GS 3 clipping through enemies

IN wvsw especially theres a continuous problem where whirlwind will fire off through an enemy and do no damage to that enemy.

This is most notable vs guards…..since they are enemies that can’t negate the attack unless they blind you or block it (both of which r very visible and eez to see) and they are primarily stationary so there is no way that they are not where they seem to be oncreen.

That said, its a major problem against players as well. Especially downed players….goes right through even after their invulnerability has long disappeared. Especially when dealin with very small incline slopes of variable height terrain. If ur dealing with actual hills/slopes then you can adjust ur strategy….but there are small slopes all over wvsw so u can’t do much.

It happens most often when there is any kind of latency going on with my toon. YOu can notice this latency by the delay in the gs3 going off…..if it takes a second longer the attack is many times more unlikely to go through the enemy without hitting. This isn’t the case with any o ther attacks in the game, save gs2 and the final hit on the combo not going off (notably against l ords) (or it goes off only if you don’t move ur character long after the combo is finished….rly stupid delay that ruins the attack most of the time).

NO problems like this with other attacks anywhere near the extent of gs3. Infact I dont think im lagging at all…..then ill use a gs3 and theres a huge delay….leading me to think that gs3 is either extremely finicky to latency/skill lagg or its just plain glitched.

dunno why eotm even existed in teh first place tbh. Shoulda just been a wvsw map…..or wvsw itself it shoulda been lol. Could settle for eotm, ebg, and 3 smaller home bl maps or just rid of the concept of home bl entirely….we alrdy have home corners afterall in ebg. Honestly I legit surprised by just how smart and powerful the ai is on eotm. Makes me feel like a complete baby when I drop into wvsw and cleave through the npc.

But eotm DOES exist. And it HAS existed. So in all fairness I feel pips should be included in teh mode itself as well as wvsw. I don’t understand why they take players from eotm and put them in wvsw…..and why they take players from wvsw and put them in eotm…its just a stupid back and forth that makes no sense. Get ur priorities right plz. Giving eotm pips would give pver’s an easy way to farm them without screwing up wvsw with players who don’t want to play wvsw.

Condi spam meta not over yet?

Condi just has too many gimmicks atm. Conditions on me remain on me when I get downed and enter downed state half the time…..and they arent aoe. Its so easy to place condi on downs and watch their hp get shredded while u can devote all ur time into defense or attacking the next guy. Plus it prevents the enemy from healing themselves automatically….just from 1 attack. With power they can start healing themselves anytime u arent directly casting attacks.

Power builds u pretty much have to stomp or leave the downed guy…..god forbid you run a melee build lol (although pretty much all melee builds have ranged attacks now). Just that lack of options and difficulty finishing makes power a really weak option atm.

I saw a necro cast a well at the top of the stairs and saw 4 guys in my squad get their faces melted off……An aoe that can do THAT much to 4 guys in a single cast……and even when they r downed they continue to melt and I can’t heal them or I get caught in it and the boon strips. So much versatility in condi builds, thats why they so strong imo. MOst of the condi classes that are used also have boon strips…….so resistance can only bring u so far in a fight….and forget condi clearing with classes that deal 5 condis per attack lol, condi clear only useful in group situations and even then you’ll want resistance insteaad.

I don’t think its inherently wrong to give more rewards to the longer playing players. I also think its good that they gave rank some form of meaning other than a stupid pointless number.

That said, I don’t support the pip system as is. The caps on tickets. The 16 week grind. The limiting returns. I don’t think the grind is fair for new players. I don’t think its fair for old players.

Build is pretty standard vanilla warrior. No idea why you hating on last stand. I never liked rampage so i’d always just use signet of rage since i’d run solo anyways.

In regard to the assassins trinkets…I also found that having a crit rate between 50-60 base was the ideal if ur not using intelligence sigils. I’d take a bloodlust on kill sigil instead…having 250 power and investing a little bit of my base power into precision still meant ‘if’ I crited my bursts they would crit harder than a meta build with intelligence would.

I’d generally use at least 1 assasins trinket with my vanilla. With my current berserker build I run full zerk no doubt though. Its really just a learn to play thing…..if you look at meta builds you can understand the justification that assassin is stupid, but ingame you will want assassins more than naught to make sure ur bursts hit hard. Fighting HOT classes the key was always to bide ur time until you got in a lucky hit….and hope that lucky hit would end the fight immediately due to overwhelming damage, u need to crit to do this or they just retreat/heal and it repeats.

Small group of people behind closed doors proclaiming themselves more important than those outside it? That’s nothing new.

It should be alarming to those not familiar with the phenomenon, but otherwise its just another facet of humanity.

