I would make a mayor change. No out/in combat diffrence. Speed as out of combat and basicall you are in combat in WvW exept when in an uncontestet keep/tower or the base.
Always hated that get fast out of combat timer ….

Would need some kind of healing potion then for people who don’t use passive heal and only use incombat heals like heal on hit. Nvm we have med kits….I knew they existed for a reason!

The Problem is, Warri has rly bad dps. in Raids, wari is usefull cause of Phalanx and Banners. Groups DPS Buffs, if you dont use this, you are useless.

A-Net has to buff the dmg from Warri, something about 90-100% or you are useless everytime without Phalanx =(

You reallly gotta come off this already lol. You see 1 little chart and now ur campaigning throught the streeets!

Warrior does fine damage as is. Stop getting stuck up on those charts. This is old news m8. Everyone has known a warrior does alot less dps than an ele will over 60 seconds or whatever. Everyone has known we are in the lower half of the spectrum. That isn’t justification for a damage increase on all our weapons though. You gotta consider what it does for burst warrior, tank warrior, support warrior, and all the other possible warrior types. You can’t increase sustained dps values and not increase all other values in the process. WEll you can…but you would need to change/redesign what our attacks do, and that aint gonna happen.

WvW - beating a thief?

I’ll give you the best advice ever. And its super easy to do as well. And I need only use say two words to explain it to you. So pay attention caues this is really important:

STAND STILL

if you see a thief coming at you…..just stop moving. Sit and wait for them to hit you. You can easily read them if you just stand there. You can easily hit them if you just stand there. YOu can easily confuse them if you just stand there. You can easily kill them if you just stand there.

I mean I use gunflame. So when a thief comes at me, i stop moving. They get the first hit in, I hit my endure pain if I need to, activate berserker mode (taunt gets many of them), and fire my gunflame the moment they do a flip and land on the ground….it will hit if they do a second flip, since their jump attacks have a very small window where they don’t evade (theres some videos of this, i actually had some1 post 1 for me…..if u search a page or so back in my history you will eventually find it). Remember when you stand stil, the game automatically gives your attacks a 360 degree attack radius. meaning it will automatically turn you to attack some1 behind you, or follow some1 if they jump all around you. Killshots will aimbot to the target and follow them into stealth if it goes off.

Also be sure to have your minimap zoomed in to the max, so you can see whether or not you down the thief while they are in stealth. Then just cleave and aoe the spot they seem to be (you won’t always get them but most of the time you willl).

Ifyou encounter a thief when you are too low hp….generally just guess when they ‘will’ attack and activate some sort of endure pain/block if you have it. Otherwise just dodge when you think they r gonna hit…..I’ve saved my skin plenty of times by noticing a thief following me stealth, then I started counting how long it would likely take him to hit me, when I hit 8 seconds I automatically dodged and I evaded the opening attack and managed to completely wreck the poor guy since his stealth wore off soon after, and he didn’t immediately run away when he lost his opening strike..

High mobile classes that can enter and leave combat is a very abusive mechanic for roamer. i know this topic isnt something new. but how its abused makes other classes like druids and thieves and warriors significantly better than the rest.

I mean mesmers blinking twice defintley aint a problem. Nor is them disappeaering all the time. Nor is them stealthing during a disappear. Nor is moa’ing an enemy and running a problem. Nor is bombing the crap out of some1 and leaving to have a smoke while they play with ur illusions.

I mean engie’s using stealth gyro definitely ain’t a problem. Nor is the stealth duration given after exiting the gyro. Nor is the cc spam you can lay down on an enemy.

Plenty much everything to a large extent except tempests, necro, revenant (and lets be honoest revenants are fast mofo’s when they wanan be) can abuse the ooc mechanic. I don’t understand why Druid and warrior are top of ur list there…at least you can see where the kitten they are/go when they run….. o wait, druid has stealth tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
So i guess remove warrior from ur list then. If gs5 is the thing thats allowing them to ooc away from you, yer playin the game wrong. If they using a sword then there’s no point even paying attention to them

Both were doing half damage when they interrupted enemeis though……..soooooooooooo instead of complaining for a 4th-5th-6th time i thought changing sigils might do something?

So I made:
-air
-draining

And I haven’t gotten the half damage gunflame yet on interrupts, which is nice. Not sure whyyyyyyy things changed though. All i did was grab my night rifle and replace sigil of night with draining……and for some reason im not getting the bug on my night or day rifles so far (no clue why…).

Not reallly sure i like draining over force though…..and i really dont like force. I mean rifle has 3 interrupts last i checked with taunt traited on berserker mode. With headbutt i guess that makes 4 but i dont usually use it on rifle builds. Most of the competent enemies I get interrupts on, but at the same time i dont want to be in deep against these guys and ideally will snipe them from afar and be 100% hp the entire time…..meaning sigil of draining won’t do anyhting (last i checked it doesn’t proc unless ur below 100% hp).

only heal i run is healing signet, and i use scholar….so heals are lacking in more dire situations.

seemed to randomly get 1-2 of the draining procs on thiefs without any indication i interrupted them….not sure whats up with that, just kittenty combat log i guess.

idk, so thinking of doing air/drain for day, and night/drain for night…?

or mbe just night/aair for night like i had originally…….but the game might go back to halving my gunflame dmg on interrupt.

orrrrrr mbe the glitch was with THAT sigil of night that i replaced with drasining and im alllll in trhe clear now…..who the kitten knows

Sword and board is a common old reference/slang in RPG/MMOs. Sword + board. It’s often used still. The term, maybe not the combo as Warrior.

@ OP,

Most of us don’t like it either. Its lazy and overpowered as you said. But like many say…..we just don’t have enough stuff elsewhere (stealth, blocks, aoe, heavy cc, hot crap) to get by.

Personally I dont care anymore, we should just suck it up and have them nerf it. WE ARE WARRRRRIORRRS afterall.

Well what do you expect when you aren’t play the mode properly? If you play the mode wrong you get punished, nuff said. Its like doing pvp and running around killling everyone but not standing in any of the circles….
You playing the game wrong, son!

You ain’t got any unblockables either so thats a reason why you took so long to land any kills….and the longer you go the less chances you have of securing kills of a larger group with a warrior (cause of our 60s cd’s). Go cleansing ire and take out ur berserker stance, or keep rousing resilience and remove ur endure pain for a signet of might.

