No I’m not that same Chris. Anyhow I’m in full support of 4 leagues and there is a thread on this. Support it and it got a “we’ll gather info” response from Devon Carver.

So..this has gone all to crap. Before the nightly ram trains start, I will say that this has been a fun match until now.
For all the ribbing I respect Maguuma as a server (all job status related trolling aside) as they are the only ones ever smart enough to suggest organized 2v1 on the stronger server with us and can put up some awesome open field fights.

EhmBay is ferocious when they are on and always make the weekends a hectic ordeal.

How about just changing the color of your tag, that would be enough.

Come on ANet, just retitle this thread “the depository.” You have already shown such a flagrant disregard for the concerns of your customers that you might as well cut loose and have some fun while you grind your brand into a footnote in poor product management.

They made it a separate map, so it should not be too hard to accomplish. +1

This isn’t a referendum on GvG and whether or not you approve. This is addressing the fact that a lot of people enjoy doing them and they should have an appropriate place to still play the game the way they wish.

We have two facts here. Bloodlust is killing GvG + making all WvW a pain. The other is ANet’s refusal to even acknowledge GvG interest.

Here is my solution:

We make the ruins the GvG spot.

Think about it… two 20 man groups can keep the 3rd server from interfering, to the point where they can double-team the offending server for ~20 minutes or so to discourage this.

Here is the great part, the winning guild should get the right (on the honor system only) to cap that point when they are finished.

This will encourage GvGs to spite the Dev Team (turn their breaking system into a winning system) and will preserve play type.

It’s not perfect, but ANet has made it clear they will not support GvG in any way; so let’s make it happen ourselves.

I was unaware we had anything in EBG to begin with. If we did, it was paper, since when I woke up, we didn’t have diddly. So yeah, I would brag that you lost a fully upgraded keep over some paper. I think you made a rather large tactical error.

I’m sorry I’m not completely map aware, I only see what’s on MOS because I’m at work.

They took a fully fortified stonemist shortly afterwards. Since then I’ve seen at least east/west keep reset on your borderlands. If anything, I think the initial SoS post was premature. But hey, speaking of things we talk about that we aren’t a part of, why don’t you go back to calling us the unemployed server?

I’m sure actually unemployed people really appreciate your humor, because you know, they all looove their current status. Unlike many people, I don’t bother to try and infer anything about the demographics of my server. But if you want to assume everyone who does that is correct, then we have an EU zerg because we’re all (apparently homeschooled) 12 year olds. Every other server claims to have a “higher than average” population of “hard-working adults with ~families~”, so I guess someone has to be the kids’ server.

My best, honest answer is that we have an EU zerg because we have an EU commander. Ever notice how we do poorly on weekends? It’s because there’s no commander on to lead that zerg. It’s not the demographics that make the difference.

You sound genuinely hurt by my “unemployment” line. I actually feel badly if I hurt feelings with that comment.
For what it’s worth I got a lot of WvW time in last December when I had a “gap” in my work history as well.

It’s also a genuine line of thought since A. unemployment is high, and B. GW2 is free to play after initial purchase.
However it has nothing to do with it so all wrapped up now.

Speaking from the outside, JQ has never been anyone’s favorite and no small amount of people hold that opinion.

That being said, they still have my respect (and should have the respect of others) for holding things together for over a year now.
Their imminent collapse has been called countless times now, they have been teetering upon the precipice of complete implosion on no less than 5 separate occasions; yet they are still in T1 and still can take the gold from time to time.

All three servers in this matchup has survived some ups and downs; and I really don’t think anyone should say that any of the three haven’t earned their spot.

Now go get lagged out and mash 1 for hours.

I’ve ran with our Oceanic and SEA groups a few times. They usually don’t have a mob like that behind them in the tougher matches.

So the logical conclusion is that they got a huge karma train and no one was listening to the commander.

It happens when we face servers like Maguuma and EhmBay, we get a lot of militia on who don’t WvW very much and you see some very bad playing from our casuals.

I don’t want to take away from VR’s achievement here, but that’s how this week has been going.

I think SBI is now a lock for #9. Maguuma and SoS both have glaring weaknesses at the moment, but both servers excel at throwing numbers in off hours that no server <T2 can face either.

I just hope that SBI’s transfers are aware what they have signed up for. They can expect regular matchups not only with Maguuma and SoS; but from T2 servers as well. It’s also not unheard of for a T1 server to get mixed in with T3.

Even for the few on SBI who remember their T1 days, the numbers have only grown and the size of zergs + insane lag just makes it unpleasant.

Let them take their lumps, and let’s see if they can take the heat in GW2’s hottest crucible.

While on paper this sounds like a good idea, it doesn’t really solve anything. The leagues will still be blown out by certain servers. If anything, this idea will just let 4 servers blowout the rest, instead of 2 which could be the op’s ulterior motive, being from SoS.

Firstly, this will make for more stagnant matches. I doubt FA or DB will enjoy fighting a T1 server almost every week. Two leagues will provide a larger range of mathups.

