Hackers in WvW

Yeah but what do report them as? There’s no “Hacking” option.

Saw an invisi-telehacker on the Dragonbrand Boarderlands earlier. Disappeared after every attack, and apparently had teleported into our keep. Ended up camping outside our Supply Camp and killing our Dolyaks.

No Fury, it was definately a hack. Fully visible, he would run towards me and disappear, stab me a few times, reappear for a second, disappear again, etc. He was not targetable while invisible.

I heard reports he was teleporting too, and was seen inside our keep when it wasn’t even being attacked.

He’s a Dragonbrand hacker. He’s using an invisihack to stay almost permanently invisible. He’s become impossible to kill, and is only visible for about one second before completely disappearing.

He’s camping outside Redvale Refuge on the Dragonbrand Borderlands and killing our Dolyaks.

There’s no “Hacking” option under the report window, so I had to report him for botting. I also can’t take a picture (As nothing incriminating would show) and I can’t take a video (Don’t have vidcap).

To Rosen Mist in general…

Yeah, of course the events in Elona and Cantha haven’t been mentioned. We’re not IN Elona or Cantha. We’re in TYRIA, a completely different continent. How much African or Asian history do you really know, after all? There’s also so much more lore in Tyria than in EotN because, aside from the Tarnished Coast, we haven’t been to anywhere in the EotN lands.

It also makes sense that they wouldn’t mention the Master of Whispers from Elona because the Order of Whispers is an order of spies and secrets… they wouldn’t exactly tell everyone “Oh yeah this is who our leader was 250 years ago”.

Ogden is the only thing mentioned there that could help, but remember, he and the players fought the Destroyers and the lieutenant of Primordus. Our main foe here is Zhaitan, and mostly minions of Jormag and Kralkatorik. Primordus doesn’t show up much aside from his minions here and there. When we start fighting him I’m sure Ogden will have much more to say about the events of EotN.

Topographical Inconsistencies

Yeah, except that what they were eroding? It wasn’t dirt hills… it was ROCKS. Lots and lots of ROCK. And if the rain hasn’t worn away the Great Northern Wall yet I don’t see how it could have worn away all the stone in the Diessa Lowlands (And conveniently created a solid wall of rock at about the mid level, which is between the Diessa Plateau and Plains of Ashford/Black Citadel).

Topographical Inconsistencies

Chessrook.8643

So something that’s bothered me a bit more than it should have… ANet has put a LOT of detail and continuity into the game. Locations are in the same spot, buildings are where they’ve always been… but…

Why are there so many other topographical inconsistencies? I mean, ok, I can understand Lion’s Arch being underwater, a stretch of Ascalon being turned into the Brand, and even Droknar’s Forge ending up in a forested area due to the volcano.

But how about places unaffected by the ravages of a dragon or seemingly untouched by volcanic activity? For example, how do you explain the confusing rocky maze that was the Diessa Lowlands, suddenly turning into rolling hills and farmlands that is the Diessa Plateau? Look at the included pictures to compare… and use the position of Grendich Courthouse to help with placement.

Chessrook.8643

Here’s a question for you… why is the crater that the Searing Crystal landed in suddenly a quarter of the size it used to be, if not smaller?

And for that matter, why have SO many parts of the world, including areas completely unaffected by the presence of dragons, suddenly have vastly different topographical structures? Like the massive maze of hills and boulders around Grendich Courthouse suddenly turning into rolling plains and farmlands.

There’s also DOZENS of ghosts in Ascalon… and there’s even an event that starts with two soldiers running up to a third… and reciting the cutscene from the end of the first mission (Sir! We found Bonfazz Burntfur and the charr army in a valley to the north!). I guess our characters didn’t officially do it.

I figured I’d make a thread so we could go out there and give props to the GOOD commanders we have out on our servers. Who’s good at what they do? Who does everyone listen to? Who can get the server organized and turn a curbstomp into a defensive force?