I personally rarely feel challenged in HoT in the Story instances. And what exactly is wrong with gliding?

Sounds like someone who is use to the face roll that was core(after all when you play a game for long enough the combat becomes second nature) and the differences in HoT where just too much. I remember being terrified of Smoke scales.

No, it sounds more like some1 is salty that some1 is speaking truths about their favourite game…

Don’t just assume things about the OP. Them not mentioning how hard/easy they found the combat has nothing to do with friendly ai behaviour.

Besides the fact the chances of this ever happening are less than me winning the lottery, I don’t really see the point of it.

Why would anyone enter with more then the absolute minimum? Why would anyone enter with 10 times the amount of someone else? There is zero incentive to do so.

Not forgetting if they ever brought this live all the non-bounty hunters would happily kill anything that moves on the map and destroy any chance of having a 1v1. Are you saying a non-bounty hunter who kills a bounty hunter gets money or just a price on their head that they can’t see?

60 man blob kills a bounty hunter with 1g on their head- does every member of the mob get a 0.015 price on their head?

Maybe they could bring this in for spvp so they can bunker even more…

….to make significantly more money. That seems like a bit more than zero incentive to me.
The players themselves will set the range of entry fee levels based on how many play the mode. ONce you enter you continue till you checkout or die though. 5 kill minimums give quite a bit of room for bounties to skyrocket to levels where you are like: “dang i wish i had paid a higher fee up front so i could keep more than 7g of my 60g bounty”. I mean I can’t say what the standard levels would reach to though. WOuld make sense to start at 1g though and go higher based on your success rate. ALl the money that goes into the mode comes from the players…..I think you are forgetting that fact. If all just want to give 1g each….sure they can do that. Some might wanan give 2g cause they are going well though……some others might find bigger payoff startign with 3g. This raises to 4g….etc….etcccc till we hit the 10g mark.

Maybe entrance fee’s should be capped at some rate like 10-20g though? idk, maybe. I’m personally fine with some1 putting hundreds of gold into the mode, idk why you wouldn’t be. IF some1 goes 100g as their entrance fee and everyoen else is only going as high kitten….what will happen? Well depending on how long people go for, a person with 1g entry might amass a bounty of 30g or more….so our 100g entry friend could easily fill all that contribution room they made for themselves. alternatively mbe everyone is newly joined and it takes 20 kills for them to fill that contribution room.

Srsly i did answer every single point you brought up in the original OP…..just go back and look through it. Its long I do apologize, I can understand if you overlooked some of the information.

If people run in large zergs and end up killing a bunch of bounty hunters…what does this do for them? Well it increases their contribution room by a large amount but their bounty by a very very small amount. If you put in a low entrance fee then sure, this is a good way to increase your contribution room. In order to get a big payday though you still need to fight and kill other bounty hunters in small group or 1vs1 situations. So a good strategy might infact be to zerg for a while, then run off and small group roam for the real money. But other people will be doing this too….
And other people will be running around doing small group roam from the start as well….
Everyone is motivated by the same factors, everyone has to pay upfront and doesn’t want to die and lose this money. When 2 zergs go at it and each has bounty hunters in it…….one zerg is gonna eat the other in the normal wvsw fashion, and you can bet bounty hunters are gonna be targetted more than normal players and like I mentioned you have to hit the enemy bounty hunter before they are downed lol. Making it worthwhile for bounty hunters to be frontline zergers rather than firing on enemies from the very back of the zerg. Definitely gives bounty hunter thieves a job if there are backline bounty hunters as well….very lucrative way for them to get high bounties if they play it right since they will likely be solo’ing the enemy bounty hunter who is more focused on monitoring the zerg fight than their flank.

In terms of the zergs themselves: We would assume most bounty hunters won’t be standing around waiting to be trampled by a zerg…..they are gonna be map aware, and its pretty easy to avoid zergs if you are solo.

so lets give some examples:

b1 = 10g
b2 = 5g
b3 = 3g
b4 = 2g
b5= 1g

Okay so say we have 5 bounty hunters join the mode fresh at the same time. Above are the bounties they bought as their own (paid up front upon entry to mode). For simplicity lets just assume they can cashout at any time.

Ex 1) So B1 kills b2, in a solo situation, and come out with a new bounty of 15g. b2’s bounty goes to 0 and they are no longer a bounty hunter.

b1 wants to cash out….
(10)2 = 20g initial money room.
(0.1)5 = 0.5g in extra contribution room from player kills
So with a total of 20.5g in contribution room, and a total bounty of 15……B1 can walk away with 15g

Ex2) So B5 kills B1, in a solo situation, and comes out with a new bounty of 11g
They want to cash out…
(1)2 = 2g initial money room
(0.1)10 = 1g extra contribution room from player kills
So with a total of 3g in contribution room, and a total county of 11g……B5 can walk away with 3g in gold.

Ex3) B5 kils B1, but B1 had already killed B2,B3,B4,B6
So B5 gets a bounty of 20g, and can walk away with 4g.

Ex4) B1/B2 are working together to secure kills. They kill B3 (3g bounty), and B4 (2g bounty)
That nets them each 2.5gold out of a 5g bounty pot.
But oh nooo, b1 gets killed by 1 player who isn’t a bounty hunter. And loses 10% of their bounty so -10% of 12.5 is 1.25g, meaning b1’s bounty is now 11g, and we have a normy out there with a bounty of 1.25
B1 goes out and kills the one who stole this money though and they are back to their bounty of 12.5g.
B1 then goes and kills B3 (3g) but is accompanied by 2 others in teh kill. so B1 gets 1/3rd of 3g so its 1g added to b1’s bounty (13.5g)

Bounty Hunter is an optional mode you can enable in wvsw through the wvsw tab.

Concept:

Players designate a custom amount of gold, that they pay upfront, which then becomes their bounty (1g minimum). Upon paying you can join in this new mode as a BOUNTY HUNTER. Any other players who don’t pay or enter the mode, aren’t directly a part of the mode and aren’t gonna see anything different while playing wvsw. Upon joining you can see the number of other bounty hunters active, their present bounties, and their wvsw titles (would just be thier wvsw title….since whispering eachother via names would be problematic)

Players with the mode active will, upon killing other bounty hunters, gain the other players bounties and add it to their own. Meaning the players that die lose their bounty and must pay a new one to return to the mode.