They obviously just don’t know or bother to figure out the contributions of anyone outside of their teamspeak. Which is pretty sad tbh given how small teamspeaks are compared to the server size at any given moment.

All you can really say is….it goes both ways! You’ll have plenty more people thinking ill things of them than they can’t think of other people. Humans can really suck when it comes to group dynamics more often than naught.

INcompetents are supported unconditionally by the group mentality. A newcomer who knows everything and can do things better doesn’t get to automatically become leader….

But if you really think about it….they should get to be leader.

This is what they decided on. This is what they shipped. They have a history of not changing what they ship unless it causes something explicitly undesirable such as excessive clipping, unwanted colours (like when predator got changed), or just plain breaks the game in a physical way such as due to glitches.

So you expect that by having a unwritten rule of only 1-3 tags per map you will have people doing the things YOU want to do on a map and it will create less chaos?

This is by far the most selfish, self-serving posting i’ve read all week. You see something different and you want it to go away, believe that the new thing is the source of all your recent strife.

20 tags would be great. If I had a Ts setup with everyone in it, I’d want independent groups for all the side jobs and I’d want independent groups for the blob fights. Literally 1 subleader speaker per 5 people would be great. This is a learn to play and communicate issue on ur part. Having everyone in 1 squad is irrelevant when it comes to creating coordination.

How long will it take to craft Warbringer?

Incorrect.
-Ad Infinitum = 4 weeks(4 fractal pages per day). ~1h per day for 100cm + 3 rec.
-The Ascension = 2-3 seasons. ~30-45 min per day.
-Legendary Armor = 12 weeks. 3-4h per WEEK.
-Warbringer = 16 weeks, 2-3-6h per day.
Grinding required for Warbringer is truly absurd.

Well the thing is, those other modes get regular updates.

You can tell from the absurd timeframes on the ‘wvsw items’ that this update is meant to last us a longggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

period of time before the next update. 4x as long probably. So by that logic….it makes sense.

i think people just need something to be angry at. when winning was the meta (aka before tuesday), people always blamed numbers saying anyone who was beating them was just winning through size and that they were powerless.

That’s considered the best case scenario (an impossible scenario consistently..but lets asssume its true and that their math is true idk if it is lol).

7 hours+10mins over 16 weeks is ….114 HOURSSSSSS and 40 MINUTTTES
Just for the tickets for ur legendary…..lulz. A single component.

I mean lets compare that to the gifts of exploration for hot legendaries…..its kinda asking alot given its a backpack not a weapon and has limited features to it by comparison.

And taht’s JUST for the backpack…….if you want the armour or anything else…..gl.

Lets look at a generic

so lets just as a rough way triple our earlier estimate, we’ll assume they somehow are doing at least 5 and sometimes alittle more than 5 mbe,
Which gets us to 342 HOURRRRS of gameplay just for tickets.

Personally I only play wvsw really, and I spend alllllot of time on it. And yet I will NOT be planning on getting the legendary backpiece…cause that is just an unfathomable commitment for such an item. Pver’s beware, do the math before you just waltz in and say “i’m gonna play for these cool new items for a bit”. Cause its gonna be alot longer than a bit…and that’s alot of time per week u have to commit to the mode….and thats alot of weeks you have to keep up this committment for…..and that backpack is a very small reward for doing so.

The only reason I dont spend my tickets on tactics right now is only on the offchance they lower the cost for the legendary or add other items of value. If I knew for certain nothing was going ot change…..id just spend them, cause theres nooooo way i intend to commit that much time/effort for such a crummy item. I honestly think its ridiculous anyone ‘would’ commit that much for this backpack……its not that impressive that all looking imo, and doesnt rly go with much of anything.

HOnestly though I’d just work towards it since I’m a committed wvsw player and…might as well. “if I can’t get it…..how could anyone else get it?” – was kinda the logic behind that decision. But after looking at the real cost they gave for it….its just no, thats not happening lol.

Well if by some craziness u could only get 1 pip and spent 120 hours a week…
they’d have 6.857 hours of sleep per day. And then they’d have to spend every single second logged in playing for the entire week……for 4 straight weeks.

For the vast majority of players its gonna be a full-time job for 4 months straight….for a rather generic looking backpiece they prolly created in 2 weeks.

This is actually rather comedic move on anet’s part. I find it quite funny anyways.
Its made even funnier how happy the community seems to be by this decision! Whatever….wvw players aren’t breaking any iq records.
IN hindsight though, I should be happy just from the fact they are giving away tactics for free in limited numbers through skirmish boxes. But I’m also rather unhappy by the state of chaos the meta is in atm.

This doesn’t even have enough information for most noobs…i’d show them the wiki page instead as it has much more information and actual numbers. If I needed to ease some1 into the mode who just wanted to fool around, I’d show them this to give them some general ideas on how to go about playing.

