Rifle’s base damage, just from auto attack can hit upwards of 5-6k.

Warrior, a class having ample access to invulnerabilities, and damage mitigation can afford to go full “glass cannon” and remain tanky.

In my recent time of playing my warrior and abusing gun flame the past month, I’ve never had a single shot blocked randomly by a terrain…unless it was an obvious LoS (like a wall).

It’s target based…meaning, it’s skill-less. It does NOT require a set-up and it most certainly does not require to be skill shotted.

An unblockable attack CANNOT be blocked, nor reflected.

Using another skill-less build from another class to justify a similar one is one of the worst arguments one can use. It makes you look terrible.

You must main and LOVE your warrior A LOT, while being incapable of playing it properly, if you’re sitting there trying to defend a skill-less build this hard.

Character height plays NO ROLE in obstructions. The heights of characters is irrelevant in that aspect. It does however play a role in the opposition being able to tell your animation because of how much harder it is to spot on a smaller character.
Please…do not comment when you do not know what you’re talking about.

1. Ummm no…..you didn’t read at all properly. A rifle’s AA, aka rifle 1, can hit upwards of 5-6k ofc if you build properly. A base warrior….. with base power values does crud damage with his rifle…..not 5-6k….(https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fierce_Shot..i dont see no 5-6k in there do you?). The base values of the rifle itself before you factor in power and coefficients is crap….thats what I said and you tell me these values hit for 5-6k? anything will hit for 5-6k if i stack all damage values i can in the game, you are not even reading the thing you are responding too properly.

2. ample access to invulnerabilities, damage mitigation!??! What? did you not read earlier? a Gunflame getting 20k hits will have, at most, a single endure pain/berserker stance. An endure pain that lasts 4 seconds, a berserker stance that can be stripped per 3 second interval. Warrior don’t have any built-in damage mitigation. They have heals, they have invulnerabilities. They dont’ have access to protection or anything like that. You obviously no nothing about the class.

3. Well lucky you! Are you sure you were playing a warrior though? Coulda fooled me with this level of knowledge you are displaying.

4. targettting is skill-less? Sure, you try telling that to som1 fighting a zerg with a rifle. This is wvsw, not hello kitty kitten duels.

5. Yes an unblockable attack cannot be blocked or reflected……rangers have pets…..guardians can lay traps……mesmers can use portals……confusions causes more damage on skill use. Throwing in random facts isn’t gonna save ur argument.

My skill level has nothing to do with my argument. Your skill level is apparently the cornerstone of your argument though. Your experience though has already been discredited by the number of false things you have said thus fair. invisi = invisibility…warriors don’t have this on their own, and the ones that do have it are using the wrong runes.

That rifle ability has the largest telegraph and takes like 30 minutes to fire, it’s fine, dodge it.

0.3753s cast-time with quickness, which is readily accessible the instant you enter Berserk.

Your ‘30 minutes’ and ‘largest telegraph’ is nothing but one of the WORST exaggerations I’ve ever seen in this game.

Its actually not much of an exaggeration. Rifle is an extremely slow windup weapon that does horrid base damage. Getting the 20k hits is a case of investing every little point possible into power and damage. Its all projectile skills as well……in wvsw i cannot tell you how many times the rifle willl fail to fire, put itself on cd, get blocked by invisible terrain, get blocked by slightly uneven terrain, fire in all manner of crazy directions etc. Its target based too….no target, no hits.

You can have 0 skill and still double dodge when you see them light up red…..dodging the killshot (90% of the time the warrior opens with it). The quickness is only 3 seconds duration, when all warriors light up from berserker mode its always a good idea to dodge regardless of the weapon.

If you just apply the: dodge when they light up red, and dodge when you see them casting….its really quite dodge-able (whetehr through evade/block/invulnerability/whatever) compared to everything else in the game.
Just go practice against a warrrior in pvp or soemthing. Once you see the tricks…..its easy to fight them.

They are nothing compared to zerker mesmer bombs lulz…..and those guys can plant those out of nowhere from stealth.

true, the tradeoff is they to jump alot of the time to avoid losing their shots to the terrain. and you cant cast while in the air….so you have to proc ur attacks and THEn jump……it can lead to alot of missed shots/casts.

And you don’t duel with gunflame….lol, ur doing it wrong if you are.

I’m just taking an impromptu poll here on one of the meta forms of zerg (more so 10-20 player) combat, on a term I’m coining:
“bubble wars”

Do you like them….or do you not like them? SImple question that I seek you to answer in this thread.

What the kitten do I mean by bubble wars? Well you know how classes, particularly guardians, have giant aoe domes/wells/shields/spherical things/walls that they can place to block all incoming ranged fire? And you know how classes, particularly guardians, have giant aoe cc abilities?

And you know what happens when you combine the two of these techniques en masses in a group against another group of players?
Its basically: your group becomes immune to ranged fire, due to placing 1 or more bubbles infront of urselves. And when the enemy closes into cleaving/melee range you activate heavy aoe cc pushing them out of attack range and back outside ur bubble. The combination of this with aoe heals and aoe rezzing abilities, and basic downed state shenanigans creates a fortress of solitude of sorts. Not to be mistaken with the shield wall: a bunch of tank/boon/healer guardians piling ontop of eachother in manly fashion.

So going back to my original question: Do people like this? Do people not like this? What kind of player are you, and why do you think you hold the opinions that you do?

