Pet death/healing mechanics ARE stupid though imo. They have insane hp and when they do go to 0 they can be back at full health 7 seconds later…would be nice if killing/damaging the pets DID something. The whole /ignore the pets mechanic is old and lazy.

Use any fun weaponsets/builds for pvp/wvsw?

And by fun I mean something we haven’t been using over and over again….

Weapons we don’t seem to use:
-Sword OH
-Axe OH
-Mace MH OH

Weapons we seem to use:
-Gs
-Axe/Shield + Sword/Shield
-hammer
-Rifle (gimmick build)

Anyone have any of the forgotten weapons in any of their ‘viable’ their builds? i.e. Condition sword user or some other weird build I can’t think of. I would love to use Sword OH (dual swords if possible) in wvsw…..anyone have a build that works?

So is HoT going on sale soon?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Cerby.1069

Yes? No?

Was expecting it to go on sale around Christmas/new years but no luck. I’m starting to think that due to the failure of the expansion they will be talking themselves into keeping the price the same for the first year after launch. I can understand why they might think it’s right to do this. Just for me, they screwed up WvsW and all this other stuff I don’t feel I should reward such behaviors. I would really only be buying HoT for the trait sets, and revenant which I may or may not play….

Interesting OP post. I basically feel the opposite of what you feel. I think the game is too casual and too RNG based now. And that this RNG has destroyed the heart and reasons for repeating content over and over. I agree on a common point though that in the end you are grinding for something that isn’t worth the time spent and is a boring and tedious process to grind.

Why Rep Guilds in 2016?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Cerby.1069

Cerby.1069

To me, repping a guild is a matter of honor. If I’m going to take the time to join a guild and find out about them, and they about me; if I’m going to invest my game time, gold, and mats with this guild, and they’re investing their time helping me, then I want to be proud to represent them.

It’s nice that guilds don’t have to require 100% repping anymore, and it gives their members a lot more freedom. But, as a guild leader, I’m watching to see what my guild members do, or don’t do, when thinking about to whom i should offer promotions. Just as I would rep my guild in order to show my pride in, and loyalty to, them, I would hope to see the same from my guild members.

I think it would be difficult to develop a tight-knit group if everyone is always off doing his or her own thing, with no thought to loyalty to those who ‘have your back’ so to speak.

I dunno, maybe I’m old fashioned in that regard.

Gw2 is heavily casual, loyalty or more accurately, camaraderie do not exist in many. It is a sad thing for gw2. Many people simply hop from one guild to another, just to pass time, achieve their personal goals and that’s it.

Agree with Leota.

I’ll go one step farther and say that I also think it is stupid that you can join 7 or so other guilds and be in all of them at the same time (especially ones on other borderlands). It’s for reasons like this that Loyalty and camaraderie no longer exist. The game doesn’t reward these behaviours, and it actually goes out of it’s way to make players who do uphold these things look stupid. The game is pretty much about going in on a daily basis….doing your dailies and then if you have time then doing the same stuff you did yesterday or the day before that. It just feels like an individual grindfest where everything is a tool and method to grinding more…now guilds are just a tool and method toward personal grind. I feel stupid for being nice to and helping guildies. I feel stupid for supplying materials to a smaller…or any guild. I feel stupid for thinking that guildies stick together and support eachother. I’m wondering to myself why I don’t just join the largest richest guild available….forget what borderland it is on…forget camaraderie and loyalty I should just use it to further my farm and not care either way how it goes. Then when I’m on WvsW I’ll just send messages to the guildchat, selling out my BL for a few silver pennies. This game just feels so disconnect now….
Why should I be nice to someone who is in the guild but not representing? I feel guildies should always be nice to eachother and have eachother’s backs against any outside threats. If you are in the guild and not representing though….how does that make you a guildie in the ‘community’ sense? You are just a random person as far as I’m concerned. As soon as you start representing though I feel the need to treat you with great respect.

Wait if guilds and everything we do is redundant then what was it we are grinding FOR again?