So… Goodjob creating a casual’s guide that offers some insight as they start the mode. If you want more insight consult the wiki or a real guide. Waste of time for everyone else though, including me who read this thinking it would explain a real wxp farm route…..nope.

Zerker warriors with huge regens in wvw

Ya it is stupid. Nobody can deny how stupid Op our healing is for the meta builds.

Tl:DR:
-Never stun a warrior.
-Always kite a warrior from the greatest distance possible…preferably with a ranged weapon.
-Bring an unblockable
-Remember that warriors are generally either condi resistant or power resistant, they aren’t both. They will choose a build that is weak to one or the either. That said, they are still very powerful due to their invulnerabilities that they may be carrying.
-Always kite/retreat after you proc their 1-2 endure pains….until you get good at this its important to kite to the extent that they can get away if they so chose.
-And like choppy said don’t get hit by a F1/F2…..basically once berserker mode goes up you need to really pay attention to what weapon attacks they are using cause thats when their healing is the most insane.
-blinds and dazes are also great things to have onhand since they force the warrior to do a weaponswap/rotation change that leads to more predictable movesets. Once you control what the warrior does….you got them trapped.

This is ridiculous. I can’t believe so many of you are supporting the timegate. You do realize how long you will have to play for to get the skin right? Some people, believe it or not, find it absolutely ridiculous and stupid to have their game oneday decide for them they need to start spending a little bit of time over the course of 2 years to get the skins they had been promised two years prior!

This system as is, It makes the playtime of veteren wvswplayers shorter to accomplish the “weekly”. And it makes the playtime of a new wvsw player to accomplish the “weekly” an impossibly longer grind. It should be the opposite since veteren players already know the maps, have their gear maxed, are oriented with their teammates/server, and have all their wvsw points spent to make roaming a breeze.

It doesnt make sense! Wvsw players who play the most…..require the LEAST playtime? And are punished for overplaying that limit?

Its like they are trying to force their players at risk of burnout on the bench as much as possible. The reward for their honest loyal following and support of the game is less gameplay and a skin in 2 years time? WHAT?!!?! That is stupid!

This is not a player friendly addition to the gamemode AT ALL.

THEY SHOULDA made it so existing players of high enough rank(or some other measurement form) are just farther ahead of new players in the grind towards the skins.

The current system favours the dev team not the player. Gives them an excuse to not have to do anything for 2 more years. You are played and you like it?

As one of those people with a job, I whole heartedly agree with you. I think the pip requirements for max tickets are too high, frankly.

Having a job makes your opinion more leet? Cool. I have multiple jobs, So i guess that makes mine many times more important. I’ll be sure to mention it in all my posts for now on.

Our stance hasn’t changed on this. My response that Xenesisll linked is still the same.

Then you’re just as out of touch with your players as everyone thinks you are. On that note, my guild is down to running WvW once a week or even less because of the lack of your team caring about how the players want to play the game. Every higher skilled GVG guild has quit the game because of it and almost all that is left is what you wanted there to be, just pug zergs. But by all means, it’s your game, keep on displeasing your players and driving them away since you clearly know what the players want more than they do.

Fighting a condi dd/sb daredevil in wvw

Warriors cant touch thieves without a ranged weapon. You won’t be able to kill/pursue them unless they let you.

Even if you run rifle though you’ll have some issues since majority of thiefs are no longer running staff….so you have a very limited number of times you can damage a thief during its rotation. Rifle increases the window against a dd/sb, but they still have the advantage.

Best secondary set of weapons ? (pve)

sword torch is best cleave imo for secondary weapon sets.

A really fun alternative is mace/sword. Use that with shield mastery and a bow or sword/shield. Mace 2 and sword 5 block multiple projectiles for a long duration of time. Makes for really good survivability on a condi build where your ticks are doing the damage (trailblazer or viper).
Its just plain fun to have shield 5, sword 5, mace 2 in one build. 3 blocks that reflect…..what more can you want when paired with a warrior’s insane base healing.

In terms of power users? all ur options suck…..use 2 handed weapons.

or use simle metabattle,s/torch and actualy deal dmg and heal from it,instead of permablocking? maybe?

Or maybe you should just learn how to counter blocks so you don’t get killed in pvp so much. We are here to help the OP, not you, you can make ur own post if you desire.

…..don’t craft hot stats. That’s a huge mistake.

Use an existing ascended set, and change the prefix of it in the mystik forge to what you want. YOu will save a ton of gold.

Chaining whirlwind (gs3) with dodges?

Anyone else remember like a year ago being able to basically instantly use gs3 as an instant dodge? ANd being able to chain if with ur dodges for a 3 combo invulnerability?