Honestly don’t care, Necro aren’t very strong compared to the other classes….not in roaming and small group fights anyways. They are actually one of my favourite classes to fight…..since they are easy to stomp (resistance OR stability ALWAYS works on the first go), they don’t have kitten unfair downed abilities, they don’t dodge a million times, they don’t stealth, they don’t port away, they don’t move fast, they don’t kitten heal everything around them instantly, they have a shorter range and can be kited without too much pain, they don’t abuse the ooc system.

HOnestly I’d call them one of the poster child classes of the game. Everyone else is battling it out in the battle of the OP vs the OP….nice to have a class that doesn’t rely on such gimmicks (their freeze ult is one of the exceptions tho).

Just my thoughts….don’t shoot me for my lack of care for the zerg meta…not that any zerglings can aim.

Gunflame interrupts not proper damage

Srsly go to wvsw and look at all the times you get an interrupt hit on your gunflame. The damage is always half of what it is otherwise (do it with 100% crit rate if u don’t believe me). Its acting like I have weakness on me and its giving me a value congruent with what weakness would give.

Easiest way to test is on camps guards or sentries. or a player if they are willing to help.

This needs a fix soooooooon. i alrdy made a ton of threads mentioning it, so im making a ton more.

why not just run strength and force runes on everything?

I’m assuming you meant strength runes and force sigils. Just calculate ur normal damage output over 10 seconds or so with an air sigil. Then calculate what an extra 5% of your normal damage yields, and compare that with air’s 3 procs damage.
5% of a 10k hit is 500 damage……hitting with lightning though is gonna net you 1-2k damage if it procs. It should be easy to see how in pvp and spvp, where bursts and every hit possible really count, that air is a better choice. air also gives an extra adrenaline proc…..so 3 extra adrenaline every 10 seconds.

Then you have other options like fire. Why is fire viable? cause it can proc 4-5 adrenaline on a multi target hit. It only does like 500-1k damage, kinda like force does. but thats still a potential 5×5 = 2500 damage and 5 adrenaline procs vs just 500 damage when you do a 10k hit on some1.

Really, by that logic fire and air are always superior to force in specific situations except when you aren’t criting or when you potentially are in a specific situation where you have perma quickness and are doing rapid hits on a target that isn’t avoiding them.

So look at what specific situations you run into the most, and which ones you need the most damage for…..
Air is always the safest option of the 3 though.

To my knowledge this was a PvE thread, not sure why PVP was brought up (rune choices in PVP are vastly different, but yes often include air if you’re running a power build).

Anyways no I didn’t mean Strength runes and Force Sigils, I meant Strength Sigils vs Air Sigils. You’re right that on a 10k hit you’re going to net 500 extra damage with a force sigil whereas an air sigil will net you a 1.1 damage coefficient based on unarmed weapon strength of 690.5, which is somewhere between 1 and 2k. However that proc is only every 3 seconds on crit. But with your average zerker meta build, every hit should crit, so assume every 3 seconds you’re getting a little over 1k hit. Now also assume that with your average meta build you’re pushing a little over 20k dps with realistic buffs and rotation (not hard to maintain). Meaning force should be a bonus of roughly 1k dps to Superior Sigil of Air’s 1k ish (lets say 1.5k for the sake of math) spread over 3 seconds, being 500 dps. Using this logic, I’d wager it’s a safe bet to run force/strength sigils on both sets UNLESS you don’t need help with might (rev in party for example), in which case then you’d want to run force and air.

pve was never specified for this thread (look through it). but ya if im cleaving 5 silvers in a corner with my gs then lightning is gonna be inferior to force…it only hits 1 of the 5 and im landing rapid successions of hits over an extended period of time.

First: +1 hydromacy, go earth (or whatever its called) if ur running condi
Second slot: Energy sigil or on-kill-stack sigil like bloodlust or corruption or that healing one (momentum is for idiots, precision is generally a waste)

What infusion…? Well since ur asking in the wvsw forums…..the wvsw offensive infusions I would say are best for the majority of roles. If you are a heal k*tten go for healing….since u want to stack as much healing as possible in ur build. Not the precision ones though….unless ur a thief or something lame like htat.

100b.. getting old?

You guys think up the weirdest things.

Worth mentioning is the other issues with 100b. With quickness, unless you finish it with quickness on for the entire cast you don’t gain any real benefit. 100b also doesn’t always proc where its supposed to proc when dealing with moving players. I can use gs5 for example, down a player, and immediately gs2 and it won’t hit the enemy even though its cleaving through them. other times gs5 doesn’t even take you to withing gs2 range …which is lulz tbh that gs5,4,3,1,f1,f2 can all hit the enemy but gs2 is too short ranged to, especially when gs5 is the thing designed to automatically move you to the enemy and combat range.

I found it really dumb and confusing so i switched it off to normal. Like why would the enemies be green dots…..so confusing. It made my tagetting all wonky too….idk if its just the change or the fact targetting has always been wonky but it was better when i turned it off. Now my targetting is back to horrid, but at least its not wonky.

Removing exploits through tonics and cutting out abuse of unintended movement advantages are more important.

Maybe your post should mention what exploits specifically and what advantages they bring to the table. Most of them have been removed over the years at the expense of the playerbase. There aren’t many left to complain about, and the benefits they provide are irrelevant in a mode like wvsw where you have so many unique buffs/stats you can be running.

I mean next thing we know people are gonna want wvw gear to be standardized like pvp…..you need to draw the line somewhere.

