WW1 downed state analogy - pro power

I don’t know if you all noticed but we NEEEED a powercreeep. I will continue to advocate for a power creeep until the rez/downed state handholding kitten gets nerfed. People need to die when they are killed. Imagine world war 2 with downed state….good lord. Or even world war 1….the russians woulda won hard, blitzing machine guns en masse with their swords. IN other words the Germans would lose both wars right near the start, cause they never had the numbers. Being smart doesn’t get you anywhere near as far as manpower will, in the present wvsw.

Atm everyone is gassing eachother, cause they know the gas is a single cast long duration ranged aoe. ANd it will poison and hit anyone who tries to rez the guy that got downed, AND it will finish the guy who got downed by it on its own. Its a win-win. Also when you use gas you can fight in an ironclad set of armour….cause reasons!!!

The alternative is wearing polyester, carrying around a rifle, poking ur head over the trench, shooting some1 in the head, then having ur bullets absorbed for 1-2 seconds while he falls to the ground and enters downstate. Then you can finally hit him and fire at him again and finish him…..only he can heal himself so you have to use a bunch of bullets to interrupt and negate the healing. And if some1 else gets near and helps heal him you can fire all the bullets you want but you can’t outrace the speed of the heals with ur bullets. So you run over there into noman’s land with ur bayonet and try to hit them both at the same time by slapping them away from eachother. Then you aim ur gun at the downed one once his friend is off him, and burn an entire clip into the mud to finally get ur kill. Victorious, you reload and train your weapon on his friend, its their turn next. It comes as quite the surprise, but ur little performance has attracted the nearby machine gun and every other enemy a kilometer away. And while u lay there in downed state you see them rez the guy you killed, ur 20 second performance erased in a mere 5-8 seconds. Your wannabe zombie victim, grinning ear to ear, then flag plants you in obscene places. Pride, confusion, frustration, anger….whatever the feeling, you know one thing to be true…. that skybox sure is ugly to look at. Meanwhile ur commander is yelling from the other side of the trench “THIS IS WHY WE DON’T ACCEPT HEROES, MORON!”
That’s the present state of powercreep.

So you can either fight ww1 doing that to every one of ur enemies, jumping out of the trench and risking the inevitable ending, or you can just break out the medieval ironclad armour and throw gas at that enemy from inside ur trench, exposing only ur armoured hand for a brief second…..duck back under ur trench and listen to the screams while smoking a cigarette with ur buddies, watching ur fat cat commander laying around getting drunk, marveling at all the commendations command will bestow on him for the strategic genius behind his squad’s success.

tl:dr: Food for thought. Condi isn’t necessarily the problem. It’s just the scape goat of a solution. Then you wakeup one day and realize World war 2 is right around the corner.

Obligatory Baseline Fasthands Thread

I disagree.

One of the few things propping up core warrior right now is the ability to run strength and the discipline line along with defense.

Beserkers are forced to choose: do they want more damage output (strength), or utility (discipline). Making that hard choice is good for the game and levels out fights between core and elite specs. Having to make that choice IS the trade off for gaining so much from your elite spec.

You dont need to get even more stuff for free, and god forbid a core warrior should actually have an advantage over you in a fight.

Just another attempt to push the elites even further ahead. Core warrior gains choice for the huge losses by not taking the elite spec, that seems like a fair trade-off to me.

This is 100% true.

I think though that what the others are saying is that classes, like the warrior, feel alot more immersive and less tank controlled when you have fasthands. And I fully agree with this.

Gliding and Territories in WvW

Let’s be honest here, the community made eotm what it was. They said something like: “wvsw is really unfair and not meaningful to us, lets dig through the mode and see what we can do to change this”
And the eotm community was developed by these people into a mode superior to wvsw.

You are punishing people for being proactive and finding the fun in a broken gamemode.

Like I said, BRUTALITY!

Out of all the maps (if we exclude the modes they are allocated to) I think its fair to say that eotm’s map is the one where gliding makes the most sense and would be the most beneficial. Besides it would have been the PERFECT beta to test gliding out first.
But once again the dev team finds the illogical in the logical. You ever gone hiking? Ur like that guy who goes offpath everytime there’s a somewhat flat ‘path’ branching to the side, only to find the brush getting thicker and thicker. At that time you realize its not a real path forward, its a path that leads you in the wrong direction that leads you to have to backtrack.

Please enlighten me to an ‘update’ during this “beta” where this DIDN’T happen.

Gliding and Territories in WvW

What in the hell?

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF YOU ARE IN COMBAT? Disable in combat gliding. Otherwise it means anyone can run away from a fight by just gliding away and literally makes HoT Pay-to-win. Seriously. It NEEDS to be disabled to deploy gliding while in combat. Seriously. This is why gliding in WvW has always been the stupidest idea.

This is such a silly statement. If your enemies decide to run away by gliding, YOU JUST GLIDE AFTER THEM !

At some point they have to land since it’s not true flight.

Your statement is even more silly because you can only glide if you own the territory ;^)

“If you enter a territory that you do not own while gliding, you will be kicked from your glider.”

AND lets not forget that being able to ‘MOVE’ a fight a large distance (via gliding in this case) means they can pretty much grab help from anyone remotely near them and/or lead you into a tower killzone.

If you could move a fight 3000-5000 units “presently” in wvsw, what would happen? They would abuse objective entrances/gaurds/pve/siege/terrain and basically take you to a spot on the map that is definitely in their favour.

The people calling things silly aren’t being ‘more silly’, they are being EXTREMELY MORE SILLY.

I think ur OP is a cool idea.

It could be buildable like you mentioned via blueprint, or possibly a new guild upgrade (not sure what slot would make sense, even a t1 slot makes sense).