Well I do. And I remember that NOW I can’t do that, and i don’t understand why. One reason is latency and lagg in wvsw. But even outside wvsw i can’t do it anymore. THere is up to a 1 second delay on the usage of whirlwind. And when it gets activated and functions it has its own builtin delay that you are vulnerable to atack during.

I don’t like this, I think it should be fixed. I don’t remember reading any patch notes saying it had beeen changed from teh old one where it went off intantly and you can chain it with dodges for 3 dodges in a row.

Power mesmer VS thief

mesmer rotation does NOT run out. YOu have at most 2-3, 1-2 seconds windows in which to damage/kill them in every 20 seconds of fighting assuming you can’t strip their stealth. All of their attacks are pretty much aoe as well, worst case scenario the mesmer just uses portal or stealth or blink or any combination of tha to get awway when they get low hp.

Tired of people justifying how OP they are by saying that “WELL THEY HAVE TO PRESSSS ALL THEIR BUTTON TO DO IT, SO ITS NOT OP!!”

Packed yaks vs Speedy yaks - Showdown

If yaks are 10x as fast as normal does that increase their survivability then? It doesn’t. It just means some1 can wait for a couple seconds for the yak to leave any problem zones and ‘come to them’, at which point they cc it and kill eez. From that perspective they are even easier to intercept and kill. Same is said for when it is escorted, you simply kill the escort and as you go towards the camp the yak respawns infront of you for an easy cleave. Or you simply wait for the yak to come back, which will be before the escort gets back itself. Whereas before the escorter had to simply get the yak a “certain” distance away, which would delay the attacker from getting to it and allow the attacker to be taken out before it caught up to the yak again.
Anyone reading this should realize the fallacy in all these statements I made, for its the same fallacy you have made.

“The faster a yak, the more problems it has.” – Is also an incorrect statement. Yak speed is not an asset nor a liability when it has nothing to do with upgrade speed….you are grasping at thin air to make an argument.

And I’ve never seen a non-escorted packed dolyak escape the wrath of auto attacking lol. How is non-escorted speedy yaks dying even a point of debate?

Cause they think I’m more illogical than they are, thus any argument they present is deemed correct in their eyes.

Its bumming even me out a this point.

How to build my first Condi warrior?

You can solo every pve thing in the open world with trailblazers and still do a kitten ton of damage.

Vipers gives a little more dps, but at the expense of a tonnnnnnnnn of tank/survivability. You won’t be amazed by the damage difference you gain by going vipers…..just cause the damage is already so high with trailblazers.
That said, you will likely get pretty bored/lazy using trailbalzers since it makes everything a meaningless grind lol. But….you won’t die in the story or anywhere you might otherwise have a problem.
YOu will need vipers for many of the raid instances though. Although technically you could use trailbalzers if you do the tanks jobs for the instances. Just stuff to think about.

Cleave weapons are: bow, sword/torch
pvp/wvsw weapons: Mace/sword, Mace/shield, Sword/shield,

Packed yaks vs Speedy yaks - Showdown

What I can say is that Superspeed is a 100% increase. Thus, it should be 2x speed increase rather than 1.5. You state that the maximum move speed for a Yak is 150% but I do not see this documented anywhere.

Well I clearly remember reading it was 50% on the wiki. But its saying 100% now. And I went ingame and the speed times for packed and speedy were pretty much the same.
58 seconds fora speed. 2 min 6 seconds for a normal yak. Applying some margin for error and balancing it out……we can say 60 seconds for speedy, 62 seconds for packed. Also worth mentioning was that the respawn time of a yak is up to 9 seconds (was hard to time but I think its 7-9 seconds. Given that speedy have to make more deliveries…..packed is gonna save quite a bit of time. 5 deliveries vs 10, means 5x less of those 9 second delays.

So when the yak doesn’t have to respawn….speedy has an advantage assuming noone is granting swiftness/superspeed at all to it. Otherwise packed is always going to have the advantage.
There’s no way the speedy yak’s escape speed is a greater asset than 2x supply on delivery. I’ve never seen some1 miss a speedy yak ingame that wanted to kill it, when it wasn’t escorted. And in terms of invading, the dots always kill the yak unless some1 is guarding the yak/area to begin with. Played on many bl and this has always been the case.

IN many scenarios like ebg we have a bl that own their corner but not smc. So half the yaks from the camps are not respawning and half are. But if its half in favour and half against…its still gonna come out to be in packed yaks favour as it was before in the general case where both yaks are equally important. In most cases the yak going to the keep is more important…so packed wins there. In more specific cases the outer tower is want you want upgraded…..in which case speedy would win assuming supply if of no consequence and noone is going to be escorting.