Dying to players not playing the mode will amount to -10% of your present bounty being lost. This 10% is distributed to the players not playing in the mode. Killing any of these players will net their share of that 10% to your own bounty, WITHOUT RESTRICTION (so you can last hit and still get full money), if you are a ‘bounty hunter’. Actually there is 1 restriction, having 1 or more bounty hunters get the hits with you will split the player’s bounty between all of you.
i.e. 2 bounty hunters kill a normal player with 0.5g in bounty….they each get half, so 0.25. If another normal player helped…..they woulnt get anything. Similarly if a normal player kills a normal player with a bounty….the normal player doesn’t lose their bounty nor does the new normal player earn one.

Bounty hunters will have a special marker and will be purple/orange text highlighted when u see them. Their bounties will also be posted above theirs heads. Normal players with bounty accumulated from kills will have that number displayed above them in purple/orange.
-Normal players will not see any of this information since they aint taking part in the mode as a bounty hunter.

Players with bounties must have hit the enemy with a bounty that died within the last 30 seconds of life, otherwise it doesn’t count as their kill. Hits on a player in downed state will not count as proof of kill…so if some1 downs a bounty hunter and another bounty hunter or players comes and taps a downed body it won’t give them their bounty.

The bounty of a bounty hunter killed will be distributed evenly between all players that attacked them in the last 30 seconds of life, provided a bounty hunter landed one of the hits on them. Otherwise all players only get 10% of the killed bounty hunter’s bounty. If multiple bounty hunters are present, for a kill, there is no change….its split the same. Normal players don’t get any rewards for accumulating a bounty.

i.e. 2 bounty hunters and 1 normal player get cred for a kill: everyone gets 33.3% of the bounty added to them
i.e. 3 normal players kill a bounty hunter: 10% of the bounty hunter’s bounty is distributed amongst them, 3.33% each.
i.e. 1 bounty hunter get cred for a kill: they get 100% of the bounty added to them.
i.e. 2 bounter hunter get cred for a kill: they get 50% each

Players with bounties have the option of showing themselves on the minimap to all players in a pulse fashion. They can click an option that pulses their location.
Any bounties that die are marked on the map for a period of time (10s or more). All map bounties are ping’ed once every 10 minutes regardless.
The total number of bounty hunters on the map is always available in the wvsw tab mentioned earlier.

Sooo that sound great….where does this lead though? How is payday calculated>? why should i buy myself a large bounty to start?

Well lets say a bounty hunter amounts a number of bounties and ends up with a 30g bounty. Lets say they posted an initial bounty of 2g to enter the mode.
Initially: At max you can double the amount you put in though (2x contribution room).
So their max would be 4g they could take out of that 30g pool. Each kill they make though will allow them a 0.1(killed bounty hunter’s bounty) in contribution room.

so its literally 2x(your initial bounty fee)+0.1(1stbountykilled) + 0.1(2nd bounty killed)….
And you can take that final amount of your final pool home with you. The remainder goes to some fat npc at spawn who manages all the bounty stuff.

If you happen to be one of many that helped kill the bounty it is possible this contribution room value will be above the total bounty you have accumulated, in which case you can only gain up to 100% of the bounty….no more than that.
i.e. a guy with 100g bounty got killed by you and others…..it increases your final contribution room by 10g.

Also you cannot cashout ur bounty until you have at least 5 bounty kills. If you leave the mode before that happens, you can simply rejoin it at a later time without penalty.

Getting bored really easily/quickly lately?

I mean I was here at the launch of the game back in 2012 or whatever…..and stopped at christmas time, and just came back last year a week before hot launched (without realizing there was an expansion about to launch lol). I didn’t buy hot till it went on sale 3 months ago during all that time. Felt alot of the magic of the game slip away when HoT came, and saw alot of it gone when i returned before hot came. I did a legendary in the spring, predator. If I liquidate all my assets I can probably barely afford to make 1 more. would bug me to sell all my stuff at these lower prices though haha.

I’ve been rolling back my gametime alot the past 1-2 weeks. I’ll start rolling it back some more then. Roll back my forum time too hehe. WIll be hard to just plain stop though, dont have much to do in my downtime atm and get frustrated learning new stuff. new games too i have a really hard time getting into. although i have personal projects ive been making significant progress in (working on script of a VN atm)

Hi all!
I’m thinking of trying out warrior for WvW solo roaming and got a few questions.

  • Is there any build that is easier to learn for a new warrior? Does not need to be the strongest, but maybe a build that carries a new warrior easier. Appreciate if you include the full build including runes/sigils/armor/weapon/traits etc.
  • Is Greatsword mandatory for roaming? Just about every warrior I encounter in WvW roaming was using a GS.
  • Is Sword+Board effective in the current meta for roaming? What are its weaknesses and strengths? Who does it struggle to fight against?
  • Does anyone actually use dual one-hand weapons? like Sword/Shield + Axe/Warhorn or Axe/torch + Sword/warhorn

1. Basic meta build prettyy easy to pickup and use. Hard to master obviously. there ya go. If you want to complicate things and need another button to press….replace the strength trait line with berserker (just choose the top (first) trait in each column 1-1-1). Honestly things get more complicated when adding berserker mode, and you don’t necessarily really need it for this build (which is something you won’t be able to say for most builds). You can use hoelbrak runes instead of strength….you lose a little damage but it makes getting blinded less of an issue and less frustrating especially if you are new. if you want you can use trinkets with vitality and toughness in them, helps if you are newer….allows you to slow down ur reaction time and learn how to presss things properly without the whole “OMG IM GONNNA DIE I HAVE TO PRESS RANDOM BUTTTONS QUICK OR IM GONNA DIE”

2. ifyou want to be effective, this yes greatsword is pretty much required for roaming. There are a few exceptions obviously (rifle+sword shield) but if you go power warrior you should be taking a gs. even people who run condi warrior take a gs sometimes…lol. condi warriors generally use sword for roaming type stuff……

3. dont use a warhorn, it gives you swiftness at the expense of 2 other useless skills. if you trait ur warhorn you are even more useless. torch can be used. sword shield is used, although you must understand where sword is good and where it isn’t. Generally people don’t use a power weapon and a condi weapon ie. axe/torch. Celestial stats can be rather effective though if you choose that route. I’ve seen plenty of gs+sword celestial warriors doing well.