So tell us where you want the line drawn swagger. Where is the line gonna be and how do you justify it being where you want it? If you want it at tonics being disabled you need to address standardized gear and any other similar instances where the fun of many might adversely affect the fairness of another’s fight.

The remaining buffs of tonics are completely irrelevant to zerg warefare and the mode in general. They only have a noticable impact on 1v1 fights….and its still minuscule compared to all the other buffs you can bring into a fight. You should know 1vs1 fights are on anet’s “I don’t give a kitten” list……so how do you justify making these changes?

You might as well put “I want all gem store items removed from wvsw” in your title.

Be aware of the new reward track +/-'s

You get 50 berries.
From ember and the bloodstone u get 50 wood and 50 ruby.

As we can seee below from the links…you need significantly more berries than wood/ruby to buy the same types of items (you even spend more magic on alot of them).

So really if you are doing the reward track you are doing it for: the special skin (not the berries) which is a one time thing, you are doing it for berries to buy the special skin of the backpack, certain mini, to buy an ascended breather, berries to help you attain the achievements in pve, or berries to purchase some of the food items (which honestly might be worth it if you consider the cost of a berry to be 7silver…but we don’t really know yet).

So if pve doesn’t interest you and you don’t want the special skin, don’t use this reward track.

honestly I think its a bit unfair that we don’t get 75 or even 100 berries from this track. But its gonna be justified through the diversity of the items you can get. Just be aware of where it rips you off.

Pay to win - it has taken over

Being better at wvw is dependent upon having more money……WHAT?

This made me imagine having Guild reward tracks, where the whole guild worked together on it, the tracks could reward WvW upgrades.

Now that is a good idea worth exploring. I didn’t touch on it in the OP but obviously there’s the fact you can be totally new to wvsw, have 0 gametime, and have all these upgrades and buffs are your disposal right from the start…..cause its all gold based. Being able to offset those gold costs with this guild reward track or guild actions in general done in wvsw….well that seems like a no brainer. Its definitely something that should have been considered and still can be considered moving forward.

Have less sympathy for people on this subject. I watched a guild get built up over time to being fully upgraded by a group of five people. Five. Not a super guild. Did it take work? Yes. Why should it be easy and cheap? It shouldn’t, as it provides a lot of benefits, as pointed out. It’s not out of the realm of possibilities for small guilds. It’s not easy. So what if you have to put in work and effort. It’s not impossible. Being something that you have to work towards does not make it pay to win….it’s called working towards your goal.

Not to mention I’ve seen plenty of large guilds accept people from smaller guilds as associate members in order to use guild buffs without requiring them to rep or be held to the same rules as full members. If you don’t want to have to do the work on your own.

Everything has a cost. It’s called balance. \o/

i.e. The old ones put in alot of work cause conditions make it so they HAVE to. The new ones come along and they no longer have to do as much work so they might choose NOT to. The old ones feel cheated for doing more work back in the day and getting the same reward, so they shame the new ones whenever the new ones seek further departures from the fact.

That’s just selfish. Its very human logic. Lets not do that to eachother. Its unkind and unjust. Focus on moving forward.

You also missed the point which is fairness in general. The current model is not sustainable. You HEMORRHAGE money and have to balance playing the mode with FUNDING the playing of the mode….that’s not right.
I shouldn’t have to do 1 hour of pve farm to pay for every 2 hours of wvsw. I maintain that, in general, I shouldn’t have to do any pve farm to pay for successful wvsw playtime.
Your post seems to defend the practice of making losing significant amounts of money each time u set foot in wvsw.
Is wvsw supposed to be the resort or casino that you spend all ur hard farmed gold in? I maintain no, it should not be that. And i maintain that yes, it has been that to date. And I maintain that yes, it needs to be changed.

So many guilds get caught up in having large numbers chip in ‘donations’ for everything that they fail to see that they always lose money from playing wvsw. This definitely makes it manageable and noone really cares since you have so many people, some who might hardly play any wvsw at all, giving little donations so the vets don’t have to fork up all their loot and toss in a bag of extra gold after each run. It doesn’t make it right. Wvsw shouldn’t be the kind of gold sink it is atm. Time spent playing should provide the upgrades and other things needed to play effectively. Extra can be bought with gold sure.

I mean ur post right there said that the portable provisioner was WRONG. That it was bad for the mode and shouldn’t exist. You are saying that your hard work that you already did should be recognized and stay recognized and everyone else should have to go through it. Stuff like the portable provisioner which provides sustainable food/siege/utility practices goes against ur philosophy. So next time you comment please put in ur first lines something like “the portable provisioned was a terrible addition and should be removed cause it makes all my former unfair grind work futile”…cause that is what you said with ur comment. It would save us so much time in future discussions.

I don’t care what people say, it does crappy damage compared to all my other gs abilities. Its slow swinging, it requires multiple strikes, it plants me inplace, its 180degree directional, short range, long cast time………its honestly my least used gs ability in wvsw, even on downed/planted players. Takes so long to get damage off and if the enemy only stays still for 1-2 seconds its crap damage compared to a single eez quick whirlwind through their faces. Even if the enemy does stand still the entire time and takes it like a boss……its slowwwwww damage my gs3+F1/F2 coulda done faster.

Force shouldn’t even be a consideration for most of ur gametypes then. I would only stick force on when you want raw power and lightning isn’t applicable, or when u alrdy have lightning and need something to fill the last space (what i do).

If your group isn’t hitting 25 might stacks…..put strength sigil on ur gs.