Best DPS Sigil for Gs?

in Warrior

Posted by: Cerby.1069

Currently using
Superior Sigil of Strength (60% on crit gain might for 10 seconds)

http://de.gw2skills.net/editor/?vJEQNAR8ejMdQXIWFCuhAnIG6BKtNC/wArheIHsA4DiAA-T1CEABso+DAPAgY2fgJlDJcBAaSJREHEAwPCAurboLlgPpE7bwBwe7le1LwA2oheHuXhAKvFA-w

Is what I’m running. It’s for WvsW. I was debating replacing superior sigil of strength on the GS with something else. The intent would be to give the Gs more damage. Particularly higher dps for pve type stuff. For Pvp I would just put a sigil of air on there, but like I said the primary intent is raising base dps to a higher level for pve.

My build relies heavily on might stacks. I often get 25 stacks easily when taking a supply camp or doing small engagements where I’m hitting 3 or more enemies at once…I’ll hit 25 in group situations as well fairly fast when we are doing pve. There’s plenty of engagements where I don’t have 25 stacks though…particularly in pvp fights I will never have 25 stacks.
Anyways I wanted some advice on if I should keep the sigil or if there’s something I should switch to like sigil of force.
I was also wondering whether I should just post this under a different class or forum since there isn’t much activity on warrior subsection……where else can I post? o.o

I don’t want any of the 3 maps to disappear. Desert did alot for roamers…although they nerfed the roaming component alot with updates. Honestly just allow every fortified keep on every map to give a waypoint for whoever owns it and all the maps would be so much better.

Should i get into this game?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Cerby.1069

Cerby.1069

I’ve had Guild Wars 2 for about 2 years now but never really gotten into the game because it didn’t really interest me at the time, although I’ve been looking at game play especially for the new Heart of Thorns expansion and it’s starting to catch my attention but before i spend my money and jump into this game i just wanted to ask the community a few questions about the game so if you could fill me in i would be very grateful.

How long does it take to get to max level?
What is PvP like?
Is there new introduction to Raiding any good?
How good is the community? P.S Can’t be any worse than WoW
Is the game difficult to comprehend?

-I don’t know anymore. You can probably get to 80 just running story with the present buffs and easy mode skills.
-Pvp? I find it boring but I never liked it to begin with. I just do WvsW (pvp+pve) which is glitched and broken to the farthest corner of the earth.
-Can’t say on raiding
-Community is pretty meh. It’s not out of control or anything, and there are enough polite people maintaining convention. It’s just meh. UPs and downs all over the place.
-More so than alot of games I would say it is fairly difficult to understand….especially when knowing and taking advantage of glitches/exploits is often pivotal to success.

Hopefully that provides some degree of insight.

"You have joined too many parties recently"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Cerby.1069

Cerby.1069

That’s the nature of the LFG system they made. IF you could do that it would allow people to join from 1 party to the next in rapid succession. Remember when you get a full party the listing goes away from the lfg so newer lfg get filled faster. Already we have a way to abuse/inhibit the system. Countless other things like that occur.

These could be mitigated and changed…. BUUUUUUT Anet doesn’t want to manage or do any work so that’s no good. They made the LFg system the way they did so they could leave it and not have to do any maintenance or upkeep. This means less options, where the fairness and effectiveness of the system is left to the intellectually deficient playerbase to police/control.

My first character, should I roll a Warrior?

in Warrior

Posted by: Cerby.1069

Cerby.1069

Wow terrible advice guys.

Don’t roll a warrior. It’s bad in the current state and we have no idea what will happen to it once patches come out. It’s also very simplistic, so it’s much better to pick it up as your second character….by then it might be patched so its win-win.

Nope,get a rev.

This. Revenant is this game’s warrior class.

What if he ends up mostly doing pve and prefers playing a warrior? He has lots of character slots… there’s nothing wrong with trying them all to see what fits best.

I thought I’d like the thief a lot more than I did, and it was the opposite with mesmer, which I found intuitive. Yet I main warrior because I enjoy it the most and have since learned to be good with it.

There’s no reason to not try out the warrior if he’s looking for a character to level.

