Hurricane Sandy. If it weren’t for that, I’d be playing right now.
Mind if we get a score update, someone?
Um, what he was saying, if you read it, is that he does not have any basic utilities. Probably using his cell phone to post. He can’t get in to get a hat. sad
Actually I’m staying in my uncle’s house, and we just got power last night.
Now, I live east of NYC, in one of the areas hit hardest by Hurricane Sandy. My hometown has no water, sewage, electricity, or gas, has national guard and multiple police force watching and enforcing martial law after dark, and I can’t access GW2 for heaven-only-knows how long. I’ve pretty much given into the fact that I’m not going to get the last Halloween achievements or the hat, and am stuck living with family.
But despite that… thank you ANet, for giving those not as badly affected by Sandy another chance. I may never complete it, but you’ve still given thousands of other fans a second chance at what they missed. At least it’s some small bit of relief, some small plus for those having to deal with it.
Oh THAT’S what it was. In my cutscene, the Mad King was missing. So the camera was just spinning around a hole while laughter was going on.
First I just want to make clear, I know this is minor for those of us who are in the path of the hurricane but I figure I may as well mention this while I can.
With all the expected power outages throughout the northeast of the US, a very populated area, and how many people would miss the Finale on Halloween because of it… I ask that you please, PLEASE do a repeat of the Finale a week after or something for those of us who cannot access the game due to evacuations or loss of power.
I find it interesting that we’ve brought up Skritt, Grawl, Centaur, Ogres, and a few other creratures, but no Krait. So I guess we’re all agreed that Krait are horrible slaving evil kittens that all deserve to die?
Yes. Personally I’m not worried about missing the special event.
I’m worried about missing the finale, due to loss of power. I REALLY don’t want to miss that.
And before you make the comment about how I’m worried more about the game than the hurricane… I live on a barrier island on the south shore of long island, I’m freaking out with worry that our house isn’t washed away or our stuff ruined in the storm surge. I’m just trying to distract myself just a little with this.
The moment act 2 started, those of us in the plaza actually SAW the thing crumble, rumble, and get a bit more destroyed.
You got your DOTA in my GW2!
You got your GW2 in my MOBA!
……Reaper’s Rumble?
Discuss!
If you luck out and find a time when it’s not “Full” yeah, join away!
MMO gamer’s today are too used to following a map with a big flashing symbol on it telling them “YOU NEED TO GO HERE”.
I can’t wait until they make an MMO without a map, no waypoints, no mounts and you walk into a cave and it’s pitch black. You don’t have a torch either.
I think that’s called Second Life…
There IS another way. There’s a long route that leads to a bar above the cauldron. By simply running up to the aformentioned bar, then with a simple, nicely-aimed jump you can fall right in.
Pretty simple bit of fun here… in WvW, what would you say your server’s motto would be?
For example…
Tarnished Coast: Fight hard, fight strong.
BTW, I’m not using “For the Toast” because that would be a battle cry, not a motto.
I do it less for the passive 5/15/25 bonuses than for the other perks. Free boons when attunement-swapping? Heck yes!
No offense, but something tells me people would probably prefer “Spirit of Shark” to “Spirit of Salmon”. And if people think “Spirit of Pike” they may start thinking they’re a pole weapon.
……a norn turning into a giant pole weapon. That would actually be amusing. I’d post a comment regarding what he’d say but it’s pretty much blatant innuendo and I don’t want to risk getting an infraction.
Oh hey, my comment showed up in the video! And I’m not even involved in any of the related servers (TC here)! Cool!
Seriously though, congradulatations on the Underdog Win. Was bound to happen eventually!
Here’s the thing.
There will ALWAYS be a “Most efficient”.
There will ALWAYS be a “Most gold”.
There will ALWAYS be this.
The PLAYERS are the ones who find it.
If the devs change this somehow, the players are just going to move to another, that one will get clogged, and then you’ll be complaining about that. It’s always going to happen.
It might be that he has full Exotic Noble Runes. The sixth option for that rune gives a 5% chance of spawning a Drakehound upon being hit. There’s no cooldown so he could have just been hit a lot and been really lucky, thus gotten all those Drakehounds.
And yes there IS another reason for those runes. Having five Noble runes gives you +25% MF. And four gives you a +35 to Power, I believe.
OK, this guy normally does Free-To-Play MMOs (As in no fees PERIOD outside of cash shops) and GW2 doesn’t count as that… but he just wanted an excuse to play the game more. Despite a few complaints, his review is pretty honest and he really likes the game. Give it a watch.
It’s possible that it could be a timed thing, like “You’ve had the same password for X amount of time. Consider changing it for security reasons”.
Will Kaineng finish 1st for the first time in their servers history?
in WvW
Posted by: Chessrook.8643
is this meant to be special or something?
Well considering Kaineng has been dead last since launch…
At this point I’m wondering if you’re trolling…
I really didn’t know that it was a full server because I had no interest in it. I know that rpers typically dont pvp. Its still sad that TC is almost full 24/7 but can’t muster more in WvW at non prime time hours
Well if the server is mostly Americans is it really THAT surprising? And I doubt TC is the only server like that.
At this point I’m wondering if you’re trolling…
An interesting thought… I never thought of it that way. The Temple of Lyssa is even more so, since you NEED people at the seals in order to make sure they don’t get taken, to say nothing of the Avatar of Lyssa herself.
Did we hatch out of eggs? O.o
Technically everyone came from eggs, even we humans.
Except the Sylvari. They come from pods.
They’re NORN. Nuff said.
Yes, because we’d all listen to the guy who can’t spell “Hypocrite”.