Nerf/Improvements for warrior/berserker

Nerf the healing and nerf defense line……done. I agree, making AH grandmaster would be perfect idea. Can put rousing resilience as our t2 option (replace mace mastery or the one that gives you 100 power…both r dumb tbh). That way people choose between an endure pain at 50% hp or something that gives you damage reduction and heals…….MAKES SENSE. Then ur tier 3 ones can be AH, cleansing ire, and defiant stance or whatever its called (people would still use that for pve, although it could use a buff to make it chooseable over the other 2. ON THE OTHER HAND…..its a pretty good threesome compared to most of the others in warrior traits…so just leave it its fine).

Its kind of a weird question right? This sandbox mode with limitations and rules…whats the hard part of it? ANd how do we define hard…..and what subjective profiling is going on in ur head to determine what you end up choosing as the hardest….

My personal answer: Hardest part of the mode is probably finding people I like, and being able to play with these people in sufficient numbers, all at the same time in a squad, to accomplish the things I want to do.

I mean some1 else might answer: its building siege, its having guild catapults, its mesmers, its large zergs, its ppt, its ppk, its duelers, its tonic shenanigans……its a very open ended question that covers a variety of potential sets of components so don’t be scared to answer in your own way.

I won’t touch the game for days and I’ll come back and do stuff in it and I’ll find myself wondering why I’m doing this 20 minutes in. Cause its kinda boring…..

Idk if anyone else feels the same way. Rather than a place to vent, was hoping for solutions and new things to do in the game I may not have considered.

I’m a wvsw player. I do the pve story. I’ve done all the pre-hot map stuff, the hot map stuff ive done pieces of it all over……just don’t find it interesting enough to actually finish any of the maps though (just frustrating and overall dull exploration). I’ve done the ls3 new maps plenty of times over and they were fun for what they were. Ember bay has probaly been my favourite and ive spent the most time on…which is kind of weird since bloodstone fen has a much more interesting set of enemies and map. Yet Ember is funner to be on for a variety of reasons…

im a wwvsw player….done the pve stuff. done dungeons (i liked dungeons alot…dont feel the need to run them all a million times to unlock all achievements though, done it for arah though) done fractals up to 80 with like 0 AR…..I hate the concept of AR especially since im a wvsw player and I don’t have AR since wvsw infusions prevent you from having it…i shouldn’t have to buy the same armour set for each pve mode.
pvp i also never liked much…..its just a pve version of wvsw really…your focus is to stand in circles, rather than fight.

Raids? i don’t have fwieeeends. so i never really bothered since everyone i try to party with (be they mentor or pub squads) never actaully start the raid…..they just complain till the party disbands.

I enjoy trading on the TP and making gold by crafting and selling. THe prices though really dictate when and if I do this…..and everything is wayyyy down in price so not really any point since they r just gonna keep sinking.
Crafting, same thing. I mean its hard enough to do this stuff and not lose money on it as is.

I enjoyed farming the wintersday events for presents and selling them to buy a commander tag last christmas. that was fun in its own rewarding way. Was extremely disappointed wiht the difficulty of many of the events but…..whatever, carol of the bells was okayish at least and that was where the presents were at.

I try to run diff professions….just dont find them interesting though. Mainly just stick to my warrior….and my 2 main characters are both warriors lol.

I mean id like to be able to join a RP on the go if I felt like it. Haven’t really seen any though when i check the places its suppposed to be going on.

I think you folks would be better off to complain about the absolute superiority of the mussels line of foods though.

As for siege, siege is so cheap now for the most part even if you run of heroics. Regular siege is good for those situations where you have exactly enough for it and not enough for a superior. Otherwise, it doesn’t have much use unless you run in a big group where supply isn’t an issue anyways or it’s trivial to resupply (usually EB)

And hey I’m not saying kmart siege aint cheap….it is cheap. And I aint saying most people don’t have an excess of heroics to maintain a cache of superior siege……they do if they don’t solo things or command (most people dont do either lol)

Kmart siege is inadequate to the extent that noone of value should be using it for anything except taking down super low structures, when ur too poor to own guild siege and don’t have enough supply, or as an accompanyment for superior siege (like 1 superior ram and 1 kmart ram for a paper gate). It shouldn’t even exist or be used if you can afford guild siege….and thats really the point of the thread. Money siege has made a whole set of siege completely obsolete…..
I mean if superior siege cost as much as kmart siege and guild siege as much as superior….i wouldn’t be complaining lol. The very fact we agree that kmart siege has its place in the game, even though its obsolete, and theres something that isn’t obsolete that does the same stuff as kmart siege but more…. is really pivotal to the argument that the game is pay-to-win

What’s funny is there used to be a ton of mesmers around in WvW until the nerf to the glamour build that was being run at the time. The nerf marginalized mesmers to the extent that you’d be hard-pressed to find even one for golem portals. Saw something similar happen to warriors after the stability nerf and HoT release.

Ya mesmers are so underpowered in wvsw atm. Anet should buff all their stats and abilities A L O T. I mean all they are useful for is their portal….and that single ability definitely doesn’t determine the outcome of a fight.

Was just messing around last night. And started to gather all my crap in the bank and sort it into a working condi set. I list it as apothecary in the editor but i have a mix atm, I’m making them trailblazer stats where I can, otherwise apothecary where possible. If not that then im trying for dire type stats…..basically just not precision and ferocity, and an emphasis on condi and healing power, and third emphasis on toughness, i supppose thats the kind of gear stats im going for.

Then doing the basic anti power warrior stuff while stacking types of condi clear everywhere i can. And ya thats a hammer there….lol. What? I think its kinda cool. Not really interested in a meta build anymore. Just imagining a tanky condi control warrior that kind of burns everything around it while tanking and surviving tooth and nail. So my emphasis is on utility rather than pure stats. I want something more fun to play….I mean my other build is glass cannon gunflame so i want to go back to a fun melee tank control kinda build where i can right up in the fray while making an impact.