Very creative thinking. It need only cover what is on and inside the objective. I don’t like the idea of them being placeable outside of objectives though. I actually don’t really like the idea that they can be custom placed to begin with. I would suggest they all clip to certain spots within an objective, maybe it puts an anetenna or dish of some kind ontop of the supply hut. And having 1 cover an entire keep is a bit much (and we don’t want people needing to toss 3-6 around a keep), thus the idea of making it a guild upgrade makes alot of sense to me.

Backward dodge rolling

you always dodge backwards when standing still. So the issue is likely ur keyboard, or the game, or ur lagg causing ur movement keys to not be registered for a split second, or more likely a combination of three.
Or Letoll had a good theory about the game registering you in a difference place than u actually are…so thus the directions get jumbled. Infact I’m inclined to believe that theory is whats happening since it applies to all sorts of movement skills.

I get the same issue with gs3 whirlwind on my warrior. My cursor is clearly placed ontop of my player (not on em) in the forward direction…and for whatever reason it sometimes shooots me backwards instead.

Changing ur keybind for dodge may help. If you are double clicking to dodge….DONT. bind ur dodge key to use mouse wheel click. So u need only compress the mouse wheel once to dodge.

Its more EASY pve and story content. Buy the expansion if you want more of the Ls3 maps/story, you will enjoy it. That’s the only reason to buy the expansion.

UNFORTUNATELY anet doesn’t have to do anything for wvsw to make you feel inclined to buy it for the sake of playing wvsw. And that is because of the new specializations they will force on all modes automatically.

Also keep in mind for WvW/PvP, Anet confirmed that they will not hold on to updates for expansions. The updates to those modes will be released as soon as they are ready to.

I don’t know why they announced that. Are we supposed to be happy that the current stream of updates won’t be presented in bulk a few months later than their creation dates? In reality it tells us there is to be no update shipped with the expansion to the actual mode. Meaning no thought was given to wvsw when designing the expansion content. And given their need to ship copies of the expansion, with the history of hot release, we know that the new specializations will be made overpowered and replace existing builds in damage/tank/sustain/mobility if not more categories. And we know that they don’t make wvsw specific changes to combat abilities, and that its the same as what we find in pve.

Given that the expansion will include 0 wvsw updates, coupled with the complete failure of the ‘beta period’, their love of pvp specific ability/balance changes, and inability to provide wvsw specific ability/balance changes……. it is safe to assume that no thought was given to the effect these new classes will have on wvsw. So expect a RANDOM kittenstorm where OP things tussle together to create a new meta that will be anyones guess as to what it looks like. Expect alot of classes to become completely irrelevant/dwarfed moving forward. Could even have a meta where just one class is chosen and spammed enmasse.

It further means that the updates we have seen in this ‘beta’ period will continue in the fashion they have previously….
Anyone paying attention to the supposed updates should be feeling the opposite effect as to what this announcement probably intended to.

Besides the more they update things the more of a mess they make…having a few extra months before the next disaster would help the community die slower. They shoulda held onto content for expansions. Furthermore it would allow them to actually plan and think out what they end up releasing. Atm it feels like they randomly visit the mode every month and think up ‘one thing’ they can make/change and implement in a days time. I still remember their one change of changing the score points from 123 to 345 or whatever it was. And they announced it as a 1-2 months thing. They inflated the values of all the scores, and wrote it off as their update for the next 2 months. Since at the end of the first or second month they just reverted it….and that reversion was the next month’s ‘update’. So much troll going on here its not even funny. And most of the community bought into updates like that. I still remember being completely flabberghasted that people who I and others explained it to COULD NOT accept the thought that anet made a change that sought to complicate the scoring in order to trick people into thinking winning their next skirmish would close the score gaps since it gave a rly high number!

I realize how NEGATIVE this all sounds, but I mean its true! This stuff happened….and I for one can’t just forget it and look to the future when so many elements are pointing to a repetition of last years failures. I’d like to say I hope I am wrong…..just there is little hope to be had atm. So I guess to a positive outlooker that translates from “I hope I am wrong” to “I am wrong”. Cheers to you if you can think that.

Warrior in wvw in trouble

? I don’t see any class problem atm with warrior in wvsw. Our sustain still a bit too good is all when u stack heals/invulnerabilities and especially rousing resilience makes u godly on a trailblazer/dire build. Still issues with the class itself being all tank controlly, which noticably affect performance but that only needs some tinkering to fix.

The solution you want is gonna involve adding aoe to the class. And I don’t like that in my classes.

-You can be the zerg sniper. Just go gunflame full power and blow kitten in their bunker guardians, especially useful against the enemy commander if he is relying on blocks to mitigate most of his survivability.

-you can be a bunker dire/trailblazer user with bow+mace/sword or bow+mace/shield or sword shield. Just max ur condi damage and duration and spend everything else in rousing resilience and toughness/vitality

- you can be a classsic melee warrior. greatsword + something/shield. I don’t care if hammer is on the metabattles as a viable weapon it still SUCKS (why bring a warrior with hammer when you can just be any other class and do what hammer does and more). u get to run full zerk or marauder gear.

-banner is still….good for what it is. I mean mbe it makes more sense to have 5 people wasting 1 utility on1 rez ability, who provide all the ohter things warrior cant to a group….rather than 1 warrior with just 1 banner.
-for great justice IMO is a great ability now that it was buffed so much last time. It actually looks op statwise, I use it even as a solo roamer just on myself……since its better than frenzy is by far even when ur just talking about 1 person application….times that by 5 and ur got a clear clear winner. I understand that its just giving might and fury tho which are readily available by all other classes….but its still great even if it isn’t class specific.
-ummmm other than that…..we don’t really have anyhting else we bring other than phalanx strength but thats a tricky one since its radius is so small to begin with, i dont find it useful at all in wvsw fights tbh.