There’s always a chance that out of all the classes he/she will find warrior the funnest and SHOULD main them. Lacking any information to determine this though it’s apparent, to me and others, that you should choose the a class that offers a high probability of giving you the funnest gaming experience.

If he’s willing to spend time to level out all the classes before deciding whether the game is fun or worth playing then sure! Start with warrior if you have that kind of patience. In terms of gw2 though my opinion is that your first class should be one that can do the most things in the game and do them well. You will have more fun that way. In alot of games its a case of deciding: pick warrior if I wanna melee, archer if I wanna fight at range, caster if I want to use spells and magics. In Gw2 the classes overlap eachother’s roles and you won’t be exluded from melee if you choose caster or range (and vice versa). So the goal becomes choosing the class that does the most things and the best at those things. This is not warrior.

What if he ends up doing mostly Pve? Well jeez, I would say the exact same thing to them! You don’t see warrior’s solo’ing 5 man dungeons. They go full glass cannon for high damage and take the hits straight on. If your party sucks you will suck. If the party is good you will help them breeze through it faster. Compared to a guardian who can mitigate bad party situations, and still do decent in helping you breeze the content, and has specific skills that make certain things (especially exploits…no shortage of those) easier/faster. I don’t see how +15% speed for dedicated speed runs should be considered vital components of fun. When you get to that stage where you grind things over and over you will likely have more character slots already.

Warrior meta has like 1-2 builds atm for all pvp and pve content…and they are all using full zerker glass cannon with strength or hoelbraek runes with a Gs. So if you want to be fast at doing things you won’t be using condition damage builds at all, just raw dps. It’s very generic after a while, and you will be frustrated at your lack of mobility/versatility using meta builds which are the only viable way to play the class for the difficult content.

If he/she doesn’t care about being viable or effective at playing the game to any extent then there are no reasons to not play warrior or anything at all…..but in this situation I’m not sure why they would even ask the question as to if they should or not. Thus I wouldn’t assume such a thing, nor should you.

Requesting Feature: Private Commander Tag

in WvW

Posted by: Cerby.1069

Cerby.1069

I want as many options as possible put into the squad system. More colours for tags would be welcome as well. A colour code for tag purpose would be even MORE welcome! Yellow: guild runs; Blue: Public groups; Red: Fight group; Pink: whatever

I’m tired of being spied on. Whenever I’m tagged or part of the commander’s squad I seem to get spotted immediately when I go off to solo towers/keeps/sm. If I do it in secret with just 1-2 trustworthy others NOBODY ever finds us.

Sm was fortified and had been under siege with a busted wall for 20 minutes. I Went in and built a ram and took down the inner solo with nobody spotting me. Inside were 4- 5 omega golemns. Countless other examples like this occur. If you tell people in teamchat that you are gonna hit an enemy keep, the enemy is usuallly waiting on the cannons for you regardless of whether you do it in stealth or not (without being seen). It’s painfully obvious the enemy relies on what shows up on ‘our borderland’s’ public map.

Anet instead of limiting us to try and maintain your ‘almighty vision’ of WvsW, you should try to just give players what they want with no strings attached! You couldn’t make things any worse at this point.

We’ve avoided adding this feature because we don’t believe it would be healthy for WvW. While we can appreciate why some players would want a feature like this, lots of other players only engage in WvW when, upon entering a WvW map, immediately see a commander icon to follow. We try and avoid adding features that can be used to intentionally exclude other players.

Players are already excluded by their community for alot of content in wvsw. This is the indiviual communities decisions obviously, but these communities and decisions thrive because of the system you ALREADY have implemented. It’s hypocritical to just revoke certain features and their benefits thinking it will ruin the amazing exclusion free system u already don’t have.

If you want to explain homosexuality and past norms of the military to the internet I always use the 300 benchmark.
The historically accurate direction of the film 300 would have had:
-Gay men fighting a straight persian guy
-the beautiful ‘queen’ would have been a woman dressed up like a man…..the sex scene would have been in the dark so he couldn’t tell the difference.
-And they would be fighting to protect their country which was a dictatorship (2 kings actually) rather than ‘freedom’ or ‘democracy’.