I’m kinda curious if hammer should be the same stats as the other weapon set? I was thinking if i swapped to hammer the condi i had on my enemies would do less damage since my condi stats would decrease if hammer wasn’t spec’d condi? is that true? or is the condi damage gonna be the same regardless of what weapon stats i swap to (while in combat dumbdumbs, aka my hammer)? I mean if its the same condi tick damage as applied in my mace/torch, then i might as well go nomads on my hammer……srsly if any of you misinterpret this im going to throw a fit.

Well cause I looked at the wiki….lol.

They grouped trinkets except rings under ONE category indicating that they all had a chance at this things in some numbers. I didn’t bother to read the entry on each of those things tho….and yes it says salvaged from amulets for that 1 entry. I would have gone amulets if i was aware of that perhaps.

ON THE OTHER HAND….if amulets were mentioned like that it implies that 2/3 jackpots might not be given from amulets. so I have double the chance of getting something from backpiece from that logic….even tho price is twice as much. YOu would assume also that backpieces would give more mats than something cheaper to create.

Alternatively you could say that amulets provide a chance of all 3 jackpots and that one of the jackpots is amulet only.

PROBLEM IS…the wiki did NOT specify which of the scenarios above is true. And if it specifies “trinket excluding rings give this crap:” you would generally assume that all that crap comes from any trinkets other than ring…..cause thats what it says lol. Especially when they are bothering to create categories and tell you what those specific categories give (ie. rings give this…..armour/weapons give this….. trinkets other than rings give this….).

I mean here’s a crazy thought: you lose a battle! an npc dies or is wounded because of you not taking the mission seriously. decisons you make (go left through the creepy forest or right through the unicorn happy lands) that inquire some basic logic net some logical reward/strife.

I wanted to address this point separately, which I think you referenced a few times but I’m not going to quote them all.

They can’t do the kind of branching storylines you see in single-player games because they have to keep the same continuity going for years and it becomes a huge amount of work. Single-player RPGs have the advantage that they’re writing and creating the story all in one go and then it’s done.

Say for example there’s an instance where Braham either lives or dies depending on what you do. Some people will let him die, others will save him. From that point on they need to make 2 versions of every single storyline he would be in, which means it’s twice as much work. And every single time they add a choice like that they need to add another version of all the follow-ups.

WEll obviously they can’t have some people with dead main characters and some people who did stuff that didn’t kill the main characters….that would really be to much work.

I’m talking about little things. Like say you have to guard a camp or caravan or something from the enemy…….you go off stand and do cloud watching instead. Maybe the mission leads to that 1 scene npc guy who’s only relevant in this particular episode….maybe he dies! And since they are such small cahracters they dont even need to be repeated or mentioned afterwards…..although th ey could reference it as a horrid event here and there ijn the text or as a failed even or something (that wouldn’t take much work in terms of branching).

I mean here ill make a scenario:
-you arrive a generic camp, and generic commander greets you. you are tasked with defending the camp from an ambush, u and the npc guards fight the attackers off…
the npc actually help with killing some of the adds off, and npc actually die from it too if you don’t support them….
-Then after you clear the adds a cutscene happens where a miniboss appears and lunges at the generic commander guy. He’s pinned by the miniboss and you need to figure out a dumb little puzzzle on how to get the boss off of him before it eats/kills him. maybe you light some fire somewhere or man a cannon or something idk…..if you take too long figuring it out he dies though. alternatively if you lose too many allies in t he raid maybe that causes the commander to die in an enemy push automatically….thats not hard either.

Anyways the outcome is a bit of specific text based on what happened: successful defense, mournful loss. Then maybe later at the end of the season or later in future episodes….the death under ur watch is mentioned VS. THE save under ur watch is mentioned, how u save that idiiots life. There don’t necessarily have to be any aftereffects from that mention, it could be a fleeting mention from any npc really….

ITS NOT HARD to create lazy branches. its not hard to introduce generic npc, its not hard to kill them off. ITS NOT HARD to create episodes where the branch content doesn’t matter outside of that specific episode.

I had been storing wood and rubies and so I thought why not use it for something when people recommended doing this buying backpacks and salvaging them thing.

So bought 4 bloodstone and 4 skull backpieces.

Spent 10g and 10 laurels for 10 single piece kits. WEnt to fractals and used them to buy 2 5pc ascended salvage kits (heard the single piece ones were bugged)….so 20g in resources since a laurel is more or less 1 gold.

So that’s:
20g + 800 wood + 800 rubies + x unbound magic

And my output was:
-got all my unbound magic back! 500 per backpiece the same as I spent
-I got 8-9 +1 agony infusions per backpiece
-nothing
-nothing
-nothing

So that was fun.

SO next time I might recommend chooosing stats on the backpieces….maybe that makes a difference? WHO KNOWS! Never had any luck with RNG in this game, so I figured my luck might turn around but nahhhh. But thats okay. I’lll just save up more rubies and wood and……….not spend them on anything? sure.

This change should have been done from the getgo. Why you never put a cd on ur tonics to begin with is beyond my understanding. Other tonics all have cd’s on them. This one has special effects and can be activated while in combat and it has 0 cd…..GREAT IDEAS ANET. Just stellar planning there.

The OP points out that shinier things cost more gold.

However, for WvW, all that gold buys you is increased efficiency. Budget foods are nearly as good as expensive stuff; budget siege is just slower.

If anything, the original post is a good argument for joining a large guild, even if you prefer Havoc to Zerg.

I mean sure, 80-60 spreads are nearly as good as 100-80 spreads. But ur forgetting the fact that those foods were all crap to begin with. All the wonderful account bound things hot brought us are not remotely close in value to what u buy with badges. I’ll list 1-2 exceptions in all fairness: asparagus vs seaweed salad (closeish in value), carrot souffle vs its lvl 75 alternative (closeish enough), then theres a condi duration food which is closish enough to the lvl 80 variant…..so 3 exceptions lets say. In terms of utilities though….no. There is no comparison between the utility items u buy with badges and the ones that are account bound. I mean i can get 110 ferocity with furious sharpening stone + 100 toughness…..vs just 100 power with lvl 80 sharpening stone….even in terms of just doing damage the furious has the sharpening beat in many cases. Compare that 100 power to 200 power you get from writs……twice as effective.