So yeah, there’s another scenario in speedy yaks favour there. So anyone fluent in both types of yaks can technically choose between the two based on the situation. Most situation will come out in packed’s favour, and a handful in speedy’s favour.

So to correct my mistake, and if we generalize a bit:
speedy 2.0x speed
Packed 2.0-3.0x speed +benefits

Claiming the speed of the yak versus distance travled makes no difference is simply wrong. A person intercepting a Yak has more time to arrive at the yaks position on the map and kill it. Further if escorted it much easier for the same to kill a bubbled fat yak then a bubbled speedy yak. Fat yaks do not have more hit points.

I have participated in escorting and or intercepting yaks many times and in particular those headed to destinations that are near upgrading that either our team sieges or an enemy sieges. It is MUCH easier to ensure a speedy yak gets through than a fat against an enemy actively trying to intercept. That difference in time along with the higher rate can make a significant difference in such instances. A wall breach that happens 10 seconds earlier because FATTY is only half ways there can mean all your outer siege in a keep lost and an enemy now able to port in with mesmers.

When making claims that one type of yak superior to another on ensuring an objective upgraded faster, you can not just ignore the factors that do not fit your case.

Its like me saying my disinfectant kills all the bacteria, and you citing that it doesn’t….that infact it has only been proven to kill 99.97% of all bacteria and I’m making stuff up. In other words, your argument is just banter.

Here I’ll give you an example: the faster the yak moves, the faster it moves towards the enemy coming to kill it, no? Giving friendlies less time to respond. A slower moving yak spends more time by the camps guards and other useful protective areas, a faster one does not. Is this false? Nope! But its meaningless once you think about it….cause you can argue the opposite should the scenario present itself. This is generally why we use ingame experience to fill in the gaps of what is considered reasonable, and what is considered plausible to happen.

Siege should be trenched in counterplay. It should be a rock paper scissors effect.

Should 1 oil/cannon counter 1 ram? Yes? Ok…..
Should 1 oil/cannon counter 2 rams? No? ok…..

That implies 1 oil/cannon is worth 2-3 players (amount of supply to create). Which implies a t1 smc applies a 4-6 player built-in counter on each inner gate supposing there are 2 defenders to do so.

outer walls/gates on SMC are just a very small delay at max, the main SMC defence hard point is on the 2nd floor, and any kind of siege like cannons is mostly useless.

Just same old same old.

Was in smc. A large zerg appeared on ss inner gate. I got on the cannon uptop since I was alrdy uptop. By the time I got on the cannon rams had been built but the gate was 100% still but it was t1 paper.

So basically I start firing when they start ramming. I open up with chill. Then I fire normal shots over and over, right on target. And switch to chill 1 more time inbetween when its off cd.

Basically they get in before the rams die. And to give you an idea…..I have to sit there firing 3 more SHOTS just to finish off the rams (firing at the same spot over and over the entire time)….meanwhile they are already on the lord and only the very last trickle can see me firing now.

Nobody bothered to attack me or my cannon when they got to the inner gate. I was left uncontested to fire the cannon…..and it was so stupidly ineffective that I have to wonder why I even bothered trying. Shouldn’t secured objectives offer some sort of security? And this is a castle to boot….why is t1 completely meaningless!!??! They didnt lay any shield gens or bubbles…..they didnt have to. Was just so stupidly lazy feeling.

The same goes for oil. I just don’t understand why cannons are made so ineffective against the one thing they are designed to destroy….RAMS. You’d think they would make a very easy way to modify daamge against siege without modifying damage against players. And oh, btw none of my cannoning downed a single enemy…..as is tradition. The hand holding is unreal in this mode….never ceases to amaze.

Dual sword viability?

Assuming you run condi:

sword sword doesn’t work against more than 1 enemy player, and even then its lackluster due to lack of synergy when fighting other meta builds. So right away you are limited to duels and pve.

Now looking at pve…..you need to realize it has very limited cleave power. So what would you run it for? individual bosses? like what…? raids? WElll immediately you shoudl realize that torch if gonna be the meta for any condi offhand for raids and not running the meta doesn’t go over well with people. So if you wanna run it for kicks and be really slow at killing pve…why would you even want a build that works? Just run anyhting! But obv u want something somewhat effective….so read on.

I agree with you that dual sword sounds aawesome….ive tried time and time again to make it work. It doesn’t work though….it just doesn’t.