Er… that IS how you spell it, right?
And I figured I’d bring this up since nobody else has… in Guild Wars Beyond (The missions added afterwards in the original Guild Wars), you actually SEE a Norn wedding. Or at least a Norn-themed wedding of two humans (Specifically Gwen and Thackery). If I remember right, they have people come up to tell of the strengths and deeds the two have accomplished, they speak of fighting as one and building their tale together to the end of their days, and then they get drunk and party.
For more details, read the dialogue of the related quest here: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_Wedding
All work and no play makes Jack go crazy and stab his fellow worker with a stapler to the eye.
Yes, little bits and tiny things in the game like this are great to have. They’re fun little things for us to find, and fun little things for the devs to add. It ain’t a waste.
Pretty simple question. I have friends who are unsure about buying the game, or are unsure whether their computer can run GW2 effectively. I’m curious when ANet may start implementing Free Trials, or some sort of Refer-A-Friend System or something.
Quick comment regarding those talking about TC doesn’t try for Stonemist…
Back in the beginning of the match I suggested taking and holding SM (We had blown several holes in the outer walls already). When I asked why we don’t hold it, I got two answers.
1: It gets all the attention on us and we end up facing 2-on-1.
2: Stonemist changes hands so often it’s not really worth it.
Now admittedly SM is only 25 points, but still, if you can hold it for an amount of time it would certainly help. I find those to be silly reasons personally, but if a lot of people think that…
They probably have to explain how a cultivated patch of veggies can exist in the middle of the wilderness SOMEHOW.
October 14, 10am update
(I hope they close free transfers before BG gets tier 1 or we going to be infected by de noob train)
Isn’t it mental states like that that CAUSED this horribly unbalanced matchup in the first place?
…..ok, who gave the Asura a tankard of Norn Ale?
Currently impossible, but word is this is intentional, and the final part will be revealed soon. Common belief is it is related to the Halloween event.
Xpiher, not really working out so far. BG was just assulting QL, Brav and VK. They’re fielding more than both teams combined at 10 AM Pacific. They’ve got the coverage that neither server has. We (TC) has been taking towers and camps and leaving them open for FA to walk in and try to get a foothold and they’re just not able to do it. We’ve seen probably 10 total FA in EB this morning and BG zergs of 30-50 … when we’ve seen them (invis is still here, yay!).
TC isn’t going anywhere. We’ll perform at the same level we always do, no matter what. But it’s going to be a long week. Might as well just settle in and stock up on the jelly.
Yea it’s starting to get boring because were always outnumbered. I love me some RP, but I’m considering a move to one of the top WvW realms so that I can have free/easy wins with maxed out server populations.
If you can ever get in past the two hour queues.
That is true. Tarnished Coast is the unofficial North American RP server, while Piken Square (I think) is the unofficial European RP server.
TC is also very good at WvW, and we’re fairly high in the rankings. If nothing else, we may be the most determined server in WvW.
Judging from what I read elsewhere, several big Henge of Denravi guilds transferred over to Blackgate, meaning we’re also going to have to deal with top-tier fighters. Let’s fight hard, and do what we can to show that we won’t go down fighting, not even against the remnants of the Henge.
Much like before, here’s a thread to discuss the map. Keep it classy.
I might have to say Commander Commander Jadon on Tarnished Coast, personally, though there’s some other good ones on there.
The Pirate Song one is actually triggered if you follow him back into the camp after an event where you escort him around the nearby swamp to get some treasure.
If you’re curious about the song, take a listen… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7jlYKKh45w
If you need more carrots, check Root Vegetable nodes. [/joke]
Been longer for me. Seems they’re leaving. Or being taken care of.
The Crystal Crater from Pockmark Flats in GW1 has indeed shrunk MASSIVELY from its original size, and is much smaller in GW2 than it used to be, and much closer to Serenity Temple.
Well there is… ONE thing.
In the Plains of Ashford there’s an event where you end up killing Captain Calhann, who was in the first mission of prophecies. Just before the event starts, if you show up early enough, two random soldiers run up to him, and THEY RECREATE THE FINAL CUTSCENE OF THE MISSION. The two soldiers, one male and one female, say the lines that the Player Character said, however, word for word.
Which leaves me wondering… does this mean that our GW1 characters… never really existed?
Rangers and Eles.
…….hey I spend very little time on the front lines and a fair amount of time on the wall, Barrage and other AoEs are annoying.
Most servers, you got PVPers, and casual or hardcore people interested in it playing WvW. Most of these kinds of people, especially PVPers, they play to win. They want to win, they love winning, and of course there’s a few who scream and rage when they lose. And there’s those who play for fun, but run when the numbers are against them and morale pushes them down.
But then there’s Tarnished Coast. And it’s filled with the RPers.
RPers, sure, they love winning too, but it’s not the most important part: It’s the STORY. It’s the tales that come from a great battle, the wonderful experiences that come from overcoming impossible odds, or from holding our ground as long as we can. We care less about winning than of making sure we’ve bloodied the other guy’s nose while they won, and of having fun the whole way.
Whether it’s RPing back and forth, or Dungeons and Dragons, it’s the struggle, the drama, the fight that is the cake of our experience, victory being just a delicious icing on top to make it better. ANd for that, our morale breaking point is higher. Even as shown in this week’s game, even though we clearly can’t get first anymore, we still fight. We’ll keep fighting, and make our enemies work to keep their leads. Because THAT is what we love. None can match our determination.
At least, that’s my theory.
There’s a gravestone located in the graveyard just east of the entrance to Divinity’s Reach in the Human starting area…

that pierces the Mists”