Secondly, 3 of the 4 proposed leagues will be blown out by a server. The winner of the 1st league will be determined by whichever server is paired with T2 servers the most. So it’s not really about who’s the best.

2nd league will be blown out by SoS.
3rd will be blown out by IoJ.
4th will be blown out by SF.

So the other, less fortunate servers will have to put up with being paired with these guys more often, which I don’t think they would want.

Ask any of the T3-T4 servers on who’d they rather face for weeks on end, SoS or BG?

Season 1 is going forward as we described, however nothing about future seasons is set in stone. We’ll take a look at the data we get from the first season and will absolutely make adjustments so that future seasons are even better than the first one.

My concern with four leagues is simply that there isn’t enough variety at that point. I could very well be wrong, but we are going to try season 1 this way and then we’ll take a look at how it played out.

Well, at least you are willing to consider the changes. I hope your team can play on some of the matches to see the effects first hand.

The tone of your post shows that you understand our concerns a little and appreciate why a great number of people approach this change with no small amount of trepidation.

We both roam and group up, and aren’t worried about being in a zerg, but allllll the time zerging might be boring.

So, if we do T1 I’m thinking SoR.
T2 I’m thinking FA, I hear they have a fun NA base, correct me if I’m wrong. But they.have a bad Oceanic and EU presence?
As for T3, it seems SoS needs more NA, which I fear will mean a similar experience to what I have now (bad). I’m not sure about the others.

SoS needs NA in comparison to the matches we commonly get. We have a good number of NA groups, especially compared to AR, even when they still had people.

I know a majority of CNB is wants to move to SoS. I’ve been visit your guy’s server and have 130 members who do stuff like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXff-ZgSWUM. we get 30-50 on a day from our mandatory WvW time (5-10pm server time) and like to take and upgrade keeps, only problem is we lose them durring the night I hear you can fix that.

You have any idea how nice it is to wake up and see three waypoints on the home BL’s and see every structure in the enemy borderlands be made of plywood?

With 5 servers having imploded or currently imploding due to this change, 2-4 looking shaky, and GvG being purposefully removed from the game; ANet has manufactured a crisis in WvW participation and demonstrated a flagrant disregard for their customers.

With only benefitting party being ArenaNet’s bottom-line, it’s impossible not to look upon this idea without a jaundiced eye.

We understand that the League tournaments could increase WvW population and change the math slightly, but the long-term prospects are very damaging.

Already there’s stories of servers openly offering to pay for transfers and several servers are stacking up and increasing the likelihood of lag and queues in the top servers.

ArenaNet, we appreciate that you have strong opinions you want to stand by; but the courts are already backlogged with companies filing Chapter 13. Seriously, you have made a wonderful brand and wonderful product in the Guild Wars franchise. Don’t lose it all because you are unwilling to listen to what your customers are saying.

This guild has more guts than any other guild on their server and are a monster in GvG. Very impressive to fight against.

As you go up in ranks you see a general trend in increase of group size (zergs) and in coverage.
Given your group size and experience in PvP I think you would be disappointed in T1 and probably even the current T2.
T3 is about the level that small groups with high skill can start making a difference again. Any of the t3 and t4 servers would be glad to have you.

This match is boring. EhmBay is all excuses and Mags called it a night early (you were fun earlier today).

The most exciting thing that’s happened is that FtF is now trying to fight in open field. Of course they stink, but it’s nice to see them do something other than man cannons all day.

I called it last week. I said the worst thing that could happen as far as YB staying in the top 12, would be a direct matchup with SBI.

You know, if you’re looking for Ebay’s skill groups, I think currently we have about 3 that run 15+. Just an fyi, Ebay BL isn’t the best place to start looking for them, so your bad, now you know. The ADBsty guys were on SoS BL along with HAWK for a while mixing it up with mags and SoS there, while you were screwing around with siege and whatnot. Next time just ask around to see where the fights are. Also, the server generalizations in this matchup are so boring.

We wiped twice tonight, so ya. Idk, we value open-field shenanigans more than PPT siegewars garbage. Case-in-point we ran at near a queue of SoS on their BL tonight to try and wipe them at least 3-4 times between WK and Garrison. We didn’t wipe them, but I think we’d end up downing at least a good 20-30 before having to dip back into the keep due to about half our group dying. The fights were good, too, and lasted at least 5 mins each. Better than having to treb down EBay’s towers/keeps to try and goad them into responding.

Lastly, if we’re so bad, why not come and fight us open-field some night? Ark raids every single night with 15-20 people and we’re ALWAYS looking for some good non-siege-related fun. We’ll even have some of our people sit out if you can only muster 10-15. Just toss one of us an in-game PM and we’d be happy to meet up. I’m not joking, either. We fought DR from BP several times last matchup in a scrim-like atmosphere because they asked us if we were interested.

@KStudios: Who are you, again? I don’t think I’ve seen your guild before, unless it was inside a herd of EBay running into a keep/sitting on the walls on siege. Even so, it’s easy to miss individual tags amidst the blob.