BUFF OFFHAND MACE! lol srsly its so dumb in wvsw. mace 5 is our only 6 target ability, and one of the few 6 target abilities in the entire game but its just so…..lulz. Make it 10 target and mbe some1 will use it

You all ever stop and think that maybe servers aren’t open and closed because of wvsw? Maybe it infact has nothing to do with wvsw. With megaservers running pve, you might think that doesn’t make sense for them to be open/closed independent of what happens in wvsw. But maybe we are missing a piece of information here.

Shield Gen Minimum Range

Guys ur arguments that siege is a crux is valid, and so is the opposite argument. But admitting that siege is a crux presents a new array of problems, mainly the lack of any balancing in terms of server population.

Building the mode around that fact would mean enforcing that 75% of all battles are unwinnable for one side against the other. The mode itself would become niche.

Anet has refused to go that route, and has refused to properly balance the servers/teams. Meaning that the gamemode falls on the idea of counterplay. And for counterplay to exist vs shield gens and large vs small forces, things like shield gens bubbling themselves need to be remedied.

So really it doesn’t matter how you think the game should play. This is how the game has to play to ‘work’. Its broken in the current state.

The combat mechanics themselves are HEAVILY swayed in favour of the larger groups, so much so that most engagements will lead to 0 casualties on the blob side and 100% casualty rate on the lesser blob regardless of what the lesser blob does. But that is only “if” the lesser blob fights the larger blob. So the mechanics would then switch to being where the larger blob isn’t and routing multiple objectives mapwide to take advantage of the fact the blob can only be in 1 spot at a time. But the objectives themselves are setup so they cap significantly faster the larger the force u field in battles. This makes play for one side impossible from the perspective of “siege is a crux”. One side winning regardless of what the other does, doesn’t make for very compelling games. Infact in most games if the matches are unbalanced in any way most people refuse to play! They Just outright refuse to play!

Well they created partitions in wvsw last expansion. You could barely stay competitive if you didn’t have the masteries, most vanilla builds and classes got completely scrapped. You’d be lucky to find 1-2 vanilla builds that were worthy against the new masteries.

And they added shield generators and hot specific loot/consumables that made a huge difference in ur ability to play (food, utility). And ur forgetting shield generators. When those were shipped they were very very powerful with no disablers there and no diminshed stats.

SO yes, they do ship buyable content in wvsw….the problem is the pricetag on the content is a full price release! You need smaller buyables that offer utility rather than blatant incombat advantages.

I expect the same thing to happen in the next expansion. And I expect them to potentially gate existing content behind the new expansion as a way to sell copies (something else they did with hot, it was limited to pve modes like fractals though thankfully).

[suggestion] Bigger Commander Tag

This should be a ui option if anything. It should never be forced on players, the tag is already really big if you are the one commanding…making it bigger is just gonna be more annoying for commanders.

If anything there should be an aura toggable in the ui, something called “commander aura on/off” that provides a visual beam of light or something around the commanders (akin to the ctrl 1-9 symbol aura’s).

So in other words if anet looks at this thread it will force it on players and make the tags physically bigger…..cause they don’t listen to reason.

Do you really escort yaks though? REALLY? Cause you should realize that yaks that don’t respawn don’t give participation, and that “fix” doesn’t mention it being “fixed”. Its also an issue for guild missions since they won’t register for the mission.

An example is the yak going from dane to WC. If you don’t own smc it won’t respawn after entering wc. You will not get participation for escorting the yak 24/7, and you will not get participation for guild escort missions if you choose that tower.

Whoa whats the rush? Give them some time to properly narrow down the problem first.

This is a 6 year process that anet sometimes manages to do within 3 years. Its only been a mere 5 months since they admitted its an issue.

How do I report farming participation?

I went with ‘botting,’ though that doesn’t seem quite right. I have screenshots and account names but there’s no way to submit those in a report.

The person in question hangs out near east Citadel exit on DBL. There’s a pocket far enough back that the legendary defenders won’t aggro you. They run their alt out, kill them, then afk.

Can some1 tell me how I report Hypocrisy?

Why are you even caring or trying to do anything about it?
Its not a big deal…..it honestly sickens me that anyone would throw such a big deal over this.

Are you jealous? Is that it? You want a way to do it urself? get on a trebuchet and aim it at smc or something and put a weight down on ur firing button….or bind it to ur mouse button and hold that mouse button down (various eez ways to do it electronically/physically). There, problem solved.

You realize that every single one of these complaint posts will lead anet towards a “fix” that punishes actually players as much as fake ones, right? Were you here 2 weeks ago for the “outnumbered” fix? WE ALLLLL make less pips now regardless of how you play. How is that good? You want to make everyone feel miserable over an issue that doesn’t exist? very very selfish.

There is no issue to begin with! Its a stupid backpack you spend 16 weeks grinding for! Its not skill based grinding either, its just a grind. Why do you feeeel cheated? There’s no reason to feel cheated even if some1 gets it for free. You should feel cheated for bothering to begin with. Its no differnt than some1 paying through raids for legendary armour…….if they want something like it THAT badly let them have it, its not free in any way. It ain’t free for them to spend all that time taking advantage of the wvsw system either.

If you could make twice as many pips 24/7 in wvsw with an exploit that doesn’t affect ur playtime at all (like flipping a switch)….would you do it? YOU WOULD DO IT. Here we have some1 using the system in such a way where his playtime hours are the same as urs, yet its unfair cause he’s afk?
Hypocrisy abound………if the game isn’t fun don’t play it, if he wants to sit there and afk and pretend he’s having fun let him.