Looking for help with tuning WvsW build again

in Warrior

Posted by: Cerby.1069

Cerby.1069

So that’s what I’m running (still crafting the ascended marauder sword tho):

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vJEQNAR8ejMdQXIWFCuhAnIG6BKtNC/wArheIHsA4DiAA-T1CEABso+DAPAgY2fgJlDJcBAaSJREHEAwPCAurboLlgPpE7bwBwe7le1LwA2oheHuXhAKvFA-w

Not that my warrior ever tanks in the true sense, but he has a good amount of survivability presently. I’m trying to dump as much of my remaining upgrades into power. I could probably stand to lose some of my defensive stat trinkets for zerkers.

A few things:
-I don’t want axe/shield
-I don’t want berserker traitline
-I don’t understand why anyone would suggest healing power given how you need a TON (300+) to start getting any noticeable sustain going. Better to only put healing power in builds designed for sustained duels.
-Purposes of the build: Solo roaming (capping any and everything, scouting, running supply, outrunning enemies/killing them), Commanding (public groups), Zerg fights (jump in and out using berserkers stance, shield, defy pains)
-I really like the Marauder ascended weapons. The skins are nice (not important obv but whatever). It gives alot more stats (in total) than berserkers does. Gives me some more precision (i ideally like having 56% -60% base crit rate, currently its 50 tho). It does take away from power and ferocity though. That’s why I’m trying to fit more power into my build to close the gap between the berserker’s power stats and my marauder ones. Ferocity? Noone really cares about it anyways, missing 100 makes very little difference from my limited testing, so whatever I’ll live without it.

The weapon sigils:
Gs
-I want an ‘on-kill’ sigil here (bloodlust seems to be the best, perception is possibility tho)
-Superior sigil of strength? I’m not sure how viable this is tbh. I’m curious whether a sigil of force is better? Basically I want the sigil that gives my GS the most dps damage. For clearing pve stuff mainly.

Sword/shield
-The leeching I think is not bad overall. I had hydromancy and an extra condition clear beforehand, the lack of the chill slow/dmg is noticeable but other than that I’m managing.
-Michief? I’m still not sure about this sigil. It only fires at the enemy infront of you (only seems to hit 1 player as well and the snowballs don’t seem to stack on that player), so it doesn’t always land and its only useful when u are engaging the enemy. I don’t know what its doing in a fight tbh, seems to make it so I don’t take damage right after I change for whatever reason (i have no idea if its the blind making them miss or the shock making the enemy rethink what to do). Could be replaced pretty easily.

Pretty much all the sigils could be replaced. Would want some kind of extra condition for enemies, and extra damage for my Gs (it’s surprisingly pretty wimpy when you don’t go full zerker even with frenzy on). I’m very much aware that alot of the current sigils I use are worth mere silvers on the Tp….which is always a sign they might be bad ideas.

outnumbered "buff"

in WvW

Posted by: Cerby.1069

Cerby.1069

Over the years I have advocated for a “Crowded” debuf that causes 15+ players in close proximity to run a bit slower, have slighly reduced range, suffer a small DPS penalty, etc. This debuf would scale so 50+ players would have a larger debuf than 15+ players versus 10 players or less seeing no debuf at all. This would even the scales a tad against out numbered groups and bring a bit more strategy to large scale fights.

Or we just let the outnumbered buff give a stacking +10% movement speed bonus. So if they have swiftness on they get 43% speed buff. Whatever their current speed is it gets upped by 10 basically, so everyone benefits. Bringing their max speed as high as 160%.

I mean the old commander aura’s kept larger groups very blobby and by effect: slow, and docile to lesser threats. I don’t really wanna go back to that though. I’d rather see them retain independence among their ranks. IF we go the opposite and punish the stats of the blob it might cause them to break ranks a bit more and allow the kind of stuff u talked about where the breaked ranks present more even numbered fights for organized outnumbered groups. I don’t see them doing it though. Cause it takes away from the individual player, and they have always been against that kind of stuff. So I think the +10 for the outnumbered would be easier for them to put in. I could live with either though.