In wvsw though, what I found WILL work is something like: bow, mace/sword.
The beauty of mace sword is that it offers you 2 blocks on one set…a useful f1….and an even more useful f2…along with a short pummel on 3 for quick daze. Mace is 1….honestly still preferable to sword 1 even though its slower, since it does more direct damage via power and has that weakness duration which is useful. Basically run that, and shield mastery with rousing resilience with trailblazer gear (or dire would probably be fine too)….slap on endure pain, berseker stance, the outrage, and headbutt… and you got a build that allows you to never die if ur good enough. My limit was taking on 4 fairly competent enemies all at once with that build….I could down 1 but could nver finish them and eventually I would make enough mistakes that I hit my limit and died. Very fun build though….very fun, and very effective. I did however switch back to a power build since…..honestly I don’t find the tick system fun or satisfying. And my fights lasted wayyyyy too long compared to 1 hitting thigns with gunflame.
Basically your mace/sword is a defensive breather set that you switch to while you have covering aoe from ur bow, and all ur condi ticks doing their damage. You do damage with bow….then u swap to doing blocks while that damage ticks away, and while the enemy is ontop of you and panicking you time ur heavy hitting attacks like the f1/f2 and sword 4 so they land at the right time and do good damage. Then you swap back to bow and immediately put pressure all oveer the map again….then swap back to be defensive again.

Its fun cause sword 5 functions the same as shield 5 does, but any melee attacks will break the block early and prompt a counterattack that does decent bleed damage.

I just ran…..geomancy and sigil of cleansing on the bow. Then sigil of purity on the other set I think…..with, I think I ran it with the onkillstack one….cruelty or something. Basically I swap my weapons with fasthands and I auto clear 2 conditions…..its pretty amazing. Focusing ur sigils on condi clear…..basically what i did.

I dont think i have a copy of hte build anymore…but whateveer i told u pretty much all of it alrdy.

It killed people too slow, since they all ran resistance it seemed. So I would have to play around with them till the resistance weared off…..and then I would win. It took too long, and I couldnt focus on the actual objectives of wvsw. Maybe the problem is I needed to run dire instead….for slightly harder ticks before tehe enemy put resistance up. That said though….having 4-6 second immobilizing on bow 5 and other abilities like it was hard to pass up at times. And if you do the math the condition damage difference isn’t that much bettween trailbalzer and dire…..and if you use food to see what the difference is really like….well it ain’t nothing to lose sleep over.
One of the problems was the need to take down, down, down in the berserker traitline. Doing so makes u very very tanky/survivable and makes the build work….but the output is pretty slow still and resistance hardstops u completely.

We already have what you want. Go in controls and see for yourself. The aura/indicators for them should be improved upon though.

But you have 3 targetting options:
ctrl t
ctrl y
and if ur a lieutenant/command you can use symbols 1-9 aoe, and symbols 1-9 targetting.

You having a personal targetting doesn’t fit anet’s wvsw philosophy about inclusivness. So deal with what you do have.

Distance traveled has no bearing on anything calculated….

INfact now that I think about it, distance travelled has a very small increased input on PACKED YAKS. If we say that yaks who disappear and respawn in the camp have a “delay” then its apparent that the more yaks doing that “delay” will lead to a an even SLOWER upgrade time.

What level of basic math did you complete? This is before even highschool here.

Not bad, but a couple of problems here.

Speedy Yaks can have their movespeed increased by swiftness. The buff on them has the same icon as the superspeed buff, but it is a different thing entirely. In addition, the speed increase is higher than 1.5×. Unfortunately, I’ve been slacking and thus don’t have my personal guild at a high enough lvl to craft Speedy Yaks so I don’t have hard numbers on it yet.

You’ll have to provide hard data to backup any of those claims. Even ingame I’ve never seen a difference in speed with swiftness applies to them. And for you to tell me the ‘yak-superspeed’ is higher than 50%……that will also require hard data to backup.

If an engie applies superspeed to a fastyak we get a similar speed on the yak. If an engie applies superspeed on a fast yak, it has no effect. Similarly if an engie applie superspeed ontop of superspeed is overrites the original superspeed.
Literally nothing ingame supports the things you are saying. You “can” stack swiftness on a fast yak but that doesn’t make it go faster.

I will go ingame and test on fast yaks incase there has been a ‘recent change’ or something has been overlooked. Although this is a very unexpected response, and possible a troll response, I commend you for not being like the others.

I frankly don’t believe the numbers presented anyway. Packed yaks simply are slow and not worth waiting for unless you want to babysit them and speed them up yourself.

This is a great summary of the player-base’s level of intelligence. I made an entire posting proving to everyone superior siege is better bought that made after they called me a liar. What did they do? They believed me, and called me an idiot for saving them money.

The news post was so idiotic. You made it sound like it was live already, its not. And you don’t include the date it becomes live in the post. We have to view a much older post to see the “supposed” live date….prompting no ‘changes’.