You might as well post an argument on how being able to give gold away is an unfair exploit. “OMG HE GOT GOLD FOR FREEE ITS NOT FAIR I HAD TO GRIND ITTTTTTT ANND HE DIDN’TTT!!!” -that’s all ur argument amounts to….

And what about the people with multiple alternate accounts? having alternative accounts to begin with and being able to use them in such a way as to benefit a single account is EXPLOITATIVE. And yet its something that anet doesn’t enforce, and actually encourages in a number of ways through its gem store items and gamemodes like pvp.

Just get over it, you are drowning in a pool of hypocrisy if you continue down this path…you just haven’t noticed it yet.

They replaced Zojja tho with a very charismatic and much loved, if not most loved, character who’s name i don’t remember….LOL

Zojja doesnt have any plot points anymore. The old party is gone pretty much. The ones still around are on the chopping block now…so the more screentime they get the more likely they will end up like wounded logan or worse….dot dot.

The asuran arc is about the little asuran girl and her mentor arguing all teh friggin time. There isn’t any need to add a new progenitor or whatever like zojja when u alrdy have one in the mix.

I didn’t really care much for zojja to begin with. I love felicia day, but I find zojja’s character in and of itself is just really generic and bland….doesn’t give the actor any room to work with really.

Guard pull after going into keep/tower portal

Been a well known well documented issue for a long time now. Stab has limited effectiveness, but if you don’t use it you are at risk of being flung 3000 units into the air or living inside a wall/gate.

Another reason towards keeping stability relevant? Seems like something they won’t fix since thats a truth.

Decay: the best change to WvW so far

I’d prefer the cookie cutter balance stay in sPvP, WvW isn’t meant to be fair. Unrestricted PvP is what makes it fun.

Problem is the mechanics are too friendly towards already overpowered/unfair builds. We don’t actually need to address the unfair/overpowered builds to fix the problem though, rather how favorably they interact with the mechanics of the mode.

Mechanics:
-waypointing and respawns
-rezing of downed and dead
-guild aura/upgrades
-siege in general
-the npc’s in general

So the balance should be fixed by addressing how the differnt types of builds, aka power/condi/tank/glass/heal/boon, interact with the above mechanics.

So for example take the second tier of guild upgrades for objectives. We have hardened siege which only p rovides 50% damage reduction against power based attacks. This strategically is only useful on outlying towers where there is an active defense of some sort. It also has some usage against enemies that you know are going to ram the double gates of keeps (keeping that second oil up is a key to victory). The other option which is by far the best 90% of the time is iron guards. BOTH these mechanics only affect power users though, and condi attacks are exempt last I checked.

Combine this with the fact that condi attacks are aoe based and most of the structures in wvsw have chokes and spawns that are known ahead of time. ANd aoe are created in a way where they do much much more total damage since t hey hit more people and wvsw means tons of people per unit of area. COuple this with the fact that aoe in gw2 are just as, and sometimes even more, powerful than single target attacks.
Also consider the fact that condi users can do the same damage as power with only 1 stat, and the rest in tank instead of 3 in damage; pair this with the fact that most defensive siege is based around doing low-medium intensity aoe…….we can see that condi is presents build options that make you immune to enemy siege and defenses while making ur ability to capture objectives much faster with ur bypassing of iron guards and other stacking abilities….

I can go on and on and on….

….and we get a situation where multiple mechanics are favouring a single build style.

IN other words ideas like allowing us to apply bleeds, torment, confusion etc to inanimate objects like siege……was a bad idea since it just further tilted the table.

Wvsw isn’t complicated, but its a bit more complicated than the devs have taken into account in their planning

ALL weapons on war are joke now,they are way too outdated,lack utility and half of them are useless.

We can’t just fiddle with the damage values, we have to have redesigns at this point.

Greatsword and rifle are really the only weapons I feel can function in the current meta. Adding diffferent/more conditions or evades or little stuff to these weapons is enough to maintain their relevance.
The same cannot be said for the other weapons…..hammer is probably the poster child for just how outdated some weapons have become since release.

Remove Oakhearts or Remove Rally

For anyone who doesnt know oakhearts have a ton of hp, rallying off them is something you cannot do in downed state unless a ton of attacks/damage has been directed at them beforehand. They are also out of the way from any objectives, fighting near them is a choice.

This is clearly a learn to play issue. Did you get binded by their roots too? lol. Dodge 1 second AFTER they slam the ground and u will avoid the roots. You ever played on eotm solo? The ai and npc’s there are like oakhearts x2 in their mechanics…..it takes some actual thought and skill to take down the ai there unlike in wvsw. You’d be freaking out if they implemented that kind of ai into wvsw

i’d like the range of it to be a bit more predictable. im getting hit by them a mile away and the enemy seems to teleport backwards during the burst making the range more than 1500 (or so it seems to me). mbe its a combination of the other hammer ability alongside it…?

Just on its own its dodgeable but when paired with all these other teleportation things and the RANGE on it…makes it ridiculous at times imo especially given its spammability. Would like it to be less chainable with other abilities. I don’t want shockwaves randomly coming towards me without seeing the revenant’s feet on the ground swinging the hammer and doing the animation in full within the max range its suppposed to have.

Also alot of you are saying stuff like 2600 power without might….and u think thats alot? You think 70 or 80% crit rate is telling me u do alot of damage? you think 250% crit damage and a mere 2700 power w/o might is alot?!!? Thats nothing.

ya I only use it when I have no other source of stability in my build…that way its useful when it procs and you always know when its on/off cooldown.
its really just there to make builds that can’t afford a stability in their utility slots, viable….or for the sake of lazy pve builds u don’t have to put any effort into playing.
still great for vanilla melee warriors though if u get tired of berserker melee and its increasing nerfs.