PPK is a good thing as long as they increase points given for all other objectives. Basically double the point values of everything else we currently have and PPK should be fit in fine. IN terms of preventing people from abusing it…..that’s another story, one where the game mechanics make it so Anet can’t/won’t be able to do anything to prevent abuse. The only counter is to increase points from fortifications and everything else to the point where PPK isn’t that huge. If it’s 1 point per kill in the current meta then taking fortifications really serves no purpose. How the kitten did Anet think this was a good idea. 3 minute airstrike that hits for 15k undodgeable attacks on a 20 minute timer. You pair this with Iron guards and the lord takes 20 minutes ALONE.

I like the buffs to the pve aspect of stonemist (airstrike is dumb obviously tho). The point differential isn’t that high anymore on sm and it’s the largest fortification in wvsw. I like that it’s more daunting and difficult to take from organized borderlands.

War Update - Easiest Mode Confirmed?

Cerby.1069

Haha ya I was thinking the same thing when I read it: “Why not just give us the use of 3 weapon sets?”.

Fast hands and swapping weapon sets is what makes me feel like a warrior tbh. Using things in succession for a little bit of payoff on each then taking up a different weapon and repeating feels very vicious and desperate…..the kind of thing I like in my warrior. Fighting tooth and nail with multiple weapons and moves feels right. Hitting 1 attack and getting massive damage feels wrong. Currently it’s a case where most of our attacks can be avoided easily and they don’t do much for damage unless we go full zerker. Why not fix warrior by giving us the use of alot more of these types of attacks? There’s a show called “Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers” where the protagonist claims he is the strongest man in the world. Compared to the other heroes though he is terribly weak and doesnt have any special powers or natural genius. He uses all manner of cheap tricks to fight his enemies. It means using a ton of physical weapons to counter his opponents and dodge their attacks by the skin of his teeth each time. I like when warrior plays like that. Warriors should have a good grasp of all the types of physical weapons available in the game. And their primary strength should be found through this very broad specialization. You don’t need strong attacks or high sustain, you just need alot of versatility. We are supposed to be masters of physical weaponry (no magics) are we not?

Some gameplay questions about WvsW.

in WvW

Posted by: Cerby.1069

Cerby.1069

So I had a bunch of questions piling up and was hoping people could provide detailed answers.

1. Lords seem to scale in vitality based on the number of people present. I want to know as much information as possible on how this works. Does scaling occur based on the number of enemies in the fortification, or the number of enemies within a set distance from the lord, or the number of people attacking the lord, or some other measure? When does scaling occur? how does it occur? Stuff like that, all related to this mechanic. Does lord damage increase as well? etc.

2. Related to the last question: Do lords become stronger based on the fortification level of the fortification? Are lords considered to be ‘guards’ and are they upgraded the same as them as per the upgrade descriptions? So basic vs reinforced vs fortified etc. How much does a lord differ on each level, etc.

3. How to determine whether a wall with an hp bar is destroyable or not? Okay contrary to any popular beliefs, my experience is that walls turning indestructible after hitting 0 hp is relatively random. The exception being a handful of specific walls will generally always become indestructible. Examples: Mendons side wall, if its anywhere from 1 -40% in health and it is reinforced of fortified it is likely to be indestructible upon reaching 0%. Same goes for anz and veloka (tiny side wall). Sm walls that come up as 1% or whatever ‘usually’ are all destructible with 1-2 potential exceptions in certain ‘side’ areas. I mean I had both the walls at the side of reinforced klovan at 40% hp become indestructible one time and 2 walls back to back at sm that both went from 40%-0 and were indestructible…it was just weird since i’ve never had that happen with walls that high in hp and especially 2 of them and especially klovan of all places.

4. Related to the third question: Does healing 1% hp walls (glitched walls) make them destructible? My experience is that I’ve seen glitched walls up to about 50% hp. Everything higher has been destructible upon bringing it down to 0. So it begs the question of whether healing past 50% makes otherwise indestructible walls destructible.