Gs:
-Strength (shared might beats you having +150 power…..ur first proc gives 150 power amongst a 5 man group afterall, 5×30)
-Air probably (im not sure but it might proc might from strength and/or greatsword trait or food, definitely want it if it does).

Offhand:
-bloodlust (or whatever on-kill sigil)
-generally a sigil swap (hydromacy or earth for mobs) if ur offhand isn’t doing the primary damage. Otherwise get what ur group needs most. If you needed more tank for example (since ur running shield in some of them) go for sigil of energy….that also does damage with reckless dodge. Or a leeching of some kind or interrupt leech…you have many options depending on how u play. Speed run groups……you should probably just look online on metabattle or elsewhere and see the kind of sigils they run and copy them where needed.

ya even with the info u gave i can only give vague general recommendation still haha. check out the build editor and run through the sigils, look up any of the wiki u don’t know about if you haven’t already. there isn’t much option for direct damage though unfortunately.

It doesn’t it makes strong sides stronger and weaker sides relatively weaker. What they should have done is reward servers that capture T2 and T3 keeps more points purely for capture but keep the PPT the same.

Its another change that shows they don’t truly think all the implications through.

Ya that’s a fairly smart conclusion. I would like them to consider this after 2 weeks of the present changes……supposing they do have the effect you outlined.

Consider this kind of logic though:
We should approach ideas from the scenario that we have relatively balanced teams to begin with. From that kind of approach…..I understand what anet is doing here and im curious to see what it achieves.

I mean you can’t get a good change if you are always compromising every component of the change to meet existing demands….can we agree with the logic on that? Hopefully we can agree at least from a theoretical perspective.

Pretty shocked by this as well. Clearly not the right move.

I understand they want to reward defending, but this is not the way to go about it.

I also highly highly doubt the intent of this change was to reward defending lol. That thought honestly did not cross my mind at all when reading through the notes, nor does it cross my mind now. Sure it makes defending better, but it also makes attacking better…. and that kind of analysis doesn’t lead anywhere.

1. Number 3; Frankly the other ones are completely unacceptable.
2. calling ourselves by colour and a name that others would eventually have for their own is NOT okay. Edge of the mists stays in edge of the mists. Wvsw is not to be treated like a drop in and play affair with random people, its a family. Families live together in subunits all within respective countries. Don’t mess that up. Server pride is important. Its the only thing we got. Its what has allowed many to function amongst the winning/losing being meaningless cause of ur dumb glicko…..kill ur concept of glicko for good alrdy.

3. Mercenaries. Make the guest bl mercenaries. We can just be known by that name, its all we need. That way all bl will have mercenaries and not 2-5 distinct server names (having 5 sets of server names would be rly rly dumb). Mercenaries can streamline the third proposal changes, and allow special proper tags when viewed by enemies (ex: Mercenary Sea of Sorrows Gold Knight…for some1 from ebay). You alredy allow stupidly long titles/names in our nameplates so this isn’t asking much. You can streamline it even: Merc ______ Gold knight. Or lose the wvsw rank titles completely….they dont do much. Merc Sea of Sorrows and Sea of Sorrows players all under 1 banner against ur team. Its just as important that the enemy knows who did what. Heck I’d argue its more important the enemy know than our own team know.

Half the servers are host servers, the other half get to be mercenaries, everyone gets to have an identity. Kittens, if you had to choose between a host/kingdom or a mercenary group….which would you choose? Its not so black and white anymore. Presently the system asks you to chooose between: Real server or shamed renounced-name server that leeches onto anything in a desperate bid to stay alive another month….. Now that is very black and white.

My idea is the best to choose. It takes what you said in proposal 3, streamlines it, and still allows you to claim its ur own amazing idea. If proposal 3 is the most popular chosen in this thread, you should add the changes I proposed and do it.

My ideas are superior. The kittens need whiskers, so lets get them some whiskers.

Air Sigil swapped to Force?

force is bleh for most instances. if your are dealing very high numbers though in a sustained dps type role….it has its place. Thats why rifle was suggested as a usage for force since the hits are usually from 10-25+k.

Easiest way to think of it is count up the total damage you do (in general) during 3 second intervals or however long it takes u to proc air usually. If force is higher….go with force over air.

For run and gun pvp type fights air is better generally since you can’t do sustained dps on anyone of value. Its more tap here…wait a bit….tap there….type of fighting. And air is superior given its only drawback is a cd between procs.

Consider also the air gives an adrenaline proc. Really air is the safest bet if you just dont know, can’t go wrong with it atm. When you consider things like fire, thats when you consider whether force is a better option.

Also we dont know what you are running and for what u are running it for. Like whats ur other weapon other than gs? whats ur gear? those are all important things to consider.
I mean in most cases having 2 sigils of air on ur build is a waste. Most would put hydromacy on their gs if they are swapping to and from it enough.

Like I put air+force on my rifle and hydro+bloodlust on my gs. for what I do (wvsw) thats really the best damage combination for a spvp sniper build.

Not surprised they did it. They’ve already done it to many things in the game since the “BETAAAAA” started. The only things really still allowed are kites from the gemstore (not normal kites cause those can’t be bought with gems)…..hypocritical much? Soon even medpacks will be disabled for transformed players. And soon tonics completely will be removed if things keep on this track.
I miss using banners while transformed…i miss when banners were useful tactics……i miss many things but best to look to the future and see how many more things you ‘can’ start to miss.