I would highly suggest you implement the strength trait line into ur build if you are going to use Gs. Gs just doesn’t feel right without the endurance gain, dodge roll damage, might on crit, and the +20% dmg increase upon landing ur burst. I can understand you feeling it lackluster compared to rifle without the strength line (infact I agree it is lackluster compared to my rifle if I don’t run that traitline lol). Which means removing defense line or removing ur fasthands…..or just remove them both like I do and run tactics, strength, zerker.

I love greatsword. I think its by far the best warrior weapon and one of the best in the game if not the best IMO.

Damage wise its geared exclusively for power users so there’s no confusion on what kinda gear is viable to be used for it.

The thing thats great about the weapon is the synergy between damage, mobility, and sustain that it offers. Its really all these things together in a single weapon that is what makes it so great.

not only do u have alot of control, the greatsword feels like a solid extension of ur own body. That said…its balance due to its damage and utility nerfs.

Gs1 is just a basic cleave….it doesn’t offer much in the way of damage and the vulnerability it applies is rather worthless, its just there as a way to attack while the other skills are on cooldown.
Gs2….okay damage if u can keep the chain going till the end, otherwise its prettylimited
G3…..amazing damage, amazing sutain since its an amazing dodge. Unfortunately it is prong to lagg delay ALOT and it has a large activation delay taht you can get cc’d during
Gs4……great since it boomerangs backwards……it just loooks coool and feels amazing when you throw the gs4 and ur enemy dodges….only for you to use gs5 and get right in their face for a good hit and the gs4 comes back from behind lolol taht damage can be stellar since it can hit them all at once to beat their healing.

gs5…also great assuming it targets properly. great way to get away from people, its not the fastest way to get away from people tho and pretty much every class that ‘saves’ their mobility skills can easily be ontop of you again. Its really a middle ground in terms of mobility skills….its not the best or the worst but it does what is needed for the weapon to function.
f1……its….what it is. its not really a damage skill on its own which is kinda cool, it basically is a boon skill that gives you endurance, might, fury, +20%dmg, adrenal health. Thats what it is
f2……same as above except it give you damage as well….but teh damage is only good forpeople under 50% hp, otherwise its just setting up the boons that f1 is.

I think axe sucks compared to gs since it ONLY has the damage part and not the other parts a gs has. The damage is better on axe? Maybe…..but that doesnt make it a betteer weapon at all for me. I like axe on vanilla warrior, I just hate the f2 on axe soooooooooo much that I can’t even use it. Berserker really killed my love for melee warrrior overnight haha.

Decay based on location

I think this would encourage spawn camping. Since in theory the further away you would be the slower the decay added to if you kill someone your protected from decay for 10 min…

Spawn camping doesn’t exist in this game, because there are multiple routes from which to spawn and traverse the maps.

What you describe is a learn to play issue and balance issues related to blatantly unfair matchups (aka ur whole ebg corner is conquered and camped for 12+ hours straight).

Roaming has been being phased out by anet for a long time now. This recent attack isn’t anything new.

Be thankful that there are “ways” to get around it like shared participation. The thing with shared participation is it ticks rather slow and depends on how much the zerg gets done…..so it can replace ur participation and keep u gaining slower than as a normal roamer…so basically u wanna use it when you solo/group roam up past ur 90ppt mark. SO that’s a very specific way to get around the nerf….its difficult at times but it can work.

Commanders should be more liberal when awarding shared participation. Personally I’ll give it to anyone who asks…..even if they just sit there afk. Not enough people ask for it…so its always just sitting there usually with noone using it. I’ve never seen a decent sized squad where all participation slots were filled tbh.

Do Away With 1 Up 1 Down

This is the most foolish and misguided interpretation of 1up 1 down I have seen to date.

CONSIDER THIS: 1 up1down…has only been implemented ONCE so far.
It came into effect 2 weeks ago….but then we reset our pairings and those pairings and the opponents you got were based on “glicko”.
So the first week was determined by glicko. I don’t know what matchup you got the first week but we were with Cd and JQ vs MAG…and mag winning was determined within the first hour after reset. This kd was over 10 for kittens sake. On every bl they dominated. There was no change. So you want to go back to this “meta” that creates scenarios where the server everyone KNOWS is gonna win without even trying gets paired against people that have no way to fight back. ANd this would have repeated for multiple weeks until it went away if we followed with the glicko. Anet has NOT handfixed abnormalities in their glicko equation, and thus it has tanked HARD and it continues to TANK hard.

That’s what you want? OKAY. Cause I’d imagine some matchups it works! There’s gotta be 1 or two other there that it works soso for. But those soso matchups are pretty much stuck, cause glicko will not allow changups easily if not at all if you win/lose. SO winning/losing has no affect under old glicko that much is fairly accepted.

NEXT, going back to the start of my post…..we had 1 week with the new pairings THEN we had ONE INSTANCE of 1up1down applied! And we are awaiting the second instance tomorrow/friday.

So 1up1down has only happened ONE TIME so far. IF we accept the glicko as “god awful”, then it follows that 1 instance of 1updown is not nearly enough to get out of it. Its gonna take AT LEAST 3 or 4 instance of 1up1down before we can have an opinioin on whether it works or not.

Right now I notice on wvsw intelligence that MAG is tanking their score on purpose by just playing ONLY on ebg. They pretty much own all of ebg 24/7 and nothing on the other bl. This is no change from when the glicko was deciding things. Mag did this before, and they will do it again. It doesn’t mean 1up1down is flawed, it means the gameplay itself is flawed.