5. Okay this is a funner question: On keeps in eternal battlegrounds, what is the best way to destroy the second pot of oil at double gates? Let’s assume you are attacking the double gates with 2 rams that hit both sets of gates at the same time. Bringing down the cannons, mortar (if need be), and first oil pot is pretty straightforward for any group. The second oil pot though let’s assume the group doesn’t have enough aoe users to bring it down or prevent people from using it. Assume alternatively that they have the guild upgrade that reduces nonsiege damage by 75%. So how do you deal with the oil pot? I was wondering if an arrow cart would be effective or not, ballista don’t seem able to reach, (use catapult? lol). The other alternative is to set rams to bring down the 1st gate, such that the 2nd oil can’t hit them, kill the exposed oil once the first gate is down, then make a second set of rams for the 2nd gate. What’s the best method? Basically Green and Blue keep are the two at issue here (red you would obviously bring it down gate by gate). My understanding is that there is no place to set a ram such that it hits both gates and can’t be hit by the 2nd oil. Siege disablers? etc

What if Warrior HP was ..............

in Warrior

Posted by: Cerby.1069

Cerby.1069

What do you suggest then ?

I already said it: If sustain is the problem then the ability to mitigate and heal damage should be the solution.

Also, Hp is not sustain in terms of gw2. Sustain is the ability to have a character play, in the middle of a battle, at the same state it was before it entered battle. So in the middle of a fight, having full hp and everything off cd, would be some very good sustain. i.e. Warrior currently has very long cd abilities, and very bad healing. It has bad sustain, and that would be the thing to look at not HP.

Being able to last a long time in a fight without doing anything is reflective of durability. Hp = durability. It’s like fighting a keep lord in wvsw. They have a big health bar and dismissable healing abilities. It’s a case of wearing it down bit by bit. What would you call it if a keep lord has alot less hp but the healing and damage mitigation abilities of a guardian? Sustain. Sustain can be thought of regeneration, it doesn’t equate entirely to survivability (you can be bursted down if toughness and hp are low enough afterall) but it is a primary component along with durability. You would play differently vs a keep lord with just durability vs a keep lord with just sustain. The sustain one you would want to use high burst moves to mow quickly down before it can heal the damage done. The durability lord you would focus on dealing the most damage over a longer period of time. Put this in a pvp setting now….it’s a case of using burst moves upfront vs a more liberal approach of wearing the enemy down bit by bit. given how burst moves have a long cooldown…failing to kill someone with high sustain with these abilities often puts you at a huge disadvantage, while the enemy remains 100% refreshed.

List of things ingame NOT worth buying

  • Siege blueprints for laurels is definitely atrocious. It’s a relic of its times; same goes for those laurel gathering tools.
  • I don’t see how crafting materials are a bad buy, if you get t6s, relative to other choices if you have gear from laurels already. Rings can be gotten from fractals, earrings can be gotten from commendations. The only thing you need are amulets, and how many of those do you really need?
  • I think your complaint about superior siege from notaries doesn’t make much sense though. Gifts of Battle only have value if you’re going for a legendary. Forging siege is a terrible way to get value out of spirit shards, because you can only make one at a time, so it’s neither time efficient or cost efficient unless the mystic forger is up.

This doesn’t make any sense. You are saying spending laurels on siege is bad but spending badges on siege is good. It should be one or the other. Badges aren’t easily replenished anymore and it costs ~150 for many weapons/armour/upgrades. Unless you are into endgame, you don’t want to be spending them on anything else. And spending 1 laurel on 3 T_ materials is always a good buy for everyone? That really makes no sense. Everyone should save them for buying ascended gear and upgrades. Once you have all you want for gear, then who cares spend laurels on whatever.

Laurels are easy to get. You can get upwards to 55 every 28 days. If you have no need to buy ascended stuff, you’re better off converting them to gold. The best way is to convert them to T6 bags and then sell the T6 mats.

Badges have very little use. You can use them to buy armor and weapons but any upgrades put in them are forever bound. Unless something was added with HoT, your best use for badge of honor is to convert them to siege and sell.