This ‘content’ changes nothing. YOu pretty much said: well people are starting to realize eotm is better and playing there instead…..lets fix that in the cruelest way possible, the usual. And you pretty much told people to transfer now, on the offchance that transfers aren’t blocked from the new system on release….transfer now when the prices are at all time highs to do so.
And once its released you treat anyone who pve’s their butts off to get that gold like chumps. They spend all those resources transferring only to be denied future rewards? lol.

Cruel as usual…..but only some of you can see that, as usual. WvsW as a whole are just pve players who like thinking that because they fight somewhat intelligent ai, they are better than pve players.

Be honest, wvsw was better before the beta started. It was better before hot started. Every change they make is the opposite of what the playerbase expects/wants, and it shows.

ya idk what there is to do anymore either.

Pvp is stupid, it really is. Raids are not at all accessible, and they aren’t about skill at all….its just a glorified game of twister with 9 people.

wvsw is really all I do and just chug the new pve maps when they comeout. But now wvsw is terribad all the time. Just…want to play challenging content with my warrior and I can’t.

The funnest thing I can do is the meta on the new map…the final 2 bosses, soloing them is fun or doing it with few to no people. Just fighting difficult/challenging pve is all I want and the game doesnt’ have that……its definition of difficult is making you solve puzzles or instant die. Everything else in the hot zones is easy……just ridiculously easy when you are geared properly. I’d have to strip all my gear off and takea lower set to have the challenege I want. But then wahts the point? You don’t get anything good from killling those thigns to begin with so why do more work to kill them? ughhhhh, need a new game.

Eotm isn’t fun at all for anyhting other than guild runs. You play eotm with familiar people….thats why its fun.

So ur basically just taking wvsw and removing the sense of community and connection. It’ll just be a place where guilds do runs for an hour every few days, and everyone else follows 1 tag aARound and around and around doing the same stuff for karma/exp.

Your comparison is pretty pointless anyway, 1 scrapper can nearly perma superspeed a dolly, two or more can shuffle them inside as fast as possible. Ie packed dollys supported by scrappers would always be the best.

Maybe read the actual thread next time before you comment, cause I said all of this in the thread and you have added nothing of value to the discussion. Maybe take ur own advice on the definition of pointless before pointing it outward.

The whole point is that alot of people STILL don’t know all this stuff. Its great that you know all this stuff, its wonderful, its truly inspirational how even some1 like urself can know stuff like this. Gives hope to all wvsw players that they can learn the entire game if they only try.

I have to explain the contents of this thread to people over and over and over again. So I thought “hey lets just post it all somewhere like the forums, surely the people on the forums would like to come out learning something rather than just complaining and reading other people complaining. Maybe it can start a trend where people post learning material and we can all become more enriched each time we visit rather than the usual showdown”. Clearly such intent is lost on people though, so I willl return to posting like the meta.

So a slight twist on this topic:

Engaged a rifle warrior on my Ele the other night at South Camp and lost (yes, I’m bad and I know it).

I’m lying there dead, about to WP and a fellow server thief engages the guy and downs him. So far so good.

Fellow server thief whispers me to ask how could I lose to the rifle warrior. I candidly admit that I am kitten (because it is true – not a roamer, just a trier). So he lets the enemy guy rez, take the camp and toodles off laughing leaving me dead!!!

Moral of the story is that you get hatred, and salty whispers even from your own side. Block and move on.

I can’t do much against viper burst thiefs when my resistance is on CD.

Its literally happened 2 times the past week….thiefs jump in at the end of a fight from nowhere cause they so kitteny fast and I got no resistance to survive it with.

Lets assume all yaks are measured through “speed”, for the ease of argument.

So which is better? Who would win in a fight? The Speedy yak or the fat one?
Maybe you’re thinking its not a fair comparison to begin with. Maybe your thinking one is meant for 1 thing and the other for another thing.

Correct answer: Packed Yaks are better 95% of the time.

Statistics:
They cost the same in mats
Packed yaks: 2.0-3.0x yak speed + twice as much supply delivered
Speedy yaks: 1.5x yak speed

The ONLY reason to use speedy yaks is for guild escort missions. As they give the max movespeed possible for a yak, and packed yaks do not count as 2 on the missions. This can also be a double edges sword if you are doing upgrade missions, in which case you are likely to come out on top by using packed….but there are situations where you maybe just need the escorts or can leave the objective to upgrade on its own at a slower rate.

One final plus to speedy yaks is they move faster making it more difficult to catch them “at times” by enemy players. But this is very very circumstantial, and assumes there is no escort for the yak. If there is an escort for the speedy yak….well you are wasting a player on it (that could otherwise be killing enemy yaks/camps) since they can’t increase the speed of the yak, they are pretty much afking by it. The invulnerable yak upgrade also exists….and players should be using “this” along with watchtowers and nearby roamers to protect the camps and yaks from most threats.

for the nonbelievers I present you MATH:
speedy yaks give superspeed to the yaks, which is the max movespeed possible for a yak. superspeed is 50% faster. So the yaks speed becomes 1.5×. Thus swiftness or applying superspeed does not affect the yak since the max movespeed is already achieved.