You are making a gameplay issue into an issue against 1up1down. And that is just plain wrong. It happened under the old system, and it will happen under this system. There is a need for ‘hand’ adjustment of certain servers like MAg to discontinue their abuse of the system. Outside of that tho…..it looks pretty good to me atm. People who usually got losing matchups for months will at least get some matchups they can win in between now. I think that makes 1up1down much fairer than the old glicko automatically.

1up1down means everyone will suffer some bad matchups until a month or so passes, afterwhich it will ‘spread’ the bad matchups evenly amonng ALLL WORLDS. So yes maybe u were on one of the few worlds that benefited from glicko more. Cause we all know glicko was biased as can be towards ‘certain’ servers. Its time you see the other side of wvsw, and share in ‘some’ of the misery. If you don’t like that….well then you are a very selfish person. And I would hope that this “eye opening” will have a positive effect on the commuinity in recogniziing the issues that have plagues parts of the community for years. Perhaps then we can unite against the real issues that plague the mode.

Or we can just not learn and giveup and post things like you did, making anet return to the old glicko. Them returning to the old glicko is easy for the devs. They have set themselves up to win here. If 1up1down is unpopular they will end it without debate in order to get brownie points with the community, it wont matter whether it fixes things better or not to them. Getting rid of it is a very easy way for them to pretend they are working on the mode and that they care. And this will buy them MONTHS more of gametime from many members of the community which is what they want/need to do….they want you to stick around just long enough till the next expansion comes. They literally stated this in the patchnotes a while back, albeit leaving out the intent and the expansion bit.

HEre’s an analogy for you then:
-you can have 3 candies now and the other people around you can have anywhere from 1-4 candies.
-OR you can wait 1 month and everyone can get 4 candies.
Idk about you, but i’ll wait a month since we all get more candies.

WElcome to the wvsw community…its like reddit except they actually play the gamemode they talk about. Making the discussion ENDLESSLY FRUSTRATING.

There should be more penalty for dying…..but you know you won’t find any worthwhile discussion here on it lol. We had this same discussion against rallying multiple members off single targets…..everyone seems to have such a short memory of that. MOST WERE against making it 1 rally per 1 target for the same reasons I’m seeing here.

It creates less fights? It would make as many fights as it takes away….and more meaningful fights would create more progression on enemy objectives which in turn would create a higher skill floor involving coordination and communication. Once you have that higher skillfloor you no longer need as many instant rez/rallly skills.

The community is very stubborn and full of the need to prove that they are not like pve players. So anyone saying anything that could be taken to be “you hate fighting” is perceived as negative….and the bandwagon takes over and people just lineup like lemmings and start voicing eachothers opinions. Why? cause it makes them feel like they belong somewhere.

This is why the community has no power over the gamemode. And this is why the gamemode will only get worse, not better, as time progresses. Its a community that wants change but is averse to trying change….its pretty hilarious to many other communities out there.

I’ll give you guys a hint here if you really want fights: Get a zerg together on comms, move infront of an enemy spawn….and enjoy. Endless fights right there. Oh but wait….YOU CANT DO THAT! Because some kitten out there said its wrong to do that lol.
Face it, everyone knows the unspoken rules of the game exist to keep the game from getting stale. Its frowned upon to fight infront of spawn because its fighting 24/7 on an endless loop. YOu would get bored of it too soon if you did it. But if fights are really that boring…and you are averse to changing the system to make them more meaningful…..well then you pretty much are responsible for whatever misery you create in the game lol.

This is why MAG and other ‘taboo’ worlds are so admirable. They change the rules to suit their own purposes. The fact it infuriates alot of you is just icing on the cake.

If you want more fights, you already have the power to create more….so don’t go forcing them down other peoples throats all the time at the expense of the actual gamemode, ok? Its ruuuude and selfish.

Suggestion: Tag Colours

I would also be extremely bad for us colourblind people. It’s already hard enough for me to tell some of the colours apart as it is.

The wvsw dev team’s decision making on tag colours has been terrible to date. They originally said no…..but now they’ve accepted it cause its a cheap way to keep people interested in the mode. The decision for tag colours DEFINITELY came from wvsw rather than any other mode. More tag colours is gonna make pve and other modes more confusing to organize and handle for multitag events. WE literally got 2 blues now….it just makes no sense.

They seem to just choose colours at random, without thinking of the implications of it.
Asking for an EBG system after we’ve gone this deeep into the swamp is rather reasonable and a good idea if this is the system they are sticking with. They have already shown an insensitivity to colour blind and other players in that bubble. Improving upon this system of insensitivity shouldn’t necessarily be frowned upon though….they are making their bad product better at the end of the day regardless of it still being bad.(im surprised you guys don’t comment harder on the targettting system I can barely tell who the hell im targetting half the time.

Tl:DR if they want to make a horrible system more sensible they should add RGB, or increase the pool to every colour imaginable if technicaly limitations.

Probably got reset again….cause wvsw devs are doing their job so well.

“Outnumbered is now applied each scoring tick (every 5 minutes). Swapping to a map right before a tick will no longer grant an Outnumbered pip bonus. Instead, you must play on an Outnumbered map for an entire tick to earn the bonus.”

This says that if outnubmered leaves the map at any time during ur 5 minute interval then you won’t get ur bonus pips.

This is rather hilariously ironic. It is literally the opposite of the other supposed problem LOLOLLOOL. “Zerg moving abuse” will be the next big thing for pver’s to whine about

Auto Loot Dosen't work on death...

Doesn’t matter Anet doesn’t update anything in wvw anyways good suggestions or otherwise so who cares. Not to mention I have no idea why wvwers would object to an update to auto loot that would result in getting more loot. Especially when all wvwers complained about for years was no loot/rewards…. but whatever lol.