If you spend that much time on the game, already have all the maxed gear you could ever want, don’t care for any cosmetic items like pets or tonics or event specific stuff… then yes you are in endgame and are better off converting everything you have into gold for the purposes of gems, skins, guild stuff. Max 55 per 28 days of daily play sessions correct, but that’s assuming you get the 20 laurels at the end….if you don’t need the laurels its better to just get the other stuff and sell directly for your gold. So I would argue its really up to 35 laurels per 28 days for endgame users. So ya, feel free to spend your 35 laurels for 35×3 mats and sell them for 35gold each month. 95% guideline though.

Gw2 unlike most games has a habit of selling you things in multiple ways, but where some of these ways are complete ripoffs (let’s say 95% of the time at present) for the player. Not all of these pitfalls are readily apparent, so I thought it worthwhile to make a list of all of them.

Thread is meant to be helpful to players to shed light on things you should avoid spending materials on. Please feel free to contribute your own items to the list, as I will by no means be making a completed list. If you want to add things from the gem store feel free, but keep it objective and focusing on heavy offenders (i.e. cosmetics must have major flaws to be listed here). If you disagree with anything, state ‘why’. I’ll update as I go along.

Laurel Merchant:
-Buying Siege blueprints with laurels
-Buying tier _ crafting bags (1 laurel for 50s-1 gold worth of materials)
-Advanced harvesting tools
Explanations:
Unless you have infinite Laurels: better to buy siege blueprints with money. Advanced harvesting tools don’t give much of a buff so same thing. Tier _ crafting bags, same thing..it’s trading 1 laurel for 50s-1gold. By the 95% guidelines, most players won’t have infinite laurels and are better spending them on gear that can only be bought via laurels.

Heroics Notary:
-Buying superior siege equipment with heroics and badges of honour
Explanation: You should save your badges of honour for laurel merchant and other things like gifts of battles. Heroics are useless presently and should be thrown out if not for the idea that “one day” they might become useful. If you have a steady stream of over 2k bades, sure you might as well spend some but you will have 0 and infinte heroics if you keep buying from this notary. Using mystic force to upgrade basic to superior is also ‘generally’ cheaper…someone said that even in terms of spending badges it’s less expensive to do this (dont’ care to check).

Siege Merchant:
-Buying Basic siege equipment with silver or badges of honour
Explanation:
Trading post is cheaper. Don’t waste badges of honour on these for same reason as above.

Fractals:
-Fine “Mighty/Malign/whatever” Infusions (i.e. +5 power +5 agony)
Explanation:
If you are serious about fractals get a separate set of armour meant for them with +7 agony’s. Use WvsW infusions on your other set of armour. You will save money and get more stats per money spent.

WvsW build suggestions

in Warrior

Cerby.1069

I’m upgrading the S/Sh from their exotic toughness/vitality stats to ascended marauder stats. This will boost the precision on the set to ensure more attacks (final thrusts) crit (wasn’t the reason for going marauder tho lol). It also keeps the vitality/survivability between gearsets similar (marauder on the gs as well) since everything is on the trinkets for toughness/vitality basically. So about 55% on each set in terms of crit rate. I’m thinking then a consumable buff that grants a bit of precision would be enough to keep me happy. So then I can use bloodlust on the Gs instead.

I don’t think I’ll be able to hit most enemies hard enough though. Would have to fallback on a food item to up my raw power at that point. Just bugs me that with signet of rage and frenzy activated, classes with light-medium armour can take next to no damage from a full one hundred blades attack that actually hits. I mean I got an over 40k hundred blades with the marauder Gs today while in a 10 man group in wvsw. I can’t ever remember hitting a lord that hard before. Hitting players (without the group buffs obv) though I’m lucky to take 10k of their Hp if it lands. Really frustrating if the enemy is a high damage mesmer or whatever using light armour. It’s not a warrior, it does more damage than me and it tanks more than me….that’s gg I won’t win. Your sustain is by default almost always better, your attacks are generally aoe and easy to land…I’m screwed when they hit harder (they always do) AND tank raw damage that gets through the aegis and everything else.

Bloodlust would be better, given how high your crit chance is already. Air too, I think. That said, I’d personally put energy on one of your sets.

I also use intelligence on my sword to ensure those really high, post-might stacking gs, cleaving Final Thrusts….