Take all the fun and individuality out of the game…and justify it by claiming: IT WAS TOO CONFUSING TO THE NEW PLAYERS AND ITS BETTER WE STREAMLINE THE EXPERIENCE.

I think the problem was that people were having fun in WvW.

Careful you might get warned or banned lol.

They weren’t worthy components of the blob. Anet serves the blob. And the blob rights come first.

Are you part of a blob? Are you noticing that not everyone will join your blob? Anet has your back. This is how you make wvsw great again, never forget.


Most of us are tired and old as far as this mode goes.
The new blood….maybe the future belongs to them. Maybe anet is right and the whole experience should fall to new players rather than the old. It should all be streamlined into a drop in and out edge of the mists format.
Kinda sad when even anet wants you to retire your love and support.

Guild upgrades are very effective at what they do. And their usage is dependent on wealth.
Same with guild siege…..its dependent on wealth. They are wayyyy more effective compared to the others given how supply currently works.

The only guild oriented thing about this stuff is you need a guild with a large enough gold sink (one that has bought the stuff that allows you to create the upgrades). SOME PEOPLE ARE GONNNA MISUNDERSTAND THAT SO LET ME SPELL IT OUT: Guilds have to put up a large amount in order to craft an upgrade of a single type. I’m saying this “gold sink”, the crap leading up to the actual crafting, is the only guild related component. Normal players can afford to pay for crafting the actual guild upgrades, even the crafting is expensive though.

Everything is gold gold gold. Aura’s are gold, everything is golddddddddd.

You can afford better food. You can afford infinite time on those food buffs so they never wear offff. You can afford the best siege that uses less supply so you can place them yourself if you get 40 supply. You can toss upgrades on any claimed objective and reap major benefits to your capping/defending/roaming. I mean do you have any idea how effective watchtowers are? insanely effective. Fast yaks? insanely effective. precense of the keep? insanely effective. Emergency waypoints…….

How do you get this stuff?
By winning? by being good in the gamemode? by farming the gamemode? by winning fights? by ppting insane amounts? by taking core objectives in brilliant maneuvers?

Nope, you get them through money. GOLD.

How do you make money? DEFINITELY NOT THROUGH WVSW!!!
The goal of pve is to make money.
The goal of pvp is to kill people.
The goal of wvsw is to cap objectives.

Being better at pve is dependent upon having more money……THAT MAKES SENSE!
Being better at pvp is dependent upon killing more people….THAT MAKES SENSE!
Being better at wvsw is dependent upon having more money……WHAT?

Simple rule of thumb for those who think they disagree: If you had infinite gold, can you tell me without a doubt that your ability to play the mode would not change no matter what you did with that money (outside of bribing other players)?

More elaborate scenario for those that deny: Imagine if the entire time you aren;’t fighting. But rather just watching the maps. And placing upgrades on objectives as soon as able. If gold is no problem and you made infinite guild upgrades…..and everyone on ur team claimed objectives when they were taken……

What kind of power would you have if you did that? ALOT of power. You can kill enemy supply/movement with sabotage depot’s. You can put watchtowers, waypoints, all the other kitten that exists already, you can put all that up and reap the benefits. Just imagine a bl who’s camps automaticallly got fast yaks as soon as the upgrade slots were unlocked. imagine how insane that would be and how fast their stuff would upgrade with the invulerable yaks and speedy yaks. and imagine how easily they could setup beachheads in enemy borderlands with alll 3 yak abilities. Not to mention the cars…….those cars are seriously powerful! having as many of those as posssible is a huge plus for havok.

2012 wvsw yo. Custom christmas skinned npc. Nodes all over the map. Giant presents all over the map. combat buff for staying on tag. paying for repairs. No million waypoints everywhere. Not a million different types and variations of siege. Hardly any pay to win mechanics at all.

The albino is horrid. the colour is sort of there but it makes the entire character get this sickly grey glow to it. That’s not how a real albino skin should look.

Was thinking of making another type of warrior. Power glass cannon warrior I have atm. Power tank warrior holds no interest to me. So that leaves: condi, healing power, condi tank. Condi i only spent a bit of time with in pvp….wasn’t overly interesting, but it could be worked with. Was thinking the ideal would be a healing crazy condi warrior or hybrid celestial perhaps. Anywho lets focus on the usage of healing power in warrior builds:

So was curious is there was some kind of SUPER crazy sustain warrior that used healingpower stats. I already know how to make my power warrior crazy sustain without healing power….I want SUPER crazy healingpowerstats warrior or none at all.

Tanky power warrior with nomad or whatever doesn’t interest me either……mace/shield…..then gs or whatever = boring.

I don’t get why the white skinned asura isn’t available for players yet. All we have access to are grey…..brown…..black….and greeen. All those colours are ugly! Srsly ugly!

There are plenty of white skinned asura in the game. particularly the double ponie tail female asura in la and her identical 2 twins at the starting area in ember bay.

Would like a white skin colour option. My greeeney grey skin colour is killing my costumers….literallly. I can change to grey but it does little to change it.

How about powder keg sites to demolition walls and doors.Be funny as heck getting blown up trying to run kegs to a wall or door as people shoot at you.

I mean such a thing would explain all the responses so far would it not? Higher chance of the guild with the most people there being first since more players reping it. So thats why people would assume the most populous guild taking it gets first dibs. Also takes into account why the lone guy and his one man guild running in at the very end might get the claim. Also takes into account why hitting the lord first, doing the least damage, doing the most damage, being the commander, not being the commander….etc etccccccccc leads to unwanted first dibs.