He is kind bringing up a good point though. Ark was the only guild non-SoS group that stood it’s ground on SoSBl last night. Even normally strong guilds like hawk and VR were boring.

oh no, we have 15+? GH has had 25+ for 3 straight hours on the map. There were multiple ballistae/AC in every camp and tower we checked.

Well I have been in the TS and GH has not had more than 25 in channel the entire evening since reset. Additionally, they generally have people in multiple places around the map at any given time. Perhaps you have stereoscopic rendering enabled? that does somewhat double up everything you see if you are on a standard monitor.

You are right about the Ballistae. There was 2 Balllistae built inside keeps when the gates fell. I guess you would prefer that we don’t defend keeps or towers? And you think its boring now?

So you don’t actually count groups and throw out arbitrary numbers because your group wipes and then confuse rangers for arrow carts, then in one sentence complain about how boring the matchup is while complaining about servers defending their stuff. If you really don’t want resistance and just want the profits, try PvE. The loot is way better there.

GH is probably one of the most siege-happy guilds I’ve ever run into. Have yet to see EBay fight open-field unless they outnumber the opposing force at least 2:1.

You must be forgetting about FTF. Someone last night sees them stacking, they said they would push. I said they were only building an AC. We were both wrong, it was two ACs :p

bandwagoning is not a new idea and gets limited returns. If you get as large as SBI (who is likely to end up in the gold league anyhow) you too will jump up then hit the wall. At that point, you need to ask if you are getting everything you hoped you would be out of things.

In other words, forget this rather humorous backdoor recruitment ad for FC (A+ for originality) and if you are finding instability or not enough participation on your server look for a new long-term home (unless you want to be one of those gypsy guilds that moves every 3 weeks.) Servers that have survived bad drops (SoS, SBI, IoJ) are good places to start and look around. Find people who’s philosophy and attitude reflect yours.

I think it’s because of the cost of gems to each server. SBI has the lowest server pop of any server in the top 12 (they are going to be top 12 soon) and GoM is probably the most affordable overall.

I personally think it’s worth the difference in gems to find a best fit for yourself, but I know some people are trying to enjoy this game on a shoestring budget and don’t want to spend months farming for a transfer.

evil numbers this week. First DB, now TC and SoR; and overall our chances of facing another T2+ server have increased.

So I think after looking into it a bit more we have narrowed down the list to either FA or DB. Appreciate the responses so far.

DB doesn’t seem to use roamers and small groups at all. They have been toning down their mega-zerging but they still tend to run in 30-40 deep groups typically.

If you are planning on keeping your group together and staying the same size you’d probably get more mileage out of FA.

You sound like a perfect fit for Sea of Sorrows. We’re currently at the top of tier 3 and are building up so that we can have competitive matchups against Tier2 servers on a more even playing field (NA numbers-wise).
We typically have 4 or so mid-sized guilds on TS during NA(countless militia), there is a need for small groups like yours that specialize in small-scale tactical warfare.
You would find yourself in good company as our dedicated WvW groups hit as hard or harder (man for man) than anyone we’ve faced.

We’re not as zergy as the other servers on your list, but as much as I respect all 3 (honestly) I think we are more fun than them

This game does favor damage output in 1v1 situations. A full glass, zerker thief can trait into backstab and can easily hit you for 8k damage.

However, hammer warriors aren’t meant for running solo and shouldn’t be setup that way anyhow. If you didn’t do hammer shock, healing surge, then earthshaker in the first 2 seconds following the backstab, then you are doing something wrong as well.

We need PvF bingo. A rep of each server will submit a Bingo form full of forum buzzwords and the last server to get a bingo (or not get one at all) is declared the PvF champion of the week.

I predict that the T8 matchup of Maguuma-SoR-EB would go on for a long time.

X does nothing but blobs and Y just sits behind their arrow carts and doesn’t like open field fighting.

We on Z like to roam but then the [ABCD] guild showed up and had to zerg to get us all.

We all know Z would be winning, but Y relies on their off-hours coverage to get all their wins.

I’m still peeved about how [EFGH] behaved in that GvG, they have no honor and suck at the game.

Probably because if TC tries to press SoR they get an immediate response, where as if they press SoS they are successful.

TC was getting pushed in the South by SoR and in response they pushed North into SoS…???

That whole fad of quoting Sun Tzu never hit SoS and we make no claims to being Masters of “Strategery”, but I don’t recall a time where we have ever responded to a push from an enemy server by attacking the 3rd server.

I wonder how much closer the numbers would be if both TC and SoS both had better rein on their militia and more unified strategy.

I checked the map off of millenium, and saw that SoR was pressing SoS in EBG. Then, the SoR started pushing TC (this is over the space of ~3 min.) and taking their stuff.

I thought, "nice, SoR is overextending and maybe a nice 2v1 on SoR will happen.

Then TC boldly pressed into SoS territory….

All I can say is that you can’t control if you win or lose, but you can control how stupid you look while doing either.