Thought about using intelligence. Most enemies read the final thrust very easily, porting away or just dodging on instinct, when I switch weapon sets. Pretty sure they expect an eviscerate. I think upping precision a bit is better for my purposes, then I can use final thrust whenever and having a better chance of landing the crit.

I don’t think this is the right way to go either. If you feel more hp makes the class more viable, then you should use some marauder gear. If you feel not having full zerker makes you vulnerable then the problem is sustain. If sustain is the problem then the ability to mitigate and heal damage should be the solution.

Anyone else noticed lately that double tapping ‘3’ doesn’t set it off unless your mouse cursor is aimed at the ground?

Used to be able to have it go off instantly in whatever direction i was moving regardless of cursor placement. Used to be able to have it go off instantly in whatever direction my mouse cursor was aimed at.

If my view is ground level and if my cursor is in the upper 50% of my screen, it won’t trigger the ability. That’s 50% of my screen space…
I gotta be looking down at the ground all the time if I want it to trigger regardless of cursor position. if I’m looking up I’m screwed.

Am I supposed to click ‘3’ and then ‘left click’ to use this ability now? Double tapping is a thing of the past?

Sword burst (the immobilize) is also randomly freezing my character inplace until the action is completed. I have to use a dodge to break it alot of the time…if i dont have one I’m screwed. Gs 2 is also not going off ‘on-time’ if I managed to switch from sword burst to it and want to use hundred blades. If I somehow manage to immobilize the enemy……and it allows me to cancel the burst and switch to greatsword I pound on the ‘2’ key and it registers the click but nothing happens for up to 0.5-2 seconds….at which time I’ve lost the combo.

this forum ate my reply…

you CAN immob downed

mist form is a stun break

warriors get a worse knockback because they get a SELF RES

immob has always NOT stopped teles. Teles are a counter to immobs.

There are skills (your own tele) that let you stomp a downed if they tele

Everything is supposed to have counter play

mesmer tele is random

Downed state is surprisingly balanced once you’ve played all classes for awhile.

-You CAN apply Immobilize to a downed player. It WON’T do anything to them though.

-Then they shouldn’t get mist form as an ability in downed state with little to no cd.

-Gl finding a warrior that can survive in downed state long enough to activate the self rez that has a 75% chance of instant killing them afterwards.

-Teleports don’t matter as long as they aren’t given instantly after u are downed.

-The skills that let u stomp teleporters are class specific. certain classes don’t have access to them which was the point of the thread.

-How to counterplay mesmer that instantly moves inside tower after getting downed 3 times in a row…..hmmmmmmm

Stuns also don’t prevent downed players from using their abilities. Aka they don’t stun. Add that to the pile.

i don’t want all 4 sigils to be on weapon swap. And I feel there needs to be something on the greatsword that helps with damage. So that leaves a blank slot which I filled with sigil of perception (on kill precision bonus). I like having an on kill bonus as one of my sigils since it applies to both weapon sets. It fits with my build’s mobility, and roaming nature. I’ve never tried the sigil of michief before….so it also might be replaceable depending on how it works. Potentially sigil of perception could be moved to the sword/sh since gs will still be primary damage I’m sure…finishing pve enemies with sword would be difficult though.

I think I need more precision in the build though, that’s why I chose perception instead of bloodlust. I was running 5% less precision in this build (so 45%) and I was doing under like 700-900 damage alot of the time with basic greatsword swings (miserable damage) to players, they wouldnt crit. I really do think it is needed. Every 6 stacks adds 3% crit chance or something like that…so 6×4....just over +12% crit hit increase. So 63% base crit chance total let’s say. Which is high but whatever, it’s not too high and it serves me well I believe.

I guess I should get my mesmer out and test it proper. Yesterday a mesmer did it 3 times in a row by a tower. They weren’t even right next to the port entrance. If I have to ‘completely’ randomize the movement patterns it should be neigh impossible. If it really is random, I find it weird that every mesmer that I face has been able to use it to move through the nearby tower entrance.

And nah, I haven’t done anything as awesome since our two-man overlook takedown