The current downed state is fine… Let’s let the devs work on important stuff instead of revisiting stuff that’s working.

no its not. with the hot meta downed state is slowing down combat wayyyy too much. the time it takes top complete any small group fight is ridiculous for a mode thats supposed to be about taking castles, keeps, and towers. and you cant disrupt or stop a blob without relatively similar numbers largely due to the present system.

downed state IS the most important thing to fix. it provides ways for outnumbered players to fight. it keeps blobs from lowering the skill cap and making everyone bored of extended play. it keeps the mode alive by increasing play-ability…or replay-ability in wvsw’s case.

it keeps wvsw playable for everyone…i dont kno what is more important than that. new maps? more guild upgrades? more waypoints? making equal matchups while allowing open transfers? i think we’ve seen how these have been addressed, and the solutions r not there.

downed state affects everything in the mode except siege itself. prove to me otherwise. i dare you to try. adjusting downed state values and abilities is EVERYTHING to this mode.

tell me what these more important issues are and i will prove that modifying downed state, in some way, addresses it in a positive manner.

Since making any real changes to downed state seems to be impossible to do in a timely manner:

was wondering if maybe some basic changes to the downed penalty could be considered.

Consider that the downed penalty could scale based on how low your downed state % hp falls to. So someone who gets up from a rally/heal/instantrez will be penalized by the lowest % hp they had when downed. So say the lowest some1 reached was 10%, then the downed penalty could be something alot more significant, maybe even as low as 20% normal hp (rather than 75%). Certain thresholds could grant more inhibitors as well. Maybe an incumbered state could be offered for a few seconds for those reaching 30% or lower hp. The second time you are downed, you return to the lowest hp achieved in your first downed (unless downed penalty wears off). Instead of 25% less hp each time you are downed…..
This kind of system honestly would be more fair, even if we can scientifically down some1 60+ times in a row in a controlled environment. You have to consider the liability the downed person poses with being incumbered and having less hp or having other effects on them. Such a system is more fair than the current one, which 1 sidedly-favours the healers 75% of the time (25% of the time it favours the attackers).

So basically healing while in combat, can still be done easily, but getting the enemy up isn’t instant victory anymore. You have to baby the recently revived player a bit more…..and this is still very easy and possible to do regardless of the new penalties depending on your class/blob.

If anet wanted to go a step farther they could improve the instant rez abilities a bit if they did this, increase their range, shielding effects a bit more (i.e. search and rescue, war banner, guardian rev signet thing, engie gyro etc, guard bubbles).

Then rezing would be more give and take, rather than the current system, which negates any efforts achieved by downing an enemy.

A basic kind of re-imagining of downed state is warranted imo. So for example: its easier to get some1 up, but its harder to keep them up.
Healing downed state players while ur in combat should eat up more resources. You should be able to keep some1 alive like you can currently, but it ‘neeeeeds’ to take more work rather than casting a bubble and pressing f for 1-3 seconds to achieve a fully combat ready ally. We might even consider granting more aoe instant rez’es like the warrior banner does. A give and take system would be much better.

I think the benefits would apply to all 3 combat scenarios: solo, small group, and zerg warfare. The key for zerg warfare is inhibiting the movement of the zerg per downed player they revive. Getting bogged down and focus fired should be the penalty for zergs losing too many players to downed state.

Who cares what the wiki says. Maybe it is correct, I don’t care. All i know is the system INGAME isn’t working adequately enough. All my points made in the OP are STILL OUTSTANDING. Arguing whether the wiki correctly explains how the system should be working isn’t what this thread is about.

If you don’t have any problem with ANY of the points in my OP or any of your own problem with claiming, then I guess there is no issue? The wiki says theres no issue. I must be making stuff up!
But apparently some people share my experiences? More people making stuff up I guess….?

More piercing would be nice…..could always use more piercing. Rifle is a weird weapon tbh. Its decent-good if you go full glass, but otherwise the damage is horrid since the base stats are so bad. I think adding more utility to make up for the lack of base stats is a good way to keep it from becoming overpowered (ignoring how op damage reduction stats are atm).

I dont understand why brutal shot combined with warriors spring dosent break immobilization…isnt it a movementskill?

And it did with trait also.. if it doesnt anymore than its a bug.

95% sure it doesn’t break without the trait, if it did it was a bug (lucky you). I don’t use warriors spring in my gunflame build so I’d think I’d notice if I could break immobilize somehow outside of resistance.

99% sure it doesn’t break now, i remember using it when immobilized a bunch of time (not tree roots) and it just did my spin on the spot rather than throwing me backwards.

I could not have summed up your post better myself.

Some1 out there, feeling forgotten and disconnected, advocating to make the process of change allllllll about themmmm at the expense of others. Cause their playtime is just sooooo much more important than everyone else’s.

Unfortunately the forums are dominated by euro players, not american players…..start praying they don’t start imitating you.

You should realize that skirmishes solve the nightcapping problem and your post is offering ‘lesss’ not more for the “majority” of players who don’t happen to be you. The others above already went through most of the points. Like how anything close to 90% reductions in ppt score per map based on population is absolutely atrocious. How did you come up with a 10% ppt value…..just what!!!!??? Even basic arithmetic will show how few points you will generate from conquering the entire map….much less the points per person generated per person helping to take things. Try and put some thought into ur numbers at least…go on the wiki or something and look at how much ppt there is per map and take 10% of that….its NOTHING. People don’t play to distribute their forces evenly all over every map. And when u outnumber people on more than 1 map STILL. Or the enemy can just abandon a map when its too hard. Abandon ebg when they work hard to take it all fairly and they only get 10% of the ppt, pretty funny ideas you have.