Here in Tarnished Coast, I’d have to give props to Commander Jadon (Or Commander Commander Jadon. Yeah dunno why he had Commander in his name… but I digress.). He knows what he’s doing, he can hold attention well, and people listen. They’d even follow him off a cliff and into the enemy spawn if he asked them. And the zerg did just that once! Plus, he’s even got a bit of comedy in him, whether it’s running around as a quaggan or charging at the head of a zerg without wearing any pants.

Hail Commander Commander Jadon! FOR THE TOAST!!!!

Remove the ability to transfer gold/items between players. Problem solved.

Create systems where players can still contribute to guild upgrades and commander etc.

Do you have ANY idea the rage that’ll explode over the forums if you did that? They’d break out the pitch, forks, and torch and march to the offices of ANet in person, cover whoever came up with that idea in the pitch, then smash them over the head with the torch/flashlight! Then stab them with the forks!

FOr those of you saying that you should trace the money to the players and ban them that way, there’s one problem: The spam e-mails that include a copper in them. Since you can’t delete it unless you take the copper, you’ve effectively taken money from a moneyseller, and in this case you’d probably be seen, at a cursory surface glance, as guilty as someone who really DID buy from a moneyseller.

And that just won’t do.

…In Malchor’s Leap we can also find a sunken area called “Malchor’s Anguish” which holds “imperfect” statues of Dwayna – the GW1 model, specifically….

Oh lord that place is DEPRESSING. If you read a tablet or plaque or something that’s located there, you see just how much Malchor was driven to madness by his love for Dwayna.

It’s strongly implied that this wasn’t one side, and that he actually copulated with Dwayna, as it’s said later on that Grenth’s mother is Dwayna and had a mortal scupltor for a father.

….but….I was under the impression that the five Gods showed up to Malchor at around the same time…there’s no way that it could be Malchor.

1325 AE is when GW2 takes place.

There are a handful of date discrepencies I’ve noticed. One being the golem foundry digsite in Metrica Province, being an excavation of the Eye of the North golem foundry (where G.O.L.E.M. mission begins), but dates the place’s create in the 13th century (1219 I think?). In Brisban Wildlands, specifically Hidden Lake, there’s a gravestone for one of the GW1 collectors, but date her lifespan to being born in the 12th century (1100s).

Maybe it’s a way of saying “Even Historians Make Mistakes and Typos”?

I still remember a brief exchange from Guild Wars: Eye of the North that really showed the opinions of the Flame Legion, even if it was 250 years before the current Flame Legion…

Flame Legion Charr: …the humans are to the south. The Heirophant means to feed them to our new Gods.
Player Character: Those are not gods.
Flame Legion Charr: Do you think we care? What matters is that others think they are.

The Flame Legion were nothing but a bunch of power-hungry charr who built their religion on lies and deception.

Intelligently Designed Realm Ranking System for WvW

Chessrook.8643

Here’s the problem.
Some of us suck at killing other players.
Some of us constantly get trounced when fighting one-on-one against another player.
Some of us are better at scouting.
Some of us are better at tactics.
Some of us are better at sieging.
Some of us put dozens of silver coins into making sure the various camps and towers get upgraded.
Some of us escort dolyaks and face no opponents because they’re busy defending from our zerg.
Some of us focus on the NPC guards (Like the sentries, or unguarded camps. Not the random animals, of course).

Some of us are glad we don’t have to constantly die against other players like in sPVP.

So what do WE get in this system? I’m already a bit bothered that I spent ten minutes destroying a wall of a Keep, yet didn’t get any credit for taking it because I wasn’t standing inside the circle during the capture.

Campaigns, or Expansions?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chessrook.8643

Chessrook.8643

This is a question to ArenaNet. Back in Guild Wars 1, they had an intriguing idea for “expansions” that hasn’t been met in any other MMO. Specifically, two of the expansions, Factions and Nightfall, were stand-alone Campaigns. You did not need the original game in order to play Factions or Nightfall (However, you did need one of the three in order to play Eye of the North).

My question is, for future expansions, do you plan on releasing them as Stand-alone campaigns like Factions and Nightfall, or do you plan on returning to the standard expansion model of requiring the original game to play future expansions?