This is one of those suggestions, where if Anet just changed it so you got loot no matter what every wvw would say, “we like this” or “good job Anet more loot” but because I’m suggesting it, it’s an absolutely horrible idea, for some reason which nobody can figure out.

I mean at best it’s more loot, at worst it’s irrelevant, but you know keep up the good fight.

People object because it encourages people to lay dead on the ground instead of releasing and running back to the fight.

right….. so loot auto going into your inventory = you are encouraged to stay dead? Im not seeing the connection. Seems completely unrelated to me.

I can’t recall ever playing a game where, when you died (essentially when you failed in some way), you still automatically were given every bit of the loot you would have acquired if you stayed alive, contributed to the fight, got ressed by a comrade, or used other mechanics (like WP) to rejoin the battle. Maybe I’m misunderstanding, but shouldn’t death have a death penalty of some sort? It’s modest enough, with the mechanics in place, but should it be zero?

Yes, I do believe that such functionality would discourage active play. “I’m dead. I’ll just lie here and gather all my goodies while I go order a pizza. Doesn’t cost me a thing to be inactive — I’ll still get 100% of the loot either way.” Does that even make sense? Or am I misunderstanding the suggestion?

Ya I mean right? The downed state isn’t enough of a soft cap on death already that we need auto-loot while dead too? Is good to see someone at anet draw the line in the sand when it comes to introducing more hand-holding mechanics.

Yes it is good to see them drawing a line. But for the line to be drawn THAT far back? It literally validates ALL of the kitten hand holding mechanics we have to deal with to date. And what do we gain? A promise that the hand holding won’t get worse than it already is…? lol…..look through the years of this game and you’ll see that is a complete lie.

Honestly I don’t think Gaile plays wvsw at all with a comment like that. IN THE SAKE OF FAIRNESS and consistency and LOGIC, the OP’s request is COMPLETELY reasonable! Are we all not surprised it doesn’t already exist ingame? I can’t be the only one caught offguard that my auto-loot sends my bags to my corpse rather than my inventory but only when I’m dead…? WHAT!?!?? Is there some kind of magic I actively cast while alive that empties a select RNG bag from all the bodies I ‘tap’? Is that what we are going for here? Is it really that far of a stretch that said magic should still be cast when im dead? Cause currently it ports it to my body, when im ded, by there’s some magic barrier preventing it from going into my inventory…SPOOOOKYYY MAGIC!!

I mean somehow I can port my body, while I’m dead, back to a waypoint and be fully revived no sweat WITHOUT COST and continue to get loot from all the things I tapped. But getting looot ported to my body and not my inventory bag while dead is just somehow impossible by the laws of this game? Some kind of magic that placed the loot ontop of my inventory bags rather than in them BUT ONLY when im dead….lol. ANd this is justified because……..its too hand holdey?

That way I no longer get scores of loot from all the things I ran into and died to. presently I can just jump into a pile of bodies and tap them all…die….respawn….and then up to 10 mins or so later get piles and piles of loot for their bodies should they ‘die somehwere’.
Why aren’t you advocating for this Gaile? This is something that makes sense if implemented, and does what you said is needed in games!

there is no difference dps wise. Just supply wise, and targeting wise….since they have a smaller hitbox.

If cost is no issue, run full guild siege. If cost is an issue….run basic, superior, and guild( but only use when you lack supply).

The centaur engie farmers yielded many times more loot and their ‘supposed exploits’ were handed out to the entire community to use. Ur wasting ur time if ur farming wvsw. Bonus for attacking top server

Op isn’t specific enough to say yay or nay too tbh. Incentive to get the losing team to attack the first place team…..makes sense.
But you would also need to get the 2nd place team to attack the winning team as well.

And what are those incentives that you should use though? Should they be incentives to increase the PPT, or incentives to increase the loot? Or both? Becomes a case of whether people are playing the game for the game or the game for the looot….kinda sad we have come to that point.

We HAD a great system that promoted this. The 0-0-1 scoring was great (1-1-2 they promoted it as). You had enough of the heavy weight zergs not liking it though cause it made their primetime feel less special (ur primetime isn’t special now either u fools)…..and anet listens to their specific test zergs so that became that.

SOlution could be something simple like: killing players from the winning skirmish grants 3 x as many ppk, killing them from teh 2nd place doesn’t give extrapoints, and killing from teh last place doens’t give extra points. This would make people attack those from the winning server more than the last place one. Would enable the ganging effect and keep the game balanced. People would naturally ppt the winning server as well cause of the pip system….no reason this can’t be implemented into the game immediately for testing. Extra pips could be awarded as well for capping the winning teeams objectives in some circumstances (1 extra for yak/camp, 2 for tower, 3 for keep, 4 for smc or something….sentries arent an accomplishment so dont give me that)

Since when does map hopping cause problems? If you know anything about this mode you should know how hard it is to get people off ebg to come defend important objectives in the borderlands and vice versa.

It makes the game play better if people are using all 4 maps. Why on earth would it make the game play worse? lol

You are obviously a pve player who came cause of the pip system. Pip system was designed for wvsw vets, not you newbies. Maybe invest some time playing the actual mode.

Who cares? If they’re just here for outnumbered pip farming they probably wouldn’t be in WvW in the first place, so just let them do it? Not like they are taking up precious space in an outnumbered map…

Say there are 5 to 10 dedicated defenders working hard to turtle in a keep against the enemy zerg. They were getting outmanned buff which they deserve. All the sudden, the pip hunters hop in the map and goes afk. This is actually happening in many servers. I want to see the outmanned buff rewarding those who have been actively participating.