We don’t need changes to the glicko, because that is not the root issue at hand, and we don’t need to deface the server-system, servers’ identity or turn to design intensive seasonal meta-guild systems.

All we need to do is to scale scoring and make it population relative

Warrior roaming build

I mean if its working for you by all means continue with it. It has alot of mobility, which is of value for wvsw.

If you want something with less mobility but ALOT more damage and tank….go for one of the meta builds. The meta builds are pretty standard issue for warriors. We all modify them a bit here and there for our own needs, but most warriors follow the same formula.

I mean its all relative. If you are facing opponents you can beat all the time with this build…..then the only reason to change is that you can kill them faster. But killing faster, if you maximize it, will lead you to a build like mine that has alot less defense than the norm/meta. Its just about figuring out how well you want to do this and that, and what you are willling to sacrifice in the process. If speed and fancy melee moves are important…..this isn’t that bad.

I still don’t understand what system is inplace, and how it determines which guild gets first claim on a new objective taken. Who gets 2nd claim….third….and why some people get no claims.
Can anyone explain that to me? Like ive had people say if ur closest to the supply cache u get it….if you have the most people in said guild you get it…..if you do the most damage to gates/walls/lord you get it…..or the guild that helped took that has the most people on the entire map or is apart of an existing larger squad that isn’t there….which if any of these is it? i highly doubt its the most damage one. and i assume its the most pop one.

More to the point of the thread though:

-Please make it so the commander and the guild they rep has first claim on an objective that said commander took with their squad. That is just beyond stupid that I can lead a group to take a keep and the guild I rep doesn’t even come up as an option. I did alot of damage to the lord. I didn’t cata though, but they were my cata’s i had prepped myself…..just seems dumb i don’t get first claim. Noone else had hit the keep for at least 30 minutes before I started prepping and then lead a group to take it.

-Please when there isn’t a tag, do NOT let some1 who already has a claim on something to get first claim. Prioritize guilds that took and haven’t claimed anything first. If some1 has a claim on a keep….they likely aren’t gonna take it off to temp claim a camp. its just really annoying and a waste of time sitting around waiting for the right guild to pop up that can place the claim without removing existing ones that you need inplace.

-Please allow guilds that don’t want to claim to cancel/waive their ability to claim first. So once an objective is taken….if guild 1 gets first claim they can simply x that box or something and that makes it skip to guild 2 in the lineup. Presently you have to just wait the full time until the guild you want pops up…..or it goes through alll the guilds and you can finally claim it with the guild that should have popped up.

Please allow these changes or similar changes. Quality of life changes like this are important.

A perhaps more sensible and easy solution, to situations where there isn’t a commander present, is to allow the first dibbers claim period to enact a free full objective aura. So as soon as a camp is taken for example, it automatically has +5 supply and all other aura’s until a guild claims and applies their own or until the first dibbers claim period is over.

I mean the best analogy is the guild that did none of the work getting first claim, claiming, and then boasting that they were the ones that did all the work. Its funny sometimes but that doesn’t make it fair. The enemy neeeds to know who was responsible!!!

i dont see anyone of value dying to this build. its just random stuff all over….with the only real defense being an emphasis on condition clear.

u emphasis toughness and condi clear. but toughness of that value aint anywhere near the power of a single endure pain.

and its a melee warrior without fast hands…..? and ur offhand is completely worthless for defense and damage. this is not a good build for competitive play friend. and in a group u wont need condi defense….you really only offer 2 blasts and that doesnt count for much anymore.

New Worlds

We could achieve more balanced competition in a world-versus-world setting if we had more pieces to join together with the World Linking System. It currently is not possible for us to establish an “equal” number of players on each link/world with the current world sizes.

Well then your solution is pretty simple…..do we really have to spell it out for you? Destroy the worlds, and redistribute the playerbase into equal ones. Its not hard…

There is no justification to not do it at this point.
-worlds themselves no longer have any point outside of wvsw.
-half the worlds have been deleted for a long time now with the mergers
-primary problem in wvsw is the lack of equality in each matchup
-primary problem in wvsw is the inability to advance through winning each matchup
-primary problem in wvsw is the inability to balance content due to varying match sizes
-primary problem….

my god, its really reallly easy to see what you neeed to do. Stop tip-toeing around the real issue. Its a waste of time and energy spending months doing these gimmick fixes and realizing they changed nothing. Just try tackling the real issue for 2 months, and then see if you finally fix the problem…..and if that doesn’t fix the problem then you know that NOTHING willl fix the problem. Save yourselves time, effort, and grief….

….save THE COMMUNITY: TIME, EFFORT AND GRIEF! All the pain and misery that has been experienced over this ‘beta wvsw’ could have been avoided if you just did this to begin with. How long are you gonna keep everyone miserable for?

What are you counting, upvotes? we cant see those. we come here…read….comment if we feel its a horrid idea or if its relevant to another issue bugging us more. i dont kno how you tabulate support for an idea. if you dont tell us, how can we show it for the things we want to show it for….

honestly you should be taking the most logical ideas we give you, and choosing the one that you think works best…not creating a random idea to a huge problem and then going back to ignoring the problem if you dont see people standing on 1 foot to show support. how do we know we need to stand on one foot to begin with….