Packed yaks grant 2 ticks per objective reached rather than the usual 1 tick. They also give 2x the supply. That said they are stuck at normal 1.0 speed. So how can I say they grant 2.0-3.0x speed? Well we are 2x the tick….so we doing what a normal yak does twice as well….so they are theoretically moving twice as fast. An easier way to visual it is: imagine packed yaks are 2 normal yaks placed ontop of eachother. When you grant these yaks swiftness/superspeed what are you doing? you are giving each yak 1.33->1.5x the speed. There are 2 yaks though so we simply add the output of each yak together and we get a max value of 3.0x speed.

Tl:DR: Speedy does not mean faster! if you are putting speedy yaks on your camps you are doing it wrong. Switch to packed! Its upsetting to me each time I see people putting speedy yaks on things thinking they are helping! Speedy are an inferior product and there is no reason for you to use them (except mbe for guild missions)! Get your moneys worth and help your bl! Play smart!

If you ever noticed on reset how a team had packed yaks on camps all over their team’s bls……its a good indication that you should transfer there! It means they are SMART, and paired with enough people SMART ENOUGH to help them be SMART! Good litmus test when searching for competent bl.

Go to metabattles and choose one of those builds, then modify it as you like. They did update some of the defaults recently so they might be okay now….for pvp that is. But check metabattles and compare first, if its not a copy its probably outdated/bad.

Except this isn’t a soccer team. It’s an MMO instance designed for up to five players and you (or I) sometimes choose to go it alone. The NPCs are there for lore, not to play the game for us. I’d like to see them rez us from dead (rather than ‘restart from checkpoint’) and I’d love to see a mechanic like Arkk’s from Nightmare Fractal (“Quickly, retreat inside my shielding!”).

But for now, it seems ‘fair’ that they do too little rather than too much for the sake of gameplay.

I wouldn’t mind if they did more. All the same, I think it’s fine — and perhaps even better — that they do little.

Wut? Its okay that a real player can play the game for you, but if an ai does “part of it” thats wrong? lol.

having experienced the opposite extreme of gw2: I have to tell you that having the friendly ai actually act like friendly ai is what pulls people into games and gets them invested.

You should play x-wing alliance. You enter new missions in teh story not knowing what the heck will hit you. But on the missions where you run with your fleet and comrades you KNOW that some1 has your back. They mimic actual humans while still making you feel like the center of attention. There are plenty of missions where your teammates do all the work without you. You can fly off in the opposite direction and they can complete teh mission without you doing a single thing. Is this bad? no, not at all cause you don’t know the script of the scenario. You don’t know if it will be alright or not. Its realism at its finest. gw2 is just closed isntance spam 1 and advance the story…spam 1 and advance story.blah blah…

i.e.
Warrior – Gunflame – Gs/rifle
winterberry seaweed as the junk food; carrot-souffle/springroll as the main
Potent sharpening stones, furious maintenance oil, thesis of masterful strength

Explanation: I have alot of seaweed leftover and its still ‘okay’ for roaming duty and getting around maps like desert since I lack movespeed. For real combat though it is lackluster. Carrot souffle doesn’t compare to the old 10% damage seaweed, but its the closest thing I can find atm. Requires a kill to get the 30 second uptime of 200 power…leading to a total of 270 in stats. Requires killing some pve before engaging competent enemies or just a general slower windup when dealing damage and kills. Once you get rolling though its an okay food. It also applies to gs but gs got nerfed alot……so its overall just….is what it is, makes the best of a horrid situation. I’m really enjoying springroll atm https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Spring_Roll. And it might become my new main food all the time….its just great having perma swiftness and fury uptime with my build since its usually slow and I need 100% crit rate to get do my damage.

For utilities I hate using anything that isn’t lvl 80. ALWAYS take a lvl 80 utility with you. Furious maintenance oil is my preference over furious sharpening stone since it gives vitality instead of toughness. I run scholar and I prefer the vitality to give me a larger window ‘in general’ from which to have access to that 90% or higher hp for extra damage buff. Furious are relatively expensive atm so only use for tough situations to get the extra bit of tank+dmg. And thesis is really only used when I have a utility booster available (buy when on sale)….otherwise there’s no way to justify its use since its 2g or more per 30 mins.

OVerall I’m killing about 23s per 30 minutes of food/utility uptime…. So 46s per hour of play, which is pretty good for lvl 80’s cost wise.