Its funny how anet is the voice of reason here. THEY know you shouldn’t be playing for pips, and that the pips are just an extra reward with long-term incentives. That’s why they capped them per week, that’s why they made it take 16 weeks ‘just’ for the backpack. Pips are just extra reward/currency to be spent on tactics/wvswsupplies! You shouldn’t be playing just to help cover the costs of the playtime you played…lol. That’s why the higher ranked players make more pips, the commanders make more pips, and the dedicated server players make more pips, and the winners of each skirmish make more pips.
The outnumbered pip bonus is just meant to boost morale and normalize rewards in normally hopeless situations, and keep activity on all the maps so they don’t stagnate. You aren’t entitled to it…..

Could be an option in:
- skirmish chests…gives a 30 min writ in can form thats account bound.
-a new reward track that gives food/utility items and mbe wvsw boosters or w/e
-buyable for proof of heroics
-buyable for badges of honour

You can make them work only in wvsw and be account bound so they can’t be sold. Just SOMETHING to make them actually affordable ingame for a mode like wvsw.

P.S. you still haven’t fixed the supposed bug that allows you to use wvsw canned food in other modes….I mean its pretty obvious you don’t care about hurting the TP markets so why are you even hesitating at this point? When made available to the general populace in limited form they willl provide incentive for people to spend gems on utility boosters.

Everyone will have a good or horrible week next week with the new pairings, since they r based on the glicko. Then this new 1up1down system willl kick in the week after based on the results. The people who got a bad first week will likely get a good 2nd week. The people who got a good first week will likely get a bad 2nd week. Assuming they do the alliance pairings correctly/well we should see much much better matches than we have seen to date, after those 2 weeks.
Success is still based on glicko…..because they will use that to make the alliances for the 2 month periods. If the system fails…..its cause the glicko messed us up AGAIN as it has every week to date. No matter how well u make the matchups….it means nothing if all the alliances/pairings are nowhere near balanced with eachother.

If it works though, it will show that the glicko wasn’t completely idiotic all this time, and simply needed slight correction to function as intended.

u seeem to put dodges in the same category as elixir s and endure pain and all that jazz.

So what would be ur ideal then for damage mitigation?
Blocks? Damage reduction? Insane healing? resistance? high health/toughness pool?
Might be able to point u in the right direction for a build if we know more. I agree that invulnerabilites like elixir S and mist form and endure pain spammage are an eyesore. But I don’t believe that dodges should be put in the same category.

I mean my warrior build doesn’t use any endure pains or in-vulnerabilities of the sort mentioned outside of resistance. There are options is all i’m saying.

If you care at all about this mode you will give it your FULL support!
This is the real wvsw update we have waited years for (not me tho, i WOULDN’T wait years lol). The pip thing….the beta pairings…those all fail in comparison to this change.

Anet literally threatened to install the glicko back if you don’t behave. So plz behave and give it ur full support. There will likely be some horrid weeks at the start, but that is just the leftover gunk from the glicko being burned out of the system. Look to the future and stay supportive.

Dunno why they would make it live NOW…we are getting new pairing on friday no? And they literally said that when new pairings are made the glicko will reaffirm who is vs who and 1up1down won’t matter till after the fact…..but whatever!

Been pulled inside gates 2x so far by dragonhunters lately. They land the pull on you as you walk into a tower…..then it pulls you back and if you happen to be pulled toward the gate u get stuck in the gate. Then you get rekt cause ur stuck in a gate and a zerg is right there.

Almost lost a t3 tower because of this. I got inside and needed to pull the invul tactic to buy the zerg time to get here to save it……i get pulled into the gate after safely making it and get rekt. THANKFULLY i had time to return and go back and just BARELY made it before the gate fell (4% i think it was, 5% mbe). I pulled the invulnerability and it bought JUST enough time for the zerg to come and wipe them.

Reset WvW Ability Points [Request]

Guys stop looking down on newer players. It makes sense that they have the ability to reset the points for some kind of cost. Being able to reset on the fly is kind of a bad idea though since it allows people to just open their menu and choose what they need per the situation.

Allowing a reset every 100 ranks or having some kind of timegate or cost to resetting is a very fair request.

WHat would you think of the game if traits weren’t resetable until you hit lvl 80?

What would you think of the game if you only got to choose traits ONCE and then had to pay to get them reset?

These are fair requests, don’t look down on them.

just open them as you get them, why would u collect a stack of them before opening?
I got a lot of those and didn’t had any problem opening them every time I clear inventory

Why would you waste all that time clicking them open all the time? lol.

I stack all my stuff I get alot of in my inventory at the bottom of it. Means alot less trips to the merchant and alot less salvage work. Makes more sense to only have to click “salvage all” and “deposit all” once u amasss a large amount of items…in this case ur amassing months of items instead of doing multiple more months of clicking “salvage all” and “deposit all”

Anyways there are tons of benefits to keeping ur skirmish chests atm.
a. they might add new items to them
b. you can potentially sell them to guilds
c. you can donate them all to ur guild at once for status/powah.
d. can use them to give ur guild a good reason not to kick you
e. you can use them in general to showoff how cool you are
f. you can just leave them there for an eternity and save u rself alot of clicking.

still running gunflame. The removal of power of the mists has lowered everyones max hp and made it just viable enough again. Still rly upset about the seaweed nerfs………hard to find a replacement food, I think I find something and I use it for a while….then I just get tired of it not doing enough damage…..so I switch back and forth and forth and back…not enough speed….not enough damage…..seaweed was just to perfect for me I guess idk. I’m just running through my reserves of seaweed atm, at night at least I can live up to my former glory with it…..during day tho its just meh.

3. Why not berserker with strength? o.O. Core gs+axe(sword)/shield is the only none berserker build still viable. but it has its limits.

4. run scholar if running berserker. Strengh if running vanilla. Or something entirely differnt if running condi….like krait or whtever really.