1U1D will start out as a 1v1v1, then the next week it will start as a 1v1v1, which will become a 1v1v0 before the weekend is over, and finally end up as a 1v0v0.

How does that make sense? We need 3 teams per tier. There are always gonna be 3 per tier, and its gonna be a mix and match of the teams we have existing.
We won’t have multiple people dominating each tier now. The ones who dominate tier 4/3/2 in the first week…will be the undergods in week 2…..they might go back to dominating their old tier in week 3 etc. The current system though they would just stay dominating for over 2 months straight or stay the loser for 2 months straight.
We will always have a dominate server in T1 unless the pairings are done extremely well to prevent it.

At worst this means that T1 will be 1v1v0 every other week. But in exchange every other tier is gonna be much better.
Oh okay I see what you are saying….you are assuming that for each tier the servers will score the same place (1st/2nd/3rd) at the end of each week. And that the differential between each tier is too much for any good movement to take place. Thus any server entering a tier higher or lower will create a 1v1v0 situation every other week, since you are assuming they will be dead last if they go up and dead first if they go down. Then I guess the worst case scenario would be the creation of the 1v0v0 predominately in the middle tier……since eventually 1 might go up and another go down making a tier where the top and bottom are too weak/strong and belonging in different tiers than the middle server’s that they just entered.

This is faulty logic though. Its not the 1up1down system itself that causes this, its the balancing of the teams/pairings overall that does this. You should never dismiss a solution based on a problem it isn’t responsible for producing. That’s like saying we can’t sign a peace treaty to end a war we want to end, because too many people have already died because of the war. Its a solution to ending the war, which is what is wanted, but you are saying this solution is gonna ruin everything because of a separate problem. You need to realize that separate problems have separate solutions bro! And in this analogy there are many solutions! Just like there are many solutions to creating good matches with this system.
For wvsw its definitely more problematic with limited sets (4 total for NA for example), but this can always be expanded outwards to 5 or more like the old days (or some other solution). And there are other solutions of similar magnitude to addressing this problem.
As long as the pairings and teams are properly balanced its not a problem. It shouldn’t be too hard to pair the servers in such a way where you create a number line of strongest to weakest. Then the first 3 become the starting tier 1, then the next 3 starting tier 2 etc.
To date they have been pairing to create balanced tiers, rather than a number line, since people were not prong to ever leaving or changing their tiers cause of their refusal to destroy the glicko. They need simply re-evaluate how they pair once they integrate this new system. Stop thinking of tiers, this system will effectively delete tiers. Just picture a number line:
[1-2-3]-[4-5-6]-[7-8-9]-[10-11-12]
After 1 week we might get:
[1-2-5]-[3-6-9]-[4-7-8]……
After 2 weeks we might get
[1-2-3]-[5-9-4]……..
Fill in the blank however you want. This system isn’t scary at all, you are over-complicating things. No 1-0-0 situations are more prong to exist than they are already in the existing system. And if they do, its not the system that is liable. Everyone is also failing to note that the currently tier system is just as liable as this one is for such a problem….only the consequences last for over 2 months lol rather than a single week. There is no reason not to support this idea. It limits risk, it solves problems, it doesn’t present new problems.

I mean that’s just sad that you think the only way for wvsw to exist is for people to continue playing the losers each week and for people to continue playing the winners each week….

Don’t you feel bad advocating for the status quo of elite vs pleb? ANd justifying it based on the idea that it will destroy everything if we change. There are just too many parallels to irl human history….

im getting a max of 15 supply from 25 supply keeps alot of the time now. haven’t changed my toon or setttings or reset my wvsw points (lol)……just running into keeps that I can only get 15 from when they have both +5 aura going.

I havent gotten the 40 supply bug or been able to reproduce it….which was a case of running into a keep rather than waypointing to it.

BUT NOW WHEN I RUN INTO KEEPS I AM 50% OF THE TIME ONLY GETTING 15 SUPPLY!

Stop trying to fix things anet….at this point “I” am embarrassed for ‘you’.

Always been like that (or at least for a long time it has). Makes sense though, you aren’t taking damage so defiant stance shouldn’t heal. endure pain makes all those inc numbers 0’s that are power based anyways.

That wasn’t a problem before HoT though. I could run without a stunbreak because I could dodge the cc or otherwise avoid it through skilled play.
That’s not possible any more no matter what I do. The taunt is unblockable, undodgeable, instant. If I’m ever in melee range and the warrior activates berserk mode, I lose. From there, they can chain stuns until I’m dead. There’s no counterplay to it aside from staying at range the entire fight (IMO, makes for boring duels and Rifle engi was designed to get in melee range for Jump Shot and Blunderbuss).

Last time i checked warrior’s taunt was completely dodgeable. Its not an on hit taunt like many classes (i hit a rev and the game instantly applies taunt to me)….its simply an aoe that resonates from the warrior….so if you can’t get hit by it it won’t apply to you.

I apologize if I’m mistaken, but pretty sure a roll dodge or other evade ability negates them. Also resistance, stun break, or condi clear will cancel/negate the taunt completely, something to consider.

I mean I totally rely on taunt to secure kills against thiefs that would otherwise be the end of me. I think thats fair though, the good thiefs always expect it and have something to break the taunt…..or they just avoid being in melee range when you have the ability to use it…..or they perma stealth when i can use it so i typically can’t burst that which i can’t target.