You say all it buys you is efficiency. Yes….that’s exactly the word I would use lol. You seem to not think that efficiency is a big deal in wvsw though. Its not the same as saving 30 seconds of sit time. ALOT can happen in 30-60 seconds when ur sieging somthing of value or fighting some1 or doing anything of value in wvsw. DOing things efficiently is the key to success in wvsw…and never question the value of saving 10 more supply per siege item placed, that is HUGEEE for pretty much any group.

Actually, though GS is alright,I think it is rather boring to play. I like Axe/Axe better. It seems to work pretty darn well.

How exactly? You shouldn’t need fury and the other stuff from axe 4. Axe 3 is only useful for when you arent in cleave range. axe 2 is quite awkward for anything other than pve, its main use is that its a 360 degree attack that hits multiple times in fast succession (criting air or fire or whatever abilities on thiefs for example)…otherwise it can be used for setting up an eviscerate….but that leads to another problem I have with axe. THe primal axe2 ability is HORRRID. I HATEEEEE it so much. Its a crappy eviscerate, thats all it is….and people accept that cause it can be used multiple times in a row like every other primal. But no enemy is gonna sit there and let you land it multiple times in a row and god darnnnn its such kittentty damage and that shockwave makes no sense for such an ability and it does kittentty damage. I HATE IT SO MUCHHHH.

Axe 5 is the selling point really, and it leaves you open to attack AND cc the entire channel…easily knock some1 out of it if they dont stability before getting hit. And all it does is 100bs worth of damage….is a projectile thing so it activated combo fields which is cool but you arent running condi lol so it does kitten damage making most field not useful at all. The speed thing is coolish.

Just i’d take gs5 over it anyday. If I could pick and choose the best of axe and gs it would be replacing 100lb with axe 5…..thats pretty much it lol.

Assuming the mesmers can’t fit for a fight though: mesmers can just stealth spam to avoid fighting while they wait each 60 second interval….run nomads…..build rams….hire their own escorts.

No more finnicky waypoints! I bring you the way of the future: MESMER PORTAL HIGHWAYS!

Idea: you get as many mesmers as ya can, probably up to 10 max. You have them spread out from the nearest waypoint to the location of value you desire (smc or into the enemy corner or whatever). As the passengers are starting to lineup ontop of the waypoint (lets say ebg blue keep…valley or whatever) the first mesmer places the portal opening and starts traveling as far as it can to place the portal exit as far away as possible. You can nominate the mesmers to squad leiutenants and they can place markers on the exit/entrance portal locations. The mesmer hits its destination and waits as long as it needs to…or up to the time portal opening allows. Passengers arrive….mesmer activates portal. Passengers hit F they port…..1-2 seconds pass from the time of opening the first portals and the next portals are up from teh next mesmer who had started running 3-5 seconds after the first mesmer did….etc. SO if u are a passenger you are basically waiting for a few seconds if any….then pressing f ontop of the waypoint….running forward pressing f again….running forward pressing f again….running forward pressing f again. SO ur traveling across the map in the course of seconds. Could be used for runnign 25 supply to the frontlines or for suicide bombing an objective/enemy group by effectively doubling ur force, in 2 sets anyways. I mean people waste alot of time on camps getting new supply and what not, and they waste alot of time regrouping from teh frontlines. This solves everything fairly easily.

Just remember to pay ur mesmers well, or find volunteers who don’t know any better.

The trains can leave every minute on the minute with alarcity and what not reducing cd’s to makeup for human error….assuming they run rly fast and can place the entrance the exit within 10 seconds of the entrance or so.

Any veteran MMO player that is new to GW2 will instantly recognize that the game is actually worth taking at a slow pace instead of the fast pace that the mentors encourage.

However, it’s those who are new to MMOs that will most likely fall into the trap of farming, speed-running, and grinding. Otherwise, they are veteran MMO players that want to farm, speed-run, and grind.

To me, the quests in this game are really, really boring. I can’t really explain why. Maybe it’s the lack of NPC/Player interaction when starting a quest. Maybe it’s the lack of a decent reward for doing them. As a veteran MMO player myself, I’m used to receiving armor, gold, and other shinies from quests, but all I receive in GW2 is a measly amount of coins. Therefore, I find grinding more enjoyable than quests because the rewards are infinitely better. That’s just my opinion though.

take ur time and enjoy the game with ur first character. Ur gona have 0 connection to anything, and everyhting is just gonna be a slogfest grind if you auto level to 80 right off the bat. There is so much content to do before you hit 80. Its a real travesty to not play the game the way you were intended to play it. I mean when you get a new game do you activate the cheat codes as soon as you start ur first game? lol, cause thats what ur doing.

was like playing rise of nations and every game just spawning nukes on the enemy and 1000 or whatever unit you can think of on a specific spot….no challenege….no connection…..no playing of the actual real game lol.

I mean i still can’t get over how protective 1 character acts of another….and when it comes to protecting them they charge in and I sit there waiting and they do 0 damage to the things attacking the char they are insanely protective of…..and they r all generic adds at that. then the cutscene goes after i clear it and it acts like i didn’t do all the work lol.

dragons should kill things. the nps adds all over….theres – point in talking to them. theres 0 point in exploring the zones. I think one of the other problems is that the game lets you know what can and can’t be interacted with from 1000 yards away so theres no point in exploring anything without yellow text. and why should all interactables be visible from so far away? wouldn’t it make more sense that coming withint a short distance of something mightr activate the interact mode? would promote a bit more inclusiveness in terms of the envirnoment. u might feel like ur a part of the world around you.

gw2 has just become a very boring lackluster story. tehre doesn’t seem to be any indication that we will get a return to the story arcs presented in dungeons. that level of detail and stuff just doesn’t exist anymore it seems. plz return to the dungeon model for future story content…..where you don’t have useles npc all over….where characters have noteworthy interactions where you feeel connection…where npc do meaningful things…where the fights are meaningful and the enemies are rememberable to some extent….not just slog fest adds alll over….where you can activate bonus events and stuff by exploring a little.

srsly spend less resources/money developing these giant fancy beautiful environments we can’t intereact wiht and spend hardly any time in. You made everything pretty to look at. You just need to work on making a game….a game is somehting with interactive environments.

