning label on it ‘’this content should be attended with a group of people’’ or something like that

not.fun.at.all. way.too.long

You are way.too.bad.

Get out of your Clerics/Nomads comfort zone and try to learn the encounter (not that there’s much to learn). You barely had to dodge at all, you were able to simply kite the spectral flames which real name I forgot und the ascalonian menders were slow as hell, not to mention the obvious tells and the nice, orange-red aoe-indicator which basically screams “press V now!”

Seeing that you have so much problems with such an encounter, may I ask you which class you play with what kind of build? We might be able to give you useful tips so that you can improve your gameplay.

Shrug. You’re just a bad player.

Nothing about this takes 25 minutes. For the record, I’ve not been a living story fan in the past. They’ve made big steps in the right direction though. This is a fun fight with some mechanics and attacks to mind.

It’s not difficult but does require you to pay attention to attacks and enemies. It’s very easy to solo. You mind Rytlock’s instructions, evade attacks, and put out damage on the statue. Also mind mender pathing and hop back to CC and burn them down. If you need the mender achievement, you let them buff him and continue as normal.

It’s actually engaging and interesting. An absolute lolmode quest with a group though. You’re just a bad player. They’ve made some great content here.

And I never said It’s bad content, I think it’s great content.

“is literally the worst thing you have ever put in the Living Story, season 1 included, besides Liadri.”

One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn’t belong.

Yes it’s up to the writers, and as far as I know we havent dealt with time travel yet. Although it would be cool to have something like that, a totally changed timeline as part of the LS season 2 story arch….

We did have time travel actually……though in a completely “for the lulz” April Fools event in GW1

As anzenketh says, it’s REALLY up to the writers as to what the universe of GW2 allows as far as toying with time.

There are also Norn ghosts in Cursed Shore, so humans aren’t the only ones.

From the wiki:

Most restless spirits have some sort of reason for hanging around a place: an unfinished task, a wrong that needs righting, and so on. They’re often coherent, and you can hold a reasonable conversation with them. They can be obsessive, or angry, but they’re sane—sane for ghosts, at least.

Something is holding her back from going into the Mist. What could it be?

My guess?

Either Marjory is doing/did something and/or Belinda will play some fairly major role soon. Anet doesn’t normally do stealth changes like this and never do anything with them, not to mention the fact that this was added in the very same episode dealing with ghosts.

Come on, surely you can make a better troll attempt then that.

You can get the entire GW1 complete pack on steam sale for like 20 bucks. Keep an eye out for it. You would spend that much in the gem store anyway. Why not have an entire game full of content instead? It’s not that hard to unlock the skins the normal way.

Actually if you look, the packs only have 1-2 of the expansions, not all 3, same as the Anet site, there does not seem to be a pack that has them all. ( I looked other day )

IIRC, there is but for some reason it’s a EU thing only. Though not on steam.

Celestina.2894

…the relevant information is more likely to be found in Guild Wars 2 rather than the first installment.

That’s all I needed to hear. Thanks!

It really doesn’t matter what you think about GW2 “retconning” or contradicting the lore in GW1. He/She has a valid point.

Taken verbatim from the very first thing a newborn charr player hears in the game:

“I am a charr. In this world of constant battle, I am the deadliest weapon of all. I respect no authority but the clenched fist of my Legion. With engines of destruction, we have killed our gods. We reclaimed our homeland of Ascalon, and we planted victory banners on the graves of our enemies.”

I’m just going to leave that here for the “what do charr call their home” debate.

You’re quoting a line from the GW2 wiki which contradicts GW1? Are you new here?

>implying GW1 told everything from the perspective of the Charr

>implying it told everything from the perspective of the humans.

You really can’t make an argument that most of the lore was not a human perspective. Certainly a more human then charr perspective.

Celestina.2894

Anet writers ignoring their own game’s lore again. You need Sohothin, Magdaer and a descendant of Doric to break the curse.

That was based on a legend that is yet to be proven. According to Charr’s account of the Foefire, King Al struck the ground in desperation to kill Charrs and cursed them in the process. Thus, Rytlock thinks it would be the same way, striking the ground, to release the curse…maybe.

I would like to see Rytlock summons the Prince instead…it would be very interesting seeing the ghostly Prince confronting his ghostly dad.

In an epic quest in which he suicidally runs in to large packs of enemies in a mad rush for an alternate weapon that… makes it drizzle a little.

Side note:
A ghostly stormcaller that the costantly reliving rurik blows every hour would be hilarious. Add some charr nearby with earmuffs and umbrellas who constantly complain about all the racket, and an event that makes it stop raining for a little bit.

Oh god my sides.

i don’t think a charr can lift a curse only a true ascalonian can lift, it’s like having an average joe killing apocalypse, it’s just not possible.

The thing about curses is they have a tendency to be either extremely literal or extremely vague.

For example in the recent movie Maleficent, “true love’s kiss” was the kiss of a mother/mother-like figure on her daughter’s forehead because no truer form of love exists according to that movie’s version of the curse.

What IS a true Ascalonian?

Is it the humans that dubbed the land Ascalon?

Or is the Charr who first conquered it, lost it to the humans, then made it the goal of their entire species to take back and succeeded? Doesn’t that also sound like a “True Ascalonian”?

Or, are BOTH races considered true Ascalonians?

Moredremoth intends to conquer/kill dragons?

in Living World

Posted by: Celestina.2894

Celestina.2894

So this is just a fun little theory I’ve been toying with since we learn just how kitten aggressive of a dragon our little friend Mord is.

So, why do I think this COULD be a possibility?

1. The dragons are forces of nature. Bubbles = water, Prim = volcanoes etc etc. In an ideal situation, forces of nature keep each other in check, a constant push and pull.