We seem to be going backwards back to gw1 where the biggest issue was amazing things in all the environments but no way to interact with them in any way…u just killled the enemies in the zones, if there wasn’t any enemies there was 0 point in going somewhere outside of pretty pictures. combine this gw1 thing with the fact that the story is lackluster….the overall character development is becoming more and more lackluster, the enemies and living world are completely generic slogfests and staticly lifeless affairs. Its boring. don’t make games this static in the future. seriously just make new dungeons….u can put all the serious bosses and primary story content in them. you can put the running around stuff as is in the current lame model. if keeping the story accessible to all skill levels is an issue…..then why the kitten don’t you just make the npc useful?
I’ll give you a basic example:
we enter a new zone. adds spawn and start attacking. i run in alone and they just swarm me completely and im about to die, an npc friend plants a shield on me and starts auto attacking the nearest enemies. another npc heals me and boons me, another does this…another does that. they can be all basic moves that the npc do! doesn’t have to be anyhting overly special. I honestly have no idea how you could make such great gw1 ai companions and now were stuck with such brainded ai in gw2. Take the ai from teh gw1 party members youcould hire, and put them into the npc party members….eez. If you are bad at the game…..stand close to ur ai guys, or do a backline thing and let them do the heavy hitting, or build tanky so u don’t get swarmed. if ur good…go damage and just go ham with ur build doing massive damage and timing ur dodges and whatever to mitigate incoming damage. the current story system is just so bad compared to what you’ve done in the past. u spend too much resources creating giant new maps…..I mean you don’t make a map the size of a small planet and then litter it with nothing but slogfest adds every 20m^2 of land.

my answer is no, mainly cause of the cliche generic story decisions made for the sake of extended gameplay with the least amount of game development work possible.

When gw2 first came out i was rly into it. the story though, it was exciting at first….and had its moments but it wasn’t amazing. And the closer you got to the end and fighting zhaitan the more meh and boring it became I found.

The story to date: I can appreciate how hard it must be to somehow bring all these races and potential player characters together to form some kind of story about killing dragons…
I can also appreciate the need to keep the story inclusive to all play levels….
But the story itself? really dull.

Everything follows the same formula…..something happens….kill a crap ton of adds…..something happens…..kill more adds…..something happpens…kill more adds. Is there any kind of connection to the things you kill? no. i just kill them and the next thing happens. there any kind of sense of acomplishment in achieveing through things in the story….saving people…..whatever? no. Do you feel grounded in the environment and do you feel like you are apart of a living world? no. Ur npc companions….heavy hitters in their realms are completely useless incombat with the exception of some specialty classes helping you removing environmental obstructions that block ur path to the next set of adds. I don’t care what npc falls in combat….there is no pressing need to help that guy who is getting swarmed…i can just rez him later and he doesnt’ do any damage anyways. And they dont do damage and they use the same animation over and over……its just static feeling.

its basically you doing everything and a bunch of helpless lifeless npc that are on ur side happen to be scattered around. you have to put up with the fact that you do all the work, yet you have to give credit to the other npc in ur party and act like they are important (some like taimi for example are…..since they dont do combat).

All events are linear and scripted. And all scripts and events follow a generic predictable model to extend game time.

The dragon fights…the centerpiece of this whole affair…..are pretty meh. Zhaitan i appreciated quite a bit when we finally got to fighting him, I thought the story mode of arah was done really well. The story mode of dungeons are probably the best story components of the entire game imo.
Fighting the others in living seasons and hot was really dull. The living season 3 has just continued this monotony to max extents.
u go from point a to b…killing adds you won’t ever remember cause the fights are so grind slog fests. theres no failure state so the only thing u mess up is wasting ur own time if you fail….lol, that really says somthing horrible right there about the story.

didn’t enjoy having my own pet dragon. or pet to take care of. why? cause i can’t do anything with it lol. it just sits in a zone and i can do 1-2 limited things with it…..and it just sits there the hwole time, and i can repeat the stuff over and over and the same reaction ….the same sitting around. I mean u got this huge zone u created for playdates and theres nothing to do anything in other than the very middle…i cant get fish from teh streams all over…..i can find anything or interact with anything in this huge pretty zone other than the little area in the middle. and like i said theres literally only 2 things to do for interactions. Just I don’t get what the point in coding and creating a pet dragon is and a home zone for it IS if it exists just so you can smile at it or play catch with it……

In general I see these amazing zones and maps created…..and you can’t interact with them in any way! I just find that such a waste in teh story modes. There are better ways to extend gametime….making zones more interactive is one of them.

story is just a slog fest to get the rewards for completion. and at the end of it you get some info on what happens to some characters in ur party…..those babies that put on armour and pretend they can fight. and you get maybe a bit of funny dialogue to pass the time with.

That doesn’t make a good story though……gw2 just has a bad story model imo. I mean I don’t know how other mmorpg do it, but its so limited in gw2 compared to any other story experience ive experienced on the market.

axe/axe is boring to play anyways. would need a redesign to make it interesting.

hot axe offhand:
axe4: summons giant dragon slashes that fire outward up to a 500 range from user, gaining 4s fury per target hit, inflicting 1/4s daze and 1s weakness, and granting 10 endurance per foe hit. Press 4 again anytime during the animation to retract the slashes, propelling urself backwards.

axe5: 6 second ability: smash ur axes together creating a lightning field. GOD OF THUNDER THOR STYLE. spin violently in this field, creating combo projectiles, inflicting invulnerability on target foes. Can immunity to damage for 1/4s every second. Press again to summon a giant lightning bolt, blinding all foes and creating a distortion field that flings EVERYONE in the field, including you 350 units away from the center of the field.

So….make it all aoe, make it do stuff that allows you to spam invulnerability/dodges/stun/dazes/knockbacks, give it a second utility ability that can be activated by smacking the button once more.

I’m not sure what is more surprising, that a server can gain 4 billion PPT or that a dev responded to a thread in WvW section.

Third option: that a dev chose to respond to this thread of all threads. Worst case scenario the glitch allows the borderland to gain 2 extra points to the warscore…..that 2 warscore is definitely the thing we need the devs to ADDRESS IMMEDIATELY….kitten de kitten

The Most Frustrating WvW Dailies

-agree keep and gaining 2 levels shouldn’t be in same daily, sometimes dailies are menial things that take 5 minutes to do…..other times its hours, should not be such a huge disrepency. Or rather: there should be more reward and more longer dailies to DO in general on all days. My 5 minutes of taking camps and sentries and killing guards shouldn’t net the same rewards as 1.5 hours of keep grinding and wvsw leveling.

-disagree with vet daily: I get that you may find it frustrating if you just want to drop in and get dailies done and drop out. I think its still fair though. There are 3 in alpine. 3 in desert……and well ebg has just the wurm really (that dumb harpy is a champ not a vet lol). It really should be expanded to cover all of the vet creatures on all of the maps. Maybe we can kill 2-3 instead of 1 to make it fair, since vets are alll over the place. I mean there is a vet black bear in the NW part of the desert map….which I always find really cool looking part of the map with cool npc…..and the NE there are the coolest npc ever (the silver wyverns)…..really a huge shame there is no r eason to visit these npc, vet creature daily is something that could fix this on ALL maps. If there are vets all over…..means people aren’t killing the same vets over and over. Which means equal opportunity for everyone rather than ‘luck’ or ‘camping’ a vet spot. Also rewards map exploration, and spreads people to lands they otherwise would never go to.

- agree with gaining 2 levels….takes too long for a daily. should be a single level.

-disagree with removing keep daily. keep daily is important for getting people to actually attack enemy keeps on the borderlands.

Overall: dailies should be more standardized betweeen days, promoting more map awareness, more types of fighting, and more roles.

Seriously what the kitten!?!?!

This guy stands next to me and activates and de-activates the kodan tonic in rapid succession causing all manner of fps and performance drops.

The screen just lights up and everything goes to kitten. I mean forget trying to play……the game literally spazzed out on me, I had to port to get away and when i did the game was still in shellshock mode for quite a bit.

How….why…..HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN!??!!? How can have something that can cause alll this evil in the game!?!?! Why is there no cooldown on the tonic like all the other tonics!?!?? Just what the kitten are you thinking anet?!?!?!

FIX THIS IMMEDIATELY! The tonic should be outright removed immediately if people are gonna abuse an issue like this.

Completely unacceptable.

I’m honestly curious why people havent’ done this ebg or somthing in a group and made the entire server crash or lagg to kittens.

This economy…..just why did they let it sink this bad? This isn’t healthy. Also I can’t sell all my mats for gold to buy gems……….gem prices aren’t dipping under 100g per 400 even with these low mat costs.

Oh wait, nevermind I think I found out why everything we own has become halfed in value.

Does anyone really believe this si gonna bounce back though? I mean when the next expansion and legendary armour (prolly won’t be out till next expansion lol) comes out it will change ‘for a while’ anyways….but its gonna go back to this point at this rate and keep slinking farther and farther to poverty.

I mean you can’t disable cats or golemns when they got thier shield skills on themselves……regardless of whether ur inside the dome and standing right next to it. I always found that to be dumb. ac shots go through those bubbles though…….which i also thought was stupid.

Shield gens though…..they filter ac fire which makes sense. They can’t be disabled while they are inside their shield domes though (correct me if im wrong on that i might be).

Also I was curious, can you have like 50 people use a shield gen’s shield in succession 1 after the other? Or does it have its cd tied to the generator?

I mean I always found/find it stupid you can spam ram skills in succession when people get on and off it 1-by-1, cooldowns should be tied to the siege piece in question not the player using it. I mean a player next to 5 cats should be able to man and fire all 5 in succession if they so choose, only wait time being the one it takes for the first cat to come off cd.

That literally had nothing to do with this conversation……we could easily flag that as advertising since u added nothing to this thread other than a link that leads to an ad.

But I stand by my words. This isn’t spvp or pvp or controlled fights…..anything goes in wvsw. If you are still playing ‘fair’ in this meta and something like 1 missed dodge is the thing that kills you enough times to cause complaint…..you got alot of thinking to do.

I mean you should be able to dodge killshot just by seeing the projectile….its thick and it moves really slow. Just study it a few times, plants you inplace too (something riflers dont do alot of), if reactive play is what’s important to you and what determines ur fights then you should be reading the projectiles/attacks as much as you read the player animations that cause them.

Cause there’s a solution inplace already for people that have issue seeing them….I already stated all of this. Please see my original post.

I’d be happy to admit when I done wrong by a forum poster. My opinions have not changed with the evidence presented thus far. Ur skirt problem though….I mean I validated that problem, I ain’t gonna sit here and tell you its fine, it could be looked at.

Give desert bl to the winning team…..not the 3rd place team. Problems solved. Honestly I think the problem with desert isn’t the map designers or the map itself, its the game designers.

What does desert mean for your bl:
-No bloodlust which means doing less damage and less ppk than the other 2 bl.
-Long walking distances, making defending paper objectives neigh impossible. This means putting LOTS of resources into scouts and guild upgrades (lots of guild upgrades are gonna be spent if you are sincere about defending desert…). Its gonna be tiring work for your people, its gonna mean alot less players for fights, and gonna cost everyone alot of gold…..its also gonna make ur main zerg do alot of walking and porting and running around.

Who exactly is the right borderland for this task? THE WINNING ONE OBVIOUSLY! They generally have teh most people, are the most blobbiest, have the most uptime and ppt/ppk……defies all common logic why they get an iron throne. 2nd place has to fight to become 1st and fight to fend off third place, they are surrounded on both sides! 3rdplace is the kitten grounds for all ktraining generally.andwhats the best place to ktrain with ur zerg? definitely not not desert.

I mean if you are scrapping the glicko and remaking wvsw and you want the 3 map system as it is…..give desert to the borderland/team with the most players on it! Thats a win-win for all sides if you can spread their blobs out more.

All ur other complaints are dumb though. If animation hiding is a problem turn on default models for all players…..problem solved. There are toooooooo toooooo toooooo many things in the game that cause extra particle and whatever effects that hide player moves….its part of wvsw. If you don’t like it you already have a solution available…theres rly no need for anet to address this farther.

I dont rly like the kodan tonics hiding dodging and what not either but its rly not a big deal in a sandbox mode like wvsw. If the difference between you winning and losing is something like that…. you are playing wvsw wrong, very very wrong.