Now, Mordemoth can be said to represent growth/life while Zhaitan was death/decay. In most stories, what happens when one force if nature is weakened or even outright removed? The opposing force becomes more powerful, potentially growing out of control. Essentially, we may have kittened up royally by slaying Zhaitan.

2. Tequatl’s power buff is in the lore, and has been said to relate to current events. Considering Mordemoth was stirring around this time, it’s very possible Tequatl is now a servent of Mordemoth. Obviously this one has some flaws, as everything so far has told us that each dragon controls their own domain and that’s it but I can’t really think of any other reason that relates to current events.

3. The end of episode 2. In that cutscene we see the dragons floating around a center, in balance, after their awakenings. And yet, Mordemoth charges straight into the center. The very thing all other elder dragons are revolving around.

Some people think this represents the pale tree (including your character and Scarlet) but I think this represents what the tree is grown above. That being, potentially the ley line “source”. If Mordemoth could claim that, possibly the highest concentration of magic in Tyria he could very well increase his power by unheard of amounts.

4. Mordemoth has been extremely aggressive, to a degree not even Zhaitan could have hoped to match. He has already spread as far as the Iron Marches ( I believe that’s the charr zone shown in the trailer) which is not only on the other side of the map, but strangely close to Kralk’s territory. In addition, we see the edges of Jormag’s territory. Now unless we’ll going to politely asking Jormag for his help, that scene implies to me Mordemoth also has his eyes (vines?) set in that direction.

Again, this is just a fun little theory I’ve been toying around with since release. I’m sure it’s got plenty of holes you guys will be able to find, but eh, just thought I’d toss it out there.

The only thing in the trailer that confused me was the 3 second scene showing ice brood. Anyone want to explain that one?

Personally I’m thinking Mordemoth plans to go after the other dragons. He’s shown to be extremely aggressive in his spread, much more so then the other dragons. Hell for all we know is vines could already be in the territory of other dragons.

It almost makes me wonder if we caused this by slaying Zhaitan.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but does the the legend not state only the rightful King of Ascalon wielding either of the swords can lift the curse?

Either this attempt fails as he doesn’t he considered that. Or Rytlock perhaps becomes the Kahn-Ur which could be interpreted as the King of Ascalon.

Or the Legends wrong and you only need the sword.

Keep in mind, it just says KING. And Ascalon was Charr land well before it was Human.

It’s very likely the curse doesn’t give two kittens about your race.

lol, poor Trahearne. The man’s the most hated being in all of Tyria, and his only sin is not being a kitten.

And the terrible voice acting.. when he talks he just sucks all the atmosphere out of the moment.

This is a problem pretty much during the whole PS. I would blame whoever directed it, rather than the voice-actors/actresses.

Hmm…I don’t know, some VA WAS pretty terrible and done by people who obviously lacked the ability to voice action so I can’t really blame it all on one person.

Though nothing, not even Trahearne has managed to top the atrocity that is Factions VA.

SPOILER Living story ripped from Mass Effect

in Living World

Posted by: Celestina.2894

Celestina.2894

Mass Effect:
1. Reapers awaken every 50000 years to consume life
2. Player experiences a vision of the reapers from a beacon (which he inadvertently triggered to save Ashley)
3. Player builds a multi-species coalition to fight reapers

Guild Wars 2:
1. Dragons awaken every 10000 years to consume magic
2. Player experiences a vision of dragons from Omadd’s machine (which he inadvertently triggered to save Taimi)
3. Player builds a multi-species Pact to fight dragons

I think anyone that saw the new cutscene from the most recent episode (that also played Mass Effect) instantly got a flashback to Commander Shepard. At first I thought that the writing got marginally better (compared to season one), but come on… now they’re blatantly ripping off another game with a threadbare plot to begin with?

You can’t seriously be claiming any of that wasn’t done long before Mass Effect.

*Spoilers* Caithe Secret revealed!

in Living World

Posted by: Celestina.2894

Celestina.2894

Here’s my thoughts about Caithe’s secret: Caithe is really an undercover Nightmare Courtier, and she is in cahoots with Faolain. Note that we never killed Faolain at the end of TA story. The duchess just escapes. Plus, Faolain’s attempts to get Caithe back are pretty much a sham.

I think that Scarlet used Omadds machine as a divination device as well as to find out secrets about her family. Why? Caithe was a bully to those who were younger than her, and the Pale Tree let her get away with it. Remember what Caithe said to Caedyn before he created the Nightmare Court: You are either firstborn…or you are simply sylvari.” I believe that statement illustrates Caithe’s REAL personality, and I bet you that she said the same thing to Ceara (aka Scarlet Briar).

Knowing Scarlet’s personality, she wanted to get back at Caithe in any way possible, and she used the machine to stalk the thief. How else would Scarlet have devised a plan to trap the Firstborn in the Aetherblade Dungeon? If you’re going to catch a thief, you have to find out their fighting style and their weaknesses.

……There are some pretty large leaps of logic in that theory, no offense.

I mean, sure, she was a little bit too fascinated by Scarlet’s work, but she’s an Asura child, an especially smart one at that, and she just charges into the machine that drove Scarlet mad and she KNEW it? Did she skip her safety classes? It seems like nothing more that a hook to make the PC enter as well.

You honestly have no idea what Asura are like if you think she even saw danger there.

1. Asura have a superiority complex, a MASSIVE one.

2. Taimi says on multiple occasions that “Had Scarlet been Asura, she would have been fine” or something like that.

3. The machine was designed to see into the Eternal Alchemy itself, something every Asura dreams of being able to see and study. Of COURSE she’s gonna want to jump in.

In short, she saw no danger. It’s completely in-character. She’s a prodigy, but she’s also still young.
